@Childe, no this building isn't any particular one from the game, just a mix of the general styles.
@dstein, galorn's right it is mesh I salvaged from the air filter in our broken stove top fan. (it broke before I salvaged =D) And yeah I think its galvanized.
@josh, Cheers josh =D
@Orlanth, Sorry buddy, I guess your praise will have to wait a while, I've got plenty of other things I'm planning before supermutants =)
Automatically Appended Next Post: lol dammit didn't realise you guys had gone on to a whole other page,
BTW just letting you know that I don't have the super mutant figure, it belongs to dsteingass, so you have to ask him about painting it =)
cool spartan!!! i like the fact that you´ve cut up the trays and how you stabilized those parts... the biscuit factory is truning out into a really good looking thing^^
Really nice use of, otherwise, overlooked materials!
... Looks like Willy Wonka is going to have to contend with your radioactive biscuits, along with their unique 'glow in the dark' feature! Moving swiftly on, do you foresee any more miniatures in the pipeline?
But, whatever the next project, I am eager to see it grow!
Vik - They're Anvil Industrys if I'm not mistaken...they're doing some great lines in resin Rifles and SMGs ATM with cool accessories like those drum mags and chain bayonets etc.
Actually vik they are from a chapterhouse studios gun.
The right model has most of the gun, with the nozzle replaced. And for the one in the middle I removed the drum from another gun, and placed it on his combat shotgun.

=) cheers guys
Really enjoyed looking through your work. I'm a big fan of interesting re-poses and yours are some of the best I've seen - thank you for sharing!
Ghost, that glowing one hasn't changed at all yet, got caught up with other pieces. I will resume it when inspiration reignites =D
Vik, all the paints are citadel paints. Mechrite red was used as a base in all the crevices, and the main carapace was painted with mixes of tallarn flesh graveyard earth and dheneb stone.
It was washed with earthshade at one point, and purple was lightly flecked over areas near joints.
Finally thinned blood red was washed in crevices, and used to pick out eyes and teeth.

Two Spartan wrote: Yea that comes in the FO3 brotherhood of steel add on which is in the GOTY edition. Its a really good add-on raises the level cap to 30!
Lol guys I already answered the puppies question ^ and yeah broken steel is the name of the DLC
I guess that means my terrain is eye catching enough for you to ignore what i write
Yeah that would be pretty cool dave. The most versatile piece would be the toilet, in ruined houses, ruined office buildings and in outhouses.
Not sure how often sinks and urinals would get used unless you are making a bathroom complex.
I found that people already do make toilet miniatures already.
I personally have no need for mini toilets in the near future.
And RW I made them with foam board and liquid greenstuff:
Thanks TS! But they can't flush without a tank! Mine will have a tank and an optional pipe, so you can make two styles of toilet with the same kit! Tank attached, or tank separate!
Sinks an Urinals will really just be for aesthetic purposes, you could always make a house rule that drinking from a toilet restores a wound or something but gives you 2 rad tokens or something, etc.
LOL...This isn't the cult of Atom building, the one where you have to irradiate yourself to open the door and then down below there is the Champion of Atom and the old lady running the bottling operation is it?
I need to replay, I followed the main quest line and didn't even explore most of the northern map as much as I wanted to. After you beat the main questline and come back for the DLC, there really isn't much reason to explore there.
well i have some nasty crahses still... thus i didn´t want to start again... but as i am bored atm with my current game... played it like a zillion times all over...( silent storm sentinels for your information ) i likely will start anew...
Yeah the place I am basing it off is Dickerson Tabernacle Chapel . The real chapel has a loft thing on the roof, instead of a cross, but the cross was much easier to make =)
Thanks so much everyone, really appreciate the feedback, I knew Jake's bottles would be a hit =)
@TheLionOfTheForest, Thanks buddy sure you can! And yeah I didn't want to over soil them, I had them dirtier but cleaned them up a bit, because this is more of a good guy hideout and their beds shouldn't be too nasty.
@Dave that'd be really cool, I have some pics but I only have fallout on my xbox, so they are pictures of a TV screen =S
Yeah I left the tower off because I didn't put much of a roof on it.
And as for whats up next, I have a few plans in motion but some might not finish for a while and so I don't want to tease you with no reward But more regulators is probably soonest
Is that the church on the way to Vault 112? I think I found it last night by accident... walked round the corner and five raiders set on me after one was setting a bloke on fire :S
His left hand originally was open and looked cool but the plastic was pretty mangled so I decided to replace it, with a hand holding orders from the Cadian Command Set. Which I painted to look like a bounty notice.
The hand and the bounty are a little big, but I think it close enough in scale.
But if your not up to that level yet, and you don't want to kill the sheriff of megaton, but do want to look cool, its easy to be bad for a bit, get their clothes then go good again =)
Or you can also let Mr. Burke kill the sherriff before you kill Burke to get his clothes too. His son will later give you the key to the house in Megaton.
Thanks guys these sculpts are really cool and were fun to paint, I thought this next guy had a cool pose:
Also I started working on a deathclaw! Converted from the demon prince plastic kit:
This guy will be a lot beefier than in game, but he will match my beefy raiders =D
that shot gunner is very good looking! and i like that pose too!
as for the death claw... well much needed really as you can´t go any more fallout without these! there are essential... will you do a bay one too? maybe from an ork or possibly a skaven base then...
Thanks people =) will post more deathclaw work soon
Vik, no wont make any babies, I want these guys to be scary! I would probably try to convert another deathclaw from a different base model instead.
I finished the last regulator:
I removed the bag he was holding and also attempted to remove his manhood
I thought adding some chest and a headswap was enough to make the model look female, a friend however thinks it still looks too manly. What do you think?
It's the lack of hips. That's something a lot of people don't think about when modeling, is that the Male form is more top-heavy due to broader shoulders, while the Female form is more bottom heavy due to wider hips.
It looks fine to me. look for some stills from cowboys and aliens, Quick and the dead... etc. the duster largely hides the hips. unless your going for a "marvell" style chick...
Anvildude, thanks man yeah that's what my friend thought, I slighty filed down the shoulders but i didn't do to much. She is just a strong broad shouldered woman =)
Hurry! press V, go to VATS, target stinger, fire!, tab, take JET, repeat! That's awesome dude! I've got that same Hasslefree mini, and I intend to do the exact same thing with him, make him into a Vault Dweller.

by the way dave... your awesome recent works aside... i have noticed that you have by far more evil characters and minis of fallout gathered in your collections than any good ones at all!!! when will you go down the lonesome wanderer road and give us some decent looking vault minis?
Cheers everybody!
Thanks ginger and fox =) glad to hear it!
Here is an update on the deathclaw:
This shows the pose my buddy will be in, imagine him with no armour or weapon and a different head.
As there is no right arm with an open hand, I have had to hack up the axe hand and will have to model the individual fingers, with wire and green stuff.
One finger down!
I am very impressed by all of your work in this thread. One thing I have to ask, is where the super mutant mini came from. I'm thinking of making a Fantasy Ogre Kingdoms army of Super Mutants - Super Mutants with nail boards and fire hydrants on posts for the regular Ogres, Super-Sledge-wielding Ironguts, and Leadbelchers with Rock-It Launchers (one of them will be launching a teddy bear!).
Minor deviation from the norm, a model not inspired by fallout, just thought she was cool.
Although she can still be some kind of post apocalyptic assassin using poisoned arrows as her calling card, what do you think?
She could be and she look fine, but too DE-ish imo. I would suggest to cut&change the bow to look more like modern sport bows and somehow change the eldar plating towards more rostapoc/junky if it wasn't painted =) The overall action pose is great!
She reminded me of Mara Jade, Luke Skywalker's wife in the Star Wars (post ep.6) novels. Or maybe Drizzt's girlfriend whose name completely escapes me at the moment.
Thanks Cave, glad you like. I'm currently cutting up foam to make a mini outcrop of rocks inspired by your terrain. So cheers for that too =)
And thats awesome Sixkilla, I don't know that much about the expanded universe, glad she fits the look!
Dude that's gonna be so awesome. That was always one of my favorite aspects of fallout, the savage wilderness bit. Especially if it was buildings and such being reclaimed by nature.
And Cave don't get too excited it really is pretty small:
But I agree that the wilderness is the coolest part. I realised that I haven't done much vegetation on my terrain, so I will be testing out some techniques to get the overgrown look, without making it look lush and green.
Contrastingly I will be modeling my Mines of Moria terrain (that I've had for over a year) to be an above ground ancient dwarven ruin, that has been engulfed by the surrounding forest.
I was inspired to begin this by entering in this dakka community contest:
[
I am a great fan of LOTR setting in terms of style and art. Both the movies team and guys from Turbine did an awesome job on the visuals in their own way. I bet you can find lots of inspiration there if you haven't already

caddie brie. love me some R.A. Salvatore. Ever read the crimson shadow trilogy? might be some of his best
Yo I think the the construction is completed on this guy:
Anyone got ideas for a cool base? He doesn't need to be raised up at all i think. So far I just have rocks a skull and some knocked down fence he is standing on.
Thanks ghost, Dr H, storag, dave and monkey =)
No fallout this update tho, Forests of Moria terrain!
First modular wall to connect the pillars:
And my first attempt to create a tree, which will be encroaching on a crumbling wall:
I used the twisted wire technique, and used papier mache to make the bulk.
first attempt at a tree?!? Wow this is the best first attempt I've ever seen... its one of the best attempts period, it actually looks like a tree and not wire, good job spartan
Agreed, the tree is great, but paper mache seems like a PITA, I know LGS works (but can get expensive)- have you thought of just using modelling putty? Squadron green or white would cure to workable in 30 mins or so.
How will you make all the gnarly old wood patterns on its trunck? I think those should really be in 3D IMHO just painting them on won't quite cut it...get it...*cut it*...TREE?!...Hoho oh lord, what a joker! I scare myself so times!
Haha good idea deciever, might not add a victim but some caps or a cola might help to link it to the fallout universe
Thanks RW =) I really thought it would be hard but with a bunch of garden wire you can just twist and the shape of a tree is pretty simple to make.
Ghost i have been struggling to find a way to model the knobbly bark texture. I have started to use toilet paper, paper-mache which makes lots of little ridges and folds, If I can get them to be mostly parallel with the trunk or branches i think I will have the texture I need, because I agree it would be extremely hard to get a good looking effect just using paint.
Dave thats a good idea, might try putty next time, (I don't currently have any). Also I didn't realise what PITA stood for, so I looked it up in wiki which linked me to this page
Thanks Dark Apostle =)
I had thought of robots but I couldn't find components to make them out of easily. There are nice Brother Vinni models, but I like converting.
AWESOME work on the Deathclaw, sir. The slaves are very characterful too and I like your recent terrain work.
I lurk here a great deal but I rob you of your well deserved comments - so good stuff! Keep it up, it is making me dither about whether to update my logs with random gangers!
yeah man... those slaves are awesome looking... specially the last one...any chance you could spoil us with some WIP of these three? the chains on the middle one...from what set are these?
Thanks Jihad I appreciate your comment =) I know I often lurk to much as well. And hell yeah add some random gangers for spice every once in a while =)
Also cheers RW and Vik,
I only have this WIP pic of the slaves. They are mostly a mix of flagellant and zombie parts, the chains are from the flagellant set.
Also while I'm here might as well show how I've been distracted from Fallout minis. Repainting and remodeling miniatures from my early hobby days.
First up are Kroot. These are just a sample to show the quality of the old paint job.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Kroot!...That's what that paint scheme sings to me!...xD...They're awesome looking by the way! Subbed! Loving what you're doing with your minis!
Hahaha didn't think that guy would interest anyone. The arm which is holding the back sword is from the catachan troops sprue, and the front sword is from the catachan command sprue.
Take a look at the first page all my minis were just kit bashed without the use of any green stuff. You can have lots of fun converting with just mashing 2 sets together like the catachan and chaos marauders.
Also I hadn't used green stuff at the start of this extended project but slowly with more use it gets easier. The same applies for painting.
I would say a lack of confidence in your own painting and converting skills would be a perfect reason FOR starting a conversion project. You will continuously improve and have a lot of fun along the way =)
Also thanks so much for looking through my thread =)
i have just read this entire blog from page one and must say well done sir! i also am a massive fan of fallout 3 and recently have been playing it again. one question, would you ever attempt hellfire armour? i think it looks so brutal and menacing!
uk_crow wrote: i have just read this entire blog from page one and must say well done sir! i also am a massive fan of fallout 3 and recently have been playing it again. one question, would you ever attempt hellfire armour? i think it looks so brutal and menacing!
The Bauhaus from the relaunch of WarZone might make a good basis for an Enclave conversion.
This makes me sad, just don't like it? or never played it?
I only played FO3, not New Vegas. I just didn't get on with a few things in it. I can see it has it's merits though and I think it's just personal preference. I really liked STALKER and Borderlands, a darker post-apocalypse and a brighter post apocalypse respectively.
I think you either love or hate FO:3, it was my introduction to the Fallout series, so I love it. New Vegas seems strange to me because I haven't played 1&2. It's a shame Bruticus, I'd like to see your terrain interpretations of some of FO:3's landmarks and buildings, but If you're not into it...
Oh my sweet Lord Emprah! This blog was a joy to read! As a fan of both Fallout 1 and 2 and even a bigger fan of Fallout 3 (I still can't believe I spent around 150 hours in just one char), your work has been nothing short of amazing. The first post, the brotherhood of steel was a bit meh, since they still looked a lot like Space Marines. Don't get me wrong, I still thought they were very good, just not very Fallout. But ever since then, I have been blown away with the quality of every single mini and how much they resemble the ones in-game.
I do hope you use them to play some skirmish games. With miniatures like these, it's almost a crime not to.
Keep up the great work!
P.S: Will you consider another Brotherhood of Steel attempt? They are such big symbols in the Fallout universe, I think you could create even better ones now!
Thanks TDL for the comment =)
I agree and think the BoS might need a redo sometime in the future, I have some ideas for modding the helmets but I have no idea on how to do the shoulderpads easily. Anyone got any ideas?
Its funny Cave how long its been for me too, I haven't played the game in ages, I guess I should for inspiration. Call it homework =D
Thanks Vik for the link thread full of awesome Spartan great stuff love the use of different parts and box sets subbed so much to say don't know where to start will do later
Could your cousin have meant a zombie with a flaming skull as his head?
I like your painting, and the miniatures too! I'm deciding on whether I should buy pirate-esque miniatures to paint and I think after looking at yours, I will!
Also, your OSL is really nice, but perhaps the glow from the source could be highlighted to white to make it even brighter?
Mate haven't been "on" for a while but that Glowing One is awesome, so nicely done...was kinda expecting a bright green zombie but the subtleness of the glow you've used there is spot on!
Bit of a random mini today, I decided to make a Yoda-like mini for a Starwars roleplaying game. He turned out looking like a grumpy shopkeeper so he is a bit of a cross between Yoda and that flying alien junk trader from episode 1 Watto. Thus his name Yaddo!
He will be painted with green skin.
He is made from GW parts apart from his head which is a major conversion from this mantic ghoul head:
cool!... that yoda is quite convincing... the face redo of him is quite substantial and very good looking...considering what you worked with it is almost unrecognizable...
Cheers vik!
I was surprised at how easy it is to use green stuff if you do stuff step by step, I did his mouth, cheeks, nose and each ear on separate days so that I wouldn't ruin the sculpting.
@LDD Great! Glad he looks like a master of kung-fu, I was going for that, a character that could turn into a wise mentor that's a little badass but you don't know it yet!
Yes, he has the look of the wise, I like the splash of red just makes it pop without being distracting and the cold eyes are a good idea.
You should build a padawan for him, just to torment and break for fun.
Cheers vik!

Anyway here he is painted:
Thanks for looking =)
now that is a nice looking fella!
and as for the GS work... I KNOW it is the right thing to do this step by step...drawn over a couple days... but every time i start i want to get something DONE...which is a total dumb idea with GS... but when i start something in my mind switches off... and this is mostly my patience...
WHAT THE HELL POSE AWSOME COLOUR PALLET SPOT ON AND THE LIGHTSABER ROCKS
I gather the light sauce is a necron bit the arm pose is cool as hell and you need to add some stuff floating in the air now
Legs Cadian HQ set
Head Wood elves
Arms Militia I think or Empire archers set with hands alteration
Torso Catachan HQ set with a little scalpel carving around the neck Lightsaber Necron weapon pulse thing and PC tubing
found no other bare head that comes close to your idea... tho i think using eldar heads would be a good idea... as maul is way shorter that the standard force user...except yoda of course^^
when look for the eldar head these came up too... and i agree the facial expressions are highly good looking for that purpose... they have the inbuilt evil nastiness that´s needed for a sith ...
They are some of the coolest Eldar models I have to agree although not a fan of the cone heads either, using the wood elves heads again I see nice idea
Some great work in here. I've just read the whole thread. Loving the F3 stuff especially. Brought back memories! I need to try and recover my saves from a dead HDD - I can't see myself starting again from scratch...
Hey guys I wanted to make some alternative to the GW standard striking scorpion miniatures.
I'm not sure how I feel about this first test guy. He turned out a bit too pristine and high tech than what I was hoping for.
I could fill in the chest design maybe?
I think I'll try painting him and see how it turns out.
Does anyone have ideas to make this guy look a little more low tech? Wires around the helmet? Rivets?
A guy that I AM happy with so far is this little sith-man:
Thanks for checking this out, and for any ideas you provide =)
if you add rivets to the fella... then these need to be of the tinest sort... i like the model though...his gun looks rather like a MP/ UZI mix... intresting... will keep that look in mind for one day future gangers of mine...
and yon sith lord looks very cool... do you keep the collar on him or will this be filed off?
For the sith guy yeah I think keeping the collar will be the simplest thing to do, ill trim that earing thing tho i think.
That's a good idea with the gun I hadn't even thought of that, switch the front part and use a knife to make the rest more square and you got an imperial Uzi!
