"fine," the captain relented. "we will take you to the shogun, but he will know his own, and if you lie it will be the death of you."

you may have seen my samurai orks blog a few weeks ago, but that didn't work out. So I've switched gears and I've made it a samurai IG army. here's some examples of what my troopers will look like:

I'll try to keep this brief Shiro, but there's a lot of information that needs your attention. Ever since the death of your grandfather Shogun Oba, most of the clans have refused to recognize you as his successor. They believe a "nanban" should not sit on the throne, even though you are half shinshiman. luckily the Shitennō have remained loyal, and are ready to lead our forces in battle. unfortunetly we're currently a bit low on troops, we've got maybe 60 able bodied warriors at this point plus support personnel and vehicles. (pic attachment 1.1) this is one of our Ashigaru, at first we though arming them with lasguns would mean the difference on a feudal world, but apparently our ship was followed on the way here by another rogue trader dynasty. they're backing a rebel clan, and word has spread that the rich resources of Shinshima are up for grabs. expect to see more lasguns then spears on the battlefield. also we can't expect to see any imperial help, all the rebels are loyal to the Imperium, so there will be no imperial guard units coming to restore order. we've also heard rumors of shadowy cults among the outlying setelments, the inquisitor has advised me to tell you to put an entire town to the sword if you find one in it. also please send me any cultic paraphernalia if you do find any, I can use it as leverage with the ordos to get us some support. - Dostoyevsky (pic attachment 1.2) this is one of our samurai, unfortunately we've only been able to supply them with lasguns and a few meltaguns. the other dynasties are blockading the upper atmosphere and we've only been able to get through so far by using the inquisitor's authority to move supplies and munitions. he's refused to supply us with boltguns for our samurai so they're stuck with lasguns. Don't look at me, these samurai have never even fired a primitive gun, and I'm not trusting them with anything more complex than "point & shoot" lasguns. - Dostoyevsky (pic attachment 1.3) this is one of our Ashigaru Sergeants, they are samurai who've focused more on leading men than martial prowess. we know we can trust them, or so the inquisitor says. Hey, I checked the loyalty of each and every one of them myself. I didn't even need to torture them to know for sure. - Dostoyevsky (pic attachment 1.4) (pic attachment 1.5) there is some good news here, we've got some more powerful weapons in the latest shipment: some grenade launchers and autocannons. it may increase logistics difficulty, but no more than getting power packs recharged on a feudal world. you can thank me for the water wheel power plant later, maybe over dinner? I've got my servitors building an ammo factory in the town outside the castle, it will be operational in a month or so. right until some half brained Tech Priestess decides to go have dinner with her boyfriend instead of minding her servitors,then KABOOM no more town. just saying for a mechanicus she's a bit preoccupied and emotional. -Dostoyevsky that's all we've got for now, the inquisitor should be bringing some of his henchmen in with the next shipment. he's also working on requisitioning some vehicles for us, a few vendettas, some artillery, and something I'm not familiar with called a stormraven. anyways hope this report proves helpful, because as soon as the fighting stops I've got some reports of rich archeo tech sites that I'd like to check out.
While I love the concept, I find the scale difference between the Samurai and IG components too jarring. All of thier arms and the officer's chest look OMG STEROIDS huge. I'll wait to see them painted before completely making up my mind however. I'll watch with interest for further developments.
I like to think they're wearing bulkier or baggy clothes. Makes it look more like they're actually wearing armor instead of just a movie prop.

origin: Magos Verana Turing Shiro, I have an update on the uniforms and armor ordered for the men. we've received the new armor based on the cadian patterns with native style helmets and legs. the helmets are made to the same standard as in imperial guard helmet and should provide the same protection. as far as the colors, we've kept the grey Oba clan uniforms on the cloth, and added the blue armor of the Adama dynasty. here's a pic:
We've also received your new armor. It's made to look like the armor of a native daimyo, but incorporates ceremite carapace level protection. more importantly it's not flashy and won't be out of place among the troops to pick you out for a sniper. here's what it looks like:
PS: A local child confused my mechededrites for tails and believed I was a local minor fox goddess. I think with some modifications to my rig I can effectively masquerade as this goddess and move about without being harassed by enemy forces. I'll be in the lab for a couple of days to create the mask and mechidendrites necessary to achieve the disguise.

also apparently there was a mix up in our last shipment, but it's in our favor. we've received a pair of scout sentinels that we didn't need, but everything helps. a pair of samurai cavalrymen have volunteered to pilot the sentinels one is doing quite will and is ready to be deployed (see pic attachment 3.2) the other is still working out how to pilot the sentinel and may be ready in a few days, hopefully.
that's all there is to report for now. Dostoyevsky is reaching out to a clan of ninja to arrange for them to work with us. he's currently at their stronghold in the mountains near the castle.

The plasma gun conversion is cool, but it looks too much like a flamer (to me) to have it pass as a plasma gun. Not that I don't love it, just not as a plasma gun.
To the Desk of Shogun Rogue Trader Shiro Adama Origin: Magos Verana Turing Shiro, my recent report from the field included an error in the pic attachment. this is what the plasma gun actually looks like: (pic attachment 3.3) what the original pic attachment depicted was what I have dubbed the Inari Pattern Meltagun after the magos. what this pic attachment sows is what I have dubbed the Inari patter plasma caster. we also found another interesting item in the cache: Inari's suit of power armor fitted with nine mechedendtires creating the legend of the nine tailed fox goddess. it looks like it would fit me,but it appears to be gene locked so that only Inari or a relative could wear it. I've lost three servitors already, so for now it's sitting on my shelf until I can genetically test the local populace. strangely it seems that Inari did not die on Shinshima, her diary says that she was waiting for an incoming ship to pick her up. where she went is anyone's guess. in other news we've mustered and trained our first ashigaru squad. take a look: we've got thirty eight more peasant volunteers who are looking to join our standing army, we are currently equipping and training them. in other news Dostoyevsky is making headway with the ninjas, we will have our answer soon.

I have to echo the idea of these guys being a bit too ridiculously jacked with the GW arms. It's like an entire army of Johnny Bravos. I wonder if it would be possible to adapt the arms from the samurai kits?
That's always going to be a problem with GW scale figures. They have bad proportions.

The arms won't blend into a Cadian torso, but there is an easy fix. Keep the gw shoulderpads and cut the arms off the shoulder pads, then cut the shoulder/upper arm off Japanese hand gunner models. It's more work, but the thinner arms will make the oversized torso look like it's bulk from armor rather than being a Johnny Bravo.
there's just one problem: I play at a GW store, and the guy working there has already approved my design and I think I'm pressing the non GW parts percentage as is. also it's not just the armor that's bulky. my army comes from a high altitude region where the temperature is quite chilly. they're wearing winter coats. I'll add the battle plan when I get around to writing it, as well as the intro to General Fuyu.

I've taken a missile from one of our launchers and replaced the tip of an arrow with it. it functions like a missile launcher, but it aims and fires like a bow. It's so simple I'm sure it's in a STC somewhere, but for now the implementation of this device awaits your approval. this device indeed has previously existed. archeological digs on Terra found a cache of historical vid logs made for educational purposes. one in particular featured this device called Ra-Am-Bo: Primary Kill. -Dostoyevsky here's a pic log of the device:

The bow just gives it the kick into the air and the aim, once it's free of the firer's arms the rocket ignites and carries it the rest of the way (kind of like a cruise missile). As far as single rocket launcher guys,there will just be nine guys in that unit (or more likely they'll be used as a heavy weapons squad).
I did something similiar with the Zulu models it's on here as the 24th Islandlwanda regiment. Personally I just modified the original arms but A. I don't play at GW and B. most held guns. I do feel that would improve the look however.

I agree with this. The scales are just too off on this. You could cast the arms and shrink them. Theres a product that shrinks depending on how much water you dilute it with. I dont remember what its called, but you could shrink the arms a bit, then this would look awesome.

Yeri here, if you’re wondering what they’re talking about Verana/Inari has her servo arms attached through a series of plug in jacks along her spine. She can remove her mechidendrites for more formal occasions or to sleep. Her other implants are discreet and can pass for biological parts unless closely inspected, for vanity’s sake.

A nice idea mate! But I would suggest to stay away from the easy path of swapping parts. The cool-looking japanese parts you use just don't fit with GW parts. Not in terms of proportions nor in terms of style. The IG weapons and other decorative attributes like aquila on armor would be enough to make them IGimo.
like I said: I play at a GW store. I am required to have at least 40% GW parts in every model. so if I want samurai I can't just strap some lasguns on ashigaru models and call it a day. EDIT: as much as I would love to.

Origin: Magos Inari Turing Shiro, as you know we've had a glut of volunteers since to was announced that the legendary samurai decided to join us. they're quite to pop stars on this planet. anyways, our primary limiting factor is supplying them all with gear. the lasguns are no problem, but the uniforms are rather bulky and with weapons and ammo being needed more than shirts and pants we just can't get much armor through. however I've found a solution: there is a local ceramic that has properties similar to carapace armor. not as effective, but we can supply it locally. the protection should be the same grade as an imperial guard flack jacket, saving room in our shipments for more important items we can't supply locally. I've had the armorers make a test version for your approval:

damn the mask thing was what threw me off( banes freaking mask is still in my mind) but i probably wasnt paying enough attention to notice the sword part... and the hilt would only be offensive to stupid people who dont know what their talking about ( most people).... still think musashi would have been a better choice as ichigo is pretty much a daemon .

Origin: Magos Inari Truing Shiro, some of the huntsmen I noticed earlier have adopted the superior range of a sniper rifle, however there is one problem: the scopes the requisition office sent us do not have rear glare filters. if our snipers are to operate in the sun we'll need to issue them some kind of headgear to keep the sun out of their eyes. I'll leave the style of the headgear to your digression, you're the shogun.

To the desk of Shogun Rogue Trader Shiro Adama Origin: Magos Inari Turing done and done, the snipers have the hats. as far as the power armor goes, I need some very specific parts to fix it. my father is sending them in the next shipment. as to the inquisitor, his new ninja buddies just arrived, and apparently I'm the patron goddess of their clan. please help, it's very awkward being followed around everywhere by worshiping ninjas. (please save me from these people) I've tried bribing them to leave me alone by upgrading their swords into power weapons and fitting them with storm gloves (they're like storm shields, but in glove form, found the STC in one of my old stashes) but that doesn't last for long, and only inspires further devotion from them. apparently my goddess domains are gift giving, technology and agriculture. got to go, one of them is looking over my shoulder and asking if I'm writing some kind of holy scripture.
Ninjas.... sweet! the hats dont look mariachi they just look..... weird..... may i simply suggest to use some of the traditional warmasks(like the samurai) with mabye extended eyepieces from the lasguns or the binoculars glued on? with different peoples eyes at "zoomed" different lengths i think it would look good
Lucky for me I'm probably not going to use the snipers outside apocalypse games. The ninjas are my inquisitorial henchmen, the ones with gloves are crusaders and the one with the Kama is a DCA ( I don't know if you can tell from the pic but he's got one hand on the ninjato on his back and in the other he holds a Kama.)
Also yes the hats look weird, but they actually exist. Also I dont trust my skills to be able to sculpt mempo on to them.
I say do it, just make sure to have at least one of the guys have a machine gun built into his guitar (he can be a heavy bolter servitor)
EDIT: some people may look at my ninja and say "those don't look like ninja!" (I know my friends did) let me be clear: these are more realistic ninja, who will wear whatever blends in or that their enemy isn't expecting them to wear. for example I once wrote a series where a clan of ninja infiltrated a castle disguised as merchants. then when the guy they were supposed to depose came back and was on to their tricks they wore the one thing he would never expect a real ninja to wear: they entered as a "singing ninja-gram" silly outfits and all. that's why the ninja are dressed like my ashigaru, to blend in. the face masks are just to identify them as my ninja on the tabletop (and because they may run into a guy they met on a battlefield while doing an espionage job)
EDIT: by the way those storm gloves are based off something I saw in that TV series Revolution. the glove thing the guy wore while fighting. does anyone know if that's actually a real thing and what it's called?
I really like this project, and I would really like to see if you start your IG Vikings too! Just make sure you don't neglect one over the other....It;s easily done!
Oh don't worry I have to finish the samurai IG before a certain point in the Viking storyline or no gunship rescue for Alfred Adama. (Shiro is Alfred's cousin, and will be making a guest appearance in the Viking storyline)
EDIT: also I have Aspergers Syndorme, we aspies crave structure and routine. my plan is on MON, WED, FRI, SUN to be working on the samurai, and TUE, TUR, SAT, be working on the vikings (funny that I'm going to be working on vikings on Thursdays (or Thor's day for those in the know of the origin)

Me too, I'm going to turn this blog into a joint blog called "Forces of the Adama Dynasty: Samurai and Viking IG: (whatever I'm working on goes here)" instead of creating a second blog because the armies are linked by blood (Shiro and the main character in the Viking IG are cousins) and the one weakness of my narrative is that Shiro himself doesn't get much air-time, he's the main character and he's only been talking once or twice. so the narrative for the viking IQ will be voice and pic recordings from Alfred's servo skull. also I can tell you know on future memos Shiro will be making quips kind of like Dostoyevsky did in the first memo. his personality would best be defined as The Regicide Master and yes a chess board will be in his office (or maybe a Go board, seems to fit the theme better)

I am Toki Runeseer, leader of this outpost. Alfred: nice to meet you Lord Runeseer. Toki: please call me Toki, or Uncle Toki. Alfred: so I take it you are my father’s brother? I didn’t know the astates recruited from this planet. Toki: (laughs) I’m not your father’s brother by birth young pup. Your father and I are brothers in blood. by sacred oaths I was inducted into his family and he into mine. Now the hold is not far, you won’t need that heavy backpack you’re carrying. Alfred: I thought the hold was a half-day’s march from here? I’m just keeping supplies and snacks for the trip in here. Toki: (laughs) a half-day’s march on foot, but not by land speeder, but if you brought snacks more power to you. never know when you’ll want something to munch on. Come with me the land speeder is ready in the motor pool. (later in the land speeder storm, speeding across the forest road) Alfred: so you say there’s a war going on here? it looks quite peaceful for there to be an active civil war going on. Toki: yes it does, but it’s all an illusion. I’d bet there are at least five guys watching us right now waiting to ambush us. (gunfire erupts from the forest) Alfred: (shocked) you seem fairly relaxed for having people shooting at you! Toki: oh it’s nothing new for us. (Toki pulls out a bolt pistol and fires at the attackers in the trees) Toki: now I suggest you run that way (points towards the opposite way of the shooters) and we’ll come find you when this is over. (Alfred makes a beeline for the trees and runs for a bit before hiding behind a fallen tree. He catches his breath before he hears a growling coming from nearby. A black Fenrisan Wolf is standing next to him with his snout sniffing Alfred’s face. The wolf is lean and emaciated) Alfred: hey now big guy, let’s not get hasty here. look at me I’m just skin and bones, you don’t want to eat me, I’m not worth the trouble. Wolf: (growls) Alfred: know what, I’ve got a compromise (reaches into his pack and pulls out a bag of jerky) see (waves it in front of the wolf’s snout. The wolf is transfixed) yea you like that, don’t you? (feeds the wolf some jerky. The wolf sits in front of Alfred, expecting more) yea eat up, because the more of that you eat the less room you have for me. (later Toki and the others find Alfred and the wolf, Alfred is sitting against the tree and the wolf is in his lap) Toki: aww, looks like you made a new friend. (closely examines the wolf) hey Olaf is that who I think it is? Olaf: yes sir I think it is, the pup has befriended Harald the black, I’m sure the shepherds can rest easier knowing that he won’t be troubling their flocks anymore. Alfred: what are you talking about? This thing’s going to eat me as soon as it wakes up. Toki: doubtful, if Harald the Black chose to sleep in your lap he’s accepted you as his master. Congratulations you just adopted one of the most loyal pets in the galaxy. Alfred: (sarcastic) Great. (Harald wakes up and starts sniffing the air before barking, just then a figure jumps down from a nearby tree and a white fenrisan wolf walks out from behind it) Ingrid: how cute, a boy and his wolf. Too bad it ends here with me collecting the bounty on both your heads. Alfred: whoa, I can understand a bounty on the fleabag here, but I just got here. how can there be a bounty on me already? Toki: you sir must be quite a man to challenge a man protected by three space wolves. Ingrid: (removes her helmet) I am no man. I am Ingrid Warborn, daughter of Erik and Freya Wyrdcrossed, and today I’ll be collecting your heads. Toki: hmm, not a man, that’s a problem. Ingrid: what you can’t hit a girl? Toki: actually yes, as a unit our wyrds prevent us from harming a woman, just as my personal wyrd says I can’t shave my legs, and Olaf cannot eat the meat of dog. Alfred: are you tempted to shave your legs? Toki: no, wyrds are often some strange behavior that rarely presents a problem, but in this case pup you’re on your own. Alfred: great. (looks at Harald) I don’t suppose you have a plan do you? Harald: (howls, far away other howls answer) Toki: so the rumors of all packs swearing fealty to the Black are true. (the howls get closer and soon wolves can be seen gathering around the perimeter of the group) Ingrid: damn, looks like this is it Sigrid, we go down swinging. (there is a tense standoff as the wolves circle the pair. Harald looks at Alfred waiting for a command to strike) Alfred: look, I don’t know what the bounty on me and the mutt is, but I’ll give you a chance to walk away from this with your life. I’ll pay you double what our two bounties are if you agree not to trouble me or him anymore. Ingrid: you must be kidding, you have me at your mercy and you offer to pay me to let me live? What kind of madman are you? Alfred: one with more money than sense, and I’m quite the sensible guy. Now you in or out? Ingrid: fine, I’ll work out the details later just restrain your wolves. Alfred: you heard her. Harald: (barks, the wolves leave. Ingrid and Sigrid dash away) Toki: I don’t think that’s the last we’ve heard of her. Alfred: yep, she’ll definitely be back.

Ryu: yes it’s the same one I was found in, it’s also where my name comes from.
(he removes his helmet and shows shiro an inscription on the inside of it)
Ryu: Toyatomi Ryu, I’m assuming that’s my father’s name. I’ve done some digging and Daimyo Toyatomi I believe is my uncle.
Shiro: (whistles) so your uncle had your parents killed?
Ryu: it seems that way, and if I ever get the chance I’ll repay the favor.
Shiro: then you’ll be glad to know that Daimyo Toyatomi is going to be the first target of our winter campaign. In a few months you’ll have your revenge. I’m assigning your ninja squad to the pre-assault assassinations.

Origin: Magos Inari Turing Shiro, I know how you wanted me to arm the ninja assault team with bolters, but even with the Diamantine components I don't have the machinery to process the precursor components into anything better than armor, not enough to use them for bolt shells. however I do have an alternative: the Shinshima pattern hot shot lasgun, I've renamed all the patterns I'd named after myself a Shinshima pattern, I'm not important enough to name it after myself. who do I think I am Magos Land? anyways, the hot shots will be better able to penetrate the more advanced armor we've been seeing the past few months, and they'll be easier to resupply. here's an example of the hot shot lasgun:

we found a repair manual with it, but we don't know how the hell to use it. we figured maybe your tech priestess girlfriend could decipher the manual so that we could make more of them. I think it's some kind of sentinel if that helps.
well gee of course it's a type of sentinel, even a blind man could tell you that. however I think your cousin is on to something shiro, I've never seen this pattern before. I'm dubbing this the Jotunn pattern sentinel, and I'll get working on the manual as soon as I can. -Inari
It's got home brew rules but basically it's an armored sentinel with rocket launchers and another weapon of your choice, costs like one too. I'll post more detailed rules soon.

I'd bet there's all kinds of archeo tech down in the depths of the mountain. I've enlisted my father's tribe and with their winter homes destroyed by the war last year they'll be moving in to the base when the snow begins to fall. we've also found what looks to be some kind of programmable factory type device made to construct simple devices in limited numbers, we can supply anything from a knife to a lasgun once we get it working. that should ease our demand on supplies. by the way I was wondering: could you send some copies of the shinsima pattern devices, like the meltagun and the plasma gun? that would really help us get some security around here, we've had various forest creatures just barge on in and cause trouble, and they're big too.

Outpost Canis is under attack, structure has sustained heavy damage and we are forced to evacuate. Road has been blocked by explosive ordinance, requesting air-evac from any nearby friendly forces. No casualties have been sustained so far but we’ve lost three rhinos. We are surrounded and they outnumber us maybe fifty to one. Ammunition running low, request immediate evac.

Alfred: what happened? I heard the outpost was destroyed.
Toki: aye a grim day indeed, we sustained a mortar assault and the roof caved in.
Alfred: who attacked you?
Toki: the Untoten.
Alfred: who?
Toki: they’re one of the homegrown mercenary outfits that work for the Hirschhorn Tribe. They say that they never truly die, but always get back up when a fight is over.
Alfred: think that’s true?
Toki: I think they’re very good at retreaving their dead and hiding their identities. But if you don’t mind my men would like to stay here until this war is over.
Alfred: and how soon will that be?
Toki: not long I think, your father was on the verge of a breakthough when he died. You see officially both warring factions are lead by regents, the actually warring families died almost twenty years back. Your father however believed there was an heir to both families still living, and he almost found him.
Alfred: so find the rightful king and end the war, sounds simple.
Toki: not exactly, to end the war we need to stop the rogue trader dynasties profateiring off of it so that they can harvest this planet’s recorces. If we find the rightful king that will be a step in the right direction and the dynasties and their puppet regents will no longer hold power, then by my estimation the war will heat up as they attempt to seize the planet by force. We just need to devide them so that we can elimnate them individualy.
Alfred: well it sounds like we’ll need an army to do that.
Toki: good thing you already have one: the Enherjar Tribe. Everyone on this planet fears them, and their nutrality in this war may have been what has caused it to go on for so long. Both sides cort them, but you are the son of their thane, they will follow you to Morki’s Gates if you order them to. Speaking of which you should probably move them here early, when the untoten retreated it looked like they were heading towards Enherjar lands. Likely to remove an emerging threat. You’re people won’t stand a chance with their swords and bows against mortars and lasguns.
Alfred: alright then, are your men prepared to make a rearguard action?
Toki: young pup there’s something you should know: space wolves will always be ready to save inoccent lives. (yells) Baruk Valka Fenryka!

from the Journal of Thane Horlf My son, at the time of this writing I know I do not have much time. at this very moment I can feel the poison flowing in my veins. if you are reading this I am dead and buried, and you have replaced me. the following entries will guide you on how to lead the men-at-arms of the Enherjar tribe as your duty as thane.
I would like to start by thanking you for supplying the tribe with more advanced weapons, without them we would not stand a chance against the current combatants of this war as we prepare to enter it. this is a warrior of the Enherjar tribe, they are feared across the planet for their skill at arms. while we are few in number compared to the other tribes, it is commonly considered that an Enherjar warrior is the equal of ten men, but do not throw them against unequal odds and waste their lives. remember they are not a standing army like you're used to, they are ordinary tribesmen.
these are our special weapons warriors. we have assigned one to each of our squads as you call them. I don't know if we can keep a constant supply of ammunition for them, so use them sparingly.
these are our Huscarls, they are the bodyguards of our important figures and they can be trusted absolutely. I would like to thank you for supplying them with melta guns, however some of them have complained that they came with the smell of body odor. I guess those shinshimans are not regular bathers.
these are our huscaral squad leaders, like the huscarl bodyguards they loyalty can be assured. unlike the chainblades you off worlders seem to enjoy we would rather trust loyal steel than the unpredictability of a chainblade.
this is a reference photo for you to be able to identify an Enherjar warrior, they will always wear a deep faded blue shirt and tan pants, personal heraldry lives on the shield where it can be better displayed to the enemy.
I hope this guide proves helpful to you my son, because I will not be there to guide you. I would just like to let you know that never meeting you is my life's greatest regret. perhaps we shall meet in the next life.

it fits just like I remember and I've got all the systems working again, also of note we've received the two Griffons we ordered, sort of. they sent them to us in pieces and I'm all out of binding agents to put them together. you may be wondering how I'm out of binding agents when we just ordered some, well they sent us fine grade binding agents by mistake. I'm really going to give those requisiton agents a piece of my mind when I get my hands on them!

Bodyguard: sir it says there's a breach of secrurity in the lower levels near the base of the mountain.
Toki: well I'm going to check on it. how many life signs?
Bodyguard: ten.
Toki: oh that's not much. say young pup, care to wet your fangs on these intruders?
Alfred: yes, Toki and I will handle the inturders, the rest of you go evacuate the Enherjar.
Bodyguard: (salutes) yes sir!
(down in the dark tunnels near the base of the mountain Alfred and Toki search for the intruders with an auspex)
Alfred: what does the auspex say?
Toki: it's busted I think. says there's over nine thousand of them all around us, but I would sense them if there were.
Alfred: I take it you have a knack for such things?
Toki: no a nose, however I do smell Enherjar tribe soap, they could be friendlies.
(lasgun fire rips the space between them as figures in the darkness open fire on the two)
Alfred: really FRIENDLY?
Toki: I just know what soap they use not their intentions. (Toki fires back)
(the lasguns stop and Toki stops firing in return)

Figure: Toki, Emperor damned, we heard you were dead after the attack on the outpost?
Toki: no there were no casualties, and what are the scouts doing here?
Alfred: scouts?
Toki: these men are the scouts of the Enherjar, they make sure that the path is clear when the tribe is on the move.
Erik: aye and the tribe is wintering early this year. Sigfroder's birds tell him the first snow will fall in a few days and we don't want to be marching though it. so I take it that is the son of the thane?
Toki: aye.
Erik apologies my lord, we were hasty and shouldn't have opened fire.
Alfred: you're forgiven.
Toki: say how about we get some ale? I've set up the old still in the canteen up near the top.
Erik: lead the way.
also I've got a new system to make sure I work on both armies equally: I'm counting the points for each unit I build, then I'll work on the army that has the least points done at the moment (vikings right now 745 to samurai's 855)
They're both going to 2k points right now. However the griffons will be shared between the armies and the vehicles will be painted in the Adama blue so I can swap them in between if I ever need more variety.
here's the two army lists:

the sun was setting on the forest road as an old man in a travelers outfit approached the ramshackle barricade. The bandit leader approached him. “halt!” he said. “you can’t pass through here without paying the toll.” The bandits chuckled, this would be an easy mark.
“tell me stranger,” the old man said. “these are Enherjar lands are they not?”
“who cares, pay the toll and be on your way.” The leader said.
“I believe the Enherjar care, they do not condone imposing on the freedom of others.” The old man said. “especially their chieftain Sigfroder.”
“I don’t see a mighty chieftain around old man, just you, me and them.” The leader retorted.
The old man held out his hand and a black raven landed on it. “ah but he is here, the birds are his eyes and ears. They tell him what happens, and now he knows what you’re doing, and he does not approve.”
“you go a mouth on you old man, and some far away chieftain is not going to save you now- uggh!” the leader looked down and saw a spear sticking out of his chest, held by the old man. He had thrown off his travelers cloak revealing a chainmail shirt. The old man pulled the spear out and the leader fell to the ground, dead. The other bandits reached for their guns but the old man drew a pistol and shot each one of them in the head, all except one. He implacably walked over towards the lone bandit who cowered against the barricade.
“who are you?” the bandit asked.
“I am Sigfroder, and you will be running back to whoever your leader is and telling him that if I ever catch bandits in my lands again I will hunt him down and kill him. Understood?”
The bandit took off into the forest, if the wolves didn’t get him his boss would. Sigfroder put his clock back on and took a seat on the barricade. With any luck his men would be along soon.
The four huscarls made double time through the forest. After the attack on the tribe’s caravan and the scattering of the people in the ensuing chaos they had lost the chieftain. They had to hope that he had survived and would meet them at the silver pinnacle. Ahead of them was a hastily built barricade. Rising from the barricade was a series of smoke rings from a pipe. The four took positions around the barricade and leveled their meltaguns at the barricade. “in the name of the Enherjar tribe show yourself!” one of them said.
“well about time!” a familiar voice said. The shape of Sigfroder rose from the barricade a lit pipe in his hand. “I was worried you wouldn’t get here before nightfall.”
“my lord, you’re alive!”
“of course I’m alive. Now what’s the sitrep?” Sigfroder asked.
“the caravan is scattered, and the people have split into smaller groups to move through the forest.”
“I take it you’ve made contact with some of them?”
“yes my lord, we made the decision to split into more mobile and discreet groups. We will regroup at the silver pinnacle.”
“very well than, we should get moving. The night is young, we can make the pinnacle by sunrise.”
“but sir what about the wolves, won’t they be about?”
Sigfroder gestured over to a pack of wolves near the edge of the forest. “the wolves are already here, and Harald the black leads them.”
“it is good to see you again Sigfroder.” The collar around the wolf said in a mechanical voice.
“he talks now, but that is neither here nor there. Now we must be moving, the ones who attacked the caravan are following you, and we can’t let them catch us.” The Huscarls nodded and the party of five men and five wolves set off into the forest with two ravens circling overhead.
It was morning, or at least Alfred thought it was morning as he slowly awakened to full alertness. That was when he noticed someone was in the room with him, and it was not Harald who had been sleeping on the floor last night. With his blurry vision he could make out a figure sitting on a chair across the room. The figure was petite, possibly female.
“good morning Thane Horlfson.” It was the bounty hunter from before. Alfred reached for the bolt pistol on his nightstand, but a knife imbedded itself in the wooden furnature an inch from his hand.
“so you’re here to finish the job?” Alfred asked.
He thought he could make out a smile with his blurry vision. “no actually I’m here to get on my knees and beg for your mercy.” She sounded sarcastic. “see after you let me go my employers were not exactly happy with me. They put a massive bounty on my head. So I figure maybe you’ll be merciful again and let me stay here until this is worked out.”
“and how do I know I can trust you?”
“because I guess you could say we’re in-laws.”
“what?”
“that big black wolf of yours made my Sigrid his mate, and fenrisian wolves mate for life. My Sigrid would never forgive me if I killed her mate’s daddy.”
“I wouldn’t exactly consider myself Harald’s daddy.”
She giggled. “trust me adopting a fenrisan wolf is like adopting a child, and about as much trouble. I should know I have four of them, yours is with them right now.”
“and where are they?”
“I don’t know, I let them loose outside last night. They’re probably out hunting, playing, doing wolf things.”
The door to his room slid open with a hiss, and one of his bodyguards stepped in. he saw the bounty hunter and shouldered his lasgun at her. the bounty hunter responded by drawing a laspistol. “stand down, both of you!” Alfred barked. The bodyguard lowered his weapon, the bounty hunter did not. “I said stand down!” he barked again. Without lowering her weapon she looked at him. Then she did as told, holstering her pistol. Alfred looked over at the bodyguard. “do you have something to report, or are you just checking on me?”
“sir, your grandfather chieftain Sigfroder is here. he wishes to speak with you as soon as is convenient.” The bodyguard said.
“where is he?” Alfred asked.
“right here.” said a wizened voice from outside the room. An old man in a travelers outfit entered the room. On his back was the wrapped shape of a massive axe, and on each of his shoulders was a black raven. Alfred felt embarrassed that his grandfather would see him in his pajamas, and it may have shown on his face. “oh relax child, I’ve seen your father in much more compromising states. At least the two of you are clothed.”
“it’s not like that chieftain.” The bounty hunter stated.
“is it now Ingrid Warborn? Well then I guess my birds lie when they say you’re attracted to him.” Now everyone in the room felt awkward.
“so what’s with the axe?” Alfred asked trying to change the subject.
Sigfroder paused for a second before realizing the subject had changed. “ah yes,” he took the wrapped axe off his back and laid it on the floor. He opened the wrapping revealing a massive axe emblazoned with runes as well as a chainmail suit of armor, an ornate helmet, and a silken outer coat. “this belonged to your father, his armor, and his axe Mjolnir, which once belonged to your great grandfather, and his father before that back to time immemorial.”
“and why didn’t it pass to you?” Alfred asked.
“because I did not need it, my mother gave me the spear of her line: Gungnir. And by the time my father died your father was already a man. Now Mjolnir passes to you, and I believe the armor may fit you as well, your parents were about the same size, and by the looks of you, your fathers armor should fit you like a glove. Now go try it on, see how it feels.”
A few minutes later Alfred walked out of his lavatory with the armor and coat on. “there, now you look like the thane you were born to be.” Sigfroder said. He reached into his sack and pulled out a worn leather bound book. “your father’s last act was to write this, it’s all his research into the identity of the heir to two thrones, and a guide to leading the men of the Enherjar to war.”
“so I take it the tribe is here now?” Alfred asked.
“no, we were attacked and forced to split up. for now it is just my huscarls and the scouts, but more will be coming over the next few days. The birds tell me Bjorn Bera is nearby with his berserkers, and someone made the mistake of attacking them. Poor fools.”
Bjorn Bera picked his axe out of the split skull of the idiot who decided it would be a good idea to attack his berserkers. Around him his men were just coming out of their battle rage. This was the time he hated, the time when the blind rage faded and he saw just what he had done. He never remembered what he did, but he always remembered what happened after. Coming to in a field of gore, that was the worst part of being a berserker: not remembering what you did, but always seeing the aftermath of what looked like a mauling, and knowing that the animal that did it was you. “get it together boys, the silver pinnacle’s not far.” They gathered their things and restarted the march, with any luck no one would try attacking them again.
Hate to say this but that's not an Elendil mini, that's Isildur that I used for Alfred's mini. on two side notes 1) the glue should be coming today so expect more frequent updates. 2) I've re-done Sigfroder's spear, I figure if it's some legendary weapon that he would turn down a power axe for it must be a power weapon itself:

Anastasia Medvedev
Bio: while her existence before the revolution is undeniable, her continued survival is unconfirmed at best. The rebels claim she is their overall leader, however no one has spoken with her directly. We cannot confirm even if she currently exists, or if she is just a hoax by the rebel leaders to gather support.
Vladimir Medvedev
Bio: from what reports we have it seems that Vladimir is indeed alive and somewhere on Volstog. From the reports it seems he’s planning on organizing and arming the rebels into an effective fighting force. Recommend he be killed on sight.
Katia
Bio: we don’t know much about the sniper commando known only as Katia, but her assassination of multiple high ranking members of the party in high security meetings means that we can’t be safe anywhere until she is eliminated.
You may want to consider naming your warp users "soothe seers". It isn't exactly a Japanese term more Chinese but it may be at least a good term to use to call an astropath by if not warp users in general.
Well so far the only warp users I have in any of my armies are Dostyevsky (not really a shinshiman, maybe from Volstog) and Toki (obviously from fenris) there aren't really any shinshiman warp users that I plan on making at the moment, but I'll keep that in mind.

hey Guys I've got the list ready for the Red Alert inspired army: link also I've got Kasmerov the Imprisoned ready, I know it's basically Crow but some interesting fluff will follow.
his basic rundown is that he was an inquisitor accused of heresy by his interrogator who wanted to get him out of the way. while the charges were unfounded no one really cared, so the inquisitor and his retinue were sentenced to inclusus teribles basically being being imprisoned in a suit of armor as a living statue to guard the sanctum of his former interrogator. it's similar to archo flagellation, but a bit different.
EDIT: here's the point total so far: Samurai: 1325 Vikings: 1120 Rebels: 150+500 point handicap=650
I'm not sure how that's RA themed, but cool. Nice job so far, been looking at inquisitorial henchmen bands for help for my RA3 list too. Have to take either IG allies or Coteaz though
well it's basically the steel ronin, but I think it's evolved to the point that this army will be inspired by RA. Also I seem to have strayed into Mass Effect, because two of my squad leaders are Quarians:
in the fluff they'll be ice nomads who wander the wastes outside Volstog's under ice cities. speaking of fluff I don't think I'll be able to get many models assembled this weekend with my parents coming to visit, so I'll be writing all the fluff for this stuff this weekend.
Jezze I just can't keep my word can I? I've got some intro fluff for Kasmerov the imprisoned:
Around former inquisitor Kasmerov as an endless void of nothingness, the dream world he lived in most of what could now be considered his life. As torturous as it was to live in nothingness the times when he left here were worse. In reality he was sealed inside a suit of ornamental power armor, cybernetics kept him alive, and when his dark master wanted they would turn him into a killing machine to slaughter the innocent wholesale. The suit stood outside the palace of Valerian Reznove, his former interrogator, and when he flipped a switch Kasmerov and the other twenty of his acolytes would be able to move, and were pumped full of frenzon to the point that they were forced into a berserk rage. Perhaps it had been keeping a retinue of psychers that had made it so easy for Reznove to accuse him of heresy, but in truth Kasmerov was on the cusp of discovering the fall of his own interrogator. It was that accursed blade’s fault, the inquisitor was sure it was tainted.
“Kasmerov, are you there?” a female voice said.
“who’s there? Are you just another figment of my imagination like the others?” sometimes kasmerov would swear he could hear his acolytes screaming out for him, but he couldn’t respond.
“no old friend, I am not.” A figure in the suited garb of an ice nomad materialized in front of him. Her face was covered by the nomad’s traditional helmet.
“great now I’m seeing ice scrapers. What do you want?”
“tomorrow there will be a protest outside the palace. Reznov will activate you for sure, but I’ve turned off your auto injectors. You and your men will be free from his control. When he activates you lead your men to the surface and find my crawler one click to the south of the city.”
“and just who are you?”
“a friend Kasmerov, a friend.”
Interesting. This is turning into a full-blown narrative! just add all of the previous posts together and fill in some blank spots with GS and whammo! A short story!
hey got the first half of a purifier squad done, plus fluff:
The sun had just begun to shine through the ice dome covering the city, and already a massive crowd had gathered in front of the palace. From the highest tower Valarian Reznove surveyed the crowd. Standing next to him was his son Valarian the 2nd. “father shall I activate the statues?”
“my thoughts exactly son, show them what it means to defy me.” Valerian the 2nd strode over to a large red button and pressed it. all according to plan.
“pardon me father but I’d rather go visit mother than watch this boring one sided fight.”
“fine, you never had the stomach to witness the hard decisions anyway. Enjoy your time in the menagerie.”
Down below the twenty one imprisoned activated. At first they tensed up, waiting for the berserk rage of the frenzon they so hated. After a few minutes they looked around at each other, something had gone right. “men, our injectors have been disabled.” Kasmerov announced to his acolytes. “movement pattern scattered wind, rally point a crawler one click south of the city.” The men nodded and split up into their five man scattered wind escape groups. Each would take a different route to the rally point to minimize the chances that they would all be captured or killed. The four groups took off in four different directions as Kasmerov strode up to one of the protestors. “tell me, what are you protesting?”
The man trembled in fear, everyone knew of the brutality of the palace statues, and even when they did not attack it made people uneasy. “a man was arrested for taking fence posts to feed his stove, he is to be executed tomorrow. We want him freed.”
“is lack of fuel a common problem?”
“lack of food, fuel, medicine, hope, these are the problems facing a modern Volstogan.”
“thank you, I shall try to amend these problems as best I can.” Kasmerov walked away from the man, who was still trembling, and began walking his own scattered wind path. At the back door of the palace a man in the garb of an ice nomad peeked his head out the door, checked to see that the way was clear, and dashed off to an unknown location.

(the guards release Zolt who begins throwing lightning bolts at the Black Shadow, who in one leap pins Zolt against the ground. Black Shadow places two fingers and a thumb on Zolt’s temples and the lightning around zolt begins to fade, and he falls to the floor passed out.)
Black Shadow: his abilities are gone, forever. The era of psyker domination of this planet is over, a new golden age has begun!

“they won’t, no one has to know that myself and the black shadow are the same person. That’s the beauty of a mask. When the time is right I will reveal myself and the black shadow will hand over power to me.” he took a sip of the vodka that this planet was known for, which had stayed in abundance because that was what the tithes were paid in. “so you know my story, what’s yours? I don’t even know your real name yet.”
“well my name is Katia, my full name is Katarina Oleg Reznove, daughter of Valarian Reznove and Katrina Oleg.” Vlad spit out his vodka. She had said it so nonchalantly, and yet she was the daughter of the man he was trying to overthrow. “oh don’t worry I have my reasons to want my father dead. My birth was not exactly consentual, my father wanted a psyker child to inherit his throne, but when I was born normal he sent my mother to his menagerie.”
“his menagerie?”
“it’s his private zoo of mutant horrors, he sends people there who displease him. His “keeper” Dr. Moreau gives them an injection that mutates them into half beast mutants and puts them in cages for my father’s inner circle to gawk at. One day my brother and I hope we can save our mother and the others from their fate.”
“that’s terrible, I’m so sorry.”
“don’t be, be angry, channel your anger and use it to serve the Emperor. A wise man one told me that.”
“who?”
“an inquisitor by the name of kasmerov. He also said: enjoy the time you have, because tomorrow you may be dead.”
Vlad raised his bottle. “I’ll drink to that.”

Arthur and Ingrid approached the worn down cabin outside Sylbrook, this was where the journal had led them, the last known location of the couple who’s love ignited this war. As they approached the cabin they could see signs of a long over struggle, the skeleton of a man in rusted chainmail lay on the porch, around him were several other skeletons. “that doesn’t look like a good sign for the heir’s survival.” Alfred said.
“no it doesn’t.” Ingrid replied. They entered the cabin and found the bones of what looked like a woman in a dress hanging from the side of a crib. “it looked like she died trying to protect whatever was inside that crib.”
“probably the heir.”
“quite right young thane.” Said a voice from behind them. They spun around and drew their weapons. Behind them was a man in green robes with a long grey beard.
“Himdal?”
“hello Ingrid.” The man said. She lowered her sword and embraced the man. “tell me what brings you here?” he asked her.
“we’re looking for the heir of two thrones.” Alfred said.
“then I’m afraid your search is in vain.” Himdal replied.
“he’s dead isn’t he?” Ingrid frowned.
“oh no, she is quite alive little one, she is you.”
“WHAT!” Ingrid stammered.
Himdal approached the bones of the woman. “do you remember your locket, the one you’ve always had?” he asked her.
“you mean the on with the picture of my parents?”
“precisely.” She took a small locket out from around her neck and opened it. inside was a small painting of a man and a woman holding their hands together. On the woman’s finger was a sapphire ring, the same as the one on the skeleton.
“by the emperor, they’re my parents.” She stammered. “why didn’t you tell me who I was?”
“you weren’t ready, but now you are. The plans are coming to fruition, if you had revealed yourself before the proper time you would have been killed, but now through our guiding hand everything is in place. an army is gathering at the most defensible place on the planet: the silver pinnacle. Now with our help you can fulfill your destiny and reclaim this planet for its people.”
“and just who is we?” Alfred asked.
“why the untotten of course, we’ve been manipulating events on this planet with the overall goal of returning the throne to its proper heir.”
“and why did you attack the astates?” Alfred asked.
“because we needed them at the pinnacle, and there were no casualties correct? No harm no foul.”
“so what do I do now?” Ingrid asked.
“I will announce you through all our communication channels, with any luck the dynasties will come for you. in the pinnacle you will be safe, and when their resources are exhausted you will lead the counterattack to drive them from this planet once and for all.”
“sounds like you’ve planned this out.” Alfred said.
“yes many years ago.” Himdal replied.

Automatically Appended Next Post: Interrogation report of one Katia, terrorist agent My lord our psychic interrogations of this prisoner have revealed much about the command structure of the terrorist origination known as the Brotherhood of the Sword.
Their primary agents are simple rebel militants. They are trained en mass at secret camps located under the ice wastes. They are then assigned to cells in our cities where they plan and plot operations mostly independent of each other. Beware, some are armed with special weapons.
Each cell is led by a member of a more elite organization within the brotherhood known as the Black Hand. they would be considered officers in our military. They are also the only link a cell has with the larger command structure. It is advised that we eliminate Black Hands first to sever the cells link with their chain of command.
It seems that the black hand also has its own cells specializing in rapid assault and close quarters combat. It seems that these are probationary members of the Black Hand, either still in training or waiting to be given a cell. Advise caution, they are lethal in close quarters and they have been trained to remove all fear from their minds.
In the upper echelons of the black hand are what is known as “Sword Brothers.” They are the bodyguards of important members and are armed with much better weapons than their fellow members. Do not target them directly, instead target their charge, they will sacrifice themselves for that charge making it easier to eliminate them.
It seems that this organization even has its own version of a commissar, they call them confessors, and their purpose is the same.
As for the status of the prisoner, it has been requested that she be transferred to the menagerie. The doctor was quite happy to see her when she arrived.
some fluff on how they rescued Katia, and what her model looks like:
Vladimir Adma entered the “menagerie” accompanied by Valarian the second. The room was decorated with gilded opulence, sumptuous carpets lay in the spaces between cages holding all sorts of half man-half beasts. In the corner was a man in a stained lab coat. He looked up from whatever he was scribbling on a piece of paper and jogged over to the pair. “Ah, Mr. Alfred Adama, so nice to meet you.” Vladimir had used his cousin’s name to avoid suspicion and had entered the palace with the ruse of wanting to establish trade relations with the planet, he was lucky no one remembered his mother’s maiden name, or her affiliation with the dynasty.
“like my father, Mr. Adama is a collector of exotic pets.” Valarian said. “I thought he would be interested in seeing your collection.”
“Oh it’s not a collection, this is my life’s work!” Exclaimed the doctor. “you see humans are stuck in an evolutionary rut, we need to adapt to survive, but at the same time we cannot sacrifice our humanity. So I’ve created a workaround. Come I just had a new patient come in, your sister Katrina.” He scurried away towards a cage containing a massive cocoon. “I think your line holds the key to my research. I’ve already learned so much from your mother, now I think I’ve perfected this process with your sister.”
“so I’m told you inject them with something and they mutate?” Vlad asked.
“oh no Mr. Adama, the injection just prepares their body to interface with the grafts. Once they are injected they are put in a chrysalis filled with programed bio matter. The grafts literally grow onto them, interfacing with the nervous system and senses. Underneath they are still human. Eventually I plan to be able for them to put the grafts on and off like you would a coat or a pair of pants, and I think your sister may be the first one I’m capable of doing that to. When she emerges I will analyze her and see if I can remove the grafts.”
“and just what did you hybridize my sister with doctor?” Valarian asked.
“ah yes, animals with endoskeletons are much too hard to remove, so I’m working with bugs now. Your sister has received grafts from the quad-eyed segmented arachnid of galvex prime. We should be able to see the results any minute now.”
The chrysalis began to shake like something inside of it was waking up. “Valy, Vlad, is that you?” a hissing voice came from inside the chrysalis.
“I’m here sis, but it’s not Vlad it’s his cousin Alfred.”
“Really? you sound just like him. Oh I wish he was here, I’m scared, and I just want him to hold me like he did that night I got shot.”
“It’s ok I’ll tell him you said that.” Vlad said. Vlad exchanged a knowing look at Valarian, who stuck his hand in his pocket and fidgeted with his ring. They were both thinking the same thing: chances were they were going to be double in-laws.
The Cyrsalis began to shake again and bulge in the middle as what looked like four talons struggled to free themselves from its embrace. Then with a ripping sound the chrysalis tore open, and a spider-like figure fell to the ground in front of it.
“by the empeor!” she hissed. “I’m a freak!” she burst up and used her new spider legs to climb up to the ceiling of the cage where they couldn’t see her. “go away.” She moaned.
“oh but you’re beautiful.” The doctor said.
“actually I’d have to disagree.” The click of a bolt pistol cocking came from behind the doctor. Valarian stood behind him pointing a bolt pistol at his neck. “fix her, or I’ll fix you.” he said.
“I wish I knew how.” The doctor smirked. “and if you kill me you’ll never find out how to remove the grafts.”
“quite right, that’s why you’re coming with us.” Vlad said removing a pair of armored gloves from his belt and placing them on his hands. He made a rising gesture with his right hand and the doctor lifted up into the air, clutching his neck as if someone was strangling him.
“you’re a psyker!” the doctor gasped.
“no, these gloves let me manipulate the water in your body. You’re my puppet until I say so. Now you’re going to open the cells and then you’re coming with us.”

The cells of the menagerie slid open as Vlad used his aqua gloves to force the doctor to use the retinal scanner. The mutants, or were they mutants, began to step out of their cells. There was an uproar as they began to scream, squawk and make other sounds, then it all went to hell. The creatures began to turn on each other, letting their animal instincts overtake them. Some of them began to close in on Vlad and the doctor. “you really shouldn’t have done that.” The doctor said. “most of them have gone feral, I only have one patient who hasn’t lost her mind.” as the creatures closed in Vlad prepared to sever their spinal cords with his aqua gloves. Then the sound of shotguns burst from the intake door. Valarian the second was there with a squad of Black Hand members armed with shotguns.
“I didn’t actually believe him when he said they were feral all these years, I guess you were right doctor.” Valarian said. “waiting on your order to put them down.”
“do it!” Vlad ordered. The Black Hands began the grim work of cutting the feral patients down. When the work was done there were only two patients left, both still in their cages. One was a moth woman, and the other was Katia, who had fled into the dark roof of her cell and had enveloped it in web. One of the Black Hands leveled his shotgun at the moth woman.
“permission to terminate sir?”
“denied.” Valarian said. “that’s my mother, I can assure you she’s not feral.” The moth woman cowered in the corner of her cell. Valarian approached her. “mother, it’s ok, you’re free, but he got Katia.”
“oh Emperor.” The moth woman cried. “she hasn’t gone feral has she?”
“I don’t know.” Valarian called out to his sister: “Katia, are you alright?”
The only response he got was a hiss from the top of the cell. A Black Hand stepped into the cell and scanned the ceiling webs. “nothing sir.” As he spoke those words a beam of web shot out of the ceiling and pulled the man into the darkness. He screamed as she pulled him to an unknown fate. The other black hands prepared to fire on every point in the ceiling.
“wait, rock salt rounds only, we need her alive.” Vlad said.
The black hands loaded the rock salt rounds and sprayed the top of the cell with rock salt fire. The unconscious body of Katia and the black hand fell to the floor.
“take them to the extraction point, and plant the cover-up charges I want this place to be a smoking crater.”
“yes sir!”

The five long fangs were enjoying themselves guzzling ale as they performed lookout duty on the landing pad of the silver pinnacle. The four oldest ones were having a good time, the youngest not so much. “I don’t see how you can enjoy just sitting here.” he complained. The others just laughed.
“pup when will you get it in your thick skull that this is a very cushy assignment?” their leader said.
“really? we’re sitting here drinking when we should be out winning glory in battle!” there were rumors that this one had been promoted by Toki as vengeance on the squad leader for being beaten in a drinking completion, because the kid seemed more like a blood claw than a long fang.
“ok you want to win glory in combat how about this,” the squad leader pointed to a giant falcon circling around the tree line. “see that mountain roc? I think it looks like a fine meal, go catch it and bring it back here so we can cook it.”
“does it look like I have wings? How do you expect me to catch a giant bird?”
“well you’ve got a missile launcher right? Use your brain.” The neophyte squad member shouldered his missile launcher and loaded a flash-bang missile.
He zeroed in on his target. “bye, bye birdie!” he pulled the trigger and the missile streaked off right past the bird and off into the distance.
“wow, can’t even hit a bird with a guided missile. I’m starting to believe the rumors about you.” just then an explosion ripped the air off in the distance where the missile went.
“guys, we’ve got company!” the youngest said. “I’ve got three avengers escorting nine Valkyries on my scope.” The long fangs dropped their revelry and picked up their missile launchers, the squad leader manned a quad gun.
“alright pup, you wanted action you got it. take out the avengers first, I’ll focus on the Valkyries.”

Carapace has grown to cover all epidermis, web like topknot has replaced hair. As soon as possible I will begin procedure to remove carapace with aid of removal serum. In the meantime I must submit myself to the removal process to make sure it works before I try it on Katia. Records of Magos Biologis Katrina Oleg. Procedure worked, my carapace has been removed and I am capable of donning and removing it and integrating it with my nervous system without any ill effects. Will perform procedure on Katia, and hopefully that will return her mind to her. preparing the emperor’s peace just in case. Servitor end recording.
now here's another question: what happened to Vlad? the authorities did indeed kill the Black Shadow that night they rescued Katia, but what happened to Vlad? is that his body on display for anyone with a throne to view, or did he somehow cheat death? find out tomorrow.
also just an update: I'm currently working on finishing the samurai IG, even though they have the most points (so sue me). mostly because I need Shiro to take on the mantle of Black Shadow in the finale of the rebel storyline. which is probably making you wonder what happened to Vlad even more (I know I am).

She aimed for his legs, attempting to hit the femoral artery. A shot rang out and the doctor fell clutching his leg. Then another and the doctor’s shoulder exploded in a burst of gore. She paused her shots, watching him through her scope as the doctor’s life bled out onto the pavement. “goodbye doctor, see you in hell.” Katia hissed.

“princess”: the holo recording didn’t lie, my father did indeed leave something for us. The Returned are indeed real. Over

Anastasia entered the now lit bunker alongside Valarian the second. they both wore the uniforms of the ice nomads she had been living with since her father was overthrown. as soon as her foot crossed the doorway a mechanical voice came over the speakers. "Medvedev detected, name: Anastasia. rank: princess. transferring control procedures to her now.”
“who’s there?” they readied their weapons.
The mechanical voice came again, this time over the vox integrated into their helmets. “I am legion for we are many.” A panel slid open next to them, revealing a circular room with a set of mechanical arms hanging from the ceiling. “please step into the fitting room.”
“fitting for what?” she asked the voice.
“a cyber-neurological command interface. Now please step into the fitting room.” The power armored legs of her nomad suit began to move on their own, walking her towards the room.
“Valy help!” she screamed.
Valarian raised his weapon looking for some control interface to shoot at. “please do not take aggressive action, you are expendable.” Valarian’s suit froze up, and then it aimed his own weapon at his head. Anastasia was in the room now, and the mechanical hands grabbed her by her waist, her arms, and her legs, raising her into the air. “beginning access to target areas.” Two saws lowered from the ceiling and began cutting away at her suit, stripping her naked. She struggled as the arms held her tight above the ground. Valarian could only watch. “beginning implantation.” A large needle lowered from the ceiling and stabbed her in the neck. She screamed as the needle withdrew, leaving a bio mechanical interface jack behind. “Implanting ocular display.” Two smaller needles lowered and stabbed her near her tear ducts, and her eyes turned an unnatural shade of pure green. “interfacing and data transfer beginning.” A mechedendrite snaked out of the wall and plugged itself into her new data jack. She began to spasm as massive amounts of data was downloaded into her mind. “data transfer complete, armor fitting beginning.”
Pieces of what looked to be power armor revealed themselves from shelves in the walls, the arms grabbed them and placed them on her, sealing them onto her with a hiss. During the armor fitting she did not struggle, she knew what was happening and welcomed it now. When she was entirely armored the arms lowered her down and released her.
she walked over to Valarian and waved her hand across him. His armor responded to him again. “what the hell was that?” he asked her.
“my father’s final gift to me. Command of the returned.” She said. “legion wake the returned, they are required again.”
“yes my lady.”
records of Magos Biologis Katrina Oleg, these returned are fascinating. if what I am told is correct they are those who fell in the service of the inquisition, recycled into advance servitors to serve the imperium in death. I must contact the magos that made them, hopefully he's still alive and I haven't been declared officially dead.
(hey guys Yeri talking, I've shifted around the fluff a bit for my GK allies. they're cyborgs now made from those normally "liquidated" by the ordos mallius. also I've replaced Kasmerov with Anastasia who's model you can see in the story.)
actually no they're not marines. marines get mind wiped after seeing the grey knights. these are the guardsmen that witness the grey knights. they can't be allowed to live, but it's a waste to just kill them. so Inquisitor Medvedev came up with a work around: turn them into advanced servitors who serve him. Legion is the collective consciousness of five generals who witnessed the activities of the ordo mallius, and were mind wiped to serve as Legion's central processor. the implants Anastasia received allow her to interface with Legion and the other returned. she is now the center of a hive mind, and can control every action of the returned.
remember that line: "the Shadow lives in death" yea they don't think he's well and truly dead. plus most of the cells act independently with the highest authority in each cell being the black hand member. there are cases of one hand not talking to the other, but the Shadow was more a figurehead, a face of rebellion if you will.

“really? I don’t feel dead. And I know what your spin doctors are telling you to say right now, that I’m not the real Black Shadow. Well let me tell you: anyone who wears the mask and caries the ideals of freedom is the Black Shadow.” He turned to survey the crowd. “my people, I have returned. Never to leave your side until every last one of us tastes freedom. The regime sought to destroy me, but they have only made us stronger as a people. today is a new dawn for this planet, today we march forward into a new future, a stronger people, a free people. the time has come to take this planet back, the time has come to destroy the regime! We are united in one vision, and one purpose, freedom. And we will achieve freedom through power.”
The crowd began to chant: “freedom through power!”
“oh and Valarian, before I go, I have a little present for you. have you talked to your son today?” Valarian’s eyes widened, if the shadow could hijack the palace’s video screen he could get to his son and jeopardize his psyker breeding program before it produced results.
He dashed off to his son’s room, standing on a window sill was the Black Shadow with a recording servo skull in front of him. “goodbye Mr. Reznove.” The Shadow leaned backwards until he fell the ten stories to the ground below. Reznove looked out the window, nothing, but if he really had fallen he would certainly be dead. Reznove was puzzled, the shadow talked about a present, but he took and didn’t leave anything.
Then the front of the palace gates exploded, along with most of the major government buildings in the city. This was it, the present was the declaration of open war, and Reznove relished the chance to get out all the fun toys that the imperium didn’t want him to have.
yep and not only of the conventional kind, I'm talking NBCP (nuclear, biological, chemical, psyker) they're going to have a massive fight on their hands. also I've updated Anastassia's mini:

Anastasia’s implants have had a remarkable effect on her physiology. Her command interface has released small nano particles that are overwriting her biological functions, enhancing them with mechanical parts. Her heart now has a built in defibrillator, and her nervous system has been replaced with more efficient organic metal transmitters. She can even generate an outer coating of metal from a layer underneath her epidermis. This layer can even heal wounds rapidly by coating the area in a metal covering. At first I was worried that this would progress until she was entirely synthetic, but it seems her implant has stopped replacing parts. This has had little effect on her outer appearance except for the ability to change her eye color and being able to make a series of electoos appear and disappear.

Rectifying situation.” Valarian’s suit was under Legion’s control again, and he began to walk into the fitting chamber.
“Legion belay order!” she waved her hand in front of him, trying to interface with his suit.
“I’m sorry my lady but we cannot do that. Our core programing requires that we train and equip nascent psykers, and only by inquisitorial order can we prevent ourselves from performing such an order. Please produce your rosette now.”
“I don’t have one, I’m not an inquisitor.”
“then we cannot allow you to belay this order.” Valarian had entered the center of the room and the arms had grabbed him and suspended him above the ground. The saws lowered and carved off his helmet before shaving his head. “psychic block detected, removing.” A large needle lowered itself and stabbed him through the back of the skull. Lightning began to shoot from his eyes as the psychic inhibitor his mother had implanted in him at birth was removed. “my lady we must implant a data interface to train him, should we give him a command interface while we’re at it.”
Anastasia sighed. “do it, integrate his command interface with mine.”
“very well, you will be able to share your thoughts and feelings with him.” Legions voice changed to a high pitched man’s voice. “how kinky!” then his voice returned to its mechanical normal. “apologies my lady, general Lawrence momentarily took primary control. It will not happen again.” The large needle returned and just like before it stabbed him in the back of the neck, leaving a data jack behind.
“Implanting psychic control assistors.” Two smaller needles with sparkling transparent threads lowered themselves and stabbed him on either side of his head. The thread was shot into his scalp forming a lattice of psychic control wires. “beginning training.” The mechedendrite shot out of the wall and plugged into his jack. Anastasia could feel the psychic power resonating off her fiancé as the knowledge of psychic power was downloaded into his mind.
After a few minutes the mechedendrite retreated back into the wall. “initiating cosmetic cleanup.” A strange light lowered itself and began to shine onto his scalp, and his hair began to grow back at an amazing rate. Within a few minutes his hair was back to normal. “my lady, should we fit him with armor?”
“do it!” Valarian gasped.
“you heard him Legion.” She said.
“very well, we have a heavier armor that will accommodate his frame.”
“why didn’t you give me the heavy armor?” she asked.
“it doesn’t come in female sizes. We take it you approve?”
“yes do it.” the two saws returned and cut Valarian out of his suit and down to his boxers. Then the cabinets along the wall opened again and the arms placed the armor parts on to him. When he was fully armored the arms released him and he fell onto his armored feet with a thud. He walked over and embraced Anastasia.
“did I ever tell you how beautiful you are?” he said.
“you just did, you were just thinking about how beautiful my soul looked from your psychic eyes.”
“I thought I was the psyker here?”
“I am when it comes to you.” they both laughed.
“ah young love, reminds us of a time when we were young and foolish.” Legion said to itself.

Katia was restrained on the operating table, around her servitors and her mother worked to separate her from her spider carapace. It was unwise to put her under during this procedure, as her nervous system needed to be fully operational while the carapace was separated. As the servitors ripped back plates of her chitin her mother applied the removal serum to the area, causing the nerve connections to retreat back into her body. She wailed at the excruciating pain of having her exoskeleton pulled back exposing the nerves, and even more when they severed the nerves and cut them away. “it’s not working, she’s still feral.” Her mother cried.
But she wasn’t as feral as her mother believed, inside her mind as her carapace was removed her human mind returned. With her spidery mouth she could only hiss and wail, not talk. “I’m sorry baby, I failed you. I hope you can forgive me.” she reached over to the tool table and picked up the Carnifex tube. Katia saw this with all four of her eyes, and she saw the tears streaming down her face as she held the tube to her temple. “it’s ok honey, this will be painless.” She paused for a moment, then began to recite the ommnissia’s last rites. Performed correctly this took exactly sixteen seconds for the sixteen universal laws. Katia struggled to free her thorax, and at the ten second mark she freed her thorax and used her webs to gum up the tube. Her mother cried even more. “I know it’s scary honey, but it’s for your own good.” Katia shook her head. Then she used her web to write out a message on the wall:
“I’m me again.”
“what, Katia, you’re alright!” she embraced her arachnid daughter and Katia freed her extra arms and hugged her back. Her mother wiped the tears from her eyes. “alright so you can’t talk can you? let’s see if removing your faceplate works to get you’re your voice back.” The servitors went back to work, peeling back the carapace and severing the nerves. When they pulled off her face plate they had to be extremely careful as her optical nerves were connected to her four eyes, and a mass blocked her mouth with a tube running down her throat. “just as I suspected, you’ve been eating a liquid lunch since you came out of the chrysalis.” She applied the serum to the mass and the tube began to retreat into the mass, freeing her mouth to talk.
“Mom, thank you. I thought I would be trapped as a spider forever.” Over the next couple of hours they worked to remove the rest of the carapace. It was slow painful work, but finally a fully human Katia lay on the table, and her carapace had been assembled on another table.
“so you’re saying this is some kind of armor?” Katia asked.
“it is indeed, you should be able to put the carapace on and take it off now any time you like.”
“Will I go feral again?”
“unlikely, and I made it so that the surgical removal will only be required once. The injection you received allows your body to integrate with the carapace. It becomes your skin, but you can remove it like a jacket.”
“thanks, I’d like to take it for a test run if you don’t mind.”
“go ahead.”

Valantin: the uniforms were made for a competition to design the new military uniform. Apparently mine was too “traditional” and I lost to my rival Hugo, when you win wearing my uniforms, than it’s a victory for me over Hugo.

alright second round of characters done, this time it's The Black Shadow, and Anastasia:
if you can't tell yet the rebels have a red and black color scheme, I'll write some fluff about a possibly apocryphal story about how the Medvedevs can trace their ancestry back to one of the four lords and administrators who founded the inquisition, and that the inquisitorial black and red was his or her idea.
also for a guy leading a so called "terrorist group" it doesn't hurt that he sort of looks like Cobra Commander.
do not attempt to adjust your monitor, her eyes are indeed glowing green. that's one of the abilities her implants provide her with. her eyes glow green when she interfaces with Legion. I thought about making her skin silver like she had donned her metal shell, but then I realized why would she be wearing armor inside her armor. oh lord I can see it now:
"yo dawg I heard you like armor, so we put armor inside your armor. so you can wear your armor while you wear your armor."
I'll post some more fluff in the morning fleshing these characters out.

Automatically Appended Next Post: Alright I'm redoing Katia's mini, I'm just not feeling that a spider girl works for the theme of this army, so now she's a cyborg. here's how it happened:
Katia’s squad darted from one alley to another, always careful to stay in the shadows. Their objective was the capture of a regime stronghold on the west side of town. The hardest part would be the rush through the clearing outside the stronghold, and they were about to make the charge. “on my mark.” Just then the whistle of a mortar sounded. “take cover!” they hit the dirt and waited for the sound of the shell exploding, but there wasn’t any explosion, just a thud in their midst and the sound of a gas leak. “gas, gas, gas!” it would have little effect, they were all wearing gas masks to conceal their identities anyways. Then she heard one of her men scream. She looked back at him and saw her squad being enveloped by a green gas. Then the others started screaming, dropping their weapons and staring at their hands. Their leather gloves were melting into a green goo, and then their cotton uniforms. Soon even their bodies were beginning to melt into goo. She rushed over to them, but then she felt her carapace begin to soften. She looked at herself, her carapace was being turned into the green goo, exposing the breathing holes on her thorax. She struggled to breathe as the gas entered her body. She collapsed onto the ground just as the wind shifted the gas away.
“Katia, wake up” she heard Vlad say.
Initializing….. Her eyes fluttered open. her vision had become green tinted. “what happened to me?”
Vlad was standing over her, holding her hand, but something was wrong: her hand was silver. She burst up from the table she was laying on and examined herself. Her entire body was coated, or maybe made of a sliver metal. “by the emperor, what happened?”
“I’m sorry Katia, but it was the only way we could save you. that gas was a bio-phage, it eats biological material.”
“what did you do to me?”
“we implanted you with a Nano-Forge, it converted the damaged parts of your body into synthetic material until your body can heal.”
“so that’s why I look like a machine?”
“because you are part machine now. The Nano-Forge replaced your lungs with a cybernetic device, they were too damaged by the gas.”
“and my men?”
“I’m sorry, you’re the only survivor. Your carapace was what saved you. the gas went to work on it before it went to work on you.”
“so when will I look like my normal fleshy self again?”
“we don’t know, maybe a month, maybe a year, but eventually you will be back to looking human. Now is there anything you need?”
“just you, I just need you to be there for me.”
“of course.”

The guards escorted Valarian the second into the war room where his father was waiting, accompanying him was Anastasia disguised as a tech priestess with some robes she borrowed from Katrina. Reznove turned to look at his son. “ah I heard you escaped from the rebels, and that you’ve been having quite the adventure. Who is this?”
Anastasia realized he was talking about her. she pulled back her hood revealing her metal coated skin and wire hair. “I am Magos Adama, my temple was destroyed by the rebels and your son saved me.”
Reznove scanned her with his mind, but it was useless, her mind was unreadable due to her implants, but he did notice a change in his son. His eyes bulged. “son, what did the rebels do to your mind?”
“what do you mean father?”
“I detect a massive amount of psyker ability in you that I’ve never felt before. I’d say you’re a delta on the assignment.”
“my lord that was my doing. Your son was injured after he saved me, and while treating him I noticed a scar from the implantation of a psychic inhibitor. I removed it and fitted him with a control device to keep his powers in check.” Reznove’s advisors looked worried. An untrained delta level psyker could demolish the entire palace if he got out of control.
Reznove and the advisors had a quick psychic discussion, then he turned back to his son. “son I think it’s time we spent some quality father son time. Come with me.” he walked past the two and out the door, Valarian and Anastasia followed. Using the cyber link the two infiltrators communicated:
“where is he taking us?”
“the training room, it’s where his psyker officers practice their abilities.”
“is it safe?”
“yes, the walls of the rooms are inscribed with wards that prevent any accidents. You will be perfectly fine from the viewing room.” The trio passed four security doors leading to the underground training room. The room was a vast square arena with wall inscribed with a variety of occult symbols. Anastasia stayed in the library like viewing room as father and son took opposite sides of the arena. “ready son? This is going to be a sink or swim moment.” Reznove’s fists began to glow with lightning, and his son did the same. “I won’t go easy on you father, this is the first time you’ve actually seemed to take an interest in me. so I’d better make a good impression.”
Valarian made the first move, flinging a bolt of lightning at his father, who blocked with a psychic shield. Then Reznove made his move, breathing a gout of flame from his mouth, which Valarian dodged. “is that all you’ve got son? I’ve hardly gotten warmed up.”
Back in the viewing room Anastasia chatted with one of the attendants. “so what level is the king?”
“he’s only a Epsilon, that’s why he initiated his breeding program, so that his children would be more powerful than him.”
Back in the training room the pair attacked, dodged and blocked each other until they were both exhausted. The huffed and puffed, trying to summon one more attack. “you know father, I know a trick you don’t. would you like to see it?”
“I doubt you can pull off even a spark at this point.”
“oh yea? Then what do you fear?” Valarian’s form began to shift and change, his arms and legs lengthened and boney plates grew over his head. His teeth became razor sharp fangs and another pair of arms grew from his chest. Reznove recoiled in horror. “so,” the changed Valarian growled. “you fear tyranids. No, not tyranids, the hive mind that goes with them. Well then come her and give your son a hug.” He walked over towards his cowering father and embraced him while projecting the horrific memories of the shadow in the warp into his mind. Valarian released him and his father fell catatonically to the floor. Valarian’s form returned to his normal self. “I need to remember that trick.”
hey sorry I didn't have much updates yesterday, I was really busy. I had classes, two meetings, and I had to go see The Crucible for my theater class. it was very good, but IMHO if it runs for three hours it should start earlier than 8:00. anyways I was able to sneak a trip to the store in yesterday and got some parts I needed to build the new Katia mini, with fluff:
Katia examined herself in the mirror, her entire body was coated in a metal shell. The only features she could identify as hers was her faceplate, and she was sure that had been sculpted specifically to look like her. “so how do I eat, how do I got to the bathroom?” she noticed her mouth didn’t move when she talked, her mouth was permanently ajar, and when she spoke it lit up with her words.
“you don’t.” Vlad said. “your shell provides life support from an energy core implanted in your chest.”
“so will I ever be able to take this shell off?”
“hopefully, when you sleep you should plug yourself into a power source. The extra juice will accelerate the healing process.”
“and what about fighting, can I still do that?”
“I should talk to you about that. Your shell won’t suffice for proper armor, it will stop an unpowered knife and other primitive weapons, but not much else. Anastasia had a suit of armor made that integrates with your shell.” He reached into his bag and pulled out a triangular plate. He walked over to Katia and placed it on a jack in her back. Katia heard the sound of metal scraping against metal, and felt something unfurling on her back. The segmented plates spread down her spine, then rectangular plates extended from those and enveloped her torso before spreading to the front of her legs, leaving the back of her legs and her feet uncovered. She admired herself in the mirror.
“I can work with this, but it needs something more.” She walked over to Vlad and stroked he cheek with one hand while undoing the clasp of his cape with the other. In one fluid movement she stole his cape and placed it on her back, then commanded her nano-metal shell to incorporate it into her armor. In seconds the nano particles transformed the jet black cape into a silver metal weave fabric.
“hey, I liked that cape.” Vlad protested.
“well it looks better on me.” Katia chuckled. “besides you have more.” Katia looked at herself in the mirror again. “this could work.” She thought to herself.
Also I've got part of a prototype for the russes ready. they're based on the stealth tank from the C&C series, because this army has kind of shifted into NOD territory. It's got fluff that I need to finish later:

Reznove lay in his bed recovering from the shock his son had inflicted on him. When Valarain entered the room he told him: “that was quite the display of skill son, and because you have proved yourself worthy I’m going to give you a reward: your very own command. Pick any unit in the planetary defense force, it’s yours.”
Valarian considered for a moment. “I’d like the 51st Reclamation company.”
“and here I expected you to choose a frontline company, very well, go play with the scavengers out in the ice wastes.” Valarian and Anastasia communicated over their implants:
“what’s a reclamation company?”
“it’s a company who wanders the ice wastes looking for archeo-tech to develop into new weapons systems. It’s far from the capitol and the commander was a close friend of your father. My father has used the 51st to exile members of the old regime who are either too small or too popular to execute. They can be convinced to join the rebellion.”
“are they good fighters?”
“no, they play a support role, they can get us the best vehicles and weapons for the rest of our troops, and they are rarely checked up on.”
The transport had landed in the hanger of the massive moving base that the 51st called home. They were approached by a tech priest with most of his body replaced by cybernetics. “greetings my lord, I’m Thomas, former commander of this unit as of the moment you got off the transport.”
“don’t call me lord, however you may call her princess.” He gestured to Anastasia who threw back her hood revealing her face.
“by the emperor, Princess Anastasia, you’re alive! And you look just like your mother now.” Thomas said.
“did you know my mother?” she asked him.
“you mean to tell me you don’t remember your Uncle Tom?”
“you’re my uncle?”
“no, not by blood or marriage, but your father considered the members of his retinue to be his brothers and sisters in battle, and I was his chief mechanic. I’m surprised you don’t remember riding me like a horse when you were just three years old.” Thomas let out a mechanical sigh. “we can catch up later, but look at you now, you seductive vixen you, you’ve won Reznove’s own son to your side.”
“I joined the revolution before I met Anastasia. I needed little convincing.” Valarian said. “right now we need your help to supply the revolution with advanced weaponry. Can we trust your men?”
“this unit is a dumping ground for members of the old regime, they have no love for the current king. However we can’t be open in our allegiance here. one of your father’s thugs keeps us in line. If we can eliminate him we can announce to the men our intentions. Think you could relieve him of duty?”
“that can be done.”
“in the meantime I’ll show the princess our latest work.”
“what is it?” Anastasia asked him. He was showing her what looked to be a Leman Russ with its treads replaced with three legs and what looked to be space for a fourth.
“it’s a special multi-terrain Leman Russ. We found the schematics for the suspension system in a frozen over colony, and we mated the system with a Leman Russ chassis, and when it’s done it will be able to navigate the roughest terrain with ease. We just need a few tires from a motorcycle and we’ll be ready to go.”
“and how soon can you get this to the rebels?”
“as soon as it’s ready.”

alright, so it turns out that making my rebel IG into an inquisitorial henchmen army would actually be cheaper than finishing the IG army, so while the basic rebels are still IG, the army is now purely made of the Black Hand. and the protagonists now have a goal beyond overthrowing the regime: they need to unite Vlad and Anastassia's father's inner circle called the Black Disciples. here's the fluff:
Things were not going well for the rebels. The recent bio-phage gas attacks had forced them out of the cities for fear of civilians being injured. They had fallen back to their secret bunkers in the ice wastes to wage a guerrilla war. Vlad and Katia entered the bunker where Anastasia had found the Returned, accompanied by a team of Black Hands. Legion came over the loudspeaker: “Medvedev detected, please enter the fitting room.”
“Legion, belay that order!” Vlad said.
“such an action requires inquisitorial clearance, please produce your rossirus.” Vlad held his hand to his face, and the black hands chuckled. Vlad reached into his pocket and produced a symbol of the inquisition. “Rossirus approved, welcome Inquisitor Vladimir Medvedev .” Katia was sure her eyes were bulging inside her shell.
“you’re, you’re, you’re an Inquisitor?”
He sighed. “yes I am. I hope that doesn’t change you view of me.”
“why didn’t you tell me?”
“because introducing yourself to someone as an inquisitor tends to dampen any feelings someone has towards you, and I wanted you to know me for who I am, not fear me for my occupation.” She put her hands around him and held her mouth to his. She couldn’t exactly kiss him with her shell, but she did her best.
“well it worked, I know you and love you for who you are, and I don’t care what you do.”
After settling in Vlad called a meeting of his top advisors. “gentlemen,” he looked towards Katia. “and lady, our recent change of plans has caused us to need to rethink our strategy. We can no longer fight house to house in the cities. Now we must use the vastness of the wastes to our advantage. However we can’t disregard the cities entirely.to this end I propose an elite hit and run fighting force made up of our best of the best. Gentlemen I propose that we reform the Black Guard.”
Katia raised her hand. “I’m sorry, but what’s the Black Guard?”
“the Black Disciples were the elite unit of the Black Hand, they were the inner circle of the Medvedev Inquisitors, however when Reznove rose up most of the leaders the Black Disciples were hunted down and killed.” Legion said. “We believe it is wise to reform the Guard, it shows a return to normalcy for the Medvedevs. Sir, we have a list of those who will be most effective. Miss. Katia is on it, and so is Mr. Valarian and your sister as well as fifty six others with support personnel.”
“Very well Legion, gather them.”
“yes master.”

Origin: "Alexi" greetings brother, I've received word that you've trained your new student in the basics of the inquisition, and that you have done an impeccable job given the circumstances. however I believe that this fifteen requires a more specialized teacher for the rest of his education, I believe you know the boy. he's the one you guided to illumination during the incident on black ship 1372, and then who served as your interrogator before you gave him fill inquisitor status. as you may be aware he possesses the same ability of demonic metamorphosis as your student. I believe if your student is to fully utilize this ability he must be trained by Inquisitor Medvedev, a transport will arrive in the next few days to transport fifteen to Volstog where your former student is based. I hope this doesn't cause you any significant inconvenience.
hey everyone, I've got an update. the rebel IG army has now split into three armies: one is the Black Guard with all four characters in it (inquisitor henchmen GK) one is basic rebels led by Vlad and Katia (mech vets IG) and the third is made entirely of the Returned led by Anastasia and Valerian (just realized I've been spelling his name wrong this whole time ) (purifier spam GK) also I've changed around some of the character's model types to fit the new lists. here's what everyone is:

Anastasia: techmarine in the Black guard list (support armor suit) Crow in the Returned list (command armor suit)

it's hard to tell from the pic but her hair is copper, her armor is gunmetal, and her metallic skin is a brighter silver color, and of course her robot ears are red to tie her into the rest of the army.
you may be wondering why 15 has been transferred to Volstog, well there are secrets to his past there, some of them will be revealed right now:
Aton Slavic lay bound to an execution table. He had languished in a high security cell for almost twenty years. As a Black Disciple he was especially important to the regime, one of their “rainy day prisoners” to be executed whenever the population got uppity. Judging by the increased security around his prison there must be a full blown revolution. Through the glass he could see a red headed reporter there to broadcast his death live to anyone with a vox tube. Her hair reminded him of his daughter Alyssa, she would be about her age now. He fought back a tear at the thought of his daughter, the last time he had seen her she was being carried away by the secret police along with her childhood friend Gideon. Where the two of them were now he did not know. The reporter spun around to gesture at him through the glass and he saw her face, her eyes. She winked at him, could it really be her?
“beginning toxin infusion.” The executioner stated. Anton saw the green fluid creeping down the tubes to the IV in his neck. He had been told there would be no sedatives in this cocktail that was a blessing and a curse. On one hand he would die slower, allowing more time for a rescue, on the other, he would die slower, making him feel every last second of pain before going to join the emperor.
The reporter seemed to pull a mask out of thin air, a white mask with three petal-like extensions. She placed it on her face and suddenly a white fluid began to emanate from her, enveloping her. the fluid began to solidify and the reporter was transformed, covered in bone white armor. The guards tried to fire at her but two of their would be comrades instead turned their guns on them while the armored reporter pointed a boney finger at the glass and it shattered at her touch. She leapt onto the table and with a slash of her claw like fingers she severed the toxin tube which was already pumping into Anton’s bloodstream. “Daddy, I’m here to save you, come with me.” the reporter said in an almost demonic voice. Behind the table the executioner pulled a pistol and fired point blank into the center of the table, penetrating through it and striking Anton in the back.
Anton struggled to remain conscious, but it was too much. He clasped his daughter’s hand and with what he thought was his last act told her: “you will never know how proud I am of you honey.” He wanted to say more, but that was all he could manage, and his world faded to black.
“daddy, daddy? Daddy wake up!” Anton felt the cold steel through his prison outfit, or was it his prison outfit? He opened his eyes. Standing over him was the reporter. Behind her were four figures, one had an uncanny resemblance to Inquisitor Medvedev, another, a woman, had his green eyes, the third he knew as Valerian Reznove the second, and the third appeared to be a silver coated servitor in the shape of a woman.
“we thought we had lost you there for a moment general. It’s a good thing you survived as I can think of no one better to lead the forces of the revolution in battle than you, Supreme Commander Slavic.” The man saluted him, and Slavic’s groggy arm attempted to return the gesture. The man could see the puzzlement on Slavic’s face. “I apologize, I forget you’ve been confined to solitary for almost twenty years. The sit rep can wait until morning, for now try to enjoy being dead.” The man flipped on a vox tube to the news.
“the result being rebel forces losing valuable ground. In other news Anton Slavic’s body was burned today in the fires of an unnamed manufactorum, as is the custom with traitors. In a realted story we were all saddened to learn that our colleague Susana Christos was killed today when rebels shelled her home. We here at BNN have offered a five thousand throne reward for any information leading the killing or capture of any of the guilty rebels known as the Black Hand.” the man flipped the vox tube off.
“congratulations Alyssa you’re officially dead.” The man said.
“too bad, I was just getting used to being called Susana, but I think I can swing this in our favor. If you can get me into the BNN studios I can air the regime’s dirty laundry on live VT.”
“can you do it with a few squads of Black Hands? I’ve got a VIP that needs to be welcomed in the next couple of days.”
“I could do it by myself if the camera was automated.”
Funny I am just working on my 'Black Shadows' as well , pretty much doing the same as yours with the GreatCoat troopers , for a 7TV game of Action Force (look up English GI Joe analogy)..

oh I highly recommend them, they look good once they're painted (I think they use recycled plastic from old sprues so sometimes there are two colors of plastic mixed in one mini, they should really advertize that more, could be a nice selling point) anyways I've got a model for Alyssa and some fluff continuing where we left off:
Maycheck sat down in his anchor chair to do his evening broadcast. The “on air” light came on and he turned on his practiced charm. “Welcome citizens, this is your only source for reliable news BNN. Our top story tonight: reliable reports have confirmed that-“ to his surprise his supposedly dead co-worker Susana Christos entered the studio and took a seat at the anchor chair next to him. “well this is a surprise, we had been told you were dead.”
“I can assure you I’m very much alive, and I’ve got a big news piece. Mind if I take over?” she said.
“um, sure go ahead.”
She produced a vial of milky white liquid from her pocket. “citizens this is Lot Forty Nine, a secret project by the regime.”
“and what does it do Susana?”
“it turns men into monsters.”
“what do you mean?” he said with an inquisitive face.
“originally made by the former king Medvedev to treat a very specific type of madness, the current regime has used the side effects to create super-soldiers bound to their control.”
“that’s a major allegation Susana, we’re going to need some proof.”
“of course Maycheck, and my name isn’t Susana, my real name is Alyssa Slavic, and I was a test subject of this program.” She held out her hand and a bone white mask formed in it. “let me show you the results.” She placed the mask on her face and the milky white liquid formed her armor.
“believe me now Maycheck?” her voice had become demonic yet sensual.
“by the emperor what are you?” Maycheck stammered.
“I am death, sent by the emperor to punish the heretics for their sins. Reznove if you’re listening, I’m coming for you!”
Yeri here, there's no good way to explain what Lot Forty Nine does in universe so I'm going to tell you out of universe: Lot Forty Nine is an exorcism in a syringe. when injected into a possessed person it gives them the ability to fight back against the daemon possessing them. it also allows the demoniac to overpower the daemon with enough willpower and consume it. a consumed daemon's essence is added to the soul of the possessed, changing it into something more powerful and allowing them to assume a demonic form. here's the rub: if you inject Lot Forty Nine into someone who is not possessed any daemon nearby will come running to possess the person, and the battle to consume the daemon becomes harder. Alyssa and fifteen are both test subjects of experiments with Lot Forty Nine, and Vlad received a dose from inquisitor Dostoyevsky when he was possessed by a greater daemon during his inquisitorial training. the powers that manifest from Lot Forty Nine depend on weather the recipient was possessed before or after receiving a dose. those who are possessed before wind up much stronger than those who are injected before possession. here is a rundown of the daemons who possessed the introduced characters:
Vlad: Changer of ways (subject's control of psychic powers increased.)
Fifteen: Blood Letter (subject displays much improved martial ability while wearing mask)
Alyssa: Demonette (subject displays increased sensory abilities and increased negotiation skills while wearing mask)

The Black Shadow surveyed the three cells assembled in the muster room of the bunker. thirty three men, six of them black hand, one of them a Loter (someone who has received Lot Forty Nine) like him, one experimental tank, twelve meltaguns, three shotguns and eighteen lasguns. this was all he had, this was what he had to work with at the moment, and he had to take a city with it. lucky for him the locals would be pitching in. "men," he announced. "as of four hours ago the former capitol of St. Thorinsberg has entered into open rebellion. at the current situation the uprising will be quelled in a few days. we are all that is available to relieve them. I know some of you are from St. Thorinsberg, so for you this will be a sort of triumphant homecoming. get in the transports we take off in ten minutes." a cheer came up from the assembled rebels. it was time to turn the tide.
(hey guys I've got three squads of rebels done, and I'm working on some of the Black Guard. you'll be able to tell them apart from regular rebels because they have different face masks.)
There was a parade atmosphere as the rebels disembarked from their transports. It seemed the whole city had come out to welcome them. They marched in formation down the main street as the crowds cheered. Far from being overwhelmed it seemed that the local rebels had driven the regime forces out of town. The precession stopped at the local government citadel in the center of the city where a man wearing the uniform of the regime marched up to the Black Shadow and saluted him. “Captain Zerkova reporting for duty sir!”
“at ease.” The Black Shadow said. “you wear the regime’s uniform, are you a defector?”
“yes sir, as of two hours ago my men and I fight to restore Volstog.”
“what changed your mind?”
“sir I’m an emperor fearing man, and my CO gave us an order that just didn’t sit right with us. He ordered us to bombard the city with mutagen gas and blame you for it. the planetary governor is calling some meeting of inquisitors to level charges against you, and he wanted to blame the mutation of the civilians here on you as evidence.”
“this is grave news indeed. I believe this requires that I reveal my face. Captain call the people here. in one hour I will address them.”
The captain saluted again. “yes sir!”

yep, once this army stayed away from RA it landed firmly in NOD territory. I actually ripped most of that scene where Alyssa rescues Slavic from Tiberium Sun. her alias of Susana Christos was because I couldn't spell the blond chick's name right. even the fact that Slavic has a daughter named Alyssa is ripped off from Tiberium Twilight.

Hello bro, I saw your speech on the vox tube. anyways we here at the 51st have heard about your transports not being able to fly once the winter storms kick in, so we've developed a new variant of the Chimera for you to use. the controls are like driving a car, so it should be simple to train someone with. we're tuning the mobile factory we have here to start cranking these things out as soon as possible. also I'm sending an old friend of ours to meet with you in St. Thorinsberg, I think you remember our old tutor Duncan? he's been hiding out in the outposts in the deep wastes beyond the regime's control. he's gathered a band of like minded mercenaries called "the justicars" and they say they want to side with the revolution. I've worked with them before on salvage operations and they're quite skilled, I'm certain you can find a use for them.
(just to let you know these guys need a bit of gap filling, but I've lost my GS for the moment.)

sir, your recent request to change the uniforms to synthetic materials in light of the Bio-Phage gas attacks has given me the opportunity to make something spectacular. I've completely redesigned the uniform and integrated technology recovered from the ice wastes into the new armor. it has truly been a labor of love to make this functional, yet fashionable design. the helmet has less of the "pig faced" impersonal gas mask, now troop's faces can be partially seen while they interact with the populace. the replacement of natural fibers with synthetic ones has also allowed me to remove the greatcoats used for warmth as the synthetic fibers provide much better insulation. also with the move to urban fighting the barrel of the las-gun has been trimmed down for more close quarters combat. I've also added knee and elbow pads for more durability, as these are often the first part of combat uniforms the wear out and rip. I hope you are as pleased with the results as I am.
I'm sorry to have to ask if I made one, but what's a toku trooper?
EDIT: also this blog is currently on hold while my FLGS restocks their IG and wargames factory minis. they're kind of slow restocking, but they're very cheap so I can forgive them. that's part of the reason I made the pirate 'crons, to give my FLGS time to restock.

Alright this blog is officially off hiatus, but due to the fact that I don't have anything to put together right now you'll just have to settle for fluff until later today when I can get to the store. the fluff has changed a bit, it's now a year after Vlad revealed himself as the Black Shadow, and the war has changed:
It has been one standard year since the Black Shadow revealed himself as Vladimir Medvedev, and the war has changed completely. Battles are now fought not over cities, but over the ice wastes. The catalyst of this change was the release of a substance dubbed Volstgium during a battle near an outpost in the deep wastes. A bomb broke away a large chunk of a glacier releasing a massive amount of Volstgium gas. The gas entered the upper atmosphere and returned as a green snow. Where the snow fell Volstgium crystals began to develop and spread. The inquisition stepped in to examine the substance, and while it was found to be rich in uses, it was utterly toxic to human life. It was also found that Volstgium unless inhibited will grow unchecked. The inquisition declared a ceasefire while it established a network of Volstgium control nodes. These nodes harvested the Volstigium around them and kept the substance from consuming the planet, however the side effects of this system would be the catalyst for the second phase of the war. Volstigium processing has the side effect of creating massive amounts of energy with the byproduct of leaving behind useful minerals.
At the establishment of the control network it was declared that the network would remain neutral in the affairs of the war, but that would quickly change. During the ceasefire the regime prepared itself to take control of the network. With the help of the 51st reclamation company the regime developed a series of mobile command crawlers with the capability of interfacing with the network nodes and using their output to produce units on site. At the same time the 51st gave the designs for a series of more advanced command crawlers to the rebellion, who were determined not to let the regime control such a vital resource.
Almost one year after the ceasefire was declared it was broken when regime forces made a massive offensive during the celebration of the feast of the emperor’s ascension. This would begin what became known as The Ascension Conflict.

Report to all commanders of the Revolution: Attention commanders, recent changes in battlefield conditions have necessitated a reorganization of our forces. all battle groups are being reorganized into one of three types of units: an armored attack unit, a point defense unit, or a rapid air response unit. Each unit will be receiving one of our new crawlers as a mobile command post. Below is a guide to acquaint you with the composition of these new units:
Armored Attack Unit: These units are our primary assault units. Their job is to seize nodes from regime forces, then defend them until a point defense unit can arrive.
Armored Attack Units are primarily made up of regulars being transported in tanks, as well as armored support. If necessary siege elements can be supplied from a point defense unit. Commanders of Armored Attack Units will be chosen based on aggressive personality traits and superior understanding of armored tactics.
Point defense unit: Once an Armored Attack Unit has secured a node it fall to a Point Defense Unit to keep it in our hands and route its supplies to one of our manufactorums.
Point Defense Units are mostly made up of militants traveling in the crawler, and disembarking once battle has begun. Please note it will be cramped in Point Defense Crawlers with such large number of poorly trained troops, so Point Defense Commanders will be selected for their superior people skills.
Rapid Air Response Unit: Rapid Air Response Units are our most elite regular force. Their job is to provide support to other unit types, as well as performing rapid insert and extraction and special operations.
Rapid Air Response units are made up of our most elite soldiers, as well as support personnel who will remain in the crawler as a support staff. Combat personnel of these units will be entirely elite regulars, as well as support from Justicars. These units are air mobile, and will be based out of the cities ready to respond when trouble calls. Please note that there has been some friction between Rapid Air Response Troops and regular soldiers, especially militants due to Rapid Air Response units being stationed in cities. Please do not be surprised if a fight breaks out between them, but be lenient, remember that these people have families.
Primer on Forces of the Rebellion: If you are reading this document you have been selected to become a commander of a unit in the Rebellion. This guide will acquaint you with the units you will be commanding.
Militants Militants are the lowest ranked members of the Rebellion, and as such many of our more cynical members consider them expendable. Please do not treat them in such a way. Militants are average citizens who have taken up arms for their planet, and once this war is over we will need them alive to rebuild.
While compared to our regulars militants are poorly trained they are equivalent to an average imperial guardsman. Militants are organized into platoons led by a member of the Black Hand (more on that later). Platoons are then broken down into four units: three combat squads led by a regular and one command squad of regulars led by the before mentioned black hand. each squad is issued an autocannon, and squads in a Point Defense Unit are also issued a grenade launcher. Generally platoon command squads are issued four meltaguns in a Point Defense Unit, an autocannon in an Armored Attack Unit, and nothing in a Rapid Air Response unit.
Despite being the lowest official rank of the Revolution there is a pecking order amongst the militants. Point Defense militants are considered on top because they face the most hardships. Armored Attack militants are below them for riding in the relative safety of their crawlers while still being a combat unit. Rapid Air Assault militants are at the bottom of the pecking order, being support troops.
Regulars Regulars are soldiers who have passed a training course which places them above most imperial guardsmen. Unlike militants they operate independently, with no platoon command structure. Militants look up to regulars, and there is no shortage of applicants to the training program. Where militants are recognizable by their civilian clothes and respirators, regulars are characterized by their greatcoats and military gas masks.
Regulars are grouped into squads of ten led by a member of the Black Hand. Generally each squad is issued three meltaguns as well as a transport. In an armored attack unit this transport is a reckoner class chimera, and in an Air Assault unit they arrive by vendetta.
Black Hands Black Hands are the senior members of the Revolution, and make up the inner circle of the Black Shadow Vladimir Medvedev. Once a secret society that served the inquisition possibly since its founding, when Lord Inquisitor Medvedev took control of Volstog the Black Hand came out of the shadows as an elite police force and judicial officials.
Members of the Black Hand practice an ancient Terran philosophy known as Stoicism, and it is this philosophy of logic and impartiality is what made them such good servants of the inquisition and resistant to the seduction of chaos. While considered dull and square by most troops this outlook allows the Black Hands to command with a clear head even in the most stressful of situations.
Black Hand members are recruited from close friends and family of existing members, and are trained to do their duty from a young age. As such they are capable of using a variety of weapons and tactics, making them ideal squad leaders and instructors. Black Hands commanding a militant platoon will often carry a laspistol and a chainsword, proving utility and close range support to their meltagun armed comrades. Black hands leading a squad of regulars on the other hand will chose a shotgun, as their role is to fight at range and keep their men out of melee range. The Black Hands you are most likely to interact with will be armed with meltaguns, to better protect you from armored threats you would be otherwise unable to deal with.
Justicars Justicars occupy a strange place in the hierarchy of the Revolution. They are officially considered mercenaries, yet they work for free. This is because many of them are former inquisitorial storm troopers who served Lord Inquisitor Medvedev, and their leader a man known only as Duncan was the personal tutor of the Lord Inquisitor’s children. From what is known of his past Duncan is a graduate of the Scholia Progenitum who later served as a storm trooper. Why a storm trooper was chosen to teach children academics is unknown, but if Vladimir and Anastasia’s grasp of their writing and arithmetic is any indication he was a good teacher.
Justicars are only assigned to Rapid Air Assault Units, and they are organized into squads of ten, with one plasma gun per squad. Unlike the rest of the Air Assault Unit they enter the battlefield through tunneling devices to arrive behind enemy lines. Usually their job is to eliminate air defenses to prepare the way for the rest of the unit.

Hello again, I've got a hydra that I built to resemble a Mantis from C&C: Tiberium Twilight. I've switched back to my old glue because the GW glue was getting brittle and a lot of my samurai have broken. the only problem with my old glue is that it takes a while to fully set. so the tread protectors and pieces of foam board are there to keep the rocket launchers from slipping.

this is a Z-One trooper, one of the elite guards of the Adama Dynasty. they wear a suit similar to tactical dreadnought armor, but made for humans. they will be joining the revolution under the command of Michael Adama, who is the cousin of Shiro, Alfred, Vlad and Anastasia. he was raised away from the cosmopolitan hive most of the Adamas call home and instead grew up on a frontier world. this earned him the nickname "Grox Boy" both for his more humble upbringings and his tendency to shoot first and ask questions later. here's the body and head of Michael's mini, plus the body of another character in the army named Pallas Minerva:

Alright, I know I'm way behind on the fluff, but I've had a lot of papers to write these past couple of weeks. I'll catch the fluff up this weekend (hopefully). anyways I've decided to expand into GDI with a fourth army I'm calling Z-One Command or ZOCOM. they're the elite covert action team of the Adama Dynasty, and they're being deployed to assist the revolution. I've got a sniper team ready that I'm using as a special weapons team:
that's all I've got for now, but I'm expecting a package tomorrow or maybe today, it all depends.
Michael: Born of Earth.
Vlad: and to Earth we shall return. Who am I speaking with?
Michael: aw I’m hurt cousin; you haven’t seen me since we were kids.
Vlad: Michael! What are you doing here?
Michael: Gramps wants Reznove dead, so he sent me and ZOCOM to help you out.
Vlad: you brought ZOCOM? Who’s the Six?
Michael: I am, after Reznove killed your mom Gramps made me her replacement. ZOCOM is right ready to feth him up after he killed our last Six. (to someone farther away) isn’t that right boys? (a cheer can be heard in the background) anyways got a LZ for us?
Vlad: no, we lost the St. Thorninsberg port a few days ago. Sit rep is fairly grim here. We’ve been pushed back to the tunnel entrances of the city proper, and without the port we can’t bring in supplies and reinforcements. You didn’t happen to bring the Light of Dawn did you?
Michael: you kidding? ZOCOM never goes anywhere without the Light of Dawn. Ever since we helped your father deal with that rogue astates chapter and got to keep their stuff ZOCOM has become experts at using drop pods. Just give us the drop coordinates and we’ll take that port back before the sun sets.
Vlad: understood, just give us three hours to make a coordinated assault.
Michael: understood.
As the drop pod descended into the atmosphere of Volstog the ZOCOM march blared through the headsets of the Z-One troopers. Many of them could be heard singing along to pump themselves up for the battle to come. Michael Adama sang along with them. Through the viewing port he could see the ground approaching, they were close. He did a final check of his suit, a refurbished set of tactical dreadnought armor modified for a regular human to wear.
Twenty nine years ago Lord Inquisitor Medvedev requested aid in destroying a rogue chapter of space marines, and the only help he received was from the Adama Dynasty in the form of ZOCOM. Dispite losing half their numbers ZOCOM was sucsessful and in thanks the inquisitor rewarded the dynasty with all of the chapter’s holdings and possessions. The resources gained were invaluable, but not as much as the knowledge gained from the chapter’s armory. The dynasty learned how the suits of power armor worked, and how to modify them for humans. This allowed for the creation of the Z-One armor, and the implementation of ZOCOM’s elite troops: the Z-One Troopers.
The pod landed with a thud and the doors flew open. The pods had landed right in the center of the landing bay, flying right down the pipe that ships entered through. The troopers spread out and made their way to the control tower situated above the ice, defeating any regime forces as they went. Towards the top there was a collapsed tunnel with rubble blocking their path. Strangely it seemed that vines were growing our from beneath the rubble.
“clear a path!” Michael ordered. His two special weapons troopers armed with chain fists revved up their chainsaws and began clearing the tunnel.
When they had carved halfway through the blockage something underneath the ice screamed: “careful! There’s someone down here!”
“halt!” Michael ordered. “who’s in there?”
“Cadet Pallas Minerva. Who are you?”
“Michael Adama, ZOCOM.”
“thank the Emperor! Have we taken the port back?”
“not yet, we’re working on it, but do you need medical attention?”
“no, I’ve just been stuck under here for three days. Please get me out.”
“ok, cut her out.” He ordered his men.
“just don’t be surprised that I’m a little green, that’s just my natural complexion.”
The Z-One troopers cut away the ice revealing the body of a young woman. She wasn’t kidding when she said she was a little green: her skin was as green as a plant and the vines seemed to radiate out from her.
“what are you?” he asked.
“no time to explain. We need to take the control tower to secure this port.”
Michael’s vox hummed to life. “no need cousin, we’ve got the tower under our control.” It was Anastasia. “by the way it will be nice catching up. there’s a tavern in the city that makes good grox burgers, see you there in a couple of hours maybe?”
“sounds like a plan.”
Alright massive updates comared to the past couple of days, I've got a lot of work done on the ZOCOM army and I figure it's time to show it:
this is Michael's mini, I'm using him as my master of the deathwing.

now it's time for the grunts of ZOCOM:
this is a ZOCOM Sergeant, instead of a chain sword ZOCOM prefers stealthier normal blades.
this is a ZOCOM grunt equipped with a hostile environment suit that is standard for all members of ZOCOM.
this is a missile armed grunt. ZOCOM uses rugged and simple to use missile launchers allowing a single man to use them instead of a team of two.
this same design principle of ruggedness and simplicity carries over to other heavy weapons, like the man portable auto cannon.

also I may have my favorite unit from Tiberium Sun for you all on the 21st of this month, and that date is significant because of the release of a movie where the name of the unit is the battle cry of the heroes. it will use the rules for the mortis pattern dreadnought. anyone care to guess what it is?
thanks, honestly it's kind of a ADD problem I have, when my FLGS doesn't have a part I need I try a different idea I have kicking around in my brain. I really need to focus on an army and stick with it, and I'm wishing right now that I brought my IG home for thanksgiving break instead of my orks. maybe I'll be able to crank out something here this week, but I don't exactly have many bitz to work with, and in cleaning up my minis for room inspection by my resident advisor some of the mini's that were glued with the brittle GW glue broke, I'll try to repair them when I get back, but all I've got that wasn't damaged at all was ZOCOM. I've lost some vets and a lot of my old samurai, oh well.
That does suck when the result of cleaning your room is broken and lost minis. Happens to me whenever the cleaners come through. They're going to be here today, so i stuffed all my boxes in the closet, hid a few, and kept a bunch of WIP's in my electrical parts box. Good thing is that i'm getting back to my other old armies.
alright I need to focus on one army at a time at this point, and seeing as the samurai orks technically came first they get priority, then I will come back to this once they are done. until then I hope you'll enjoy my samurai orks
I just did a head count on my samurai orks, and guess what: I've bought everything I need /happydance. this blog is back on, but unfortunately I left all my IG stuff at school. I'll try to get some stuff done before I head back, and I've already got a box of terminators to turn into Z-One troopers. maybe some more will come before sometime Sunday or maybe Monday.
I just did a count on the damage from the cleaning, and it's not good. I've lost most of my samurai, all my vikings, all rebel vehicles, and a good number of rebel infantry. this has set me back quite a bit, and I'm not even sure if I'm going to continue this project the way it is. when this project is re started I may need to re-structure my armies. watch this space because I will try to make something of this.

that's what happened, I had to clean my dorm room for thanksgiving break, and I knew that some stuff broke as I was cleaning, but when I got back today I saw just how bad the damage was. the worst part is that the GW glue refuses to allow a part to be glued back on so once they break they stay broke.
Why not just switch glue? I use standard plastic cement from the hobby store and I pull my guys apart all the time and put them back together as I play with posings, or worse, decide they aren't tall enough and start completely over.
after some soul searching I've decided to re start this blog, and we're going back to Shinshima and back to the samurai IG. I've got some more samurai coming in the mail, and I'll get working on some fluff tomorrow morning. until then I've got some work to do on a prototype samurai terminator that I might get done tonight to show you, so be patient.

that's right I'm jumping on the bandwagon with some samurai deathwing, and this time it's not just going to be various types of IG, so now there's going to be both samurai DW and RW as well as IG. we'll see where it goes from there
Basically that guy is wearing a modified Z-One suit, so he's more piloting the suit than wearing it. but anyways here's the fluff I promised, basic premise is that we are skipping ahead twenty years to focus on the twin children of Shiro and Innari as they attempt to take back their home planet from a civil war that was ignited by Shiro's death. here's the premise and introduction:
Twenty years ago Shiro Adama unified Shinshima under his rule as shogun, but his reign would be short lived. One year after his coronation at a ball celebrating the anniversary of the event a massive blast engulfed the palace in flames. There were only three party guests who survived: the twin children of Shogun Adama, who were mere children at the time, and the shogun’s cousin inquisitor Vladimir Medvedev. Witnesses say it was no ordinary fire that engulfed the palace. they say that on that night you could hear otherworldly screams and see twisted figures moving in the flames, a pair of fighting spectral dragons being the most common ones seen. Vlad was not in the palace at the time, but witnesses say he sprinted into the burning building and battled the pair of demonic dragons. After beating the devilish lizards into submission he was heard to scream: “ENOUGH!” before beating his hammer into the ground. With that a gust of wind seemed to emanate out from the palace and snuffed the fire like a child blows out a candle. Through the cloud of ash Vlad emerged carrying the children one underneath each arm. Without stopping he walked all the way to his transport only whispering one sentence as he walked down the palace steps: “they were after me, they killed the wrong Adama.”
No one on Shinshima saw the children for another nineteen years, and with the Shogun and many of the most powerful daimyo killed in the fire the resulting power vacuum plunged the planet back into civil war. In the meantime the twins grew up under the care of “Uncle Vlad” and the watchful eyes of the inquisition. They were trained as interrogators and when they reached maturity they were granted their Rossetts. Their first assignment was to assist Inquisitor Medvedev in the investigation of their parent’s death, an investigation he had been keeping on hold until the twins were ready. Now the Twins have set out to their homeworld to put an end to the war and reclaim their rightful place on the throne.
Sosuke and Hinata sat in the briefing room on the Light of Dawn as Uncle Vlad began the briefing. “as you know we’ve come out of the warp above Shinshima, and in a few hours we will be making planetfall in the black tortoise. As you also know the patriarch would quite like us to find his favorite grandson’s killer, and has provided us with near unlimited resources to accomplish this. here’s what we know: the device that immolated the palace was a Daemon-Forge bomb. The device used the souls of those it killed to fuel the spread of the fire, and then used the raw soul-stuff to create a new daemon. Or in this case a pair of daemons. The creation of daemon-forge bombs and even their existence are not common knowledge, but we’ve traced the creator of that particular device to a smith known as Muramasa, since deceased. Our goals for this operation are: find those responsible for the palace bombing, and if possible restore order to this planet. This will not be a by the books operation, officially this is not an inquisitorial investigation, we will only have at our disposal the resources of our dynasty. I will leave it to Lady Katia to explain the resources at our disposal.” Vlad sat down and his wife Katia stood up.
“our primary base of operations will be a floating fortress known as “the Black Tortoise” it is loaded with all the munitions and supplies we would need to establish a beachhead, as well as facilities to repair and even produce new equipment based on the rapid assembly device cousin Alfred found. We have been supplied with a set of Z-One suits; however we do not have anyone trained in their use. We also have some experimental weapons at our disposal. Among them are a man portable lascannon, and an experimental plasma cannon for the Z-One suits. The only thing we are short on is manpower, so we will need to recruit locals to our side.”
“on a side note, you two should probably keep your masks on for any public appearances until our position in secure. There’s no need to tip our hand too early. Now get ready, we drop in two hours.”

thanks everyone, I had forgotten about this project with everything that's been going on (classes, designing a game, life in general) anyways the warrior monk is done, but I don't have good light right now to get a good picture. I'll try to get a picture after my class today. also I've been watching the old Kurosawa movie "Yojimbo" and now I feel the need to make mini based on the main character "Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field" AKA "the ronin with no name" (if any of you have seen Clint Eastwood in the "Dollars Trilogy" his character was directly inspired by the ronin from Yojimbo)
in other news I'm going to make the samurai army a series of armies based on specialist situations as the twins try to re-take Shinshima. the first two will be a DW list made for running the warlords out of the former capitol, and the second will be a RW list for seizing the fertile rice fields of Kanto to feed their growing army. I'll see if I can get some fluff done before class today.
one final note: I've also got a RW apothecary and a basic RW biker done as well, I'll show them to you after class.
also: @ Decio: you're correct, it is a tankbuster from RA 3, and I actually was out of samurai parts, I had to order some more.

while i admire all your work on samurai type gear, have you tried a method to get straighter lines for those of with ocd? (me)

I totally agree with you, but I can't do anything about it right now, as my room is too cold to work with GS right now. but anyways I got some of the Napoleonic stuff sort of done. some of it is waiting for a part, but here's what I've got so far:
this is a Raptor Class Avenger Strike Fighter. it still needs it's bolt cannon, but that's about all it needs.
this is one of the bikers for the Aust-Germanian Napoleonic army. in the fluff the grunts refer to them as "Der Sitzkriegers" because they never get off their bikes in combat.
this is one of the characters that will be introduced in this chapter of the fluff, Wilhelm Price. he's ridding an experimental steam bike, and I'm using him as Samiel.
Not only are the conversions cool, but I like the narrative as well.
