That model has always been a stand-out in the range and for me really encapsulates a lot of the "40K" feel. Great job on an iconic model.

Thank you! It was a fun one to paint, the details really made it a characterful model. Sadly it appears it's no longer available on the web store and also not included in the limited made-to-order run GW is currently offering.

That's a strong and good-looking ork. He has a little purple vein over his left biceps, very nice.

Thanks Pomander! I like to think he's big, shooty and dead 'ard

That's another Ork finished, this one is much grittier than my first foray into painting greenskins. This was my first time painting a checkered pattern too, maybe a bit harder than hazard stripes but at least I didn't have to use yellow C&C welcome!

More angles:
Spoiler:

Someone on another site asked me how I did the skin, since I took the time to type out an answer I thought I'd post it here as well..
I primed it with Chaos Black spray, then I painted all of the skin with Waaagh! Flesh, then highlighted with Warboss Green, then highlighted with Skarsnik Green, then shaded with Biel-tan Green, then highlighted with Straken Green, then with Nurgling Green, then with Ogryn Camo. Then I mixed Biel-tan Green shade with Casandora Yellow shade in a 2:1 ratio and shaded all of the skin with it. I also used some Screamer Pink and Pink Horror on the lips and some of the more pronounced veins and then used both Nuln Oil and Druchii Violet shades on the face.

And Happy Thanksgiving Ya Gitz!!

Heretic Tom

Looking mean n' green. The skin is great and the metals are fantastic. The purple shading in the face really makes those eyes pop.

Wouldn‘t want to get on the wrong side of that ork, he looks like he means business.

Thanks, it was a bit of experimentation but I thought it worked out nicely and gave me a drastically different skin tone from my first ork.

Nice work on that nob! The rusty, grimy metal looks great. And so does the skin, of course, but that recipe... man, that would be tough to apply to an entire horde. But it sure looks pretty when it's done.

Fanatic looks great. One of the models I‘m tempted to pick up in metal on ebay. I believe the version in the GW store is finecast, so that‘s a big no
Did you do something to the chainsword? It looks really nice but the GW webstore version looks bad in contrast, like the teeth of the chainsword melted together.

Thanks! No doubt, these fellas are for a kill team though, so it should be doable

Thank you. I understand what you mean, I definitely liked working with the old metal mini and was lucky enough to grab this when it was still available on the webstore. Nothing special about this chainsword, just painted it up and used some bftbg.

Here's an updated wip pic of this friendly looking fellow..

Nice, looking forward to seeing those. Always enjoyed the Dreadknight honestly, yes it's absurdly impractical but so is literally everything else about Space Marines anyway! Sometimes, you've just gotta dress up as a Transformer and swing an Ogryn-sized hammer at some Demons... And of course that Chaplain is just an all-time classic.

Inquisition chaps continue to look wonderfully dingy and atmospheric.

Thanks Paradigm. I agree about the Dreadknight, I'm not going to start involving logic in this whole space marine thing now, we're well past that point I love mecha of all kinds and fall immediately in love with every model that brings anything close to a mech to 40k. And he'll go nicely with the squad of Grey Knights I'm doing for this Inquisition project. The chaplain is awesome, I guess he'll end up in the Red Hunters squad or maybe with the Grey Knights. He's such a cool mini and will be my first attempt at a resin model.

Here's another Imperial Cult fanatic finished and now it's time to paint the space pope

The fanatic looks good! I like the the worn/scorched leather parts especially, it looks like he’s straight out of the interrogation chamber.

Thanks! He turned out to be one of my favorites from this group, though honestly they're all among my favorites

I'm working on my last Servitor now before moving on to my Red Hunters Captain and, of course, the Space Pope. Wip pics coming soon!

Thanks youwashock, they are a challenge and a lot of fun to paint.

I finished the final servitor for the Inquisitor's Autosavant!

C&C welcome, thanks!

Here's a wip pic of the Red Hunters Captain, this is the last of the minis I originally planned for this squad of Red Hunters. I chose them because of their close affiliation with the Inquisition and because I liked their paint scheme. I may add the newly acquired Chaplain to their ranks as well...

I finished the Captain tonight and did some group shots of the now complete Red Hunters squad for my Inquisition crusade force.

I may still throw my newly acquired Chaplain in with them just to make it an even ten man squad. C&C welcome!

Digging on those Marines. Cool, classic style. The Captain is super good. The sword is a real eye-catcher. Who made the samurai? Is it a Wargames Factory model?

Thanks, I love the old tactical marines. I'm still intimidated by a model as detailed as that Captain, but the simple scheme helps for sure. I didn't want to over do the sword effect on this one because it's already such a busy, dense sculpt and power weapons are one of my favorite things to experiment with when doing 40k minis, this one was simple but really cool I thought.

The samurai are from Warlord Games, from the first edition of Test of Honour, though many of the minis predate TOH and have long been available as a stand alone sprue on their web store.

Merry Christmas everyone!
