Thanks! I had to do a Google image search to remind myself what Bob looked like, but you're seriously right, it really does look like him

Well, it looks like I won't have much time to paint over the next week so I thought I'd go ahead and take a look at what I was able to accomplish this year. Here's everything I painted in 2019..

I really picked up the pace this year and I did the math to prove it
I started painting minis at the beginning of 2016, and between then and the end of 2018 I painted a total of 33 minis.
In 2019 I painted a total of 39 minis! So I painted more this year than in my first three years combined. That means 54% of all of the minis I've ever painted, I painted this year.

I hope you have all had a fun and productive year in the hobby and I can't wait to see what you all create next year!

Heretic Tom

Good work, especially for only having painted for so short of a time.

Thank you! The group shot really helped me realize just how much I accomplished this year.

Thanks! I like to think the quality of my painting is improving along with the speed.

Here are some of my favorites from this year..

Happy New Year everyone!

A quick update on my current wip..

My 12 yo daughter started painting her first mini this week, she chose space marines and is painting the first one up as a salamanders marine. I'm making a little custom base for it to make her fist mini a little more special. It's a ton of fun to share the hobby with the kiddos, her little brother is already eyeing some orks

A sneak peek at the custom base I'm building for my daughter's first mini. I realized last night it's larger and more detailed than any base I've ever made for one of my own minis

Thanks Viterbi! We've been having fun.

Speaking of which, check this out..

My daughter's 1st mini is finished! She did great, and I had a lot of fun teaching her and making the base. Next up, we're going to team up to paint a pair of Crimson Fists.

and here's an update on the cosmic pontiff..

Nice that you're introducing the family! Your daughter has done a great job on the Salamander. And the base is great too. Also the space pope is coming along nicely.

Well done teacher too. Love the catch up. Great to see you still at it.

The hat on the Pope is maybe a bit too colorful for my taste, but I love the dirty robes and the green flame designs on the relic. The glass eye is a great touch!

Also, the collab Salamander looks great, I'm looking forward to the Crimson Fists! Btw, do you have more hobby time now that you can say it's family time?

Your daughter's Marine came out great! The Pope, too. That eye is where it's at. And so grimy, just right in the thick of things. "In the Emperor's name, REPENT!"

I can understand that, it was something I wrestled with a bit but I decided I wanted something loud and went for an ornate enamel look (can't really say I pulled it off though ) but I'm glad you enjoyed some of the other details. I'm really excited about the Crimson Fists too, they have always been one of my favorite chapters but I've never painted one.

Thanks! I've definitely leaned into the grimy aesthetic with my Inquisition force

I'm going to try to take a group shot of the fanatics tonight or tomorrow, if time permits.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

I found time here's the Imperial Cult group together..

These were the models that (along with Dan Abnett ) made me want to collect, build, and paint this Inquisition crusade force. I still have so many more minis left to paint before the crusade is ready to make war on the enemies of the Emperor.. one mini at a time...

Space Pope looks fantastic! Have always loved the confessor model and think that he perfectly encapsulates the 40k inquisition/ecclestiarchy vibe.

Salamandar looks great for a collaboration also

Thanks for sharing

Amazing spread of models. Don't know if I said so before, but I love the use of the chunky plasma pistol on the Crusader. A great bit that really changes up the model. Going to have to remember how good that worked when I get around to the new plastic one.

Thanks, I agree it's a fantastic model.

Here's a peek at my current wip..

UPDATE

I finished another Imperial Navy officer, this one is the Battle for Macragge pilot model, which I have always really liked.

I'm not done with the Imperial Navy component of my Inquisition army, but this was the last of the minis I originally collected for it, so that sounds like a good excuse for a group pic

I am planning to give the High Admiral an honor guard using some minis from the Rogue Trader Kill Team box, but that's much further down the old hobby to-do list. C&C welcome and thanks for having a look!

A good complement of Navy officers (plus a lowly deckhand on the left?) to add the inquisition!

Good work getting your daughter involved, she looked to be having fun and did a great job too!

Thanks, yes that fellow is an old timer who has served the admiral for a long, distinguished period of years and though his station is not one that commands great respect, he is a trusted servant and faithful protector. Or something to that effect it is an old frateris militia mini!

And yes, the kiddo is all smiles when it's time to paint. She read the first Warhammer Adventures book and here we are

Ooh, another Varras! (I also painted one recently.) I'm really liking your color palette, and the detail work you've put into him, such as the vials and the hazard stripe cables.

Also, I'm super jealous of your Imperial Cult collection! Such great models, and beautifully painted!

Thanks Theo, I'm going to add the void troopers from the Rogue Trader Killteam box to the admiral's retinue as an honor guard next!

Thanks! High praise coming from you, your Varras is incredible!

Here's my current wip, the 2nd of 3 old school arbites for my Inquisitor's retinue.

And here's a look at my first attempt at using greenstuff. I've had it in my hobby box for over 2 years and just now worked up the nerve to try doing something with it..

Questions, comments, critiques, and tips welcome!
