I'll start painting them tomorrow evening, I'm almost out of black paint. I forgot to buy Chaos Black But, I may have just enough to base-coat one model.
On second thought, I may not have enough time tomorrow. After lunch, I'm going to the movies, seeing True Grit, then get home, eat dinner, and make ready to go out to a jazz café. haaah fun times as a regular customer in my local jazz café with good friends. What's not to like about that.
Hey Scrazzman nice hobby Blog! Like your fledgling guard force and really like the look of your Tanith style veterans. I must say That's a great colection of non GW minis you've just bought i especially like the 'Brennus' dude. Great fiction as well! Your compliments on my own Fiction are even more appreciated now i see the quality of your own work! I will take a more in depth look at all the pages soon, might be some hidden conversion gems.
I'm sure I'll do that. I can't now, I've switched over to my crappy laptop and I can't view pictures. Plus, there's no hope I'll be going on the computer tonight, My dad's on it right now. First thing I'll do tomorrow.
Good to see you posting again matey, the guard colour scheme is really nice , good choice , but the new models look super, especially like the roman and the norse.
monkeytroll wrote:Ohh, those pit-beasts and Trask look like they have some cool bits for lootin' And the Decurion looks really nice, who produces him?
The decurion is actually a Centurion. (My mistake) And it is produced by Tale of War. The model is 32 mm though. I bhought him for funs, an just to paint.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Hello again .
I just went through the Urban Mammoth site again, and I took another look at the Viridian Special Forces.
I'm considering buying some more of these, painting them like my guard army, and count them as stormtroopers. (painted greyè flak armor, and red clothes.)
I have everything assembled, and have started painting. The two pit beasts are done, and I have started work on the Viridian Special Forces, of which I'm going to buy more, and use them as storm-troopers. Captain Lee Hammer might be suitable to lead the storm trooper squad, or otherwise I'll buy the special forces sergeant model.
Hey Hendaron! Long time ago. I don't know yet. I like the models, the game looks promissing and all, though I'm going to need D12 dices I dunno, maybe just paint them up for funs, and use a couple of them for Necromunda. I know I'm going to use most of the Viridians to add more interesting models to my guard army.
Hey, we should have another game sometime, Hendaron!
Ooh nice update Scrazza, the minis look excellent , loving your captain, and good work on the pit beasts , really liking the style of your men. this is gonna be interesting i can smell it. check out your updated fluff asap ;-)
neil101 wrote:Ooh nice update Scrazza, the minis look excellent , loving your captain, and good work on the pit beasts , really liking the style of your men. this is gonna be interesting i can smell it. check out your updated fluff asap ;-)
Thanks Neil.
I will try to paint something these days. We just had a week's holiday, and school started again today. School's having a blast, at our expense.
Update time. I finished a small piece of terrain, plus I finished the count as storm troopers. And I started on Captain Lee Hammer, who I will rename to captain [insert name], with added fluff. :nod
At least, I thought I was done with the stormtoopers, afterwards I reckoned storm troopers didn't need backpack. the wole idea of stormtroopers lugging camping equipment with them is stupid. Hence the unpainted backs with a hole in it. I will fill it with greenstuff, and start work on their backs this evening. Nefore or after I started on another piece of terrain.
Another update. I have sculpted some 'worky bits' on those stormtroopers backs, just like Captain Hammer has on his one. I tried to replicate it, and it turned out rather nice. I also played a game against Hendaron today. No batrep, but there are pics of my deployment, and a pic after Hendaron's first movements phase.
Darkvoidof40k wrote:Your GS is looking pretty good! But.. is that.. unpainted areas that I SEE?! HERETIC! (bottom pic, the dudes back.. has black bits..)
(edit: Late night spelling )
Thanks! Myeah, there were backpacks there, but I pulled them off after I painted the models. I have to start over again with the backs of those two miniatures.
Thanks Neil! Yeah it was a 1500 game of IG (me) vs BA (Hendaron) We played cities of death, but chose to just go with two objectives and two stratagems.
In the end I controlled one objective (The big factory that JUST isn't vissable in the two pictures. The other one I contested. I had nothing to destroy that dreadnaught with, in combat. The second objectice saw the 'fortress' in which there is a dreadnaught and some devastators. But, yes I won.
I'm not going to write a full batrep on this, I can't be bothered to at the time. Heck, most of the time, I can't even be bothered to do anything in the hobby. X 2
Darkvoidof40k wrote:You let a 'nought get into combat with your squishy guardsmen meatshields?
The Commissariat will be having a quiet word with you, commander..
I couldn't get him out of there with shooting, it was 5th turn, and Everything I had left that could do something against it either missed, or failed to penetrate. So, I didn't assault him, i got withing two inch of the objective to contest it. so it was 1 objective for me, and 0 for Hendaron. = Win for the 17th Khazak Infantry.
Thanks again, for the kind words! I hope I can keep improving. The stubber's from an Imperial Guard tank kit. It comes with every Guard tank out there, Chimera, Leman Russ, Basilisk,...
Update time! I finally finished the two storm-troopers. Oh, and the stormtrooper captain is done too. Hmm, now to get more of these. hehe. I was thinking of converting a cadian to something like those. I need two meltagunners, and then this could be played as a legal unit. some greenstuff, some cutting, and those heads that come with the command squad, you know, those with the caps on. Hope that will work out.
Unfortunatly I have run out of models to represent the stormtroopers. So, now I have to wait until I can save the money for more But for now, I'm happily working on the Secutor Gladiators .
The NMM gorget looks really good and shiny. Your Scifi sergeant guy with the beard is also very well painted. I too really like that 'Cyber Murmillo' gladiator.
BUT, I have come up with some fluff for yet ANOTHER Guard army. Just some rough ideas though. The idea sprang from reading Flesh And Iron, by Henry Zou (An Imperial Guard BL novel)
o to the idea. The planet name: Ousia. The idea for representing these guys is to just take a basic Cadian model, roughen him up so that he looks like a man who lived in a swamp for his whole life. The colors will be a drab green, mixed with different sorts of greens.
Fluffwise: Ousia is a swamp covered planet, and it's people are of the rural type. Imagine a swamp filled with dangerous animals like gator's and feral orks. They use swamp barges to travel through the smudgy bayous.
So, a jungle/swamp specialized army, yet not Catachans. whadaya think? Any help would be appreciated. I am starting work on the test scheme tonight, but I don't know when it'll be finished. My hobby life has slackened these past few days...
Hmmm, They don't look like what I was aiming at, but thanks either way. I was thinking of normal cadians, but with some small alterations made. you know, roughen 'em up.
hey scrazz sounds like a fun project, why not just make a squad though , i would go bear arms and cadian body, catachan legs, with lots of black face stripes , and beanies and camo , make every one a specialist , sniper with hood etcc. then give them a hover craft.
Thanks Neil! Yeah, the video really showed what I had in mind for the environs. Your idea of the parts sound nice, but I wouldn't go all bare arms. Some mixing and matching with the cadian and catachan parts, and maybe some other GW bitz will really look good IMO. But I'm not too sold on the idea of camouflaging their faces. maybe some dirt stained clothing, but camouflaged faces? meh.
After I do the test model, I was thinking of making a small diorama, of a ten men squad sailing through the bayou on river patrol on a swamp barge. Imagine a squad of guardsmen relaxing on their home-planet Ousivia, amidst the hordes of stalking feral orks. Then imagine the ousians relaxing to some chill music.
Personally, I can really see them being lazy sailing to this song :
so its a nam feel then , thats what that music says to me ., you should make them lazy sons too , all beard and long hair like donald sutherland in nearly any war movie he has been in. not that long hair and beards equals lazy , as i have short hair and no beard
Must have men with beards hahaha! Really, I totally last the idea of beards and long hair.
Yeah, I'm going for a Vietnam style unit, but the colors are a 'bit' different. I just finished the flak armor, gun and helmet on the test model. Pics will be up tomorrow, but as a spoiler, I used the colors :
Spoiler:
Catachan green, camo green, and skull white to make lighter tones for highlighting.
The idea of lazy gaks was my initial thought of doing. I want them all stroling on the deck, hanging over the rails, sitting sipping alchohol, smoking and the two only men who are 'actice' are the captain and the gunner who, lazily, still do their jobs for the Emperor!
I really dread the idea of scratchbuilding a swamp barge though, it seems so daunting...
Well you could take some notes from Monkeytrolls hovvawagon, i also remeber seeing a paper built viet nam style boat in the tutorials section i think . looked perfect for those nam style gun boats. and i found this custom built one , which has a tutorial to go with it.
edit image doesnt work
And yes, I want to see a hovercraft The basis for my hovvawagon has been sitting around for years whilst I tried to figure how to make it work for my Swamp Rats. I want to see a guard version, then I might go back and make mine
Chaos marauder heads for the bearded, long-haired look, and a few guys cut off at the knees so they can be wading through mangrove swamps
hmmm, the pic doesn't show, and I can't seem to find it in the link.
sorry, I can't seem to find any info you posted.
EDIT, you fixed it now, I can see it, thanks!
BUT, I have found some inspiration of myself: prepare for a buckload of picture
@monkeytroll: the link to the tutorial is really helpfull. I put it with favorites, and it definatly deserves a look into, thanks!. oh and I have been looking through your pictures, but I just can't seem to find any pics of your hovvawagon, could you please link 'em here?
And thanks for the help! Marauder heads, I'll get em someway The idea of cutting of their legs will work fine, but I kinda pictured them all on the boat.
Ohyessir, you must make a Charkos model (provided he survives.. use him as Lieutenant [special character name] or as one of the Platoon Commander special characters).
Ahah, don't make him just yet! Wait till the end of the story! Who knows what "rewards" he will be blessed with and what "encounters" he might survive.
really like the style of this guy , its achange to see a brighter scheme too. like what you did with his boots . now they look like the armour plating ;-) it all ties together very well. maybe a few washes would add to that swampy effect, also nice touch with the helmet;-)
Great Nam Man. I think you have nailed the colours perfectly. Have you thought about modelling some 'Nam era GI flak jackets? I think they would look ace.
Y'know Scrazzobin, lookin' at that guy again in a clearer mind (mornin' all) I quite like him. But the base puts me off.. definitely get some clumpy grass and water effects on there! Make a real swamp of it!
@Neil: Thanks! Yeah the base needs some more attention, don't it? I'll try to make it work. The idea for this model was to use no washes and no metal colors. It has worked so far, but the base dearly nddes some wash.
@Darko: haha, glad you like it now Thanks! Like I said before, I'll see what I can do about the base
Darkvoidof40k wrote:Darker green required, methinks.
I'm with this guy. If you want it to be camoflagued, make it darker, so he can lie down in the mud and not be seen. Ok, not brown, but I'm saying darker green.
hey scrazza... guess your blog will take the better half of a complete day to read through^^...so i will be basing my post here on your recent RPG related model...
like the choice of bits! he looks very good, also would be nice to see some more shots of him as i cant seem to catch where you wanted to go NMM on him... but thats just totally me as this tech is new to me... but i am very interessted in that methode!... as to your base...do you by chance know of window colors? i would recomend clear colors of this to use to create a very cheap watereffect! also would use some grass or something to give a living feel to the base... i understand that the base is wip but there needs to be something to get it more of a 3D look...
other than that i am also a great user of red IGs and i am thinking the lighter green is something thats very nice for a change of schemes... have to invent a good new one for my guys when i will be doing something new...well this might take some time ^^since my backlog is stuffed with stuff^^
The Catachan kits have some flak jackets. I could take those and build it up from there.
I did some more work on the Ousian's base. Not much, but I'll show it to you all tomorrow. Oh and I started painting a new piece of urban terrain. I reckoned my field looked a bit off with all those tiny pieces of terrain and that one big one. Pics tomorrow! Or later

will be now a regular^^
cheers, and see you later, vik
Yeahn this thread started in 2010 I think so it's quite a lot to read through. I'll take some new shots of his face and all. There isn't much metal on him. Just the gun muzzle, the ammoclip, the stock, and the belt and eagle symbol on the lasgu are done NMM.
I added a devlan mud wash over the base allready I wanted a smudgy look. I'll greenstuff some fallen leaves on it's base, add a few 'organic' bits, and voila! It should look 'swampy' enough
Yeah, it's something different for me too I diverterted from my grey and red color sheme, I can't see to paint anything other then red or grey, and I quite like how it turned out.
have you looked for window colors? if you see my first cadian / praetorian try then you see the effect i think looks quite good to use as watereffects...:
if you look at the left guy then you see a bit of that wobbly effect the water color creates...i ruined the shiny bit as i added recently in a stupid moment a wash of devlan mud to the WC...but will redo it one day...
Window Colors? I have never come across something like that I think I'll just buy simple water effects colors, might me cheaper I'm very broke ATM. I have to save up money, because we're going to Berlin in three weeks on a school trip for 4 days. And then I need to buy myself a bycicle, I haven't had one in 4 years, but I still can ride a bike, like I proved a few weeks ago.
No worries! the Water Effects will arrive, once, maybe in a month, or three ...
to berlin??? funny thats my rathole^^...be sure to not get to much drunk here^^ i came to understand that many young tourists only visit berlin because the drinks are much cheaper here^^...
the window color you will find in a regualr toyshop or in an artsuply store...
here some ebay links for price ranges and comparrision to water effects...
You really live in Berlin? Ha, you might see a band of merry students with me walking in it it over there in three weeks!
Thanks for the tips! Hmm, somebody needs to remind me of not buying it from GW, just too expensive. It got me wondering, Would PVH glue do the trick? When it's dried, it makes for a watery surface... hmmm, let's try that out now!
A big group/platoon in that colour would look great.
The base really needs some work though...but you know that already. Would turning the base upside down look bad? Glue some reed effect grass in and then bung in some water effect mixed with muddy/pea green soupy paint. That way the model will be ankle deep in the muck.

Peter
Yep, a platoon of them will once sprout into existence.
I already done something very similar like you sugested. Only using PVH glue and an old brush
Pics will be up tomorrow.
(I should really stop using that many orkmoticons.)
save the effort... the thing with pva is, when you aply just a tiny amount too much on one minor place it stays white... had that idea too a coupla months ago...maybe clar nail color could do the trick...
now i have read the whole thread (well actually mostly scrolled, rescrolled and read^^ and scrolled again^^) and i have to say you are a very talented painter! no fussing around. like your red IGs and the choice of minis you used is cool, i envy your collection^^ those urban warfare minis will be considered for my team as well. i think you work with very thin paints and this gives the nicest touches! the pitbeast a coupa pages back wher the balst as the color of the skin is just plain awsome. also i take back what i said about your NMM saw that sarge with the headwound...cool and the NMM on that model is so convincing i kind of have to check and countercheck it with standard gw gold^^...
i think now seeing your blog from beginning to now your GS skills have grown considerably, one thing i would recommend is the use of gloves when doing GS...those cheap ones for sanitarian use...that way you keep your fingerprints to yourself and when you leave a mark with them you only create convincing foldings and all is good^^
also: your farinr (? spelt right? to lazy to read back yet again^^) look so cool!
i think you have a great range of characterful heads...mind telling where you got all of these cool heads? the metal ones?
seeing your work in this blog and how you now want to make a swamp/nam based terrain and fitting army...i expect awsomeness in a can, condesed and sweet^^
by the way...your necro work...again nice choice of minis and i like your different take on the whole theme, and kroots for munda is just plain cool^^
feel edgy to see more of yor stuff^^
and in the coming days i will digest your fiction^^

vik...who has said quite enough now^^
Thanks for the kind words.I have tried wearing gloves, but the greenstuf sticks to them. even when the gloves are wet .
You mean the Furith? Yeah, the heads are from call of Cthulu or something. But, is will take a while before the swamp guardsmen will take form, I'm low on cash atm
But, I already went ahead with the PVH glue It looks about right to me. I think I will leave it as it is now.
the base actually looks quite good now... only thing i would have added a bit more of catachan green or another darker green on some parts as the main green used there is a bit too bright. the pva worked great it also a bit covers the boots and gives a soaking feel to it...the grass/brush bristles lok very convincing! good work matey^^
call of cthullu...did you need to chop up minis for that or are there sources that sell the heads seperatly? if so please name your source^^
Thanks ^.^
I'll keep in mind of using darker greens for the next models.
They were just bitz pacs, and I got them from a gaming convention. Crisis 2010, just like gamesday, but with less awesomesauce. I bhought it off an english stand selling only call of Cthulu models and bitz. I dunno the source, but I think you should check out their site.
Ugh...I've been searching for those heads for the last 10 minutes, but I can't find them. I've already thrown away the boxes, but I'm pretty sure they are from COC
after the hint of the black cat bases the hunt was succesfully over!
cool that you´ve found the sliver^^
and i saw the shotgunner too...will get my both i guess...i like them also on the ebayshop i found some minis that would look good as psykers or preachers...
well i seem to have sparked some painting in you on your necro minis again^^
Automatically Appended Next Post: and be sure to search the whole shop of theirs, as they have a range of cultists that would go very well too for your gangs... the feral cultists you just have to look up! you wont regret it^^
And they are cheap aren't they? You don't have to pay much to have these characterfull models Now, I have to find a way how I can pay for these Gonna have to ask my parents for a way I think...
hmm, I have come across the same one myself...Might be cool for a gang, but not one for me. Might buy themn paint them just for the sake of having them, but I won't play a campaign with them. I think
Now this one... I must have jut for the sake of having
no but could fit the steampunk theme i am addicted currently to^^
and a plague doctor^^ yep that i have meant to say^^...would be quite cool to have in a gang...tho i saw better personifications of that theme... but for a scavvy gang i think it is like a twisted version of that same theme^^
Yeah, they do look fitting. Might grab some of those along the 'plague doctor ( ) Just two or three models, otherwise all the modeling fun is taken out.
I think I promised I'd post some pics up today..Well, let's say, not today.
here's a little update. That piece of terrain I mentioned earlier. Model for scale purpose only. With this piece of urban terrain done, I can start on some swamp terrain.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, where's my boltgun? This heretical place must be burned with.. with.. massed firepower!"
You just wait until Lucius takes hold of your body.
I'll beat him to death with his own nuts. Failing that, I'll kamikaze an air liner packed with C4 into him, his house, and his pet bunny. Even Lucius won't come back from that.

i think there might be a case after all to sue him for all his money... he must stand liable for the damage he caused... a lawsuit would make a slaughterfest with his behind... after that he wont even own his ceramite boots any more...^^
and that would be a good way to deal with weathering on scale your terrain... let the minis do all the work^^

Hang on, as a member of the cult I want my own Cruiser. And I will paint it in a rainbow colour to terrify our enemies into submission.
Err, on a serious note, your stuff looks goood man.
the delaque flamer/lasergunner (?) looks cool... i often achive a cool looking coloreffect that looks alot like cool cloth on a mini but ruin it when i go to the next step with another color... so mostly my models have rather dumb/ flat cloths...too bad for me, hope you´re a better painter^^
that crushed valk has really good looking shards of glass showing! nice blending for that. and an overall nicely done weathering on that piece.
the new guy shows you seem to have a hang for a certain guardsman hairstyle^^ and since i had a "amount of mini" -discussion with my wife i am eager to see YOU paint those masked heinis^^
Viktor von Domm wrote:

Valk? Isn't that an Aquila Lander? That's the one that came with Macragge right?
Anywayz, nice work on your new gaurdsmen, I just saw the clip of Apocalypse Now on youtube
@Baiyuan: Yep, going to try to get my old Necro buddies back in. It's been a while since I've done anything necromunda related, but... I just registered with Yakromunda to get me back in the game, maybe a bit more organised this time I will be checking your blog regularly.
I also registered at Yakromunda some months ago, but I haven't used it yet. It looks great, but considering the nonstandard ruleset my campaign uses, it would be to much work I think. Also I already have my self-made excel spreadsheet, that does all the work for me.
@Neil: yeah, I kinda like them too. They aren't that bad sculpts, like I read on a review site.
@Baiyuan: I doubt I will be using Yakromunda that much either! I'll only use it as an info source, me thinks.
Update. Small one, though.
A Delaque Ganger with lasgun, knife, and flak armor. For when I roll Flak armor, and am willing to pay for it. Still WIP, and much work to be done. C&C welcome.
It's in my collection of possible delaque head swaps too, I just didn't find a proper body for it yet, it's quite big.
I would have removed the aquila branding on his forehead btw, looks too much like a zealot for a delaque if you ask me.
Something else, I don't know if you mentioned it before, but is there a special reasoning to why your delaque look like they look? I know you said you wanted them to look more sinister than the basic models, is there more to it?
@Vik: They are really cool looking heads, shame I only have one though.
@Baiyuan: When fitted on a GW model, it isn't that big. It's smaller then the usual Catachan heads, like all Command kit heads. I thought the Aquila emblem would be a nice addition, but yeah, he does look like a zealot now you mention it. I'll consider filing it off.
There isn't really more to it. I wanted to make my own version of the Delaques, but still follow the lines how GW made them.
@Lil: I don't know how I will base them. My previous gangers were based with spare greenstuff and some junk bits. But it's a bit late for that, now that the model is already glued to the base. Maybe I'll just paint it grey(ish) or I might try to carefully remove the model from it's base, and wait until I have some leftover GS again.
Nice work on them, I am working on a "dead esqader" (spelled wrong Dark?) gang, based on the ash wastes bounty hunter gang. Without the idiot rule that they can only obtain heavy weapons by buying vehicles with it. Already finished two of them, paint and everything, will post them up sometimes
Darko, You best put 'grammer Nazi' back in your sig.
@Hendaron:Thanks. A Death Squad ey? souds interesting. Looking forward to seeing them! I have never even looked at the ash waste rules. I should download them off Yakromunda some time.
Yeah, the rules are good, adds lot of things and such. About the death squad, I finished the leader and specialist (heavy) with plasma gun. Will take pics and so later, just to lazy to do anything lately. Ghah, hard week...
Aargh Jarl! What do you mean with;" I don't know the camera is. Or it's reloading cable." .... sigh.... little brothers. YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE. Praise yourself lucky Scrazz.
I managed some more progress on the flak delaque, and the second Ousian.
I did some hazard stripes on the flak shoulder pads, that should give the armor some character, I think.
Let me know what you think of it.
I like the hazard stripes, and the camo of the Ousian came uot pretty good, it gives them a distinctive look, as even cadian "camo" doesn't really seems to have purpose as camo.
Anyways, I got the cam, but not the cable to put them on my pc -_- "What do you mean with my bag?" "I mean the one you forgot you freakin squidhead!" sigh....
Not sure about the stripes, they always add some industrial wasteland flavor, but I find them not that suitable for Delaque, I picture them more stealthy. Still looks good though...
@Hendaron:Thanks! Yeah, agree on you with the camo. I just don't like how Cadians look. Color wise, that is.
Brothers are a pain in the arse, even I know this, though I have no brother.
@Darko: thanks!
@Baiyuan: The stripes...meh,now you mention it. But on the other hand, how can a flak armored Delaque be steaty? The armor is far too cumbersone to slip through the hive. I picture this one more of a 'heavy trooper' kinda ganger.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Strangely enough, this song motivates me to paint. strange.
i am too not really sold on the stripes but for other reasons...there are some serious ripples in the lines...i suggest you go heavy on the weathering on those stripes as to cover up some of the uneven spots there are.,..as for fluff... i think the gang takes wahtever they can salvage and when good armor is done with hazardstripes they use them...
Viktor von Domm wrote:as for fluff... i think the gang takes wahtever they can salvage and when good armor is done with hazardstripes they use them...
I was thinking the exact same thing.
As for the hazard stripes, I am going to weather them, or else the shoulder pads will look to shiny apart from the body armor. I know there are ripples, but I had in mind what you suggested. Heavy weathering will take care of this, I suppose.
Thanks! But I haven't though of doing it with a sponge. May try that out tomorrow. I haven't got time today, because life tends to stumble in the path of the hobby.
do we talk beer or other higher volumes of drinks?
cause beer we get here too at the age of 16...but i think that doesnt cut it when talking about alc...
was joking ... get older and get yourself a bunch of kids...it really can be hard work but then there happens some of the best things in life to you no friends or girls can´t provide...really sometimes it is the best to be a father^^
and sometimes you are so glad everyone of the whole party is fast asleep...^^
french rap can be very good, they still have the kind of rhythm that the westcoast/eastcoast rap has lost long ago. plus it has much more meaning... wish my french was as good to understand it better...
You know, Stromae is actually a Belgian. Well, an immigrated one, but all the same. Alors on Dance was, IS still a great hit here. Alors on dance, by Stromae, that's the original.
Yeah, having your camera taken away is...a setback.
i had to do a major research for stromae as i only have a picture of him in my mind, lancky and nearly falling asleep but yet still lazyly singing his part^^ great vid of him. this guy will make hopefully a great carreer!
and you are one of the teenagers today that has now webcam of his own? ohoh...
I don't even have a laptop with a webcam. A webcam is expensive for my generation. Or just for me.
myeah, I didn't follow the Stromae vibe so... The slight interest in rap came from this one.
It's a dutch/english(jamaican accent) rap song. I saw these guys live. Eigen Makelij, a good group, you should check 'em out, If you get them. The jamaican one is actually dutch, but he mastered Jamaican accent quite good.
well to cut a long story short, for me there was and will be only one true kind of music...and that is rock^^ hard and honest, loud preferably mixed with deep emotions, preferably grim and about anger and maybe a bit depressive^^
haha, Yeah, I might need to make some more necromunda terrain. I certainly need to work in Height, as my terrain is relatively flat. Hazard stripes, I will paint some throughout my terrain pieces.

Same here, though I lean more into Punk Rock. Deep emotions? like hate, and the desire to kill, maim and burn? You should try The Misfits, if you haven't heard of the before.
atm i am more into linkin park and also cranberries...if anybody still hears them^^ also you cant get far wrong with some classics like AC/DC and the young Springsteen...(but only the young....)
as i said springsteen became a whiner in his older days... as for canberries they have a bunch of moody songs.... look for ode to my family...one of my favorites! the whole album then was a big thing!
as for that, try the Ärzte...a song named "schrei nach liebe"... has a certain swear word in it...my kids love that song...^^ thy can all now sing a special line of that song where that word is repeated about three times in a row^^
imagine a sweet todler of three years singing the last bit of that song with all his heart in it...do you understand a bit german?
poor guy^^
german is such a harsh and uneasy language... and it makes any other language look easy in comparrision...also it stiffens the tongue and makes it later hard for such flowing languages like italian and french to speak easy...
I am lucky I'm not getting into Italian, though French is another subject at school. Arschloch ey? Well, good for dakka for not having German words swapped out. Nice word for little children to yell about. I've known 6 year olds yelling 'CASTRATION!' all day long.
I'm actually listening for the third time now. I like it.
lol... i have such a wide grin on my face now as i picture how a sixyearold would scream that the whole day^^ ahhh when the small kids feel the might of the words^^
and the Ärzte do grow on you^^
well i am off for now... somepics `morrow would be splendid^^
So, no more work on the Ousian and Flak Delaque, because I got distracted by this model which had been lying around my tabel for a month or two. Still WIP though.
well it certainly IS sunday in europe^^... *please hold the line...*
lol...first waiting too long from my part and then my post got overrun by your picupdate^^
cool looking mini. like the bigger pouches on him, makes him look as if he actually wants to survive in a hostile enviroment and not only wants to make a last stand^^ the stance is cool, and where did you got the shotgun from? as for that matter, what other parts did you use? cant seem to recognize the bits...
It brought me money. Money which I will need to save for Berlin.
Well, I got millions of other projects that need to be done, so I will just take care of those models.

Only saw this now. I didn't convert him, I brought him. He is another model from Black Cat Bases I picked up a year ago.
But Thanks for the kind words.I also like the model, I wonder why I didn't bother to finish him earlier.
oh i regularly have to clean up my place as i switch through projects from time to time...if so then before starting i have to make a real cleanup to start fresh faced^^
there were times i had to collect bottles in my flat to get me something to eat...that is broke to the bone^^ but since i have family those times will hopefully never happen again!
Heh, I can relate to that Scrazz. Orky bits have overun the already overloaded desk. A couple of times recently I've had to search for the part I've just put down whilst I put glue on the other part
as it should^^ as your not born as a fully grown up^^ so parents job is to be there for you^^ even if you cant keep your money together and they have to help you out...after all if you cant make ends meet then it is a wrong teaching in economics and in your age it is still the parents fault for not educating you better^^...it is a "get out of jail" card ...best thing in life there is^^ later on you wish you still had it^^
and at monkey... sometimes my desk is like the sockseating washingmachine^^ i also had these frantic moments of searching for my knife or file...only to see them lying neatly where i least expected them to be... oh the horrors of a wandering mind...^^
Wondering/wandering... pfft all of them Though a wandering more often then a wondering. Luckily, I can still concentrate on hobby work...... Wait, what Am I doing on dakka then?
ghosty wrote:Dakka needs no Grammar mod, people wouldn't listen to them.
I'm not so sure ghosty, I think SRM and myself are rather influencial personalities in the forum nowadays; and quite a few people are used to our grammar rants.
'sides, it was just a small joke . What's more, where've you been hiding dude? Haven't talked to you on here for ages!
Just checking my subscribed threads. Scrazz's hobby blog. First unread. Page 16/19. wth? Oh, pages full of jibberish...
Btw. Sexion D'Assaut is great, the album is full of good music.
Did someone seriously call Stromae hiphop? I like the song, it's catchy, but hiphop? NO way!
It's rap/Dance, ain't it? Stromae that is Don't know a lot of Sexion D'Assault. In fact, I only know one.
Yes, the off topic jiberesh should stop. I think I should go downstairs and paint some more minis to show you guys. That might get this one back on track.

Used to your rants? Surely that doesn't mean they take in everything you type, and vow never to make the same mistake again. Realistically, a grammar rant may be something glossed over due to it being essentially as off topic as they come.
well that took a damn long time, but yeah. And I'm telling you, Tomorrow I'm off to Berlin, and I won't be back 'till friday
Some WIP shots:
The Flak Delaque is finished
The shotgun bloke has a belt painted. Yes, only a belt.
I started work on a new Delaque, who I will use when I roll Gunfighter
I made a custom lasgun out of a Shuriken pistol
Oooooh...me likes the las-out-of-shuriken gun. It has a scabby look, like it was an older variant that's no longer in use by the ig. Anyways, my brother found the cable back, ill be posting up som later tonight, it's just not easy to take pictures with one arm in the plaster :(
the eldar lasgun makes me look for bitz sellers and make this for my army! that sure is a looker! the weathering on the delaque shoulders looks convicing! have a blast^^
Great blog! I keep looking at the trenchcoats on your models ^^ do you sculpt them? I'm going to have to use them as reference for some folds especially on the back of mine.
love the conversion work you are doing, camo cloaks look good and your stormtroopers are rockin'!
@ Hendaron: Thanks! The gun idea was born out of boredom. Maybe if I find some more old shuriken pistols I might make some more. Good luck with your arm!
@ Vik:Thanks! The gun conversion isn't hard to pull off at all, have a go!
@NerdForest: Thanks! Yes, I do sculpt the trenchcoats. All of them, except the one on the Flak Delaque, it's from a trench coat model.
Well, here is some more. I finished the random shotgun ganger.
Not bad, only downside is the head, that looks quite big, especially on the first pic. The painting isn't bad too, maybe some more highlighting, looks a wee bit flat. (Edit: I'm still talking about the face mainly.) Keep up the good work!
love the weathering opn your delaques shoulder pads . Your medic guy is an unusual model. He looks like those old rogue trader pirates. very dynamic pose too. he looks like he would sit well within the underhive. nice addition
Bhahaha, that face reminds me of the midget in "De Ronde" XD, anywayz, nice work on this one too, surpasses my skills anyway. I should make work of it to post my gang "death squad" on dakka
Did some more work on the second Ousian, And I greenstuffed the gunfighters greatcoat. I'm not too happy about his coat, but it'll have to do. C&C welcome.
i too think the cloak is a bit too thick...if you don´t want to change the thickness, you could declare that he is wearing a winter coat...and add a bit of a warm collar^^
the ousian needs a bit of color on the flaming shoulderpad in my opinion^^...and if asked i would point out that the shar lines in his face could do well with a tine bit of downtoneing...
Yeah, I know, I over-did the coat on the ganger. I'll file it down one day. As for the Ousian, Vik... You mean the white icon on his shoulder? More color? I dunno, I might dirty it up, from being in the swamp for so long. But I think the base color for the icon should remain white. Has anybody got more opinions on this?
ok white i am fien now with... all decisions need a reason... if the icon has to fit into the scheme, then this is a good reason^^ though i would never say "no" to a bt of weathering^^
@ Vik: Yeah, I did some weathering a few minutes ago. I dirtied it up. I mixed thrakka green and devlan mud. ( a 1/3 mix) and it looks like it better fits in now.
@Lil: Thanks! But in all my anticipation I forgot to use your tip. I wanted to get done with the greenstuffing right away, and I kinda just 'jumped in'. I'll remember to use the tip next time I use GS, I promise.
cool mini, the base looks like he had a very strong cold^^
the weathering looks very good, i think you will make a great army this way...will you be adding some scouts made from catachans for them... they could contribute with their look quite a lot of the feeling of the swamp army...
Thanks Vik! I might just include some converted catachans, but I'm not sure of that yet. Maybe mix some cadian and catachan bits, and I could get that sweaty, tired and ragged vietnam look of the more veteran guardsmen mixed in with the newly conscripted ones with their shiny armor. But, like I said not sure of that.
sounds like a delicious plan to me... if you continue to keep that style and spent look to your army then i think the mix (no pureism for IGs anyway^^) will be great looking...
I do hope I can pull it off. I mean, making the mix of cadians and catachan parts work for me. I think it would include medium greenstuff work. Anyway, I just scavenged an unpainted sergeant, added some swamp basing and some extra equipment. I am considering adding more rural things to him, but I want to keep things simple. Less is more, like they say.
also from my time in service i can tell you that a true veteran that has seen action only relies on his gun and carries what amo he sees fit with him...if you want to make the army look as if they are in midfighting then i strongly suggest and support your idea of keeping the minis simple...i think the vietnam fighters were the unkitted soldiers one could hink of... lazy looking yet deadly and effective, and for the most part peeps that didn´t want to be there... that is somehwat already shown in your work^^
as for what to add when GS the mixed bits... torn/ragged sleeves would be my first guess...
The ragged clothing was what I was going for. Greenstuff should be easy enough to sculpt torn sleeves with. And I certainly won't stress myself. Exams are coming up, so I rather should.
Also, I agree with you guys, have a few guys in their shiny armour, ready to battle it out in the name of the Emperor, then the rest be sick and tired of this backwater, and just wanting to leave, not giving a frak about what the uncaring Emperor thinks.
@ doop dude, well the weathered look would be more of a thing to make out veteran guardsmen from the grunts. The Ousians should be accustomed to backwater marshes/swamps, because their homeworld is one big swamp. The only thing they'll be missing are they're own swamps.
@ Chibi: Those bases do look cool. I might just have to convince my parents into letting me buy something off the internet. I'm normally not allowed to do such things. :*(
but otherwise, the rim is a rather nice idea, to rim the area in wich I need to pour PVA glue in. Thanks for giving me an awesome idea!
i have seen some guy in the net that used the nonslotta bases turned upside down to make them get filled with watereffects... maybe you could try this idea with your ousians too...to make ankledeep stuck in water/swamp Soldiers....
You can make these yourself, without convincing your parents, quite easily actually:
Take a normal base, from GW for example, slotta or not doesn't matter.
Cut out/off the top of it, so that you have a plastic ring.
Glue it onto a piece of plastic card.
Cut it out and clean all the edges.
Fill it.
The result are cheap, quick, standard size and shape bases, ready to be filled with the ooze of your choice.
Baiyuan's technique is great! It's a little fiddly, but the results are pretty good, though it may take a few layers as a lot of water effect products shrink.
Not going to post my own models in your thread, but here and here are a couple of models I did with that technique. Should work really well for what you have in mind!
I do like the look of the bases you're rocking at the moment though - very 'toxic swamp'
Sorry for the late reply guys, Life has gotten in the way. (albeit a fun way )
Thanks for sharing that with me Baiyuan, after looking at Scarper's two shown models I will have to try that out next time. The Ousian I will show in today's update will have no such thing, because I already assembled him in the way he is now.
After this update, I am focussing on a new concept for a new Necromunda gang I have in mind. No hints yet, but it will include a lot of Greenstuff and other conversions. So stay tuned.
oh yeah, before I go to the updates, I just have to tell you I just started off with my youtube channel, first time I really use my account, but here it is. Hope you enjoy the music I uploaded.
Hey scazza , like your fat guy model , where is he from? and those samurai sci fi guys are great looking bunch, i guess the guardsman is part of your swamp guys . The new project sounds ambitious matey , will keep an eye out for its progression . And whats this nonesense about fun without miniatures
neil101 wrote: And whats this nonesense about fun without miniatures
It involves a girlfriend.
But thanks neil! I don't know what company the fat guy is from, I found him in my bitz box. It sure is fun to have a big box full of bitz And yes, the guard model will be part of the Ousian Riverine. I hope to have the basic greenstuff 'chassis' done for the first model tonight.
the big guy with the bald head looks a bit like dr. evil
that samurai looks interesting...is it a hint for your new gang?
cheers mate... now with a girlfriend you will get introduced to all the troubles a single life has yet spared you ^^ enjoy and be carful where you tread, what you say and where you look^^ form now on...if you doesnßt then you will know what i´ve meant^^
oh and to the sarge you did, did you have to cut off a lot of his neck to get the head fit good on the body?
Yes, it also reminded me of Dr Evil. Now, if only I had a Mini Me
But, unfortunately, the samurai isn't a hint for a new gang. The greenstuffing is done. It's not top notch material, considering my bad Greenstuff skills.
The idea behind this model, is that it is a juve for my newest gang idea. The gang is a rabble of insane psychos living in an abandoned asylum. This is just a simple juve, but for other gangers, think Splicers from the Bioshock games. This juve wanted to look mean, and put a childish mask (read bag) over his head in an attempt to scare his enemies.
don´t get mad at me i loled as i saw your juve^^ he is a joly fella for now^^ the splicers i looked up made my skin crawl on my back^^
you said a red bag? well how about a sandy or white sheated bag with blood crusts on eyes and mouth and the rim of the bag rather than a fully red bag? this could then be the gang colors...
Yeah, that was the reaction I was going for. This juve failed horribly to impress.
But I didn't say red bag i said (read: bag)
For the gang colors I was going for an already established scheme. Like that one with the blue pants, the shotgun and the too big head, if you can remember him. The gang will be made up from insane, weird, psycho looking men.
You should try to smoothen your GS, texture isn't necessarily bad, but fingerprints are a turn off.
I'm curious for what you'll come up with for this project.
