At 2000 points, you get a full second FOC. Typically even at 2000ish points it's proper to confirm with your opponent if you're using one or two charts. Over 3000, I believe the question is are you doing double FOC or ignoring it and taking whatever you want.

Ahh that is too bad, I will have to get back to you about next sunday.
I can check in at HSG this week, see if they have anymore used eldar models they are looking to offload.
So my sunday is all kinds of free now if anyone is looking for some games, let me know? Though this could be very short notice for most players on this forum..

Hey everyone
Anyone interested in a few casual game this week? I'll be free in the afternoon during the weekdays and weekend. I should be able to do a few or a couple games. Tell me if any of you guys are interested.
I just got my hands on the Chaos Space Marine side of Dark Vengeance set and finally finished assembling my 2nd Daemon Prince. Both have been primed over the weekend. I would like to try them out on the table.

Depending on if Rythem is able to play a big game on Sunday, my Sunday might be open. Although our 5000+ point games always take precedence.
I might be available Tuesday in the afternoon/evening and I'll be in the area of legends, although I won't know for sure until tomorrow.

5000 points sounds pretty insane. A game like that would take 6+ hours huh? O.o
Unfortunately as of now, farthest north I can travel would be the Friendly Troll or GWs store at Yonge/Lawrence. Legends is a bit too far out of my reach due to my current method of transportation (subway/TTC).

I can confirm now that I am available on sunday for our game, not sure if I can hit that 6000 points you are looking for at this time, i've picked up a couple more models, and I will probably check back at HSG tomorrow too see if they have got anything new this week.

Hi all. I would also like to get in a wargaming group outside of my usual every other week visit to the Langstaff GW. Langstaff is about 45min drive from me, which i dont mind but I would like something closer.
Here's a little bout me to see if I fit into any of the near by gaming groups:
Location: Stouffville
40k Armies: SM (Iron Hands), Tau, [gonna start orc whenever the new dex shows its green little head]
Fantasy: Lizardmen, [probably gonna have 3 armies here as well]/
I am more of a fluff kinda player, and one not too concerned about the whole "super killy" list. Just wanna throw some dice, laugh, maybe some drinks in between (after all no drinking and driving). I do also own a little bit of terrrain which I always bring to the Langstaff GW and share around so adding more to the board is always fine for me. I do like a "messy" board more or less.
Please feel free to message me or email me. Of course I am always happy to go to a person's house, providing I get to know them.

Rythem, that was an epic game. I've never played a bigger, closer game that ended in such a slaughter.

Lol, except that the wraithknight isn't a super heavy walker, doesn't have D weapons, and is part of my codex.

Yeah it was a ton of fun, and good to know we can basically play a 6000 pt game in 6 hours give or take an hour of set up and chatting. Problem with the next couple weekends is that the 11th is mothers day, and the 18th is victoria day weekend which i spend at my cottage, so I won't be available on sundays till the 25th of may at the earliest.

Even Optimus says so Arguing tit for tat when you bring a wraithknight is just funny to me... yes, my Imperial Knights have D strength weapons (only for close combat)... so plan to have a mobile army and run! The truth is, I am only playing the game as per the rules and allocations of the game. I have not gone to Forgeworld or Apocolypse, but have taken units from a Warhammer 40 K Codex. There is always something to complain about in this game... I play Dark Eldar and I hate every weapon that is strength 3 or higher and has AP value of 5 or better! With my stupid vehicles, every army brings weapons that are just as damaging to me as D strength... for the most part... but I just keep playing... I don't even ask my opponent in advance for details about what list they might be bringing! he he... Should be fun today. See ya at 3 p.m.
Optimus: we should get together soon - it's been a while. I can play after 6 p.m. most nights.
36447
Post by: Rythem
Lol, i don't remember complaining about the imperial knight, you made a comparison between the imperial knight and the wraith knight and I stated what I believed to be the main differences between them, excluding point cost since I don't really know what they cost in the new codex. Plus as DE, killing a wraithknight is as easy as killing 6 space marines for you.

Rythem: good game today. I couldn't bust your vehicles, especially after losing 6 dark lances to your first round of shots :(. Any advice as to how I could better run a DE list with the 2 walkers?
36447
Post by: Rythem
Yeah good game, well first off I had some very lucky rolls, firing 6 shots and getting 4-5 pens isn't anywhere close to average. As for the walkers themselves, they did alright, lasted till turn 4 before they went down, and they would of lasted a lot longer if my anti tank wasn't still going strong. It can be very difficult to keep DE vehicles going against a mech eldar army. We field very survivable vehicles that throw around a lot of medium strength shooting that is usually the bane of armour 10/11. The mission also didn't help, being kill points means I never need to leave my vehicles so your venoms are just jumping around trying to get small wyche units into assault range. As for making changes, I would try your list out a couple times before making changes unless you know of some major deficiency.

Hey! I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but I'm wondering if any fellow GTA players would be interested in a bit of Unofficial Kill Team. I have a pretty good group of friends to play with but I wanted to start expanding and possibly starting a tournament or league in the GTA (preferably Toronto). This version of Kill Team designed by Heralds of Ruin is... well how do I describe it. It's pretty fair and balanced, loads of fun and the campaign is beyond awesome. If anyone wants to have a go you can find it here http://heralds-of-ruin.blogspot.co.uk/p/kill-team-rules.html And if anyone finds that it works for them and wants to start up a group then let me know! Ok, 1000 points tomorrow at Meeplemart confirmed, at say 12 pm? I can come earlier or later.

Welcome cmdrrico. I'm not sure where you are located, but there are a few spots that are popular on this forum. I have only played at Legends, which is in Woodbridge. There is a group of us that play there regularly. Hope to play you soon

Yes it does interest me. See you tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at Legends... 2000 points? Remind me please, at 2000 points, if I use allies, can I double the FOC for the primary detachment and the ally? Please advise. I may try something new
73880
Post by: MaxZ
Also, it remains fairly standardized as the editions change. No unbound I think. It's pretty cool. Plus, if you collect the right army , you could use 3 different codexes and still fit it thematically.
36447
Post by: Rythem
Confirmed for 2:30pm, we could go 2.5k if you want to use 2 foc and 2 allies detachments as well, up to you and what you are looking to field. As for your question, yes at 2k points you get access to a second FOC and you are allowed 1 ally detachment per FOC.
52056
Post by: optimusprime14
But remember it has to be the same ally for both FOC's, you can't take double FOC DE with Eldar for one and something else for the other
54380
Post by: Dark eldar elite
Rythem: what do you prefer? 2000 or 2500? So, I'm still a bit confused about the FOC thing...Optimus confused me...so, if I play DE allied with Space Wolves, I can have 2 full FOC of DE and 1 ally FOC for the wolves?
36447
Post by: Rythem
I'm good with either, just figured if you were looking to bring 2 primary FOC, and 2 ally FOC you might need more points. What ever works for your list works for me.
Ya his post read as contradictory of itself unless i'm just not reading it right, i'm pretty sure your allies have to be from the same codex, so at 2k points you can take 2 DE FOC's and 2 Ally FOC's but both ally FOC must be from the same codex. So in your case with DE and space wolves, you would have 2 DE primary FOC's and 2 SW ally FOC's.

I can probably do 6k with only very minor proxies, any more than that and i fear we won't be able to finish in the 6 hours we usually get on a sunday.
If we ever plan a sat/sun game i could probably combine my BA and eldar to around 15-16k though I have no idea how I'd be able to effectively play that many models. At least I have a pretty good idea on how to kill those knights after playing against DEE's 3 imp knights for the past couple weeks.

Some of you may have noticed that Meeplemart has not received (or ordered) any new releases or restocks since Games Workshop launched their new website. This is due to their new retailer terms which were simultaneously introduced; capping what items and the amount of product Meeplemart is allowed to order. (This is not a MINIMUM requirement issue, this is a MAXIMUM allowed issue.)
In protest to these new limitations Meeplemart has NOT ordered in ANY WH40K 7th edition rule books, nor will we allow any legitimate 7th Edition rule books into the game space, for this (release) weekend. If GW sees no reason to support 3rd party retail, than likewise we see no reason to support their game system.
In addition, we are also VERY seriously considering completely cutting ties with the company and banning all GW gaming and products from Meeplemart.
I am finding it incredibly difficult to continue giving money to a company whose business practices I do not support.

I'm going to have to agree with their stance. Honestly GWs PR has been a train wreck. My local old hobby store "Crossed Swords" which had been in the community for well over 30 years (probably more than that) closed up last year with the announcement of their trade policy since from what I understand the store was barely breaking even. Also, Miniwargaming store site (a place I also frequent and purchased a large chunk of my death guard army) closed down in response to GWs online retail policy that same year. Whatever GW is trying to do is not gonna help them in the long run with their sales.
I'm also really upset with the announcement of 7th edition since I just got into 6th edition about 2 months in.... The EXACT SAME @%$#ing thing happened to me when I got into 5th edition 2 years ago but instead it was only 1 month... I bought both hardcovers editions of the rulebook and the small rule size editions... that's about $200.
I MEAN COME ON!!! I"M REALLY trying hard not to just skip 7th edition and wait till 8th edition comes out. I thought I had at least another year to enjoy 6th edition, since I assumed everything edition would at least 3-4 years. I understand they released a lot within these 2 years but I still think its way to early.
Anyways, that was just my rant... I will still be playing 6th edition for now if anyone is up for it next week. Just PM me for a causal game.

Meeplemart has only banned "legitimate" 7th ed. books we'll see how the situation develops.
GW is such a shifty company that makes so many stupid decisions that it feels dirty to support them, despite loving the 40k universe. I just wish that there was a unified online movement to create new game rules that people could proxy their 40k models for. If it was done right, I don't think the GW lawyer patrol could do much to prevent this. But it's probably next to impossible to get players to agree to nerfs/changes without the GW logo appearing there. Which is a shame, since the game design is clunky at best, and GW responds by making it more clunky and random.

Hmm, well after reading the new rule book today I've got to say other than the psyker phase and a couple other tweaks there isn't a huge difference between 6th and 7th edition. Vehicle damage chart is interesting, though absolutely brutal for trying to kill super heavies, and the minor nerf to D weapons is pretty sweet for everyone who doesn't field such weapons, but the huge nerf to smash is going to cause a lot of issues with MC players out there. All and all though, should be pretty easy for people to switch from 6th to 7th without running into a lot of rule confusions that usually come with a new rule set.

Always use ws in the assault phase, use bs in the shooting phase. As for getting a cover save in melee, that hasn't been allowed since 3rd edition i think, so not sure how your opponent thought differently. Now if you are throwing your haywire grenade in the shooting phase at his skimmer then you need bs and he gets a cover save.

Lol, sounds like a rough game to play, is he blood angels or a mix force using 2 armies?
As for atsknf, it does let you auto rally, but it never saves you from the table edge. If you hit the edge you are gone. As for scouts having melta bombs, as far as i know only the sergeant can buy melta bombs and unless you know what you are facing, or have a very specific plan for your scouts it seems unlikely that someone would waste the points on a back field objective holding unit.
Now i can understand not having meph as your warlord, unless I am running only 1 hq I never use him as my warlord. Since he isn't an IC, and considering you have 2-3 super heavies with D weapons it is a very easy kill point to get. As for tournies not using secondaries for points, I have never been to one that doesn't use the secondary objectives in some form or another, and more than a few make up additional secondaries to add in.
As for the skimmers, being 4 inches apart should be more than enough unless you are firing apoc size blasts at him. There is no way a large blast can hit 2 vehicles that are 4 inches apart since it is only 2.5 inches from the middle hole to the edge.

Great game today Optimus... My first edition 7 victory... And it was very enjoyable... Love the new tactical objective missions.

They were alot of fun, dispite loosing 1/3 of my army by turn 3the game only ended 13-8. Loved that a single scout managed to take an objective from under the foot of a Knight.
I think I'll drop any psychic powers from my list, they are a little too unrealiable now..

I've got room for one or two more players if anyone would like to join in! Let me know.
I was sitting beside you folks building warmachine models. The game looked pretty neat! I might try it out sometime.

Yeah, the doubles rule makes it trickier for sure... Want a big strength 10 vortex? Then prepare to roll on the perils chart! Love it! The new tactical objectives may breathe life back into more mobile armies, and the battle forged benefit was useful.

Hello,
New to WH40k and would love to get a game going somewhere in Toronto.
I'm staying in Markham through the week (live in London normally) for work.
I can field 1500 points of orks, but I'm really green.
Cheers!

Would anyone be up for a casual game of 40k? I will be free for the next 4 days(Thurs, Fri, and weekend) anytime, preferably in the morning/afternoon. Unless something unexpected comes up.
I can travel to GW Yonge/Lawrence, Friendly Troll, Dueling Grounds, Heavy Support, Meeplemart or anywhere in the GTA within walking distance of TTC buses/subway.
I'd prefer to play 6th edition, but if you have 7th I'd be down for it. I just won't have a copy of the rulebook and would need some explanation to the changes and new rules. Not gonna spend anymore money than I really need to.
I've pretty much finished painted 1/2 of my army. Would like to see them in action. Please PM if anyone is interested.

Ahh, too bad. Depends on which codex you mean, eldar didn't change, BA got a lot, plus possibly massive vehicle nerf for no reason, hard to know if it's just a typo or not. Hey, welcome to the forum (if only for a week), if you are interested and free on saturday we could get game in. I mostly play at Legends Warehouse, which is located in Vaughan (Langstaff/Weston Rd) so if you have a car we could set up a meet/time and play some 40k. Would you be looking to play 6th or 7th edition?

Question for anyone who games regularly at the younge/lawrence GW:
Any general opinions/info on the place? As 40k at meeplemart might become tenuous at best, and a lot of players (myself included) are migrating over to infinity, I figure I'd look into alternate venues.
How's the general population? Are games mostly scheduled, or what are the best times for walk-in pickup games?
Is forgeworld accepted?
I have a lot of customized/kitbashed models (all GW parts though), how's that kind of stuff looked upon by the players/management?
Likewise for home-brewed or house ruled systems (like heralds killteam)

I'm just getting back into 40k, I'd be down for a game. I could do tonight. You have a specific store/area in mind to play at?
You have a 7th edition rulebook, and how many points of army do you have atm?
@alexc if he doesnt have a lot of points I'd be down to do some 1v2 where one of us goes versus jasharen and the other, equal points. would seem like a nice way to ease a new player in as well as get myself used to 7th.

I'm down with tonight.
I am working at 16th ave and 404, but I have a vehicle and can go wherever you prefer.
I know where legends is, the other stores not so much.
As for points, it depends on how I put it together but I have 1500 points pretty easily. I'm not sure if my first game should be that big though!
I have 6th edition rules, however I'm game to play 7th.

Meeplemart's at Dundas and Spadina. Duelling Ground's at Bloor and Dufferin. I don't have a car, so I'm restricted to these options I'm afraid.
I can field up to 1250 points of Space Marines. I'll play 2v1 or 1v1 or whatever. 6th or 7th edition. I haven't played 7th yet, but I have the rules.

Ahh sadly i'm not free on sunday because it's father's day. I am available saturday if anyone is interested.
As for the tactical objective missions, i'm not sure how i feel about them yet. I'm worried by what i've seen so far since they seem to remove all strategy from the game, it basically just becomes a game of throwing away units to grab an objective turn after turn. Also with no rules in place to balance out the drawing/handling of cards that are actually impossible to complete, it can make the game trivial if your opponent simple draws better cards than you. Automatically Appended Next Post: As for the haywire grenades, you can throw 1 haywire grenade in shooting phase, and then every model that is equipped with a haywire grenade can use one in melee as long as they are attacking a vehicle, they have no effect against MC's. Hi Berent,
If you live close to U of T, Meeple Mart is probably closest for you, as they're right in China town. Currently not allowing 7th edition in their store because of some issues with GW coporate (Here's hopeing they figure it out soon, they have a really sweet place).
There's also the GW up at Yonge and Lawrence, right by the subway, and full of really friendly people.
I haven't been to Dueling Grounds for playing yet, but I hear that they are also a bunch of nice people, with some awesome terrain, right beside Dufferin station.

X Planet Games is great! If you shopped at Square One back in 3rd ed you might remember Lionel as the manger. He was promoted to upper management in GW and moved into the offices at the Bunker. After GW Canada merged with GW USA many of the Canadian staff were laid off. Lionel went with his dream of opening a game store and that store is X Planet Games.
Half of the old employees from Square One still shop there and the store seems to attract an older mature clientele ie lots of us old vets.
I really recommend checking it out especially since you are local to Mississauga.

Update on the Meeplemart situation via their facebook:
Meeplemart and Games Workshop
After careful consideration; reading the numerous comments posted and speaking to many customers regarding Meeplemart's recent GW "dilemma", we have decided to continue to offer Games Workshop products at Meeplemart. While many people no longer have interest in GW's products, many of our customers still do and have expressed the desire for us to continue carrying the products and offering our game space to play 40K and Fantasy.
It has never been our intention to force players to play (or not play) certain systems and we believe it best that (despite what we personally think of GW's business practices), Meeplemart as a business should remain neutral and you, our customers, should make the decision as to whether or not to purchase their goods or put your money elsewhere.
Going forward we will continue to stock (and restock) GW products for the foreseeable future and continue to offer the game space for 40K/ Fantasy play. If GW eventually decides to entirely pull their catalog from retailers (they are close to about 50% at this time), thereby no longer allowing us to sell their products, we may, (WORST case scenario) instigate a small fee for using the game space to play GW games (somewhere in the neighbourhood of $5 a day). We believe this is a fair compromise to our customers that have bought (or will buy) GW products from Meeplemart and significantly reduces the "fear" of buying into/ supporting a game that may or may not (depending on your personal situation) require a store game space to play.
So, over the next couple of days, expect a huge 40K/ Fantasy/ Citadel restock (and new releases) to arrive at Meeplemart.
...and GW will NOT be instigating their annual price increase this year.
So, yay! I don't have to find a new place to game.
40k day is sunday afternoon at meeplemart, and there's usually a few games going on. I'll be busy playing a shadowrun game this weekend, but next week I should be there for a game or two.

Hey Toronto 40k'ers
I'm hoping to get in a couple of games of 7th ed. 40k at Meeplemart this Sunday July 6th. I've yet to actually play a game of 7th, so I need to get a bit of practice in before Astronomicon!
I'd prefer to use Astro limitations since that's what I'm practising for:
-1500 pts, min 1 Combined Arms + any ONE of: Allied Detachment / Formation / Inquisitorial Detachment / Lost and the Damned
-No Come-the-Apocalypse allies
-Warlord trait is selected rather than rolled.
...but if that's too restrictive, I'll be happy to get in any 1500pt games of 7th ed.

To my tyranid opponent on Sunday (sorry, didn't catch your name) : we played Perils of the Warp all wrong!
We should only have been Perilsing on double SIXES , not on any doubles. The perils-on-any-doubles is only for non-Daemons casting malefic powers, or for non GKs casting Sanctic. Big Oops, and I know you took more perils wounds than I did.
I think that's all we got wrong though, so for my first (and your second) game of 7th that's not terrible.

i just moved to uxbridge, built two tables for the basement but still working on scenery. Hoping to find a new gaming group (moved from London, On where all my other nerd buddies were). Could play at stores maybe in Newmarket, Pickering or Markham? Looking for 40k or Fantasy

Haha you guys are priceless. The only torture that occurred in that basement optimus was when you dropped that beer on the table and then had it spill onto the carpet. Yes I keep bringing it up, I'm sorry.
Rythem you have yet to check out my place we should get together sometime soon. I'll let you keep your kidney this time.

Saturday Night After -Tournament Events
After a day of tough dice rolling, we know you will want to relax and enjoy the night, either to celebrate your victories or drown your sorrows.
We have gone the extra mile to provide a food court with vendors such as Pizza Pizza and a Beer Garden for gamers 19 and over.
If you haven’t had enough dice rolling, we are running mini tournaments such as:
Tanks-Giving Tank Battles: Kill as many enemy vehicles as possible. The player that racks up the most kill points during the round is the winner.
Cost: $5.00/ Round
Participants: 2 – 12 Player Per Round
Time: 1 Hour
Mile High Aces Club: Do you think you got what it takes to be in the danger zone or be the next Ork Krewz? Well….this is the game for you. Bring a flyer and battle it out for air supremacy and bragging rights.
Cost: $5.00/ Round
Participants: 2 – 12 Player Per Round
Time: Rounds are usually 1 Hour Long
And We Shall Paint the Galaxy in the Emperor's Light: Upon exiting the Warp , two GW Supply ships collide after a beer run and rain debris upon a hostile world. Multiple forces descend upon the planet to reclaim the GW relics, or simply scavenge the remains.
Each player brings 1 (one) Basic Troop Unit worth up to 150 points from any Warhammer 40k Army Codex.
One GW Paint Pot per player will be placed on the field as objectives. Then let the Mayhem ensues and “... crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women!" Ok..Ok..you can leave the women part out of it.
After the time limit or if only 1 man is standing, the paint pots you gather is yours to keep and go forth and Paint the Galaxy.
Cost: $5.00/ Round
Participants: 2 – 12 Player Per Round
Time: Rounds are usually 1 Hour Long
Off to the Races: So you’re afraid of heights and would rather put the petal to the metal. Grab your favorite Vehicle, Skimmer or Chariot and out race and out gun your opponents to the finish-line.
Cost: $5.00/ Round
Participants: 2 – 6 Player per Race
Time: Races are 15-30 Minutes
See you there.......

Got the new codex, I wasn't expecting much going in based on the rumors and such but to be honest I don't care so much about the competitiveness of the army. Orks are orks, as long as it is fun to play that's what matters. I enjoy the book so far, have yet to play a game yet though. Looking forward to adding a Stompa to my walker army. Since selling my IG I plan to build up a more diverse ork army as well.

Post by: Rythem
Just want to thank chris and the gang at legends for throwing a truly epic 2 day 40k tournie. Betweeen the games, different armies, players, food and the copious amounts of beer i drank, i doubt i've had a better weekend of 40k ever. And yes even seeing/playing against all those super heavies didn't take away from the good times..
Let me know when the pics from the tournie go up, wouldn't mind taking a look at some of the shots you got while we were gaming away.
26319
Post by: jae4x4
Don't kid yourself that tournament was a load of BS, in the 1000 point doubles we ran into 2 warhounds and 1 transcended catan. Will be the last time i go to a tourny that allows super heavies.
36447
Post by: Rythem
Lol, i faced a stompa and a transcended ctan in the doubles, as well as a keeper of secrets and a great unclean one in the same army in the singles and i still had a good time. Now i will admit playing against super heavies isn't easy, and I prefer to not see them at all, but since it was legends first 7th edition tournie i was willing to try out full foc. Now that we know that super heavies take so much away from the game and the tournie scene hopefully that will be the last we see of them.

You have the give the guys at Legends credit, they tried something new. Instead of saying "No" they said "Why not?" I'd rather try something first, see where it's broken and fix it for next time, then just restrict everything and have nothing ever change.
I think some good lessons can be learned from this past weekend and having them applied to the next time will only make it better.

I enjoyed the Legend's tournament, and had fun playing with my Stompa, in fact I would credit the Stompa to starting lots of conversations, which in turn lead to talking to more war gamers.
As for LoW.. I think they are fine, but may need to be moderated with a banned list for some of the sillier ones, such as the double D warhounds, Kustom Stompa's and Trancendant.
It may intrigue you to know that on the Singles tournament day the armies with the Transcendant c'Tan's did not place top 4, in fact two of the top four ran pretty standard fair armies that where well simply well played., Tyranids and IG Pask list.
37016
Post by: More Dakka
Even the army that took the top spot in singles was standard FOC, though it did have a Stompa.
I played it first round and the Stompa did very little before getting destroyed.
I think Superheavies are fine, but Superheavies + Unbound is a bit over the top. At least if you bind the Superheavies into a standard FOC they severely limit the remainder of what the rest of the force has to work with.
Personally I think they should be limited to 1 Strength D shooting weapon or none at all (just CC SD weapons). Automatically Appended Next Post: Overall I had a good time, I didn't run into any supercheese, just solid competitive armies.
67875
Post by: raoiley
who's who? in doubles i ran a bunch of venoms and my partner ran war walkers. decided not to go hardcore and wished i had.
so then...
in singles i ran a seer council and a c'tan. and got owned aha.
who did i meet from the board at the tourny?
37016

You met me, I played the Pask IG army and came in 3rd. Automatically Appended Next Post: You also my buddy Mike, who played you with the Cent-star (I think last game?)

Post by: Rythem
Pretty sure you played a different stompa in the first round dakka, you played a regular stompa, the one that took first place overall was the custom stompa that was basically 75% of his army score in 1 model.
As for the tournie, i was your partner for the doubles and ran the battle forged list of tyranids for the singles that came in 4th overall.

I think so ya, i was 4th, you were 3rd, and then stompa first and second.

Post by: More Dakka
The regular Stompa list wasn't cheesy by any measure, even with the special IA8 warbiker boss. Maybe my list just countered his well, but I didn't find anything to be OP, just solid overall. Our game went really close until he failed a 7 or 8" charge with the Stompa into Pask's squad on a 4. That right there swung the whole game my way, even though I had no way of getting the Relic.
That Custom Stompa was pretty crazy from what I heard though.
36447
Post by: Rythem
Nah regular stompas are like baneblades without the d cannon, harder to kill but nothing a normal all comers list shouldn't be able to handle, they tend to be priced for what you get as well. It's when d str 10 inch blasts start going all over the place that things become boring.
67875
Post by: raoiley
Oh crazy, while hello again to everyone! Nice to put some faces to names.
I still maintain that my haywire could eat a stompa and I'm upset that i bitched out.
Also, gravcents are so evil. I'm going to teleport draigo around with five.
And invisibility is so good. I could have beat that kustom stompa if I'd been paying attention to the objectives more carefully. He wasted my transcendent, but the last three turns he couldn't even shoot because my jet council had invis up.
Then of course the same power kneecaps me against the centurians and my ctan eats it
52056
Post by: optimusprime14
Oh ya invis is broke-ass broken. IMO it's just as bad as super heavies that can sling D-plates all over the place.
Hey it's all a part of the game so I'll still play them, and you know what they say: If you can't beat them, join them!

I (Ryan, or regular Stompa Tall Guy) got 2nd in the singles and 3rd in the doubles.
So More Dakka, you killed my Stompa in that first game... still mad about all those 2's but it was a great game.
52056
Post by: optimusprime14
@Canuckish: Ya he'll do that to you. My first ganme of 40K was against him. I played deep striking BA, he brought a leaf blower IG list, take one guess how that went...
Lucky enough he's a good guy and I stayed in the hobby
