I was thinking of this idea for a while and finally decided to try it.. i don't know if there's any thread already going about this or its in the right place so if not and a moderator sees it, feel free to remove or replace this thread..


SO what' this all about, simple: 1 picture per army.. I want you guys to take one picture of your entire force/chapter/regiment/Warband/cult/kabal/lair or whatever exists (don't feel offended if i didn't mentioned your tribe name thingie.. you get the point right?) take your time for it you only have to do this once they don't need to be painted just the whole group on one picture it's not so hard i guess..

i hope this will get a lot of attention

Cadian 33rd Homebrew regiment. Haven't worked points of whole army but between 3500-4000 points. Army is supported by Imperial Navy Valkyrie and Storm Troopers, Psykers of the Schola Pyskana, a small Ad Mech band with a Techpriest and Servitors and at the back right of the boards is an Adeptus Arbites Precinct with Patrol Squad, Patrol Bike, Repressor and Land Speeder 'Pacifier'.

Army isn't finished, lots of work needs to be done. Valkyrie and Executioner are magnetised, the Chimeras have Forge World Turrets. The bikes on the right are Rough Riders and I'm building an Ork bike based Weapons Platform.

Wow Love the thread and the many armies (including the one where the table is straining to keep all the models up!!!!)

Here is my contribution - Space Wolves! Army cost is around 3600+ and massively increasing with still loads and loads (and I mean loads!!!) still to be painted!! At the forefront is my pride and joy - Leman Russ, the first model I ever bought a fair number of years ago!!!

So, I'm taking updated pictures of my IG. Yes, I know the lighting sucks and it's a little blurry, but it's hard to get this many guys in one shot:



That's just my infantry, I'll do the vehicles during this week.

That's eight veteran squads, 3 platoons of four squads each, eight heavy weapon squads, six stormtrooper squads, a psychic battle squad, two penal legion squads, a ratling squad, an al'raheem platoon, and tons of command squads.

You are correct. It's a Leviathan. There are some close ups of it on the link listed above.

I didn't have room for the Thunderbolt and the knight titan on the table.

Bizarrely complicated and I'm not sure if it can really be done anymore when GW stopped their inks (well it can, not with GW paints )

Here's the only decent army photo I've ever taken, the fully painted part of my White Minotaurs SM army. Still to come is another Tactical Squad, an Assault Squad, another Scout squad, a Venerable Dreadnought and Land Speeder Storm.

Terrible quality I know. I think I somehow made it worse with my dimestore photoshopery, but that's why I have labels ;D

Thanks, sadly I don't have any more painted at the moment as I've not been working in that army for very long. Hopefully though within a week or two (assuming other things don't distract me) I will have the second tactical squad finished. Thought there was an "official" explanation but cannot find it at the moment.

1) store your pic on your computer. ( harddrive for example ).
2) upload your pic to a hosting site ( may be one of the wellknown sites or you could upload wargaming related pics at dakka itself )
3) link to your pic in the post, using the image tags ( ie image ....copy&paste the adress in here...*image )
3a) attach the pic to your post, using the "attachments" down below on your posting window.

So either host the pic somewhere/dakka gallery and link to, thus you control where it is placed and may add text before/after, or host it on dakka and have it attached at the end of your post.


To add the following pic from an existant dakka gallery ( previous upload ):

move to "dakka gallery" > move to "your own gallery" > move to "legion of the damned" ( name of the sub-drawer ) > choose pic >
right-click copy graphic adress ( browser specific? ) > paste inside tags using the buttons "image" "*image" > done.





could also use "attachments".
open attachments > choose file > enter descritption > add tags > done.

The second army I am starting. Death Guard C:SM. I have 4 Squads of Death Guard painted and based with 2 more to paint. I have a couple Rhinos primed and ready to go. A 5 Squad of Terminators. A Dreadnought, 2 Blight Drones, 3 Obliterators, GUO, 5 custom Death Guard Raptors with heresy era Jump Packs and a Daemon Prince.... Anyway here are the Marines I have done.

How can everyone manage to paint so many tanks? I really don't understand that, I find it so tiresome to paint them... which is probably why it is hard for me to make up a competative list.

Tanks are easy to paint. Once undercoated probably do one in about 45 mins that's including any decals and wash too.

Oh? It takes much longer for me, it is mainly all those plane areas I find annoying.

I've never had difficulty with tanks, really. Even when i'm doing detail work like, on my landraider with the Night Lords forgeworld doors, and all of the lightning, it usually only takes me, at most, 3 hours or so to finish a tank if i'm working on it and it alone.
...Granted, now that I think about it though, at least an hour of that alone is spent on lightning...

Most of the time though I work on multiple things at once, like a squad and a tank.

Tank brush and job done. Can get a bit fed up sometimes though it's only like painting mass infantry i.e Orks, hellfire that's annoying.

Finally got around to taking an updated army shot.

Here is the 77th Praetorian Regiment. Unfortunately the Vendetta is blocking all of the Deathstrike missile and most of the Manticore. Also missing from the shot is my Armorcast Warhound titan which would not fit on the table.

I haven't yet figured out the exact point total of the army and the total showing in my signature is just a guess.

on a side note, the table that my armies are pictured on was scratch built by yours truly. It fits together with latches and a few dowel pins for stability at the ends. overall it's 8x4 feet, and can definitely fit some good sized games in there.

So, a bit of fluff to set the scene:

The central theme for this army is of a Dark Eldar Kabal that treats old, chipped and tarnished equipment as a mark of pride because its level of craftsmanship is so high that it literally takes thousands of years to become weathered and worn.

This Kabal has come to regard what we would see as objects impossibly perfect in form and function as merely the results of tedious “manufacturing” exercises. After all, the Eldar race has had the skills to produce such things for millennia. Instead, arms and armor are only truly coveted once they exhibit the patina acquired in countless battles and the residue of untold deaths.

You can't really see much of the weathering in this shot because my digital camera is also an ancient artifact! If this interests you then take a look at some closeup photos are in the Dakka Gallery and my P&M thread.



I have a new respect for people taking army photos now that I've tried it a couple times myself! Not only are the armies in this thread stunning, there are a lot of great photos as well! Any tips on how to take good army photos? I've found guides on taking individual miniature shots but not so much on whole army displays.

Here is an updated Army photo though still incomplete of my Soul Drinkers Chapter. I have a 2nd Crusader, a Vindicator, Landspeeder and a number of unpainted Tac Marines and Assault Termies that will be done in the next month or so.

My Tau army, currently working on getting my Gue'vesa, 3rd Hammerhead and pathfinder's devilfish completed.

Massed Tau is pretty awesome.

Here is a few shots from a tourney... but just realized I haven't taken a full shot of my army in a long time. Once I finish up my current project I'll have to get on that, but it'll be a while.

@Ovion: I don't know either.. I think its human nature to ignore rules made by someone without the power to punish them.. I repeated it more than once.. ONE Pic per amry.. can't help some people ignore it.. My respect goes to the ones who have posted one pic per army..

My question is why would you even enforce such a "rule"? It's not a competition, so it's more of a guideline, you could've rather said to try and take as few pictures as possible as not to flood the thread.

I'd rather see army shots plus whatever people are proud of enough to take closeups of, enforcing a rule forcing people just to take a far away wide shot to show off how many models they have compared to being able to tell what models they actually have seems like a epeen contest to me.

But hey, your thread your "rules". To me it seems counter intuitive to enforce a limitation in a thread where we're sharing, especially since it's not a contest.

12th Methuselan Armored Cavalry Regiment

Oringinally built and painted when the Armageddon codex came out with all-metal, Steel Legion infantry. Unfortunately, the unit comp is terrible, so it's not particularly fun or competetive to play. But it fulfills my treadhead tendencies

Here's a shot of my Halloween themed space marine army, I've dubbed them OctoberForce.

I've fully refurbished and repainted old Rogue Trader era plastic beakies, a rogue trader era predator tank and many lead marines. It's meshing well with the new stuff, I think. I've got lots more stuff to add when I get the time, and everything in this pic isn't 100% painted (namely the vindicator and contemptor).
