My Forgeworld order arrived, but I'm busy with studying atm, so I'll wait till next week before I work on it.
I did take a look at the rider though. I won't have to do any conversion work on the horse, it has weird, sick-looking legs already and the gas mask is the final touch. However, the horse and the rider is a single piece, so I'll have to cut/saw the him of at waist level, so I can use a FW traitor torso.

The hunting lance is only a flimsy bit of resin. I thought it would be metal. Maybe I'll use Chaos Marauder arms with spears instead. Do you think naked arms would look good on the traitor bodies? It might be a nice contrast between my two platoons.

I also got tons of bitz from a friend. Now I'll be able to build me a Leman Russ with Plasma Cannons (too bad he can't have one in the hull as well ) and do some work on the command and veteran squads I have planned. Still not sure how to build my Commander though. Does anyone know when Creed will be releases in finecast?

I'm a bit busy with studying atm but yesterday evening I decided I needed a small break and took out the bitz box(es).

First, here's the Tech Priest again. You've probaby seen him on page 1 or 2 of this thread. Now I added two arms from the Talos sprue.

I've also been working on the Nurgle Talos/Venomtrope again. He now has two tentacles, which doesn't look quite as threatening as the giant claw he had before, but I like it this way. That way it looks creepy, but less dangerous then some of the Demons I field. Not sure how to paint the hull yet. Either in the camo green I use for tanks or the rusted metal I did on the Drone.

And here are a few things I've been working on for my Traitor Guard HQ. From left to right:

My Officer of the Fleet. Someone on Twitter suggested he needed "bling" so I thought the mask would work.
The Artillery Officer. A choice too good to pass up. Not very chaotic, but I really like how he turned out.
Just a small test how Cadian boots looks on Fantasy pants.
The radio guy for my main command squad.
Beastmen hoves on Cadian legs. I think I'll use those for the Veteran squad.
And the head in front is for my main HQ character, probably based on Strakan.

Actually, the Commander is the one model I haven't quite figured out yet. I'm probaby gonna build me another one later, based on Creed, but I'm not sure what to do with this one yet. He should look larger than the rest, something I can achive with the legs I also used on the Artillery Officer. Maybe I could add a milimeter or two by using Ork boots.
Strakan has a Plasma Pistol and a Shotgun. I have enough Shotguns lying around, but I'm considering giving him a scythe, just for the heck of it.

With the nurgle drone/ venomphrope i reckon rusty would look the best, and i am liking the hooves legs mixed with the cadian legs.

So I'm finally done with stuying for this Semester, now I can put some real work into this army.

I've run into a problem with my Commander. Originally I wanted to use Strackan's rules, because he's really awesome, but then I started building and came up with this guy.

Now here's the problem. First of all, I think he already looks pretty awesome. But there's no way I can give him a plasma pistol, a shotgun and something to justify his power in close combat without ruining the... dignity of the character. Shotguns are the biggest problem, there's just no room on him for those. So I probably will use the regular rules for the IG HQ choice (what's he called in English anyway? Company Commander?), though I still don't know how to equip him. The metal scythes too large and the power fist looks boring.
Any ideas?

Here are two more veterans. The one with the shield is a prototype for my 2nd Veteran squad where hopefully everyone will have a shield like that or a similar one, to represent the 4+ armor saves. I also gave the first veteran a shotgun, because I want both squads to have them.

Here are my first two snipers. Kroot rifles and Flagelant bodies are a nice combination, I just need to sculpt a hood and get a Space Marine laser sight.

I also really want to do something with the Red Faction walker toy I had lying around for over a a year now. I guess I'll just use it as an oversized power lifter Sentinel. The model is cool just the way it is, so I'll probaly only add some minor Chaos bitz.

Speaking of lying around, I found and old plastic bag full of collectible miniatures from D&D, Horrorclix and Dreamblade and now I'll have to figure out what to do with them. Any ideas?

Well, these are obviously some sort of cavalery, but I only have two and want my Guard to still use horses. Still, snails with saddles, I have to use them for something.

No idea what to do with them:

But there's got to be some room for these:

I see a Necron Lord from that robotic skeletal figure in the first view, but that might just be me. And the title for which you are looking is El Capitano, if my fake Spanish is working properly (Captain if it isn't). You could have said Captain's shotgun holstered on his back or just use a different variant. And weapons layout wise, converting that 2 handed flail into a 1 handed deal could make for a rather effective looking chaotic commander, or even turn it into a mace, if emulating the Word Bearers, if you wanted to.

Snail riders could work very well, maybe even within said squad of rough riders

Combine weapons, like the Necron Warscythe. Shotgun in the top of a scythe?

Post by: Anung Un Rama

@Lord Kaesar II: I can't put the shotgun on his back because of the cape. They're all pretty huge anyway.

@Anvildude: I'll think about it, but I can't quite imagine it right now.

Post by: Lord Kaesar II

Losing backpack abilities is always a problem I've found with the cape scene, though some people have just gone right over it, moving it around and such. An attendant could be holding the shotgun or he could keep it around his shoulder, which wouldn't particularly get in the way of the cloak but also be handy quickly. And, as always, there's more than 1 way to skin a cat- shotguns can come in all shapes and forms (or at least several). I've been known to carve up lasguns into shotguns as well as use scout shotguns, and then there's also using a look similar to the small, thin shotgun Forgeworld sells.

Some may call it madness, I call it persistent inspiration. Kaesar II

My brother got me a bunch of awesome stuff for my birthday, including a box of these:

I immediatly build and painted the first one, but somehow he doesn't look right. I used the same colors as with the rest of the army, but something just looks off.

He doesn't look very chaotic. What do you guys think?

He looks pretty sinister to me. But, he is lacking in typical spikey bits and what not. Maybe try dirtying him up a bit, namely, his coat. Is there any way to maybe give him a backpack respirator with tiny guitar strings running from his gas mask back to the respirator?

So, I'm leaving for Gamescom wednesday morning and take a small vacation right after that. So you probably won't see anything new from me until september and I thought I could post at least a little update in this blog and the other 2 active ones.

I recently found a very nice toy truck which has just the right scale for 40k. And I think it looks really good with a few of Traitor Guardsmen in it.

It adds to the ramshackle feel of the force, without drifting into Ork junk. What do you think?

That's awesome add some sandbags and a heavy weapon, or two to the roof, and it would make a kickass counts as Chimera.

I've been looking at a truck a bit longer and I really really like it. But there's no way it'll be able to attach a gun resembling a Heavy Bolter without making it look stupid. And it'll be open-topped on way or the other.

I just wanted to say that you are extremely creative regarding building yer Traitor Guard and are also an excellent painter. Keep up the good work.

Also, I like the toy truck, lol. All you need to do is paint it so it looks old and Nurglish and it'll be perfect.

Thanks Lictor, I appreciate that.

And it doesn't even have to look that nurgly. I just wish there were some decent rules for vehicles in the IG list that aren't tanks.

Looking nice! For the heavy bolter, you could mount one in a cupola over the passenger's seat? A second weapon could be crewed by the passengers.

I'm thinking of adding a traitor guard army to go with them, I feel this will be a great source of inspiration. Thank you for sharing.

Not much today, folks. I was doing some minor stuff last evening while playing Gemini Rue.

First of, I have an idea for Commisars. I will call them Reapers (not releated to giant alien machines poised on destroying every lifeform in the galaxy) and build them with gasmasks, hood and cloak whenever possible. Maybe a scythe or two on a few models. I hope to make them stand out by using darker colors than usual. The one you see on the left is kinda a prototype, he just needs a bolt pistol.

In the middle, you can see my first wip medic. Heroic scale heads (from the Wargames factory Shock Troops btw.) don't quite fit with the non-heroic-scale Warmachine figs, but it should look better with a bit of GS.

The third on is the Anima Tactis mini I've posted above who will be either used as officer of the fleet or maybe even my company commander. I drilled a few holes and cut a few corners into his coat, to make him a look a bit more chaos-y, I'm not sure what head to use though. I have this really cool Chuthulhu head (also from the Shock Troops), but I'm not 100% sure if that's where I want to go with this army. A simple gas mask looks pretty neat as well and I could just add an officers cap to it.

The Rotten Forge - combined forces of Nurgle @ 2011/09/21 03:27:56

Post by: Anvildude

Go with the tentacles. The wave of the coat will look good with the danglin' bits, and the dichotomy of the chaotic, 'slimy sea creature' head with the stiff, regal pose of the body will look rather cool, I think.

The Rotten Forge - combined forces of Nurgle @ 2011/09/21 07:34:34

Post by: Anung Un Rama

Good point, Anvildude. Though I have to say, I love how the gasmask looks on the body. And the tentacle head would look great on one of the medics as well.

And I still haven't decided if I want him to be the commander, or just officer of the fleet. He's 30mm, so he will stand out.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And I'm back. Here are the head mock-ups for the guy in the coat, I just used some GS to check how it would look with a cap. Let me know what you think.

Still not entirely sold on the tentacle head. I have more, but it just looks so much better on one of the medics:

And speaking of medics, I finished the first 2.

And here's the first counts as Commisar again, this time with a Bolt pistol.

Suggestions, comments and criticism are welcome and appreciated.

The Rotten Forge - combined forces of Nurgle @ 2011/09/21 19:31:57

Post by: LoneLictor

I'd suggest having the tentacle head on the medic and the gasmask head on the commandah guy, but that's just me. Great work!

The Rotten Forge - combined forces of Nurgle @ 2011/09/22 05:04:11

Post by: CommissarKhaine

Gasmask for the commander, definitely. love the tentacle heads though, but they need some more squidness with the rest of the mpoidel - or maybe wings and a few (small) deep ones?

The Rotten Forge - combined forces of Nurgle @ 2011/09/22 07:39:30

Post by: Anung Un Rama

I'll probably use the gasmask head for the commander. Though I've found another one this morning. A Warzone head, with gasmask and WW1 style spiked helmet. That would look great with the style of the model.
Unfortunatly there is no way I can attach any kind of weapon. The coat covers to much of the legs.

Distractions, yay!

Do you know that feeling, when you have an idea you really want to do, but know it has to wait because your table is way too full at the moment.
Here's the thing: I really like Ogryns. And I want them in my army. Here's another thing: I adore the Forge World Renegade Ogryns, but their rules are stupid. So the plan is, to field a mix of regular Ogryns and FW Ogryns, to justify at least some shooting. I'll probably build an Ogryn or two with two guns, just to make up for it.
Anyway, I have a bunch of 3rd edition Ogryns and LotR Trolls from a sale lying around. I just have to convert them a bit, to match the style of the Forge World Ogryns and traitor models I have in my army. Here's the first one.

I've also "build" another commissar:

...and decided the Medic with the Chuthulhu head need more tentacles:

right hand can almost be left as is, just nsert a top handle like SM scout shave; left hand will need some angling, or you can try to get hold of some ogre hands for more options.

Still not sure about the guy. I realise how much he would look like Kroenen with a gas mask and a cap, but it would look pretty sweet too and fit my army's style.

I was considering doing a Kroenen-like character as Sly Marbo counts-as, but dropped the idea again. I already know what I want my 3 elite slots to be.

Actually, I used a really cheap trick. There's no real hand attached to the end of the autocannon, but the Ogre iron fist covers that space up juuuuuust fine.

I was visiting some friends yesterday and bought some of their old 40k stuff. I have a full Rhino sprue, but I'm not sure yet if I want to field it my Death Gaurd or convert it into an Ork truck.
I also got this here:

Never was a big fan of the griffon. Until I really looked at it. This tank is just perfect for my army. All I need are some cultists and a sheel that looks impressive enough.

Then there are these guys:

You alreadly know the guy in the back row. On his left is another veteran with gasmask head, hooves and a shotgun, something I hope I can pull off for the whole squad. The big guy on the right will be a bodyguard. After I saw this beauty in the gallery I went out and bought the new fantasy Nurgle champion. I was thinking of giving him a chainsaw weapon to make him look more 40k-ish, but I still had that half scythe lying around and it just fitted perfectly. I'll add some more bitz and maybe try sculpting boots as well.

I have some suggestions on cutting, if you have not already done this. I'm doing the same thing and have found: You can't remove the torso without damaging it some-what. Take the DKoK torso off in chunks. Shave away at it very gently. Once that arm is free of the torso it snaps EASILY... If you wanna re-use the head, cut it clean-off, because it gets in the way of cutting that torso out.

You will feel a tinge of pain doing this. Traitor or not, the words "cut up a death korp torso" sends tears to many.

Thank you. Do keep in mind though, that Blight Drones are bigger than you might think and the Talos is quite small. That's a 40mm base.

The exhaust pipes are from the cityfight Manofactorum sprue.

I finished building my Griffon last night but I only took a picture with my new phone. I wonder if I can upload it directly on Dakka.

That model cracks me up so badly. I can see him sliming along doffing his cap with the most horrid "Mary Poppins chimney sweep" fake accent saying " 'Eeeellllo Guv-nah! Broight an' lovely day it is, but not as lovely as you! 'Ere, 'ave a bitta Plague! There ya go, off with ya! Pip pip, cheerio, etc"

Very cool, expensive but very cool.

I have always liked the traitor guard torsos since I got a batch in my first FW order.

Very cool, but a tiny bit of GS on the horse to show some small festering wounds, a few boils, maybe a nasty rash of some sort.

The Rotten Forge - combined forces of Nurgle @ 2012/01/07 08:26:49

Nice model. Will the Nurgle feel come with the paintjob, or will you be greenstuffing some sores, etc... on the bare areas?

The Rotten Forge - combined forces of Nurgle @ 2012/01/07 09:44:46

Post by: Anung Un Rama

Oh yes, boils, I really have to put some boils on that thing.

Though in my experience, the paintjob really does most of the job. Just look at my traitor guard infantry.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Currently I'm trying to sculp pants and boots on a LotR Troll, so I can field him as my third Ogryn. Until then, I have some other ideas I want to share with you.

First up is the fluff for my army. So far, there really isn't any. I started naming the units in my CSM force, but that never amounted to anything. I have a Demon Prince I once named Anthrax, but I need to work on that as well.

Then I had an idea: tinfoil once called my Pleague Reaper a "Factory of Destruction" and the more I think about it, I really like the sound of that. A few Chaos and Nurgle models have that "industrial" feeling as well, like the FW Demon with the barrel on his back or the boney smoketacks on Typhus and the GW Nurgle prince.
Whenever I get around to build that Pleague Tower based on the Manofactorum I have planned it certainly will look the part as well. And my new greater Demon I posted above could be some sort of shareholder.

Which brings me to my next model: I got this beauty for christmas.

I love that model. I adore it. I also hate it with all my heart because GW released it a few weeks after I finished my own Nurgle prince.
So far, I'm not sure what to with it. Because I just have to convert him somehow. I hate the head, that one has to go, but what about the rest? I already have a flying prince, two in fact, so this one will stay grounded. The sword is too awesome not to use. I'm considering giving him different smokestacks on the back, probably something from the Manofactorum sprue or maybe something orky.

The Rotten Forge - combined forces of Nurgle @ 2012/01/09 20:12:45

Post by: Skalk Bloodaxe

How large is that model (say, compared to a Terminator)? I agree that the individual parts are greater than the combined whole. I hate that model, but some of the parts are completely epic. Looking forward to seeing what you do with.

The Rotten Forge - combined forces of Nurgle @ 2012/01/09 20:35:42

Post by: CommissarKhaine

Put him on tracks/defiler, give him a meched up head, and turn him into a machine of destruction. The, he can count as a vindi or a defiler, dedicated to Nurgle.

The Rotten Forge - combined forces of Nurgle @ 2012/01/09 22:27:14

Post by: Anung Un Rama

Just so you know, I'm talking about this model here. He's standing on a 40mm base, just like the other GW Demon Prince models. Definetly too small for a Tank.

The Rotten Forge - combined forces of Nurgle @ 2012/01/14 15:37:01

Post by: Anung Un Rama

This is a photoshoped concept of what I want to do with the Nurgle Demonprince to make him look more "industrial". The sword is too awesome not to use, but I'm not sure what I could do with the other arm.

The Rotten Forge - combined forces of Nurgle @ 2012/01/14 15:45:42

Post by: Starfarer

Nice mockup on the DP! I would change his left arm to something more mechanical, perhaps a DCCW.

I did something similar on my old defiler, and I'm obviously biased, but I think it could look cool on a DP.

You could probably use the killa kan buzz saw arm thing for his left arm. I can't recall whether or not it's too orky.

I've only just join DAKKA, but I feel obliged to say that your mock up looks awesome, , a great improvement on the GW version, with not too much work, I don't think you need to do anything to the other arm. I'll be following this.

Post by: CommissarKhaine

Nice mockup! Is the body that much smaller then a defiler turret? Can't really guess as to whhether it would be too small. Mockup is looking great, maybe holding a badass gun in the other hand? or you could expand the fly-like chimney thingey on his wrist into a flame thrower?

The Rotten Forge - combined forces of Nurgle @ 2012/01/14 17:17:53

Post by: Anung Un Rama

Thanks for the kind words and the feedback.

The buzzsaw sounds good in theory, though I'm not sure if I want him to have only one regular hand. A regular DCCW would be too big I'm afraid. I might use the drill from the Inquisitor Techpriest from which I want to use the head.

@Khaine: Definetly a lot smaller than a Defiler turret. The flame thrower is a nice idea though, since a lof of my models have or will get some form of template weapon to share Nurgle's favourite new weapon, the bright green slime you see on my models.

The Rotten Forge - combined forces of Nurgle @ 2012/01/14 18:54:38

Never realized the daemin prince was that small. For a second cc weapon, you could nurglify a daemonhammer from a dreadknight? If you close the hand, you can have an additional cc weapon and the flamer thingy on top.

Another small update for the army.

Here's the first model for a heavy weapon squad. My brother got me the metal models for my Birthday last summer and I think they work quite well. Though I don't have all the models I need for the squad to look exactly the same, so I'm improvising a bit and will add a few GW parts here and there.

A "flamer" and another veteran with Beastmen legs and a shotgun.

Now for the fun part. As I have written before, I just love the look of the FW traitor stuff and try to work it into my army when I can. That's why I converted a 2nd edition Ogryn to look more like the FW Ogryns. But now I need a third one before I can field the unit. Good thing I once bought a few LotR Trolls from a friend for a very low price. Okay, they might not all be complete, I'm missing a few arms and heads here and there, but the bodies will do just fine.

I tried to be a bit more ambitious with the green stuff this time around and sculpted him some pants. Yes, I sculpted pants on a Lord of the Rings Troll. And boots.
Then I added a weapon, another Autocannon, since there are sadly now single Ogryn guns I could use. The pose could be better, but with the arms I had available, this seemed like the best choice.
Next thing to do is make him a head with those cool googles under a hood and extend said hood in rags over his back and shoulder to cover up the fur west he's wearing. After that I'll just have to add a few IG bitz and voila, Renegade Ogryn. Whaddaya think?

Nice Ogryn, looking forward to seeing where it goes, and the mockup is really decent. I agre to keep the arm the same, but would cut / file some of the chains and other gubbins off the sword.

I finally got something done!

Here's the first tank for my Traitor Guard (well, except the Pleague Reaper that is), an old Griffon with a few bitz added.

And I finally finished my bodyguard. Though I have to say, I like him so much, I might use him as a commander instead.

I just noticed that I painted him wrong. The bit of cloth that's hanging over on his backside should be painted in a khaki, so it fits with my army colors.

I did it again. Has is seriously been two months since I last updated this blog? Gork, damnit. Well, at least I can give you a handful of shots from the gaming table. 1st May is a national holiday in Germany and my gaming group used it for an Apocalypse battle. 2 Chaos players vs. 2 Empire and 1 Eldar player, with 7000 points on each side. A lot of my Death Guard however was still WIP from the rebuilding I did a few months back, so I had so paint more Marines and doe it fast. I finished a few, but now I don't want to see another Power Armor for at least 2 months.
Still, I thought when I can't give you anything new, I might at least give you some nice pictures of models you already know.

I probably won't be updating this blog for some time, but you all subscribed to it anyway, so you'll know when that changes, right?

In January 2011 I posted a photoshop mock-up of a creature I had in my head for quite some time. You might remember it from way back:
 Anung Un Rama wrote:

I was playing around with Photoshop some more. I like the concept sp far, but I'm not sure what to do about the head.

Well, the local store recently had a special discount offer on large boxes (he called it tanks-giving ) and I finally caved in and got the project rolling: I bought a Hellpit Abomination and a Forgefiend and ripped the top of my old Defiler which I never used anyway. Here's what I have so far:

The official pictures really don't do the regular abomination justice. It's much more worm-like than I thought, twisting and turning it's wretched corpse of a body. Originally I had planned to just put the body on the Defiler body and call it a day, but when I glued the bodyparts together, I noticed how I could brake up the classic chassis of the Defiler: by attaching the front claws to the Abomination body instead of the machine part.

I'm not sure what other parts of the Fiend I'm going to use. I was originally planning to use the Maulerfiend parts, because a Forgefiend with huge plasma cannons would fit nicely into the look of my CSM army, but I also really like the plasma cannon head, because it looks more machine-ish than the other one.
Not sure what rules I should use. Forge World has nice rules forsomething called a Plague Hulk, but I'm not sure how the rules compare to the updated Soul Grinder.

Post by: Moltar

That thing looks awesome!

I'm surprised at how well that fiend head looks up there. Any plan to continue those metal plates down the back of his neck?

The Rotten Forge - combined forces of Nurgle @ 2012/11/05 21:51:09

Post by: Anung Un Rama

That would probably look pretty cool, but I'll have to watch out, that can still build a Forgefiend with what's left when I'm done with this thing.

The Rotten Forge - combined forces of Nurgle @ 2012/11/11 23:12:11

Post by: Anung Un Rama

I'm still working on the Soul Grinder, but I could use some feedback. The head and arms from the Maulerfiend look great and I'm probably gonna use the back plate from the Fiend as well to armor the upper body a bit more. There's just one thing missing. Guns. No matter if I use him as Defiler, Soul Grinder or Plague Hulk, he needs some kind of cannon or gun. He can't vomit it all.

...

I just had another idea. Why not drop the entire Soul Grinder idea and just use him as Mauler Fiend. They're pretty large anyway.

Not sure what to use as other hand. I think a 2nd powerfist would look good, but my brother mentioned that he wouldn't have a way to attack anyone.

It's a Chaos Lord on Palanquin of Nurgle btw.

Regarding my Fiend-grinder-filer-abomination, I just noticed something. The combined body is great, but the head and arms don't look particular nurgly. I'm tempted to rip them off and replace them with something that looks more frail and weak.

The Rotten Forge - combined forces of Nurgle @ 2013/01/19 16:57:13

Post by: Anung Un Rama

Time for another round of photos. First, my slow progress on the Lord on Palanquin. I tried to make the Agonizers look more like Pleaguebearers and the Lord got a second powerfist. I'm not sure if I should put a weapon into the fist, so he looks like he could actually attack someone. I really like it this way.

Also worked on my Soul Grinder some more. Since I couldn't find any good spot to add a gun, I just used the head from the Forgefiend. Problem was, I used a lot of plastic glue when I added the Maulerfiend head, so I kinda ruined that one a little bit when I tore it off. And I also completly ruined the Fiend's neck, which you now can't even see anymore. If I ever get around to finish the Forge Fiend, I'm gonna need some new parts.

It was worth it though, The new head looks a hell of a lot better than the previous one and fits the "beast forced into machine"-look much better than the previous one. You can't see its face which makes it look less aggressive, but certainly not less scary. I added a small smokestack on the plate on his back and am currently trying to figure out if I'd like to see even more stacks on him. It would work in favor of my "evil factory" style I have on a few models.

Updates! For real this time. I finally got around to finish and prime the buggers, now I'm off to my least favourite part. Painting the damn things.
Seriously though, painting the Nurgle stuff is usually quite fun and I really can not wait to see how the finished Soulgrinder will look like. The armor parts will stay in the dark green you see here, but the skin is going to be a bright, sickly looking rotting flesh tone to match my demons.

I used a Killakan part on the shoulder because I wanted it too look a little bit more broken and stitched together.

Next up the Nurgle Lord. I'm halfway done priming him while typing this.

The plague bearers are now armed.

I added the vents from the CSM demon prince. They look like they're not symetrical, but they totally are when you look at it just the right way.

Can't have a Nurgle character without a big tank of something on his back, right? And look where it leads...

There are no really good rules to represent something like this on a Nurgle Lord, so I'll just have to go with combi-flamer.

Though I got a little bit of other painting done as well. I finally finished the third traitor Ogryn. While planning on building a traitor guard army I switched out the close combat weapon on one of the Forgeworld Renegade Berzerker Ogryns for an Autocannon. After that I added some green stuff on a classic 3rd edition ogryn to make him look like his bigger cousin. And finally, I converted a metal LotR Troll I had lying around to fit in with the other two. Isn't it cute how short the classic Ogryn looks in comparison?

I wasn't exactly sure what to do about the face of the flyer. I think I do now.

Seriously, that would be perfect, though I'm not 100% sure if the Slaughterfiend tentacles would still fit. Gotta wait for a full picture of the model and find a Tyranid player who doesn't want it.

Okay, one last post here before I start working on the flyer.

I finally got around to take some pictures from my Chaos Lord of Palanquin. They're still not the best photos though. Something just seems to prevent me to take decent pictures with the guy, I don't know what it is.

Sorry to keep you waiting, but it was totally worth it.
So this morning I was experimenting with some putty and the parts for the flyer to see if everything would work out as I planned. The body from the Goblin Spider-thingy (Araknoborok..something), engines from the FW Plague Drone (don't look at me like that, I still had one unfinished, alright?!) and the tentacles from the Maulerfiend. But something was missing. I didn't want to use the regular face, otherwise it would've looked too much like the spider. And then... well, I still had a gift card from christmas and I just couldn't resist.

Yes, I kinda/sorta bought a huge Tyranid creature because I liked the head. Sue me. That's not say I won't find other uses for the rest. I still have half a Forgefiend lying around, since I needed some parts for my Soulgrinder. But I'll show you those later.
This is still an early concept stage. I'm considering using the back plate from the Fiend on top, but I don't have it at the moment. Adding the Tyranid tentacles will require a lot of cutting and GS work and I hope I won't ruin it, like I did with the Forgefiend neck. Once it's done it'll be a giant ugly mess of hungry looking tentacles.

I can't wait.

so insane !!!

And the hacking of multiple, high-end models must have you praying for avoiding errors !

Good luck on that one, it looks promising !

Started gluing. I like where this is going.

Building a model like this leaves me with a lot of leftover parts. I wasn't sure what to with the rest of the Drone.

...

Say, I never did anything with that Forgefiend body, did I?

That Plague Drone is looking great, and I can't wait to see what you do with the Forgefiend body! I wish I had conversion skills half as good as yours.

Hey guys, I could use some feedback on this one. As you can see two posts up, I'm working on Mauler/Forgefiend. I still had the body left over from my Soulgrinder conversion and then had this idea of adding a FW Drone as head and the huge arms from the Tyranid creature.

First off, I'm considering ripping of the Drone butt from my w.i.p. flyer and attach it to the back of the Fiend instead. Might be a better fit.

Then there are the legs. Originally I had planed to use the hind legs from the Tyranid, but it it's current form I'd have to put them on some rocks or something, because the body is too high.

Another idea would be using these mechanical legs from a toy I still have lying around.

Now my brother is telling me I should't give this thing hind legs at all. But if I go with that, I'd have to rip of the arms again and lower his backside more to the ground.
Once the body is done, I'll probaby add the teeth from the spider in front of the Drone and attack the Plasma cannons on top where the exhaust pipes usually sit.

Don't need to lower the back of the body if you don't want legs. Could utilize sculpting to give it tentacles dragging along the ground or a massive slug/snail foot behind there. Or sculpt/carve it up like it was cut in half, and is simply walking about on its forelimbs- it's entirely possible to balance on arms horizontally if you're not humaniform.

Can't you adjust the angle of the body, so that the FW Drone head is higher, and its hind part lower ?

I think it looks bestial with two sets of legs... But I don't think it needs the "waste disposal apparatus" from the Drone... It looks great as it is on the flyer !

Just my advice... I'm not sure you need it, considering your skills

I made my decision. I'll add the hind legs from the Tyranid and add the cannons from the Forgefiend to use him as such. And it will probably get the... apparatus from the Drone. Though that will depend if I can find a suitable replacement part for the tail end of the flyer.

Oh look! I still have a spiked tail from the Hellpit Abomination.

Now with more tentacles!

The Forgefiend is coming along really well. I just need to fill out a few gaps with green stuff. As you can see on the chitin plates on the large legs, I added a bit of putty and tried to make it look like the metal part from the drone. I don't plan to cover the whole chitin (because I won't reach everywhere anyway ), but I hope it will look good enough once I'm done painting. Though I feel like I have to do something about the naked shoulders.

Using those legs on the fiend was just the right decision! It's coming along swimmingly!

I also just spotted the added maw underneath the Blight Drone "head", which makes me love the model even more! Brilliant work!

And they're done. Well, mostly done. Well, at least game-ready. And they should be, because I want to field them on friday and don't have any time tomorrow, so I'll have to do the list now.

Better pictures and close-ups will follow soon, I just wanted to share this with you.

Up next is.... I don't know yet. Just for kicks, I'm considering converting/painting some barricades in case I need them. Maybe the Rhino I have lying around. And then I might actually start working on that Plaguetower because I have an Apocalypse game coming up.

Project Plague Tower is go.

I've spent the last few evenings cutting and gluing parts from the Manofactorum and the Khorne Lord of Skulls. The plan is, well... this:

Spoiler:

However, so far I'm not a 100% certain on how to use the tracks. Just putting the tower on top of the regular set-up for the Lord of Skulls seems like the most obvious option, but also like the laziest. But if I want to use them in a different set-up I might need another set of tracks. Suggestions and other comments are very welcome.

I had a new idea. Instead of the regular Lord of Skulls-layout, I'll put all four tracks in the front row with some sort of roller or plow in the middle, and another tank behind for support.

Ooh... the idea of a plow...

4 tracks (or just 2...) in front- then a giant rusty plowshare tearing up the ground behind...

I don't see how this would work or be useful in any way. I want a plow in front to make it wider.

What kind of plow are you thinking of? Like a snowplow? I'm thinking more like this...

taken from livingindryden.org

A huge plowshare, churning up the earth and sowing pestilence and rot in the ground behind it.
