lol, its not two joined together at all but i can see why you thought it. the reason why its so small is because i intended it to be a battle wagon with killkannon and then someone on my plog said it needed more daka and the only way of doing that in game terms was to make it into a skullhammer. but yea it is a bit titchy

I've made both my Deff Dredds out of Toilet paper tubes, so I can tell you this: It's a little large compared to the official kit, however, as it is an Ork vehicle, and as it's still fitting fairly comfortably on its base, it's absolutely fine in scale. Also, as it's an Ork vehicle, having it bigger gives it absolutely no benefit, and in fact is more dangerous for it due to line of sight rules.

Cyborks, maybe no for the normal komp, as it is a veerkil komp, but, I'm making a komp that happens every 5 years, and there are no catagories, thae thing you make just has to be orky

But that comp will only be for catagory winners, so...

So, I've been thinking of building two stompas.... A klawstompa- Gork, and a Big Mek Stompa- Mork.

The problem is finding the will to get started on such a huge project.... Any ideas?

And rivets... I shudder at the thought of hand-cutting rivets for so many plates... I think a leather punch is in order....

Stompas are about a foot tall- remember that.

Don't get a body then glue stuff to the surface- that just makes it look like you glued stuff to something. If needed, make a frame from wire, chopsticks, dowels, whatever, then get a bin of scrap sheets- metal, plastic, cardboard, whatever ya got- that are all roughly cut out in all different shapes- extra bits from chopped up vehicles are great for this. You then add those plates onto the frame (or just make the basic shape from gluing the scraps to each other) without worrying too much about keeping them aligned (if you go the right scraps, you won't be able to keep them aligned if you wanted!). Any severe gaps are filled by gluing another plate over or under them.

Then do the rest.

Now, I was under the impression that your basic stompa is about 8" to the top of the head. Are you including smokestacks and gubbinz in your measurement? Otherwise that seems kinda big. Of course, what ork has ever complained about something being too big....

That's some good advice, I'll have to take that into consideration. Sort of a flip method to what people usually do (and what I was thinking of doing in the first place). I can see the benefits of building it a little more randomly though.

Sorta kinda. I built my scratch-stompa to about a foot, and it seems around the same height as the official model.

But! This is Orks, and Apocalypse. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, is going to give you guff for a bigger Stompa.

and stompa size, well the current model is between 6" and 10", as are most homemade stompas from what I've seen...

ive got the model it is about a foot tall if you build it the gw way, so you could have it slightly shorter if you wanted but not too much that is is just a big mega dread. really hope you do do this, would be Kick ass

That is a good idea.

I don't see why it wouldn't. Using an article means the kompetitorz can just enter their entry right then and there without any formatting on your part.

IF anybody whines about not having their entry on the voting thread, you can just say it was their responsibility to get it onto the article beforehand.

Make sure you put that in the rules though. In bold, 72 pt font so people don't miss it.

I only just learned about this competition today! Started an account just for it (lurking since about March). I just started work on a Klawstompa the other day and I have a looted wagon already built from earlier this year. Happy pics of the "wagon!"





Nothing on the stompa yet, still planning how to build the two giant klaws. It'll be another of them battlewagon-head stompas. It just looks so badass. I didn't add myself to the competition page yet since I wanted to make sure here it was coo to enter, being all late and whatnot.

It's been a while since anyone posted any progress! Where'd everybody go?

I started the stompa (Mork, a big mek stompa). Check my blog (sig) for its progress- it still has a way to go. Hopefully though I'll have the time to finish two of these before the deadline!

Unfortunately i have come to the realization that i may only be able to fully complete 2 vehicles by the end of this years contest.
my battlewagon and my mekboy junka.
I request permission to withdraw my other entries, And continue working on them when the next contest comes around.
I would prefer to continue working on them and taking WIP pics and enter them in next years contest but I'm thinking that would be unfair (Unless Matt.Kingsley feels otherwise).

Nice entries for this year. All great competition. But i might be topping it with my Krawla/Rolling Mechshop. Btw whats about the finish line?? Maybe tgree month?? Cause all contenders posted really big stuff. It would give anyone else willing to contribute quite a good amount of time for an Entry worthy to take part in this contest. Here is a pic but its very wip.
