Hello, and welcome to my amy blog.
The History:
When a friend first started to get me into 40k, it was the Daemons of Chaos that caught my interest. And so, soon enough, they became my first army. Several of my other friends got into the game at the same time, and we all built armies of 600 points to try out the game without having to buy too many models. I enjoyed playing with the daemons, but also wanted to try out other styles of play, and so put them to the side to work on starting other armies
Fast forward to now, and I have three armies in total, all at roughly 600 points, since that's still the level most of our little group plays at. But we've all been starting to expand towards 1000 and beyond, and I find myself looking back at my daemons and thinking about what they could have been.
Over my time in the hobby, I've discovered a love of converting, of making my models uniquely my own. And while I was working on my other armies, I noticed Mosg's blog (link below), in which he converted an army of cyberdaemons, horrific amalgamations of daemonic flesh and warp-born machine. The seed of an idea was planted.
While I worked on my other armies, I followed Mosg's progress in his blog, and through that, saw CatPeeler's blog (link below as well), which had inspired Mosg. I found myself thinking how wonderful a thing a fully-converted army would be. Unique, personal, and seemingly completely beyond my meagre talents.
Now I find myself ready to start expanding my small forces in large armies, and I look back at my daemons, and know that I have improved my converting and painting skills, and that they no longer seem to truly be what I want from the army. And so, rather than merely add to my daemon army, I have chosen to expand it. But now, the daemon second wave models are (finally) here, Mosg's army, which gave my my first inklings of inspiration, is recently reborn in a new blog. So it seems the perfect time to make a start.
I do not know if my skill will truly be up to the task of making the army as good as I want it to be, but even if it is not, I will at least be able to learn from my attempts. I hope to create an army that looks cool, and which, though I've been inspired by others, is a different enough take on the concept that I can truly say they are unique to me.
The Links:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/260445.page - Mosg's original blog, which gave the idea I haven't been able to get out of my head since.
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/248261.page - CatPeeler's blog, which provided further inspiration.
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/298347.page - Mosg's new blog, where he recently revived and revamped his army.
The above blogs gave me the idea to do this, and showed me that it can, in fact, be done. Though my army may well never be as impressive as theirs (seriously, you should check out their stuff if you haven't already, these guys are geniuses), and I don't in any way wish to simply just copy from them, but rather to create my own take on the same concept, this army would probably never have happened if I hadn't seen these blogs, and the quality of their work is something for me to aspire to.
The Start:
While the concepts for many units in the army have been largely determined, the majority of it is so far still just in my head. I have however, recently made a start on testing my conversion plans on a couple of models. so for your comment and criticism, I begin the army blog proper with these:
Daemonette of Slaanesh
My daemonettes are have been planned for quite a while to have a single, mechanical leg, terminating in a wheel. All the fleet units in the army will have wheels as an indication of possesing this rule. One arm is a traditional daemonette claw, one ends ina curved blade. The helmet/mask is a recent idea I tried out on this model, and am reasonably happy with.

Does the wheel look enough like a wheel to get the idea across? is it about the right size? A friend suggested the small lumps of greenstuff to indicate an axle and make it look more wheel-like - do they help? Sometimes I think I preferred the flat lok of the wheel without them.
Bloodchrusher of Khorne
I knew for a while I wanted my juggernauts to be headless. Somehow, at least in my mind, the idea made them even more menacing - perhaps because it made them seem less alive, and thus less capable of emotion, or indeed anything other than mindless slaughter. When I got my hands on the new plastic kit, I had that idea ready to go, but it didn't end up looking quite as good as I'd hoped. While the juggernaut looked more alien, without a rider to direct it, it looked pointless, like a tool without a wielder. But I had no idea about what to do with the rider. I haven't yet worked out what conversions I want to do for my bloodletters. But in playing with the bits, I came up with the idea of centaurian juggernaut/bloodletter hybrids, and am for the most part, happy with the result.

My only reservation about this guy is that comparatively, the bloodletter torso is a little on the puny side. But overall, I've decided I really like the cetaurian look. What do people think of him? I'm considering buying a box of WFB chaos knights to use are bulkier, more armoured torsos. do you think this would work better? or have any other suggestions?
I intend to get some guitar wire to make a mechanical spine to fill the grove in the back of the bloodletter, connecting him to the more mechanical juggernaut body.
Please give me any feedback which comes to mind.
The Future:
I'm quite busy at the moment, so progress will probably be slow, but I do intend to keep coming back to this blog as I work on the army.
I'll have to take some photos of my soulgrinder conversion at some point, I forgot to when I took the shots of these two.
I'll sort out my ideas for the army as a whole a bit more, and post them here for comment form fellow dakkites.
So that's it for the first post. Let me know what you think.

That centaur is awesome. if you want to bulk it up more you might consider additional armor plates that cover part of the bloodletter's torso.

Thanks for the comments
I'm still not 100% sure about the bloodletter torso being the right size, but I'm glad to see you guys like the idea. I've got my hands on the guitar wire now, so I'm planning to put that on and make a start on painting him tonight. I'll try to get some pics in afterward, even if I don't get it completely finished, so you can see how it looks with some paint on.
I'll also take some pics of my soulgrinder tonight for the blog, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, please give me some more feedback - I'm particularly interested to see what other people think of the daemonette's wheel - leg thing, and of the "helmet" which I'm not really sure about yet. Any suggestions for things to change, or alternative things to try would be greatly appreciated

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, I was unable to get any work done last night after all. I only started this blog a couple of days ago and already I'm failing to deliver .
I might be able to get my bloodcrsher and daemonette painter tonight, but I might not have any free time.
However, I have managed to take enoguh time this morning to get some photos of my soulgrinder of slaanesh, so I can at least post those. Hope you all like them.
Soulgrinder of Slaanesh
I wanted the model to be immediately recognisable as a soulgrinder, as well as leaving no confusion about it's allignment to Slaanesh. I also wanted it to look significantly different to other soulgrinders I'd seen. So far I'm pretty happy with it.
I'm a little unhappy with the face, as in my greenstufing I've accidentally lost some of the detail of the eyes, which I'm going to have to try to fix at some point. The grill over the mouth is because this soulgrinder's mawcannon is in a different maw (see below).
The harvester gun arm. I started with the claw-like soulgrinder arm from the kit, and beefed up the claw a bit. Slaanesh seems to like his/her crab-claws, so I went with that. This is probably the part of the soulgrinder I'm least happy with so far. I'm not exactly sure what I want to change, though.
The mechanical arm on the other side I replaced with two mech-tentacles taken from a Dr Octopus toy. there were four tentacles, and the packaging said they were poseable, but actually only the top two were poseable, having thin wires running through them. the bottom two weren't, and didn't even have a hole to insert a wire into inside them. I was disappointed, but only really needed two of them here. One would look a little puny, and three would be too busy. I'd hoped to keep the others for potential use on a keeper of Secrets ad some point, but oh well.
Long, flexable, tentacle-like mechanical parts are one of the themes for the slaaneshi part of my army. I wanted both the fleshy and mecahnical parts of my daemons to have a distinct look for each god. Slaanesh gets flexable parts, and curvy, round bits, without hard edges. Most of the metal parts on the slaaneshi daemons will be painted gold.
The front of the torso is when the most converting has been done. Adding the breasts was pretty much the first thing I did with the kit. I just cut that piece from the sprue and got to work with the greensuff. I was very much a novice to greenstuffing at the time (I still am, I suppose, but I'm getting a lot better). After that I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with the rest of it, so it got put to the sidelines for a while. Once I'd settled on the idea of a fully-converted army of cyberdaemons, I went back to it and decided on the rest of the conversions I've done. The most striking of which is almost certainly the vertical mouth on the lower torso which houses the mawcannon. I tried to make sure it looked like an actual mouth (the 'upper' lip - actually the left lip - has a philtrum, for example). However, the 'vertical mouth' concept is clearly and intentionally reminiscent of *ahem* other anatomical parts. I think the contrast between that imagery and the phallic symbolism of the large gun extending from it (which actually has a vein on top), fits Slaanesh pretty well. Reactions from my playgroup have been pretty positive, although I'm aware some people might think I've taken it a little far. Feel free to give your opinion.
The barrel of the gun is from a ballpoint pen, and the end comes from a cheap plastic cap-gun. The tongue is greenstuff supported by a bent paperclip. Obviously this soulgrinder has the tongue weapon upgrade
This last photo is sideways to show the mouth looking more like... well, a mouth.
So that's my soulgrinder as it stands at the moment. I think it's close to being ready to paint, but there are a couple of things I'd like to improve a little first, mostly around the eyes and the big claw. I guess I'm not overly happy with the shoulder where the tentacle arms join to the body, either.
What do you think? I'd really like some feedback on this guy - I've put a lot of work into him, and it'd be great to hear some opinions.
If I have free time tonight I'll get some paintign done on the test models of my daemonette and bloodcrusher, in which case I'll post pictures afterwards, even if I don't get them finished.

Just a quick post, since I promised to take photos of what I got done. Ended up losing track of time last night and painting til 2am, so I just put everything away and left getting photos on here until the morning. Here's what I have so far: Over the course of painting, the Daemonette's sword-arm fell off, so I took the opportunity to shorten it, so the blade now only goes from the little curve to the tip, without the bit behind that. The bloodletter torso fell of the centaur-naut as well, and I'm leaving it off for now because it makes it easier to paint (attached with Blu-tack for the purpose of taking the photo). The colour scheme on the juggernaut is necron abyss and dwarf bronze. the bronze has been washed with gryphonne speia, but it didn't seem to have much effect, I'm thinking of trying delvin mud next. The markings were done in blood red. The daemonette skin is a mix of hawk turquoise and bleached bone, with a little bit of skill white added. The armour is burnished gold and liche purple, with warlock purple in the marking in the centre of the torso. The claw is hawk turquoise, with regal blue on the outside edges. Neither is finished, and both need quite a bit of cleaning up in places, but there's enough there for you to get the idea of where I'm going at the moment. Neither colour scheme is set in stone, I'm just trying ideas, so feel freee to suggest changes or other things to try. There've been a lot of views, but only two people other than myself have commented, so I'm keep asking questions in the hope of getting more feedback. What do people think so far? Am I doing well? Am I completely insane? Does anyone have any ideas for how I should paint the bloodletter? (I sure don't) If you have anything to say, good or bad, or any suggestions to give about any of the models I've posted so far, please do.

Nice work. I suggest fileing off the fingerprints left on the Soul Grinder's GS.

Thanks for the words of encouragement
@Tim the Biovore: Yeah, I do need to smooth it off at some point, particularly on the claw. I have some files and also sandpaper to attempt this with shen I get round to it.
I've made some progress on the bloodcrusher. I've done a second coat of Necron Abyss, which has made the colour much more even and less blotchy, and I've washed the bronze parts with Delvin Mud, which has brought out some of the detail more.
Unfortunately the I can't seem to take pictures which shoe the colour the same as it looks in person, but the two below are the ones which come closest.

Still need to paint and reattach the the bloodletter torso sometime to see how that looks. I'm thinking of either going with a traditional red colour, or maybe with a fleshy tone. Any opinions or other suggestions?

I simply LOVE the paint scheme on the bloodcrusher.

Post by: CodGod
Thanks, LeBaron
I ah originally intended to do it mostly in black, with red in the markings on the legs (because while I like to make my colour schemes unique, you can't do a Khorne model without SOME red, right?), but once I sat down to paint I decided to see how a dark blue colour looked contrasted against the red, and I'm very happy with the result.
I should be able to get some painting done tonight, so I'll hopefully have the bloodletter torso painted and reattached, and get some photos to post. Stay tuned

I finished up the bloodcrusher test model. I went for redish flesh tone on the bloodletter, with just red on the horns, etc. Sorry, I did take a pic from the front, which showed the bloodletter torso quite well, but I missed that one when I started uploading them from the camera it seems. I'll add that one when I get home tonight. I also apologise for some of the pics being in the shadow of the camera, it was hard to avoid in the time I had due to the angle of the sun. I've just recently gotten a replacement desk lamp, though, so I can get out my old daylight bulb and use that to take photos with in future.

So what do people think? Should I just go with this and make up the other two from the box the same? Any suggestions on what works or what doesn't? Does the fleshy colour work against the dark blue, ro should I try something else?
As always, all comments and criticism appreciated.

I'm fine with the colour palette, but the area where the juggarnaut's head should be still looks like a head, down for a ramming, as opposed to another piece of armour.
Elsewise, I'm liking your work; keep it up!

I think the color scheme is good though where the Bloodcrusher and the Bloodletter meet it looks a bit thick. Other then that, looks amazing.

Thanks for the comments, guys.
I'm going to try to make the division between the bloodletter and juggernaut look better next time I get an opportunity to paint.
And yeah, it does still look a bit like a head. I'm going to try to do that differently on the next one and see what I can come up with.
I got the front on photo uploaded, so here it is.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Update time!
I tried to blend the blue of the juggernaut and the flesh of the bloodletter to make it look like the metal morphed into flesh around the join, but it didn't look right. So instead I made it a hard divide, with all the greenstuff around the bloodletter being part of the flesh, and added rivets/nails be make it look like the flesh around the lower torso of the bloodletter has been spread out, and roughly nailed into place atop the juggernaut - which seems like a very khornate way of doing things
These pictures are the best I could take of them, but since they're very small, they stlill don't show up really well.

What do you all think? I'm pretty close to calling this guy done. While he was intended as the test model for the concept, I definately think he's good enough to use in the actual army, which is nice. I will however, on the future models, try to reduce the head-like nature of the front of the juggernaut, since as Lord Kaesar II pointed out, it still looks a bit like a head, which isn't the look I'm going for.

Whoa, these are fantastic! Dunno how I missed this thread I think it'll be worth picking out details like horns and teeth when you're painting, but the modelling (in particular that terrifying behemoth slaanesh thing and the daemonette) is top notch. I'll be following this for sure

Post by: monkeytroll
Interesting stuff here I'll be keeping an eye on this.
Prefer the join on the centaur now with the nailed down flesh, but agree that the front armour plate is a little too head-like, maybe try extending it up the bloodletter's torso on the next one. Daemonette's pretty cool, and liking the soul-grinder, some peeps are going to think it's a little too much, but it is Slaanesh after all
And don't worry too much about a lack of comments, it often takes a while for feedback and replies to start rolling in.

Post by: CodGod
Thanks guys.
@Scarper: I'm definitely a modeller more than a painter, I enjoy it more and I think I'm better at it. But I still like the painting and I'm trying to improve. I'll definately try picking out more of the details on the bloodcrusher. I just bouoght a darker red paint so I can make the horns look more distinct from the flesh, so I'll see how that goes.
@monkeytroll: Thanks for the compliment. I've had a look at your P&M blogs here, and they're really impressive, so coming from you that seems like high praise Hoping to have time to read over your threads in full at some point.
In the meantime, I've started work on my second bloodcrusher. I've cut back the juggernaut neck significantly more, to reduce the head-like-ness of the plate at the front (which no longer quite covers the hole, but with a little extra greenstuff it does the job). I've also modelled the nails holding the bloodletter onto the juggernaut this time, so I don't have to build them up afterwards on this one.

What do you think so far? Have I reduced the headishness enough? are the nails too over the top now? better/worse than the last?
Looking forward to hearing form all of you

Hi guys. Sorry for the lack of updates. I'm going to another city for a few days tomorrow for a job interview, and have been busy sorting everything out and getting ready.
I did get some painting done last night, so I'm putting up a quick WIP shot of what I have so far.
I've started painting the second and third of my bloodcrushers - and when doing the thrid one I realised ho much easier it would be to assemble and paint if I didn't attach the legs until later, so I'm painting the legs for that one separately. It was definitely much easier to get the bloodletter torso in position, so I'll be doing the this way from now on.
I won't be be able to do any more work until I get back on Tuesday evening, and I may be too tired from the flight then, I don't know. But certainly after that I'll get back to it and hopefully have some more progress to show you all.

I'm back, and I've made some progress on the bloodcrushers.
Here's the first one again, except that I've significantly increased the darkening of the horns as they get further from the body, and picked out the teeth in bleached bone with a delvin mud wash. The eyes are currently just chaos black, I plan to go over them with a gloss varnish after the models have been sealed with a spray-on matt varnish. I think the shiny black look will be good for their eyes

Here's the second one all painted up. You can see in the second photo the bolts holding the flesh onto the juggernaut body, which I think look much better that the tiny ones I added to the first one when I first came up with the idea.

And here's the third one, again, the bolts look much better that the first one, since they were modelled on from the beginning. This is the one where I realised I could make it much easier to do by not attaching the legs until after painting.
And here's a shot of all three together.
I'll need to do the bases for these guys sometime soon, and I think I want to touch up the faces a bit more, but my FLGS just got in the plasticard tubing I ordered for my first daemon prince conversion, so I may well be distracted by that for a bit
As always, comments and criticism appreciated.

Started work on my Daemon Prince of Slaanesh today. Here's the progress so far: The torso. greenstuffed to add the breast and cover the chaos undivided symbol. The head, with tentacle. I'm not sold on this, but I had no other use for the tail piece, so I decided to see how it looked. I'll reserve final judgement until I have the body mostly done and can see how it looks there. Also considering chopping off the end and greenstuffing a new one to shorten it. The start of the lower body. electrical cords/wires of various sizes pushed into greenstuff, which was formed around a metal wire base. There will be segments of armoured plating made from plasticard tubing over this, but with gaps where these wires show though. The torso will be where the little hooky bit is on the end of the wire, and I'm not yet sure what I'll do with the end of the tail, although I was thinking of maybe having the tail end in a tyranid sycthing talon. Still a fair way to go on this one, obviously. Any comments/criticism appreciated.

This one looks as if it'll be one of your best yet. Loving the electrical cord/wire tail.

Thanks LeBaron!
I'm hoping to have it mostly together on Thursday night, in preparation for painting over the weekend.
The idea for the tail has been rolling around my head for a while, so I really want to see what it looks like when it's finished.

Post by: Sageheart
love the tail, but that breast seems a bit too big, but may just be the pic
15128
Post by: CodGod
I wasn't sure on the breast size - I couldn't seem to get it looking "right", whereas on the soulgrinder, I got it to the point where I felt like I knew it was right. I think it'll look okay once the body's attached to that tail, which will make the prince look bigger, but I may have to cut it off and try again if it looks wrong there.
23589
Post by: Sageheart
Yeah, i would see what it looks like with the model all put together since at the moment i think it is as big as the creature's head, which may be demon like (the various bodyparts not fitting our standards of size, if that makes sense) it may look silly. i love the idea of it though. its nice to see someone use the DP model for something new!
15128
Post by: CodGod
I think part of the problem is to me at least, the head of the daemon prince seems a little small for the size of the torso. I suppose that's to emphasize that it's a big muscle-bound death machine rather than a big-brained contemplative thinker, but I think the exaggerated proportions are a part of why I found it hard to get the breast looking the right size.
Or maybe I just haven't seen a real breast recently enough
15128
Post by: CodGod
Thursday evening update, right on schedule. Or maybe not, since it's now so late that it's technically Friday morning. Oh well.
Made progress on the Slaanesh Daemon Prince:
As you can see, I've got the armour segments over the wires of the tail now, have attached the torso (now with wings), and added a Tyranid scything talon to the end of the tail. Still need to fix up the join between the torso and tail a bit. I'm more happy with the breast now that I see it's size in comparison to the whole model, although I think the shape is still slightly off. I'm inclined to leave it that way since I'm not sure I'll be able to do any better (or even as well) on a second attempt. Opinions?
Here I'm holding the head in place to see how it looks on the body. I think the tentacle on the back of the head is too long, and needs to be shortened to finish just beyond where the ridges stop, but again, I'm looking for second opinions on this stuff.
I'm also considering leaving this guy without arms - I could greenstuff over the shoulders, and just let him have the tail for a weapon instead. If I do go with arms, I think I'd have a mechanical whip sort of thing in the right hand (can convert from one of the various weapon-holding hands and a flexible mech-tentacle thing I got from a cheap PC microphone), with a scorpion tail (or something equally vicious looking) at the tip. I'm not sure what to do with the left hand - I don't want it to be another close combat weapon (since DPs don't get 2 CCWs, and anyway he already has a blade on his tail) but I also don't just want an empty hand. If the right hand holds a whip, I'd prefer the left arm not to have a hadn at all, but to terminate in some form of tech-thingie, maybe a weapon, maybe not. Was considering having the arm end with a missle launcher I have left over from my drop pod, but I'm not sure. Would really appreciate ideas on how to kit this guy out. I'd definately prefer to have one arm be a hand holding a weapon, and the other not a hand, but jsut ending in some form of cyber-dodad, but not really sure what. Any ideas for the left arm, or suggestions other than a whip for the right arm weapon, please let me know! Or should I just let him go without arms entirely?
In other news, while trying out the various arms to see how they looked, I realised that the daemon prince kit has multiple options for everything except the legs (which I haven't used) and the back half of the torso (which seems reasonably easy to replace with greenstuff and kitbashing. So I think I can make another daemon prince from this kit
I played around with some blu-tak and got something I quite like for a Nurgle DP using rotor blades from a deffkopter (convineiently, but somewhat sadly, dropped off this evening by a friend leaving the hobby), a back plate from a Carnifex, and a hatch from a space marine tank. Unfortunately, it's nearly 2am (I was supposed to be in bed by 1), and that batch of images are going to take a while to upload. So I'll leave them uploading and go get some rest, then post them when I have time tomorrow, probably sometime after lunch.
In the meantime, any comments on the Slaanesh DP are welcome and encouraged, especially regarding how (or if) to arm him, and opinions of the breast and head, or other aspects of the conversion work.
CodGod out - for now.

@AZ2612: Thanks I don't think I'm THAT amazing, but you should definitely try your hand at converting your models sometime, it's really fun, and not as hard as it seems at first. EDIT: And I see you're doing 'nids - brilliant. A very fun army to put together, and the possibilities for conversions are almost endless. @LeBaron: Yeah, I've set aside a couple of armour pieces from the DP kit which I think I can put around there to help make the join look a little better. I'll be having a go at that tonight, with any luck And here are the pics I promised of the concept mock-up for my Daemon Prince of Nurgle: The front looks pretty much like a normal prince... The upper back is a carnifex back plate, and rotor blades from a deffkopta as wings. The plan is to actually have two blades on each side, overlapping at the top but spread out slightly at the bottom, but it was easy to just use one each side on the concept model. They're supposed to be reminiscent of fly wings - do you think they work for that? The Nurgle daemons will probably be using a lot of ork bitz, I want the mechanical parts to look covered in rust and like they're constantly on brink of falling apart. Below that is a hatch from a SM tank (which will need to be roughed up a bit). I plan to have an appendage stick out from the hatch, but looking like it could be pulled back in for safe keeping. Probably a stinger of some sort, dripping with poison - seems pretty Nurgly to me, but I'm interested to hear if any of you have other suggestions. And here are some side shots so you can see where the bits are roughly in relation to each other. Obviously I'll need a decent amount of greenstuff in the middle to form the torso, and I'll have to try to sculpt it to look right.. But If I pull it off I'll have gotten two Daemon Princes from one kit, for which my wallet will thank me.

Thanks guys. Made a little progress tonight, got the join between the body and tail of the Slaanesh DP covered over with some spare 'nid parts, and have started putting together the Nurgle DP - wings attached to back plate, hatch attached to torso and I've got a stinger pointing out of it. I'll post some pics in the morning. Automatically Appended Next Post: Progress on Nurgle Prince:
Here are the two main parts of the prince, the legs/torso front with the hatch now attached, and the back plat with wings.
A close up of the hatch, with stinger. I've added vein-like growths across the hatch doors to make it look less "clean"
And here are two shots of the parts together. The back plate will be angled slightly more than this on the finished models, with the wings being slightly higher at the back.

Small update: Slaanesh DP weapons The end of the mechano-whip is supposed to look like a scopion's stinger, although I don't think I got it quite right. And since I didn't want to give him another weapon in his other hand, I've gone for a shield made from plasticard and greenstuff. The shield is fused to the end of the arm, rather than being held. Also made a little more process on the Nurgle DP (he has one arm, and I've started building a scythe for him to hold in the other. If people want to see it I can take pics, but otherwise I'll leave it until I've made a bit more progress on him. I won't have any time to work on my models until Tuesday evening at the earliest, but will be checking back here, so in the meantime, C & C are welcome, as always.

I love the head on the slaanesh prince. Dont change it!

Post by: CodGod
@LeBaron: Thanks! The bug wings were an idea from my friend - I was thinking of having a rotor blade on his back. I'm glad he suggested it, as I think they've really worked out. As far as going Nurgle justice goes, do you have any ideas so a good Nurgly-looking head? I don't want to just use one of the standard ones from the kit without modding it, but I'm not sure what to do.
@MADLarkin: Thanks for the comments. I'm glad you like my work. As far as the breast goes, I'm still not sure whether to leave it as is or try to redo it. I do think it's slightly too big, but not very much, and I'm a little afraid that if I remove it and try again I'll end up making it worse. So I'm still thinking about that one, although I'll need to make a decision soon, as if I'm going to do a new breast, it'll have to be before I attach the head.
@ghosty: I'm really glad you like my work, but unfortunately I have already shortened the tentacle on the Slaanesh prince's head a bit. I had greenstuff left over from the work I was doing on the Nurgle prince, and since I didn't want it to go to waste and I'd been thinking of doing it, I decided to give it a go. looking at it now I have to admit I'm not 100% sure if it was an improvement or not. Here's a pic of the new head, note that it does actually curl up a bit at the end more than it looks from this angle.
What do you think - is it better/worse? Have I screwed up and should I try to extend it again? I'm really not sure. I thought I'd like it more than I did once I'd done it.

I'm really liking the slaanesh DP. The breast does seem a bit mishapen. If you are going to be relying very heavily on gs for this army i feel it would be a worthy investment to pick up some sculpting tools. It would really smooth out your gs and look 1000x better.

Hmm... the end of the headtail seems a bit fat just yet, but besides that it still works with a shorter tail. And for your Nurgly prince, how about having a head with some large pipes/ wires hanging out at random places, dripping toxic slop? I'm thinking something like the Plaguereaper but with, of course, the 'organic' components of a daemon

Like what you've got so far on both those DPs, but I do think it'll probably be worth re-doing that breast slightly smaller. At the moment I think once the model is done that's going to detract from all the other goodness going on there. Preferred the longer head tail, but the shorter one still works, just a personal preference
15128
Post by: CodGod
Thanks guys. Seems the consensus is I should redo the breast, so I'm going to have a go at that on Tuesday evening. I do need to sand down the join between the plastic and greenstuffed parts of the head tentacle, because it's a little thinker there than it should be.
@TheChronoTrigger: I do have some sculpting tools, but for some things I find it much easier to work with my fingers, because I can feel how much pressure I'm putting on, and not push it too far. The main tools I use are a pair of clay shapers (which are shat I mostly used on the breast, but also my fingers), but unfortunately they're a little larger than I'd like for some of my work because I haven't found anywhere down here which sells them in the smaller sizes. I also have some basic plastic tools, but I don't use them much since getting the clay shapers.
@Lord Kaesar II: That's not a bad idea for the head, thanks. I'll keep it in mind.

Hmmm... I'd have to say for a Nurgle head on that sort of a body (the whole organic/mech combo) I'd have to go with something that looks to be a mix of Adeptus and Deamon.
Your DP reminds me of an Oblit with the mixture you have now so an Oblit style head would fits perfectly. Just remember to add decay and rot to the organic portion of your Nurgle DP head.
15128
Post by: CodGod
Thanks, LeBaron. I've never seen the oblit's head before, but I took a look at some in the gallery, and I think I see what you mean. Would be quite tricky to do, but could look really nice. One thing I have been thinking of is trying to tie into the "bug" look from this wings a bit on the face - maybe with a compound eye or something. I also kind of like the idea of having the bottom jaw missing, as though it's rotted off - but I don't know how well I'll be able to achieve that look on that scale. I'll have a dig through the bits box for inspiration on Tuesday.

Tomb spyder face with extra bits and bobs, then
15128
Post by: CodGod
Thanks Lord Kaesar II! Another one which I hadn't seen in person before, but having checked out the tomb spider face in the gallery, that looks really good. I really like that on one side it has three eyes, arranged pretty much like the symbol of Nurgle.
For now, I think that's the plan then - obtain a tomb spider head, leave the side with three eyes as is, and greenstuff flesh over the other half, possibly with one large compound eye, although I'd like it to also look somewhat human as well.
Of course, that means I now have to buy a tomb spider, which means waiting a little bit until I can afford more models. On the plus side, the rest of the spider also looks like it could be quite useful for cyberdaemon conversions. The legs look quite nice, and I could potentially use the back part as part of a Chariot of Tzeentch. So at least I can tell myself I'm not buying a whole tomb spider just for it's face

Progress has been made!
First, the Nurgle prince:
The head is going to have to wait until I either get a tomb scorpion head, or find an idea I like better for a Nurgly conversion.
The weapon he's holding will be a scythe. I'll need to pick up some rod to form a new, longer handle for it.
Here you can see the wings and the hatches for the stinger. I drilled out the stinger with my dremel tool to make it look more capable of pumping toxins into victims.
And here's the head of the scythe, converted from plasticard and the axe from the Daemon Prince kit.
This guy's getting pretty close to finished, apart from the head. Let me know what you think.
I won't still be up by the time they finish uploading, but expect pics of the Slaanesh prince tomorrow, I was finishing him off while these pics uploaded. He's almost entirely done now, with a redone breast, and the head tentacle back to the original length - wasn't happy with the shorter one, but found the bit I'd cut off and with a little pinning and greenstuff, was able to get it back. So look forward to seeing him to.
In the meantime, What do you think of ol' Nugly here?

Post by: Lord Kaesar II
Your Nurgle dp is going well, besides that, as always, I must say I find that left arm kinda silly. Myself, I'd just go for a class Nurgly 2 armed swish of the scythe. But, arm gripes aside, he's turning out quite well!
15128
Post by: CodGod
@Lord Kaesar II: Thanks! I'd considered trying to reposition the arms so that he could hold the scythe in both hands, but it seemed like it was going to be quite tricky, and that arm was the only left arm I had after using the other one on the Slaanesh prince. I actually kind of like the look of it although if I am considering removing the hand and converting something else in it's place. I have no idea what. Here's the pics I promised of the Slaanesh prince: First look at him with the arms on, and also the first pic I've posted since adding the 'nid parts to cover the join between the tail and torso. Rejoice, lovers of the original head, it's back, nearly as good as new! The details on the shield are supposed to look vaguely organic. The shield arm. And of course the whip arm. Here you can see the little radar dish from the SM Whirlwind, which I used because I couldn't get one of the 'nid parts to fit in and cover that part of the join. I just grabbed that because it looked the right size/shape and was vaguely technological. Note the details on the shield extend to the back as well (they didn't before last night - I really shoud have thought of doing that BEFORE attaching the arm). Top down view. As you can see, both the shield and whip extend noticeably beyond the base, although the whip as least is high enough that it won't matter. This shot makes the whip look way longer than it actually is. These last two are close ups, in particular you can see the new, smaller breast. Nipple still to come. Another close up, this time from the side. Some of the greenstuff needs sanding down a bit. So there you have it, let me know what you think!

Wonderful work as always. The shield is sick, absolutely love how it's looking. Quite creative with the nid parts covering the waist, it gives it a more armor/organic look.

Great looking DP's although I would have to agree with Kaesar when he says that the left arm on the nurgle price looks silly, that is just the way it is sculpted though. If you did want to remove the hand, I hear that father Nurgle does like his tentacles!

Post by: CodGod
Thanks guys! Glad you like them. One thing I haven't managed to pull off is that I was thinking of having the Nurgle daemons mechanical parts have some hints at clockwork - not that they'd full on look like clockwork daemons, just some hints here and there - because the way clockwork slowly and inevitably winds down and runs out seems very much in line with ol' Papa Nurgle and the way he works. So if I remove the hand I might try to find some cogs and things and see if I can rig up something on the end of the arm which fits that aesthetic.

Looking great. I think the Tomb Spyder head idea is great though I don't think adding a compound eye ontop of the tri Tomb Spyder eye would look too good. Well, not in my head anyways. I'd have to see it WIP before I could say it's not a good idea don't use it. The rest looks amazing though!

Thanks LeBaron, glad you like it.
I'm still not entirely sure what I'm doing with the tomb spider head, the ideas are sort of floating around in my head half-formed. I'll need to get one in my hands before I really work out what to do with it. so at this point I'm more brainstorming a general idea than making a real plan.
I need to get my FLGS to order in a few btiz packs for me sometime so I can make more of the daemonettes, and also try out the conversions I have planned for my flamers.
In the meantime, does anyone havbe any idea what I should do for my Horrors of Tzeentch? I want to work from the new plastic models - I know they're getting a lot of hate, and I do prefer the look of the old metal ones, but, and this is important - they're plastic. Plastic is MUCH easier to work with for conversions, especially on the small scale, and I want to keep as much of the army plastic as possible. I have the box sitting there, but no real idea of what to do with them. I'll probably clip one of the sprue and put it together while having my bitz box open in front of me, just in case inspiration strikes. But if anyone can suggest an interesting conversion, please do.
All I know is I want the mechanical parts of my Tzeentch daemons to look futuristic and high-tech - probably I'll use quite a few tau parts on the Tzeentch stuff, and maybe some eldar bitz as well. I have a general idea for the flamers, and to a lesser extend for some of the other models, but not idea what to do with the horrors, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Some of the new Dark Eldar stuff would be excellent for the horrors, make them cable monsters with wiring and cable coming out of everywhere the image in my head has it running at something with the wires clipping the walls and floor arching out they would certainly live up to their name, you could gouge out sections of flesh and embed wires so it's like the cords and coils are writhing under it's flesh, bursting out here and there.

Post by: CodGod
Thanks guys @Santobell: Which of the Dark Eldar things were you thinking of in particular for the horrors? I've been playing with the horror models tonight, and so far I'm not really happy with anything I've come up with. I've been working on Santobell's suggestion of "cables" and tried different ways and places of having cables stick out, none of which I think look very good. They're just rough concepts, just me playing around to see what works (or at least what doesn't). Pics: So yeah. We have one who's hand turns into cables, and has more cables coming from his armpit, one with cables sticking out of his body and using some of them as legs, and one spewing cables out it's mouth. Not my best work, I really just not 'feeling' these guys, so I don't really know what I'm doing with them, and they've ended up like this. If anyone wants to see one of these guys close up, let me know and I'll take more pics. Any suggestions on what to do with horrors? or maybe on other models to convert horrors from?
12212
Post by: Lord Kaesar II
can't say myself about the horrors, besides that they could work if you put some flame effect at the ends of the wires, or possibly some visualization of lightnining. I just get electricity from mechanical daemons, call it crazy. I just like to bring up a favorite wuote of mine at times like this: The house is an elevator to hell with ghosts in the gas tank! (Sluggy Freelance... anyone?...)
15128
Post by: CodGod
I think I'm gonna put the horrors to one side for now until I get a better idea of what I want to do with them (That said, if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know). I've got a tomb spider and a few other bits and pieces on order at my FLGS, so in a couple of weeks at most I'll be able to finish off the Nurgle Prince and make a start on my flamers among other things.
Assuming all goes well tonight I'll have finished the Nurgle prince's scythe and be able to post up some pics of that for you all.

Post by: CodGod
Progress!
Was thinking about Commander Cain's suggestion that a tentacle would be a good replacement for the hand, and then reaslised that while it would be tricky to mod the prince to hold the scythe in two hands, one hand and a tentacle would be significantly easier. So that's what I went with.

Tentacle needs some touching up, as does the hand, and the attachment of the blade to the scythe - all of these being places where I broke it in the process of getting the scythe (a) into his grip and (b) pointing in vaguely the right direction.

I haven't been able to work on my hobbies for a while due to covering a friend's shifts at work over the weekend when I'd usually be working on my models. But I got a little painting done last night, so here's the initial painting on the Slaanesh prince:
Obviously still very much WIP at this stage, but gives an idea of what I'm going for. The colour scheme is pretty similar to the Daemonette, as will be the rest of my Slaanesh stuff.
In other news, tomorrow is payday (including extra money for those shifts I covered) and the models & bitz I've ordered from my FLGS should have arrived, so I'll hopefully be able to start work on the Nurgle prince's head this weekend, as well as working on my Flamer test model, and getting more of the bitz I need to make a squad of the daemonettes.

Yeah the tentacle's still a bit off. It's thick in some places and thin in others, and isn't as round as I'd like (the cross section is sort of an oval rather than a circle). I need to try to fix it up but it was hard enough getting it holding the scythe in the first place that I've put it off for a bit. Rest assured I'll try to get back to it.
Depending how things go, I might even get some work done on the head and posted here tonight.

I should really stop trying to predict when I'll get work done on my army, as life always seems to get in the way
But better late than never, and I've managed to get some work done on the Nurgle DP's head today.
I want to do some more detail on the fleshy half of the face once this is dry and I can add to it, but it will still look somewhat like it's melting/oozing off. I tried to make it reminicent of a skull.
Since I couldn't sculpt anything I liked for a mouth, I opted for a feeding tube, which attaches to his chest, as can be seen in this pic:
Not quite as good as I was hoping, overall - I need more practice at sculpting details at a scale this small. But I think I can work with it by adding a bit to it.
Any C & C welcome.

@kaiservonhugal: I'm actually trying to go for a harder transition on the bloodcrushers - the idea is that when the bloodletters are 'upgraded' with juggernaut bodies, all the important connection stuff happens with their insides, but the flesh is attached simply by stretching out the flesh around the join, and then nailing it onto the top of the juggernaut. When I do more of them, I want to try to make the distinction more obvious when modelling, but having the greenstuff around the join not so smooth against the juggernaut, but having a ragged edge to look more like torn flesh.

Post by: CodGod
Sorry about the lack of progress. I'm moving to another city at the end of the year, and have been busy getting ready and finishing things up. I'm not sure how much more I'll manage to get done before I pack my modelling stuff up for transport, but once I'm set up in my new place I should be able to start posting updates more regularly.
In the meantime I need to focus on things like packing up my stuff and actually finding a place to live up there.
I have however managed to make a little progress - I've undercoated the Nurgle Prince (didn't bother taking a picture - he looks pretty much the same but white, and with a small grating added to disguise the join between the face and feeding tube) and started a batch of bases, which I've attached a pic of for your consideration:
The bases are made out of my parents old cork placemats, with a layer of fine grit glued on top with PVA glue. They've been basecoated in black and the lava channels have had a first coat in Mecharite red foundation paint. I'll be doing more red/orange layers on the lava, and drybrushing the surface with codex grey to show the texture better.

Really should be putting more effort into packing, but did this instead
Current progress on the Nurgle DP. skin is rotting flesh with a gryphonne sepia wash.. Metal parts (currently just wings painted) are intended to look rusty and old, I think I'm getting there.
hard non-metal parts (e.g. carnefex bankplate, etc) will be painted to look like boney plates.
Still a lot to do on this guy, probably won't be able to finish him before I move.
Any C & C welcome.

I'm back!
Sorry for the delay, but it's taken me some time to get myself set up in a new city, and adapt to my new job, which leaves me less time for my hobbies. But I've managed to get the ball rolling again, if a little slowly, so I'm officially declaring this modeling blog back in progress.
On to the pictures!
Here's the Nurgle DP in his current state. Still a fair bit to do on him, but he's coming along reasonably nicely.
From this angle you can get a better look at his scythe, which while not exactly how I'd pictured it, I'm mostly happy with.
And here's a close up on the scythe. Basecoat was a mix of Dark Angels Green and Chaos Black, edging done in Dark Angels, then Snot, and finally with Scorpion green. The skull will be done to match the bony parts of the prince.
And here he is from the back, in all his rusty glory.
Any comments or criticism gratefully appreciated - I'm hoping that this blog will help motivate me to keep going on this project and not just let it slide.

I'm in the same boat as you, kind of. I find it massively helpful getting comments in my WIP thread, as it really drives me to carry on. Of course, it's kinda a double edged sword (Or a similar analogy) as sometimes, when you get maybe 1 or even no comments from your work that your proud of, it really degrades your motivation, and makes you wonder why other peoples threads are so successful, and how yours always hits page 2 before the end of the day...
Sorry.
Regardless, I'm loving the nurgle Prince. Especially the insect wing style you've given him. It's certainly meshing technology with the Daemonic very successfully! I eagerly await more

Yay, your back! Been following this since the begining, but have always been too busy to post. As a fellow painter turned modeller (who recently got back into the Blog game), I shall critique your work. I really like the Nurgle deamon prince. The inventive jetpack/wing assortment is very ingenuative and stylistic. It suits as being of Papa Nurgle very well. Overall the modelling is excellent and has inspired me to try some more adventurous convertions for my Ogyrn Obliterators. The metallics are great and you have captured the rust very well. I think that the flesh of the beast could easily be improved and so could the daemon sythe. But as you said, it is still a work in progress.

Thanks everyone!
I'm not happy with the skin myself, both because it doesn't have the depth to look "real" and because it's too similar to the bone plates and they don't stand out against it well enough. While in my head I liked the idea of using a very subdued colour scheme for nurgle flesh, I think I'm going to have to redo it with more greenishness.
I'm really happy with the wings myself, although I they are a little small compared to a 'standard' daemon prince set of wings, so in terms of playing with him I'll probably need to remember to point out they're wings in case the opponent doesn't notice. And the rust fortunately turned out better than I expected, although I need to touch up the chest armour as the rust there isn't as nicely varied as on his back.
Also need to touch up the Slaanesh prince at some point and get him based - hopefully int he not-to-distant future!

nice to see your back! I always loved this blog!
The skin is iffy to me, I agree it doesn't have the depth to look "real" as you put it. Maybe instead of going the greenish route, try a more human skin look, highlight it with bright skin color, and make it greenish around the bone plates so it looks infected, i'm thinking skaven crazy animal creation stufff, abomination i think their called. The green skin stuff is very nurgle, but I've always been more fascinated by the idea of the creatures being crafted out of various skins and creatures, that seems more nurgle to me than just a big green mucus blob which is the current nurgle sterotype (though they do look fething cool sometimes!)
the rust is awesome, love the wings, they are a bit small, but whatever, they look cool and that's all that matters!

Good looking! That Slaanesh Prince model really caught my eye- the head and the sectioned snake tail... good stuff! I'll be keeping an eye out on this one for inspiration!

Hi again!
@ HF IZanagi: Welcome to my blog! I'm glad you like my work. I just checked out some of your pics in the gallery, and I have to say, if anything I've done could be considered inspiration for someone with your talent, I'm honoured. I wish I could paint half as well as you.
@Sageheart: ...Damn. That actually sounds really awesome. I went with the pale look initially to try to get away from the traditional Nurgley green, but having seen it on the model I didn't feel it was working, so I've gone with a greener scheme to see how it looks. Wish I'd seen your post first now, as I think that could actually look really nice (although I do tend to suck at flesh tones ). I'm not 100% sold on the current look yet, so I might have to try bringing it towards a more flesh tone next time if I decide to change it up again.
Anyway, on with the pics:
Here he is in his new skin. Still trying not to go for a bright, in-your-face green, I went over the skin with Camo Green, then drybrushed with Rotting Flesh (which was the old skin colour). I then used a wash of Gryphone Sepia, but instead of brushing it over and letting the wash fall into the recesses as I usually do, I was much more controlled in only applying it into the recesses, which I think helped add to the depth, at least in some places.
I've also added green to the slits in the armour and mouthpiece, rusted the armour on his right arm, and the more observant amongst you might have noticed he has a bit more of a twinkle in his eyes now... let's get closer...
Isn't he cute?
I layered the eyes in Dark Angels Green, then Snot Green, then Scorpion Green, keeping closer to the middle each time. I'm quite happy with the effect, and the face looks a lot more face-like with the eyes defined better. And I still love that the three eyes on the tomb spider head pretty much form the mark of Nurgle.
So what do people think of the new skin? I definitely think it's an improvement, but is it good enough?
Also, bonus participation round! Does anyone happen to have some of the WFB Wood Elf Dryad bits lying around? I've had an idea, but I'd prefer not to shell out for a box of them 'til I have a better idea whether it'll work... If anyone happens to have such bits, I'd be interested in seeing what the Dryad's arms look like when placed with the arm sticking upwards and the tips of the fingers resting on the ground, like spindly legs. Also, A similar request for the heads, with the "hair-branches: downwards as legs. Thanks in advance if anyone can do this for me.

The eyes look pretty striking, but the mould lines on the bicep are detracting from the grungy look. I like the concept and the colour of the skin, but would like to see a slightly darker lowlight/shadow in the lines of the muscle, just for a bit more definition. Automatically Appended Next Post: The rust effects are great though, how did you acheive it?

Thanks for the vote of confidence! I stand by my word though- that Slaanesh DP in particular is all sorts of awesome! Reminds me of the evil mecha-snake woman in Captain EO Disney ride.. or, for a more modern reference, those snake HK-things in Terminator Salvation- both very cool. Your cyberdaemons are just so far removed from any of my current projects that I’m kinda itching for a way to somehow integrate the concepts into future work… either way, it’s nice to stop by and see what other people are doing. It helps recharge the creative battery.
Lookin’ forward to more!

@Reanimator: Yeah, I kinda completely missed the mold lines on the top sides of the arms when cleaning up the model
My rust process:
Basecoat Bestial Brown
Stipple roughly and unevenly with:
- Tin Bitz
- Boltgun metal
- Dwarf Bronze
- Shining Gold
- Blazing orange
Re-stipple with some of the metalics at this point if the balance looks wrong, e.g. not enough silvery patches. kinda guesswork, but want it to be a bit too shiny
Stipple finally with Bestial Brown and/or Dark Flesh (lovely reddish-bown colour) to break up the shininess.
More stippling if it looks wrong.
@ HF Izanagi: If you ever do some work on these kinds of concepts, make sure to post it here on Dakka for the rest of us to gawk at.
Total progress since my last post is I knocked the Nurgle prince of the painting table and the head broke off his scythe I guess that isn't really "progress" actually.
Might get some work done tonight, but gonna be spending the day shopping and re-attempting to track down some Purple necron rod stand-ins for another Dakkite, so I don't know how much time I'll be able to devote to the models.

That skin does look better. It does kinda fade thou with the rust, maybe try to make it stand out a bit around the armor, making it a darker, or more vivid green? Automatically Appended Next Post: I also am happy you like my comment earlier

Work and life have conspired to keep me from making much progress, and my internet connection's stopping me from posting pics of what I've managed to get done.
I've touched up the skin on the Nurgle prince a bit, trying to make the distinction clearer where the flesh meets the metal - in hindsight, I shouldn't have used such a brownish wash on the skin when the metal parts are so brown as well.
I've also lightened the membrane-y parts of the Slaanesh prince's wings.
Other than that, I've been playing round with my bits box and coming up with various things, but since the move I don't actually have plastic glue, which restricts what I can test out. Planning to go to a hobby shop tomorrow, hopefully will pick some up then.
Sorry for the small update, hopefully by the time my internet connection goes at a decent speed again and lets me upload pics I'll have managed to get something done worth taking pictures of.

A question- when mentioning the touch-up between where the metal and flesh meet, will it be a seamless transition, or more like it's going wrong- infected, inflamed... I'm not sure which way would look better- clean or infected, but I'm looking forward to seeing how the progress looks!

Sorry for the lack of updates, been busy and spent the last couple of nights catching up with an old friend from high school who was back in the country rather than painting. HF Izanagi wrote:A question- when mentioning the touch-up between where the metal and flesh meet, will it be a seamless transition, or more like it's going wrong- infected, inflamed... I'm not sure which way would look better- clean or infected, but I'm looking forward to seeing how the progress looks! The infected idea is interesting, but I'm not sure I could pull it off well enough at my current skill level. I mostly just want a clear division between the flesh and metal, and the brown sharing, particularly around the tops of the legs detracted from that (more so in person than it seems in the overly-lit photo). I'm sort of aiming to have the flesh darker green near where it meets the metal, hopefully it'll look okay when done. I'll hopefully be cracking out the paints tonight, and I'll post some pictures of what I have so far as the very least. Also, shameless plug for my good friend icarianmirror's new Malifaux P&M Blog. On top of him being awesome in general, He's painting a Leveticus crew, and some of the models, particularly the Steampunk Abominations are probably of interest to anyone who likes the kind of thing I'm doing with my cyerdaemons. So if you're interested head over there and give him some works of advice and encouragement. Automatically Appended Next Post: Hi guys!
Back as promised with some new content for the blog (finally).
I apologise if the photos aren't up to snuff, my desk lamp with my "natural light" bulb gave up on me tonight, so I had to make to with the fairly average light fittings in my room.
Here's Mr Nurgly himself, I've started picking out more of the details (toenails, spikes and the raised patterns on the arms/legs) and redone some of the shading.
The close up on the face is unfortunately a little blurry, but hopefully you can see my progress on the transition between the flesh and metal in the face.
And here's a close up on the legs to show the shading down here.
A shot of the his left side - Auto adjust and the lighting played around on this guy, he's not as bright a green as he seems here, but also not quite as dusty/washed out as in some of the other picks:
The other side, definitely need to make the transition from the darker green more gradual, this was just a first pass.
And the back bone plate:
So what do you guys thing of him at the moment? Obviously still work to be done, but I think he's coming along nicely.
In other news, I now have plastic glue! So I've been playing around in the bitz box and come up with a weird concept thing which I might base my Horrors of Tzeentch on:
Here he is from the side, you can probably see and identify most of the parts:
And from a lower angle behind:
Interested to see what you think of this guy - which aspects are good and which bad, and is there just maybe the start of something cool here?
All comments and criticisms encouraged, as always.

Quick update, still been touching up the Nurgle prince a little bit. Here's a shot which hopefully shows the better gradiation of the greens from the darker green near the 'join' to the paler flesh green of the face. Here's the side again, you can see I've been working on the graduation of colour here too, I'm not very good at this yet, but I'm leaning. You can see I've also gotten around to painting the 'growths' of flesh which extend onto the metal hatches. Also, I need to get the rust/metal on the armband a redo, it's too uniform on this side, although from above the top of it is fine. And as a hint of things to come, here's something I picked up at the game store today... feel free to guess what possible use this stuff could be for converting a daemon army Actually, my main idea for the dryads won't work, as it turns out, but I have some ideas bubbling round in my head now that I've bought the kit and been able to see and hold the bitz for myself. I'm sure I'll come up with something. As for the other, I'm giving no hints as yet, but I do have a rough idea of what I want to do, although if anyone feels like guessing I'm interested to see how close you can get
