Micro Art Studios is an amazing company. Soon I'll be posting something they custom made for me. Those Alien bases, make me want to put a Tyranid army together.
Please release more Iron Brotherhood. I'll be your BFF forever... which is kinda redundant when you think about it. A BFF is already forever, so if I was one forever I'd be a best friend forever forever.

Uhh...
I... Iron Brotherhood. Yeah!
BYE
I'm pretty sure that I posted somewhere or other that they are slated for release at the end of this month/early April, to coincide with some tournament/convention (Salute?).
So... soon, my friend, soon!
(I know I'm waiting to place an order until they're ready!)
Alpharius wrote:I'm pretty sure that I posted somewhere or other that they are slated for release at the end of this month/early April, to coincide with some tournament/convention (Salute?).
i really like 3 of these, and really hate the other 3. is there a way to specify which ones you want when you odrder them? if not, i wouldn't buy. if i want to blow a bunch of money on a roll of the dice, i'll go to Vegas...
I realy would love to build an AdMech army with the iron brotherhood models, but 9.76 euro is like 14 US dollars, for two figs, that would be an expensive army!
I hope you guys end up doing some xeno difficult terrain markers. I want it to be known when I blow up a Devilfish or a Falcon. Oh, and I think a Leman Russ one would sell as well.
Wow Sure, they're expensive, but they're pretty much EXACTLY how I imagined Skitari to look like.
They cost too much for a troop unit, but they'll make nice Stomrtroopers.
That's a nice move from them, but which minis will be included in the pack. They have 3 different guns, how can I equip them if I use them as a unit in a 40k army?
Anung Un Rama wrote:That's a nice move from them, but which minis will be included in the pack. They have 3 different guns, how can I equip them if I use them as a unit in a 40k army?
I think you can ask for specific ones. That might have been a different company though.
Sorry for the tiny bit of threadromancy, but I just did an order for the Iron Brotherhood products and wanted to know if the guys from Micro-Art have a presence here at Dakka (ie. someone I can PM) about the order I just made.
Reminds me of the DKoK Ork heads: The moulds were also done for a commission first. Then, after a demand, they added this to the shop. But only the heads, not everything else Hortwerth made for this army.
Micro Art Iron Brotherhood delay
Micro Art Studio have announced that their Iron Brotherhood infantry figures will be delayed.
From their website:
We want to apologise to all our customers who have ordered Iron Brotherhood HTTP-01 for a shipping delay that will occur.
Due to the fact that our partner casting company had a delay we’re forced to move the shipping date of Iron Brotherhood HTTP-01. The estimated time of the arrival is April 28th,2010.
Everyone who have taken part in our pre-order will receive a gift as a compensation.
Awww! I was hoping to get my Skitarii troops before our next Dark Heresy game. Oh well, the other Iron Brotherhood stuff I ordered has shipped, so maybe it'll show up by then (fingers crossed).
Still, not all bad news - they are coming, just later, and we get something for free!
I don't know exactly, but I am pretty sure you can basecoat it with spray like the foam terrain by Noch / Ziterdes / former GW which is not styrofoam but a resin foam.
The Warstore distributes Micro Art products in North America, others as well. Maybe wait until they stock the new terrain.
OTOH, direct shipping to North America is a flat rate of 8 Euro (and the Euro is very low currently).

Alpharius wrote:I too wish the 'guy standing next to it' was coming out.
THAT is the one I am really after.
Micro Art Studio keeps teasing us with that image, and then releases versions that are close, so close!
And yet, so far...
I happen to own 22 of those 'guys standing next to it.' (Actually I only have 3 or 4 of that specific guy, but I have 22 of that range of minis... in resin...). Those were the original iron brotherhood figures, but for whatever reason, I don't think Hortwerth was very happy with them. I was able to order them because I contacted MAS directly and asked.
Still haven't built them though (something like 3-4 years later), lol
I'm really loving the stuff microart has been putting out lately, Kroot are you directly affiliated with them, or just being your usual awesome self sharing all this cool stuff with us?
About to order some Iron Brotherhood myself, so nothing against microart.
However, for those with less spare cash, I'll suggest a look at Ramshackle Games figures, which seem very AdMech. No pics yet as my order's still in transit, but look at their website-- most figures £1.50 to £2.50, and a couple of figures definitely Cataphract type.

I am in no way related to any of the companies whose products I post, although I met the Micro Art people on the German fair/convention "SPIEL 2009" where they displayed one terrain prototype and I talked to them about it. Having a hotlink to "Tabletop Gaming News" helps in providing news
Beautiful stuff, can't wait to see someone's skitarii army out there. We all know someone on this board is gonna have an entire IG army composed of those guys.
while the sculpting is very nice on these bases, i don't see how they are actually practical for mounting a mini onto...
this is a problem i see with most aftermarket bases...
love the idea, and execution...
i just don't see any use for 'em, personally...
jah-joshua wrote:while the sculpting is very nice on these bases, i don't see how they are actually practical for mounting a mini onto...

For models designed to fit it a 'slot' you can cut the slot off so there is nothing but a 'peg' under each foot. Then you drill a peg-sized hole in the custom resin base, fill it with some glue and Green stuff and push the model in.
For models designed to be on a 'flat' base with no slots, you put a blob of Green Stuff under the foot, superglue it and smoosh it to the base... or use pin if needed.
Both usually make it rock solid and easily painted.
All these 'bug' bases I see floating around... almost makes me want to make a 'nid army...
i use aftermarket bases on nearly ALL my minis, nkelsch...
i always have a pin in one of the mini's feet, 'cause i paint 'em seperate from the base...
what i'm saying is that with so many of the resin bases i see, they are overdecorated...
it's hard to make the mini "fit" onto the base...
a mini ends up looking like it is "floating" above the detail, instead of looking "anchored" into the scene...
with all the ridges, and organic curves here, the mini will have to be converted for the base, more often than not...
i do like the designs though...

Agreed, most of those bases are too cluttered and busy to mount anything properly. Especially their trench, biotech and power plant bases, which are ace, but unfit to mount minis onto.

I love those Power Plant bases above; but the only use I found for the ones I bought was as markers for specific rooms in Space Hulk missions - they look better than cardboard counters.
The Biotech bases are - with some exceptions - mostly fine though; I got a blister for various character models and could use all of them without much of a hassle.
Micro Art Studio has just released the first set of "Nezumi heads with Gas masks" usable as Skaven of the Clan Skryre or Clan Pestilens.
5 for 3.66 €. BTW if you like them: I suggested this product (and the Nezumi name, which is ratmen in Japanese mythology) to the boss of Micro Art on a game fair and he loved the idea.
Micro Art Studio just released two Giant Wolves, each with 2 alternative heads, for Fantasy or Space Wolf needs (bring your own rider). Dimension 8-9cm long, 4cm high, pictured on 60mm base not included. Price 21.96 Euro each.
Yeah, well just because GW is "completely way overpriced and I would never buy" doesn't make $27 for a medium sized, fairly basic metal model a good deal.
Yeah, well just because GW is "completely way overpriced and I would never buy" doesn't make $27 for a medium sized, fairly basic metal model a good deal.
Exactly! Also its a incomplete kit you still have to buy a rider. Its a nice model though.
And its not only this mini I made several shopping carts in the past at micro and looking at totals its well above other " alternative" companies and if you know were to search... well lets just say I always felt cheated at looking at shopping carts totals and went elsewere.
Liking the wolves, except for a couple things. First, the tails seem a bit... clubby. They should come to a bit more of a point, and the fur hanging off shouldn't be as thick. Also, the heads strike me as somewhat low-set on the bodies, but this could just be the poses. Sadly I'm gonna have to agree that the price is a bit much. Still, if I wanted bigass wolves, I'd really consider these, the growling one especially.
This month, Micro Art has released some terrain, a hardfoam SciFi canal. It certainly is not cheap, esp. when compared to the Armorcast alternative, but it looks nice. It is 5" wide and available as single pieces and in two sets.
Yeah... the price kinda turned of off on those. Maybe if it came pre-painted like that.
Alpharius wrote:H.B.M.C. - are you happy with the poses/versions that they finally went with?
I know you were with me in wishing that they released the 'original' version...
Look, I'd've preferred the original - we all know that - but what we've got is quite good. When mixed in with their other Iron Brotherhood products (I bought stacks of those as well) you get a very cohesive and genuine looking group of Skitarii, even though none of them are official 40K models. Haven't got the Stalker Tank yet... but one day.
New products announced from our Polish neighbors. Guess what? Another batch of Ork Nazis Oh, well, but this time it is officers on bikes, announcement only, but "soon in our store":
i still cant find the preheresy termie shoulder pads? anyone got a link? I really wanna purchase these.BTW ORK NOB nazi's ftw......VICTORY AND WELFARE FOR GORK!!
Those uniformed Orks (using a polite term here, lest we insult ze Germans ) are an excellent incentive to start working out a Blood Axe army for desert operations, finally my pesky Elysians can get a worthy opponent.
Kroothawk wrote:New products announced from our Polish neighbors. Guess what? Another batch of Ork Nazis Oh, well, but this time it is officers on bikes, announcement only, but "soon in our store":
Gah, I'm going to have to get a set of those last ones to see if I can loose the head for some kickin DA pads. Unless you think there is a chance of them sans bird head kroot.
Non-plussed by those terrain pieces. I guess I'd be looking for something either modular that I'd want a lot of (and that would be a pain to produce myself) or a single piece that's pretty spectacular.
I feel like all these can be made by anyone pretty easily at home with some bitz and some foam.
The lamp posts are nice, but that price makes them a diorama sort of piece and not something I'd want to line a city board with.
H.B.M.C. wrote:Love to see some more shots of that, and with some other models for scale reasons.
Warboss Narznok wrote:Wonder how big these things are. How will they work will 15mm size.
Guess this door shot gives an idea of the size:
The Pump Station will be rather big with 3 segments in a row. if you interpret the door to be vehicle sized, you can take it for 15mm. The stairs of the Power Module won't work with 15mm though.
I like the bunker. Being able to stack the power generator is a nice idea.
And I'm liking the pump station even more with the better angled pics... although it would have been better without the dirt edging, which could look a little out of place on full-on urban boards.
I've thought a lot about that, and really I would just pin the thing to the feet of the model. Most models that size should have some kind of sizeable something that they sit on. With a Trygon for the Trygon base, might have ot do some cutting and GS work to get it looking just right, but hey; it appears to be a suitably impressive base for a suitably impressive gribbly.
bases look wayy too busy for my liking, wouldent want to distract from the actual model itself. That said, they do look nice, just as sculpts themselves, not somthing Id wack a trygon on.
Hi,
just back from the world's biggest game's fair in Essen, where Micro Art Studio was present as well. There are a lot of new products sold there but not on the website yet (sorry, no pics yet).
Best ones are 2 hardfoam terrain sets, fitting for Imperials, Orks, Gorkamorka or Necromunda:
One is a big pile of oil barrels and stuff("Crate Heap #1"), plus doors suggesting rooms within or underneath it. You can hide a Land Raider behind that pile.
It is accompanied by a set of three slightly smaller piles of oil barrels ("Crate Heap set 1"), still able to hide a Rhino behind it.
There are also more oval Trygon sized bases, one of them from the temple series.
ALso new and soon to be released is a generic wall element with a green transparent acrylic piece on top, with funny advertising lasered on it.
And the new hardfoam terrain and skaven heads look quite good in reality.
Hope to get pics sooner in the future, we will see.
Didn't talk about that topic with them (only had 2 days for 8 halls full of stuff), but a fully painted AdMech army was displayed using the current models, so they seem motivated
My local store carries the hardfoam stuff, if I have the money, I'm buying some, its fairly durable (even more-so once it gets painted), I would say a bit tougher than the insulation foam you get at Home Depot/Lowes.
Those oval bases.. they're the valkyrie bottom size, right? That temple one would work great for the tomb stalker I'm trying to talk myself into buying...
1.) Bases are resin, only some terrain is hardfoam.
2.) Hardfoam terrain is quite robust, only some thin edges might break off. Used by model railroaders, formerly also by GW (graveyard and Orc village etc).
3.) Oval bases are in GW standard size (big Valkyrie flying base has the same footprint as the Trygon oval base).
Question about your bases. For your 25mm round temple bases for example.. you get 5 bases for 4.92 Euros? How many different sculpts are there? In the photo it looks like 12 different ones. Do you just get 5 random bases?
or for your ruins flying bases, you just get 1 but there's 3 versions.. if I order 3, will I definitely get 1 of each?
Just want to make sure my bases would be mostly all unique
insaniak wrote: it would have been better without the dirt edging, which could look a little out of place on full-on urban boards.
I would paint the edging urban colors (grays, etc.) instead of dirt colors (the brown pictured)and it will look like urban rubble, particularly if you add a few pipes, pieces of metal scrap or stone blocks to it which could be done with a minimum of effort...

1.) They are not MY bases, I have no connection to Micro Art Studio (except meeting the folks once a year on the games fair "SPIEL Essen").
2.) In the smaller sizes, you get randomly selected bases. The more different sculpts, the higher the chance that all are different. Rarely a problem, as you need more of them anyway in most cases. In larger sizes (60mm up), all sculpts have their own article number.
Here the announcement for a fine release, terrain for Infinity:
Micro Art Studio wrote:We’re very happy to announce that Micro Art Studio has signed an agreement with Corvus Belli authorizing us to make the official terrains, bases and accessories for Infinity.
We’re starting with special Concrete Wall series. The wall is made of resin and there are special components to add Holoboard advertisements specially designed to fit “Infinity” world.
Stay tuned for more “designed for Infinity” products
Just a clarification: The green things above the walls are readily lasered transparent "neon-ads", that means bright plastic with the ads lasered on. Have seen them in person last October on the "Spiel 2010", they look great. More in that direction to come.
Not yet, but usually the release is within a week of the announcement, as the prototypes were ready 3 months ago.
IIRC the ads will be available separately as well.
Those are awesome walls and advertisements. Good on Corvus Belli to liscense out to you fine folks and get cool stuff made for their game. I don't play Infinity, but I own a lot of the figures and really like the course the company is plotting. Get some Dark Age style terrain and I will be set
Do those come prepainted by any chance? I assume Infinity is a similar scale to GW, and if so, those are some good height walls to have for terrain, despite no one here playing that game.
Those pads look great, for some reason the designs on the side of them reminded me of lizardmen, great work! Ill be sure keep this in my mind, for my next batch of troops
Those walls certainly come NOT prepainted as all their regular stuff.
But yes, on ebay they sell some bases painted, so you might ask what the fee is (those painted bases were not that expensive). They have good painters and converters that take commissions.
And they are always open to suggestions for new products: While I suggested the Skaven heads (and Nezumi name) some years ago, at least the Nezumi chem heads are certainly done because of my suggestion (at that time the Asian Nezumi heads were already in the works). So go ahead and write them your ideas.

Well, I have a pm from H.B.M.C. from a couple months ago, but I don't have one from you... but if you're interested as well, feel free to drop me a line and we can discuss.
After the Chapterhouse trial No seriously: The first WIP pics are just one month old, so I expect them in the next 1-2 months.
BTW: They are also working on Infinity modular walls/buildings! Here are the first concept sketches, but give them some time to realize and playtest (!) them:
Here another early WIP pic of a SciFi building system:
While I am at it, here a WIP pic of a converted Skaven Eshin army done by Hortwerth using Micro Art heads (I love those Sumo Rat Ogres with their hairdo!):
As always, the forest bases continue the fine Micro-Art tradition of making bases that are wonderful to look at but completely impractical when it comes to actually mounting models on them.
And a modular building system huh? In resin? That'll go well.
Hopefully they can get back to making Iron Brotherhood models quick-smart.
H.B.M.C. wrote:As always, the forest bases continue the fine Micro-Art tradition of making bases that are wonderful to look at but completely impractical when it comes to actually mounting models on them.
Ahh, they're not that bad...just need to pin and/or green stuff them to the base.
My problem with the Forest bases would be they look less like a forest to me, and more like an ex-forest or logging camp. Every base has stumps and/or chopped up tree bits? Can't be much of a forest left!
Aduro wrote:My problem with the Forest bases would be they look less like a forest to me, and more like an ex-forest or logging camp. Every base has stumps and/or chopped up tree bits? Can't be much of a forest left!
FLGS can already order them, e.g. Battlefield Berlin already has them in their webstore.
The Micro Art webstore sometimes takes more than a month to update, e.g. with the foam terrain.

Would like to see some bases for space ships/hulks with floor grating on them. Do know a Tyranid player and an Eldar player who will jump on the other ones though.

I need a flow chart for these threads, something like:
Start: Micro Art New Release!
Query: Is it Iron Brotherood related?
Option 1: Yes!
Option 2: No.
Option 1 Result: w00t! *gets out wallet*
Option 2 Result: Aww... don't care then...
While I love the designs, I'm inclined to agree with HBMC about the mounting issue. I'd love to see an eldar model ( a guardian or banshee, for instance) attached to the wraithstone base above to see how they manage to fit. Seems like they'd be a bit lean-y.

Wasteland bases for Iron Brotherhood
Wraithbone bases for Iron Brotherhood
I like those flag objective markers, would work well for something I've been wanting to do. Any chance of seeing some squad leader type tokens in that same green plastic?
I'm happy they completed the ancient bases line without delay. I'm also excited about the fur moulds--at near 20 euros the price is a bit high though. Thanks for this, Kroothawk.
Wow, those walkways look great! Are there going to be steps/ramps to acompany? Also, by any chance will they be roughly the same height as Cities of Death stuff?
Finally, is it worth making a second type of barrier that attaches to the sides of the walkway to allow for a double deck? Probably need it to be well spaced to allow for fingers.
Awesome stuff, and I look forward to being able to pick some up in the near future!
Someone did something very similar to this a while back IIRC cant think of the name at the moment but these look awesome. Will add those to my collection as soon as they can be bought.
If you like the direction taken by MAS in releasing the light and heavy fur moulds (great idea) then perhaps you will be happy to note that they will continue to release similar products.
New pics of the walkway made from wood, (High Density Fiberboard to be exact), first products in the HDF line and engineered so that you needn't glue them. Release next month:

Kroothawk wrote:New pics of the walkway made from wood, (High Density Fiberboard to be exact), first products in the HDF line and engineered so that you needn't glue them. Release next month:
Wow that's really not Iron Brotherhood... I mean really cool. Damn it! Why do I keep doing that...
Walkways are beautiful. Infinity is my go-to game if I can't get around GW's donkey-punching-as-fiscal-strategy. Corvus Belli makes some beautiful pieces that really need the appropriate terrain--like these walkways.
Now my question... how tall are they? My Nercomunda bulkheads are 2 and 3/4 inches to floor level. Will I be able to make the steps and walkways to approximately the same height?
Wow, those walkways are pretty sweet! Might well be tempted to pick up a few if I get sucked back into sci-fi and the price is right. Sadly, only the latter is up to you fine fellows.
Alpharius wrote:Even though these appear to be for the INFINITY line of accessories, the scale seems a bit off, and more appropriate for the Heroic Scale Oddities of 40K...
True scale steps would be far too small for the base of a figure, probably about 5mm deep.
I like the inclusion of a pusher tool in the kit. Perhaps next time they could include a silhouette of a man.

I agree these look like they are designed to be practical for gaming on.
KilKrazy wrote:I like the inclusion of a pusher tool in the kit...
I disagree, so what are they for pushing out the bits of material between grills that didn't fall out? It takes up space on the sprue, after I buy a bunch of these... and I will... I'll end up with 15 of these. that's wasted material/money IMO. If the tool is nessessary they should make a sheet rammed with pushers and include one or two with every order.
Thinking about it, with that being a promo shot I figure they cleaned that sheet up a a bit for the photo but left some of the waste in place so as to not be misleading. I bet when we get these most of the grills will need 'pushing'. Time consuming, But I think the end results will be worth it.
Indeed, bring on the walkways. Necromunda seems to be making a comeback everywhere, we started building towards having gangs ready for paractice games this week. These walkways will be making an appearance as soon as possible.
