Well Wednesday Oct 5th at HS is their 40k gaming night so we wouldn't be fighting for the tables or making to much noise for the MTG players . I can be there around 4:30pm as well if you want to get a game in, any point lvl you specifically looking at?

Guis wrote:Not sure if anyone in this thread would be interested as it's closer to Mississauga but I figured I might as well post here. X-planet games(http://xplanet.ca/) is running an 8 week campaign followed by a tournament. The details are on their facebook page if you're interested. 1250 for the first 4 weeks, then 1750, no painting required and you can change your list/army every week. The campaign starts this Thursday so register before that if you're interested.

Thanks for posting. While I don't live in Mississauga I do come here once in a while and it's close by where I frequent. I really like the prices so I will defenintly check this store out since I was at the Square One GW. If I knew about this a few weeks ago, I might have been able to save some money. Hopefully he sells some finecasts since some minis I want are Finecast.

Hey guys, I'm also out of scarborough and about 25 min from Heavy Support Games as long as the DVP/Gardner aren't closed. I only read the first and last pages of this thread, but I take it a bunch of people have successfully grouped up for some gaming. Sadly no one else showed up for the 40k singles tourrney at HSG on the 8th, but I guess I should have figured with it being Thanksgiving weeked. Also, sadly again, the guys I've been trying to hook up with through a friend haven't been able to set up any regular gaming. :(

So what's the general scene like? Is it mainly at HSG or another store like that or at the GW store just north of Yonge/Lawrence? I'm working up north this winter during the week, but I'm back on the weekends and very interested in getting my game on. Do people set up little tourneys or is it mainly just "pick-up"? Is there a good spread of the armies out there so I use my "all comers" ?

I think I should be free for some games on the 29th if there's anything going on. I'll have to comfirm with the wife but it should be that Sat.

Welcome kungfujew

We mostly game on weekends at Heavy Support. We've tried other places but we find HS meets our needs. When I had a car I was planning major events once or twice a month. But TTC is an 1.5 hour trip for me. So mostly we have been doing pick up games.

If your looking for a pick up game Just post here and you'll find a good player.

Rythem, Built-in and Guis are very good players and are usually at HS on the weekends. (if you beat Guis Orks, Please tell me how you did it)

More Dakka is also a good player but we have to wait for golf season to end before we'll see him again.

If my plans get canceled on the 29th, I'll let you know

Sadly I've been working in Muskoka for the last 3 weeks so I'm behind on both my glueing and painting. I only really have the 1500 points ready to roll with WYSIWYG. If you don't mind a few proxies then we can do more or a few at different point levels.

I'll probably be free by 1:00 so I can meet at 2:00. I'm about to drive back into TO, so I'll post a definate time after I confirm with the wife in a few hours. I might be free to go down there a little earlier or later.

Did you have a preference at a specific point level or time?

Post by: Rythem

i can do either 1000 pts with my nids (unpainted) or up to 2500 pts with my flesh tearers. I don't mind proxies as long as i know what they are , and painting never matters to me. I'd rather game around 1-2 than later on because i need to get back home to the gf for the night (7ish). But i'm easy going either way .

Sadly, my wife has just informed me that she has to work tomorrow as well as Sunday. As a musician she's prone to be... steriotipically forgetful. I'll see if I can get a babysitter for Sunday, in case that works for you. :/ Sorry about that.

I'll also try to confirm a babysitter for next weekend as well. It seems that wives aren't the biggest threat to a man's hobbies, but rather small children who need constant supervision.

Today at heavy support, (Guis-Eldar, Kungfujew-Guard vs. Rythem-Fleshtearers, Buit-in-Dark Eldar)
The Flesh Tearers descended upon a small group of Imperial Guard that were conducting unsanctioned trade and work arrangements with craftworld Eldar.

unbeknownst to all human parties, Dark Eldar Raiders were on the hunt for the craftworld cousins. The Eldar quickly fell behind the flying lead shield that is Imperial, and together they fought off the slavers.

The Flesh Tearers, Seizing this opportunity to enforce the Emperor's will, bore down on the treacherous Guardsmen looking to finish the fight quickly. As blast and beams of every color and non-color, poison, light, fire, and acid rained down around them the red and gold angels darted quickly in to the middle, booming power weapon sent bodies rent asunder in every direction.

But the individual efforts of the two invading forces were no match for the co-ordinated defense of enemies without prejudice, un-easy allies of the Guard and the Eldar

The dark Eldar fell, And the Blood Angels fought to the last man.

I've re-assigned the artillery officers to the forward attack squads as diciplinary measures. It'll do them good to see what happens to a guard attack force when the first 3 turns of artillery shelling results in 4 casualties. The company commander will also be getting a "power batton", so the next time he spends 2 and a half turns locked in combat with the blood angels death mask captain, he will crush him like some sort of very large bug.

If I can get replacements for the fallen (and a babysitter), I'll be there as well.

I love my Army Builder, but I just found another one called Battle Scribe. They also have an app for your phone.
http://www.battlescribe.net/

The problem is that Battle Scribe is not allowed to offer the product and the Data files

So another Company and site has the Data files called Warmonger GameDay they are allowed to have the files but not the program
https://sites.google.com/site/warmongergameday/

Follow the instructions and you have a free Army building software on your PC or on your phone.

I personally like ArmyBuilder, Its way better, easier to use, but on the other hand Battle Scribe is free.

Legends opened a few months ago and is in the process of coordinating organized play.
The mostly casual players we have, have expressed interest in tornament/league play
We have enough room to have up to 15 game tables if necessary if we do larger tournaments.
Generally we have an older game crowd for both 40k and Warhammer fantasy.
As you can see from the photos in the link, we have a fairly large facility.
Best thing to do is come up and check it out.
If you want to reserve tables that wouldn't be a problem.
Hope to see you there.

soo guess noone else was able to make it to legends today, bit of a trip for nothing but o well; i checked out the store, had a look around.

Pretty big store, the 40k tables were in the back set up on warehouse shelves which seems like a good idea though it might be tough getting some of the angles in when your playing. Lots of parking spaces though a lot of them are taken by the kids swimming place next door. pretty easy to get to though it's tucked into the back of the complex so seeing where you need to turn is rough at first.

Really Sorry Rythem,

Something came up for me that morning and I didn't have access to a computer. I ended up calling the numbers I have

would you go there often? Or is HS still the place to be?

do they have adiscount on GW products?

Toronto WH40K @ 2011/11/21 18:41:14

Post by: Built-in

There discount is 20% of GW. HSG is 25% when paying cash. I was there Last week but I hadn't seen the tables. I would go to Check it out, but I told hazal I would game with him at HSG on Sunday.

Also, I am down to game Wednesdays and Thursdays if anyone is interested. At HSG of course.

Yeah, sorry for bailing, I am an ass.

I forgot it was the Santa Clause Parade. I live just south of Bloor right where the Parade starts so I was basically without a car.

Post by: Rythem

lol it's all good, would of been nice to get some games in but i was thinking about checking out the store either way so the trip wasn't a complete waste, built-in is correct about the prices, basically the same except for that 5% difference if you have cash on ya. It's nice that their hours are longer on sundays and that they have completely dedicated tables just for warhammer at legends, though i didn't notice if they had alot of terrain to choose from like HSG does.

Built-in: I'm free this week for games on either day or if your feeling crazy both days lol just let me know

Ok cool Rythem. you know me and my 1500 pointness. Lets say wednesday?

Sadly, my parents, who were going to babysit for me, just bowed out to go out of town for the weekend. :( I'll have to see if I can get the wife/in-laws/sister-in-law to babysit instead. I'll know for sure if and what day on friday, but I really want to try out my new 2000 point changes. I'm so excited at the prospect I'm going to paint instead of sleep.

I hope everyone's holidays were great and filled with food, family, boooze and merriment. I finaly got my brother down to HSG, he watched us play a game and started his own nids, so it was a very productive holiday season.

Is anyone planning on going to the tourney at HSG on the 14th or the 1000 point tourney at GW yonge/lawrence on the 28th?

nice! always good to see new bloods get into the game.

I wish I could go to the tournies, but unfortunately I dont have the time on the weekends to participate in tournaments.

On another topic, I have a question for you all:

would you care facing off against an army made from scratch (plasticard, greenstuff, etc) to fit a certain theme? For example, I am currently working on plans to use Tau, when they get updated, as a human allied world to the Tau that have reverse engineered their technology into a steampunk esque style. for Example, taking a Tau Broadside, and replicating its 'sillouette' but making it look completely different from the original.

The tourney is at the GW on yonge, just north of lawrence. What I was told was that it was $10, 1000 point and on the 28th (I think). There are 14 spots, reserved ahead of time at the store and it's the first in a series of escalating point value tournies over the next 4 months. He said that all the details are on their facebook page and to tell anyone who was inerested to check there or in the store.

I'll probably stop in there somtimg this weekend to sign up, if my schedule is clear and the wife takes the chain of my leg.

Hello and welcome to the hobby, always good to see new players in the area, i enjoy playing at HSG as well. I wouldn't worry to much about playing your army at HSG, the player base there is pretty relaxed, knowledgeable, and patient about new players and the game in general. If you want to get in some beginner games let me know and i'll be more than willing to get in some games with you. Best way to set up a game is post the day and time you want to meet (preferably a couple days to a week before) and say how many points your going to bring and see if anyone is interested or free. We also tend to meet sunday afternoons at 12 because that is HSG free gaming time.

Not sure who will be there sunday. We are planning to meet tomorrow for the tourney i believe. I can't go both days, but if you decide to come tomorrow and the touney is not in full swing, make sure to have your army. I am always down for small beginner games. Playing is the best way to learn.

If you wanted to come down and check out a few games on your way to work, someone should be there. @Jasonobi, You'll be surprised at how little you learn from a win. Not only do you learn more from losing, you also tend to learn more from really bad loses, especially if you play it out and try new things on the way down.

Not completely true, for store tournaments sure but in general I havent seen painted models or 100% WYSIWYG at both the Yonge or Langstaff GW.

I know, but my comment was regarding an upcomming tourney at a GW store. I played against him at the HSG tourney and wanted to make sure he didn't bring an unpainted army and be told that he was only going to be a spectator.

Did anyone else sign up at the GW yonge/lawrence for the 28th?

It's true LOL, you'd think that they'd be a bit beefier carrying and pushing all that pewter around on the table, but nope!

Not to get on a rant here, but why don't I ever see a fully painted Warma/Hordes army on the table?

Like, I know I'm mr gray plastic, but I have 80 models in my IG army, their armies are like 12 models!

Anyways, whichever day is cool with me, just give me some heads up so I can bring my guys to work and inform the GF (got in some hot water last night )

Yeah that's where Optimus and I played.

It was decent, much better layout than the old Two Headed Dragon.

Space still limited, they have probably 3 usable tables in total, but they're covered in Magic Cards, guys playing Magic Cards, and Warmachines players.

There is also a basement that people were going in and out of, not sure what's down there (might be something I don't want to know)

Anyways, they have dedicated 40K nights, so we just have to make more of a presence there and I'm sure we'll get tables set up better.

I live in Vaughan, if that counts as "North" of the city. Just north of Steeles.

Basement stuff in the Friendly Troll eh? Sounds like Mark of Slaanesh trolls live down there.

But I'm glad to hear Dakka still managed to destroy thing without me.

I wouldn't say it was "basically downtown Toronto". It's in Etobicoke. I forget where exactly, Queensway and Islington I think but I could be wrong, but definently not Downtown.

lol well considering the gta stretches all the way through mississauga and brampton to the west, i consider the city of Toronto itself as downtown.

If anyone is interested in playing, let me know. I started the hobby in 1999, but after only paying 3 times, I moved to Toronto and put my toys away. Now I crave a return to the Warhammer 40K arena and have a 1500 point Dark Eldar Army ready to go. I am 36 years of age and would like to find adults to play with. I love Warhammer 40K and many other games (I have a good collection of independent board games, war games, wings of war, etc). I live in Woodbridge, Ontario. I am willing to play at my home (large, so we have space) or somewhere else... Legends Warehouse is not far and is public (Langstaff and Weston). Let me know if interested and we can exchange contact info or just set something up on the forum (sorry, this is my first time ever participating in a forum).

Welcome, Ive been wanting to try that place i just never got around to doing it. I been thinking of setting up a game for next Sunday, Feb. 12th

A friend of mine wants to come out. he wants a large game of 2000pts or more if anyone is interested.

I myself prefer 1500pts and 1750pts but I'll bring 3 lists just incase.

Im up for any venue, It mostly depends on how many players are going where.

I live really close to Woodbridge and I go to the Langstaff GW all the time. I would be glad to give you a game and if you want I can even give you some tips on how to use your DE, though I do'n't actually have an army, I know they're really fast and annoying . The manager at GW is a really cool dude as well, you should definitely meet him. Just be advised wee ones are often running around the place on weekends and on the odd occasion weekdays, so act appropriately .

I will be there tomorrow with my Super Crons.

Welcome to the Toronto area gaming group as well as back to the hobby. I play mostly at HSG but Legends is pretty much the same distance for me.

If you guys are setting up something for the 12th let me know where and when and I'll try and make it down.

Okay, so I am definitely game for setting something up on February 12, 2012. Just let me know the details.

CGB Spender, Rythem, Styrofoam04: Anyone interested in a game today (Friday February 3, 2012)?? We could meet at Legends Warehouse (usually it's pretty quiet there). I finish work at 1 p.m. and could be there for 2 p.m with a 1500 point army. What do you say?

If we are going to set something up for February 12, 2012 at Legends (for example), I will call them and confirm that tables will be available in advance, so we don't show up and find a Magic tournament or something. Let me know. Oh my gosh, I really want to play.... who wants to wipe out my Dark Eldars?? As long as I get to have a few Dark Lance shots and a Bladevane attack, I will be satisfied.

Its friday which usually means Magic, but they have an entirely seperate area for that so you should be fine.

On a side note if any of your guys are interested this saturday Feb 4th is a 1850 Elimination tournament at the Yonge and lawerence GW, its a $20 buy in, and the winner walks off with the entire pot. Forgeworld is allowed (no flyers, superheavies, or gargantuan creatures) and if its anything like the langstaff tournament its anyones game.
