Hey there folks,
Got back into 40K a few months back after a looooooooooong absence. Am building an Eldar 1500 list at the mo to start off with and after looking through all the craftworlds' schemes have settled on that of Mymeara. Seriously love the colour scheme. Anyone out there painted in this scheme before? I paint by brush rather than airbrush and most of the tuts on the internet I found were focused on airbrushing. Looking for any advice, tips, techniques and which GW paints to get. Cheers in advance

Very hard to get right with GW paints. I ended up having to get two Vallejo paints in order to get exactly what I was after. You can check the plog here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/524844.page

like the look of your WS. I'm gonna go a little darker at the back I reckon on the one I just bought.
yeah...was just having a look through the GW paints and I reckon the colours are there for the job.....Sotek green, sybarite blue(?), temple guard blue etc...... the blending is gonna be a bit of a process to to get a method for doing whole squads. I was thinking about Iybraesil as well but really do prefer the look of Mymeara. Living in SK, I just can't get my hands on Vallejo and there is only 1 (yup one) shop in the whole country that stocks GW merc. o.O

Actually with the new paints, I have not had much difficulty. I will take some pictures tonight to show my results. Kalabite Green blending to Sotek green. Coerlia Greenshade 1:3 Lahmian Medium about 8-10 coats to ease the transition. (SEE GW Nagash tutorial on how this is done). Then reinforce Kalabite Green and Sotek Green and highlight appropriately.
My sticking point right now is whether to use Bone or White as my secondary color.
I will also look up in the Forgeworld Masterclass book the original colors. I know it was Hawk Turqoise and Orkshade Hide was fixed with something to get the original color.

Excellent and cheers!! would love to see how it's turned out for you. It's such a lovely rich and exotic colour scheme - totally suits the eldar.

I considered doing a Mymeara scheme for my Aeronautica force (I also considered doing a full 40k Eldar army but by then I was too disenchanted with 40k to start another army ). In the end I dropped the green and just went blue, ever so slightly turquoise (in the pictures it just looks blue though). http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/597521-nightwings1.html?m=2 I was going to do a 28mm scale Eldar army the same way. Mymeara really suits an airbrush unfortunately, doing those transitions with a hairy brush is massively time consuming and you'll probably never get it looking anywhere near as good. My technique was to airbrush the light blue areas, mask them off, airbrush the darker blue areas (the darkest blue in the light blue areas is the same as the lightest blue in the dark blue areas), pull off the mask, do black lining for the crevices (I just used a fine detail brush and painted the black straight in there cartoon style rather than trying to do any smoothing), then I just picked out the black and red details to make it pop a bit more. The light blue areas I just did light turquoise over a light grey Vallejo primer, focusing on the rearward edges to get the transition. The dark blue areas I think I did in 3 or 4 stages, the light blue first, one or two mid blues, then the dark blue (which was Caledor sky). Maybe if you didn't have an airbrush you might be better emphasising the transitions instead of trying to do blending. So do a hard edged pattern of very light blue, light blue, blue-turquoise then a green-turquoise. So something like this, where you aren't trying to hide the transitions:

Nice job on the nightwings there. I'm gonna have a bash at doing it by brush and wetblending. Wiil do a trial run on a primed plastic spoon first and if the wetblending works nicely there then a further trial run on with a wraithlord I bought. If all goes to gak may switch to Iybraesil which is pure turquoise rather than the green to blue blending. Fingers crossed though

The FW masterclass Mymeara models were Hawk Turquoise, Orkhide Shade and Ice Blue... however they were airbrushed over a pattern that was done in black and white to give the marbled effect so I'm sure some of the more subtle shades of green are probably Orkhide shade but airbrushed only very lightly over the predominantly white undercoat. If you're doing it by hairy brush you'll probably need to come up with another colour because you can't easily do the light tinting you can do with an AB.

ahhh - good to know. Got a method in mind to try which I'll try out on a piece of plastic first and see how it goes. prime partially in black and partially in white and then wet blending caliban green > sotek green > lothern blue. then some watered down washes to blend the transitions more. Shall see how it goes. Living in South Korea makes getting materials tricky at times. Stumped as to how am gonna manage the purple tinted canopies....but where there's a will and all that
59981
Post by: AllSeeingSkink
Definitely post up some pics to see how it goes. If it were me I'd be going for the hard edged scheme with 3 to 4 blue/green/turquoise colours, but that's just me For tinting the canopies, I don't know what the best way would be, maybe this? http://www.swannysmodels.com/Tinting.html I've also heard of people dipping in to Tamiya clear paints, you could try that, but I'd definitely test it on scraps first. Again, they're usually airbrushed rather than dipped. I'm not sure Tamiya makes a clear purple, but you could mix one from a clear blue and a clear red.

aye - really wanna try for a blended look. have a few methods I'll try first on some old Cd cases adn see how they turn out.
BuyPainted did a good youtube tut on tinting using Humbrol Clear ....but the likliehood of getting Humbrol in South Korea......plus they only come in green, orange and red (red would be ok I guess) I'm think of mixing in a little purple ink with some gloss varnish and medium and then painting the inside of the canopy with that. Again will try it out on a CD case first. fingers crossed.
Should really be finishing up my DV boxed set first but like doing loadsa different projects at the same time lol.
Pics will be posted

Oh yeah, I just watched the buypainted video, he just did it by hairy brush, I usually see people doing it by airbrush instead.
Well if you're going to apply it like the buypainted video, use the Tamiya clears I mentioned. The Humbrol clear is just going to be doing the same thing as a Tamiya clear. Or Gunze or Testors. The Humbrol clear was probably an enamel, Tamiya definitely make clear enamels and they also make clear acrylics.
X-23 is Tamiya's clear blue, X-27 is the clear red. Mix them to get a purple.

Waheeey - finally finished the Mymeara wraithlord. Pretty happy how it turned out. The wet-blending and 2B blending worked out pretty well. First Eldar I've painted in over 10 years. Really love the Wraithlord fig GW does these days. Cracking piece of kit. Now that it's done and photo'd (bit dark photos) start noticing wee things that I need to go back and do
Overall as a test model to figure out the scheme, think it worked out just grand. Next up .......Wave Serpent lol

Thanks so much. Took a wee bit of time to do. But was a test model of sorts to figure out the colour and technique to use for Mymeara so I went 'slowly, slowly, catchey monkey'!! Really really enjoyed painting this fig and it's come out just how I wanted. Wave Serpent next but it should be a little faster to paint as I have the method in mind now. Need to pick up some Guardians and see how well (or not) it'll translate across to smaller figs. Fingers crossed. My fiance is getting me some of the new Harlequin figs for a (very late!!) Valentine's present and want to try and reflect a Mymeara affiliation in their paint scheme. See how it goes. Will put some shots up here when I get onto them. Thx again

Keep going with the Eldar.
I've decided you shouldn't build and paint stuff if your heart's not in it. You end up resenting what you're doing, I did. I felt that I HAD to convert a Gundam model to have LEDs in it and just got fed up of modelling and abandoned the hobby as being too hard work.

haha - blody right - Eldar all the way. I've always been a sonn of Isha! seriously though, the Eldar have the coolest stuff. I break from them and paint something else to make sure I'll never get fed up painting Eldar. also its good practice painting the 'lesser races'
so glad though I managed to get a technique and schem together for craftworld mymeara. when i started that wraithlord, was a bit worried it wouldnt work out. I have a great army list together for a Mymeara ECW force but it includes warp spiders adn strinking scorpion (reeeeeeealy want to paint them) but i cant get my hands on the figs.

Cheers! Yeah...that whole paint scheme was very much a softly softly nervous thing. Wasn't 100% sure how it was gonna work out and whether the blends would work or not. She was the first I did with that scheme. The research I did b4 hand was .......arduous and not hugely helpful barring a few folk here on Dakka. But.....came out pretty lush in the end. Yep, brilliantly done!
Must confess I ended up skipping the motley on mine... I know, I know, I should be ashamed of myself...

Motley didn't take that long at all. Maybe 30, 40 mins the lot

hahahaa - yeah, and the massive grin on his face to go with it!!!!! on to the lass on the back next. The guy is looking aces mounted up on the bike. Really happpy how the whole thing is coming together. Need to get a move on on the base/dio as well.

Not far off finished now....but looking at the jetbike, wondering about putting some paint chipping and scrapes on there......no corrosion or anything (they being Eldar n all) but some scrapes along the cowling and on the fins......thoughts?
77159
Post by: Paradigm
Hmm. Normally I'd say go for it, on either normal or Dark Eldar, but I just can't see the Harlies allowing themselves to get scratched, even in battle. It would look good for sure, I'm just not sure it would fit...

aye - think you're right. I'm gonna leave it be for the now......

Just about there Couple of final wip shots before I base and dio it. Photos are a bit pish, but you get the idea. Really chuffed with how they came out. Colour scheme worked nicely- wasn't a wee bit unsure at times. Anyways - proper photos to come when the base is complete

Cheers TP. Photos are a bit naff but snapped them quickly on the way out to work. Played around with glazes a bit for this fig and worked out well. Few wee teeny things still to correct and fiddle with like the blood coming off the back of the glaive and such. Once the dio is completed, should look pretty good....just need to find a screaming space wolf fig running away for that

Jan - I'm intrigued. Tell me the background why your solitaire is such bad news?
Your diorama is looking sweet by the way. Need to find myself somewhere to buy plasticard from that's either not bought in truckloads-full or horrendously expensive for a piece the size of A4. And that said how did you get the paved stuff?
91816
Post by: Januine
Which paving? On the dio above or the stuff I used for the Deathwing dio?
I'm gonna write out a wee fluff piece for the Solitaire at some point soon - let you know
93349
Post by: TP^DC Deputy Manager
The stuff on the duo above. There are no wargaming shops other than GW that I know of near me and don't get time to go to town very often, so have looked on-line for plasticard and give up after getting hugely confused.
91816
Post by: Januine
ah ok. There's only one shop over here that in the whole country that stocks GW stuff at all. But all the stuff I use for basing/dios I buy at a local stationary/arts'n'crafts shop. The dio above is 2mm plasticard on the bottom, then 2 mm foamboard (that has the circles cut out of it), the stairs are made from cut pieces of the same foamboard. The tiles are made from 1mm card. I should really have used 1mm plasticard but didnt have any so I used card. Wouldnt again. All that is glued together/in place with a hot glue gun. The stones and sand come from a local river and put on in the usual PVA way. When all that's dry - it's sealed with 2 coats of PVA/water mix otherwise the spray primer will melt the foam and paint will seep into the card and make it swell and warp. That's basically it. After that prime, base and paint as normal I buy plasticard in A4 size from about 80p a sheet. Art/arts n crafts shops should have all this stuff pretty cheap.
35065
Post by: Calibanite Lion
The base looks good, I understand the frustrations with card, if you use cereal boxes they have a glossy side. Put the glossy side face up and the unprotected side face down into the pva, that way the gloss protects it when you base coat it.
91816
Post by: Januine
Aye. I shouldve just got off my arse and down to the A&C shop and picked up some plasticard (which I then did later o.O ) The card's turned out fine. It was just some bought card I had lying around. The edges did swell a bit with the PVA seal but then sorted themselves out as they dried. Have the basecoats down now and it begining to look well tidy. Shouldbe a belter when finished

The little slot.....well, let's have a look see Automatically Appended Next Post: And.......we're all done....ish!! All finished and assembled and done Really REALLY happy with the final result The fleeing Chaos Cultist is just a proxy for now until I can get my hands on a screaming space wolf marine running away which is what I'd planned for in the begining. I was gonna buy all the requisite parts from a Bitz site but that ends up kinda ripoffy to do. ANYWAYS......... here's the shots.

Thx so much for the comments folks, really glad you liked it. One of the things I really like about fig painting is coming up with an idea and seeing it come to life so to speak. Ur comments mean a lot
This month I'll be focusing on the DV Ravenwing squad for Para's painting comp but I want something else to do on the side. Can't decide what though. Torn between doing the new Harlie Shadowseer, the aspiring chaos champ Vrosh Tattersoul from DV, the DV librarian Turmiel or the new Sydonian Dragoon I bought..... Tell you what, why don't you lot decide as I can't. What should I paint next ?
This month is gonna be a bit tricky as my financee moves in in a week, my family is arriving in 2 weeks and I'm getting married in 3 weeks. Busy busy busy month. Always time for painting though lol

Then I say chaos champion. Nice bit of red (or whatever you choose) and keep the brain active.
I also think it's also ironic that you would be painting a Chaos mini in a month when you're getting married

I would go with the chaos champion, will be a good change up from the harlequins, I've been thinking about painting some of mine, torn between iron warriors, thousand sons or alpha legion though. I already painted two of them in pre heresy world eaters colours, not too fussed about painting them all different legions.

That Death Jester is absolutely majestic Jan, well done!
91816
Post by: Januine
tip? Don't use white!!
well..... bit of a lie. Actually there is very very little white used there at all. just a few highlights on the really obvious places.
Whole thing was base sprayed with skull white on a day when that blasted spray actually worked. Then onto that the deep recesses and shadow areas where painted in with a thinned mech standard grey (you can see it on one of the wip shots i posted over on the comp thread) then I used loads of realy thin layers of ulthuan grey (my not-white white colour) to blend and soften the recesses greys into shadows and give 'white'upper areas. Finally I used a little thinned white scar for the zenithal highlights on the top of the left thigh boot, biceps etc

Post by: Calibanite Lion
Death jester looks great finished, I really love the scenic bases that the harlies come with; they set things off nicely. The new troupe members are coming along, I like your not white approach to white, I'll have to remember that for when I get rid of this heat induced paint block.

Seems I will need to be following all of your work as the Eldar are fantastic. The Wraithlord is so smooth and clean its the epitome of an Eldar Ghost Warrior. The Harlequins are progressing steadily with an incredible amount of detail.
Do you have a plan for the models or are you more likely to just collect and paint the models you like?
91816
Post by: Januine
cheers again. The wraithlord was one of the first big figs I did after getting back to painting and my first attempt at 'wet-blending' and magnetising. Thank the emperor for YouTube!! I loved painting the Harlies. Always like their lot. I had the orinigal figs way back in the day. For now no real plan...ish. (Actually all of the stuff from Chaos, to Mymeara, to the AdMech are all kinda tied up in some fluff I'm writing) I just buy and paint what I like

Eventually 'yes'. At the minute it's in bits n bobs. Paragraphs, notes, characters backgrounds et al spread across numberous bits of paper, back of envelopes and in the 'notes' app on my ipad. It's all sorted and kinda in order in my head but......getting it actually down properlly...well..... I will be adding a bit to that AdMech dio I recently finished which tells how the Dominus came to have an ancient Castellax as his personal and constant companion. A much larger piece concerns the Freeblade Knight (which I really need to getting painting soon) and his connection to the Forgeworld from which the Dominus comes from.......I'll get there at some point

Oohhhhh - haven't been in here in a while!!! Have some Harlie stuff still that's been kicking about for ages and really needs done. So this month they are getting the love!!!! 2 troupers that are halfish done and a second skyweaver that needs to be done too. So hopefully this month they'll get all finished up

Post by: Januine
Still have some harlie stuff to finish up and with the Death Masque box arriving I now have a VoidWeaver and Eldrad, Lord of the Robes too (Selling the troupers, death jester and skyweavers from the box - thread up in the swapshop forum for that)
I just finished putting Eldrad together and they weren't lying when they siad its the most intricate/complex/detailed etc etc fig they've ever made. He is a gorgeous sculpt but a right fiddly wee git to put together and in one area the instructions are grossly inadequate and don't tell you what you need to do.
It's to do with the robes and the back and how his staff fits in. The staff is according to the instructions, basically the last thing that gets glued on. But when I was getting it ready I noticed and odd little groove that didnt seem to fit onto anything on his robes
A closer inspection of the boy himself revealed an odd groove hidden away in the middle of and behind some of his robes
Super, lovely. And you can't just slide the shaft of the staff down into the hole as you 'd think. Oh no - it doesnt work that way!
What to do - well you need to find this place on the bottom of him where two parts of the cloak come together but arent glued. and then gently (wait till all the other gluing is cured or you pull the pieces off their fittings) prise then apart. The plastic has enough give for this.
then slide the shaft in (shuddup >< so it's now rattling about and cant fall out.
then slide the staff up so the groves align, lock and the hand fits to the end of the arm - viola!
In the instructions, none of this is even hinted at, let alone shown in a diagram or even a picture showing him from the back.
I'm painting the staff and his head seperatly so hopefully I'll be able to do all this again once he's painted.
Anywho - hope this helps folk as he really is an absolutely stunning figure and is going to look the bomb when totally finished
Cheers
Jan
Hmmmmm - A closer

Thanks for the tip about assembling Eldrad. I should start painting mine next week, and I also planned to paint the head and the staff separately.
It kind of reminds me how the shoulder cloak of the death jester goes on. I had painted everything before assembling, and had the hardest time putting that last bit of cloak on there (and I scratched some paint in the process…).
And awesome work on your harlies! What are you plans for Eldrad? I'm still hesitating over painting him like GW (with the colors of his craftworld), or going for a harlequin look (with diamonds on the cloak)…

I looked at the website and it's only apparent when you see the model in 360° view
91816
Post by: Januine
Aye. The 360 on the site certainly helped.
Still thinking about colour scheme. I like the original colour scheme but I'm definitely going to change it a bit. Want to tie him into my own harlies a bit bit still keep something of his original scheme. I'll figure something out. May have a few subtle bits of motley showing in places but nowhere near as much as I've done on the players

Cheers for the heads up on the construction issue as I have not got round to mine yet, odd that the instructions make no mention of it. There were a few things about Death Masque that seemed a bit rushed, the lack of Skyweaver instructions, the insert about 25mm bases for the Harlequins.
91816
Post by: Januine
Ah gak happens. Aye sky weaver and troupe leader instructions were added in seperately. I'm selling mine anyway as I already have enough harlies. Lovely models though. Went for a Thai massage with Mrs Jan earlier and had an awesome idea for the outside of eldrads cloak. Just gotta figure how I'm gonna do it o.O

Post by: fresus
I just built my Eldrad. I had a lot more mold lines that what I'm used to with GW plastics. Also, the numbering of the pieces was way off (different number on the instructions and on the sprue). Not really a problem for a special character on separate sprues, but it sure feels like the instructions were rushed in that death masque box.
91816
Post by: Januine
Aye. Few of the numbers were mixed up and it seemed the instructions were 'cut to fit' just the one page.
91816
Post by: Januine
Eldrad is all ready for paint now so well put himtonthe side till next month. For the now I need to get on with the last sky weaver which I should have done ages ago. It's all primed so no excuses. I start with the front faring/canopy/bit. Penciled in what I'm gonna do so the first stage is to get the base colour shaded and then onto the design so eventually it's gonna look like the second pic

Interesting to see how it looks at the pencilled-in stage, Januine.

The pencil lines will be totally covered by the baseocaot but it just serves to give me an idea of what im doing when it comes to the freeehand later

Can't wait to see your Eldrad, Jan. What sort of colours are you thinking about then?
91816
Post by: Januine
Still thinking about the scheme......don't want to totally throw away the original scheme but do defintely want to put my own touch to it.....have a sweet wee idea/plan for his cloak but need to get the rest of him planned out first.....we'll see. Won't start him till Sept as he'll be my entry fro next month's painting comp. He really is a gorgeous sculpt

It really is helpful to see the process you take. Just so bleeding hard to emulate!

Post by: Januine
That's the background colour pretty much started. Just simple wet in wet. The bike will be tilting to the left so the left side is much darker. Start on the motley tomoro. The fun part

I'll give the faring/canopy (whatever the hell is the name of that part of a jetbike?!) another layer of wet-in-wet again today. Only really takes but 5 mins when you do wet-in-wet and gives a lovely smooth transition. I'l do the same on the bike's body but going from turquoise to white/grey there.

Post by: Januine
Nothing fancy, just sketched in the motley for the front hood thingy. I'll shadow and highlight then next so they appear to overlap in place. Very cathartic this motley business

Nothing fancy I would lose my mind doing that! Another benefit of your blog is I now know what motley means in this context.

That looks fantastic Jan. I really want to try painting diamonds like that now. It looks like a lot of fun.

I can see the "lost head" posters:
Have you seen this head, often attached to a really old space elf with psychic powers. Reward - him not annihilating you
Looking sweeeeet though

Lol. Cheers. Still needs glazes and then though huge delicious spiritstones to do

I'm using the GW gem paints due to a bit of laziness and also I think they come out well. They worked a treat in my opinion on the Nephilim

Good progress on his head.
Nice design on the jetbike. I like how the diamonds go across the face in particular.
91816
Post by: Januine
Cheers Dr H. I love doing Motley but wanting to make it a bit more interesting with a nod towards their holo-fields. Think it works well enough.
@TP - I'll do the spiritstones the old way I reckon. Still not convinced about those new tech paints for jewels and stones. Not enough contrast or punch I think

Wow Jan, the grey spiritstone looks incredible. Seems like you're raising your game with this one!
Where did you find the head btw? :p
91816
Post by: Januine
Cheers lads. He's a gorgeous model so he's getting the treatment. The head took me a stupid amount of time. No short cuts but happy happy. Haven't done grey spiritstones before but suits his character I think. Lotta lotta layers and glazes for them. 'Just' the body and staff still to do
Oh - head had got pushed under my middle painting rack somehow. Sneaky sneaky Eldrad!

Yep, good head, Jan'. Nice grey gems. Not thought about doing gems in grey before, I'll have to remember it as an option in future. Good job on the dark blue robes too.

@ aov - haaa - eejit. I have something a wee bit special planned but its a technique ive never done before so i reckon i should try it out and get it right first.. first try last night came out .....ok.
@dr h - cheers. i saw grey gems somewhere before nd quite liked them. thought they'd be something a little different and fitting for old Eldrad

What colours are you using on the robes there, if you don't mind me asking? I've not started mine yet and the idea of painting black robes is somewhat horrifying!!
Loving the look of everything! Will definitely keep an eye on this one!
91816
Post by: Januine
Hey there Nathan. I presume you're meaning the black/turq robes? They're done with abaddon black mixed with lahmian medium and then sotek green as the highlightinh colour. They're painted totally wet-in-wet to get nice smooth even blends. For doing robes, I find wet-in-wet give the nicest finish rather than layering or trying wet blend all those folds
84360
Post by: Mymearan
How do you do wetblending with GW colours? I've never been able to do it because they dry so fast.
91816
Post by: Januine
Never had that problem with GW paints. Put em on a wet palette. If doing wet-in-wet or wet blending on a big area, add a bit of lahmian medium. Small area, just a drop of water as usual works fine
91816
Post by: Januine

Great base. The marble effect is a very nice touch.
I painted the roots on my base green.
It's not that realistic, but it gives some contrast. On my harlequins, I have bases like on the box art (brown sand, grey stones, a bit of green turf), so I wanted something that matches, and since there's not much room for any turf (I didn't add a cork slab under the stone like you did), I went with green roots.
91816
Post by: Januine
Cheers Fresus. I went a reddish brown in the end. Adds a little spark of colour but doesn't distract. Marble was pretty quick and easy to do but breaks up the stone a little. Course it won't really be seen much once eldrads on top!
82832
Post by: Inevitable_Faith
That base is gorgeous. It is a shame that Eldrad be on top covering a lot of the great work here.

Wow Jan that looks amazing! What technique did you use to get the back of his cloak to look like that?
91816
Post by: Januine
Cheers I_F. The back of the cloak is done with layers of wet-in-wet painting. Then going back and highlighting some of the edges of the 'clouds' and deepening some of the black areas
78187
Post by: Thraxas Of Turai
Aye, glorious work on that cloak. It encompasses the scope of universe that a character such as Eldrad has. Did you copy any particular nebula/galaxy (apologies here, I am no star-gazer) or just make something up? It is excellent either way.
91816
Post by: Januine
Nah. Just made it up as I went along.

That Eldrad, stunning work on the robes and tassles there. Hope you get a chance to finish him over the weekend.

Eldrad is finished. All done. Based and cabineted until I get the camera out to take some decent snaps.
Dog is doing fine. Was talking to the vet and every Chuseok (Korean thanksgiving) they get a ridiculous number of pets, esp docs being brought in sick as ...well,... Dogs bcs of folk feeding them all the wrong thing as 'treats'. It was mostly the completely fething stupid amount of pork and pork fat they kept giving my dog that's made her I'll. She's only about 4.5kg yet she threw up about a soup bowl's worth of pure meat and fat. I'm still fething raging about it. But anyways .... She's alive and recovering so that's the main thing.

I've had a similar experience with my dog, mate. I won't let her have pork anymore, as it causes her a huge problem when she needs to go for #2. Usually at daft o'clock in the morning. Can't climb stairs when she's like that, so I have to carry her (and pray she doesn't explode on me-not happened yet!)

Luckily (or unluckily depending on how you look at it), I've never owned a dog, but after "doggysitting" one for the best part of 6 months on and off, I've found that you never, ever give them "human" food . I'm sure that how you've described the situation you do the same. Hopefully she makes a speedy recovery!
