Winter War
The Winter War of 1939-1940 was a short but extremely bloody conflict where over 1 million Red Army soldiers were killed while trying to invade Finland. The well trained Finnish forces were heavily outnumbered but managed to keep back waves of poor, badly led Red Army infantry and tanks. After 105 days, a peace agreement was made after Finnish forces proved themselves against the Red Army onslaught only days before British and French forces were to embark to help defend Finland
The range includes Finnish Soldiers in snow camouflage and also early Red Army soldiers which are not currently available from other miniature companies. Eventually the range will be available as blister packs of 4 miniatures for each type of soldier (running rifleman etc). However, for Kickstarter, each pledge level includes a fighting unit which includes Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs), sub machine guns (SMGs), light machine guns (LMGs) and riflemen as you will need them in most miniature wargames.
For pledges of all levels, each backer will receive a special miniature of Winter War Hero Simo Häyhä
Simo Häyhä made 505 confirmed kills as a sniper and another 200 using a sub-machine gun! This single-handed killing spree was ended on 6th March when Häyhä was shot in the face by an explosive round. He came out his coma on the day peace was declared 7 days later.
The heroic stand taken by Häyhä and his fellow Finns against Red Army forces that outnumbered them by as much as 100:1 is often referred to as The Miracle of Kollaa. When the war had ended, Häyhä was promoted straight from corporal to second lieutenant. He went on to become a successful moose hunter and lived to the age of 96. When he was asked about his service, he stated, “I only did what was ordered, and did it as well as I could.” Asked what the key to his success was, his short answer was, “Practice... and clear days.”

I'm not into historicals, but this was a truly fascinating conflict and it's nice to see it get some tabletop love.
One problem, balance wise, is that Simo Häyhä appeared to have a 1+ invulnerable save along with BS8.

Interesting, Just started a Russian army for Bolt action, could use some winter prepared Russian miniatures.

Interesting timing, as Warlord will later this year release a book detailing the Finnish army and the Winter War.

This looks interesting, good luck with your kickstarter!

I think the Winter War is very suited for 28mm skirmish - there weren't too many tanks, and they were mostly light BTs up to T-28 (with some KV-1s in the mix) and faced slow terrain, so they were often destroyed by assaulting with demo charges.
In essence, Finland had "elite" light infantry in terms of movement, general winter warfare ability and morale, soviets had mass infantry and more tanks but poor leadership and training. Should make a fun game if balanced properly.

This is a war that is almost designed for 28mm tabletop. The figures and rewards as well make it very attractive. Hope they are at least pencilling in some stretches past the £12k mark, I think they will need to.
Anyone into Bolt Action will surely love this kickstarter.

I've not come across them before the KS was pointed out to me
their website ( http://bakercompany.co.uk/) has a decent range of stuff on it and their about us page says
"Baker Company is now owned by Gavin Tyler (also of Warm Acre Games www.warmacre.com) as of 23rd June 2013. Thanks goes to Danny who has been able to make the company a success over the last 3 years. Gavin has been casting the miniatures for Baker Company for 2 years and knows the miniature ranges inside out (literally), he is also a games designer, a sculptor of 10 years experience and a graphic designer by trade.
The focus on Baker Company will be to continue the great customer service but also to release new packs in the Vietnam War and Zulu ranges. There also plans for complete new ranges which have already been started."
other than that if anybody has bought from/worked with them before it would be good to hear about it

Well they are already half way to reaching their target.
Just been working out what you would end up with presently with the announced planned first 12 stretch goals at their 'Platoon' (£60) support level.
Finnish:- about 80 figures (counting horses as one figure from the Light Cavalry) and including a mortar team, HMG, anti-tank gun and crew, and an artillery piece and crew.
Russian:- about about 57 figures including a mortar team, HMG, artillery piece and crew, an armoured car, and a T-26 tank.
(The number of figures are approximate as not sure how many figures are included as 'crew', etc.)
Being half way to the funding level already would indicate that it could well exceed the present highest stretch goal of £12,000.

The third stretch goal has now been achieved, the Finnish Tank Hunter unit, at this rate another couple of stretch goals might fall today (they are only £300 away from the next one).
Looks like this is going to produce something that would fit in well with Bolt Action and other systems.

Well the Finnish Tank Hunters and Medics stretch goals are unlocked and the HMG and mortar teams seem set to be unlocked as the next stretch goal.
I don't think any of the existing backers doubt that all the first 12 announced stretch goals will be unlocked very soon (and they includes artillery, a Russian armoured car and a T-26 tank).

I'm concerned that the goals are relatively small and are giving away a huge amount of figures. I hope that after the 12k goal that the stretches become a little larger to pad the extra cash they'll need to afford all the raw materials.

I think that the goals will become further apart after these initial 12 stretch goals, obviously making it economical to run the kickstarter. The first 12 are amazing value and give a tremendous amount to the sponsors, but it would benefit nobody if it was to produce a financial loss. Looking at it I think this may just be the beginning of something rather interesting. Already the next stretch goal is the option to go for Finnish summer uniforms (in a winter war?), but they would be great in the 'Continuation War' between Finland and Russia of 1941-44, as would the 'Finnish bicycle troops' at stretch number 9 . Then of course you have the 'Lapland War' 1944-45 when Finland fought the German forces.

No way is this one delivering in November this year. Funding closes on Oct 8th, 2-3 weeks for KS to release the money to the creator, and we're already in November.
Add to that a relatively unknown producer, an enormous number of stretch goal figures that aren't yet sculpted.. I dunno. It all seems to be too good to be true and is giving me a bad feeling...
72889
Post by: CBRFigs
Azazelx - Have you actually seen what he has done before?
Also he bought the company, and already it is clearly stated that the T-26 and Armoured Car will likely be later deliveries, so they are not planned for November delivery anyway. As for the figures the majority of the time is in the sculpting (again look at his background and the work he is doing on the figs now), and to produce the figures themselves does not actually take that long in itself when the moulds are made.
I love doubting Thomas', especially when they actually have no evidence for having a 'bad feeling' - but then again I am a dog lover and not a cat lover for that reason I guess. :-) Automatically Appended Next Post: Now just £120 away from the next stretch goal and the following list of 'Add-ons' have been added to the Homepage.
.......................................
£5 Finnish or Red Army Riflemen
Pack of 4 Riflemen (Winter or Summer) - very useful for larger squads various army lists
£5 Finnish or Red Army Command
Pack of 4 Command staff (officers and NCOs)
£5 Finnish or Red Army Light Machine Guns
Pack of 2 LMG gunners and 2 assistants
£6 Finnish Ski Troops
Pack of 4 ski troops
£5 Finnish or Red Army Snipers
Pack of 4 Snipers
£5 Finnish Tank Hunters
Pack of 4 tank hunters
£5 Finnish or Red Army Medics
Pack of 2 medics and 2 casualties
£7 Red Army Heavy Machine Gun
1 Maxim Heavy Machine Gun with crew
£7 Finnish or Red Army Mortar
1 Mortar with crew
£10 Finnish or Red Army Anti Tank Gun
1 AT gun with crew
More will be added as stretch goals are unlocked.

Wow, I love the finnish WWII stuff. I will be very hard pressed not to buy in on this one. I've wanted to do an IG army with bicycle mounted penal squad - (Scouts! Outflank!) and a mounted squad infantry squad, so this is perfect. I am concerned that it is too good to be true as has be discussed above.

As a Finn, this feels really weird to see a foreign company so enthused over a domestic subject. I know there's a bunch of Winter/Continuation War enthusiasts in the global scale modeling community, too (locally, they make up a stifling majority that's very hard to ignore)

Hey there, brand new poster with only 8 posts, all of which are in this thread who is no doubt either a friend of the creators or a sockpuppet! It's probably best not to be text deleted. reds8n when you're a brand new poster who is clearly here to shill and cheerlead when people/established posters on a new forum are being a little bit cautious and asking questions.
If you'll use your eyeballs, I actually asked about the creator several posts ago, though there's very little useful information that lets us know how well known or trustworthy they actually are. Of course, if you're all for being like a dog who doesn't bother to think, be critical or cautious (like a cat) and just leaps blindly where they're told, then I've got a really great deal for YOU.
As I said earlier. There is no fething chance for a November delivery on this project, unless the figures are already sculpted or he is going to be doing them three-a-night with the definition of play-doh. Anyone with experience in backing Kickstarters can plainly see that. I was speaking without even considering vehicles, as well. Now try to be a bit more polite or even humble when defending your pet project, or you'll continue to get friendly replies like this one. Your choice to ignore Wheaton's Law has the potential to lose you backers, rather than gain them.

I'm sorely tempted but I'd like to see a few more models shown before diving in. I'm also echoing concerns about the sheer amount of free stuff being offered. I just don't see how the budget can support that, unless it's a CMoN style set up.
Keeping my eye on it at any rate, it's a conflict that's always fascinated me.

I DON'T know the company/people behind this, so what I'm posting below is ONLY SPECULATION Once all the free stretches are in they probably will have little or no margin left but The KS risks and challenges section says all the sculpting, casting and mould making is done in house so they are able give their time for the above 'free' except for materials used, which will drastically reduce the costs compared to a company that had to contract out some or all of these tasks (this assumes they have a day job/partner with a job to pay the bills while they do this) the payoff for doing so being a whole new range to sell in the future (which given the rising popularity of WWII gaming may be enough to make it worth while for them in the long term), EDIT: As with all KS projects check out the project, ask question of the project creator if they haven't addressed anything you think you need to know (the contact me button is there for a reason), and make up your own mind Automatically Appended Next Post: Stretch Goal 10: £9,000
Red Army: Armoured Car. There is a larger jump to unlock this stretch goal. If this is reached, we will produce an armoured car to support the Red Army invasion of Finland. This may be supplied later than our original delivery date, but more details will released later. You will receive one multi-piece armoured car per Platoon in your pledge level.

Stretch #14 (locked) - Tank Crew pack and Tank Riders pack (4 figures per pack)
Stretch #15 (locked) - Engineers (Flamethrower, Demolition, mine & wire clearing - 3 figures)
Stretch #16 (locked) - Commissars - set of 2
Stretch #18 (locked) - 2 packs in snow camoflage (4 figures per pack, total 8 figures)
Stretch #20 (locked) - Artillery observer - 1 figure
Stretch #21 (locked) - Field Kitchen, crew and 4 resting troops
Stretch #22 (locked) - Twin MG turret T-26
Stretch #23 (locked) - Truck with optional AA gun and 2 crew OR with 6 sitting passangers
Stretch #24 (locked) - Aerosan OSGA 6 and crew
Without counting armoured cars, tanks, trucks, and other equipment that works out at about 120 figures for the Finnish Platoon and 100 figures for the Russian Platoon.
Of course there are the summer uniform variants and alternative heads as part of the stretch goals as well.

Winter War
The Winter War of 1939-1940 was a short but extremely bloody conflict where over 1 million Red Army soldiers were killed while trying to invade Finland.
Hi,
Great KS but that there is a bit of an overstatement. Red Army had over 1 million soldiers deployed with casualties in killed and wounded amounting to around 300.000 - 330.000 men.
Cheers,
Ville

Add to that a relatively unknown producer, an enormous number of stretch goal figures that aren't yet sculpted.. I dunno. It all seems to be too good to be true and is giving me a bad feeling...
Baker Company might be relatively unknown here....but they are not for historical gamers. I really would not be too surprised if they started shipping in November and shipped as cast since everything will be done in house for them.

A couple of very important announcements this morning in Update #13 ( http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1030835091/winter-war-wargaming-miniatures/posts/602493?ref=activity) concerning this kickstarter.
Gavin has said that at the conclusion of the kickstarter the smaller orders (<£30) will be despatched first and then the orders will be despatched in backer order (a significant reason to get in even a small holding pledge early on which can of course be increased later).
Also, and here I copy and paste the wording, a significant announcement on shipping:
"As previously stated, the vehicles I expect to come in a second delivery and then the second stretch goals would be delivered in a third delivery in January/February if they are not already completed."
So, the plans are for three shipments already.

Just £432 away from unlocking stretch goal #21, the Field Kitchen.
Was working out that if all the presently listed stretch goals (24) are unlocked then the Soviet Platoon pledge will receive £272 worth of figures and equipment and the Finnish Platoon pledge returns £285 of figures and equipment. Not bad for just a £60 pledge!
Still over 10 days to go.

So that is now 2 Tanks, the T-26 (stretch #12) and the T-26 Twin MG Turret variant (stretch #22), and now only £1,057 away from the AA Truck / Troop Transporter Truck.
With just under 5 days to go looks like this has been a great success for Baker Company and all the backers, including me!
A brilliantly run kickstarter by Gav, well done mate. Automatically Appended Next Post: The AA Truck (stretch #23) has rolled in, now chasing the Aerosan at £40,000.

Just 85 hours left and knocking on the door of unlocking the Aerosan, just £492 to go.
To many who watch kickstarters this might not be the biggest (2 fantasy ones this week have scored hugely financiallyin their opening day) but for historic wargamers this has been a real treat. Not only has Gav worked continuously to improve the kickstarter he has also listened to all opinions of backers and acted where appropriate by changing equipment choices. Also where feasible allowed people to change part of the make-up of their pledge level rewards.
Reckon this could get pretty interesting in the last remaining hours left. Automatically Appended Next Post: The Aerosani has been unlocked at £40,000.
Still 76 hours to go.

I'm in. I've been wanting to play Bolt Action, and trying to decide what faction to get some models for. This Kickstarter has given me the answer. It's too good of a deal to pass up. For around $100 (after currency conversion), I can get a full Bolt Action force, with plenty of options.
I think I'll get one platoon of each side, exchange a couple of the stretch add-ons for an extra rifle squad for each side, and add on a Company Command for each side. For 130 pounds, or about $210, this should give me enough for two platoons for each side, which I think would allow using more of the vehicles and other options, since some of them are limited in Bolt Action to a certain number per platoon. And I'll have opposing forces, so I can get a game in with someone who doesn't have their own models.
What are other people getting? Any other suggestions for add-ons or stretch goal swaps?
72889
Post by: CBRFigs
@Albino - I've been keeping track of what the reward levels are and it works out that now for each Platoon (without swapping any units)( these are not official BakerCompany.com figures just my numbers only) you will get the following:
Soviet
Platoon ................................44..... (£55)
Snipers ..................................4..... (£5)
Medics & Casualties ...........4..... (£5)
Mortar & five crew .................5..... (£7)
HMG & 5 crew ........................5..... (£7)
Artillery & 5 crew ....................5..... (£16)
B-10 Armoured Car ...................(£22)
T-26 Light Tank ...........................(£22)
T-26 Twin Turret ..........................(£22)
Truck & AA Gun....................2..... (£22)
Aerosan ................................1..... (£22)
Tank riders & crews......................10..... (£12)
Engineers ......................................12..... (£20)
Commissars & Standard ..............3..... (£5)
Snow Camoflage Troops ..............8..... (£10)
Artillery Observers ...........................3..... (£5)
Field Kitchen ....................................5..... (£22)
Casualty markers ...........................4..... (£5)
So for the Soviets that is a total of 116 figures plus equipment plus vehicles, worth circa. £284 retrail.
Finnish
Platoon ...................................38.....(£50)
Jaeger skis ...........................10.....(£15)
Snipers ....................................4.....(£5)
Tank Hunters...........................4.....(£5)
Medics & casualties...............4.....(£5)
Mortar & 5 crew........................5.....(£7)
HMG & 5 crew..........................5.....(£7)
AT gun & crew..........................5.....(£10)
Light Horse...............................6.....(£24)
Bicycles...................................10.....(£35)
Artillery & 5 crew.......................5.....(£16)
Truck & AA Gun.........................2.....(£22)
Aerosan......................................1.....(£22)
Anti-Tank Rifles.........................4.....(£5)
Engineers................................12 .....(£20)
Model Cajander........................8......(£10)
Artillery Observers....................3......(£5)
Field Kitchen.............................5.....(£22)
Casualty markers....................4.....(£5)
So for the Finnish that is a total of 135 figures plus equipment plus vehicles, worth circa £290 retail.
For a £60 investment in either it seems like a good return to me.
Notes
1. The AA Truck and gun has 2 crew or a Transport truck can be chosen instead where you get I think it is 6 seated figures.
2. I am not sure of the number of crew for the Aerosan so because Gavin has mentioned crew specifically I have listed it as one figure.
The next few stretch goals are add-ons:
Stretch goal #26 - £44,000 - KhT-130 Flame thrower tank
Stretch goal #27 - £46,000 - Finnish Colonel Mannerheim
Stretch goal #28 - £48,000 - B20 Armoured Car
Stretch goal #29 - £50,000 - Vickers-Armstrong 6-tonne tank
Following these stretch goals I have no idea what Gavin has as surprises for us (although I hope at stretch goal #30 it is the Komsomolet - fingers crossed).
Anyway hope this helps, and if there are any discrepancies between my spread sheet and that of Baker Company I am sure they will be slight and of course it will be my figures that are wrong.
Just over 45 hours left. Roll on November.

Yeah thanks alot for that breakdown.
I'm still on the fence for this one. The only historical I've gotten into is Bolt Action. How would a platoon level pledge here work out in terms of minis for the game for each side? I do have the Bolt Action 1,000 pt army box already, so I'm concerned about duplicates as well as units that are not fieldable.
But I have no Fins, and they look like a cool force. Here my concern is units that are not fieldable.
I just don't want to end up with guys that I can't play with.
72889
Post by: CBRFigs
@Phobos - This has been discussed quite extensively in the comments of the kickstarter which rather than try and post different options here I will take the easy way out out ( ) and point you to if I may.
The link is:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1030835091/winter-war-wargaming-miniatures/comments
(Scroll down a couple of pages and you should see some listings of Finnish set-ups)
The platoon with stretch rewards will give you several options of 1,000 point Finnish armies.
I know Gavin has listened to suggestions from both BA and CoC players and made changes when necessary so that both can field the units required.
Hope this helps

Thanks very much.
I went in for a platoon of Fins for sure.
72889
Post by: CBRFigs
@Phobos - glad you joined, I think you have made a great choice in getting the Finns.
Coming up to the last full day of this kickstarter (actually just 28 hours as I write this). At the moment there are 363 backers of the Winter War campaign kickstarter, I would imagine that will very easily exceed 400 by the time it finishes.
I joined on day 2 and have been amazed at how friendly and helpful everyone has been, become a real community spirit evolve amoungst the backers, almost as if 'we' became a club by ourselves, and poor old Gav has had to put up with suggestions left, right, and center (many of which he has actually taken account of and changed things so that both BA and CoC rules could be thoroughly used - good on him).
Well stretch goal #26 got unlocked last night, that is the KhT-130 Flamethrower tank and only £752 away from unlocking stretch goal #27 and perhaps the true architect of Finlands valiant defence the figure of Colonel Mannerheim. That then only leaves 2 currently listed stretch goals to go, the BA 10 armoured car and the Vickers-Armstrong 6 ton tank. Then who knows what? (Well apart from Gavin of course. )
If things do develop over the comming few hours I will try and post them on here to let everyone know what the latest state of play is but my posts may well become appended to each other so please keep checking back regularly.
If anyone has any questions I will try and help and if I cannot answer them I will put them on the comments section of the kickstarter and get a reply ASAP for you from someone who knows the answer.

I gave in and jumped on a platoon of each yesterday.
This breaches my good resolve this year which has seen more miniatures painted than purchased and gives me another project to tackle finding rules, decent historical guides and scenery for. It was just too good a deal to not jump on and is an interesting conflict I'd like to spend the time getting to know more about.
Plus I have a pot of snow flock just sitting mostly unused since I pretty much finished my Falklands Brits - that almost justifies it alone no?
Now to find a Hertfordshire-based historicals friendly club.

Glad to have you with us Richred, hopefully we will be able to find you some opponents to battle against pretty soon.
Well the kickstarter has entered the final 24 hours, I would imagine that this will see the total rise above £50,000 (that's $80,000), which is not bad at all for a small company running their first kickstarter. Mind you it has been run excellantly by Gavin, and the rewards at Platoon level have become amazing.
Next stretch goal is less than £500 away.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Well stretch goal #27, Colonel Mannerheim, is now unlocked, and the next is the BA-20 armoured Car.
Also stretch goal #30 has just been announced:-
Komsomolets - complete new vehicle. Perfect for pulling your artillery, AT gun or field kitchen. Will come with crew and passengers for either army. :
Oh, and just over 21 1/2 hours to go. Automatically Appended Next Post: Stretch goal #28, the BA20 Armoured Car is unlocked.
Next stretch, #29, is the Vickers-Armstrong 6 ton tank, at £50,000, hear it coming?
Then my personal favourite (and I have absolutely no idea why ), stretch #30, the Komsomolets at £54,000. Automatically Appended Next Post: The Vickers-Armstrong tank is unlocked.
Now full steam ahead for stretch goal #30, the Komsomolets.

You get an insane amount of models for both sides.
I went in at the £120 mark. That's a heck of a deal for two all metal armies, and it pretty much has every option you could think of for a bolt action army. Yeah its money I didn't really have but worst comes to worse I can sell a few minis I don't need later.
Plus, I can run scenario games at the store with both sides and it would be a blast. If these models are even halfway decent this will have been one heck of a deal

It's comments like yours that have finally chipped away at any consumer resistance I had left and see me signing up with four hours to go.
I was inclined towards this anyway as the Finnish-Russian War has fascinated me ever since I first learned of it aged about 10 years old. Its just that "We will not just roll over" attitude displayed by the Finns. I've also been lucky enough to spend a week with the Finnish Army cavorting over the terrain involved and I'm glad it wasn't winter!

The KickStarter Everything you need to play – figures, guns, vehicles, tanks, scenary and buildings – for two of the most popular rule sets (Bolt Action and Chain of Command) – and army lists have just been published for both.
Recently added are the BA-20 armoured car, Vickers Model E 6-ton tank, the KhT-130 flamethrower tank, and Komsomolets tractor. The Bofors 37mm Anti-Tank gun is the last remaining stretch-goal to unlock.

Hi Richard,
Try 'Finland at War 1939-45', No. 141 of the Elite series by Osprey. It covers the Winter War (1939-40), the Continuation War (1941-44) against the Soviet Union and the Lapland War (1944-45) against Germany.
A great little introduction IMO.

Really kicking myself that I didn't add an extra 10pounds for the bofors gun. I went to sleep before it unlocked. At least I remembered to add 6 so I can get the T26 flamethrower turret.
Also, how on earth does a kick starter like this make money? If the one guy's estimate is right, I've bought between 3-400 £ worth of models for a 120.
Is it just a way to get the molds paid off quicker or something?

I think you can add unlimited extra packs in the post ks survey so it shouldn't be a problem just add £10 for the Bofors ( I think that's the price).

Post by: Bolognesus
I kind of hope you can add additional 60 quid deals in the survey - that'd be good
72889
Post by: CBRFigs
Hi Folks,
My understanding is that you will be able to up your pledges with more Platoons and add-ons in the survey. (I think that will be good news for many.)
I think Gav has gone into this kickstarter with the intention of building his company long term, so I would think that he is looking at it as an investment and not as an immediate revenue stream. His major return will be in a grown customer base worldwide, and of course when we all start playing Winter War he has got over 400 advertising agents around the globe. I think he has used it as a long term marketing project that at the same time as introducing new customers also insures the production of a total whole range of figures that corners a niche in the market.
Now isn't that actually a good business model?
That is my take on it.
31456
Post by: Bolognesus
Silliest part would be I'd drop that second 60 quid payment just for the vehicles and a few single models, it's that good a deal you can basically ignore 50%+ of the stuff and still have an awesome deal.
38157
Post by: RoninXiC
Yeah... the Russiand get like 5 vehicles which will cost 22 pounds EACH. 22 pounds is an ok price for a 1/56 vehicle..
Sooooo if you just need any three vehicle, pledge for the platoon level and sell the rest (or give it away for freeeee)

Hi All,
Just to let everyone know that Gav has just put out the Update with lists of what's available, etc..
The link is:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1030835091/winter-war-wargaming-miniatures/posts/623762?ref=activity
or of course you can see it through clicking on the links for the kickstarter.
Going to be a great winter!
38157
Post by: RoninXiC
You can see the Update ONLY if you are a backer.
It's a massive list of stuff we get for free, when it will be send out, what exactly is in the making and how and what we can swap out for other things.
If the miniatures are good, this is going to be one if not the most amazing and surprising kickstarter I've backed so far!
52054
Post by: MrMoustaffa
For people curious about swapping things in their pledge, you can only trade in for SMG packs, rifle teams, or trucks for each side. You can't trade an aerosan in for another T26 or your medics for AT rifles.
Yeah it kind of sucks but you were practically getting them for free anyways so its no big deal.
Also, due to the massive amount of orders, guys who pledged late in the game probably won't get their stuff in November. Big shocker I know, but I'm cool with it. I've gotten to where I always assume a kick starter will fall behind, that way I can be pleasantly surprised if it does end up on time.
72889
Post by: CBRFigs
MrMoustaffa - There are quite a few who from the comments section are going for the 'All Together' delivery in March, so it is beginning to look very close that Baker Company will dispatch the first wave of shipments to those who choose this option on time, if not it is likely to be a very close thing.
52054
Post by: MrMoustaffa
You tell me this after I chose the all together option of course
Ah well I'll live. The guy is already giving me free shipping and that would eat him alive if he had to ship 3 or more packages across to me. It also helps since I don't even know where I'll store all these models, and gives me time to clear a spot.
72889
Post by: CBRFigs
The first orders have been shipped, those up to £30 without add-ons.
From the latest update Gav is now working on the November dispatches, which for most will be the first shipment of 2 or 3 such shipments making up their reward level plus extras.
Oh, and if any backers here have not returned their survey remember that Gav has included a poll for Baker Company's next kickstarter. Latest news (a couple of days old now) is that only 16 surveys are still outstanding, the race seems to be between the Balkans (a mighty meat grinder of an arena lasting over many years with numerous combating nations and forces, many of which are not currently either available or covered very slightly by existing figure ranges) or the 60 odd day campaign for Norway which of course was mainly naval engagements. (Wonder which one I voted for? )
Anyway, should get the first reactions from backers in the next few days as the initial shipments arrive.

Yes, Gav has declared the Balkans won the vote, a bit of a debate going on about what 'the Balkan Campaign/s' actually interprets as is going on at the moment.
The start of the kickstarter is apparently pencilled in for the April/May of next year, but depending on how the dispatch of the current Winter War goes the date may be varied IMO. Currently Gav seems to be at or in front of schedule, so just be ready in case that date should change a little.
Now we are all trying to influence Gav with comments and emails as to what the starting point should be. But no doubt some things Gav will keep quiet about, and rightly so, until the kickstarter actually launches.

Quoting CBRFigs for Hilarity. Especially since he got his figures and sold them off (check his post history here)
CBRFigs wrote:Azazelx - Have you actually seen what he has done before?
Also he bought the company, and already it is clearly stated that the T-26 and Armoured Car will likely be later deliveries, so they are not planned for November delivery anyway. As for the figures the majority of the time is in the sculpting (again look at his background and the work he is doing on the figs now), and to produce the figures themselves does not actually take that long in itself when the moulds are made.
I love doubting Thomas', especially when they actually have no evidence for having a 'bad feeling' - but then again I am a dog lover and not a cat lover for that reason I guess. :-)
For the rest of us, I did a little late-night digging since it's clear that Gavin Tyler has no intention of fulfilling this Kickstarter:
We all know that this project hasn't been updated in 8 months, and only had 3 updates since Christmas 2014.

"their website ( http://bakercompany.co.uk/) has a decent range of stuff on it and their about us page says:"
(This info has since been removed from the Baker Company website).
But then...

And our mate Gav has started and run (and completed) another KS under another name. Well, under the name of his Warm Acre business partner.

Finished Feb 27th. Just a shame I didn't go digging a couple of weeks ago.
Oh, here's Warm Acre's Facebook link:

And the one for the Jane Austen game that seems to have been the focus for the last calendar year (instead of this project).

So Gav's ignoring this project, but not ignoring Kickstarter.

Ugh I knew it. I'd hassle him for the money if it wasn't for the fact that the dispute period ended over a year ago.

Unfortunately it hasn't worked out especially well. I think I have most of my rewards but I'm not inclined to invest the effort to check or complain. It's very apparent Gav is no longer interested.
Good to know what his other companies are. Duly noted to avoid any future support.

Whoah you actually got some stuff?
I didn't get a thing because I was a moron and opted for the "send it to me all at once" choice.
Were the models any good?

I got the full Finnish army a while back... I guess I got it because I complaines a lot :\
Some minis are suuuper good. Highly accurate, well sxulpted and with a good Cast.
Others are just a mess with wonk proportions, mould lines everywhere and mould Slips drin the 80s.
I've never got time to get behind the basic prep and build Stage, so the minis are all packes up in a box in m cellar.
Anyone Interested in buying them?

Most weren't especially good; some of the sculpts were clumsy and lazy, and many of the castings seemed rushed (grainy finish). All in all very disappointing, and I remember the excitement and expectation at the outset.
The models are sitting untouched. One day I'll get around to them and hope they look better with some paint applied.
