Most of the those units have at least had concept art shown off.
Gotta get with the times Barzam!
I forgot to update my pledge. Dammit. Was going to go in for Golgog and his freebie monster but was busy at work. Recess hit, I get on the computer, and see things have funded already.
Guess I'll be piecemeal adding to my pledge over the next year!
You could email them and see if they'll still let you up now, they seem to be fairly relaxed about that sort of thing this short after a campaign, usually
Oh man...those are some great looking skellies! Liking the look of the nice big square pegs for the joints as well...hopefully that will make them slightly more palatable to assemble compared to my Ax-Drunes (for whom I ended up having to pin every fracking joint). They're to be my girlfriend's first real miniatures army, so I'm reeeeally hoping that the modelling experience won't be so frustrating as to turn her off the hobby (though I suppose worst case scenario I'll just have to do all the pinning myself to get her on her way...).
...or...actually I suppose worst-case-scenario is that I get myself a free Jute army
Is there any update on when the rulebook is expected to ship?
Is there any update on when the rulebook is expected to ship?
From what I can tell, it's at the printers! They're being closed lipped to avoid promising things before they are sure. However long it takes to print all copies, I don't know. But hopefully we'll see the first proofs soon.
Cúgacx (pronounced Coo-gaz) are ferocious wolverine like creatures the Fomoraic use both for hunting, as mounts for their Lords and generally being nasty on the battlefield.
The head looks totally off on the sculpt from the concept. Its more a bear/wolf head there. The snout is longer, teeth/claws are huge, and neck is way thicker. Maybe it looks better from another angle, but I'm fairly disappointed on the execution.
Fun fact, wolverines are a member of the mustelid family, along with weasels, badgers and otters, and modern wolverines are not large enough to be used as mounts.
While I agree there is a difference in the sculpt and the art, I much more prefer the actual sculpt to the art. The art looked too cute and not mean like I imagine a wolverine. I am happy
Got a big package from Mierce today from the mailman - as I was leaving to go do work. I'm excited because this should close out 2 kickstarters for me from them.
I feel like that art that they showed for the regular Cugax was pulled from this drawing of Iruaada riding one. It's pose seems much less awkward in this picture.
I think the sculpt is far better as well, can't wait to add him to my 499 gold Formoraic host!

Jutes?!
No. This was part 2 of 3 of my Monsterous Mounts, the Infernii demon infantry starter minus Armored Scecchus and Velchior, and my Mighty Monster pledge (Krull!).
I really only put in for about 4 shipping waves for the earlier kickstarters. I don't mind getting the stuff this late - I don't have too much time to paint (engineering student), and most of my summer job money goes to textbooks, so I tend to be a bit of a penny pincher where I can be.
I just need to do the miscast checks. I'm a little disappointed that both the torso and legs of Krull had some air bubbles and mold slips. Going to try and see if Mierce will replace them or not.
Grabbed the Fomoraic miscast grab baggie, looking forward to seeing what kinds of cool stuff I get in that. I am hoping it's stuff that with a bit of skill I can rework to make cool alternate Mierce miniatures. I was just wondering the other day when they might have some more of these available, and bingo, here they are!
Has there been any work on when the Angelcynn and Erainn metal hosts are going to be shipped? I vaguely remember them targeting February, but I haven't been on top of things lately.
I've not heard anything about them yet. We have seen the Jutes in metal though in the post at the top of this page, not that that helps you much but there is progress.
Wehrkind wrote: Has there been any work on when the Angelcynn and Erainn metal hosts are going to be shipped? I vaguely remember them targeting February, but I haven't been on top of things lately.
Duguth are currently being sent out. Gesith will probably be a while as they're waiting on the two alternative warriors now that the Æthlyglyth resculpt is done.
From what I can infer, they've just got metal Erainn samples back (along with the Jutes), so a send out should be imminent, probably within the next month I reckon depending on how far down the queue you are.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Noticed this little titbit hasn't been posted:
Tim Fisher: Atalantes sighted!
Jute-like levels of excitement here at Mierce HQ - not kidding.
Zedmeister:
Oplites? Or Mesokolossos? Or something else?
Tim Fisher
@Zed that's Mesaikolossal tease to you! :0P
Zedmeister
Ooo, a Roberto shaped tease. Assume he's still booked to doing them...
Tim Fisher
Roberto has feathers and humpbacks to sculpt at the mo. These are from a new guy to the Mierce stable.
Wehrkind wrote: Has there been any work on when the Angelcynn and Erainn metal hosts are going to be shipped? I vaguely remember them targeting February, but I haven't been on top of things lately.
Guy in my area got his Angelcynn recently in the mail. Unfortunately they'd been shipped without packing material so everything in the box was totally fethed. Apparently Mierce is replacing it all for him at least.
I was told early March for my Jutes/Ysians when last I was emailing with them.
Thanks for the info Zed et al.! Good to know something is happening with them, and I am just waiting for everything to finish up instead of something going down badly.
Wehrkind wrote: Has there been any work on when the Angelcynn and Erainn metal hosts are going to be shipped? I vaguely remember them targeting February, but I haven't been on top of things lately.
The post got buried under all the stuff for the new KS, but I got the Angelcynn duguth host about a month ago. Still waiting on my metal Erainn host.
It's a fine day for an update, so why don't we give you one?
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress images from Yannick Hennebo, Martin Lavat and Stéphane Simon;
•a list of what miniatures are currently being sent in their various waves;
• an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
As this project is almost complete, there won't be many miniatures to show from here on in. Today is probably the last time we will have a large amount of miniatures to show, too - so enjoy!
After a little break from the Demilegionarii Yannick Hennebo has begun work on the penultimate warrior from the unit...
A warrior from the In III Judas unit, Duilius looks like a nasty piece of work indeed...
We are very much hoping that this guy and the last remaining warrior from the unit will be with us for Wave 11.
Martin Lavat - having finished the Nithings - has now turned his attention to the Flesh-Pile, the last remaining miniature from the Flesh-Scavengers.
The Flesh-Pile known as Ekk's Heap has been sculpted, and looks brilliant!
That means the Flesh-Scavengers will be a Wave 11 shipment!
Stéphane Simon is cracking on with the last remaining Shadow-Drune from the Shadows of Carn Bran...
Cador is the champion, and is definitely getting there...
We are hoping these guys will be a Wave 11 shipment of course.
Atalantes! New sculptors as well - Jin Vi and Duncan Louca
Of Bronze, Fur and Scales
It's Mierceday, Miercenaries - and it's a cracker today, because we have our first sighting of the Atalantes...!
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Benoît Cosse, Didier Fancagne, Duncan Louca and Jin Vi!
•an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let us begin!
This week we see the first Atalantes since Talos, sculpted by two newcomers to our range - Duncan Louca and Jin Vi; then there's a completed alternate and a new sculpt from Benoît Cosse, for the Khthones and Fomoraic respectively; and Didier Fancagne gives us some Érainn!
Jin Vi has begun work on the Atalantes and he has stated with Kyros, a Strategos. I think it's safe to say this guy is going to be fantastic...
He should definitely be a Wave 11 shipment, 3D printers willing!
The alternate version of Kyros is Helmed Kyros - and what a helmet! Note, Helmed Kyros shows the corrected strap for the shield.
Again, he should be a Wave 11 shipment.
It's been a long time coming - but the wait for The Burning Ones has been worth it. Duncan Louca, a newcomer to Mierce Miniatures, has begun work...
Bion is a warrior from the Mesokolossos unit, and there's no images: just a video. Just make sure you guys are sitting down properly when you view it...
Wave 11 is hopeful for The Burning Ones, but we'll see!
Didier Fancagne has cracked on with the Beasts of Síleann Fen and it won't be long before they're done!
The last remaining warrior from the unit is Cru Creach, the champion...
These guys should be a Wave 11 shipment!
Here at Mierce Towers we know what we can expect from sculptors, most of the time anyway. When Taai-ac popped into our inbox, however, we were utterly blown away because Benoît Cosse has sculpted an absolute masterpiece! Taai-ac may only be a Cúgacx - a giant wolverine, basically - but he's a superb miniature!
Taai-ac will be a Wave 11 shipment!
We forgot that Aggrakk, the mighty Krokokh of the Khthones, as sculpted by Benoît Cosse, was not quite complete last time as he had a necklace of heads (which is nice). So here he is, complete!
OrlandotheTechnicoloured wrote: Jin Vi (the sculptor on Kyros) has done stuff for Malifaux and Kingdom Death so he will know what will work at this scale
so I thinjk it should be ok (sigh, the only kindred I'm not collecting has to look this good?)
Well, that's good to know, but aren't KD and Malifaux slightly larger scale? KD is nearer to 36mm IIRC.
It is just the detail on the face that I'm a little worried about.
Edit: Compare the face on the KD Messenger of Humanity to the actual sculpt! I own it, it's a lovely figure (guts!), but those details may be a little too fine.
It's been a while in coming (again) but we've got our first Friday update for BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters Part Deux in 2016! We do update our projects regularly, but have not had the opportunity to do so here simply because the sculptors we've booked have been very, very busy.
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Martin Lavat;
•an idea of what will ship, and when;
•a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
With Tim Prow busy on the Orcs from BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters Part Un, we gave the various Demon Princes to Martin Lavat, who is fast becoming our alternate specialist... he's done all four of them!
The Demon Prince of Pleasure, a conversion of the Darklands miniature Malacant, is all about whips and that.
He'll be a Wave 11 shipment...
He loves war, does the Demon Prince of War... he comes in two flavours, too, double-axe madness or axe and shield!
He'll be a Wave 11 shipment...
The Demon Prince of Plague. He probably smells a bit.
He'll be a Wave 11 shipment...
The Phoenix Demon Prince is a lovely fella, so we're told...
...and he'll be a Wave 11 shipment!
Wave 11
As Martin has completed these four guys, we'll definitely be shipping them in Wave 11, which is April 2016. It may well be that Martin - or Tim Prow - can get the other miniatures from this project sorted by then too, so watch this space!
Oh well, at least I won't feel tempted to buy Atalantes. They're lovely models sure, but they're far too skinny and spindly, was expecting a stockier build based on the concept I saw.
With metal production cracking on, it's time for an update and some shots of sample metals...
This week we have:
•images of the metal Érainn Tuanagh, Fomoraic Gabrax and Jute Wihtgār infantry hosts;
•an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•a list of what ships, when;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Here we go...
This week we have three amazing metal infantry hosts to show you, for the Érainn, Fomoraic and Jutes!
Samples of the lovely Érainn Tuanagh Infantry Starter Host have arrived, and they are looking great!
These guys have gone back to the metal casters and will be in production very shortly. We are expecting to ship them in March.
The samples of the Fomoraic Gabrax Infantry Starter Host are looking awesome. Look at those Tarvax!
Here's the 750 gold upgrade, too, with the Tarvax command...
These guys have gone back to the metal casters and will be in production very shortly. We are expecting to ship them in March.
...and so we come to the Jutes. Words cannot describe how happy we are about these guys in metal, so we'll just show you some pictures of the Jute Wihtgār Infantry Starter Host.
The 750 gold upgrade is done, too, containing the last two Drēaguth...
Again, these guys have gone back to the metal casters and will be in production very shortly. We are expecting to ship them in March.
Looking forward to what gets shown for mierce day today! The sculptors have really been chugging along nicely as of late.
Hmmm my order still says "Processing" but I think I did pick the option to just ship everything together, so that's probably the deal. Thanks for the heads up man!
*waiting intensifies*
Alpharius wrote: Has there been any mention in any of the various campaigns' comments sections if the Rulebook printing is still on schedule and shipping in March?
I was hoping we would get an update email when its ready, so those who haven't picked one up can do so in time for the first batch.
Just got my shipping notice for the rest of the metal minis I ordered. Ysian axedrunes and the bow drunes.
Cant wait
Automatically Appended Next Post: Aaaand stuff arrived today Lovely stuff as usual. The different between the resin and metal version is actually 0.
I don't think there is any reason to pick resin at the moment. My Ysians in metal are perfect and don't break that easily. Resin is great overall, but way too fragile for gaming.
I'm in this for, yes, the awesome miniatures, but also the game - so I'm going metal wherever and whenever possible here.
I'm happy to hear that the metals are coming out so well!
Resin will still be the only choice for those truly monstrous miniatures that Mierce makes though, but those pieces are usually big enough to handle careful...handling during gaming!
I'll be grabbing the Ysian's from this latest kickstarter in metal. As you say, they are essentially the same, but functionally a lot easier to work with on the table. I'll still be keeping my resins to use on the tabletop though.
All kidding aside, when it does ship, do we know if it will be shipping separately from any miniatures?
This figures to be a BIG and HEAVY Hardcover tome, so if it is in the same box as some resin (and even some metal!) miniatures, there could be problems...
@Alpharius - The rulebook is at the printers. I'm expecting delivery end of March/early April. I'm saying nothing more about it until those books land at Mierce Towers. You guys will be the first to know when they do arrive.
As for shipping it, rulebooks will ship separately (i.e., not with miniatures).
Got my bag of Formoraic miscasts... It's huge! I got an absolute ton of stuff!
Thus far I have had a look and it contains (click only if you want a massive wall of text);
Spoiler:
Two Aanchuth bodies, one holding his staff (top part past hand is broken off), other missing this arm and has a miscast neck, both good for conversions. Found the spare Sronax head I thought I had got as a random bit was actually for the back of this miniature, so it's good to keep for one of them, and also includes the hand (the sword has snapped off though, which is fine as a weapon swap will be easy. The more complete version will be used to make an alternate Aanchuth, with a different headpiece for the staff (or perhaps the Tundaar banner from below, to make him into a standard bearer), and hand holding a weapon swap. I'll use another head from someplace or order it in as a single bit. The one with the missing neck and arm will likely be converted. Perhaps to a mounted miniature.
One Brunchaath on foot, miscast bubbles on weapon blade, and weapon blade part has snapped away from the shaft, head and body fine - Good for extra parts or to make my own version of armoured Brunchaath. Also, a spare set of arms with weapon, with a large bubble miscast in one arm. Can be greenstuffed.
Brunchaath's Gooracx x 2 - One which is pretty much complete, except has a large bubble in one testicle (ouch!), the other is missing its lower leg portions (not enough resin cast into the mold). Both will be useful, as the bubble can be easily filled, and I like the legless one as it has spikes on its head armour which are fully formed, but not completely cast on the full version I bought, so I will swap these ones out. Also the head, arm and horns part for the mounted miniature, with a miscast on the horns for the Gooracx (missing a section due to an air bubble).
Chaagmuth's Toracx main body part. No idea what the miscast is, nothing stands out. Great as I really like him on a Toracx, but not the foot version. No front legs for this miniature, but still great, as I can convert it to have a rider from the miniature below...
2 x resculpt of the Gabrax horn blower Chuwaa (called Waachu), with an absolutely huge two handed cleaver of some kind. Two near complete sprues, one missing a horn part, other has weapon broken and missing the extra hand, but in both cases really good still. No idea where the miscasts were in all this, but it's still good. Will convert to have one version on foot, one mounted as above.
Five of the snorting Toracx's main bodies, but only two body styles. Two are of the running kind, the other three are the regular standing kind. Neither are Báintaac. Miscasts seems to be the spikes growing out of them, which is fine as I don't like them anyway. Will probably file them down and sculpt over. Could be used for mounts for miniatures, or as some kind of Ram/Ox if I use a different style head, and use them as a Kings of War Herd Stampede unit.
Kraan's body (on foot), two shields as well and bear armoured piece, both shields badly miscast, missing large chunks, armoured piece ok, but spike not fully formed. Will use armoured bit somewhere and shields as base debris. Also both arms with shoulder armour (and a second left arm/shoulder), both with miscast spikes. Should be able to get a whole miniature out of this with a bit of work.
Kraan's bear's head, neck, arm and armoured piece and another furry bit, no idea. No real bubbles I can see, some mold slip maybe? Also the added horn parts that are put on either side, but one is miscast and not complete. Will be useful in doing a mod for a Shieldwolf bear I think. Also the spiked armoured parts, can't see many problems with these bits. Again useful for conversions.
Also two Kraan banners from the bear model. One is snapped on one of the arms and is missing the headpiece, the other has a miscast on one of the skulls. Good for conversion pieces.
Two Garwaag sprue bits, with two tusks on each, one with an elephant trunk. Not sure what the miscast is out of of this but whatever. Can always use more horns!
Lower jaw/neck and two horns of Galagaak. Not sure what the miscast is, but still cool. Will find a use for it somewhere.
Two Tundaar banners - One with pole part missing below cloth fold, other with it intact. Both have small bubbles on back. Easy to convert. Also think I have the arms and horns bit for this, the miscast being the spikes on the shoulders not being formed correctly.
One Daarkan body, only thing miscast is yet again the shoulder spikes. These must give Mierce massive headaches. Otherwise fine. No rest of the bits, so I'll need to convert the rest. Probably from the Tundaar bits I have received.
Warriors of Baalor - Two Aanan sprues with bodies, shield and on each sprue a different arm, so a win overall. Can't really see where the mold problems are, but will take a deeper look later. Also have the axe for this miniature, but with a ton of flash on it. So after some trimming I have a complete dude, yay!
Also from the Warriors of Baalor, three Lungaarns, with various arm bits, missing axe, but still have horn pieces. Should be enough to make one whole miniature, if I sub in a weapon from someplace else. I think the casting defects must be bubbles in parts, but it's good enough to make one whole mini. \
Warriors of Baalor Coraat as well, with axe, but I can't make out what the miscast is. Perhaps a bubble someplace I can't see? It's hard to make out. In any case, another free mini essentially
Warriors of Baalor Paara - No bubbles, but a huge sheet of flashing on this one. Should be able to cut it away to salvage. No head, but I have spares from other miniatures, so should be fine.
One Idruaada body (no sword hand or staff), miscast on bottom of cloak between legs, otherwise fine. Another good conversion opportunity.
Uuthull's Anchor, mold slippage on hands, should be easy to fix.
Random bits - Some Warriors of Baalor arms with shoulder pieces, Belech's taill, and what looks to be an Anglecynn body of some kind which seems to have snuck it's way into here. Probably to be used for base decoration as Rob has recommended (cheers Rob!).
Over all I am exceptionally happy with what I have received. Very very cool stuff, and it's what I could have hoped for and more. No large monsters but that's fine as I really wasn't looking for those. All of this stuff will work really well in the things I have planned. And for the price I paid, it's an absolute steal. Very very happy.
Also received my very own Brunchaath order which is awesome as I love this miniature. No idea what I am going to do with the other two spare Gooracx bodies, but I will think of something
Mierceday! First Edition: 2 is almost complete. 3 sculpts left to do...
Drunes and Demons
It's Mierceday, Miercenaries, so it's time for an update on what we here at Mierce have been up to!
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress images from Yannick Hennebo and Stéphane Simon;
•a list of what miniatures are currently being sent in their various waves;
• an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
As this project is almost complete, there won't be many miniatures to show from here on in. Today is probably the last time we will have a large amount of miniatures to show, too - so enjoy!
Yannick Hennebo has completed Duilius and also begun work on the last warrior from the unit, Terentius...
The awesome Terentius is the final Demilegionarius to be sculpted, and he's all dynamism and nastiness...
He'll be a Wave 11...
We wouldn't want to meet Duilius on a dark night...
...which is good, because they're delivered in the morning by your postman as part of your Wave 11 shipment!
Huzzah! Another one bites the dust, because Stéphane Simon has completed the last remaining Shadow-Drune from the Shadows of Carn Bran...
The champion of the unit, Cador, is also the last man standing... and he's complete!
That does of course mean that these guys will be a Wave 11 shipment!
note the videos won't copy across so you'll need to go to KS to see them
Update #85 Mar 11 2016
Kolossi, Rhinos and Ravens
It's Mierceday, Miercenaries - and this update is chock-full of Atalantes!
This week we have: •sculpt work in progress updates from Allan Carrasco, Roberto Chaudon, Duncan Louca and Jin Wei; •an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project; •...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let us begin!
Just like last week, we have tons for you! We have more Atalantes, sculpted by Duncan Louca and Jin Wei; a cracking Fomoraic monstrosity by Allan Carrasco; and something for the Norse by Roberto Chaudon!
Fresh from the super-stunning Kyros, Jin Wei surges forward with Nikandros, the snake-hunter... note, the base is not included, that's just Jin's exuberance!
Nikandros should, hopefully, be a Wave 11 shipment.
The Atalantes gain themselves the mighty Titos and Titos Sigma (the second half of the video, and the project exclusive version). Titos is, of course, a huge and powerful Stratekolossos - a Mesokolossos Warchief...
They'll be a Wave 11 shipment!
Duncan Louca has been busy with The Burning Ones - because they're now all done, and utterly superb!
The champion of the unit is Praxis ...
That bronze spear would come a bit keen!
The first warrior in the unit is Xan...
He might be hundreds of years old, but he's still amazingly powerful...
Bion was completed previously of course...
...but let's show him again, for completeness' sake...
The fourth warrior in the unit is Horos...
He's a cracker!
Last but not least, Kreios will happily disembowel you!
The Burning Ones should be a Wave 11 shipment!
Ahhh, Kretos. We had such high hopes for you... and those hopes have been realised. Duncan Louca has produced some stunning work on these Atalantes, and Kretos may well be our favourite of the lot!
He should be a Wave 11 shipment - just a bit of posing to do and he's done!
The mighty Allan Carrasco storms back into our lives with the equally mighty Cqaa, a Srónox of forthcoming destruction if ever there was one...
We're hoping he'll be a Wave 11 shipment, but we'll see!
It's been a while since we've seen anything from Roberto Chaudon (we're blaming La Poste) but he's stormed back into contention with the amazing Egil Dead Hand, a Hrafnmann Jarl for the Norse!
He should definitely be a Wave 11 shipment!

Banebeasts Might Monsters Update #20 Mar 11 2016
Chimera! Chimera!
It's another Friday update for BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters Part Deux in 2016! Hurrah!
This week we have: •sculpt work in progress updates from Martin Lavat; •an idea of what will ship, and when; •a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project; •...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
The speedy Martin Lavat is cracking on with more fantastic conversions...
It's Chimera time! Not satisfied with cool dragon and goat, we went with grim lizard and foul rat - plus a particularly nasty scorpion sting-thing...
We're not sure if he'll be a Wave 11 shipment; it's early days yet, so we'll see...
Wave 11
Wave 11 should begin soon!
We'll keep this list updated every, er, update. • SHIPMENT WAVE 0: (complete): Existing miniatures. • SHIPMENT WAVE 8 (August 2015): Stone Beast / Ettu - Ice Elemental / Skaadi • SHIPMENT WAVE 11 (April 2016): Phoenix Demon - Chimera - Demon Prince of War - Demon Prince of Pleasure - Phoenix Demon Prince - Demon Prince of Plague - Giant - Chaos Giant - Orc Giant
Items in bold will DEFINITELY be sent in that wave as we have the sculpt; items in italics are in progress and should make it into that wave, but we don't yet have the sculpt. Items not in bold or in italics may still make it into that wave, but may not.
As there's still plenty you can purchase from BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters Part Deux, not least of which are the various hosts, we though it would be a good idea to outline exactly how long you've got to purchase everything. • Wave 11: items from Wave 11 will be removed from the website at the end of March. • Individual Miniatures: until they ship!
Keep watching this list as it may well change - and if you have any issues with the above timings, please let us know and we may well be able to push the deadline back a little for you.
Here's the big list of who's sculpting what and when for BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters Part Deux! Please bear in mind that this list may change over time, so don't take it as set in stone until the first work in progress shots appear. • MARTIN LAVAT: Martin's finished the four Demon Princes. Next for him is the Chimera, which is now underway! • TIM PROW: Tim has the Phoenix Demon and Giants to convert...
We're getting there!
We thought this would be a good idea, as things are cracking on - a list of completed sculpts, in kindred order!
Completed sculpts are in bold; in progress sculpts are in italics. • BEASTS: Stone Beast / Ettu - Giant - Chaos Giant - Orc Giant • CHAOS: Ice Elemental / Skaadi - Phoenix Demon - Chimera - Demon Prince of War - Demon Prince of Pleasure - Phoenix Demon Prince - Demon Prince of Plague
Crikey. Here's another update for Darklands: Savage Hordes. What is the world coming to?
This week we have: •sculpt work in progress updates from Michael Anderson, Yannick Fusier and Edgar Skomorowski; •an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project; •a list of what ships, when; •...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Here we go...
We've yet more of Gaalgar's Herd to show, and of course those pesky Oghurithne Hunters of the Hunters of Cait have more work done to them as well; but you're all waiting for the Jutes, aren't you? Well, we have the Wihtboga and the Wihtax...
Yannick Fusier really loves doing these Oghurithne, because he's now completed the Hunters of Cait, Oghurithne Hunter unit in double-quick time!
He's been done a while, but it doesn't hurt to remind you of what Ungad, the unit champion, looks like...
He'll be a Wave 12 with the rest!
Agala is the first female Oghurithne we've seen, and she's lovely!
Well, in a miniatures sense...
The last member of the unit, Wrad is looking utterly superb.
There's still a few minor details to sort on the crossbows, but that means the Oghurithne Hunters will definitely be a Wave 12 shipment, Miercenaries! Rejoice!
Michael Anderson is really nailing these Gul-Gabrax... just look at them!
The champion of the Gul-Gabrax unit, Gaalgar, is really getting there now. We love this guy!
Hopefully he'll be done shortly!
The banner bearer of the unit is called Raagar...
"Raa! Raa!" said Raagar...
The herald of the Gul-Gabrax is Sraangar...
"Toot! Toot!" said Sraangar...
We've seen Culgaar like this before, but let's show him again for completeness' sake...
Just the horn and weapon to do...
A warrior of the unit, is Gongaar...
We still think the unit will be on time to ship as part of Wave 12.
Edgar Skomorowski's work on the Wihtgār has been rather well received, to say the least, so when he agreed to sculpt the next units of Wihts we did quite a few happy dances, here at Mierce Towers. The Wihtaxas were the first...
On with the show...
The champion of the Wihtax unit is Alfweald...
He's a bit grim...
The first warrior is Ealdred...
Another grim-looking fellow...
Cenred looks the part...
These Wihtaxas are superb miniatures!
The fourth warrior is Wasere...
The coolest looking Wihtax of the lot!
The last warrior of the unit is Oscetyl...
...these guys will definitely be a Wave 12 shipment!
The Wihtaxas are, of course, alternates of the Wihtboga miniatures, which are equally superb.
...and he's lost his lower jaw somewhere. If found, return to the pub!
Easily our favourite of the lot, Wassa is a menacing fellow indeed...
...coming to a battlefield near you.
The last member of the Wihtboga unit is Octha....
These guys will definitely be a Wave 12 shipment!
There's not much to say here, except - there's a while to go before the first miniatures are shipped from this project, so keep watching the updates to see what will make it into that first Wave.
Here's an up to date list of what we think will be shipped when. • SHIPMENT WAVE 0: (complete): Existing miniatures • SHIPMENT WAVE 12 (June 2016): Hunters of Cait, Oghurithne Hunter Unit (Ungad - Agala - Wrad) - Gaalgar's Herd, Gul-Gabrax Unit (Gaalgar - Raagar - Sraangar - Culgaar - Gongaar) - The Betrayers of Ceafor Barrow (Alfweald - Ealdred - Cenred - Wasere - Oscetyl) - The Sinners of Chessell Barrow (Ænna - Eglāf - Ceneric - Wassa - Octha)
Items in bold will DEFINITELY be sent in that wave as we have the sculpt; items in italics are in progress and should make it into that wave, but we don't yet have the sculpt. Items not in bold or in italics may still make it into that wave, but may not.
You can still purchase everything from this project until the following deadlines: • Individual Miniatures: until they ship!
Keep watching this list as it may well change - and if you have any issues with the above timings, please let us know and we may well be able to push the deadline back a little for you.
Here's the big list of who's sculpting what and when for Darklands: Savage Hordes! Please bear in mind that this list may change over time, so don't take it as set in stone until the first work in progress shots appear.
New Sculpts: • MICHAEL ANDERSON: Michael has begun sculpting Gaalgar's Herd, starting with Culgaar... and he's almost completed them! • STÉPHANE CAMOSSETO: Stéphane should be sculpting the Freemen of Scīrbrōc, Bowmen of Scīrbrōc and Sigewulf's Pack. • BENOÎT COSSE: The lovely Benoît will be sculpting Chaaruch the Despoiler, No-Claw's Burrow, Gukkok's Blades, Gukk's Javelins, the Firekin and Goatskull Aanchuth • YANNICK FUSIER: Yannick has completed sculpting the Hunters of Cait and that concludes his work for us on this project! • MARTIN LAVAT: We'll give Martin Archer Birna and Guliant's Web, as well as the Hrafnar of Stafangr, the Hrafnen Bowmen and the Storm of Khthon • YANNICK HENNEBO: Yannick has tons to do of course - he has Alix of Carn Bran, Archer Mildryth, Garric, Slinger Caitrín and the Auxilia Ballistarius on his plate. • EDGAR SKOMOROWSKI: Edgar, amazingly, has completed The Sinners of Chessell Barrow, Wihtboga Unit and the The Betrayers of Ceafor Barrow, Wihtax Unit. That leaves the Gāsts, The Hateful of Mordain Grave! • VALENTIN ZAK: Valentin will be sculpting the Crossbows of Dun Durn.
Not many sculpts or alterations for this project - or at least, on top of those needed to get the units sorted from previous projects.
We thought this would be a good idea, as things are cracking on - a list of completed sculpts, in kindred order! Completed sculpts are in bold; in progress sculpts are in italics.
New Sculpts: •ALBAINN: Crossbows of Dun Durn, Elbharu Unit - Hunters of Cait, Oghurithne Hunter Unit (Ungad - Agala - Wrad) • ANGLECYNN: Freemen of Scīrbrōc, Ceorl Unit - Bowmen of Scīrbrōc, Ceorl Bowman Unit - Sigewulf's Pack, Werwulf Hunter Unit •BYZANTII: Tor I Italus, Auxilia Ballistarius Tormentum •ÉRAINN: Slinger Caitrín - Men of Ármhach, Maiobhanagh Unit - Bholg of Arcaill, Fir Bholg Hurler Unit • FOMORAIC: Chaaruch the Despoiler, Gul-Gabrax Tain - Goatskull Aanchuth, Gabrax Warlock - Darkstone - Gaalgar's Herd, Gul-Gabrax Unit (Gaalgar - Raagar - Sraangar - Culgaar - Gongaar - Aalgar - Sraagar ) •JUTES: Archer Mildryth - Garric - The Sinners of Chessell Barrow, Wihtboga Unit (Ænna - Eglāf - Ceneric - Wassa - Octha) - The Betrayers of Ceafor Barrow, Wihtax Unit (Alfweald - Ealdred - Cenred - Wasere - Oscetyl) - The Hateful of Mordain Grave - Guliant's Web •KHTHONES: Akontar Eikovra, Sun Warrior - Gukkok's Blades, Sávrar Unit - Gukk's Javelins, Sávrakontar Unit - Storm of Khthon, Gorgóraxo Unit - Firekin, Szalamandra Unit •NORSE: Archer Birna - Hrafnen Bowmen, Holumann Bowman Unit - Hrafnar of Stafangr, Hrafnar Unit •VRAS: No-Claw's Burrow, Spear-Vras Unit •YSIANS: Alix of Carn Bran
Let us know if we've missed anything, of course...
It's Mierceday, Miercenaries - and this update is chock-full of Atalantes!
This week we have:
sculpt work in progress updates fromAllan Carrasco,Roberto Chaudon, Duncan Louca andJin Wei;
an updated list ofsculptorsandsculpts for this project;
...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let us begin!
Just like last week, we have tons for you! We have more Atalantes, sculpted byDuncan LoucaandJin Wei; a cracking Fomoraic monstrosity byAllan Carrasco; and something for the Norse byRoberto Chaudon!
Fresh from the super-stunning Kyros, Jin Wei surges forward withNikandros, the snake-hunter... note, the base is not included, that's just Jin's exuberance!
Nikandros should, hopefully, be a Wave 11 shipment.
The Atalantes gain themselves the mightyTitos andTitos Sigma(the second half of the video, and the project exclusive version). Titos is, of course, a huge and powerful Stratekolossos - a Mesokolossos Warchief...
They'll be a Wave 11 shipment!
Duncan Louca has been busy withThe Burning Ones- because they're now all done, and utterly superb!
The champion of the unit isPraxis...
That bronze spear would come a bit keen!
The first warrior in the unit isXan...
He might be hundreds of years old, but he's still amazingly powerful...
Bion was completed previously of course...
...but let's show him again, for completeness' sake...
The fourth warrior in the unit isHoros...
He's a cracker!
Last but not least,Kreioswill happily disembowel you!
The Burning Ones should be a Wave 11 shipment!
Ahhh, Kretos. We had such high hopes for you... and those hopes have been realised. Duncan Louca has produced some stunning work on these Atalantes, andKretosmay well be our favourite of the lot!
He should be a Wave 11 shipment - just a bit of posing to do and he's done!
The mightyAllan Carrascostorms back into our lives with the equally mightyCqaa, a Srónox of forthcoming destruction if ever there was one...
We're hoping he'll be a Wave 11 shipment, but we'll see!
It's been a while since we've seen anything fromRoberto Chaudon(we're blaming La Poste) but he's stormed back into contention with the amazingEgil Dead Hand, a Hrafnmann Jarl for the Norse!
Crikey. Here's another update for Darklands: Savage Hordes. What is the world coming to?
This week we have:
[*]sculpt work in progress updates fromMichael Anderson,Yannick Fusier andEdgar Skomorowski;
[*]an updated list ofsculptorsandsculpts for this project;
[*]a list of what ships, when;[*]...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Here we go...
We've yet more of Gaalgar's Herd to show, and of course those pesky Oghurithne Hunters of theHunters of Cait have more work done to them as well; but you're all waiting for the Jutes, aren't you? Well, we have theWihtbogaand theWihtax...
Yannick Fusier really loves doing these Oghurithne, because he's now completed theHunters of Cait, Oghurithne Hunterunit in double-quick time!
He's been done a while, but it doesn't hurt to remind you of whatUngad, the unit champion, looks like...
He'll be a Wave 12 with the rest!
Agalais the first female Oghurithne we've seen, and she's lovely!
Well, in a miniatures sense...
The last member of the unit,Wradis looking utterly superb.
There's still a few minor details to sort on the crossbows, but that means the Oghurithne Hunters will definitely be a Wave 12 shipment, Miercenaries! Rejoice!
Michael Anderson is really nailing theseGul-Gabrax... just look at them!
The champion of the Gul-Gabrax unit,Gaalgar, is really getting there now. We love this guy!
Hopefully he'll be done shortly!
The banner bearer of the unit is called Raagar...
"Raa! Raa!" said Raagar...
The herald of the Gul-Gabrax isSraangar...
"Toot! Toot!" said Sraangar...
We've seen Culgaarlike this before, but let's show him again for completeness' sake...
Just the horn and weapon to do...
A warrior of the unit, isGongaar...
We still think the unit will be on time to ship as part of Wave 12.
Edgar Skomorowski's work on the Wihtgār has been rather well received, to say the least, so when he agreed to sculpt the next units of Wihts we did quite a few happy dances, here at Mierce Towers. TheWihtaxaswere the first...

The coolest looking Wihtax of the lot!
The last warrior of the unit isOscetyl...
...these guys will definitely be a Wave 12 shipment!
The Wihtaxas are, of course, alternates of theWihtbogaminiatures, which are equally superb.
Edgar Skomorowski, we salute you!
The champion isÆnna; he wields a bone-bow!
That bone-bow is superb...
The awesomeEglāfwill shoot you in the face...
...or the bottom. Don't run away from him!
Cenericis a warrior, a bow-armed warrior...
...and he's lost his lower jaw somewhere. If found, return to the pub!
Easily our favourite of the lot,Wassais a menacing fellow indeed...
...coming to a battlefield near you.
The last member of the Wihtboga unit isOctha....
These guys will definitely be a Wave 12 shipment!
Automatically Appended Next Post: And Savage Hordes II!
Ogmops and Sunspear Kyros
Welcome to this, the first update for the Darklands: Savage Hordes II project! Make the most of it - it may be that the next update won't be for a while...!
This week we have:
[*]sculpt work in progress updates fromYannick FusierandJin Wei;
[*]an updated list ofsculptorsandsculpts for this project;[*]a list of what ships, when;
[*]...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Here we go...
First up for this project is the lovelyYannick Fusier, who shows us his latest Oghurithne dude; andJin Wei, who shows us an alternate Kyros...
The rather tramp-like - and probably smelly and growly - Ogmopsis still a wonderful miniature, thanks to Yannick Fusier's ministrations...
Ogmops will, without a shadow of a doubt, be a Wave 15 shipment...
Jin Wei has also digitally sculptedSunspear Kyrosalongside the normal Kyros and Helmed Kyros from Darklands: New Kindreds.
I love the new skeletons style... but I am kind of feeling like their torso's are a little short. The miniature feels a little bit compact, wheras the previous spearmen were nicely proportioned. No idea why this is, but it just feels weird.
In any case, loving the rest of the stuff! Those Gabrax look awesomely good!
We're not going to get anything more definite than that until he's go the books back in hand from the printers!
Some of these models look amazing but I cant deal with metal. I am a terrible modeler, and plastic is the limit of my abilities. That said those skeletons really are fantastic.
More info on the Jutes, who are fast becoming one of my favorite Kindreds!
Creator Mierce Miniatures about 18 hours ago
@Rick - there will be Hraewas at some point for the Jutes. Think of this as the progression:
Jute warrior -> Hraewas (freshly dead Jute warrior) -> Wiht (very dead Jute warrior) -> Dreaguth (nasty dead Jute warrior) -> Gast (extremely dead Jute noble)
Hraewas are not "zombies" per se; they are freshly dead warriors who still have a grasp of how to hold a sword and a conversation. They're a bit slow, but not shambling; they're just a bit dull-minded. They are honoured to be selected as undead warriors, and proud to fight, as they can still remember who they are.
Wihts retain their souls and some of their memories, but not all. They are so old, their flesh has gone; all that remains are their skeletons.
So, don't worry - our zombies are not shambling, twentieth-century zombies...
As for centipedes, I've not worked out anything yet! Watch this space.
PirateRobotNinjaofDeath wrote:Got a reply back from Mierce today. They confirmed that the rulebooks are being shipped separately of the models (target date hopefully early April).
That sounds...familiar?

Did you get any additional info?
The official line was: "The book will be with us early April I suspect." Take that as you will.
Anyone have any idea when Wave 10 hosts will ship? I am almost wholly unable to fathom Mierce's communications on this or pretty much any other matter (apart from "look, pretty minis").
SHIPMENT WAVE 10 (beginning February 2016): Ysian Bow-Drune (these have arrived back at Miere HQ and started to ship)
Érainn Tuanagh, Fomoraic Gabrax, Jute Wihtgār (metal masters approved and sent back for casting, hopefully arriving back and starting to ship some time in march
Albainn Gairlom, Brythoniaid Teulu,Fomoraic Warriors of Baalor, Norse Holumann (minis sent to the casrter but metal masters not yet back again they hope march but I suspect at best they'll get the masters approved this month but the actual stock won't come in till april at best especially as we're now into the Salute casting frenzy)
as always the earlier you finalised your choices the earlier you'll be in the shipping queue
So has anybody received their Wave 10 stuff yet? Almost finished painting my first shipment, and I'm itching to get my hands (and paint brush!) on the rest.
2016 has begun brilliantly for us here at Mierce Miniatures and we thought we'd celebrate Easter with a whopping 25% off UK RRP on purchases from our webstore, starting now until midnight (GMT) on Monday the 28th of March 2016!
What's on Offer?
You can get your hands on pretty much anything - so, Darklands miniatures, BaneLegions miniatures and Templar's Forge hobby products - apart from components and Kickstarter items. With over three hundred miniatures to choose from, you're spoilt for choice!
Sale Voucher Details
Your 25% off UK RRP discount voucher ends on Monday the 28th of January 2016 at midnight (GMT), and you really do have some superb miniatures to spend your hard-earned on!
Not only can you get your hands on some of our quite amazing back catalogue, such as Krull or The Terror of Fortriu or Angrislaug or tons of others, there's also our superb new releases, such as Erebius on Behema or the BaneBeast Aangaakk (shown below)!
Aangaakk, Ox-Gore of the Darkwald
The voucher will work on all the Darklands, BaneLegions and Templar's Forge items within our webstore, but:
•not on any Components
•not on any Kickstarter items
The voucher will work on pre-orders and, crucially, you'll still earn Moneyback - although tiered discounts are disabled when using a voucher.
Your voucher code is: EASTER-2016
To use this voucher simply register on the webstore, mierce-miniatures.com (if you haven't already), copy and paste the voucher code into the Voucher field in your basket when you have selected the items you want, press 'REDEEM', and the webstore will do the rest. You are not limited to one purchase and, indeed, we would ask you to recommend us to your friends with this voucher!
For anyone who has had to use the parts@mierce-miniatures.com to report miscasts and broken pieces, how long has it taken to get a response from Mierce?
Usually not long at all - their customer service is top notch!
Having said that, I sent in an inquiry a few days ago and still haven't heard back, so I think something's up that's delaying their usually quick response time...
So I kind of want to buy loads of Mierce stuff with this voucher.
But I prefer the metal to the resin (the resin is just too fragile for actual play, I think), which means the voucher doesn't work because those are KS-only deals.
And I would happily use it for pre-orders of some of the really cool stuff that is coming up, like it says you can use it... but there are none on the webstore right now.
Fresh from the last one, here's another update for BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters Part Deux in 2016...
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Martin Lavat;
•an idea of what will ship, and when;
•a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
Awesomely, Martin Lavat has completed work on the Chimera and next for him are the Phoenix Demons...
The Chimera - all lizard-head, lion-head, rat-head and scorpion-sting - is now looking utterly superb...
He's complete, so he'll be a Wave 12 shipment!
Wave 11
Wave 11 should begin soon!
We'll keep this list updated every, er, update.
• SHIPMENT WAVE 0: (complete): Existing miniatures.
• SHIPMENT WAVE 8 (August 2015): Stone Beast / Ettu - Ice Elemental / Skaadi
• SHIPMENT WAVE 11 (April 2016): Demon Prince of War - Demon Prince of Pleasure - Phoenix Demon Prince - Demon Prince of Plague
• SHIPMENT WAVE 12 (June 2016): Phoenix Demon - Chimera - Giant - Chaos Giant - Orc Giant
• Wave 12: items from Wave 12 will be removed from the website at the end of April.
• MARTIN LAVAT: Martin's finished the Chimera, and we're giving him the Phoenix Demon and Giants to convert...
We're getting there!
We thought this would be a good idea, as things are cracking on - a list of completed sculpts, in kindred order!
Completed sculpts are in bold; in progress sculpts are in italics.
• BEASTS: Stone Beast / Ettu - Giant - Chaos Giant - Orc Giant
• CHAOS: Ice Elemental / Skaadi - Phoenix Demon - Chimera - Demon Prince of War - Demon Prince of Pleasure - Phoenix Demon Prince - Demon Prince of Plague
It's another Mierceday and we have some awesome stuff for you this time. But then, don't we always?
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Allan Carrasco, Didier Fancagne, Duncan Louca, Juan Navarro Pérez, Bob Plociennik, Ernst Veingart and Jin Wei;
•an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let us begin!
This week we have a shedload of miniatures to you. A veritable shedload!
There's more Atalantes, sculpted by Duncan Louca and Jin Wei; the Brythoniaid get some love thanks to Bob Plociennik; there's Érainn from Didier Fancagne; more of the Fomoraic monstrosity by Allan Carrasco; the Norse gain some monster-fun with Ernst Veingart's work; and the Visigoths reappear thanks to Juan Navarro Pérez!
Jin Wei has begun work on the lovely Thera and she is looking superb so far.
She should be a Wave 12 shipment now.
The snake-hunter Nikandros is now complete!
Nikandros will be a Wave 12 shipment thanks to the 3D printing.
The amazing Duncan Louca has completed Kretos, and he's bloody awesome. He looks like he can barely contain the power within! Bear in mind he'll be on a 120mm base... he'll be huge!
Kretos will be a Wave 12 shipment now, thanks to the 3D printing required.
We've some news on Gungonn's Brood, the Dynwocor Unit we've all been looking forward to for a long time. With Roberto Chaudon busy as a busy bee, and Bob Plociennik's work coming to our attention - not the least of which was one of the Dynwocor, which Bob had done for fun - we've decided to give the unit to him. With awesome results!
The champion of the unit, Gungonn ap Gonn is a cracking start and a brilliant addition to your Brythoniaid.
It's still early days, but he's going to look awesome...
Achod ap Mab is the unit's banner bearer, and the miniature Bob created for fun (and which drew our attention).
There's still a bit of tweaking to do, but he's getting there...
The herald is Roch ap Roch, a mighty shrieker if ever there was one...
These guys, hopefully, will be a Wave 12 shipment; but Bob is not a full-time sculptor so we'll see.
All rejoice, for the Beasts of Síleann Fen are now complete, thanks to Didier Fancagne's ministrations!
The last remaining member of the unit (and the champion of it), Cru Creach, is now complete...
These guys will be a Wave 12 shipment.
Sometimes you forget just how awesome Allan Carrasco is. Then you get a miniature like Cqaa...
He'll be a Wave 12 shipment.
It's been a while since we've seen anything from Ernst, but Stígr is definitely worth the wait...
We're hoping he'll be a Wave 12 shipment, but we'll see.
The amazing Danilo Cruz on Horse is now complete, and we love him! Cantabrians rejoice!
He'll be a Wave 12 shipment now.
Wave 8 and 9 shipments are ongoing, and Wave 10 has begun
Wave 8 and 9 shipments are ongoing and will be for some time, and shipments for Wave 10 has begun.
We will try to get everything out as soon as we can, but there's a lot to ship - and as always we prioritise orders in date sequence; i.e., if you ordered early, you'll get your stuff sent early.
What we're saying, basically, is - please be patient! We are doing everything as fast as we can without compromising on quality.
Here's an up to date list of what we think will be shipped when.

Items in bold will DEFINITELY be sent in that wave as we have the sculpt; items in italics are in progress and should make it into that wave, but we don't yet have the sculpt. Items not in bold or in italics may still make it into that wave, but may not.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Not sure how I feel about the Dynwoccor,
they're still WIP and are certainly well done (and if I just happened across them from another range I would be buying them), but they feel a bit sterile, soulless and clean compared to the magnificent Mag ap Mag
but I was really looking forward to Roberto doing the unit as Mag ap Mag is one of my favorite Darklands minis so I may well be being too harsh (I suspect I'll have to have the final resin in my hands to make up my mind for sure)
It's a metal update! Metal production is cracking on and we've four more host samples to show you.
This week we have:
•images of the metal Albainn Gairlom, Brythoniaid Teulu, Fomoraic Warriors of Baalor and Norse Holumenn infantry hosts;
•an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•a list of what ships, when;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Here we go...
This week we have four superb metal infantry hosts to show you, for the Albainn, Brythoniaid, Fomoraic and Norse!
The metal Gairlom Infantry Starter Host - which includes the Oghurithne in metal, of course - looks utterly brilliant and stunningly superb. The Gairlom are awesome, awesome sculpts, too!
Ciniod, Itaina, Domnech, some Gairlom and some Oghurithne (this shot includes the 750 gold upgrade, of course)
These guys will be a Wave 11 shipment, all being well.
The Teulu Infantry Starter Host looks brilliant in metal! Remember, there's no Dyndraig with these guys - they're too big for metal.
Urien, Carys and Caedoc, plus lots of Teulu!
Wave 11 for these, hopefully.
As well as the awesome Gabrax, the Fomoraic get themselves some Warriors of Baalor in metal thanks to the Warriors of Baalor Infantry Starter Host! Unfortunately though, those Toracx are just too big to be metal miniatures (mostly down to cost) and so they'll be produced in resin. Which means, those three Toracx you see will be very rare indeed in the future...

Kraan, Tundaar and Maagaan, plus the Warriors of Baalor
Again, these guys will hopefully be a Wave 11 shipment.
The Holumann Infantry Starter Host gives us those lovely Norse longshipmen in metal. No Trolls of course, they're resin only, but there's three characters too!
Eirik, Víthar and Birna, plus the Hrafnen Crew
We do expect these guys to be Wave 11 too.
Four Infantry Hosts have been shipped!
Four infantry hosts have been shipped so far - the Anglecynn Duguth, Brythoniaid Rhyfelwr, Ysian Ax-Drune and Ysian Bow-Drune Infantry Hosts - as well as the individual miniatures within them; and whilst some people have not received theirs that will be because they do not have enough shipment items to split their orders into separate shipments.
Note that if you have purchased the above from other projects, such as Savage Hordes or Savage Hordes II, we will ship them when we can - and again, it's all down to your shipment items.
What's Next?
As you can see from this and previous updates, we now have the samples of the Albainn Gairlom, Brythoniaid Teulu, Érainn Tuanagh, Fomoraic Gabrax, Fomoraic Warriors of Baalor, Jute Wihtgār and Norse Holumann Infantry Hosts.
With Salute 2016 rearing its head and increasing demand, we have been told by the metal casters that we won't be getting the production casts until early April (and probably in the week just before Salute) for these hosts, which is no doubt because every man and his dog want metal miniatures from them for Salute.
So - whilst they'll still be Wave 11 shipments - they'll be shipped either just before or just after April the 16th, which is the Salute weekend, depending on your shipment items of course.
What's Left?
With the best will in the world the remaining four hosts - the Anglecynn Gesith (still awaiting Gesith alternates), the Atalantes Oplites (still awaiting lots of sculpts), the Byzantii Legionarius (just too late to make it into the last batch) and the Byzantii Demilegionarius (awaiting moulding of the Demilegionarii, and the sculpting of the alternate Erebius) are not going to be Wave 11 shipments; so they're going into Wave 12.
Monstrous Infantry
We've had to make a decision on whether the monstrous infantry within each infantry host will be made in metal or will be resin only, a decision based upon cost more than anything else; if, for example, it costs more to make that monstrous infantry in metal than it does in resin, then it is not cost-effective to do so.
That's what's happened with the larger monstrous infantry from the various hosts, and why we haven't yet done the Brutes in metal (from the Ax-Drune set). Simply put, anything too large will now only be cast in resin, and sent with the metal host when it arrives.
The following monstrous infantry will be made in metal:
•Albainn Oghurithne
•Anglecynn Werwulf
•Anglecynn Wælwulf
•Byzantii Demilegionarius
•Fomoraic Tarvax
•Jute Drēaguth
The following monstrous infantry will only be made in resin:
•Atalantes Mesokolossos
•Brythoniaid Dyndraig
•Byzantii Skorpion Minor
•Fomoraic Tarvocx
• Érainn Fen Beast
•Norse Troll
•Ysian Brute
The upside, of course, is that giving you the monstrous infantry in resin has actually given you a better deal...!
We have a clearer picture of what's ahead now for the rest of the hosts, so here's an up to date list of what we think will be shipped when.
• SHIPMENT WAVE 0: (complete): Existing miniatures
• SHIPMENT WAVE 9 (beginning October 2015): Ysian Ax-Drune
• SHIPMENT WAVE 9.5: (beginning January 2016): Anglecynn Duguth, Brythoniaid Rhyfelwr
• SHIPMENT WAVE 10 (beginning February 2016): Ysian Bow-Drune
• SHIPMENT WAVE 10.5 (beginning April 2016): Albainn Gairlom, Brythoniaid Teulu, Érainn Tuanagh, Fomoraic Gabrax, Fomoraic Warriors of Baalor, Jute Wihtgār, Norse Holumann
• SHIPMENT WAVE 12 (beginning June 2016): Anglecynn Gesith, Atalantes Oplites, Byzantii Legionarius, Byzantii Demilegionarius
Items in bold will DEFINITELY be sent in that wave as they are in production with the metal casters.
Items in bold italics denote those that have been produced in sample form, and are just awaiting production versions after any corrections.
Items in italics are in mould-making progress (as we have all of the miniatures required for that host and have shipped them to the metal casters) and should make it into that wave, but we don't yet have the first samples.
Items not in bold or in italics may still make it into that wave, but may not.
Here is another lesser-spotted update for the Darklands: Savage Hordes project, on this fine bank holiday weekend...
This week we have: •sculpt work in progress updates from Michael Anderson and Benoît Cosse; •an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project; •a list of what ships, when; •...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Here we go...
We've more Gaalgar's Herd from Michael Anderson to show and something superb in the rat-like shape of No-Claw's Burrow from Benoît Cosse!
Michael Anderson has completed work on the initial five miniatures from the Gul-Gabrax, and they look utterly superb...
The banner bearer and herald will have to wait until these guys are moulded and cast, though...
The champion of the Gul-Gabrax unit, Gaalgar, is complete...
He's now done...
An update on Culgaar...
He's gone to pieces!
A warrior of the unit, is Gongaar... and he's now done.
He looks fantastic. Possibly our favourite!
Aalgar is the alternate version of the banner bearer, and he's now done...
He needs to be moulded and cast before the banner bearer can be sculpted.
Apologies for the small images - but Sraagar is still amazing... and he'll be the basis for the herald eventually, too.
We do think the unit will be on time to ship as part of Wave 12, including the alternates.
As Benoît Cosse sculpted the first member of this unit - Quick-Blade - a million years ago, we thought he'd be happy to do the whole of No-Claw's Burrow... and we're glad he is!
A quick reprise of Quick-Blade, one of our very first miniatures.
He'll obviously be converted into an alternate warrior, too.
To say that we want to hold Scar-Belly and cuddle him to death is an understatement. We love this guy so much it hurts!
Hopefully, these guys will definitely maybe a Wave 12 shipment!
There's not much to say here, except - there's a while to go before the first miniatures are shipped from this project, so keep watching the updates to see what will make it into that first Wave.
Here's an up to date list of what we think will be shipped when. • SHIPMENT WAVE 0: (complete): Existing miniatures • SHIPMENT WAVE 12 (June 2016): Hunters of Cait, Oghurithne Hunter Unit (Ungad - Agala - Wrad) - Gaalgar's Herd, Gul-Gabrax Unit (Gaalgar - Raagar - Sraangar - Culgaar - Gongaar - Aalgar - Sraagar) - The Betrayers of Ceafor Barrow (Alfweald - Ealdred - Cenred - Wasere - Oscetyl) - The Sinners of Chessell Barrow (Ænna - Eglāf - Ceneric - Wassa - Octha) - No-Claw's Burrow, Spear-Vras Unit (No-Claw, Quick-Blade, Fat-Skin, Sharp-Fang, Scar-Belly, Quick-Kill, Fat-Tail)
Items in bold will DEFINITELY be sent in that wave as we have the sculpt; items in italics are in progress and should make it into that wave, but we don't yet have the sculpt. Items not in bold or in italics may still make it into that wave, but may not.
Sorry, I should have said Vras, the few released so far haven't grabbed me like this latest sculpt, something about the shape of the head makes it much more menacing.
It's another Mierceday and we have some awesome stuff for you this time. But then, don't we always?
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Allan Carrasco, Didier Fancagne, Duncan Louca, Juan Navarro Pérez, Bob Plociennik, Ernst Veingart and Jin Wei;
•an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;

Not sure how I feel about the Dynwoccor,
they're still WIP and are certainly well done (and if I just happened across them from another range I would be buying them), but they feel a bit sterile, soulless and clean compared to the magnificent Mag ap Mag
but I was really looking forward to Roberto doing the unit as Mag ap Mag is one of my favorite Darklands minis so I may well be being too harsh (I suspect I'll have to have the final resin in my hands to make up my mind for sure)
Hello,
I must say that it's not because I'm too busy that I'm not sculpting these guys...there must be another reason Orlando. It's going to be cheaper ? maybe. I didn't know about this.
So let's see what I'll be sculpting for the friends of MM in the future.
I'm glad you like my work by the way !
Cheers
Roberto
Roberto,
I love your stuff too; you've seized my heart as their most consistent amazing sculptor. With these being initially announced for an August 2015 completion though, I just wonder if they might have been trying to get them out the door faster. I know it feels like there's a lot of New Kindreds backlog, for whatever reason.
Thanks for posting here, Roberto!! I think you have a bit of a cult following on Dakka your sculpts really are incredible!
I was looking at this earlier, and I am guessing there are some advantages to be had with using digital sculpting for the units - likely easier to make modifications to different members of the unit, without needing to start over with a new sculpt. So, there probably are some savings, and maybe it's more efficient for things like the skeleton units, where there are so many similar models.
On this note - do we know who is sculpting the Savrar units? And what is up next for Roberto, if those aren't on his plate (I can't remember if they are or not).

I believe they said Benoit Cosse would do the Savrar.

Hi Ryan,
I have an idea of what you think about my sculpting, I take a look at the comments when I can, much appreciated! That’s motivating for a sculptor for sure. You’re doing a great work on your blog and nice stuff on your painting by the way, that’s a lot of help for the lovers of the hobby.
Again, these fellows and other models would be already sculpted since a long time ago but that isn’t in my hands I’m afraid.

Thanks Hi RiTides! I’m glad to hear that! I must say that there are many nice backers over here.
Yes, you’re right about the practical side of things, that is totally understandable it’s just that I didn’t know and they were noted on my schedule (since a long time ago indeed)… as you can see my production for MM has slowed down but this is because I was asked to. Anyway, when I have the green light I try to do my best and I’m happy when it happens.

Dakka Dakka really is a nice place - usually - once you get to know it!
Anyway, welcome to the Forum!
I'm certainly glad you're here, and you remain on e of my all time favorite sculptors. You're one of the few sculptors that have made my 'Will Buy Once I Know He's Sculpting It' list - I know that if you're assigned the project that it will turn out looking great!
I'm a bit disheartened to read that your Mierce stuff is...slowing down, if I'm reading that correctly?
I hope that's not the case, or that it is just a temporary blip in their production schedule.
I have to ask, are us non-Kickstarter-just-regular-webstore-customers going to catch a break at some stage? It seems like the stuff that's actually available to just buy in a normal transaction is falling further and further behind the amount of stuff being shipped to KS backers.
Alpharius wrote: Yes, it will show up eventually for you, but yes, just about everything seems to be running a bit later than the normal 'late' over at Mierce Towers!
It's not so much the "eventually" bit that's bothersome, I understand they had to deal with backers first, it's that "eventually" seems to be describing an ever-longer gap as time goes on.

Hi Alpharius,
Thanks for your welcome ! Those kind of comments only help me to try to do my best.
I feel things are going on the right way now and that Darklands will hit very strong this year.
Cheers

Hi Malkaven,
Glad to hear that, I guess you knew my work of fantasy and historical subjects before I was contacted by MM ?
And yes, I normally will be sculpting more things for them.
Thanks for your welcome ! Those kind of comments only help me to try to do my best.

Roberto, you are truly one of the best sculptors I've seen from Mierce (and that's no small accomplishment!).
I can say without hesitation, that you are undoubtedly the king of all dragons (and most other reptiles) in all of the Mierce catalog. I very much look forward to seeing what other amazing characters and creatures you create in the coming years.
I would love to know if there's a particular sculpt you've done for Mierce that is your favorite?
Also, are there any figures which you are scheduled to work on, that you are particularly excited to sculpt?
Are there any figures which you did not sculpt that you really like?

Hi skullking,
Thanks for your words ! About any favorite, it’s difficult to talk about the own work (I’m very critical to myself too) but I can tell you Talos as being the first one it has a particular taste to me. I guess the biggest guys like Angrislaug, Vaak, Hrudinn, Aradae Mawn, Glaun, Parawn, then some smaller like the Dyndraig, Mag Ap Mag who I think has a malicious and morbid feeling, Petroyos is particular insane one, the infernii…Praach, I don’t know, I think all of them have something particular to me as I have enjoyed a lot sculpting them. I must say that the concepts art are very important as it’s like the guide line to follow. There are many great sketches and it’s a pleasure to interpretateand translate those in REAL 3D!
About scheduled figures: all of them ! Darklands projects that have been assigned me to sculpt are great. The alternates are less “exciting” I guess
About your last question; yes, there are many of them, monsters or creatures, even smaller ones.
Project Update #128: Darklands: First Edition by Mierce Miniatures
Here's the changes:
Mustering Hosts: Currently you are forced to pick a certain amount of Mainstay units per battle size. These will increase, and also include other ubiquities such as Common units. For a 2,000 gold battle, you will have to muster 3x Mainstay units, 2x Common units and 1x Uncommon unit.
Effective Sizes: Units that are taken to fulfil the minimum ubiquity limits in a host must be taken at their effective size - i.e., half their maximum size (rounding fractions up), so a unit whose maximum size is 20 has an effective size of 10.
Free Command: Units that are taken to fulfil the minimum ubiquity limits will be given free unit command warriors, such as champion, banner bearer and herald.
Gold Costs: We've reduced the cost of infantry a fair bit and some other units a little bit. Some units - usually the most powerful ones - have increased in cost.
TEMPER: The TEMPER of the more natural creatures have increased; so humans and the like (except for Sorcerers) have low TEMPER, monstrous infantry a fair bit more, and monsters a lot of TEMPER.
We're back on track, it seems, because we've got another wave of new releases for you all for both BaneLegions and Darklands, and from three different Kickstarter projects! This month there's four releases from the Darklands: Monstrous Mounts Kickstarter project, the very first release from Darklands: New Kindreds and there's two more from BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters, too!
The two new miniatures for the BaneLords were both sculpted or converted by Gary Morley - Brazhag, an Orc Warlord wielding two big axes, and the Mighty Malek, a Black Ælf Lord on Dragon (the dragon was originally sculpted by Roberto Chaudon of course)! For Darklands we've the very first Érainn miniature - the awesome Beast of Cill Chonn Bog, Mórannach - and four mighty monsters, Oso for the Albainn, Brontull for the Infernii, Vaenhildr for the Norse and Back-Cracker for the Vras!
Sadly, we've not been able to get them painted in time for release (except for Mórannach, who looks wonderful), but the miniatures themselves are fantastic as always - and just like the previous releases, thanks to us being busier than busy bees we've just not had the time to get the release art and descriptions done; but you can still see some good images of each miniature on the website of course.
Sculpted by Aragorn Marks from the artwork by Sam Lamont, Oso (standing on a 100mm base) is a huge and powerful Aurogg, a monstrous herbivore from the deep valleys of Alba that is quick to anger and immensely strong - a combination the Albainn favour for their beasts of war!
Sculpted by the amazing Allan Carrasco from the beautifully painted artwork by Sam Lamont (and amazingly realised as a paintjob by James Wappell), Mórannach is a mighty bog beast of titanic proportions (he barely fits on his 80mm base) and the very first release from the Darklands: New Kindreds Kickstarter project - and the very first Uí Néill release for the Érainn, too!
Brontull is of course the unmounted version of the Behema found in the Erebius, Demiurion on Behema miniature, and has been sculpted superbly by Dan Cockersell from the artwork by Stef Kopinski - and the original Behema, which stood on a 100mm base, of course. Watch out for his charge!
Vaenhildr is a stunningly beautiful miniature and has been sculpted by Roberto Chaudon from the artwork by Danny Cruz. Hovering over an 80mm base, she's a perfectly realised sculpt of a raven and will prove to be an excellent mount for Birna, when that combination is released of course!
The awesome Back-Cracker - sculpted by Yannick Fusier from the artwork by Sam Lamont - is an utterly amazing miniature that gains more detail every time you look at it. It's so good it hurts! Soon to be the mount of Blunt-Claw (in a future release), Back-Cracker stands on a 100mm base.
Designed and sculpted by Gary Morley, Brazhag is a superb Orc of the old school variety - but no less awesome for all that. Those two axes might come a bit keen...
Mounted atop a fantastic conversion of the Darklands dragon, Parawn, Malek is a stunning Black Ælf Lord sculpted by Gary Morley, a nasty and powerful dark elf who is well able to stick his lance where the sun don't shine. Don't annoy him!
All of the releases above were officially released on the 2nd of April 2016, and so you can order them right now.
Watch out for the May releases, which should be unveiled soon!

BaneBeasts Ho!
It's been far too long since we last released any new miniatures - thanks mainly to Christmas and just being incredibly busy - and so we thought we'd address that today with five BaneLegions releases from the BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters Kickstarter project!
We have two new miniatures for the BaneLords sculpted by Gary Morley this month - Scoldemort, an evil warlock if ever there was one, and Harry, a rather stylish wizard. For the BaneBeasts, we've three mighty monsters, all converted by Tim Prow from the original Darklands miniatures - Scar-Claw, a Rat Fiend and spreader of general nastiness; Aangaak, a huge and terrifying Ox-Gore; and S'hcrhro'tum-b'hoss, a horrid Lord of Pus you'd rather avoid than confront!
Sadly, we've not been able to get them painted in time for release, but the miniatures themselves are fantastic as always - and just like the previous releases, thanks to us being busier than busy bees we've just not had the time to get the release art and descriptions done; but you can still see some good images of each miniature on the website of course.
It's another Gary Morley miniature, is Harry. He's a wizard, of course, and a stylish one, a respector of mirrors and a rather vain fellow as a result. That doesn't mean his fireballs don't hurt...
Converted from the superb Scar-Scath - one of our very first miniatures! - Scar-Claw is a cracking Rat Demon Fiend Thing, who will of course serve as another Vermin-Fiend should you need another one for your Darklands Vras host...
Try saying that with your mouth full... well, Scrotey here (which is what we call him, among other things) is a huge and nasty Plague Demon, a Lord of Pus and Flies and Boils and other horrible things that don't bear too much thinking about. Step out of his way and let him through, unless you want the plague!
That's more like it, said Darklands. Here's Aangaakk - a massive, powerful creature of hoof and horn that will, eventually, run you down no matter how fast your legs can carry you. Scott Lines, here being picked up by Aangaakk a few seconds before being eaten, can attest to that...
All of the releases above were officially released on the 5th of March 2016, and so you can order them right now.
Watch out for the April releases, which should be unveiled soon!

Fellow Miercenaries!
Today is an excellent day, for we can bring you news of the Darklands: First Edition Rule Book - it will be shipping in the week commencing the 18th of April 2016 (as long as we can get hold of the relevant boxes to do so)!
Your copy will be signed!
Your copy of the Darklands: First Edition Rule Book will be signed by the Mierce Miniatures team, which we hope will be a nice surprise for you all!
We know that some of you do not want a signed copy, so please e-mail us to let us know and we will make sure your copy is not signed.
Further Copies of the Rule Book
If you would like any further copies of the Darklands: First Edition Rule Book, they are now available to pre-order from the Mierce Miniatures website. You can also purchase further signed copies of the rule book from now until Monday, as per the offer to non-Kickstarter backers.
However, please note that its RRP is now £39.99 - £5.00 more than originally expected - and this is because of its length, 364 pages, which is around a hundred pages more than estimated previously. This means you have got hold of your copy much cheaper than expected!
Also, info on the next Kickstarter:

Oghurithneach will occur... at some point! The next project is monsters... the new kindreds haven't got many! Plus, er, Conand.
You'll be able to have an Umaer with crossbow as a commander too. Working on converting Bagseg to be that commander.
That Conand part?
And then that loud thump you heard?
That was Zed, passing out from overwhelming anticipation and joy!
Games scales from smaller skirmish (500 'gold) all the way up to massive battles (2000 gold and up).
Give the rules a read and see what you think - and let us know too!
The ruleset that went to print had some changes from what we were initially given/used to!
EDIT:
KS Backers look to see their rulebooks start to ship April 18th, while pre-order/new customer look to have theirs start shipping May 7th:
After five years of intensive development Mierce Miniatures can proudly announce that the Darklands: First Edition Rule Book will be released on the 7th of May, 2016 - and to celebrate that fact, we're offering you a chance to get your copy both a little bit cheaper and signed by the team here at Mierce Miniatures! You'd best be quick though, because this offer will be removed on Monday, the 11th of April at midnight (GMT)!
The 364 page Darklands: First Edition hardback Rule Book contains the fantastic Darklands: First Edition rules, which comprise an introduction to tabletop wargaming and a background to the lands of darkness themselves as well as the sections on hosts, units and warriors, setting up the battlefield, the all-important battle hour sequence and the various actions and reactions your units can perform during a game. In short, you can't play a game of Darklands without it!
To get a hold of your signed Darklands: First Edition Rule Book, simply purchase it on the Mierce Miniatures website and it will be sent over the weekend beginning the 23rd of April 2016, a week before the official publication date. Doing so will save you £5.00 from the UK RRP of £39.99, but you must be quick - this offer will be removed at midnight (GMT) on Monday the 11th of April 2016!

Very excited! It's sounding like a smaller 'monsters only' kickstarter. I'm currently going all in on the new Fomoraic reivers and Walvax. Reivers and sea beasts - going for piratical coastal raiders.
Also, you forgot the mention of the Ettenwiht - some sort of undead giant!
Damn, 364 pages? That's a hefty book! I'll be picking this up, my eyes just glazed over when I tried to read the PDF's. I guess I'm a luddite, but reference materials have to be physical for me.
Me too. I've read the PDF, but I'm more engaged with a book. I find it easier to deal with especially when it comes to cross referencing and flicking through. Probably means that I'm morphing into a Meldrew-esque moaning old git! Looking forward to it and getting more games in!
learning from a book is easier as you can flip back to that bit you vaguely remember (instead of having to remember a search term or page), hold several pages open at once with bits of paper etc
for actual play, once you know what you're doing and only have to check the odd rule (you know the name of) a pdf or similar digital book is excellent,

That'd be me then...
What with this and the Star Wars trailer it's been quite a day !
Harry's said similar too, and if those of us brave enough to sink our cash into it unplayed aren't playing it, we can't really drum up further interest!
It's another Mierceday and we have some awesome stuff for you this time. But then, don't we always?
This week we have:
sculpt work in progress updates from Roberto Chaudon and Jin Wei;[list]an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;[list]...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let us begin!
This week we have more Atalantes, sculpted by Jin Wei, and something for the Byzantii from Roberto Chaudon...
Jin Wei has been working hard on the Atalantes and the project exclusive version of Thera, Helmed Thera, can be seen here...
She will be a Wave 12 shipment!
We hoped that Hektor would look as fantastic as Kyros and Thera, and Jin hasn't disappointed us at all...
He's done, and should be a Wave 12 shipment...
The project exclusive version of Hektor is Helmed Hektor, of course...
He'll be a Wave 12 shipment too.
Yay! Roberto Chaudon is back! The project exclusive version of Djiuzu, Armoured Djiuzu, is complete and is looking awesome!
Hopefully he'll be a Wave 12 shipment!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Metal Age:
Bleariness... and an update on the metals
With metal production continuing, we have a quick update on when the completed sets will land from the metal casters and a new miniature to show you...
This week we have:
sculpt work in progress updates from Jin Wei;[list]an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;[list]a list of what ships, when;[list]...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Here we go...
This week we have a fantastic Drinking Companion from Jin Wei!
With work on Hektor complete, Jin has also converted him into the Bleary Hektor drinking companion. He's enjoying that wine!
He should be a Wave 12 guy...
Update: this is going to be the case. We'll be collecting the metals from the casters next week, before the show, but we're not sure if we'll be able to ship them after or before. Depends on what day we can get them!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Savage Hordes - Valentin Zak strikes!
Fat Blokes
Amazingly, we have another update for the Darklands: Savage Hordes project!
This week we have:
sculpt work in progress updates from Valentin Zak;[list]an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;[list]a list of what ships, when;[list]...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Here we go...
We've some fat gits for the Érainn to show this week, courtesy of Valentin Zak!
Valentin has begun work on the Fir Bholg Hurlers, as imagined by Sam Lamont, and they are more characterful than all of the characters in War and Peace put together. They're going to be awesome!
The champion of the unit is Dougal, and he's suitably fat and gitty.
Look at those ears!
The first warrior is Feargal, and he looks very ugly.
You wouldn't call him that to his face though!
The last warrior of the unit is Feargus, a right nasty piece of work.
Hopefully these guys will be a Wave 12 shipment, but we'll see - there's a way to go yet...
Automatically Appended Next Post: And a giant Hippo!
Girls and Hippo-Men
It's the second update for the Darklands: Savage Hordes II project! Applause gratefully accepted!
This week we have:
sculpt work in progress updates from Allan Carrasco and Jin Wei;[list]an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;[list]a list of what ships, when;[list]...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Here we go...
We have something for the Atalantes and something for the Byzantii this week, courtesy of Jin Wei and Allan Carrasco respectively!
Jin's superb qualities of sculptingness know no bounds, for Toxotes Thera is looking utterly superb...
She will definitely be a Wave 15 shipment!
Ahhh, Allan Carrasco. How sweet the day is when we see a new miniature from you.
Ahem. Allan has turned his attention to Onumo, the mighty Hippoxus, and he is looking utterly fantastic so far, as you would expect.
We certainly hope that Onumo will be a Wave 15 shipment!
If Mierce is reading this, please add something like this to your website. I spent awhile yesterday just trying to figure out what Darklands was, and I made little progress. This post helped immensely. I wanted to like the system and miniatures, but the site was too information-dense for a newbie.
(qualifier: maybe there's already something there, but I missed it.)
Sorry for lack of spoiler tags but this set of images is a bit tragic for me. We're really getting zero fluff in this book huh? I've essentially been waiting for a large paperweight with a map of GB on the inside cover
There was a fairly extensive discussion between the 'book ASAP we want to game' and the 'don't mind waiting for Rob to write a bunch of background' groups both on the KS forums and here
and the former group were in the considerable majority (and it's probably better for the health of the game/company too even though I would have preferred to wait)
At the moment it seems like the Musters book may end up with a bunch of new background in but I'm waiting on that solidifying before ordering it as it doesn't seem that Robs got any more spare time to write
This thread's getting a bit long in the tooth...I might use the occasion of the Darklands Rulebook Release/Shipping to start a brand new Mierce Darklands Ongoing News and Rumors Thread...
A new thread would be really welcome, imo (and since Mierce doesn't really update the OP of this one, it would be fine for you to be the OP - you're the one updating it usually, anyway!).
I love that cover but wish there weren't yellow letters in the middle - it's so dark and forboding otherwise! Overall, production quality looks stellar and I might pick up the book just to read
I'll almost certainly be backing the new kickstarter but I'm a little surprised its so soon after the last one - some of the sculpts from savage hordes 2 haven't even been assigned yet let alone work started on most the miniatures. Its starting to appear that Mierce needs the kickstarter income to continue to fund existing work.
I don't know how well they're doing in non kickstarter sales either. Element Games stock a number of their models on their website but have just put them into their clearance section. With Mierce's pending rulebook release and a relatively large range of metal models in varying stages of production I hope they release something such as a 2 player starter set (with either the full rulebook or basic rules booklet) and faction starter sets (in metal rather than resin as its much more accessible and affordable to the casual gamer) which would help grow the setting and fan base beyond kickstarter and in gaming shops all over the country/world.

The problem for me is the achingly slow release rate for us non-KS plebs. First I didn't start the game because the warband I liked the sound of had no models, then I didn't start the game because they had models but I couldn't buy them, now I don't want to start the game because I'd rather get the cheaper metals...but there's still a lot of stuff for the factions I'm intrigued by that isn't even shipping to KS backers in resin yet, so if they keep up with the current pace of regular retail releases I'll be in my 50's before I can just go to their website and order a warband.
And I understand the obstacles, I do, but it's still immensely frustrating.
I agree with you on that point - Savage Hordes 2 ended on Feb. 27, so I didn't expect the next Kickstarter to begin until sometime around the end of May.
Unless Mierce goes off the 'start' date and not the 'finish' date when calculating the 'one every 3 months' thing?
A good month of promoting and selling the full rulebook before launching the next campaign might have been helpful.
Maybe this is one of the 'smaller' campaigns though, like "Monstrous Mounts" was?
Didn't they indicate shipping the rulebooks wouldn't take all that long? AFAIK they just need to stuff them in boxes and send those off, not really something that will take 'a good month' by any stretch. I'm fairly sure Rob said it would take just a couple of days once they had the books in hand.

Pretty much, as the books are going separately, not with anything else.
It really will be a matter of wrapping them, placing them in the appropriate padded envelop/shipper and...shipping them.
I'd think that they'd be done with that within a week's timeframe.
They've ***just*** got a decent bunch of metals in to ship to backers (and even that batch won't suffice as far as Jutes and Gabrax are concerned) - I'm fairly sure those dearly-needed affordable starters will be another few months off (as a general release item, anyway).
I think, I should also mention, that as a retailer I still can't sell Darklands as a GAME, only as separate miniatures. Though most of the time I can justify their cost in resin. Some of the initial kindreds are still undeveloped in retail, not mentioning the new ones. I think they should concentrate on solidifying the base, before riding further. Rounding up kindreds for retail, creating affordable starters and then developing further. I see the interest in the eyes of the buyers and gamers, but I have almost nothing to offer them as a finished product.
Rule Books will start shipping today and it should take until early next week to get all of them out of the door.
Metal Starter Sets will appear in retail very soon, although they'll be slightly different to those from Metal Age; but I do need them to be painted and photographed before that occurs, which necessarily delays them. The Ax-Drunes and Bow-Drunes will be the first ones available for that reason.
Even so, those that aren't painted and photographed will appear on our website, they just won't be available to retail until they are sorted graphically.
There'll also be a double starter set with two kindreds and a rule book at some point soon.
Lastly, a plea.
Rome wasn't built in a day - we are a tiny, tiny company and we do not have the resources larger companies do.
You really do need to cut us some slack on timescales - for the resources we have, we've produced more miniatures in one year than any other similar company out there.
As for Kickstarter, I gave up on retailers a long time ago - they make up around 5% of our sales, if that. Time will tell as to whether that improves, especially now the game is out, but we are a Kickstarter company, first and foremost, because that's where the majority of our customers are; and it's not like I haven't said this before - it's not new. You must also bear in mind that most projects contain very little profit for us - they basically fund the miniatures and that's it, after costs and taxes are factored in.
Look, we're doing our very best to bring you cool miniatures and a cool game. I'm sorry if that's not good enough for you, but we only have so many pairs of hands and there's only so many hours in a day.
OK, you're a Kickstarter company, so solve the issue with a Kickstarter - run a "traditional" campaign to fund an increased rate of metal models with some in-house production.
Also, you really don't grasp the whole "customer relations" aspect of business, do you. People are telling you, politely and while specifically pointing out that they understand the obstacles you face, that they want to buy your product but some thing or another is stopping them, and your response is American Highschool Teen-style passive aggressive comments?
Maybe run a Kickstart to fund someone to handle your PR while you're at it...
I'm not quite sure where you think I've been passive aggressive - if anything you come across as that!
I believe I am entitled to put our side across, yes? All I see is moaning about this and moaning about that - I just thought you all needed to understand where *we're* coming from. I thought that might have been instructive for you all.
I'm sorry if I've offended you, that certainly wasn't my intention.
I absolutely love your models, Mierce, and I've even come around a bit on your business model - but I would say that calling feedback "moaning about this and moaning about that" probably isn't the most helpful thing to post on a forum (honestly, even if it's true!).
You guys have been super responsive to any questions I've sent directly and I'm happy with your progress. I am a little concerned that the metal production seems to be lagging a bit, but I also think that those metal starter sets along with this rulebook are going to be really key to success! So, very exciting things afoot... just have to take the feedback as what it's meant as - not moaning, but people giving constructive criticism, most of whom have probably spent hundreds of dollars on beautiful Mierce minis on here
I also forgot to mention - you also have to understand that we must ship metal starter sets to backers first, then retail - although it's kind of moot if the painting and photography isn't done for those sets.
Can you use painted resins for the metal starter set box art? I think companies do this pretty frequently, and I certainly think that would be fine - no sense in getting extremely similar minis painted twice!
Customers lamenting about unavailable products and delays isn't moaning - it's unsatisfied demand for your product! I'm a newbie to your range, but I'm definitely interested in a starter set or similar Kickstarter campaign.
@ Mierce. My comments weren't intended as criticism. All I was saying that I was a bit surprised that a new kickstarter campaign was being launched so soon after the last one. With the number of sculpts to still be done from Savage Hordes 2, if the kickstarter was launched in 1 or 2 months time then I don't see it actually affecting fulfilment anyway.
My other comment was more a suggestion/hope that with the rulebook finished and metal figures getting close to being finished then a 2 player battle box and metal starter hosts are in the works. With those released it will hopefully grow Darklands with retailers and the gaming community at large or at the very least attract more fans to back you in kickstarter.
If the new kickstarter is to raise funds to help launch these sets in the next few months then great. Keep up and the good work and don't worry I will be backing the new kickstarter whenever it does launch.
I feel like I summon the bad moods of Mierce, whenever I comment it seems to coincide with a less than diplomatic response.
I've long since accepted that Mierce are a kickstarter company. It has led to stunning models and the snippets of background I can grasp are compelling. However I can never grasp why the webstore has never had starter bundles, with or without discount, even in resin. I'm not demanding new models or anyhing crazy. I'm just confused as to why they don't exist to ease people into the game.
If you think this is moaning... can't really change that. I think youre wrong. I can only point out that this attitude of "we can do no more, stop pestering us!" is wrong. Sometimes people do want answers. Sometimes they want to vent. And sometimes they're just wanting to throw thoughts or hear echoes from similarly minded fans. Your communication is open and brilliant, however you're human so like us all you'll make ill thought out responses. I just feel you flip so quickly from amiable to.... something else.

This is fantastic news and my preference is for you to fully ship the rule books before shifting your focus to another Kickstarter. Will a week or two delay after Salute and shipping the RBs really be a huge setback?

You have produced some amazing minis in huge quantity. I dont think thats ever been in question.
One of the biggest asks has been to ship the rulebook. Wouldn't it be great not to have that question asked somewhere in the comments section of the latest KS? Granted its like the same 250 to 300 of us that will probably back it but it would be refreshing to not see it.
I have a ton of pending orders with you, I appreciate that you are a KS company, Id just like the check box of 'rules shipped' to not slip because of the focus necessary to run another successful KS campaign.
