Hi peeps, really love the game fallout 3 and so decided to try and make some of the characters from it. Simple as that I started a project log for this about 2 years ago, but after 2 posts I had nothing left due to working slowly. So now since then I've got a lot more done, so I'll slowly reveal bits of the project until I get up to the present day. And I might even continue in real time! But probably not because the breaks between updates will get very long
So the first few models I made up were, Brotherhood of Steel Paladins made from space marines with hacked up old Dark Eldar torsos as shoulder pads:
I definitely think you have the right idea, but the helmets really really need to change. They're too Iconic for Space Marines to represent anything else. They may start a good base for modification, but if you have some Chaos SM heads that might be a better route to take in your modifications.
The shoulderpads look good, you might want to try taking the handles off of a Tank sprue or an ammo box and attaching them to the shoulderpads, since the Brotherhood have those weird handles on their shoulders.
Yeah I know they look a lot like space marines, I was more going for an inspired-by idea than, strictly correct. I guess I should just call it post apocalyptic 40k
Ok with the other 4 space marine models, I made 3 outcast brotherhood, Casdin with ripper, Morgan with laser pistol and Rockfowl (not pictured) with a minigun.
The fourth i converted into Ashur. King of the Pit.
Hope you enjoy, will post up pics of them painted soon
I'm a huge fan of the game...you can kinda see its inspiration in some of my mutants...and I really like what you've done here mate, great attention to detail! I'd add a little bit more rust/dirt too them m'self, its pretty dirty out there in the DC Wastes
@ghostflame good idea, I didn't think of putting dirt on these guys when i painted them, I might leave rust off brotherhood though just because all of my other minis will be so dirty, these guys will be a little bit more advanced and act as a contrast.
Here are some shots of the outcast brotherhood and Ashur, much more pleased with these guys but realised they dont have much dirt on them either. Will upload more once everybodty is nice and dirty.
Hope you guys like
Automatically Appended Next Post: Also lol culsander, imagined a crazy brother checking his hourglass with no sand in it, then sitting in front of a smashed TV hahah
Aw I really like the BOS Outcasts mate, especially the minigunner and you've gotten the tribal power armour looking great on Ashur, the barmin skull is spot on! Well done.
Have you thought about making some Enclave for them to fight? The chaos space marine head idea people have mentioned here would fit them great after a bit of reworking.
Those guys look great, and i think that the SM helmet is similiar enough to the power armour from fallout that it doesnt really make a difference in my mind.
Cheers ghostflame, I have thought of making enclave but havn't found anything I could make them out of yet, I thought chaos marines too, with dark elf heads modified, but I couldnt see a way to make it work, so until i find a way, these guys will be fighting raiders, ghouls and talon company, which are much easier and fun to make. But yeah if there's any ideas you have feel free to let me know
Anyway here's the brotherhood with some dust:
Didn't really put much on cause I was scared to ruin them I think for better weathered effects I should have planned them from start. But I'm gonna leave these boys as is.
Here are some more pics of the outcasts, named and dusted
And ashur named
Next up I'll put up some raiders I put together
Cheers
Two Spartan wrote:Here's how far i got with a enclave armour, I would also add the weird ear shapes to side of helmet and shave down the top.
Thats pretty cool, I like the use of the IG Command gas mask there. I'm not sure I can tell if this model works yet or not, think I'd have to see the whole thing built first to judge but good start for sure.
Well I'm not really in with any gaming community but if I was going to play with some non warhammer friends I would use them in some necromunda campaign, just little skirmishes, I'm not making an army, just little gangs i guess.
So I would sorta tweak the stats to my liking and in an effort to make the sides fair.
But at the moment just making them for the fun of it
Hey guys these are the first raiders I did, not really pleased bout the paint jobs, but they were really fun to make, getting the severed hand on the belt, sanding down a SM shoulderpad to give the welders mask, hope you guys like:
The paint job looks good too from here but if you're unhappy maybe try adding some faded tattoos, more blood 'n' gore or flick some brightly coloured paint on them in random places like they've been out spray painting their turf?
Looks really cool. I think Fallout 3 is one of the best games ever, and a Fallout themed army would be awesome! Unfortunately I agree with others here about the helmets, I guess it's too late to change. But all your other work looks so good, it doesn't look like it would have been beyond your skill to mod the space marine out of those helms. Looking good no matter.
Hmmmm....maybe it'd be goodl to take a Mark 7 helmet with the "camera" ove rone of the "ears", cut it in half down the middle (into left and right halves), and glue the half with the "camera" to half of a Mark 6 ("Beaky") helmet to try and emulate the helmet for the Brotherhood?
It has genuinely never occurred to me that there might be some people out there that didn't like Fallout 3?!
I had thought its total awesomeness was a commonly accepted truth, like the Earth being round...Fallout 2 was a classic, no doubt, but I remember even back then thinking "These graphics are a bit crappy" and New Vegas, well only played about half of it before moving on to other things so can't really judge, but it didn't have the 'wow' factor for me, its gotta be all out 3!
Ghostflame wrote:

I really should have quantified that statement; fallout 3 really didn't feel like a fallout game. i was disappointed and then was taken aback at the how different the gameplay was; so overall it left a bad impression. New vegas wasn't that bad; reminded me of tactics.
As for the GOTY statement, i legitimately had no idea it was, but it doesn't change the fact i thought it was bad.
Joetaco wrote:i was disappointed and then was taken aback at the how different the gameplay was; so overall it left a bad impression.
Thats a fair point mate, (I never played tatics or BOS) it was a massive jump from the other titles, pretty FPS heavy for a RPG and such but it will always be high up on my 'all-time greats' list...that and Mass Effect made me buy my Xbox360 and get back into video games...I wasn't all that bothered 'till they came out.
HAHAHA knew there would be a fallout original vs new fight eventually.
Sorry Joetaco but I'm not really a fallout fan, I'm really only a console RPG fan, I loved KOTOR 1, Skyrim, and Fallout 3. I've checked out the original games and wasn't interested, cause not my type, guess its the same effect that 3 had on you. I didn't even really like New Vegas, too much development and weird factions. I like how the look of fallout is like the bombs dropped around 20 years ago not 200, even though that's the actual background.
So yeah I pretty much love it for the reasons you hate it XD
Anyway thanks to everyone for the comments! So glad you guys like them, and yeah sorry not changing the helmets, but some of the ideas sound really good, eventually I might make some more suits mark 2, with a closer look. And I'd love to see anyones models if someone does a one-off suit.
Ok so I made some Raider barricades, just for some filler terrain. Enjoy
I want to paint some warning or symbol on the sign, probably in red paint or blood but i have no idea of what to do. Don't think their multi-coloured tags would look that good and I don't want any swear words on it either. I was thinking like atomic but that's not really raider.
Really inspired, I love them! Great use of the marauder parts for raiders, they work really well. The barricades are a genius stroke too - simple, look easy to make, but ace terrain and so thematic.
I played through a different game called RAGE recently, and a lot of their gangs have some nice, easy to adapt graffiti that you might like. I've posted a few you might be interested in: (Sorry if they're a little dark)
Spoiler:
I liked the little skeleton - maybe planning on using this one myself!
A few different ones here
Apologies if that's not the kind of thing you're after. Just thought it might be a little inspiration!
@galorn, I've begun to think I won't put any writing on the sign, as it will seem childish (especially the way im sure I'll paint it) and some things are said stronger with no words. But yeah I looked at some fiend motifs like a bullseye, or cow skull, or shape of a hide.
@scarper Cheers for the comments, and thanks for the pics, exactly the kinda inspiration I was hoping for, I like the skeleton the best too.
Actually on looking at model i think painting a stylised cow/brahmin skull would look good and fit in the space well.
Ok until further notice thats the plan.
Will be a while before you see it though, I'm going away over easter. Sooo..
HAPPY EARLY EASTER
Great Stuff Man! I'm doing some Fallout Stuff myself! Subbed and looking forward to more!
FO:3 is not supposed to feel like the turn-based Fallouts, so that is why it doesn't to some people. They are making comparisons in their heads that are not meant to be in the first place. In fact, the recipe of mixing FPS and RPG gaming elements works so well, that it is now being utilized for many other games.
And thanks dsteingass i have seen your stuff aswell, really fantastic nuka machine, all of your terrain in fact quite inspiring
So here's the sign painted now, decided on red cow skull. Think it fits in with the raiders alright. Might start putting tattoos on new raiders i make.
I also ordered some zombies from eureka miniatures, to act as ghouls. Found the sculpts pretty average, more anatomically correct than the warhammer zombie horde maybe, but some of the faces were pretty poor.
Anyway it is nice to have loads of ghouls so these were quick and fun to make and paint.
Also the people at eureka were really nice, i also ordered 2 zombies in toxic barrels out of a possible 6 types $2.95 AUD each figure and they gave me 2 of each type, so 12 in total! Aswell as another free 28mm figure from their zombie containment team of a person kneeling with a RPG.
And lastly this miniature I had in mind almost from the start of this project. Chinese stealth suit wielding a perforator and shock sword!
they look nice! i like the choice of the cow skull, i agree it works well.. and same with the tats, they would give them a bit more character, weather it be more skulls or even some cool vodoo style painting would look nice
Spot on stealth suit mate! Really nice work...Shock sword could benefit from a bit of subtle blue lightening effect? Its tricky to do but could look awesome. Check out the powersword painted by Winterdyne below.
Spoiler:
EDIT - Sorry mate just noticed you do have some on there (Its really bright outside this morning, couldn't see pic properly on my monitor)
Hahah thats all good, yeah it doesn't show up that well because the sword is a light silver aswell, winterdyne's made it really pop by doing black base.
But I'm trying to save up to go to Hong Kong and I've still got plenty of unpainted unassembled projects :\ so will be a while before that comes to pass.
Next tho i still have more raiders, ghouls, regulators, talon company and some characters
Here are some Talon Company that I've put together, not much conversion work on these guys cause the Cadian Shock Troopers work.
Even as I put these up I felt i didn't like the helmeted head on the rifle guy so ripped that off and will replace. And had some inspiration to give the commander spiky shoulder pads, like those on the metal armour worn by Commander Jabsco.
And some painted ones. Luckily the ones I'm happy with
Also some generic terrain:
Made using rocks,
twigs,
granny grate and Warhammer tank traps
Being brutally honest here dude, I'm just not feeling the talon boys as much as the others you've made so far, who have all been spot on to me...I'm not sure why this is coz they do look good, maybe I just can't get past the IG parts?
However I do really love the way you've sanded down one of the wings from their IG badges to make the "Talon" symbol...simple but effective, well done!
Thats ok Ghostflame they aren't as interesting as the other stuff I've made. Cheers on the CC
And thanks stein, I thought the granny grate was a little thick.
Our oven fan broke recently and I scavenged some mesh filter, so thinking of using that once I figure how to get all the grease off it and not cut myself on it.
Great paintjobs! The boss in particular has attitude in spades. Love the shortened ripper, and the shoulderpads are inspired. Your last shot is a little out of focus though! They're still recognisably Cadian, but I think you've done a lot to bring em through to Talon company. Nice one!
Bit of a weird one, but I'd love to know how you do your basing - it's really natural looking wasteland sand, which I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to do for a while.
Automatically Appended Next Post: p.s. Have you seen these, coming out soon from Crooked Dice?
Spoiler:
Thought they might remind you of a particular batch of Fallout beasties
Hey thanks Scarper really glad you like the minis : )
The bases took me a bit of experimentation to get the way I wanted but i finally came to this method:
Basecoat of 70:30 (very approximate, changes each mini) Scorched brown : Charadon Granite
Layer over with Graveyard Earth (leaving base in crevices)
Dry brush with 50:50 (again approx) Graveyard Earth and Deneb Stone (I use this to brush over the mini's shoes and pants)
Then paint side of base with Graveyard Earth
Don't have any of the new paints but it looks like they've got plenty of alternatives.
I'd suggest Dryad Bark for base
Steel Legion Drab or Baneblade Brown for layer
and Rakarth Flesh or Longbeard Grey to mix with layer to drybrush
Automatically Appended Next Post: Also thanks for the Mirelurk idea : )
I think those mini's look a little humanoid though. More crab troll rather than just mutated crab. I'll probably go for the crocodile mini's that I mentioned before.
Hey hey here's some miniatures from Hasselfree's Adventurers Range:
Raider teen, Vault Dweller and Mister Tenpenny
Vault dweller has a really compact, wristwatch pipboy.
I also made Boone from Fallout New Vegas
And this guy who is a figment of my imagination. I could only think of the name surgeon at the moment, lemme know what you think his name should be.
Thats a ghoul head in his hand, he's some crazed ghoul hunter/mercenary.
Pre-war background like Boone, just dealt with it in a different way.
Auto-Axe! The Pitt was def my fav add-on. Spartan check this monster out if you haven't seen him!
Spoiler:
My forum chum Baiyuan made this awesome guy, an ore-mining Ogryn for his Necromunda games...(this is not the best pic he's put up on his gallery but you can see the 'cutter' weapon really well)
What I found most impressive about this was though he's a Fallout 3 fan too he hadn't actually played The Pitt yet and had made this massive Auto-Axe like weapon from pure Imagination alone and its spot-on and badass!
Wow is that made out of a motorbike? I think I might've seen this a while ago but forgotten, or hadn't seen it finished yet.
I guess I could make one out of a big gun of some type, hollowed out like that with a smaller saw. Thanks ghost (lol was gonna shorten your name to gf then thought no) and thanks to Baiyuan
Wow, some nice updates, I was hoping you updated soon. I like the Talon Company. You should do the regulators next Necromunda Delaque models with some headswaps should do the trick.
The hasslefree guys are great! I've got the punk and the Lois clone, and I'd never have thought of using them for Fallout - they work fantastically. Tenpenny looks the part, and is really well painted too, but that particular mini will always be Dirty Harry to me (sorry!). That said, he's a great match, so kudos there!
The surgeon is maybe my favourite though - just love the idea of that enormous axe as a precision surgical instrument. Ace work all round - keep it up
The lady and 'Bernard' are hasselfree miniatures I got with the others. And the middle is Jericho from Necromunda.
I made these a while ago, but hadn't posted yet.
Only modifications I made:
I think I will call her Trinity =)
Yeah Ghost, I've got some big tau weapons that I can add a saw on, but now looking at what I've got unfinished I might wait on this idea till the other one's are finished so I can make some room =D
Thanks Scrazza, I might use that idea to add more, if i can find those models that is.
Cheers Scarper, yea HF are great, its really fun seeing how people interpret the same mini =)
Fantastic work with the hasslefree gear, yet again! More great minis I wouldn't even have considered using in this setting, but they really work.
Kal Jericho's always been one of my favourite minis GW has ever put out, so great job doing him justice too!
I never thought they really fleshed out the regulators enough in FOIII - maybe some questlines or something would have gone down well? They just seemed like kind of token 2D 'good guys' to me. Your stuff's got way more personality than they gave em in game
Thanks Domm and wow Ghostflame those black scorpion outlaws are perfect, no need to change them at all! Even though that is half the fun, these are good enough as is. =)
Don't know the price though the site looks like its still going through maintenance.
And reaper has some fantastic stuff too, but its a bit expensive for single minis.
I remember him! You had to go to that specific locked door in the sewer under the central station! He's dead on: right down to the codpiece. SO SKILLED
What a characterful mini - Charon looks great! I had mixed feelings about his enormous shoulder in your WiP shot, but the shoulder pads really carry it. Have you considered dotting his pupil though? Could be a nice touch. He looks like he means business anyway, just like he should!
Scabbs is ace too - he comes with Kal Jericho right? He's a nice addition, and the colours came out really well.
Scarper, yea he comes with Kal Jericho. I really only wanted Jericho but Scabs turned out to be a really nice model to paint.
And I've always been scared of dotting eyes, seem to never get them directly in middle and make the mini look cross-eyed or crazy, I'll give it a shot though. Should be easy enough to fix if i don't like it. Thanks for the idea
Fantastic! He looks great in the close up shot - I can't believe the detail you got into his face - did you actually do the exposed eye muscles around the socket?
Thanks Ghostflame I think I agree with you, just shows how practice helps.
And hahah baxta I've been thinking of deathclaws from the start but not sure if my modeling skills are up to it. The easiest idea I had was to use this guy:
hmmmm... you have a point there... and i never get the hang of to do the bad boy game... played the pitt recently and the main quest left me all wound up as i couldn´t even then be the good guy anymore as even this would make me a bad guy... for those that have played that DLC they will know why...
I hated being used so badly by the 'good guys'! Its really rare in a videogame to have such a 'gray' decision - you just know Wernher is going to be just as much of a bastard as Ashur if he get's the chance or the power, which the baby would totally grant him! Such a tough choice to make...
New ghouls look great, by the way! I'm personally more of a fan of the flesh-tones rather than green-tinged, but I realise with zombies you decay to taste
scarper...my thoughts exactly... and ghostflame... yep... i felt totally pissed off rather^^
at first i tried my usual methode... storm in guns ablaze and kill anyone that sounds remotly like a slaver... but they hit me to a bloddy pulp so i had to move with the story...only that the story didn´t give me the choices i liked^^
The whole Tenpenny Tower Questline in the vanilla game was grey too! You are better off blowing roy Phillips head off when you first meet him and take the karma hit if playing a good guy, otherwise all you end up with is less vendors because Roy will kill them or you will kick them out with speech.
well often i just pull the trigger before asking some questions anyways...what´s the point in living in post apoc world when you can´t have the old wild west feeling of you being the epitome of doing the right job...? so when i see awful and bad... i just pop some heads^^ and have a nuka cola afterwards^^ really they should have implemented a finishing line when killing off baddies like..."made my day..."
i think my favorite thing about Fallout is that i laugh whenever i hear 3dog talk.. because 3dog was the name of the centipeide dog in the human centipeide... one of the worst movies ever made
Hahah thanks AnUnearthlyChilde, I'd pefer people stumble across my work rather than have me advertise it.
Where would the surprise be then? ;D
Also sorry guys no updates for a little bit. Just turned 21 on 23rd, and some friends are also this weekend, so have been and will be partying for a tiny bit.
This is awesome, consider me subscribed. Could you do the power armor you get we you beat the pit in 3, that would awesome and maybe some legion guys would be cool too.
Reminds me of the time i accidentally started mothership zeta when i discovered the site. As i'm being sucked away, screaming for help, Fawkes just stands there and says "The air smells... Dangerous..." No sh*t sherlock.
I'd also like to see Sergent RL-3, after all, i do love making some other poor bastard die for his country.
Yeah I've seen the Brother Vinnies! Valhallan42nd, they're really awesome! I like converting my own stuff tho so probably wont pick any up. Gangland looks rad too.
Hahah Stein I can put that off for a moment as theres no toilets in the chapel, but your right Childe I definitely need some ammo crates and boxes. I'll have an internet search but do you guys know any good retailers?
that ruined church will be a cool thing to see develop here!...and yeah... i have to chime in with the others... we need toilets and sinks... the creators of the game are such bloody perverts in that regard^^ lol
lol... sinks and toilets... minature needs for your tabletop... for those too posh to take a leak against a tree... now in chrome and stained white porcelan too
Heres a small update, showing how I'm making the walls for the chapel
Paddle-pop sitcks glued to a piece of thin cardboard, that's cut out to the appropriate size.
Looks good dude...The chapel reminds me of that bit in the game where you kill the dude for that half decent sniper rifle...memory fails me...had a couple of beers too...and only few hours sleep haha you know the bit I mean!
Ghostflame wrote:Looks good dude...The chapel reminds me of that bit in the game where you kill the dude for that half decent sniper rifle...memory fails me...had a couple of beers too...and only few hours sleep haha you know the bit I mean!
Quick update on the chapel. Moving slowly but moving.
The gaps where the walls meet the beams wont be so big as they were just kept together with blu-tack not quite in the right position. I do anticipate some slight gaps, but shouldn't be too bad, and its an old building so it is expected anyway.
my only issue is the cross at the top... just two length of wood nailed together won´t do the trick i am afraid... that you should redo if i was you... i would cut the whole cross from one piece of PC and then make some grooves for the joined boards...
Oh yeah that's just chucked up there for the moment to see what it will look like. I'm gonna do the roof first and see how the cross can fit into that.
I bought these dogs from Eureka miniatures to be raider guard dogs. They come in a pack of 4 with a dog handler, that would fit in with a Warhammer Empire army.
Had to extend one of the bases to fit the bounding dog but otherwise they fit great.
I am shocked, nay, APPALLED, to see that you didn't paint up a Glowing One to go with that ghoul group photo. Think of all the neon paints, of all the SCORPION GREEN (of which there is not enough of in this world), that it would give you the opportunity to use!
Dude, your ghouls look great! But you should have left out one of the dogs.... you know, "one dog is too low, and two aint enough, so I present you --- THREEEEE Dog!"
Your models really make me want to play Fallout 3 again.....
Sorry guys, but as a really devote fallout fan, I must nitpick..
shasolenzabi wrote:Yeah, dogmeat looks like a normal German Shepherd, the Raider dogs look,,wel diseased.
Dogmeat is an australian cattle dog, inspired by the Mad Max movies, where Max had an australian cattle dog.
MrMerlin wrote:Dude, your ghouls look great! But you should have left out one of the dogs.... you know, "one dog is too low, and two aint enough, so I present you --- THREEEEE Dog!"

The first two statements are reversed, "one dog aint enough, and two is too low..." is the line.
Sorry to nag... But in other news, Stocks are up, unemplyment is down, and the UN just declared global peace forever.
HAHAH loota you must have been cringing pretty bad to make you post and correct the mistakes
I don't have a crimper Scarp I just picked up a pack of about 20 A4 pages of crimped paper from a craft store for like $5. One side corrugated one side flat to keep its shape. The flat side can be removed really easily or kept on for stability. It's great but I have to be careful not to use heavily watered down glue or paint cause it warps.
Spoiler:
Also the starting of the idea for a Glowing One!
Very much in the planning phase but I'm planning to model him in the radiation explosion point, with some OSL on his rags and on the piece of ruined building behind him.
I think he wont be leaning so far forward looking at him now, more screaming at the sky as he explodes.
Or the occasional useful item like a fork or an iron... You do realise you're also going to have to make a normal guy in a ghoul-skin mask if you've done Tenpenny and are thinking about Roy
I'm looking forward to the OSL - I've never tried it before and could totally use a few ideas to steal
Heh! I was still in the right ballpark as each is a "working dog" that is used to herd farm animals. That and they do share similar color patterns.(Black saddle, pointy ears, bushy tail.)
It'll be my first time too scarp, so ill be looking for tips too =D, but still iv got plenty of other things to do as well so don't expect any updates on this guy for a while.
Aw OSL will look awesome Spartan if you can pull it off...
When its the whole guy thats glowing, working out where that light will hit is gonna be a damn tricky one. It might end up looking like you've had a green spray paint accidient.
loota boy wrote:Sorry guys... that was just really eating me..
You should make some of those aweful aliens from Zeta... Y'know, just so we can laugh at them.
No worries, I did go to the wiki for Fallout and saw what they printed there.
Capital idea, those little goofy aliens deserved to be laughed at. hated the cheaty ones with their personal force fields!!!
Multiple shots to the face with a tesla cannon, my friend. That'll do 'um over just fine. The drones were also stupid though, mayeb you could make some of them too. Actually, the whole DLC was bad.
Amazing work man! I particularly like all the zombies, if you are looking at getting some more variety with them , Mantic zombies are amazing, I would seriously recommend picking up a small set of them!
Mothership Zeta!? Ewww I didn't even buy that DLC, it looked too silly. Except there is some cool armour and weapons that you can get apparently. I'll only make those aliens once I've made everything else in the fallout universe including Maud's Muggers
Thanks Cain I had seen those guys and planned to get some, I think I'll get their ghouls at the same time, like those minis too.
And three dog thats a great idea!
But right now just got my bottles and extra goodies from RSJake's online store Cool right! The black looking bottles are actually dark brown for a full Nuka-Cola bottle
The bottles have many possible applications:
In wasteland terrain as trash:
Or integrated into the model:
Example: How much you willing to risk for this quantum?
Or: God-darn-it Get back here! Zombie stole my drinks!
And for the extras I got a base legs and torso armature, one of his sci-fi skull helmets and those little dots on a piece of paper (find out what they are in spoiler)
Spoiler:
The helmet:
And BOTTLECAPS!
Anyway I also have been doing some modelling, here is the chapel now with walls!
Hehehe, the Nuka-poses are great! That chapel is coming on in leaps and bounds though - I keep forgetting how fantastic you are at making terrain. I just filtered the thread to go back through your old posts to see what you were building with and I found the barricades and shanties that had slipped my mind - you're going to have such an awesome board when you're finished! Any plans on what rules you'll be using for gaming, btw? I'm a little biased, obviously, but I think some modified necro rules could work wonders...
I'm glad your supply drop got there! 10 days? Not bad!
These pics made my day! Do you mind if I use them as possible application examples on my webstore?
I will give you credit for the pictures and models of course, but they look great!
Two Spartan wrote:Mothership Zeta!? Ewww I didn't even buy that DLC, it looked too silly. Except there is some cool armour and weapons that you can get apparently.
No, even the weapons and armor are pretty silly. Drone cannon? Deals cool damage, if you don't mind your shots bouncing around like a yoga ball on speed.. The basic arms are just boring and uninspired. The only cool gear you can get is the samurai armor, and paulson's revolver, but you have to kill the only cool characters in the DLC to get them.. The other three are just annoying. I only have it because of Game of the Year Edition, and even then I only started it on accident.
OT: Those bottles are hella cool! Are you going to leave them as is, or attempt to paint in the nuka cola logo on them?
Loota Boy yeah I'm gonna paint the labels on, or at least the basic colour, don't think I would be able to spell out nuka-cola that small. These were just quickly tacked together.
Thanks scarper really appreciate it =) And yeah necro rules looks like what I will use, at least the basic movement, fighting, and weapons mechanics. Will have to alter character stats.
Yeah RW I saw them on stein's blog and had to get them!
And shas ere ya go:
The shelf gives enough space to fit some bottles and/or some small ammo boxes.
shasolenzabi wrote:Look, I found the alien rifle, very effective at killing the Thugs in Point Lookout.
I've never tried. Of course, i feel like i've commitied a vile sin every time I play Point Lookout while armed with any gun from outside that DLC besides the Kneecapper. Of course, i also feel physically unable to play it without the confederate hat on as well...
With all this talk of point lookout, it makes me want to see you make a couple of fire-axe weilding inbreds..
dude this is epic im probably going to get crucified for this but would you consider making some NCR Ranger Vets and some caesers legion pratorian guard
I don't have any real plans for the Legion or NCR yet, still focusing on all the FO3 stuff. But the Ranger Veterans were extremely cool, so I will probably make a few eventually, just for cools sake.
Crimson-King2120 wrote:dude this is epic im probably going to get crucified for this but would you consider making some NCR Ranger Vets and some caesers legion pratorian guard
Heh. "Crucified." "Caeser's Legion." I see what you did there.
MrMerlin wrote:It's very important that you don't forget the ammo boxes! What is Fallout 3 without the surprise of opening an ammo box? (build one you can open!)
And what is Fallout 3 with the let-down of opening metal boxes? Make some of those that can be opened as well, if only for the dissapointment of finding nothing in them.
RW: Sure do now, took some new pics now ground is finished, with mini's in for scale =)
Merlin: Cheers glad it looks sorta like the game version
Scarper: Thanks man, for the walls I had a base coat of brown, similar to scorched brown. (For the whole thing I used mixed acrylic paints, a I would be using a lot of paint and didn't want to buy 28 GW paints)
Then I dry-brushed a light creamy yellow over each of the planks, going with the planks and focusing on the middle of the planks, leaving a subtler dry-brush on the top and bottom edges of the planks and the sides. I did this a few times getting lighter and lighter each time, up to almost white.
To dirty it up more I added patches of dark brown on the walls and also on broken edges, for a slight burnt look as well, with a large, and again dry brush.
I also added some washes of brown in-between planks that looked too clean.
And now with the base, I allowed the brush to splatter the bottom edges of the outside walls as I painted the soil. To give a dusty appearance.
And hahaha I had those two on my desk as I was thinking of an nickname. I have fun thinking up the poses too
DrCheese: The base of the chapel is now finished but I am planning to furnish it with debris as it is in game. I have pics of what the interior in-game looks like, and of my WIP mattresses below.
Vik: Thanks man now based!
Shas: Hahaha how close is almost, you must get really freaked out watching movies! But seriously thanks man =D
Stein: Cheers buddy, and what did you mean by AB work? If air brush, then thanks but didn't use one, and if you mean abb work then thanks, I have been doing a sweet sit up routine
Ammo boxes and metal boxes will be coming, but the ones I got are a little small, so I'll see how they look.
And I had thought about how I have no cars, I was thinking of using Marx Cars of the Future: http://www.lead-adventure.de/gallery/7/1352_12_01_11_4_36_31.jpg Which I know are correct scale and look awesome, because I have seen them used by people doing similar projects.
Anyway on to new pics:
WIP mattresses for interior, made from foam-board covered with liquid green stuff.
They were modeled after these ones:
and the drybrushing looks so smooth on those wooden walls... very good....
oh and consider that idea with the foamcore mattresses and LGS nicked... that is a cool thinking head you have their... i think someone ought to eat yon brain^^
Sorry no update on the chapel, but I have finished some radscorpions which are Reaper Miniatures Dust Scorpions. Bit on the small side, so they will be baby radscorpions for the two giant radscorpions I am building.
Cool radscorps! I can't wait to see some giant ones! But if you make any albinos, I might end up violently shooting up my computer screen when i see them just by reflex. Damn things just don't friggen' die!
And I'm not scratch building my other Radscorpions, I'm using 2 Heresy Miniatures Giant Scorpion. I just said I was building them because you have to pin every single leg and pincer arm.
No its matte black, I just took the pic right after I sprayed it, in direct sunlight. Will be the normal colouration.
Also here's my model of the sniper you find in the chapel, the Drifter:
His sniper is from Chapterhouse Studios.
He doesn't have a cape or sword in the game.
Im not going to lie, I just rebaught FO3 and have been playing heavily recently, meaning I come back and look at the great conversions on this thread again!
Sorry vik, I was too excited and painted him up without fixing up his cape =[
I see what you mean doesn't quite fit to the shoulders, but I'm not too worried its only really noticeable from eye level with the mini.
Next up! Either painting the rad scorpions, finishing off interior of chapel, some more regulators, or a new terrain piece I'm doing for a friendly competition . Depending what takes my fancy first =P
I say you use the competition to further your post-apocalyptia table!
Automatically Appended Next Post: ...Btw, I think your sniper rifle needs some more spot color, somewhere..Perhaps just different washes or glazes on different parts to make it look like different metals. You are VERY VERY close here to making it look exactly like the reference screenshot, which is the point!
Yeah that's the plan, will be a derelict building but more intact than the others.
And I'm gonna leave the sniper as is for the moment. The gun is darker in RL and I've done enough on that model for a while, gotta keep moving to keep it interesting =)
By far my favourite miniature of the blog!...
I am a fan of the game and the post-apocalyptic feel, and surprisingly you have conveyed it very well in miniature form, without breaking the bank!
The Chapel seems to be coming along nicely and I really like the scavenged barricades ect.
I hope to see more very soon!
