Man just like last year our defense tightens up as the year goes on. I give this win almost entirely to the defense. I also think I'm gonna hate my life once Brady is done playing. Ryan mallet 1 pass-1 INT lost me a first round bye in my fantasy league...
And I never thought it was even possible if ever say this, but I bet kronk had a better time watching the rockets instead of the texans.
AAAAAANNNNNDDD... Done, alright, I feel better... Until next year *glares* To be fair, I was 6 when the Browns left and my family wasn't a big Browns family, we were Indians through and through, so I don't harbor as much ill will as older fans do, and at the end of the day. I dislike the Steelers simply because of their fans... Namely Cleveland residents that cheer for the Steelers for no good reason, and people that have never lived in Pittsburgh a day in their life and are Steelers fans, mostly residents of West Virginia that don't have a team, so they latch on to the nearest successful team.
A kid I went to college with is like that. His family lives in a suburb of Cleveland, and his family is from WV and are giant Steeler fans... He's so god danged unbearable during this time of year. Screaming 'BLACK AND YELLOW" at our fraternity meetings (small school, not many out of staters, huge Browns population in our chapter), and yet he couldn't take it when the Browns beat them this year, telling us to all shut the hell up. As fans of the AFC go, I'll take a Ravens fan any day over a Steelers fan (no offense to any current Steelers fans in this thread that I've never met personally).
Well, two weeks left.. the Eagles season is a train wreck and yet.......
They can still feth Dallas' chances to make the playoffs.
Dallas plays the Saints and Skins next and last
Philly plays the Skins and NYG.
NYG play Ravens before Philly.
If Philly loses both remaining games, Wash wins the Division with the best Divisional record and NYG takes second with the better conference record.... Assuming Dallas and NYG win their other games.
Getting beat by the backup quarterback, who played one hell of a game, quite the smart choice picking up Cousins like they did. Definitely paid off. At least they know they're not screwed if RGIII continues his wild playstyle. i.e. not protecting himself when he runs like that.

well hopefully for the Redskins Mike Shanahan doesn't follow the Harbaugh logic move of benching RG3 now, they're the only team in the east I have a soft spot for,
And the Bears continue their depressing slide to 8-8
I don't think he will, though Shanahan is probably sitting in his office thinking, "Feth yeah that QB was a good pick up." Like I said, the Redskins know they have a good Quarterback that can perform when RG3 is out of commission.
Alfndrate wrote: I don't think he will, though Shanahan is probably sitting in his office thinking, "Feth yeah that QB was a good pick up." Like I said, the Redskins know they have a good Quarterback that can perform when RG3 is out of commission.
I have to say that I think RG3 is a phenomenal QB but I also think that Russel Wilson (or Dangeruss as he is starting to be called in these parts) is right up there on par with him. Especially since RG3 didn't play this week and Wilson had a superb gameday with near 100 yds rushing including 3 TDs he ran in himself and one pass TD I mean the kid is on fire. Just hope it holds up against the 49ers next Sunday which I am sure it will being a fan and all.
That Bears Packers game had some terrible officiating, It was like the replacement ref's were back.
The ref's called a non existent roughing on J. Peppers, and did not call a P.I on Jeffery's defender that cost the bears that game.
10-6 isn't bad though with the injuries the Bears have had. Detroit is not good and neither is Arizona, so those games should both be wins for the Bears.
2 weeks left for Piston and byte. Good luck guys, at 55 pts down I'm conceding for the year, this week totaled any chance I had haha. Good year guys I'm laying low posting till playoffs, since I'm finishing the school semester I'm in.

Yeah, hopefully Jennings will be back for the Arizona game, wouldn't mind another defensive performance like that the one in 2006 Still Jeffrey and Hester dropped the last 2 games (Jeffrey several offensive PI calls on him and Hester drops passes like it's going out of fashion
Now to watch the hilarity that is the Jets on iPlayer
EDIT: To paraphrase what Joe Flacco said "I feel like we are 0-14", the past few weeks have just been painful to watch, especially considering how well we were doing earlier this year

sorry alf about the slaughter that will happen to the poor browns
If Weeden can remember wtf his job is and how to do it like the professional he's supposed to be, and if the runningback coach beat a "Football for Dummies" book over Richardson's head this week, we might at least give Denver a game...
I doubt it though... Oh well, looks like we ruined another quarterback.
Nick Saben could be a huge improvement for the Browns if the rumours come true, and Richardson could be one of the last great power backs in the league if he doesn't mess it up or just dwindle away
Hlaine Larkin mk2 wrote: Nick Saben could be a huge improvement for the Browns if the rumours come true, and Richardson could be one of the last great power backs in the league if he doesn't mess it up or just dwindle away
He dances, he spends too much time going horizontal instead of pushing his way through the hole. I've seen almost every game this season, and he's good for a few plays, but spends too much time behind the line of scrimmage. I mean hell, even Madden 13 got it accurate (when controlled by a computer). My career mode has had Trent getting spectacular plays... when he hits the hole, but he's tackled himself more than a handful of times...
Hrm... Saban might be in our future... Idk though :-/ I'd just like someone that knows how to head coach, and can actually get this team whipped into shape... I'd be happy with whoever we got if we could got 8-8 next season (improving upon this season, etc...
Hlaine Larkin mk2 wrote: Nick Saben could be a huge improvement for the Browns if the rumours come true, and Richardson could be one of the last great power backs in the league if he doesn't mess it up or just dwindle away
You really think Saban is gonna leave his multi million dollar contract with full control of every aspect of the organization and multiple national titles(with a chance to be the best ever). To go to the browns? I know he has history with that organization, but his nfl history is bad, college is clearly where he is best suited to coaching.
Edit:I'm not saying it isn't possible but all signs poit to no for me.
Anyone else think Atlanta will lose to the Lions on Saturday?
Nah, Stafford isn't playing well enough and their D has been meh so far this year,
I really don't get how much hate the Falcons are getting, being top seed in the NFC at 12-2 w/ a great (This season anyway) QB, high performance secondary w/ an adequate front 7 and a couple of RBs who may not perform too well but get the job done at the end of the day
And the fact the couple of weeks the Panthers have found their 'Beast' mode
Wow I didn't realize but Johnson is SHATTERING rices record. Cause there is almost no way he does get over a hundred yards this next week in another meaningless game for Detroit... Already he's 40yards over it.
Well a broncos win puts me over the 100 pt mark in the pick 'em league
And on a good side note Dallas lost, Giants are losing and the Bears edge closer to tying that defensive scoring record, somehow the Vikings won in Texas though
So how'd you all do in fantasy this year? I just realized there is no Monday game so my leagues are decided. I ran 4 leagues and placed 1, 4,5,4 in them I placed 5th in my only money league despite having a hundred points over the kid who won(who was second in total scoring) because I was dead last in points against lol. The league I placed first in I came from #3 to win it all out scoring my opponents by 75 in the playoffs
Team A : Ranked 4th, 3rd Place (8-6-0)
Team B: Ranked 1st, 3rd Place (10-4-0)
Team C: Ranked 4th 1st Place (9-5-0) (Scored 155.90 - 103.02 having lost 75.90 - 60.52 in Week 7 to this team )
Team D: Ranked 10th (4-10-0)
Team E: Ranked 9th (5-9-0)
Team F: Ranked 1st, 3rd Place (11-3-0)
On Yahoo
Spoiler:
Team A: Ranked 10th (3-8-0)
Team B: Ranked 1st 3rd Place (10-3-0)
I've won as a #1 seed once in the 7 years I've done FF. I typically run 3 yahoo leagues and 1 money league. I won my money league last year which was amazing cause it was 50$ a person and I took home 350$ and thought I'd win again when I got jamaal Charles and Adrian Peterson in the 6'th and 7th rounds respectively. Alas it was not meant to be.
Yah expect your team to suck in a cash league ;p mine always have till last year and only because I picked cam newton off waiver and got #1 overall for Arian foster lol. Those 2 alone basically won my league.
Won my Playoff game with 122 points to my opponents 101. I had Roddy white on the bench though, and started Victor Cruz. Had I started Roddy I would have had close to 150 points fo that game. Still won my league, Good Times.

They should beat the vikings, and the bears should beat detroit, so the bears should make the playoffs.
Anyone have thoughts on how the afc playoff seeding is gonna shake out. I thinks it's bronco's-1, pats-2, texans-3, balti-4, colts, cinci. Because I don't see Denver or New England losing but I can see the texans continuing the downslide with a super motivated colts.
This is probably blasphemy and I'm sorry kronk but THANK YOU INDIANAPOLIS LUCK-Y HORSESHOES! All the pats gotta do is beat Miami and we have a first round bye!
9 yards.... 9 stinking yards. Can't believe ADP couldn't make it;(. Although I'd bet he just solidified his MVP award. If Peyton wins it the nfl writers are a disgrace...

I can not believe they could not beat the vikings.
Ohh well 10-6 not a bad finish for the Bears.
Maybe if Cutler stays healthy next season, and the bears pick up a tight end that can catch, and a left guard that can block they will be in great shape.
I cant wait til the vikings drop the packers out of the playoffs next week.
I think the super bowl will be Bronco's and the Falcons
Either way there should be a few good games in the coming weeks.
Some beautiful catches during the Broncos game, and not a bad performance in the 4th Quarter by I believe Quinlan, who I will be referring to as "The Apprentice" till Peyton Manning retires.

Historically we are not as good on the road as at home but this year with the changes the team has gone through namely getting Russel Wilson as QB we have gotten much better at away games.
I hope the Hawks skull stomp the Redskins next Sunday and then march through the rest of the NFC to the Superbowl.

The problem I see with Atlanta going to the Superbowl is the fact that they have a deplorable habit of choking during the playoffs.

And Peyton has had plenty of trouble with the Patriots, who they will most likely meet in the AFC championships, and the Patriots have had trouble on the road. Every team has these issues... we'll see, I feel like Atlanta is going to be Seattle, but remember, I also felt that the Browns were going to do much better this year than last year . I knew that they Chiefs were going to fire the head coach but they kept the GM. WTF! Are you talking about Banner? I'm sure that's less of a "taking Philly's castoffs" and more of Haslem, who was a minority owner of the Steelers, asking around the league saying, I'm looking for a guy that is x, y, and z. Who do you know? Let's face it, the only decision he had to make was whether to show up to a game or not with the.
Andy Reid and Michael Vick in brown colors... I think the Dawg Pound might riot...

I thought Heckert was, couldn't remember, and didn't want to say it, lest I sound like an arse. Also the question of Vick was on the topic of sports radio guys last week. They were talking about Alex Smith (the qb from the 49ers) and Vick as possible Qbs... I don't see Vick coming here, mostly because of the Dawg Pound... that is until he would start winning games lol.
Yah if anything the orks/goblins would be the ravens... They are the ugliest group of dudes in the nfl. Put a pic of Suggs next to rice and just cringe.
Alfndrate ... I am sure there are teams that are desperate enough to take Vick on, but if Reid goes to Cleveland, I doubt Vick will go with him. Though Marty might.
He'll get backup duty, but unless some major injury happens hopefully his starting career is over. Unfortunately you don't give up on that kind of talent. And there are countless examples of that pacman jones, plaxeco burress, Vick, aquib talib and others.
Rumor has Reid heading to AZ for an interview this week..... seriously doubt he would take Vick with him, anywhere. I think Vick heads south, maybe to Panthers for a mid round pick.

Just watched the Vikings - Packers game, a few days late, but WHAT a game! Loved the courage and heart the Vikings showed during the game. Feel sorry for Adrian Peterson not quite making the record, but loved his remarks to Pam Oliver after the game, "9 yeards? 9 yards what?" - it's all about the team, and I think it was the team effort that pulled the Vikings through. Job is going to twice as hard for them at Lambeau field next time, but who knows?

Haha yes I've had the same idea, along with some terrible name changes to fit the sci-fi settings - New Philidelphia Cyber Eagles (humans) and the Minnesotta Space Vikings so far (orcs), painted up in the colours of teams my friends support
Is saw a BB team using alternate models (With proper pads and helmets) painted up as the Waaghington Redskins awhile back in News & Rumours I think, was quite well executed
Haha man that tattoo is blowing up. But after watching Rex the last 4 years or whatever. Do you think he even realized it was sanchez's number?
And on a separate but related note, someone on a local radio show today said Rex got the tattoo because they were the 2 people on earth who effed him the hardest. I laughed for a good 20 minutes over that comment.
So.. Andy reid signs with KC... fairly solid O-line, good run game, just one real need on Offense..... QB.
Don't see Vick going there.
So who do you think will be heading to KC to play QB?
Automatically Appended Next Post: So where is this guy gonna go?
The Bucks?
back to OR?
The bucks? You mean Ohio State?
He apparently spent 7 hours in meetings with Jimmy Haslem and Joe Banner... Either they were doing some illicit activities, or he was willing to pull their chains for a long time...

There's a Skaven Team. (The Skittersneak Stealers, These guys should be Black and yellow)
a Human team of Ironman dudes. (Trontek 29ers, These guys should be Red and Gold)
and an Orc/Goblin team (Greenmoon Smackers , These guys should be Green and Yellow)
Added the orange text.
The Midgard Delvers Forge Father Team are Dwarfs, they seem most like the came from the Chargers, so Blue and Yellow.
I'm calling Broncos going all the way to the big game. Not sure who they're going to be playing though.
If the Pack lights a fire under the ass of the O line they could burn through the play offs and go to the Super Bowl, but man that O-line. It's a freaking miracle that Aaron Rogers does what he does and has the incredible stats that he does, with the Packer's weak O line hamstringing him.
The Packer's defense is best represented by this image:
Except all of them, and made of rage and spikes.
I think the sportscaster said last night tonight that besides Adrian Peterson and the Vikings only one other team had managed to break 100 yards on the Packers D-line this season.
Side note: While I very much enjoyed the Packers Vikings game (except for the weak last 1/3 of the game *facepalm* gotta get that killing rage thing the Patriots do guys), great plays on both sides offensively and defensively, I gotta say the actual no gak sportsmanship displayed by both teams was nice to see. End of the game, smiles, hand shakes all around. Hell Matthews and Adrian Peterson bro-hugged, and Matthews put Peterson THROUGH the dirt at least twice this game, and an odd half dozen times this season alone. While I think holding up pro athletes as role models for kids is a serious failing of society and a terrible idea, it's nice to see these guys actually doing the whole sportsmanship, fair play, etc stuff.
If the packers O-line can do their job, they will be raising that silver Lombardi for a 5th time (technically 3rd since it did not get handed out until the 5th SB). Packers have the BEST qb in the NFL right now, not once of the best, 2nd or 3rd, THE BEST. 9ers are banged up right now and and thier kicking game, which could mean the difference of a W or an L is on life support. Raji, Mathews and the front 7 are doing a great job crowding the line and their secondary is playing with a cut throat attitude. This is looking like the 2010 packers.
Unless, the Falcons don't fold like a cheap tent... which they will, next week.
Speaking of Lombardi's I have found out, there are more than one Lombardi trophies that are handed out, some are passed to high ranking staff members such as GMs.
It shouldn't bother me, but it does. It makes it seem... less holy.
Agreed on Rogers being the best. It's actually quite special for me because I was a sprout/not paying attention for Elway and the rise of Farve and Peyton Manning both.
So Rogers is the first career I've really been getting to follow from the start and he's well on his way to legend mode.

Meh they're pretty darn close, Wilson seems a little more cool but RGIII is clearly the better athlete/thrower. The thing that really sets them apart is their defenses. The Seahawks defense is intense.

For sure. It was annoying having a better record than the person ahead of you(eyes on you kronk).
And the redskins good lord, RGIII knee is messed though now, he's clearly in pain again. They need to teach that boy how to slide and breakfall.
My favourite team did well today, a fitting end for Ray Lewis' career (I knew he doesn't retire until season end, but the last win at M+T Bank Stadium? A fitting end as I said). I must commemorate the win with some fluff for my Bahltimyr Reavers' Traitor Marine army. Perhaps the Bolters of Endenapolis get wiped out?
True on the Texans talk. They've fallen off their hot streak, that's for sure. The offense is playing too tight. It's like they're too scared to make a mistake. If they play this poorly next week, they're done, sadly.
I think even if they play their best, as long as the pats don't drop 4 turnovers they aren't gonna win. New England is the better team, and we aren't having another 45-3incident this year. If you stop foster you basically shut down the texans offense, and the pats can shut down the run pretty well. We're rested and ready I can't wait!!!
Edit:next weekend is looking awesome! BroncosVbaltimore, texansvPatriots, SeattleVAtlanta(probably), and ninersVPackers should be awesome games!
It's painful watching RGIII run. He's just not going to get it done on the ground today. Seattle should have a lot more points here at ~11 minutes to go in the 4th. We'll see.
And I think you're wrong about the Texans. We have excellent corners and D line. We should be able to keep them to 27 points next week.
Texans 35 Pats 27. That's my number for next Sunday.
It wouldn't be the first time I was wrong haha but this is playoff trash talk time so I'm ok with my opinion;p. And I doubt the texans score more than 20 on the pats.
RGIII better be done.... They're gonna ruin his career if they keep this up.

I'm still favoring the Texans...
As to RG3... he's done.
The one thing has impressed me about Russell, (which shows in this game) is that after he handsoff the ball to the RB, he immediately runs down field to setup blocks. How often do you see QB to that?
I'm sorry his season is over, but you had to pull him after that last play. Give him the off-season to recover and he'll be back, smarter and more experienced. He's got to learn to slide, man. He's going to be one hell of a threat as his career continues.

I'm a Ravens guy, so I'm just a casual observer. However, he makes the NFL better.
I can't even believe I'm gonna say this. But I think this is prime time for Atlanta to get that playoff W. Seattle flew to the east coast for this game. Unless they stay on this side of country you think they can handle that round trip twice in a week? I want the Seahawks to win despite my hatred for dumpster Sherman. And I mean maybe they're too young and dumb to be affected by the travel but man that's a rough road.

It's partly Shanahan's fault for keeping him in for so long, the 'Sins looked good for the 1st quarter then just disappeared and Seattle appeared
And well done to Ray Lewis, led the team in tackles and really psyched up their D for that game
No one has comments about RGIII's knee? Total reconstruction and out 6-8 months. Good job shanahanigan's for potentially ruining the best thing the redskins have had in years... He may come back fine or never really regain trust in the knee who knows with young players like that, such a shame.

You wanna talk about how it's Mike Shanahan's fault? RGIII needs to learn to slide and protect himself as he goes down like every other qb in the league. I get that he's a mobile qb and is dangerous when left alone because he's so quick, but he's not some unique snowflake, he needs to learn that he's gonna get injured if he keeps acting like that. Oh well.
Edit: I'm more interested in the names being thrown out for Browns head coach.
Current Names: Marc Trestman Bruce Arians Bill Cower? (wtf?)

Saw that last play he was in where he fell and it was horrifying to watch. He should NEVER have been put in that position. To potentially ruin the career of such an exciting player like that is unforgivable. He was already hobbling around like an old man with a cane before that happened. Just asking for trouble... I hope he bounces back like AP did this season.

Shanahan also kept him in the game when he obviously was limping, they should both shoulder the blame

I don't think RGIII should take any blame for any of this whatsoever. Does he need to learn to slide and protect himself? YEP, but yiu could also argue he should have been coached up on that. Players want to play and get PAID to play. Shanahanigan's is the coach that needs to make the correct long term decisions for his teams future. After his one run to the sideline where he was hobbling the whole way they should have pulled him. Great story making the playoffs this year, but they should have shut it down and go for gold next year.

RG3 didn't ask to get pulled, the doctor also didn't try.
In my book all 3 played a part , Shanagan and the Doctor did have more responsibility than RG3 but he isn't blameless
Hmm ok maybe no blame was a little strong, but why would a QB ask to get taken out of the game with a chance to move on in the playoffs. I just can't get my head around RGIII shouldering any major blame in this. And didn't Dr. Andrews come out and say he didn't even give the ok for griffin to play? So clearly his opinion was getting ignored.
Kronk I'm so pumped for this game it's not funny! This weekend was just terrible football all the way through... And especially with no patriots game I'm jonesing.
How healthy are the texans? I heard you got brooks reed and that TE back. We're getting Gronk, and our corners back by all accounts. I'm hoping this isn't a year on year off thing with the AFC rematches for patriots.
We're pretty healthy. The big men on Defense are good to go, as is our main Offensive players. You can see the list here.
Owen Daniels, our best Tight End, played just fine last week. Tate and Foster are both healthy, as is Shaub and Andre Johnson. They just haven't been hitting on all cylinders, sadly. If they don't show up this weekend, that's it for us, regardless of how well the Defense plays. Another 2nd round loss would suck...
You guys having that week off to heal is going to hurt us this week, I'm afraid.
Yah it was pretty huge. We got to rest our starting corners another week, and get Gronk a week of rest after his first game in 6 weeks.
And yah who's the other TE you guys have besides Daniels? Cause he played in the last game it was the other guy. Which was all the announcers kept talking about.
And I know that our defense isn't "as" good as the bengals, but you guys better be bringing TD's not field goals.
Some one I know put him as a starter over Daniels on his fantasy team one week only for Daniels to play really well and everyone else watching the game to rip into him
I think that if Shaub can hit >80% the Texans stand a good chance of the Patriots, and if JJ Watt & Co. can get enough pressure and hits on Brady that would be huge boost.
I can't see the Ravens beating the Broncos minus Manning being forced to leave the game,
The Packers should be able to fight well and hard against the 49ers who are a bit erratic under Kaepernick, and the loss of Justin Smith has been hard for the 9ers' D to adjust fully to
The Seahawks could easily squeeze past the Falcons if they play as well as they did against the 49ers in week 16
Have you guys seen the 2 articles of back and forth between patriots and texans writers? Dan shaughnessy is the Boston guy. And some dude from Galveston have been hilariously craptalking. What a joke.
Haven't seen that. Galveston is fun, though. I like The Strand and the restaurants on the Seawall. Sometimes, the water is clear enough to see your feet! Stupid Mississippi Delta depositing silt into the gulf...
Yah I've been meaning to visit a friend that lives there as a soon to be large ship captain. He just bought the most insane riverfront property for dirt cheap. But yah idiotic Dan shaughnessy wrote how the texans are a joke and this will be a cake walk. And then the Galveston herald writer wrote an article how the patriots are chokers and stuff: just rediculous back and forth.
So, Browns have a head coach. Former Browns Tight Ends Coach, and Offensive Coordinator for the Browns and the Carolina Panthers, Rob Chudzinski. Apparently it also means that we're getting Norv Turner as our offensive coordinator.
Chancetragedy wrote: Norvell as your Offense coordinator is actually an awesome hire IMO. He sucks as a coach but he's a good-great offensive mind.
I think it's a miss on the part of the Browns, simply because it took them this long and they blundered with Chip Kelly. If Rob was the first or second interview, I could see it, but he has been interviewed twice this week, and I'm sure part of the thing was that Chud could get Norv here in Cleveland, for the exact reason that you said. Norv is a good offensive guy, I feel the two of them could help develop Trent into an actual running back and help Weeden we'll see. I'd like this to not turn into another Pat Shurmur, i.e. hiring a coordinator as an untested head coach. We'll see... the one thing that I hope they don't do is take our defense and make it a 3-4 defense
Also, thinking that the Seahawks are going to beat Atlanta... Which would be one amazing NFC championship game in the Packers/Seahawks at Lambeau Field, revenge for the stolen win. Oh man that would be a great game
The thing is the NFC games seem much harder to call than the AFC games this week, that being said the 6 Brady/Belichick playoff loses have been to teams they beat in the regular season, so fate may win it for the texan (Who with the ravens are 3/1 odds to win)
To be fair I don't think chip Kelly was going anywhere in the nfl this year. He seemed to just be testing the waters. And if anywhere fit his "scheme" it was Philly. So driving up the price if he chose to make the jump was a good idea.

It's less that they lost Chip Kelly, and more of the fact that they went to Arizona and spent 7 hours in meetings with Chip, and it seemed like they were pressing hard to get him, and he leaves them at the dinner table like a bad blind date. If they had kept it secretive, if they had gotten him to come to Cleveland for the interview, I would feel less upset about it.
Listening to the press conference right now. He sound more excited than Pat did...
True that, unfortunately I this day and age of technology not much is secretive. I don't know much about chud to comment on whether he can do anything worth while or not. Just be glad your team is making decent moves.
You could be the jaguars that won't even get Tebow to stop their games from being blacked out ;p

Local sports casters seem to think that Chud is at least a lateral move from Pat Shurmur, but we'll see...
Haha piston I've been growing my nails out for 2 weeks! When my team plays in any format such as real life, fantasy, or pick em I end up biting them a ton. This texans pats game is gonna hurt I have a not so great feeling.

I get way too emotionally evolved with my sports teams, in particular my Denver Broncos.
I live and die with wins and loses. I get very depressed when they lose to the point people know not to talk to me for a while.
When my New Jersey Devils lost in the Stanley Cup I was depressed for days and missed work.
My Sacramento Kings are now moving to Seattle..... this is what it must feel like to be a fan of the Sonics, Browns, Colts...

Except that the Browns got their browns back, the Colts got the Ravens (in a weird way), and now the Sonics fans get their "Sonics" back it's sort of win win, unless of course, you're in Sacremento
Pretty wild so far. As good as the bronco's are I doubt balti goes away anytime soon. And how is Flacco so good just lofting jump balls all day, so frustrating
Automatically Appended Next Post: And Jacob Hester getting some air time with his good blitz pick up!
For those who've been in the thread all year you'll understand that one ;p
Man this has actually been a pretty awesome game of tit for tat. If all 4 games are gonna be this good, what a weekend were in store for! And yah smith has TORCHED bailey. 2 catches 91 yards 2 Tds...
Meh, calls have gone both ways. Home team always gets more calls and it's always been that way. That why I'm rooting for Baltimore so IF the Pats win tomorrow next weeks game is at the razor!

Did the Kings settle on that deal? I heard that the current owners wanted to sell the team, but still be able to make important decisions ala where the team stays.
Going copy and paste what I noted in DCM... too tired to think straight right now...
As a Broncos fan I'm gutted, but still proud of the team for the season.
My only issue with the game at all was coaching calls for the plays on the last two drives of the fourth quarter. I've been following NFL long enough to know play to win or go home... I had no idea what they where thinking there. Give the ball back to a team who have already made two touchdown drives in around a minute and change on the clock in the game.
And then to chicken out on a play for a field goal, but kneeling with 30 secs on the clock. I said to Aura if we lose.. that's why before OT even began.
Hell when the Ravens won the toss, I expected us to lose right there, but we managed to turn them over, and damn Peyton folds under pressure.
First off I'm not a big believer in Peyton's "clutchness". But I'd hardly call what he did folding under pressure. Something had to give at some point. And also the play calling on both sides in the fourth quarter and OT was horrendous. The ravens Lets run Ray Rice on firs and second down every set of downs then throw on third was so predictable even Dan FREAKING IDIOT dierdorff knew what they were doing.
And an AFCC rematch between New England and Baltimore next week will be sweet. The ravens just played 80 minutes of football in a mile of altitude, at 6-8 degrees weather. They will be drained and ripe for allowing Brady his fourth Lombardi and a trip to his 6th in 11 years. Provided the texans lose like I'm hoping.
An easy victory for Fortyniners against GB Packers today! but a pair of commentators said that 49ers fans regularly boo at their own team when being 'home'
right?
My dad is a big fan of 49ers. and would like to see them go to the Superbowl. (and win!)
Yah 41-28 patriots! Great game. I'm glad the texans kept fighting. How can you cover all the weapons on the pats offense? This was crazy seeing so many people involved on offense. Sorry kronk in the words of George saint'pierre this loss will make them stronger and will be the a good learning experience.
Edit:the ravens scare the crap out of me. And I'm sort of glad they won the first game.
Hahaha. Allegedly, I'm actually more afraid of Bernard pollard against the pats than Lewis. Pollard has hurt welker, Brady, and Gronk in the past 4 years.
Chancetragedy wrote: Hahaha. Allegedly, I'm actually more afraid of Bernard pollard against the pats than Lewis. Pollard has hurt welker, Brady, and Gronk in the past 4 years.
I would allegedly like to see the suit he was wearing that night.
Me too! Since they sole the trophy from the Rams in '01!
Marshall Faulk is that you!?!
But on a serious note, I can't believe how spoiled I/Boston sport fans have been the last 12 years. Patriots refuse to lose, bruins won the cup, Red Sox got 2 after almost 100 years of never winning, and even the celtics won a championship!!!
Now the patriots are going to their 7th AFCC in 12 years under Brady/Belichick. With a shot of having gone to an average of every other Super Bowl the last 12 years as well. I get to watch the greatest QB ever to play coached by one of the best coaches ever, the list just goes on and on.

Perhaps the greatest multi-back EVAR! Friggin awesome to witnessed the "Greatest Show on Turf". Only contention from that '01 Superbowl was how the Pats corner got away with blatant "fondling" of the Rams recievers.
Boston sports has been spoiled lately... I just want the NFC team to win the Super Bowl.

Marshall Faulk was amazing on the colts and rams.
And yes the pats DBS and LBS mauled the rams in that game. Thankfully everything they did was 100% legal at the times and you gotta be prepared for it. Outside of Warner the rams had no balls.
Edit:and piston I'm really glad your broncos took the ravens 80 minutes. They are gonna be beat to crap for a beating by the pats.

It's not like this is hockey where one team has had a week of rest vs another team that played a long bloody 7 games series.
It was an additional 15 and some change minutes to a game in a league where they do this for 17 weeks.
If anything, it works in the Ravens favor being battle tested, seems to have been the trend in the NFL as of late.

I have a question for you, what's Bill's record without Tom Brady?
Flacco has done something no other QB in NFL history has....
He has won a playoff game in each of his first five years as a starter.
Even Brady didn't do that.
helgrenze wrote: Flacco has done something no other QB in NFL history has....

No Brady didn't do that. He only won 3 SB.
And alf Belichicks record is 1-1 without Brady in the playoffs, and like 500 as well in the regular season not sure entirely what his record was with the browns.. What does that matter? They're record together is what is getting them into the hall of fame.
Also too piston yah it sort of is. This is a game of simulated car crashed and the ravens got old bones that have been rattled for longer than a young and hungry pats team. The pats have also OWNED the ravens historically. 2 losses in 9 meetings?

Billy's record in Cleveland is 37 and 45 (taking into account his 1 post season win and 1 post season loss in the ole 216. His record in New England is 5 and 11 in 2000, and they lost the season opener in 2001 while Bledsoe was QB, he gets injured and Brady becomes the starter. From there yes, the patriots have done amazingly well with their "dominance" of the post season, only missing 3 times since Belichick has taken over as head coach. But I'm more inclined to give Brady the better bit than Belichick. Is he a good coach? yes, but one of the greatest? Highly Doubtful. I'd love to see what happens once Tom retires.
Patriots have also had one of the easier divisions to get out of,
the Bills had their heyday in the 90s with those 4 SB appearances in a row, and haven't had a winning season since 2004 (9-7)
the Jets got to the AFC championship in Sanchez's first two seasons but he's regressed since then as has the team since as a whole
the Dolphins were great with coach Shula and Dan Marino but haven't really since either (best Season since 2010 when they were also 7-9)

Billy has on of the highest win % of any coach that are widely considered the best, and we know what he's gonna do once Brady retires. Go 11-5 with a backup QB... And be the first team in 25 years to miss the playoff with that record DOH!
Edit:And hilaine you play the games on your schedule. They can't magically move to a tougher division so that means nothing. Do you blame the colts from coming out of the pitiful afc south for so many years? Why havent Baltimore and the steelers one more superbowls coming out of arguably the toughest division over the last few years or any other team.
Look I can understand people not agreeing with what I'm saying, but the proofs in the pudding. The patriots over the last 12 years have put up numbers and wins at a pace no one in history has...
I know that it's just it gives 6 easier games, the Brady/Bilichick combo has been pretty dominant in the AFC
And they still beat good teams like the Texans but did lose to Baltimore in the regular season.
Brady's success also helps my personal theory of QBs starting as a backup enhances their abilities than if they started straight away, provided they backed up a solid enough QB. Other QBs in this catergory being Aaron Rodgers (Brett Farve) Eli Manning (Kurt Warner) Tom Brady (Drew Bledsoe)
Chancetragedy wrote:Billy has on of the highest win % of any coach that are widely considered the best, and we know what he's gonna do once Brady retires. Go 11-5 with a backup QB... And be the first team in 25 years to miss the playoff with that record DOH!

I'm not arguing that Belichick has great stats, but you have to look at his stats when Brady is not on the field. Brady is great QB, and can do wonders on the field with very little to work worth. 2008 was the last time Brady was majorly injured if I remember correctly. The patriots went 11 and 5 with a backup quarterback and missed the playoffs. Is that a winning record? Feth yeah it is, but again look, no playoff spot for the Patriots without Brady. Belichick = Good Coach, Brady = Great QB, Belichick + Brady = Damn good combination.
The Steelers make plenty of Super Bowl games, and have 6 wins, twice the number of New England, with three of those happening in the past decade, so on that front they're even on that front, they also missed 3 playoffs since 2004, and 5 times since 2000. And while the Steelers are just as dominant in the post season as the Patriots, they're old and aging. Many of their players have been playing for at least 7 years. In the AFC north, that's a long time. It's a wonder that Ray Lewis is playing as well as he has, considering his long career with Baltimore. The Ravens I don't consider as elite as the Steelers, and if you want to know why? Look at their fall from grace this season. Battling the Texans for that #1 spot and they just crumpled, but managed to stay in because everyone else was doing just as poorly, and did better against their division rivals.
You can't pick and choose stats alf. You can't say Belichick without Brady. You take the entire sum. If you go down that road I can rip to shreds any and every single coach you can argue for.
Take the sum of the parts in GOAT discussions.
Picking and choosing stats is rediculous, what would Walsh be without Montana and rice? What would Lombardi be without Starr, what would Shula be without Unitas and Marino? Landry without Unitas? Brown without graham or brown. Come on man.

Picking out stats would be if I said, well on September 24th, 2008, the patriots lost without Brady, see look my point has been made. Besides, you're the one that said that without Brady, Belichick would probably go 11 and 5 with a backup QB and still miss the playoffs, you went even so far as to say that he would be the first guy within the past 25 years to do so. I simply went back into Belichick's season to season wins, looking for a time when Brady was injured. I won't lie, I was specifically looking for a 4 week period or so where Brady was out to compare their win/loss record with a similar time period where he was in. Luckily for me, I found an ENTIRE season that was missing Brady that fit your predictions. Was it a winning season? yes, but did they make it to the playoffs? No, they didn't make it, even though they had a worse record the following year and made it into the playoffs.
Yes, Belichick will most likely be let into the Hall of Fame because of his 12+ years with New England, but just like no one will ever mention Ray Lewis killing a guy when he gets into the Hall of Fame, Bill Belichick will ONLY be remembered for his winning years in New England with the awesomeness that is Tom Brady, and not with his six crap years in Cleveland. I'm merely saying that Belichick is a good coach, but not Greatest of All Time. I'll go out and say that Bill Walsh is a good coach as well, again not GOAT, considering that Joe Montana was not a starting QB for the 49ers until 1981, and their record reflects that during the Walsh years. Yes 1982 was a bad year for Joe, but his season stats were amazing considering that there were only 9 games. From 1981 (when Montana started) to 1988 when Walsh left, the 49ers had only 1 losing season, and that was the only time they failed to make it to the playoffs.
Bart Starr was also a backup quarter back taking over full time during Lombardi's first year, and they only failed to reach the playoffs 3 times while Vince was coach at Green Bay, and non of those seasons were losing seasons. So while it might have been a combination of Lombardi and Starr, Lombardi went to show he could win elsewhere with his single season at Washington where he went 7-5-2 and came in 2nd place. Albeit I don't know much of his tenure in Washington. Lombardi I would say is probably the Greatest of All Time, but who am I? Just some average joe.
All I'm saying is that without Brady, Belichick is just average, just like many of great coaches in the NFL. If you give them a good QB, they'll give you great results.
If nothing else can be taken from my little foray into the records of these coaches is that whoever said that backups with good training become great qbs was right as just looking at Starr, Montana, and Brady are all proof.
Belicheck has 3 rings and 5 superbowl appearances. He'll likely get numbers 4 and 6 this year. You don't "let" someone like that into the Hall of Fame. He earned his way in.
Is he the greatest coach ever? No. Certainly not. Top 10? Maybe.

Chancetragedy wrote: Uhh your clearly cherry picking stats but ok I don't really feel like arguing anymore because of your style, so you win.
and don't forget Rodgers started as a backup as well.
Not sure how I'm cherry picking stats, perhaps you can explain that one to me. I took coaches you named with quarterbacks you named, and compared their winning seasons to their losing seasons as well as season in which they had winning records and failed to make the playoffs. There is a pretty clear fact that those coaches (except Lombardi) had losing seasons before they had their killer QBs.
I'm just saying that it'll be interesting to see how Belichick performs WITHOUT Brady. And I never said Aaron Rodgers was a bad quarterback, again that's another spot of a backup being groomed to take over and performing well.
Sure there are backups that came in, did well initially and have sucked since... Matt Cassel is a decent example of that, 10 and 5 as Brady's replacement in 2008. He went 10 and 5 in games started (finished out the first game win after Brady's injury). What has he done since then? went 4 and 11, 4 and 5 (he may have had a better season had he not been injured, can't say), and 1 and 4 in 2012 before being injured. Maybe Brady is a damn fine qb, but a terrible teacher. It wouldn't really surprise me, since several of Belichick's ex-staff have gone off and not had much success in the NFL, but whatevs.

Even Brady didn't do that.
Here I am a Ravens guy and didn't put that together. Thanks!
Just popping in as I'd like to note my Peyton comment earlier in the thread was a little harsh, or came out so in the moment immediately after the loss.
Not so much he folded under pressure, but threw the ball in a way he really knew he shouldn't have, poor fella willl be kicking himself for weeks.
Was a great weekend overall though, enjoyed every game. Can't wait for the Championship games now,
The championship games are gonna be intense. I'm really interested to see if the weight has really been lifted from the falcons and if smith can out coach Harbaugh. Atlanta definitely has the weapons and balance to hold the 9ers at least in check and keep it close, especially with a rookie at QB in that dome. But ultimately I think the 9ers squeak out a close game. Which stinks cause I think the pats are gonna eek out a close one against Baltimore and I'd rather they play the falcons in the SB ;p
No Niner fans in here? We gonna be feasting on dirty bird this Sunday! I predict a massive blowout. I was super impressed by Kaep's composure, minus the taunting penalty
Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll sure seem to have made the right decisions with their QB situations this year. If it wasn't for Bruce Arians I'd say Carroll was coach of the year.

Even Brady didn't do that.
And Flacco is not even an elite QB.
So say Tom Brady and Peyton Manning:
Warning NSFW Do not open if you are opposed to cuss words. (But it is hilarious).

So, there is a report coming out of Philly that Chip Kelly has been hired as the coach of the Eagles.
I can't find anything on Googles, but local radio station has said Chris Mortensen reported and it was apparently confirmed by a Jeff McClaine from a Philly newspaper.
Alf as a Philly fan and follower of their team. What's the deal with their front office? Lots of reports of "shakiness" or whatever that means. Or whatever that meant for the reid firing. What's your opinion on them?

With Philly's front office? Idk, we've had a lot of "dealings" with the run off from the Eagle's Cheesesteak if you will. We've picked up Banner, who is looking at Ray Farmer for the GM/in charge of player personnel, who Banner drafted as a linebacker back in the day, and a few other things. I've got nothing against the Eagles. My ire is simply for the fact that Chip Kelly was wishy washy on his dealings with the NFL last year and this year. There was a student that tweeted out that just signed up to Oregon after Kelly visited him in his home 2 days ago, and now is probably locked in to Oregon even though Kelly isn't there.
I don't know much about the Philly front office other wise I are Cleveland fan.
Yah alf that is pretty shady about Kelly I didn't think of it that way. Most everything I heard was praising eagles FO for being persistent. But Kelly is kind of scummy in that regard.
And that manti te'o story is not even believable.... Holy shoot.

apparently ND have confirmed the rumours, the main question being now if Manti was in on it or not

It's fine, it just sucks that Cleveland sports media is going to spend the next two to three years comparing Rob Chudzinski and Chip Kelly until one of them gets fired, or Chip resigns and runs back to Oregon. I wonder if he only accepted the position to escape the possible sanctions that Oregon is facing.
You ask me, T'eo was the victim of a catfishing hoax, but he obviously invented a lot of lies to perpetuate that hoax. Maybe he was just embarrassed to admit he had a "relationship" with some person he never actually met. So he made up the bits about them meeting at a Stanford game, meeting back home, meeting at all, etc.
Regarding the Eagles FO -- from someone who's not a fan but lives in the area -- the issue there is that their GM is this dweeby guy without any football background. That doesn't mean he can't do the job, but he doesn't seem to get much respect from people inside football. His free agent buying binge (remember the "dream team"?) two years ago was fairly disastrous, so he doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
I should also add that I think it's very possible the girl was a cover for a relationship between T'eo and Tuiasosopo (sp?). That would explain many things.
So, while Philly is enjoying the spotlight with the Chip Kelly hire, Browns have hired Norv Turner as offensive coordinator, Mike Sullivan as Offensive Line Coach, Scott Turner (Norv's Son) as Receivers Coach, kept on two of the old coaches from the previous staff.
Chicago Bears hire Mark Trestman, do any of the bears fans have any opinions on him? He used to work for the Browns, went to the CFL and has won two championships up there for Montreal.

Any other teams making hires?
I looked up Trestman on wiki upon the announcement, his NFL/CFL career has always featured good-to-great offensive play, along with the two championships he won the division 4 out of 5 years he was there.
Here's hoping for a good draft and improved O-Line play

he was on Cleveland's radar, and had one or two interviews... I hope ya'll do well, again I'm only hoping that Chip Kelly fails lol
The Bears have also signed the Cowboys Special teams coach as their assistant head coach and Brandon Marshall has came out in favour of Trestman's signing

Based on the posts that I've made, the ones that Hlaine has made, etc... Dakkanauts, what do you think of your favorite team's off season coaching changes?
I'm decently happy with the Browns so far, I mean it can't be worse than Shermur. Also, it would be weird if he got the Panthers Offensive Coordinator job. Browns former head coach is the replacement of his replacement.
So, I just had a weird realization today... I know, on some personal level, at least 2 players in the NFL. Defensive Lineman for the Carolina Panthers and of the Ravens, Haruki Nakamura, and Offensive Tackle for the San Fransisco 49ers, Alex Boone.
Haruki and Boone went to St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio. I went to St. Eds my freshman year (while those two were juniors and seniors). But Alex Boone also went to my grade school, and was two years ahead of me. I remember shadowing him and some of his friends at St. Eds when I was in 8th grade, we were in his biology class, and he ate a bit of a sea sponge.
It just seems weird that I have such anecdotes about pro football players. I'm sure people that went to high school with other superstars like LeBron James, etc... feel the same way.
So piston Honda and byte for the pick em championship the next 2 weeks... 4 points separates these titans of the dakkairon as they go to battle two more times for all the bragging rights they can muster!!!
T-Minus 8.5 hours till patriots V ravens kick off and I've been losing my mind all week. Can't go play warhammer to pass the time cause I played in a tournament yesterday(which i got 1st place out of 8! My first tourney win ever with foot hoarde C:SM no less!!!). So now I'm cleaning and listening to local sports radio, what do you guys do to pass the time waiting for your teams hotly anticipated games?

thats awesome that you guys have some form of american football there... I actually recently started with a local Rugby club where I'm at
Yeah, it's the first I''ve been there and we actual have close to 30 players, it's not that popular but there's several leagues here but the full leagues are nothing compared to the German ones
San Fran is never out of it. It's the only team that I'd actually be nervous about the patriots playing. Although ATL's offense is pretty scary with Ryan playing pretty good.

Yeah, even as a Ravens fan it will get tiresome.
But on the other hand, two brothers head coaching against each other has never happened before, and Ray is a defensive icon so they kind of have to make it a big deal.
