Finally finished the Chaos Lord - pics of him are over on my Showcase thread!

Ugh, man, it's been forever since I've spent a solid chunk of time working on my models. Getting back into it again though, finally! Right now I'm working on a couple of squads of snipers and a Land Speeder Storm, in my pre-Heresy colour scheme.

The boys in the speeder aren't actually glued in yet, gonna do that once they're painted. Bloody clowns, the lot of them.

This here's my scout sergeant Jabari (who in my personal army fluff is also one of my Terminators, and a psyker, hence the different head). He's been modded up a bit - spare sniper rifle stuck on his back, and the bandoleer strap has been sculpted out of greenstuff, with some grenade bits stuck on as well. The sword has also been modded - it's the original scout arm, with the blade cut off and a larger blade stuck on to make the power sword.

Still got a fair bit of work to do on him, and of course a lot of work to do on the rest of the scouts. They've already done well for me on the tabletop though, so I'm looking forward to getting them finished and fielding them properly!

Back again, with some decent progress on my scouts! These guys are actually the first time I've painted skin tones and faces. XD It's been a learning experience! Also, I seriously regret gluing these guys together before painting them, especially with the cloaks. Ugh. Ah well.

First squad of five, including Jabari as the sergeant. Still a lot of work to do on the three in the back.

Second squad of five, all long range and camo'd up. Again, still got a lot of work to do on all of these ones.

Jabari here is pretty much finished, and I've almost finished this other scout - just gotta touch up a few more things on him and add the Water Effects to his base.

I'm trying to give all these guys varying skin tones and hair/eye colours, so it'll be interesting to see what I can do with them. Man, painting the eyes is a pain in the everything, heh.

Hopefully I'll have another update soon. Comments and feedback are, as always, very much appreciated!

Very nice! Those skin tones are indeed perfect. They are going to look awesome when they are all finished!

Post by: Skits

@Commander Cain: Thank you! I'm just hoping the rest of them look as good once they're all done!

Anyway, back again! I'm still working on the scouts, but I don't really have much new to show for them. I've got some other stuff I'm also working on, though!

First up, I'm customising some MkIV armour from Forgeworld to make one of my Deathwatch characters; Jahi, a Raptorae discipline Librarian from my loyalist Thousand sons army. I've made a book out of plasticard and greenstuff, and it'll be hanging from a chain around his waist. I've also carved a khopesh-style force sword from plasticard, and I've started on the greenstuff modifications like the tabard and helmet.

Here's a bit of a closer look at the book and khopesh.

I've also finally put together a model I got from Games Day back in 2012 - a Blood Angels captain. Not sure if I want to customise him up for my own army, or leave him as is and paint him as a proper Blood Angel. Decisions, decisions.

Finally, something I'll be working on in the background when I don't feel like doing anything else...

Nice work, man! I really like the freehand (and sculpted!) shoulder pad iconography. Fantastic banner work too!

As a BA guy, I look forward to seeing your Space Hulk models come together, and maybe that Games Day captain.

@pantheralegionnaire: Thanks man! Yeah, I'm looking forward to working on the Space Hulk models. Part of me wants to customise them for my Thousand Sons - but the rest of me doesn't want to mess with them, because they're such nice sculpts! It truly is a dilemma.

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/02/12 11:58:26

Post by: Skits

Got a bit more done on my Deathwatch character, Jahi! I've tidied up his tabard a bit, carved the nasal crest for the helmet, and made a chain for his book. Waiting for the greenstuff chain to dry so I can tidy it up and then stick his arms on.

Planning on doing a bit more detail work on him too - mainly drilling out the center bit of his chestplate and greenstuffing a scarab or something in there, hopefully that will work out. Thinking of getting rid of the skull over his abdomen, too - thoughts?

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/02/12 12:07:09

Post by: dubovac

I agree with you on removing skull. If you remove it you will get nice free space for some kind of free hand.

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/02/12 18:22:37

Post by: Edreynaline

You could incorporate the skull into a freehand if you were going that way. Otherwise I thinks it looks good there, maybe a green stuff I for the deathwatch representation could be built round it?

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/02/13 01:06:03

Post by: Skits

Ooh, the Deathwatch =I= is a nifty idea...! It'd be interesting to see if I could pull it off, that'd be some really fine detail greenstuffing...

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/02/13 01:14:27

Post by: Commander Cain

That there is some excellent sculpting, can't wait to see him finished!

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/02/13 12:37:36

Post by: Skits

@Commander Cain: Thank you! I can't wait either, hehehe.

Okay, so I've added the scarab to the chestplate and decided to try that Inqusitorial =I= idea on the abdomen. Had to trim down the top of the skull to give some room for the top half of the symbol. This is just the first pass, waiting for the greenstuff to dry before I tidy it up and stuff.

Opinions? What does everyone think of the Inquisitorial symbol so far? Keep it? Ditch it? Any other comments?

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/02/13 13:40:48

Post by: dubovac

To be honest I am not fan of it. Somehow Thousand sons seem to proud to me to wear that symbol. Somehow I imagine them to feel its burden as too much restrictive and maybe prohibitive and Thousand Sons dont handle the pressure too well .
But that is your character so if you feel it go with it. Your greenstuffing skills are great so you are able to represent it well enough.

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/02/13 13:40:56

Post by: Edreynaline

Nice work! Exactly how I imagined it. (although I'm obviously biased here) that model is looking gloriously singular. Exactly how deathwatch should look.

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/02/13 14:02:41

Post by: Skits

@dubovac: Yeah man, I get what you mean! There's a lot of background fluff to this char though (and the rest of his "chapter" XD), and part of it is them doing their best to fit in with current Imperium - which includes the Deathwatch. And the Sons have always been good at deception and misdirection, after all. So if that includes wearing a symbol they otherwise wouldn't, then so be it!

@Edreynaline: Bias or no, thank you! Especially for the suggestion in the first place - I wouldn't have thought of it myself! Sculpting details that small has been an interesting challenge. I'm so looking forward to finishing up the detailing so I can get his arms on properly and finally see him in full, heh. And man, painting black armour is gonna be a nice change from all the red I've been doing lately!

Some more progress! Now that the greenstuff's dry, I tidied up the Inquisition symbol a little and finally finished putting this guy together. On the hunt for xeno scum!

I think he's just about ready to prime and paint! As always, comments and feedback are welcome! Oh, and would anyone be interested in seeing a step by step of how I made the sword?

Just keep in mind that the Deathwatch/Ordo Xenos isn't just about pew pew pew. They're about political affairs and such and other dealings with aliens, not just killing.

Okay so I've just posted a tutorial thread on how to make swords out of plasticard!

This is the sword I made and the lovely subject chosen to (temporarily) model it! I'll be properly modifying this guy at some point - I'm not sure if I want to keep all the studs on him though. I'll definitely be taking them off the helmet and modifying that to be more Sons-y like my others. Any thoughts on the studs? Keep 'em or lose 'em?

@wolflordkejl: Thank you!

Hello again all! I've just posted a step by step on how I paint skin and hair - I hope people will find it useful!

As for my WIPs - I've finally finished and photographed my 25th Anniversary model modification and the rest of his tactical squad, and I've also finished the two five-man scout squads I was working on earlier. The photos for them all are in here!

Here's a bit of progress on the six scouts for my Landspeeder Storm - I used them for the skin and hair tutorial.

And here's my Deathwatch marine Jahi primed and ready for painting!

Though I'm waiting for some new magnets to come in before I actually start painting him - I've decided to magnetise his backpack so I can switch it out for an assault jump pack as well. Death from above!

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/05/06 13:32:04

Post by: Skits

My magnets arrived today, hooray!

So here we have Jahi with his assault pack, zoomzoom tearass.

I put the magnets above the bump/hole so that the backpack/jump pack would still sit straight on his back and not swing around any.

The magnets I've used here are 3mm in diameter and 1.5mm thick.

Hopefully I'll get around to starting to paint him soon! As always, comments/feedback welcome.

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/05/10 15:46:21

Post by: Skits

Got started on Jahi's paint! Haven't gotten far yet though, so it still looks terrible, heh.

Besides that, I've also been working on converting my Storm Talon to something slightly less lumpy-potato-like. XD I've managed to get the assault cannon up higher into the nose while still keeping a bit of rotation/elevation movement, so I'm pretty pleased with that.

However, I have a problem! I am terribly indecisive, so I need comments and opinions on where to put all the OTHER weapons!

Version 1 - Lascannons on the wingtips, bolters flush against the nose, missile pods under the wings up against the engines. I'd also trim off those extruding bits where the weapon pods would normally mount either side of the nose, so the nose profile will be slimmer.

Version 2 - Missile pods integrated into the roof instead of mounted under the wings. If I do go with this, I'll actually be sinking the pods more flush against the roof so they're not sitting up quite so high. I just don't want to cut anything off yet until I finalise what I'm actually doing.

Version 3 - Lascannons flush against the nose and extending far out to the front, heavy bolters mounted on the outside. If I go with this, I'd modify the extruding bits to better suit having the bolters mounted in them.

Version 4 - Bolters flush against the nose, lascannons mounted on the outside. If I go with this, I'd modify the extruding bits to better suit having the lascannons mounted in them.

Or any other ideas that people might have! I don't want to mess with the wings/tail too much though, 'cause I actually quite like how they are (and I still want to be able to fit this thing into the custom foam I have for it! ) I mostly just wanted to trim down the nose as much as I can.

Help me, Dakkadakka! You're my only hope!

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/05/13 16:31:06

Post by: Skits

Got some feedback on the Storm Talon elsewhere, so I've been working on getting it finished! Still dry-fitted for the moment though.

I'm really pleased with the modified assault cannon - it still has elevation/depression and a 360 degree arc. I also managed to hinge the cockpit canopy! Mostly just to see if I COULD, heh. I forgot about the top panel of the hull though, so I had to trim it down a little bit to let the canopy open further. If I were to do this again, I'd try hinging it at the front of the canopy instead.

Here's a better look at the modifications I made to the assault cannon:

And here's a closer look at the lascannons and how I modified them before sticking them on the wings.

The customisation is mostly done now, I think, save for some minor detailing. My little space potato is just about ready to properly assemble, prime and paint!

Comments and feedback welcome! Any other suggestions for the Storm Talon?

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/05/13 17:22:23

Post by: Kepora

The lascannons need some kind of power source/firing components; as they are now, they're just barrels! XD

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/05/13 19:41:56

Post by: Commander Cain

Great conversion! I do agree that the lascannons need some form of power source, even if it's just a power cable running along the wing.

Another thing you may want to consider is extending the nose of the ship, it worked wonders for my own conversion.

Spoiler:

Loving the converted assault cannon, really smart idea.

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/05/14 04:58:33

Post by: Skits

Thanks for the feedback!

@Kepora: Yeah, I've been trying to think of what to add to those lascannons! I kinda reasoned that the power supply stuff was back in the engine nacelles and connected to the barrels through the interior of the wing. I do agree that the lascannons do need something more though, I just don't know WHAT yet. Need to see what bits I can find!

@Commander Cain: I kinda like the idea of a power cable of some sort, but logically it doesn't make sense for that kinda thing to be out in the open, y'know? I figure something like that would be put inside the wing itself.

Also I don't want to change the overall shape of the Talon too much, otherwise I won't be able to fit it in its custom foam, like I said earlier. Although I could possibly build a slight extension to the nose from plasticard... but then I wouldn't have room for the sensor/light package currently in the nose. Hmmm.

Any more ideas, people?

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/05/14 05:30:08

When i saw this

It made me think of this
Spoiler:

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/05/14 06:21:59

Post by: Skits

@Jehan-reznor: Ahaha yeah, I can see why! I'll take that as a good thing.

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/05/20 04:26:59

Post by: Skits

So after that feedback, I decided to redo the lascannons on the wingtips entirely. It's taken a while, and a lot of trial and error since I was just making it up as I went along, but here we go!

I'm also considering extending the nose - I've made a mock-up out of cardboard and photoshopped it a similar grey so it doesn't stick out so much.

Thoughts? Should I extend the nose, or leave it as is?

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/05/20 07:58:43

Post by: Barzam

It looks good. The new nose really makes it look like a new aircraft. My only problem would be the weapon mounts on the wings. If the plane needs to hover, those weapons would be unusable.

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/05/20 13:08:11

Post by: Skits

@Barzam: Thanks! Yeah, that issue with the weapons on the wingtips did occur to me, but I figure the main weapon it'd be using when it hovers is the assault cannon. I'm happy to keep the lascannons as a fly-by shooty thing, heh. Also, rule of cool.

Altho now I'm tempted to make the lascannons on the wingtips with a swivel thing to fix that issue... hmm.

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/05/20 18:36:22

Post by: Commander Cain

Ooh very nice indeed! The lasguns do indeed look very cool and the extended nose is awesome.

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/05/21 01:48:32

Post by: Skits

@Commander Cain: Thank you!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
So I decided to go with the nose extension, and after five different cardboard mock-ups to figure out measurements, I've finally made the actual plasticard extension!

In-progress shot of nose construction:

Base nose construction done:

Seams filled with greenstuff:

Just waiting for the greenstuff to dry, then I'll tidy it up and sand it down. Once that's done, I think it'll finally be ready to start painting!

Oh, and making the base. Planning on doing something like this! I've already got the plexiglass to use for the broken ice.

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/05/23 04:27:43

Post by: Skits

So after all that fiddling, I think I've finally completed the modifications on my Storm Talon! I moved the emblem on the nose down a bit to help cover the seam, added lights and sensor package things to the front, and added rivets to the nosecone and the lascannons on the wings. I'll finally be able to start priming and painting this puppy!

Showing off the moving bits: hinged cockpit canopy, 90 degree depression/360 degree rotation on the assault cannon, and movable tail landing gear! (though the last is a little redundant now since I raised the assault cannon into the nose, whoops. )

Also got a bit more painting done on Jahi! Still trying to figure out how best to shade black, bleh. Long way to go yet!

As always, comments and feedback are welcome!

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/05/24 09:13:43

Post by: Kepora

I saw oen guy use Agrax Earthshade for shading black, and it looked pretty sweet! could be worth a try, hm?

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/05/25 04:13:12

Post by: Skits

@Kepora: Agrax earthshade is probably a bit too warm of a shade for what I'm going for on this model - though I could probably get a similar effect from using the blue wash instead, hmm...

Right now, I've used black primer, then a few thin layers of Fenris Grey, washed with black wash to darken it down again, then highlighted some edges with Shadow Grey and White. I think I need to go back to the Fenris Grey step again though, heh. Ah well, I'll get it eventually!

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2015/05/29 14:19:46

Post by: Skits

A bit more progress on Jahi!

I think I'm just about done with the black, at least for now! Still got a fair bit more to do, but he's getting there.

I've also been experimenting with making another weapon - this time with an engraved blade. Started off with a thick piece of plasticard roughly cut to shape, then cut out two thin pieces and cut out the area where I wanted the engraving to go and glued them on:

Then filled in the area with greenstuff and used a pin to engrave stuff - in this case "Scientia". XD

Once the greenstuff's dried, then I can go about carving the blade to its proper shape. However, I've decided that the plasticard I started with for this one is too thick, 'cause the blade is ending up thicker than I want. So I'm scrapping this one and starting again with thinner plasticard next time. Still, this general method should work. Trial and error!

Another project I'm working on - Chapter Master Akil Amari! Right now, I've only used blu-tak to do a (very rough!) test of the helmet adjustments, hair, and chest scarab. Blu-tak is surprisingly useful for this kind of thing, I've found! I'm waiting for some Milliput to arrive before I start actually sculpting.

The green parts are where I've had to fix bubbles/mold slip, bleh.

And this is the start of the blade that will become his weapon! The glaive is gonna be named Ahemait, which is a variation on "Ammit", the soul-eater. I figure it's an appropriate name for a force weapon.

Finally got my milliput in and have been playing with it! Used straight up milliput first, then tried a 50/50 milliput/greenstuff mix. Adding the greenstuff makes the milliput easier to work with, I think! Gonna hafta wait until it dries to see how hard it is and how well it sands down.

So here's the current state of Chapter Master Akil Amari - missing his right hand atm, I'll need to sculpt that once I've finished the rest of the weapon.

And a better view of the blade on Ahemit:

Still a lot of tidy up to do, but progress has been made!

veyr nice work! tell me, in what order did you mix the GS and Milliput components? I've tried it before, but every time it just turns into a mess. D:

@Kepora: Thank you!

I got out all four pieces of greenstuff and milliput components, made sure they were all about the same size. Mixed the greenstuff together first, as normal, for a couple of minutes. Mixed the millput together for a few minutes, making sure there were no streaks.

Then I mixed the two together until there were no more streaks of different colour - then kept mixing it for a couple of minutes more. XD

Some more progress!

I'm experimenting with the gold at the moment, using a purple wash as well as a brown wash to shade it. Still need to finish highlighting the gold, using a lighter gold and silver. I think I also need to work on the red some more, darken the shadowed areas back down again.

Opinions?

Hey guys, I could really use some feedback on this fellow! I'm getting closer to finishing him, though I still need to do a lot more work on his glaive and cloak, work on the gold areas some more, fix up a few other small details I've missed, then add all the freehand stuff.

I'm also considering building him a bigger base that I can slot this one into - I'm just not sure exactly what to do with it.

Any thoughts, opinions, suggestions?

Stellar work, as always! I'm amazed every time by how the end result looks like an official model rather than a converted one, which shows your skill with green stuff and plasticard I think

Any chance of the Corvidae sharing what they have seen in your army's future?

Ahh, thank you! I'm especially pleased with the hand holding the glaive, since that was entirely greenstuff!

As for the Corvidae... heh, funny you say that. Akil up there is Corvidae! He says the paths of the future are myriad and unclear, but he's catching glimpses of...fast-moving things. Perhaps bikes, perhaps assault marines, maybe even a talon of storms in crimson and white. Hints of a Land Raider, a sword of shadows, maybe a couple of Deimos chassis that could be either Rhinos or Predators... some terminator armour in either grey or crimson... and looming in the distance, a grand knight of the Imperium.

Time will tell!

The powerfist holding his helmet is a great touch, and really outlines the size of such fists/weapons

Probably the only suggestion I have is to paint the base sides black. I imagine a lot of work went already into it, but i feel the contrast would be way better.

Anyway, just nitpicking really... Keep 'em coming!

@ciuncky: Thank you! I can't claim credit for the powerfist with helmet though, that's just how the original model came! And yeah, I get the suggestion to paint the base trim black a lot, but I want to keep the trim as it is because I plan on making a snow/ice display board for these guys, and I want their bases to blend in with the board.

On to my next project! Right now I'm kind of bouncing between a few different things until I settle on what to focus on next. Here's one of the things I'm playing with at the moment:

Experimenting with a bit of true-scaling, along with making a few robed characters for my pre-Heresy Sons army. This is still very rough, I need to do more greenstuff work on him, especially around the torso/waist area. Also going to add the usual book hanging from a chain around the waist thing. Here's a size comparison with some regular marines:

I'll be making five of these guys, I think! They'll most likely be either squad sergeants, or a five-man squad of veterans or something, I'm not entirely sure yet. Still deciding on what weapons to give them all, and whether or not to magnetise their arms for loadout swapping. Any thoughts or suggestions?

And something else I'm working on occasionally - the 25th Anniversary Crimson Fist model. Sometimes it's nice to paint something different!

Let me know what you all think!

Wow, great looking Thousand Sons! The jade on the chapter master specifically is really nice, I really had to look hard to convince my eye that it was painted instead of real!

Sorry if you covered this earlier in the blog, but whats your approach to making the curved blades and such? I saw the WIP of the most recent one, but have you been using some other tutorial or guide?

Cool stuff, keep it up!

@Jpogfreak886: Thank you! As for making the curved blades, I actually made a tutorial thread on that a little while ago. It doesn't cover the layered blade that I used for Akil, but that part should be easy enough to figure out from the WIP pics you saw earlier in this thread. I hope that helps, and let me know if you need any more info!

@Commander Cain: Thanks! Yeah, I'm enjoying working with these guys!

Got a little more work done on my robed guys this week! Here's the five in varying stages of progress - waiting for greenstuff to dry is such a pain. XD Still a lot of work and tidy-up to do on them all!

This guy's testing out a weapon idea I'm considering:

Better look at the actual blade shape:

Also, I've decided I won't be using the hooded heads from the DA box for these guys - I'll be customising helmets for them like I've done before.

Blar, I don't get as much time to work on things as I would like, but oh well. Here's a bit more progress on these guys! All major torso work done now, and starting on some of the detailing! So much sanding to get the seams smooth, ugh.

I'm thinking of making these guys Librarian Conclave, and I wanted to add something to represent the psychic hoods without actually being psychic hoods (since I personally really dislike how they look, and also so I can still just use them as vet sergeants or whatever). So I'm trying out extending the collar upwards!

It's not as obvious once the head's actually in there though (at least not from this angle, and not with the gorget there as well), so the next collar I do I might try flaring out a bit more or something.

And a bit of a look at some belt buckle detail! It's a little lopsided, but eh.

Let me know what you think!

A little more progress! They now all have their book chained to their belt, and a bit more greenstuff detailing! I've also started on a couple of the helmets, though there's still a long way to go.

One day I'll figure out consistency between all those winged scarabs... one day. But today is not that day!

@everyone who's commented so far: Thank you! I'm really looking forward to getting these guys done!

Anyway, here's a bit more progress! Working on all the weapons at the moment, though I'm still trying to decide what ranged weapons to give some of them - I am not a fan of plasma pistols, just because I have TERRIBLE luck with rolling ones whenever I use plasma. I'm also trying to get my hands on a storm bolter or two, but no luck yet. :( All the arms are magnetised - not so much for actual weapon swapping, but more so I can play with poses and also make painting easier later on.

This guy's weapons are almost finalised, I think! I'm gonna chuck a holstered pistol on his belt as well. Head and pauldrons are just there for the moment to give a better idea of sizing. Still not sure if the blades are a little too large or not. Thoughts?

Still working on this guy's glaive - testing out the arm positioning at the moment before I actually start greenstuffing in the other hand, etc. What do you all think? Does this pose work?

In-progress heads, blargh.

I'm gonna be giving one of the guys a one-handed mace + pistol or stormbolter combo - here's a rough design I've come up with for the mace. Now to see if I can actually MAKE it, heh.

One guy's gonna have a khopesh+pistol or stormbolter combo, the other's gonna be given a big ol' two-handed staff (which I still need to figure out a design for).

Let me know what you all think!

I think the Scythes are fit very well and I like the positioning on the second marine as well! The only piece i feel doesnt fit is the chaos marine skull helmet you are working on, the other two have the right feel to me. But its your work! if you like it, roll on brother!

@evildrcheese: Thank you! That's pretty much the vibe I was hoping for with that guy - great success!

@bigfish: Thanks! Yeah, most people have commented so far that the blades look fine at that size. Cheers!

@Master Azalle: Thanks! And yeah, I agree about the chaos skull helmet, actually. I'll probably end up either using another head entirely, or carving off a lot of the stuff from that one and sculpting an entire helmet over it. Thank you for the input!

And I'm back again with some more progress!

Slowly getting closer to finishing these guys...!

Sculpted the hand on the glaive, and almost finished the mace! SIXTY gorram fething individual plasticard feathers on that mace head, aaagh. I regret all my life decisions.

Also finished the khopesh and started on the war staff! Still a bit more detailing to do on that staff head, but it's getting there. Also need to do a bit more with the khopesh arm - it was originally a chaos arm so I had to carve the 'glove' off and sculpt on the wrist cuff. Still gotta add the panelling details at some point too.

I also got my hands on the Betrayal at Calth box - trying to hold off doing anything with that until I get these five idiots finished though. Still, I couldn't refrain from chopping the Contemptor into itty bitty pieces. XD

Still not sure if I'll also chop up that right leg - depends if I can get a pose I'm happy with or not!

Let me know what you think!

@KernelTerror: Thanks! I've considered casting before, but I honestly would have no idea where to start. From the various tutorials and stuff I've seen, it looks messy as hell. XD I also quite like just making 'em out of plasticard - I actually find it pretty relaxing to carve and whittle the larger blades! It's almost cathartic. It also gives each weapon that individual touch, hehe.

Thank you everyone for the comments! I'm glad the modifications work so well, and I'm looking forward to getting these idiots painted as well!

Speaking of which, here's the squad with their primer on and a bit of white sprayed from above - I've recently gotten an airbrush so I'm playing around with it a little bit. XD I also added a few rivets here and there on their weapons before priming.

I've started painting one of them, but he had a little accident and the nasal crest on his helmet got broken. :( I've patched it back together for now, but it's not neat (which is driving me insane) - you can see it in the following photos, and I'll probably end up re-making that whole helmet at some point later.

I think I've prettty much finished the white robes on this guy for now - I'd like to improve it more, but the paint's getting a bit thick.

The reds still need a bit more work, and I haven't really touched any of the other colours yet. A lot left to do!

I'm fairly pleased with the muzzle of the plasma pistol at least. Might give it a few more washes to bring up the purple more. What do you all think?

And something else I've been working on a bit lately - a magnetised Shadowsword/variants! I've been playing around with airbrushing, and I figured a nice large tank would be perfect to practice on.

In pieces! I haven't primered or started painting all the parts yet, obviously. XD

So far I've just done a purplish undercoat and the first coat of darker red. The photos kind of wash out the colour gradient though, oh well.

Anyway, that's what I've been up to lately! Let me know what you think!

Ugh, sorry about the long radio silence! For those interested, I've done a quick tutorial on sculpting fancy trim on Space Marine pauldrons if you want to have a look!

So I had a bit of a setback when this poor guy accidentally got stepped on...

I'm going to have to strip his torso down entirely so I can rebuild his book and put his other belt gear back on, and fix his helmet and his sword. Luckily the other painted parts weren't damaged, but still, the setback's kinda killed my motivation to work on these guys for the moment. One day, one day...

In the meantime though, I've been working on a few other things instead. I got a trio of Scimitar jet bikes from Forgeworld, and I'm modifying one of them to be the sergeant or captain of the squad. I'm making it so he'll be standing up on his bike, his glaive out and ready to take off some poor sucker's head. Still early stages though! I've also magnetised the jetbike weapons so I can switch between them.

I'm also painting up the Games Day 2012 Exclusive Blood Angels captain for a local painting comp thing. Here's an earlier WiP shot:

And some more current progress:

I'm still working on the NMM gold (first time trying it! EXCITING), and I've still got a fair ways to go!

As always, please let me know what you think!

Some more progress on my BA Captain! I need to get this guy finished by the end of April, after that it'll be back to your regularly scheduled Thousand Sons content!

I could really use any advice people have on painting non-metallic metal! Mostly for the gold, but also for the silver on the sword sheath. I'm already planning to bring up the highlights more and darken the shadows with some purple glazing, but any other tips about placement of highlights/shadows would be very appreciated. Thanks!

For anyone who missed it, I've finished the Blood Angels Captain!

I'm currently playing around with my new airbrush, figuring out how to use the damn thing. XD

Started painting two of the three jetbikes I have (I'm still working on posing the jetbike sergeant, UGH):

And I've also started painting my customised nyoom potato-- I mean Stormtalon (that could now double as a Stormhawk!):

Apologies for the radio silence lately! I injured my back pretty badly and was out of action for a couple of weeks, and things kinda piled up. So this update's gonna be a pretty meaty one to make up for it, since I also picked up a couple of new models along the way!

First up, a bit more progress on painting the space potato:

Still a lot of work to do! I'm trying to decide what colour to paint the missile heads - I'm waffling between pale grey/white or silver or gold. I'm also still trying to figure out where I want to add the white accents to the Stormtalon itself. Opinions?

Next up: A bit more chopping done on the plastic BaC contemptor.

I have no idea how I'm going to end up actually posing this guy yet! But when I do, I'll fill in the thighs/ankles with milliput/greenstuff and maybe some plasticard.

Next! I picked up the 35th Anniversary Imperial Space Marine model, gonna paint him in pre-Heresy Thousand Sons colours, of course. Not gonna do any modifications on him though (apart from the base), just gonna leave him as is.

I also picked up the Forgeworld Legion Praetor guy - customising him up to be a Librarian, with some psychic hood details on the head and an added book/chain as usual.

And finally - after repositioning this jetbike sergeant fether like five times, I've FINALLY gotten him to a point I'm happy with! Still some clean-up and detailing to do, but at least the overall pose is now locked in. Keeping him removable for painting though.

I'm considering adding some blood spray from the blade and maybe also a flying ork head... we'll see if I can figure out how to do it! But that aside, I need some help/advice from people who know more about jetbikes than I do, please! The fact that the models for jetbike riders don't have backpacks BUGS me - how is his armour powered? Should I add some cabling between his back and the jetbike backrest? Please let me know what you think!

Any and all comments/feedback are very much appreciated!

@evildrcheese: Ahh, thank you! Even incoherent replies are awesome, and very much appreciated. My BA guy took out the competition, which I'm very happy with!

So, progress! I recently acquired one of those little ribbed-tube-rolling things from Greenstuff World, and my initial use of it was to make the first connector thing for my jetbike guy (it really bugs me that these guys don't have backpacks like wtf). I still need to make the one for the other side, that's probably going to be fiddly as hell but oh well, I'll manage it somehow!

Also, more progress on the Tartaros Librarian!

I'm pretty pleased with how the gold came out. I'm not sure what to go for with painting the force weapon, though. Leaning towards a purple-tinged blue for colours, but I'm still trying to decide what style to paint it in. Metallic with blue-purple tinting? Blue crystal? Lightning? Something else? Any suggestions or ideas, anyone? Let me know what you think!

Update time! I didn't get to do much more on the Praetor this week, since I got a request to do a tutorial on how I sculpt my chains. So I spent most my hobby time working on that this week! If you're interested, here's the tutorial on how to make a book and chain for converting your model into a Librarian or somesuch!

Here's the guy I used for the tutorial:

I also started working on the other leader guy from the BaC box a bit, since I had some leftover millistuff - I've removed the head of the crozius and will attach a glaive type blade once I get around to carving it. I've also scarab'd up his cloak clasps so far:

I'll be modifying the helmet as well, of course. Not sure what else I'll do to him yet though, if anything. I'm still trying to decide if I want to leave him with the pistol, or remove it and give him an open 'casting psychic powers' hand or something. Thoughts?

Okay, next update! I think I've finally finished the praetor terminator!

I'll get some proper photos of him eventually, once I get around to setting up the lightbox.

Now that the praetor's done, one of the next models I'll be working on is painting the Slaughterpriest, just for something different. I'm building a base for him out of spare sprue and greenstuff/milliput; here's the guts of the base before I put the coating layer of millistuff over it to properly shape it and finish it off:

I've also started designing/building the weapon for the commander guy from the BaC set. Here's some weapon sketches I did while trying to figure out the particulars:

And the blade so far:

I'll also hopefully be using this guy to finally do a step by step on how I customise the helmets.

Let me know what you think!

Okay so now that I've finished painting the Praetor, I'm back to my 'augh what do I focus on now' indecision. XD So here's what I've been working on lately!

Customising this guy from the BaC set into a Thousand Sons Librarian:

Here's his weapon:

I still haven't actually glued the blade on yet because I want to work on it a bit more. Does it need more detail?

Also doing a bit more detailing on the terminator guy from the BaC box:

Better look at the cowl detailing (though I've cleaned it up a bit more since this pic):

And finally, the custom base for the SLAUGHTERPRIEST with HACKBLADE is finished!

I'll most likely be painting the SLAUGHTERPRIEST next because reasons. XD So that's what I've been up to this week - let me know what you think!

Damn, the base on the Slaughter Priest looks wicked, can't believe it's only sprue and green stuff.

The detailing on the B@C termie looks amazing.

Nice greenstuffing and that blade is fine as is though you could add more.

@evildrcheese: Thanks! I had fun building that base, and I love adding little details like the stuff on the terminator to models.

@Stormwall: Cheers! And yeah, I'm just not sure what sort of details to add, if I do! Decisions, decisions.

Please forgive me if I end up stealing some of your ideas from time to time, they just look so good!

@Kepora: Maybe! I don't know if I've got the right tools to do that kind of fine engraving though, hm. I was more thinking of adding a bit more detailing to the area that joins the blade to the haft. We'll see what I can come up with!

@Commander Cain: Hee, thank you! And no worries, man, steal away! It's always nice to know I'm providing some inspiration.

Aright, update time!

Think I've finished this guy's weapon, finally! Rivets make everything better.

I think he's just about ready to paint, unless I decide to make him a little taller somehow. Would be a pain to do though, so I'm still pondering how exactly I'd go about it, if I do at all.

And the reason I'm pondering it in the first place is because I gave the terminator a bit of a height boost! Here's the two side by side:

Cut him in half just above the belt, added a 1.5mm thick piece of plasticard between the two halves, and I'm currently in the process of re-sculpting his midsection. Did the front hoses and was waiting for those to dry before I did anything else.

Of course, making him taller means that his cloak now looks a little short, especially from the back...

I'm tossing up between leaving it as is, extending it with millistuff, or making the bottom edge look all torn and ragged and damaged to help explain why it's shorter. Please let me know your opinions on this!

Finally, I magnetised the base of the slaughterpriest and started getting some paint on him:

As always, let me know what you think!

Blar, apologies for the lack of update last week, I came down with a cold and didn't get much hobby done. :( But anyway!

Just in case people missed them, I finally got proper photos up for my Imperial Space Marine and the Praetor Tribune in Tartaros armour! Whew.

So onto the WiPs! Made some progress on painting the Slaughterpriest:

Still a lot of work to do! Especially on the skin, metal, and leather areas. I'm not entirely sure about the helmet yet - I feel like I need to make it darker overall to get the Khorne symbol to stand out better. Thoughts?

Something else I've been working on as well - magnetising my Imperial Knight!

The battle cannon and multi-melta magnetised to switch between the two.

I can now switch between all the weapon loadouts! I also magnetised the shield so I can switch between the two shield options as well. Still have no idea exactly how I'm gonna paint this guy up yet though, and I still need to position the legs and build the base - I have plans for that, oh yes. But it requires me cutting up one of the legs at the knee to bend it, so we'll see how that goes!

As always, let me know what you think!

@Stormwall: Thank you! I'm looking forward to getting this Knight done!

@evildrcheese: Magnets for DAYS! As for colour scheme, I honestly have no idea yet! I'd really like to do something in crimson and white and gold, to match my Sons, but I'm still waffling on the details of that one. Especially since there's already so many knights with some kind of red/white scheme. I'm also kinda tempted by the Legio Astorum scheme, especially since that particular Titan legion fought alongside the Thousand Sons during the Kamenka Troika campaign. Decisions, decisions...

@teban: Aahh cheers! I had a look at the Forgeworld paints - did you mean Valdor Gold? Thallax looks very bright coppery to me, at least online. Either way, I might have to try it sometime if I ever get around to making a proper Forgeworld order, heh. Thank you for the recommendation!

Hey there!

Valdor Gold is a very subtle golden .. gold. At least mine have been that way.

As for Thallax, yes, it is a bit on the coppery side but that reminds me so much of the Egyptian stuff... and it looks 'right' to me .

I have attached some pictures showing Thallax gold highlighted with Valdor gold.

I Hope they look good!

@teban: No worries! Purple wash is legitimately amazing, I use it on so many things, I love it.

@evildrcheese: Ahehehe funny you should ask that! I just had my weekly painting session at my local GW, getting more work done on the slaughterpriest. To answer your question, yes, there's a bit of the fiery vein action happening on the torso!

Here's the progress as of today:

Still a lot to do, but progress has been made! I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with his hackblade though. I'm considering doing it as a dark blueish-black obsidian blade, but idk for sure yet. Thoughts?

Maybe a green-ish metal, like orichalcum weapons from The Elder Scrolls?

Ten Thousand Years - Pre & Post Heresy Thousand Sons WIP Blog @ 2016/11/07 04:33:31

Post by: Skits

@Kepora: Hm, you mean like this?

That could work - the green would provide a nice contrast to the red, and if I gave it some of those yellow overtones, it'd also complement the more yellow areas of the lava. It might look a little... Christmas-y though, and given the utter lack of green in any other areas of the model, it might stand out a little too much.

Some of the other ideas I was considering for it included a sort of knapped-blue/black obsidian stone look, or going for a brassy-bronze look to match his armour trim. Or perhaps some kind of lava/fire effect, make it look like it's glowing red-hot.

Decisions, decisions!

That Chaos chappie is looking awesome Skits! Loving the glowing rune on his head.

Re. the sword, I give the weapons of my own TSons a green wash over silver that looks pretty decent. It works in the same way that purple does to enhance gold. Ill post a pic below so you get an idea of it. I also think an obsidian blade would be great. I'm not sure if you'll have any handy but highlight of grey followed by a coating of black ink (not wash, though that may look good as well) would make it look suitable shiny!

However, I'm really unsure because I'm not used to seeing Khorne with blue tones on it. Could be a nice change - no tzeenchian pun intended!

@evilddrcheese: Thanks! And yeah, I'm considering blue or green, just not sure which way to go yet, or what style to use. Decisions, decisions!

@teban: I just use Kneadatite Blue/Yellow, I'm still on my first tube of the stuff. XD As far as I know it's pretty much exactly the same as GW's greenstuff, just a lot cheaper 'cause GW buys this stuff, then just repackage/relabels it and jacks the price up.

I also use Milliput, both the standard yellow/grey for larger, less detailed areas, and the superfine white for more detailed stuff. I mix greenstuff and milliput in about a 50/50 ratio - I much prefer how greenstuff works, but it's more flexible and kinda rubbery when it dries, whereas Milliput dries rock-solid and is much easier to sand/carve. By mixing them I get the best of both worlds!

As for mastering it, aheh, I wouldn't say I've mastered it yet! I'm still learning new stuff almost every time I work on another model. That aside, I couldn't really give you an accurate time of how long I've been using it either - I started around late 2011, but took a two-year break from the hobby around 2012-2014, and since then I've been switching between modifying and painting models. It'd probably be easier to judge by the number of models I've worked on, rather than actual time. XD Which, at a rough estimate, is currently around... fifteen completed models, I think, and about that again or more still in-progress.

I think the most important thing about working with greenstuff/milliput is simply patience. Just work on a small section at a time, let it dry, sand/carve to refine the shape if needed, then add the next bit to that, rinse and repeat. You don't even need particularly fancy tools (although they probably help!) - almost all my sculpting work so far has been done with my fingernails, an old crochet needle, and a pin for fine detail.

And yeah, I can't recall seeing many Khorne-type models with much blue or green in them! I suppose if whatever I try first doesn't work out, I can always strip the sword down and try again. XD

So I finished the Slaughterpriest finally! Which means back to our regularly scheduled Thousand Sons content!

Anyway, I've done a bit more work on the Imperial knight - I cut up the left leg for some re-posing and started building the base:

Everything's still just blu-tack'd in place atm. I think I'm going to need to do some more adjustments to the left ankle to straighten up the leg a bit so the knight's not quite so splay-footed. Thoughts?

I've also started a bit on the Burning of Prospero box, to nobody's surprise ever. The height of Ahriman's nasal crest was seriously bugging me, so I shortened it. XD Still needs a little bit of cleaning up, but I'm happier with it this way.

Gotta admit, I'm kind of tempted to leave Bjo-- I mean uh Geigor in pieces like this... maybe scattered over Ahriman's base...

It would've been really cool if GW had put Othere Wyrdmake as the other character in the BoP box instead of Geigor. Ah, well.

Bit more progress on Ahriman. Hayfever attacks suck butt and make it very hard for me to focus on much for long, blargh.

Still trying to decide what colours to use for his cloak. Tabard and dangly bits will be cool white. Pondering just doing the whole cloak the same cool blue-white, but also considering doing the outside of the cloak a different colour. Not a fan of the purple that sometimes gets used though. Maybe just a dark blue?

Thoughts?

Ahriman is coming along nicely! I'd be tempted to stick with mostly white on the cloaks. Pretty sure I tried dark blue with red armour and it looked a little off. That being said if anyone could pull it off it would be you!

So! A bit more progress on Ahriman:

Still need to do his helmet, finish off other gold areas, tighten up some details, and paint the entire weapon. XD Oh and make his base. I'm still trying to decide what to DO with his weapon though, agh. Suggestions?

Also! I just realised I'd completely forgotten to show the chain axe I've been working on for a friend. So! Here we go:

Planning is important!

First stages of cutting out the axe head pieces:

Axe head pieces before assembly:

Axe head with rough trim, testing out fit/positioning before trimming down to shape:

Trim ready for assembly - also showing the little bits of sandpaper I use for shaping:

Axe head fully assembled, and the parts used to attach it to the haft:

Almost complete:

Finally finished and attached to my friend's model!

This guy is one of my friend's older models, repurposed to create his character from one of our Deathwatch rp games. The axe turned out a little large, but friend is still very happy with it! He ended up using an arm with a plasma pistol for the left arm, which I forgot to take pics of, but oh well. Both arms are magnetised anyway for posing and weapon swapping.

Update time!

Finally finished painting Ahriman! And then realised I didn't have his base ready, OOPS.

So, made his base - just need to wait for it to cool down a bit before I primer it. Bloody Aussie summer, agh.

Also cracked open the new 40k Ahriman model and put most of him together! He’s magnetised to the disc, so I can field him with or without it. Also used some greenstuff/milliput to help fill in some of the seams, just need to sand them down and smooth them out a bit, and then he’s pretty much ready for primer as well.

And finally, I started painting Geigor from the BoP box while I was waiting for the greenput to dry:

I need to figure out specifically what I’m going to do for his base though - I don’t want to do snow/ice since I do that a lot already. I’m considering ruins of Tizca for his base but my TSons heart is going ‘noooooo’ and making sad faces at me. XD

So! Thoughts, suggestions?

@Drummernathan: Sure thing, no worries! I'm planning to do a similar thing for the new 40k Ahriman model's cloak anyway, so I'll try to remember to take tutorial pics when I get around to painting him!

Anyway, been a while since my last post, apologies! I hope everyone had good holidays/New Year! I've been working on a few different things over the past few weeks, so here we go~

First off - I was commissioned to paint a Vindicare. I've since finished him but haven't gotten around to uploading the final photos yet. So in the meantime here's some WiPs of it!

I also got my hands on Canoness Veridyan, but I decided that I really needed to fix her pose and ditch the ridiculous high heels. I still need to add more detailing to her feet, but she looks a bit more comfortable now at least!

Also getting close to finishing Geigor! Just his base, his right arm and a few other bits and pieces to do.

Finally, I've started on the new 40k Ahriman as well (because I forgot I was still working on Geigor at one point, oops). Just the white of his robe's done so far.

So I just finished going through most of this thread, and I love everything. I just have a couple questions. What thickness plasticard do you use for weapons. Specifically, the one from the TS Librarian you made that's a couple pages back. And how do you get the edge bevels (or whatever you call the 'sharpened' sections of the blade) so smooth and even?

@Stormwall: Ahriman it is!

@PatrickDiomedes: The plasticard I use for weapon blades is about 1.5mm (0.06 inches) thick! It's the thickest piece from the Gale Force 9 Plasticard variety pack. If it's a blade that I want to have engravings in, though, I'll use some of the thinner pieces from that pack to make a layered blade so it doesn't end up too thick. As for the bevelling, it's mostly just carefully carving and scraping away a little at a time until I've got the angle I want, then using fine-grit sandpaper to smooth out any rough spots. I made a step by step tutorial on how to make a custom sword here, hopefully it'll explain the process a bit more clearly. I hope that helps, and let me know if you've got any other questions!

@evildrcheese: Thank you! And yes, I see what you did there. I've cleaned up the canoness' feet a bit more, but it's hard to tell the difference atm with photos, so I'm just gonna wait till I've primed her before uploading any more pics.

So, a bit more progress!

I've been working on sculpting a new head for the legion herald, and apart from a bit of sanding to smooth out a rough spot or two, I think she's finally finished! For my first time really sculpting any faces and long hair, I'm pretty pleased with how things turned out.

I also finished Ahriman's book:

and started work on his helmet:

...but I got distracted halfway through highlighting the bone on his horns because I decided I wanted to try and make a brush holder. XD

So here it is, my cheap-ass brush holder made from the spiral wire from an old spiral notebook, and leftover sprue!

It's not the prettiest thing, and time will tell how sturdy it actually is, but so far it gets the job done.

Here's a bit of a closer look at where I drilled through the corners of the support sprue and threaded the wire through to help hold it in place:

As always, let me know what you think!

Yikes, it's been a while since I last updated, apologies! I started taking miniature painting commissions earlier this year, which has been chewing up a good part of my spare time. Incidentally, for anyone interested, here's my commissions page!

Anyway! For anyone who missed it, I finished and posted my 40k Ahriman!

I also put up a tutorial on how to do his galaxy cloak, for those who were asking for it.

I've also just finished Canoness Veridyan!

As for current WiPs... here's a little more on my legion herald:

I had to re-sculpt the ponytail to actually fit it in the collar of the armour, but oh well!

Also did some detailing on the standard - XV legion, IV Fellowship. I got really lucky that it already had the IV there! Not sure what I'm going to do with the smaller circle right below the eagle, but the larger circle below that is going to have the Thousand Sons symbol free-hand painted in. Any suggestions for the smaller circle are welcome!

I've also managed to get my hands on the Collectors Edition space marine Terminator Captain from one of my local GW stores switching from Games Workshop to Warhammer. XD I'm not sure if I'm going to customise him any yet or not though, but I'll definitely be painting him as one of my 30k Thousand Sons in the red and white.

Hopefully I'll be posting some more WiP stuff pretty soon!

Hey again! I've just put up a tutorial I did for making custom street bases like this one:

And here's some of the models I'll be working on painting next - all of them for my 30k Thousand Sons army, of course.

Hopefully next time I post I'll have a bit more painting progress to show! As always, let me know what you think

Suggestion for your 'smaller circle' - a Cult logo, either his or the captain's. Alternatively, some kind of ~arcane sigil~ that involves the number three.

Very cool bases. nice idea for a brush holder!

I agree with sculpting a cult logo, company symbol or some such.

I noticed you had some new pics in the gallery so came hunting for this new blog post!

Good looking stuff as usual, I don' recognise the termie with the wrist mounted weapon, is he the LE guy?

The base is awesome as well! Using PVA to stick down the Agrellan Earth is very smart as it always chips off whenever I use it.

I haven't enjoyed perusing all of these models, but that Dread on page 1 and the basing look spectacular.

Oh cripes, it's been a while since my last post, apologies! Life got a little hectic, especially after I tore a bunch of ligaments and majorly bruised the bones in my ankle back in July. x_x Fortunately I didn't need hospitalisation or surgery, and it's recovering pretty well, but I'm still looking at another three more months until I can even think about getting back to sports, blargh.

I've also been busy lately with doing commission painting - if you're interested, please check out my Facebook page! I'll keep this thread for showing my own WiP stuff though, unless enough people request otherwise! XD

It looks like I forgot to post Nadim here when I posted him in my Showcase, oops! This guy managed to win me not one, but two local painting comps, so I'm pretty pleased with him, especially the freehand.

Also! I recently got myself a pretty decent webcam, and I've been playing around with some painting vids and such. I don't have much yet - painting around the camera is a pain in the ass and I'm still getting used to it, and I also need to get some better lighting. I do intend on eventually doing some tutorial videos though! Here's my Youtube channel - let me know if there's any specific stuff you'd like to see me cover!

Now onto actual WiP stuff! XD Unfortunately because of commission work, I haven't had much time to work on my own stuff, but here's my progress since last post:

My converted chaplain from the BaC box! He's almost finished, I just need to do some freehand on his cloak. The glaive blade could be better but I ran out of craps to give. XD

I'm also experimenting with how I want to paint the new Rubricae! This is the only one I've done anything with so far though - the blue is done pretty much entirely with drybrushing, so it's pretty quick and easy!

I haven't done much with the gold or anything else yet, but let me know what you think so far!
