Not exactly sure where to put this but i wanted to start a thread to thank you all who host and moderate this forum. It keeps me entertained as well as a good place to chat and learn things. Often its been my experience that "thank you" is not given enough. While I am at it i want to thank everyone else who contributes with their beautiful pics/knowledge in the hobby who might not necessarly be a moderator and such but contribute to the content of the forum .

And also I'll thank the mods while I'm here too. I can't imagine how much hassle it is to run this forum with as many members as it has. The fact that they get rid of trolls and adds and the like so quickly is pretty impressive. I need to quit stalling and buy DCM sometime...

You don't have a right to post on Dakka, its a private forum. With rules. Following them gets you the privilege of posting here.
People join because they want those rules to be followed.
Dakka's rules are pretty simple actually, don't post or condone illegal activity, and don't use language that you wouldn't use in front of a 5 year old and you'll be fine. There's a couple other minor things but Dakka is anything but discriminatory.
I'd give you a triangle of friendship but I see you already have several.
Also if you feel like trolling at least spell words correctly in this day and age even my iPhone has a spell checker. Maybe it's just me but misspelt words really annoy me

The fact that people are familiar with bad language doesn't make it automatically appropriate or welcome.
The idea of the language rule is to keep Dakka accessible to the widest range of people. Whether or not teenagers swear amongst their friends has little impact on whether or not parents would approve of their kids accessing a site with 'rules' like Frothers. And it's not solely for the benefit of the young'uns... some of us still believe in moderating our language in public, because many people find swearing offensive. I'll swear around friends or family that I know are comfortable with it, but out in public I watch my tongue out of consideration for those around me. Dakka is in that respect no different from, say, the local coffee shop. I wouldn't sit in the Coffee Club swearing at the top of my voice for all to hear... and so I don't do it on forums either.

I was pretty steamed and wrote a long winded response in which I called him a philistine. He responded with a very well thought out answer that made me see his side of the argument. He's a cool dude, even if he isn't down for getting weird with cephalopods.

While I feel the forum has some problems and bias, the mods do try to do a good job on keeping everyone in line.

I find the discussions usually enlightening. Sometimes annoying and always entertaning.
If there is one thing I would like to improve it would be that everyone would would take the time (myself included) to realize that everyone is not being a jerk when they come back with a response. The anonymity of the web sadly robs us of the intonation and body language. So we often infer the worst on the person.
Now I will get off of my soapbox, put on my curch and hopefully avoid being the bane of everyone.

.. well.. I guess some like really cracking porn, maybe involving celebrities or something, but I'm afraid all of that is kept on the DCM board, except the really good stuff which we move to the MOD only board.
It's good stuff too, high definition, sound is balanced too and the camera man doesn't ever reach in and have a quick grope or anything which helps maintain the sense of it being real.
