Welcome all to the 13th round of the unofficial Dakka painting challenge, the first in a new and improved rotation of challenges that will run over the next 12 months! It's been a hell of a good run on these challenges for the first year of running them, and once the last results are in for February all manner of awards, retrospectives and general internet nerd partying will happen! For this month, though, we're going back to where it all began, the Space Marines!
That doesn't just mean you are limited to Adeptus Astartes and their traitor kin, though! Last time, we had all manner of creative entries, from Orks in looted Power Armour to a baffled squad of US Marines that found themselves IN SPAAAACE... and such outside the box thinking is definitely encouraged this time round. Equally, if you do want to just paint up any kind of 40k Marine, be they Chapter or Legion, Loyalist, Traitor or Renegade, Scout or Terminator, Tactical Marine or Chapter Master, then go for it!
How To Enter - You may enter up to 5 MODELS as a SINGLE ENTRY, and are permitted one entry per member per month. If you enter multiple models, they should ideally be related in some way, such as part of the same squad, unit or scene if you are doing a diorama - You MUST post a 'proof' picture of your entry in the thread of the state it was in before you started working on it; this must be either unassembled, unpainted, primed or coated a single colour. Entries that do not submit a valid Proof Picture will not be eligible for voting. - After this, you may post WIP pictures in this thread and your own if you wish, and on completing the entry, you may post up to 5 final pictures IN THIS THREAD that will then be used for voting. Please note that multiple pictures in a montage or collage picture will be considered individual images for this purpose, so while these types of presentation are certainly acceptable, please keep the image limit in mind when compiling them.
So What Do I Win? - Points... and points mean... bragging rights for the next month Following the vote, points will be awarded to every entrant. This year, the Points you receive will be equal to the Percentage of Votes your entry receives in the final Voting thread; if you get 10%, you get 10 points, if you get 6% you get 6 points, so on and so forth.
These points will be used to form a league table, which will be updated month on month as the results come in.
How Long Do I Have? This challenge begins 1st March and will end at midnight GMT on the 31st March. After this, I shall compile the finished entries into a new thread, and voting will run for 5 days.
1st to the 31st January? I'm assuming you mean March?
It's my birthday today and I'm expecting some kind of reinforcements to my growing mountain of boxes of unbuilt/unpainted Space Marines later this afternoon so I suppose today is the ideal time to finally try my hand at joining one of these comps I've loved watching over the last year.
I'll decide on the model(or 5) but at the moment I'm thinking of the Capt Agemman/Terminator Captain from the Start Collecting Space Marines Box if I'm brave enough.
Well my sallamder vet sarge is done, so the next would be a succesor chapter, decided on a blackdragon, still a bit of greenstuffing to do , but here is proof so long
Yes!!! good job Kingpin - Black Dragons finally getting some love. Love that chapter and then never seem to get much love - good on you fella - y'got my vote already!

thanks, the bonus about my project is i will get a chance to paint every. Chapter as i go along.

Also, loving the profile pic!
Cheers Deadshot, I love the profile pic myself
As far the Capt(which I will probably keep named as Agemman even though I'm trying to build Galenus' 5th) the only issue with me picking it is that I have a lack of confidence in my abilities to make him look decent/acceptable.

Now if all you heretics could read the OP properly, it clearly DOESN'T say January, it definitely says March
Precisely! Don't know what they're all on about!
On the other hand, sorry folks, brainfart moment and/or time warp occurred! All fixed now!
Don't think that Para won't blur and rehost your images when it comes to voting - HE'S DONE IT BEFORE!
If you think I gothrough and rehost everyone's pics each month, you're giving me far too much credit! I just copy whatever link people post, and for those that just attach the pics directly to a post, IMG tags all round!
A lot of this entry depends on when my forgeworld order gets here (hopefully soon) But I can do a 5 man legionnaire squad or a special character or two. It really depends.
This is probably the fastest I've seen this topic fill up, as well.
I don't have anything I could enter and actually finish. My only space marines are Horus, Fulgrim and Eidolon, and I am not going to get one of them done with how March is looking for me. I've got 4-5 days free, and a WHW tourney in April, so I'll be finishing my IG.
Good luck guys, looking forward to seeing a rainbow of marines.

Well, I've got no Spess Mehreens to paint this month.
I've improved quite drastically, I think. Hell, back in the first ever challenge, I did not know how to thin my paints. And now, I've done much better.
Paradigm wrote: ...to a baffled squad of US Marines that found themselves IN SPAAAACE...
Hooray for honorable mentions! I feel like my attempt was a bit lacking, as they still looked fairly close to regular Cadians, but I really hope this idea gains some traction with more skilled painters/converters. Really helps diversify the list of entries.
I'm done! No, this isn't a fix, the mini was genuinely painted today, he's been sitting for so long waiting for this challenge and I've been waiting to get to grips with him, so the inspiration was there from the word go!
Not final pics, as obviously I'm over the 5-shot limit, but there he is! Any thoughts welcome!
Hmm Ive got nothing for this month. Not to say I wont have something come through, but Space Marines are genuinely my least favorite faction and I dont keep a stock of their stuff around.
You know, you could slow down, enjoy the painting process. You are like a little kid who wolfs down his cake, almost without tasting it he eats so fast.
Plus you make the rest of us look bad. Not that we need a lot of help, but still...
Iechine wrote: Hmm Ive got nothing for this month. Not to say I wont have something come through, but Space Marines are genuinely my least favorite faction and I dont keep a stock of their stuff around.
Yeah, before I started my charity project, I had one space marine, and he was already painted by the previous owner. They are up there with Cadians for least favourite thing to paint for me.
I have Stormwall's little tribe in my to-do pile, and that's it's for marines in my life.
Option 1: A landspeeder I received in a bits-box-collection from eBay. He was "shot" several times and seemed to count as an objective marker (?). I got something on my mind for this one.
Option 2: An objective marker for my local GW store, which I promissed the to the storemanager after winning the Armies on Parade-event last week ...
I´m going to do both this month so I ll decide which one will be posted at the end.
I KNOW I have a squad of Space Wolves hiding somewhere, from when I started my interest in 40k. Should I...? But there's sooo much other painting do to it's just scary.

I vote for option 2; that Space Marine looks interesting.
Damn, Para, slow down will ya? The comp's only a day old and you're done already? Sheesh, I guess I'd better throw up a proof then:
This is my devastator squad, with two Gravcannons and two Lascannons, plus a sarge with a humble bolter. I tell you what, that devastator squad kit is one of the best in all of 40k. Loads of useful bits left over, and all the options are included!
Januine wrote: Para finished already???? you.are.not.normal.!!!!! lovely work there thoug. Good to see more Sallies with a non luminescent paintjob. me likee!!
Anyone have the codeybit for the this months monthly challenge banner thingy??
I'm in. What I'm in with though is still up in the air. I'm tempted to stick to type and paint these Lootas (and their ammo grot, screw you rules!) who clearly are rather more fond of Astartes weapons than anything my Mek has to offer:
I'm also terrifyingly close to triple-jumping out of my comfort zone and starting either my Space Hulk terminators or a generic Ultramarines terminator captain....
I'm still undecided. Thoughts, anyone?
PS Am I the only one here who is really fond of how models look when you undercoat them black with a zenithal white spray? I almost don't want to paint them at all!
Well there was a month when someone was gonna do zombie hordes, so the suggestion was just to force focus the camera to allow five to be central but give an idea of lots.
I'm sorely tempted to join in, but I'm in enough bother this month without creating something to do.
Hrm. I can't reasonably enter a squad, since the chance of me getting that many from started to finished while doing the monthly tale of gamers army challenges is slim to none, but I can probably dig out a couple of individuals and do some kind of either/or.
Kustomer D wrote: Just found another Landspeeder in a box I forgot about. I would like to enter this one as well, cuz I nearly finished the first one allready

wait till you see how I fly that one It's a little bit out of my comfortzone but that's exactly what this is about, I think.
KINGPIN54 wrote: How can you guys not know that you have models like that "laying" around? Looking good kb
My wife moved into our new house while I was "on the road" for several month last year.
So as soon as I knew we would leave our flat, I started to put my stuff into boxes but when I left, my wife
had to change some big boxes into smaller ones - so she put some of my 40k stuff into some new boxes
and didn't mark em. That's why I still feel like christmas sometimes - opening a box and find an Imperial
Knight is pretty christmaslike
KINGPIN54 wrote: How can you guys not know that you have models like that "laying" around? Looking good kb
Quite easily when your model count is in the thousands...
Every time I look through an old box I find some gem I'd forgotten about, commit to painting it, then forget about it all over again.
I'm the same, really I have far to much. I have a set of draws in the garage with I've pretty much filled with stuff, occasionally I'll be going through it and find a box of say poorly painted models from a joblot ebay buy which one day I hope to strip and return to some sort of glory. The other week I found a box of 6 deffkoptas I has completely forgotten about (and also don't remember ever buying but there you go)
Damn Para finished already, our making us look bad here, I've averaged about 2 models a month for the last 6 months >_<
I'm still trying to work my entry out, hoping to combine Orks and Space Marines in one glorious model, but don't want to be lazy and just stick an Ork head on a SM body, that feels like cheating, I'll post proof when I've figured it out.
I found out my brushes are too big for detail work. so ive got to pick some up at michaels. I did get the first color on the shoulders, robes, and all the metal parts of the guns, hammer, and the robe.
all in all im pretty happy with them, for my first attempt. should be alot neater with the smaller brushes.

You're off to a good start - One thing I can recommend, that you can do even with bigger brushes, is to get some washes going on the models. That will give them a much bigger level of definition and really make them shine. IN your case I would recommend Aggrax Earthshade from Games Workshop, if you want 1 wash that can be used with all of your colors.
And, just to paint something not in power armour, I'm going with this guy:
Spoiler:
The Exrah Void Operator. A bug related to cthulhu. Who is his insectoid's race equivalent to a space marine, basically engaging in close range assaults during void operations and pulling off high risk boarding actions.

At first glance he almost looks like a Covenant Elite from the Halo games. Probably less so when he's painted.

This is my Proof, I haven't figured out how I'm going to do this yet but I'll be combining these 2 models in someway shape or form to make a Grot Space Marine, mostly using a Dremel I suspect.
This is my first time coming to this Painting Challenge
As part of my ongoing efforts to create the best legion out there (Imperial Fists!), I shall paint the mighty, one and only, First Captain of the Imperial Fists: Sigismund!
Here's a WIP of my Devastators. They're kind of messy, but the major base colors are all there.
Lots more work to be done on these guys, but I'm making progress. Also, would it be okay if I painted up the little Armorium Cherub and entered it with these guys? I know that would make 6 models, but he's really tiny and kind of decorative rather than being a 6th member of the squad.
This is the first time I've entered, but happy to give it a go! Might be a bit pushed to get these finished, but maybe this is just the motivation I need to get cracking!

Pretty late to this but, why not both?
Use the objective marker as the base for the flight stand.
Well my forgeworld order finally came in. So I can do 5 legion tactical marines (normal) 5 legion tactical marines (vexilla and sgt), Kaedes Nex or Alvarex Maun.
Ustrello wrote: Well my forgeworld order finally came in. So I can do 5 legion tactical marines (normal) 5 legion tactical marines (vexilla and sgt), Kaedes Nex or Alvarex Maun.
What do you all think?
Kaedes, only because he's quite possibly the coolest sounding character in the XIX, and I really want to see him done justice (which being you will be done)
Marines base coated starting to work on chests so I can fit their weapons.
Sergeant nearly done. I was so pleased with the clean look I got on him, then I decided to battle damage him; I think I went a little too far. Have I done too much?
I guess I can always say they just survived an exploded rhino.. The loin cloth is immaculate though. Anyone any tips on how to make it look a little less clean? Marines are quite new to me (or really old I guess, its been over 20 years since I last painted one).
using the sofa in my painting room as backdrop, the colour reproduction is a little more accurate here.
@BC: Can I ask that you only enter 5 bases (one base=1 'mini' is my general rule for small scale stuff)
@Moolet: Looking fantastic! These weathered BA you're doing are very close to being the kick up the backside I need to revisit my own (again... this time will be the 3rd redux! )
@xSoulgrinderx: I don't mean to be an arse about it, but I'm hesitant to allow that simply as the theme is Space Marines, and as far as I can tell, that's in no way related. I'm open to more than just actual astartes (as you can see from the various other games' naval military units, ie Marines in Space, that have been entered), but unless there's something I'm missing, your entry just doesn't seem related enough to be permitted... Hope that's not a problem, feel free to enter something else.
Ah never mind then. Forget that proof.
I was going for a rainbow of tiny squads or a long strip of 20 single tiny marines. Popping them all on 5 bases wouldn't really work for that idea.
Buttery Commissar wrote: Ah never mind then. Forget that proof.

You know what? It's not like you're going to get a massive advantage by doing a load of small minis, and as kb said, they'd technically fit on 5 bases anyway! The rules are in place to stop people getting ahead by entering a whole load of models and to keep things focused, not to stamp on creativity. Go for it!

I owe you one!
What I wanted to do originally was make a tiny version of that old poster with the legions on it. It'd probably fit on a credit card.

Oh.... in which case I submit my Iron hands legion Fellglaive. I had a spoiler up with the first set of Assassin pics. proof is the black primer. Its been that way for a year now. Never received the paint it deserves If it counts the Fellglaive and Stormlord were done in the same day.
SWEET! Someone else did the running pose and its not just me! I think it looks awesome. Ill get a pic of mine up tonight. Its not done yet. but its posed nicely

You could always use the rectangular epic bases you'd only need 4 bases that way.

The 2 Landspeeders were real fun to "kustomize" and paint.
They might not be the highest of the highest affordable, but I wanted to do something "unusual" compared to my usual work.
Due to the 5-pics-only rule, I´m working on a threat, where you can check out some of the details I couldn´t include in here.
Ok, so as Kustomer D finishes , I finally stop lurking in the shadows and submit my proof:
That's Barachiel's termie squad from Dark Vengeance which happened to board The Bringer of Sorrow to fight the Genestealer menace on that Space Hulk (see GW Space Hulk DA supplement if you are completely lost ). And along with them is the Space Hulk Broodlord. I'll enter up to 5 of them.
And spurred on by everyone's supportive comments here is my progress on the Broodlord today (which I have been terrified to paint especially after Januine's and Paradigm's excellent jobs):
For reasons I'll never fully fathom, I decided to leave the shield until last, and now I'm dreading it. I think a week's procrastination is in order (Stompa scratchbuild, here I come)!
So I just joined the forums yesterday and I havent painted since I was 13. but heck, I might join in for this :S
Gonna post up my proff picture when I get home from work
Falienia wrote: So I just joined the forums yesterday and I havent painted since I was 13. but heck, I might join in for this :S

I was pretty similar, unfortunately I'd already started a marine before I found this thread! So it'll have to be the next one that enters!
Sweet, might bring in some new people? Hello new people!
Proofs for this month:
And work in progress, because I need to get them finished(ish) for a game next weekend! Note I'd already done a fair bit on the Praetor, so he's not in the competition, but I'm going to be finishing him with the others, so he will be photo-bombing the group
don't think i did a proof pic, but these are what im working on (will be 5 of whole of course) - excuse messy desk working on a lot of stuff at same time. And blurry pic... playing with manual focus on my camera
So I went on a 5 hour painting mission and ended up with this:
That was great fun
He's 90% done, there's a new base to come, BFTBG spray Matt varnish and then brush gloss varnish for the claws, but that's it. So best get back to the Deathwing seeing as how that is the theme of this month!!!

Yup =/ they look like awesome figures tbh, some I'd love to paint as well. Keep resisting though (for now lol)
TP^DC Deputy Manager wrote: Urgh! I've heard you need lots of brain power to build infinity figures I've got loads of backlog to get through, but may look at them at some point.
They are harder especially the old ones. Anything from the last year or so is much bette though. It requires about a 10th of the models though so there's that!
If you played 40k back with metal models it's not an issue.
Of course, you really need a lot of brains to play the game anyway. Soooo many layers and angles!
Nothing basically, it was in the bottom of a bulk lot that i got for about 150. Also had a box of SoB in there and some other stuff that covered the price completely.
KB - that DW is looking sweet. Really nice work. Keep looking at some of those 54's over on ebay and thinking about picking a few up. They had some really gorgeous figs in that range
Welp, I didn't know if I would have time to put out a quality piece, but turns out, I do! It is now an all out assault on the enemies of man. Glory be to the Adeptus Astartes.

If you are very desperate, you can use a cardboard box and dustmask (the ones that look like doctor's masks) and rubber gloves. The masks and gloves you can get from pharmacies, and unless your smoke alarm is severely oversensitive you should be fine. Just open the window wide and you'll be fine.

Oh? Thats desperation? Thats just kind of my standard way of priming 0.o What would be the proper method? Spray booth with ventilation and epic lighting?

HAha, that's what I've been doing since I arrived at university, before that I sprayed out the back of my parent's house. You're suposed to do it in well ventilated areas, not a 6ft by 6ft bedroom.

Take my advice; don't do this. I primed indoors one time and my whole apartment smelled like spraypaint for several days.

My techpriestess took a tumble off my work table, hit the air compressor and shattered all the little tech pieces...but her stuff back on best I could but the taser piece could not be found, so...I had to improvise...she now has a mini chainsaw...on her breastplate...arm...thingies....anyways base coated...not done yet. Debating on free-handing some flames for the Ork door.
Finally, my entry is done! The bases have dried over night and the last blood effects are about there. They are... quite gory, what with mutated limbs etc.
- Airbrush Vallejo Air "Sick green" on the area where the flame is. This is also the "hue" color on where you want the OSL to happen, such as the side of the face etc.
- Airbrush Vallejo Air "Moon Yellow" lightly on the middle of the flame, to give it some more brightness.
- Wash the flame itself (not the surrounding areas) with GWs "Biel-Tan green" wash
- Lastly drybrush the washed area with GWs "Yriel Yellow".
Et voíla! Ironically they are mostly yellow instead of green - But that's what gives it such a cool and eerie effect
The last major thing to do is the cape. I painted him in two halves, but wanted to glue him together before I did the cape so the folds on the shoulders matched. That and the base and I should be done. Plus all the random touch ups I notice.
Bit scared here, you all are a bit good, well out of my league, but hey got to have a go.
The work here is amazing, can see this is going to be tough.
OK so it doesn't have to be a legal model right?
Well I fancy the idea of messing about with Space Hulk. and I have been making a board in the background, I know there are some great models out there, but I have my own ideas of what should be going on so here we go...
A terminator properly scaled and kitted out for close quarter fighting in dark and dingy corridors of hell. But all I got is some AOB models....
Thats not what I want.....lets sort that out right now.....
My gods its a massacre!
Well here we go, trying to make it short and sweet, the aim is eventually to have a squad, but it will be different, more like the best of the best sent in to clear out the xeno scum, so will not be the traditional squad of termies, but instead a mix match of guys. Probably upsetting a bunch of people with the very idea of it. For now, I will be doing one Termie for the comp, depends on how I get on I might do more.
I find Deathwing colour a sort of Marmite situation. Everyone has different views on what colour they should be. There's details of paint usage over on my blog if anyone interested.
Wow, so many entrants this month, and to such a high quality again.
My entry this month is the first few marines of my BA army. I've painted a full tactical squad with hand flamer/flamer/heavy flamer which I'll likely load up in a rhino (yeah I know not exactly super competitive). These are my first marines for 20 years so they were a bit of an experiment trying to scale down the scheme I worked out on my dreadnaught last month.
It kind of worked and it kind of didn't. I like the overall look but it was so time consuming taking me over twice as long as I originally anticipated. I think towards the end I rushed a bit through impatience and I'll go back to them at some point and give them some more love, (the base rims need redoing for a start). I've got to get some more ork boyz painted ready for an upcoming battle! I don't like to play with my miniatures unpainted so I think it will be the middle of summer before I get a game with these tactical marines.
Here they are on a piece of scenery themed to my gaming board, (i.e. bases match the ground).
Anyhow that isn't my entry pic as its illegal but I wanted to show them in their natural environment first... =)

Thanks, I spend 1.5-2 hours nearly every evening painting. Its my treat to myself at the end of a day of work looking after wife and son.

Thanks, very kind of you. I find after I spend a whole week looking at a model and knowing every single detail and imperfection I find it hard to stand back and make an impartial judgement. It really makes me happy to hear what others think, (even if its negative!) =)
Since I've been painting BA's in the last few challenges its interesting to see how both Jan and Moot are doing yours, I might have to add a few bits of chipping to my own in the future
My guy has been staring at me for the last week, hopefully get some paint on him this weekend now I've dremeled him to death.
No progress pics from me since I am work. But I am pretty much done, just gotta finish the weathering powder on the marines, the transfers and the last step on the bases and I am done.
So bunch of shots, before I break him down to paint.....So you can see parts etc...
This is definately not the final cut, but a fiddle in that general direction, couple bits I am not sure on, and I have to add a ammo belt feed from his hip mounted ammo pack to the storm bolter. Was going for a bulkier upper look whilst maintaining the idea of nothing sticking up too high to catch on overhead cables and pipes in those tight quarters.
Final crappy ipad WiP photo before I get this fella finally done this evening. Just the jewels, some chipping/weathering and the 'stealer to put the finishing touches too ad Brother Goriel is finito. Off to Seoul this morning to pick up some bit'nbobs at the flgs. And try not to go too nuts - lol
what the hell, i'm in...
we'll see if i can get this awesome Iron Warriors character done in time...
here's the proof pic:
plus a couple of shots of the base build...
i think that the angle i cut the cork at will really help emphasize the lean in the pose...
the idea will be to take the opportunity, with dominant silver armor, to do some reflective metal, where the reddish soil will be reflected in the undersides of the metal, while the blue of the sky will be reflected in the upper sides of the armor...
we'll see if it works out...
should be a fun experiment, and something different for an Iron Warriors Marine...
good luck to you all this month...
there are some awesome projects going on in the challenge...
I'm having trouble finding motivation to do my DA Devastators. I'm just so drained when I come home from work lately that I don't feel like painting. I'm gonna have to rally big time if I want to finish before the deadline.
Playing games on my computer, and looking at stuff on Dakka. I am working on assembling some Tau stuff, though, including magnetizing a Riptide. I might just get some work in on my Marines tonight before I hit the sack, though.
Next subject poll ideas:
Slash - anything that has a weapon that will leave gouge marks
Stomp - something big that could make a few ground tremors
"Mine's bigger than your's" - something with a big gun
"I'm not sure I'm meant to be here" - mini(s) that don't belong where they are

I'm in favour of the 1st and 3rd, because 2 needs purchase of large models and is quite similar to the size thing last time, and the 4th is more of a diorama than an individual model
The closest thing I have to April Fools is Draigo (who actually released in April 2011 lol) and I'm planning to take a few days to work on him to make him quality. The only things I have with me at university are Betrayal at Calth, a few characters and a few squads, all to add to my armies
So it was a bumpy ride finishing this guy, but I've finished him to a fashion, maybe not as good as he could have been (thanks to all those who have been following my blog and giving constructive C&C). So this is the first (nearly) finished (just needs varnishing) mini for this month's entry:
Alright I finished these guys up yesterday but only got around to editing them today. I think I am calling this one done, barring any large uproar over how bad the pictures could be
It's gonna be down to Paradigm, but usually the proof is meant to be of a model that has had no more than a prime or single base layer on. That's a judgement call from the big man though

Nice work Ustrello, love the skintone as well, extremely fluffy

Great job. Photos are good (are there 2 or more marines?). Skin tones are good, great to see the fluff being followed in to the paint scheme.
The raven guard looks great. I'm dreading/looking forward to doing my death company as every venture I have into doing black looks either over or under done on the highlights.
Also the deathwing termie looks awesome, very cinematic. =)
omg love all the submissions so far!
just going to drop another wip, i fixed the ponytail (it was missing) and primed the sword so they are not attached yet

Thanks! It always annoyed me when gw painted them a ruddy face tone and so I decided to go fluffy with them when I restarted the army

There are 5 in total, it just happened that the 5 best pictures I chose were of the same 2 or 3 models

I have finished my blood angels Predator tank. I chose to leave it without a gunner (really because I somehow lost the mini). Note the chipping, blued steel on the barrel, subtle streaking, OSL headlights, and various add-ons. This piece flew together fast, I really surprised myself. I hope you guys enjoy!
Finally started my first Space Marine / mini ever!
Made a few changes as you can probably see:
- changed one arm angle so both arms are almost stretched forward, because I wanted to have him shooting both guns forward
- changed one shoulder angle so both guns are pointing in the same direction
- changed one leg angle so he has a better leaping pose
I'm not sure yet what he's going for: either fighting his way up onto a pile of debris or leaping towards some large enemy while shooting.
I'm new at this, so any tips, ideas and suggestions are welcome!
LMK!!!!

Awesome concept! But stick a boulder under his raised leg. Or a corpse. Or a pile of skulls. Get paint on him quick so we can all enjoy the finished article!
Alright so I have decided to switch my entry from the 5 legion tactical marines back to something more unique and cool. So I present the Blood Crow and Moritat prime Kaedes Nex
OP updated now (sorry for the laxity, been super-busy this last week or so), think I've got everything, let me know if I missed you. Fantastic work in the last couple of pages too!
Will get the next poll sorted later. A few good ideas have been suggested, got some others in mind as well.
Cheers, fella. Yeah, it should be fixable, if not I'll grab another pad, it'll just be time consuming to do all the layers again. Getting white to a point where it actually looks good is one of the least fun aspects of my DIY scheme.
Finally got back to painting my guys. I've finished basecoating them, so I'll shade them either tonight before I go to sleep or tomorrow morning before work. Here's a pic of where they're at right now:
