Thanks Monkeytroll. I was honestly shocked that nothing required major repairs. The Terminator Lord was in about 6 pieces, but the glue worked just as well the second time around
I finished one of the possessed chaos marines tonight, here are some pictures of him. And also some fancy light box photos of the Death Guard and Emperor's Children chaos marines I've finished for my warband.
I'm working on the last two Cultists now. I have the next two days off work, so I'm hoping to finish them soon and then move on to the last half a dozen or so Chaos Marines. Then it's just the Rhino left and the Chaos Warband will be finished (for now)...
After that, I get to start on my Ordo Malleus Inquisition force. Along with all of the random models I collected for the Inquisitor's retinue, I also have a squad of Grey Knights, an allied Deathwatch Space Marine group, some Deathwatch Neophytes, and a Valkyrie.
If I ever manage to get them all finished, I've got a couple dozen Orks in a cabinet around here somewhere too
Here's a (slightly modified) Kranon the Relentless model from the Dark Vengeance set. I decided to try out a Word Bearers scheme on this repurposed Chaos Lord (now a Sorcerer of Chaos) and I like it, even though it's not the cleanest looking mini I've ever painted. It, however, very well may have been the fastest
I've stalled a bit again, half way through another of the Chaos Chosen. This one I'm doing as an Emperor's Children csm also, I just really like the look of them I guess
Work has been stressful and more than a bit hectic the last two weeks but I'm aiming to take some time off in September and should be able to make another push towards the finish line with my Chaos Warband.
It is important to not let this become a chore, take your time, let the force flow. And more importantly don't worry about it. Life gets hectic. Things get in the way. You will be sat down with a grin on your face soon enough having finished and wondering what is next.
Are the backpack Talons rusted metal? The edge of the blade looks great but I think the upper edges might benefit from some clean steel chips and scraping
He really has fallen a long way! Love seeing the old mutations sprue in action. There’s loads of gems in it.
I’m in the habit of nesting full resolution versions of my images in a spoiler at the end of my updates. Saves people faffing around with Dakka’s image viewer, which isn’t very friendly with phones and tablets.
The last three CSM's are currently a wip, with all three planned as Night Lords. Pics to come.
Then it's the final (currently planned) piece of this army, a Rhino transport. It'll be interesting as it will be by far the largest model I've painted so far. I'm looking forward to it.
Finally moved into the new place and back to painting. Here's my Night Lords aspiring champion with a simple conversion to replace that wimpy little knife with a 2nd power axe.
Thanks Cam! This is certainly one of my favorite Chaos schemes to paint. Here's another..
A Night Lords Possessed Chaos Space Marine
Larger version:
Spoiler:
I have just one CSM left to paint, then the Rhino and I am officially finished with my Chaos Warband. I have considered adding some pieces and at the very least replacing my Hellbrute, which I sadly and stupidly left behind in my recent move, but those potential additions will have to wait because I am really excited to start my Inquisition force once these are complete. In fact, this week I added the Eisenhorn mini and some psykers to my Inquisition collection!
Thanks for the vote of confidence Cam and thanks for the kind words, I thoroughly enjoyed working on that possessed csm. Makes me wish I had enough of those wings to do a whole squad
Since I started painting 3 years ago, I have gone from not ever drilling barrels to drilling every barrel no matter how unlikely it is that anyone will ever see it. Progress!
Here is my finished (and final) Night Lords Chaos Marine. I'm not sure yet what the plan is for the CSM I found in my hobby case, but I may try my hand at yet another random traitor legion. First I think I'll get started on the rhino though, since I've been planning on making that my next project, assuming I don't get sidetracked with those accursed greenskins
(I just realized I forgot to highlight the teeth on that shoulder pad's demonic face )
Personally I prefer the first one, for two reasons. Firstly I would have the more mutated/chaotic members of the army on foot and hacking things to pieces so in turn a more "normal" one would be driving the APC, secondly I think the sculpts from the old upgrade sprue are showing their age.
Great work on the Night Lords Chosen, not the easiest of schemes and you have done it justice.
Thanks! I decided you were right and went with the first one.
Here is a look at the Rhino. Most of it is not glued in place, in order to make it easier to paint. I was going to prime it today but it decided to rain...
Spoiler:
I still haven't decided whether or not to leave the side hatch down or not. Anyone have any thoughts/opinions on the matter?

My first vehicle was certainly a learning experience. I've had a lot of fun painting chaos and, although I will definitely add to it in the future, I am happy to call this first project (finally) finished and move on to the Inquisition army I started collecting more than two years ago. Here's hoping it doesn't take me another three years to finish my follow-up project
Camkierhi wrote: Good to see you finally working on proper models
All looking great bud, the Chaos is really nice, any chance of a final army shot?
Looking forward to the Inquisition.
Thanks Cam! Yah, I will definitely do a final army shot, that surprise csm and the poxwalkers I bought made me wonder if I should wait though but since I won't be getting to them for a while I think I may go ahead and take a group picture.
1 Word Bearers chaos sorcerer lord
2 Fallen terminator marines and 1 Fallen terminator lord
4 Emperors Children marines (Actually 1 is technically an Exquisite Host marine)
4 Night Lords marines including 1 Possessed and 1 Aspiring champion
4 Death Guard marines including 2 Possessed
6 more chaos marines including a Red Corsairs marine, a traitor Mantis Warriors marine, an Iron Warriors marine, a Blades of Rage marine, a Violators marine, and a Black Legion marine.
14 cultists
1 Chaos Rhino with Emperors Children driver
Here's a picture of my progress since I started painting, my first mini and my most recent..
I've finished a member of the frateris militia, he looks better from a distance I tried some stuff that didn't really work out the way I wanted (that coat lol), and I've been forced into the realization that my style of painting has been tainted by my choice to paint only chaos for all these years. Time to repent and look for ways to clean things up a bit.
and I've continued working on my Red Hunters squad. Painting multiple minis in the same scheme simultaneously is proving to be a mixed bag, good and bad things about it compared to doing a series of random minis one at a time.
Spoiler:
and another wip pic, this one a little further along..
I finished a group of Red Hunters for my Inquisition army..
More images and angles..
Spoiler:
Here's an alternate image with some close-ups..
Those Inquisition "I"'s are officially my first try at freehand painting anything I struggled for a bit trying to decide how to do the chapter symbol for these guys. I considered trying to print my own decals but decided it was too much trouble, I considered ordering some of those 3d printed shoulder pad icons from shapeways, but in the end what I did was simply cut out the individual skulls from the 3 skull Death Guard symbols from my chaos transfer sheet and painted the "I" on them as best I could.
Here is the finished Servitor, doing the vials of liquid was yet another first for me. When I had them based black and was looking at them I honestly considered painting them to look like Duracell batteries
*Sorry, image is a bit blurry here, click into it to view in higher resolution.
Here is the Crusader, he may be a zealot but he's smart enough to know the advantages of bringing a plasma weapon with him in his quest to eradicate the heretics and xenos scum..
Current wip, the chaos Ogryn kitbash. Admittedly, containing zero Ogryn bits.
Camkierhi wrote:He is magnificent, the wrong colour but brilliant none the less. All kidding aside, really brilliant love him.
Thanks Cam! I must have grabbed fleshtone by accident when reaching for Waaagh! Flesh, oops..
lindsay40k wrote:That’s fantastic! I miss the old mutations sprue, there were some real gems on it.
Thanks Lindsay, I'm going to be sad when I run out of old school mutation bits, they've been a part of some of my favorite minis so far.
I finished what I'm calling a Inquisition Fanatic that I made from an old Orlock model. He looks like a pirate or a biker or something, but he's got a Luke Skywalker style robo-hand and a bunch of medals pinned to his chest, so we can assume he's a veteran of numerous witch burnings
Currently working on an Arbites, had to talk myself out of doing the 2000 AD Dredd color scheme
UPDATE: I finished the first Arbites and successfully fought the urge to give him green gloves and a yellow shoulder pad..
I just got around to doing pictures of the Red Hunters Sergeant. I'm (slowly) working on an old librarian model now who along with a Captain will be the last of the Red Hunters minis I have planned, but I'd love to do a dreadnought at some point.
Here is a small diversion I took yesterday, my Red Hunters Librarian is still wip. This is a Shimazu Clan samurai for the Test of Honour game. I have another ready to paint that will be a Hojo Clan samurai and will be blue and black with a triforce for a clan symbol. These are just test models and a fun diversion from other projects, but I have a ton of them to paint at some point in the future and four nice character models to go along with them.
Nice work on the samurai, have you gotten the new rules from test of honor? I got kind of burnt out on the first edition, and I’m waiting for the first rounds of second edition to shake out any problems.
Theophony wrote: Nice work on the samurai, have you gotten the new rules from test of honor? I got kind of burnt out on the first edition, and I’m waiting for the first rounds of second edition to shake out any problems.
No, I just have the original boxed game and a couple of extra plastic sprues and a few of the metal ronin minis. I haven't seen any of the 2nd edition stuff yet, but I'm excited for the new minis!
I picked up some Sisters of Silence for my Inquisition army, I thought my female Inquisitor would appreciate some more warrior women for her retinue. I also have a few Sisters of Battle, which I'm sure I'll add to when I get my hands on some of the new plastic models.
The wife bought me a Chimera because she's awesome, and I've been slowly working on it for a week or so... I am a bit frustrated with the Red Hunters Librarian I am painting, so it's nice to have something else to work on for a bit....
Here are some wip pics..
A bit of the old "move me closer, I want to hit them with my sword", don't worry I took care of those mold lines
Still very much wip. I broke down and tried some contrast paints, on this of all things. They are certainly different That black base paint is Contrast, as is the red trim. I won't be switching over any time soon, but I'll wait until I've used them on a traditional mini before I form a final opinion.
I'm trying to justify ordering the new Judge Dredd mini game from Warlord Games, but the full set is $360 USD. I love Dredd and the minis look great, but damn that's a lot of money
Anyways, here is some of my favorite stuff I've painted in 2019. This has been my most productive year for hobby stuff, by far.
I'm really pleased with how the Chimera turned out, definitely an improvement over the Rhino I painted (pictured below the Chimera for comparison) earlier this year. (Lots more photos of the Chimera at the bottom of page 13)
I'm working on the Red Hunters Librarian again, I'll post a wip pic after I make some more progress on him. After he is done, I just have the Captain left to do to completely finish the Red Hunters squad.
The Skitarii I added to my Inquisitors crusade force just got their cohort leader. I'm going to do a hand and weapon swap to replace a typical tech-priest style axe with some bits from a Sisters of Battle Canoness. Of course this means I'll have to file off a bunch of fleur-de-lis
Denny wrote:The last couple of pages have run the gambit of all those characterful models I love but have never got round to painting. Great work. Kudos!
Thanks! Quite a few of them I picked up years ago when I first started planning to do an Inquisition army. I'm really happy to have finally gotten to this project, It's been a fun year of painting.
Paradigm wrote:Love that purple, what's your recipe? I always struggle with getting a strong tone, it always goes grey or pink.
Thanks Paradigm! It gives me trouble too, to be honest this was me returning to basics. I based with Nagggaroth Night, shaded with Nuln Oil, and then dry brushed a highlight of Xereus Purple and then a brighter highlight with Genestealer Purple. It still wasn't bright enough so I repeated both dry brushing steps and tried to blend it by dry brushing the transitions a bit.
Here's an updated look at my Sisters of Silence test mini, very much still wip..
Update:
The first of my Sisters of Silence is finished and I'm looking forward to painting the rest of them. I'll stick to this scheme but I think I'll give their hair color a bit of variety.
Paradigm wrote: Ooh, that's an awesome power sword effect, definitely nicking that! Great work on the SoS.
Thanks Paradigm, I was torn between doing a normal steel sword and doing a power sword. Obviously I decided on the power sword but I wanted to try something different rather than my usual way (mostly because my usual way looks pretty crap I don't have the patience for all those smooth layers and gradient building) and anyways, I struck upon this because it just sort of suited the blade I thought. Glad you like it!
Lots of very cool stuff. The Sister is great. Love the sword amd the mud on the hem of her cloak. Quasi is a very characterful model. The servitor is awesome and following it up with two classic preachers is just icing on the cake.

Viterbi wrote:He looks really cool, the face is marvelous!
Thanks! Faces have always been a struggle for me, so I really appreciate you saying that
Pomander Cask wrote:The fanatic looks great! May he fire many plasma bolts and righteously rattle his relics for many years to come.
Thanks Pomander, I foresee many long years of righteous service for this paragon of piety.
The other fanatic is still early wip, I think it was a good idea to paint them at the same time but at a certain point it was easier (and more fun) to shift all of my attention to the one mini. I'll hopefully post another wip picture of the remaining fanatic soon.
youwashock wrote: That model has always been a stand-out in the range and for me really encapsulates a lot of the "40K" feel. Great job on an iconic model.
Thank you! It was a fun one to paint, the details really made it a characterful model. Sadly it appears it's no longer available on the web store and also not included in the limited made-to-order run GW is currently offering.
Pomander Cask wrote: That's a strong and good-looking ork. He has a little purple vein over his left biceps, very nice.
Thanks Pomander! I like to think he's big, shooty and dead 'ard
That's another Ork finished, this one is much grittier than my first foray into painting greenskins. This was my first time painting a checkered pattern too, maybe a bit harder than hazard stripes but at least I didn't have to use yellow C&C welcome!

Spoiler:
Someone on another site asked me how I did the skin, since I took the time to type out an answer I thought I'd post it here as well..
I primed it with Chaos Black spray, then I painted all of the skin with Waaagh! Flesh, then highlighted with Warboss Green, then highlighted with Skarsnik Green, then shaded with Biel-tan Green, then highlighted with Straken Green, then with Nurgling Green, then with Ogryn Camo. Then I mixed Biel-tan Green shade with Casandora Yellow shade in a 2:1 ratio and shaded all of the skin with it. I also used some Screamer Pink and Pink Horror on the lips and some of the more pronounced veins and then used both Nuln Oil and Druchii Violet shades on the face.
Nice work on that nob! The rusty, grimy metal looks great. And so does the skin, of course, but that recipe... man, that would be tough to apply to an entire horde. But it sure looks pretty when it's done.
Fanatic looks great. One of the models I‘m tempted to pick up in metal on ebay. I believe the version in the GW store is finecast, so that‘s a big no Did you do something to the chainsword? It looks really nice but the GW webstore version looks bad in contrast, like the teeth of the chainsword melted together.
The Riddle of Steel wrote:Nice work on that nob! The rusty, grimy metal looks great. And so does the skin, of course, but that recipe... man, that would be tough to apply to an entire horde. But it sure looks pretty when it's done.
Thanks! No doubt, these fellas are for a kill team though, so it should be doable

Thank you. I understand what you mean, I definitely liked working with the old metal mini and was lucky enough to grab this when it was still available on the webstore. Nothing special about this chainsword, just painted it up and used some bftbg.
Here's an updated wip pic of this friendly looking fellow..
Nice, looking forward to seeing those. Always enjoyed the Dreadknight honestly, yes it's absurdly impractical but so is literally everything else about Space Marines anyway! Sometimes, you've just gotta dress up as a Transformer and swing an Ogryn-sized hammer at some Demons... And of course that Chaplain is just an all-time classic.
Inquisition chaps continue to look wonderfully dingy and atmospheric.

Thanks Paradigm. I agree about the Dreadknight, I'm not going to start involving logic in this whole space marine thing now, we're well past that point I love mecha of all kinds and fall immediately in love with every model that brings anything close to a mech to 40k. And he'll go nicely with the squad of Grey Knights I'm doing for this Inquisition project. The chaplain is awesome, I guess he'll end up in the Red Hunters squad or maybe with the Grey Knights. He's such a cool mini and will be my first attempt at a resin model.
Here's another Imperial Cult fanatic finished and now it's time to paint the space pope
Pomander Cask wrote: The fanatic looks good! I like the the worn/scorched leather parts especially, it looks like he’s straight out of the interrogation chamber.
Thanks! He turned out to be one of my favorites from this group, though honestly they're all among my favorites
I'm working on my last Servitor now before moving on to my Red Hunters Captain and, of course, the Space Pope. Wip pics coming soon!
Here's a wip pic of the Red Hunters Captain, this is the last of the minis I originally planned for this squad of Red Hunters. I chose them because of their close affiliation with the Inquisition and because I liked their paint scheme. I may add the newly acquired Chaplain to their ranks as well...
Digging on those Marines. Cool, classic style. The Captain is super good. The sword is a real eye-catcher. Who made the samurai? Is it a Wargames Factory model?
youwashock wrote: Digging on those Marines. Cool, classic style. The Captain is super good. The sword is a real eye-catcher. Who made the samurai? Is it a Wargames Factory model?
Thanks, I love the old tactical marines. I'm still intimidated by a model as detailed as that Captain, but the simple scheme helps for sure. I didn't want to over do the sword effect on this one because it's already such a busy, dense sculpt and power weapons are one of my favorite things to experiment with when doing 40k minis, this one was simple but really cool I thought.
The samurai are from Warlord Games, from the first edition of Test of Honour, though many of the minis predate TOH and have long been available as a stand alone sprue on their web store.
Well, it looks like I won't have much time to paint over the next week so I thought I'd go ahead and take a look at what I was able to accomplish this year. Here's everything I painted in 2019..
I really picked up the pace this year and I did the math to prove it I started painting minis at the beginning of 2016, and between then and the end of 2018 I painted a total of 33 minis.
In 2019 I painted a total of 39 minis! So I painted more this year than in my first three years combined. That means 54% of all of the minis I've ever painted, I painted this year.
I hope you have all had a fun and productive year in the hobby and I can't wait to see what you all create next year!
My 12 yo daughter started painting her first mini this week, she chose space marines and is painting the first one up as a salamanders marine. I'm making a little custom base for it to make her fist mini a little more special. It's a ton of fun to share the hobby with the kiddos, her little brother is already eyeing some orks
A sneak peek at the custom base I'm building for my daughter's first mini. I realized last night it's larger and more detailed than any base I've ever made for one of my own minis
Viterbi wrote: Great looking base and really cool that your daughter takes to the hobby!
Thanks Viterbi! We've been having fun.
Speaking of which, check this out..
My daughter's 1st mini is finished! She did great, and I had a lot of fun teaching her and making the base. Next up, we're going to team up to paint a pair of Crimson Fists.
Nice that you're introducing the family! Your daughter has done a great job on the Salamander. And the base is great too. Also the space pope is coming along nicely.
Pomander Cask wrote:Nice that you're introducing the family! Your daughter has done a great job on the Salamander. And the base is great too. Also the space pope is coming along nicely.
Thanks! Lots of fun for us both.
Camkierhi wrote:The Apple has not fallen far from the tree. That is an awesome mini. Fantastic work mini Heretic.
Well done teacher too. Love the catch up. Great to see you still at it.
Thanks Cam! I am persisting as best I can, as always
Space Pope complete, and that means a group shot as soon as I get time..
The hat on the Pope is maybe a bit too colorful for my taste, but I love the dirty robes and the green flame designs on the relic. The glass eye is a great touch!
Also, the collab Salamander looks great, I'm looking forward to the Crimson Fists! Btw, do you have more hobby time now that you can say it's family time?
Your daughter's Marine came out great! The Pope, too. That eye is where it's at. And so grimy, just right in the thick of things. "In the Emperor's name, REPENT!"

I can understand that, it was something I wrestled with a bit but I decided I wanted something loud and went for an ornate enamel look (can't really say I pulled it off though ) but I'm glad you enjoyed some of the other details. I'm really excited about the Crimson Fists too, they have always been one of my favorite chapters but I've never painted one.
youwashock wrote:Your daughter's Marine came out great! The Pope, too. That eye is where it's at. And so grimy, just right in the thick of things. "In the Emperor's name, REPENT!"
Thanks! I've definitely leaned into the grimy aesthetic with my Inquisition force
I'm going to try to take a group shot of the fanatics tonight or tomorrow, if time permits.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
I found time here's the Imperial Cult group together..
These were the models that (along with Dan Abnett ) made me want to collect, build, and paint this Inquisition crusade force. I still have so many more minis left to paint before the crusade is ready to make war on the enemies of the Emperor.. one mini at a time...
Amazing spread of models. Don't know if I said so before, but I love the use of the chunky plasma pistol on the Crusader. A great bit that really changes up the model. Going to have to remember how good that worked when I get around to the new plastic one.
youwashock wrote: "...I love the use of the chunky plasma pistol on the Crusader. A great bit that really changes up the model..."
Thanks, it's definitely one of my favorite weapon swaps.

Here's a peek at my current wip..
UPDATE
I finished another Imperial Navy officer, this one is the Battle for Macragge pilot model, which I have always really liked.
I'm not done with the Imperial Navy component of my Inquisition army, but this was the last of the minis I originally collected for it, so that sounds like a good excuse for a group pic
I am planning to give the High Admiral an honor guard using some minis from the Rogue Trader Kill Team box, but that's much further down the old hobby to-do list. C&C welcome and thanks for having a look!
gobert wrote: A good complement of Navy officers (plus a lowly deckhand on the left?) to add the inquisition!
Good work getting your daughter involved, she looked to be having fun and did a great job too!
Thanks, yes that fellow is an old timer who has served the admiral for a long, distinguished period of years and though his station is not one that commands great respect, he is a trusted servant and faithful protector. Or something to that effect it is an old frateris militia mini!
And yes, the kiddo is all smiles when it's time to paint. She read the first Warhammer Adventures book and here we are
Ooh, another Varras! (I also painted one recently.) I'm really liking your color palette, and the detail work you've put into him, such as the vials and the hazard stripe cables.
Also, I'm super jealous of your Imperial Cult collection! Such great models, and beautifully painted!

Here's my current wip, the 2nd of 3 old school arbites for my Inquisitor's retinue.
And here's a look at my first attempt at using greenstuff. I've had it in my hobby box for over 2 years and just now worked up the nerve to try doing something with it..
Oop, I see the sarge/champion with his mohawk hiding back there. Looking forward to seeing how he turns out. Congrats on breaking into your greenstuff!
Awesome. I keep hoping for a new version with all the stuff going on with Necromunda and GW's nostalgia mining. The Enforcers are cool and all, but they aren't THIS cool.
I picked up some Cawdor gang minis, super excited to paint them. They are and always have been my favorite Necromunda models, though all of them are pretty great..
Anyways, I'm slowly working on my 3rd Arbites, here's a WIP pic..

Thanks! I was kinda winging it on the power maul, glad it turned out as well as it did. I definitely intend to go ahead and track down an arbites with a bolter and the arbites champion with the big eagle helm and see if I can stop myself there
I was fortunate enough to get some great new stuff this week, courtesy of my wonderful wife...
First, some models I've wanted for a long time now..
And some super exciting new star stuff
The walking dead miniature game, I love the minis in this one a lot..
And last but not least, another enforcer for my squad of Arbites, this one with the bolter (courtesy of ebay)
Not arriving until tomorrow but no less exciting is the Song of Ice and Fire boxed game, another game that has some really awesome minis in it. I have to admit I didn't finish watching the show and only made it a few seasons in before finding myself without enough time to keep up with it, but the miniatures in this box are so cool and really satisfy that part of me that just desperately wants to paint a bunch of knights
Work is crazy at the moment, but I've started the other half of the P.E. and started base painting a female zombie from the Walking Dead box. Wip pics coming... eventually
The Penitent Engine looks fabulous so far... the old ones are a major pain structurally, but aesthetically I like them just as well as the new plastics. I'll second the nod to the purity seals, and the level of detail in general... love the base!

Thank you! I really like the sculpt, but it is definitely a bit of a pain. That base was a lot of fun, and it's nice to finally execute something I've been planning for so long.
Fifty wrote:Yeah, the Penitent Engine is looking fantastic.
I really like the old Arbites models too.
Thanks, I can't get enough of the old arbites. They are definitely among my all time favorite GW minis.
I've taken a diverison from the 2nd half of the PE to do my first mini from the Walking Dead: All Out War box. I tried to go for a more cartoony look, kinda regretting using the BFTBG...
My daughter and I also finished our Crimson Fists project, hers is on the right and honestly probably looks better than mine
DC and Trek? Great haul, looking forward to seeing some of it painted up!
@viterbi, the Trek minis are by Modiphius Games, for their ST Adventures RPG. I painted their TNG crew last year, tiny minis but really superb sculpts. Definitely recommend them.
That is a very nice haul. Much of the 2000AD stuff is on my wishlist, but I am managing to resist so far. I reeeeeally wanted the Strontium Dog starter set, but I just know I can't justofy it.

This is the biggest terrain piece I've ever made, by far... all from cheap foam packaging and such. I am going to try my hand at making trees soon and may add a few to the board, though I may just mount them on their own bases. C&C welcome!!
Cool board, the open grave is a great addition and might even give some cover! . Some trees would be cool, maybe some young sapling dotted between some of the stones?
Thanks! Here's some scatter terrain, including a tree
My first time making this sort of stuff. I made the tree from 18 gauge wire, plaster of paris, and clump foliage. The rest is mostly popsicle sticks. Thanks for having a look, C&C welcome!
I'm about to start a new game board and I've gotten a lot of new supplies (better foam, a hot wire table, etc.) and I've been making buildings. A little village of sorts. The problem I'm having is that I've figured out that if I don't place a floor on the buildings I can just set them over the top of other terrain features (I've tried this on my recently finished game board and it changes it up a lot and gives me a lot of options) ...so on this new board I want to build into the board something other than just a bunch of large rocks like I did on the first one, presumably I will sometimes cover these features with buildings. I thought about doing ruined versions of the buildings or craters underneath. Any suggestions? Any ideas for terrain features in general? I think I may do a trench but I haven't settled on anything yet. Thanks in advance for your input!
And because I’m sort of lazy about updating and it’s done now, here’s that mini finished:
I’m taking a little diversion now and working on one of the beastmen I converted a while ago. I have a few more orks that I could paint, but since I have enough for a greenskin kill team finished now, I will likely wait a while before painting the remaining orks. I do have a sort of “counts as” pain boy/mad doc kitbash that I’m sure I’ll want to get to before too awful long though.
I made some barriers and other terrain with the family (I've got everyone hobbying ). They're cut from blue insulation foam and then decorated. I pressed a few shapes into some and themed them a bit. the "stone" ones were "carved" with an ink pen. It's turning into a fun family project.
We've made quite a few other pieces that are in progress, here's an Orky "trash wall" I'm working on:
Here's the rest of our WIP stuff we started yesterday:
