I ran a multiplayer forum-based RPG a few years back, with 25 different 'worlds', updating each in response to player actions and questions near constantly.

I'd probably datadump once a day, rather than a continuous updtate feed, but it's not that hard to track.

That is the common misconception about them, theyre really not so bad when playing for vp (as in a campaign) just remember your playing to drive them off not table them. The cheapest capitol ship they have gives up the same victory points as some battleships when destroyed.

I've played Necrons in BFG. I've won against them perhaps a dozen times, and each one was a very bloody affair. The other races are far easier to beat.

We've got a few hundred people so far, which should help reduce the effects of a few people doing this. Also, a limit on how frequently you can post, and a requirement to post up a certain amount of detail for each battle will hopefully help to knock the frequency of this behaviour down. We are tossing up having a bonus for battle reports involving much more detail (and therefore more likely to be real) as opposed to those meeting the bare minimum as well.

For example, you can't submit 'My Blood Angels won 8 VPs to 3' every 3 hours and expect that to count. At all. It'll be explained in the player brief, but there is a bare minimum required for result responses.

Does that help assuage your worries a bit?

There isn't much you can do, but as there is nothing to be gained by such behaviour other than faction bragging rights. I would hope the number of such falsely reported results would be too low to alter the end result.

The 'Other' forces have their own goals which align with neither Order nor Disorder's goals. The tyranids want to nom (amongst other things), the Tau intend to act as a spoiler for the region in a way, and the necrons, well, you'll see...

A quick update, for those that want custom army sigs. Heres the list of stuffs Ill need in a PM:

Your logo, can be color or not. Ill do black or the color copy if you have or prefer it.
Army name, its gona go over the logo.
Highlight color for the logo, Its your army, might as well have your logo the same color as em!
Highlight color for the Army name, prolly your armies secondary color.
If you got cordinates to colors, Ill gladly put those in for the highlights, just tell me which one you want where!

What are you gonna do about sectors for clubs that want to fight their battles within the campagin? Are there gonna be opportuinitys for club's to get "deployed" by their respective orders onto the same battlefields so that they can keep a running narrative too?

I don't know about the other warzone commanders, but the order forces in my system will be able to deploy themselves as they want, with at best there being some recommendations from me. I see the warzone commander role as more of a data collecting and passing on role than a command role. I think that will work better than a warzone commander trying to give strict commands.

But that didn't really answer your question. If you were in my warzone, I'd let you choose where you deploy, so you can forge your own narratives (I can't help but hear that phrase in reecius' voice...dammit. 'forging a rock-hard narrative right here'). Anyway, yeah. Did that help a bit more?

Hmm I think that fleet assets are mostly a fluff thing. If you are bringing a regiment, you would have the regiment's support element (a transport and a frigate or something), and if you were bringing part of a chapter you would have a strike cruiser and one or 2 escorts. It will be mostly battlefleet gothic which has an in game effect on speed of transport and other mechanics.

However, if, say, disorder is far more active than the other sides in one system, and they have almost all of their fleet assets (fluffy ones) present, and there are no order or other ones really, well, we'll take things like that on a case by case basis.

If anyone comes in with fluff saying 'we have 1,000 cruisers' then they deserve to be smacked over the head really really hard for making things difficult for us.

I sent the packet to BAB motyak, I dont have the email for the others, I know you got myself red and anvil. Red is reading through it now.

As far as the fluff goes I started gathering it awhile ago but once BAB volunteered I delegated it to him and he has graciously taken up the task of formatting and placing every ones army fluff in the article we set up here on dakka PM either of us and it will get to where it needs to go.

The fluff section for the tau needs slight editing, a name and a perspective shift is pretty much it. Spellcheck looks good and the entire thing looks pretty well polished up to me. Only remaning question I have is if we want to turn it into a PDF for ease of viewing ( also pdfs are fancy)

Thanks mate. And above 1000 as in points? The points aren't too important in terms of signing your army up, although the size of battle will affect the effect of your battles.

As Daemons do I more or less just pop up where ever more chaos forces are already fighting?

I'd say that you deploy as per normal, think of it as cult activity on that planet being enough to break the barrier between worlds, and you would be bound by the same travel time as the other armies, but think of that instead as the time it takes to dissapear from this plane of reality and be resummoned elsewhere.

If I get it right you ask your local players if they are ok with you reporting the games to the organizers and after the games you send a battle report to the organizer of your faction. So there will be only a few games where 2 players who both participate in the campaign play against each other.

Its not done by areas of the world, its done by which system you deploy your soldiers in. Check out the post in this sub-forum a few down for the players handbook if you haven't seen it yet, that should help.

Forces of Order, we should make a separate thread or forum or something where we can discuss matters of the campaign in private and figure out where each of us should deploy. No sense in everyone going in blindly and dedicating their forces where they are not needed. Plus as the campaign goes on we can report where help is needed and use that to send reinforcements swiftly.

Oh yeah for sure, I think everyone should have one. I was just taking the initiative to get people in on it is all.

Having an order and disorder thread with a chart or map of where everyone is deployed and a place where they can report/comment is an excellent idea! Ascalam and the other warzone commanders should speak with the organizers.

Actually I like fighting Tau, every time I have played against them with my Wolves it has been a good old shooting match and every time my Wolves have come out on top. Not lost to Tau yet, although this campaign could be the end of that.

I posted a link to this page on my local groups page, and it's showing interest. 2 players have already showed interest in it. If it keeps getting interest, I might be able to help organize a little event of it in the lexington area. At least a day where the Lex players can meet up and get some games in. Would be more fun than just playing random pub games and just sending the results in.

So don't know if this was answered somewhere or not, but are we allowed to use allies/have two different armies (but fighting for the same group)?

For example I want my main army to be my Imperial Guard, but I have a medium sized detachment of sisters I would like to use as well for this. Is that allowed?

I imagine it's probably allowed, as I might want to try a list with some allies at some point myself.

This isn't my first rodeo, as campaigns go, but i'll likely be wound up and twitchy anyway.

It's a lot of work, with a large audience, and can be a pretty thankless job sometimes (or at least folk will not realize just how much effort goes into something like this...)

Just take it easy, pop some pain-pills and say after me..

'WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!'

Ok so in the player's packet thread there is faq is covering allies and more, and I am expanding it tonight by trawling this thread and looking for questions which have been asked, direct your attention to the faq before asking a question, hopefully it'll be handled before you need to ask. But if not, of course you should feel free to ask away
