RiTides wrote: Quick random question - were Peat Beasts unlocked in the prior campaign, or was it just some art that was shown?
They were just shown. And to continue with the theme of look what you could have had, I've got pictures of the two three of them so far if you want me to repost?
Yes, reposting would be awesome (you can spoiler tag them if you like if others have seen them, although it was a bit hard to track so maybe they'd appreciate the reminder, too!)
kendoka wrote: Any reason (other than the illustrator having no clue) why the right hand of these minis are turned 180 degrees wrong?
Spoiler:
When lifting the bow to a normal firing position they would either:
1. end up with the back of their right hand against the cheek (which could work if they had the arrow on the other side of the bow, asian style)
or
2. twist the bowstring one full turn (which obviously is impossible even in a fantasy setting).
Or are they supposed to be shooting the bow horisontally to the ground, gangsta style - but making it even more difficult to hit anything by releasing the arrow downwards despite having the arrow on the (in such a case) wrong side?
Confusing.
Actually Kendoka, that position actually works. I don't know how well, as I can't shoot a bow for gak, but this woman totally can.
If I ever meet her, I will ask her how that works right before I ask her to have all my babies forever.
More seriously though, apparently there are about a billion ways to hold a bow. I suppose it comes down a lot to the draw strength of the bow and whether you are going for range, accuracy, speed or power. I really don't know. But at least in this case it totally can work well.

With any luck, we'll get Allan Carrasco sculpting these like he did for Mórannach
Thank you! Will definitely be keeping an eye out for these in the future
Re: Archery, from the above and the video from earlier in the thread too, it looks legit!
Right, hold on to your hats, because they're about to do something that could ruin your wallet:
- Expect a Ysian Beast Mistress - Who's a sellsword - Who can bring almost any beast to work with different kindreds - And there'll be a supporting deal with different tears - i.e. pledge £100 on anything and get a free tier 1 monster all the way up to pledge £500 to get a free tier 8 monster (Angrislaug, the huge dragon was pictured at tier 8)
There's so many things I want from this kickstarter its going to be expensive.
I've not been able to afford everything from the New Kindreds and Metal Age kickstarters that I want yet, looks like I'll just be buying Darklands minis into next year at this rate
Really hope the sell-sword is either not based on the melusines or if it is at least a less comically endowed one. The other women produced for the Ys range are fantastic.
Now what monster to get - got to take advantage of her ability to select from any kindred.

Unhelmed Trytheorn
It's been ages since we showed any miniatures here, but it's your lucky day because we have one for you!
This week we have...
•sculpt work in progress images from Juan Navarro Pérez;
•a list of what miniatures are currently being sent in their various waves;
• an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
The awesome Juan Navarro Pérez has completed work on his magnum opus, Trytheorn, the ancestor of one of our most excellent backers, Tomas Johansson. Here's the final miniature, Unhelmed Trytheorn!
Unhelmed Trytheorn isn't yet with us so we're going to make him a Wave 10 shipment, just in case.
Last updated - 7th October 2015
The Darklands: First Edition rules are (just about) here!
The rules are in their final stage - correcting errors and proof-reading, mainly - and we just haven't had time to get the last few actions (Dive, Swoop, Drop, Bind and Unbind) and reactions (Engagement and Counter-Engage) sorted yet - but we hope to have those ready for you by the end of next week, and maybe a sneak peek at a couple of pages of the full rulebook.
The rules are also at the stage where we have passed them to our artworker to get them ready for print. This will necessarily take a few weeks, but we are hopeful that by the end of October or early November (when Rob gets back from his holiday) they will be ready to send to the printers.
Please be patient, and thank you for your patience already - we are getting there!

Brontull
The amazing Dan Cockersell continues to amaze us with his amazing work on the fantabulous Brontull...
Brontull has exceeded our expectations, possibly more so even than Erebius on his Behema. He's just an awesome, amazing miniature - and totally complete. Dan Cockersell, we salute you!
Brontull will be a Wave 10 shipment!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Definitely an infernal flavour this week
Judas
Here we are with a lovely update for you all on this fine Mierceday!
As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules sorted. Although this one is a week late... well, we've been hanging on for some juicy WIPs!
This week we have...
•sculpt work in progress images from Yannick Hennebo;
•a list of what miniatures are currently being sent in their various waves;
• an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
The awesome Yannick Hennebo has begun proceedings upon our amazing Demilegionarius unit, In III Judas... starting with Judas himself! The Demilegionarii champion, or Demidecanus, Judas is a mighty warrior in his own right and well on the road to fiend-hood... just the one image so far, but he's looking mightily awesome!
These guys will no doubt be a Wave 10 shipment, but the wait will definitely be worth it!
Is been a while since the last one, simply because we've been so busy, and there's been nothing to show... but here we are with some progress!
This week we have: •sculpt work in progress updates from Tim Prow; •an idea of what will ship, and when; •a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project; •...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
The lovely Tim Prow has begun work on the Orcs for the Wyvern riders...
It's early days for the Orc Warlord on Wyvern, but Tim Prow assures us that the rider will be completed next week!
This means that, hopefully, the Orc Warlord on Wyvern will be a Wave 10 shipment; as we do have to cast the rider and send it back to Tim Prow to get the foot version done.
Tim's also started work on the Orc Shaman on Wyvern - and again, it should be done next week, apparently!
This means that, hopefully, the Orc Shaman on Wyvern will be a Wave 10 shipment; as we do have to cast the rider and send it back to Tim Prow to get the foot version done.
Wave 6, 7 and 8 shipments are ongoing
Thanks to Tim (our master moulder)'s operation, the recovery from which has not always been smooth, our moulding schedule has been put back by at least two months - which means Wave 6 and 7 shipments are ongoing and will be for some time, and we've also just started shipping the first Wave 8 items. You should be receiving the Plague Demon and Dark Elf Lord very soon!
We will try to get everything out as soon as we can, but there's a lot to ship - and as always we prioritise orders in date sequence; i.e., if you ordered early, you'll get your stuff sent early.
What we're saying, basically, is - please be patient! We are doing everything as fast as we can without compromising on quality.
The Dark Elf Rider with Sword
Unfortunately, Gary Morely cannot sculpt the Dark Elf Rider with Sword due to circumstances beyond his control.
Now, we have taken the decision to ship the Dark Elf Lord on Dragon instead of the Dark Elf Rider with Sword, and so anybody who has ordered the latter will get the original miniature. We have done this simply because we want to get your miniatures to you as soon as we can.
We'll keep this list updated every, er, update. • SHIPMENT WAVE 0: (complete): Existing miniatures. • SHIPMENT WAVE 7 (beginning June 2015): Orc Warlord on Foot with Two Axes - Warlock, Wizard - Plague Priest - Master Converter Kemp-Kemp - War Demon - War Demon with Two Axes - Rat Beast - Rat Beast with Two Tails and Spine Shards - Rat Fiend - Rat Fiend with Mole-Rat Head - Ogre Drake - Unhelmed Ogre Drake with Axe - Ox-Gore - Ox-Gore with Club and Morning Star - Pleasure Demon - Pleasure Demon with Swords • SHIPMENT WAVE 8 (August 2015): Plague Demon - Plague Demon with Eye and Cleaver - Dark Elf Lord on Dragon • SHIPMENT WAVE 10 (January 2016): Orc Warlord on Wyvern - Orc Warlord on Foot - Orc Warlord with Great Weapon and Heavy Armour rider - Orc Warlord with Great Weapon and Heavy Armour on Foot - Orc Shaman rider - Orc Shaman on Foot - Orc Feral Shaman rider - Orc Feral Shaman on Foot
Items in bold will DEFINITELY be sent in that wave as we have the sculpt; items in italics are in progress and should make it into that wave, but we don't yet have the sculpt.
As there's still plenty you can purchase from BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters, not least of which are the various hosts, we though it would be a good idea to outline exactly how long you've got to purchase everything. • Wave 10: items from Wave 10 will be removed from the website at the end of December. • Individual Miniatures: until they ship!
Keep watching this list as it may well change - and if you have any issues with the above timings, please let us know and we may well be able to push the deadline back a little for you.
Here's the big list of who's sculpting what and when for BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters! Please bear in mind that this list may change over time, so don't take it as set in stone until the first work in progress shots appear. • TIM PROW: Due to Gary's unavailability, we've had to give Tim the Orc riders for the Wyvern, as well as the foot versions.
There's a fair few to do but the boys have already eaten into them!
We thought this would be a good idea, as things are cracking on - a list of completed sculpts, in kindred order!
Completed sculpts are in bold; in progress sculpts are in italics. • BEASTS: Ox-Gore - Ox-Gore with Club and Morning Star • CHAOS: Warlock - Plague Priest - Ogre Drake - Unhelmed Ogre Drake with Axe - Pleasure Demon - Pleasure Demon with Swords - War Demon - War Demon with Two Axes - Plague Demon - Plague Demon with Eye and Cleaver •DARK ELVES: Dark Elf Lord on Dragon • HUMANS: Wizard •ORCS & GOBLINS: Orc Warlord on Foot with Two Axes - Orc Warlord on Wyvern - Orc Warlord on Foot - Orc Warlord with Great Weapon and Heavy Armour rider - Orc Warlord with Great Weapon and Heavy Armour on Foot - Orc Shaman on Wyvern - Orc Shaman on Foot, Orc Feral Shaman on Wyvern rider - Orc Feral Shaman on Foot • RATS: Master Converter Kemp-Kemp - Rat Beast - Rat Beast with Two Tails and Spine Shards - Rat Fiend - Rat Fiend with Mole-Rat Head
New Kindreds and oh my god. If you were unsure about Jutes before...
Men and Trolls
Here we are with a lovely update for you all on this fine Mierceday!
As stated previously, we are now updating you every other Friday (bi-weekly if you will) to ensure we can spend more time getting the Darklands rules sorted. Although this one is a week late... well, we've been hanging on for some juicy WIPs!
This week we have: •sculpt work in progress updates from Allan Carrasco and Jacques-Alexandre Gillois; •an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project; •...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Here we go...
We have some lovely miniatures for you today, for the Jutes (Jacques-Alexandre Gillois) and Norse (Allan Carrasco), to be precise!
It's been a long while since we've seen anything from Jacques-Alexandre Gillois, but the wait has definitely been worth it, because Eormanræd - our superb Jute Forthain - is simply breathaking. If you haven't already purchased him - well, why haven't you?
Eormanræd will be a Wave 10 shipment now.
Similarly, it's been a while since we've seen anything from Allan Carrasco. So let's put that right, and show you something from him!
Torleik is the only warrior from the Trolls of Norrheim to be a completely new sculpt, for the be-two-weaponed Vörtun and Gjöll miniatures will be alternates of the originals (also sorted by Allan).
Torleik will be a Wave 10 shipment, and we hope that Allan will be able to get the two weapon versions of Vörtun and Gjöll sorted for then, too!
Also, Heldred and Hooded Heldred for the Jutes is confirmed to be done, but they don't have the pictures yet - next time...
Automatically Appended Next Post: And something unexpected from Metal Age:
Snorting Toracx
Here we are with a lovely update for you all on this fine Mierceday! This is the first "proper" update with some miniature loveliness to show you... This week we have: •sculpt work in progress updates from Benoît Cosse; •an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project; •...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Here we go...
Our first set of WIPs for this project comes from the awesomeness of Benoît Cosse!
With Benoît's work on other projects complete, we thought we may as well give him the Snorting Toracx - the two new Toracx to join Báintaac to make a unit...!
Remember that these guys were part of the Fomoraic Warriors of Baalor Infantry Host...
You can still purchase that infantry host from the Darklands: Metal Age category, of course!
Taachka is the unit's champion and has an extra pair of tusks to prove it!
This guy looks very mean indeed...
Let's not forget about the existing Toracx, Báintaac...
He's very nice anyway!
The last Toracx to make up the unit of three is Ckamaac!
The Snorting Toracx will definitely be a Wave 10 shipment.
In production!
Thanks to Tim (our master moulder)'s operation, the recovery from which has not always been smooth, our moulding schedule has been put back by at least two months - which means the hosts have taken a little while to put together for the casters.
Tim has to re-mould pretty much everything in a host to get the best copy together to send to the metal casters, and this takes time; but he's sorted the Ax-Drune Infantry Host and has just about done the Duguth Infantry Host. We're still waiting on miniatures to complete the other hosts for the first wave, but Benoît Cosse is working on the alternate Gabrax and Tarvax as we speak, and the other hosts are in progress (Valentin Zak should have something for us regarding the Tuanagh soon, and the Teulu and Norse aren't far behind).
The good thing with production is that we can ship the hosts almost immediately after they are done - so watch for the next update, because we should have the Ax-Drunes very quickly...
Well dang, I'm really a fan of those two new Toracx. But there's no way to pledge for them in the current campaign, right? Or to buy them individually? I see that 3 could be bought for £41 in the Metal Age campaign, but I think that was in metal rather than resin... is there a resin price?
The problem, as usual, is that I have a project that the models are needed for by the end of the year, and I have no idea when I'd get these if pledging for wave 10, particularly since a lot of folks would have already locked down their pledges for that wave. For now, I snagged several of these oldschool GW metal rhinox models (without the howdah on the back):
They should work fine for my purposes, but these sculpts are so much more dynamic! The only one I don't like is the original, which I don't think was converted as well (it was nearly identical to Chaagmuth jaw-taker's mount, but with the straps and head pieces covered up it ended up looking too generic). Instead I picked up several Jaw-takers to steal their mounts from
Okay, let me know if there is any way to pledge for these guys in resin and if their resin cost is known.

A quick look in the Metal Age store category and I can see that the 3 in metal are £36 and 3 in resin are £45. Couldn't see them available individually, just as a group. They'll most likely be sent out next year, Jan/Feb time but you can pledge for them in this campaign and drop Mierce a quick note asking to be able to purchase them from metal age - they're very liberal when it comes to adding late backers. I've never seen them say no either way
We've just about smashed up the Angleycnn Ceorl so it's time to move that total on with something very cool indeed for you all... Alix of Carn Bran, an Ysian Beast-Master and Sell-Sword that also gives you a free monster when you purchase her!
Alix of Carn Bran is an Ysian Beast-Master of dark renown, a beauty with the beast - for she is never seen without a monstrous creature alongside her, a beast that bends to her will and acts both as protector and enforcer.
Sell-Sword
Alix is a sell-sword and will work for any kindred, and she can bring a monster of any kindred to battle with her, although that monster must be included within her command and so it would be a sell-sword like her. Bear in mind that allied contingents are limited to a third of the gold size of your host, so if your host is 2,000 gold strong you have 666 gold to spend on Alix and her monster.
FREE MONSTER!
To that end, if you purchase Alix during this project - and if we get to 300 backers - you will also gain yourself a free monstrous beast, chosen from the graphic below!
The free monster you can choose is dependent upon your pledge level. If you have pledged £300 here, you can choose one free monster of the number 5 - such as Mjagnir - or any one monster of a lower number. You cannot choose monsters of a higher number than that allowed by your pledge level.
Note that this offer is limited to what you can pledge on this project, here and now, so even if you pledge £100 here and £200 afterwards you will only be entitled to a monster of a number equal to the £100 pledge level.
How do I get my free monster?
All you need do is purchase the Alix of Carn Bran item from the Mierce Miniatures webstore after the project ends, and let us know which free monster you require in the "special instructions" box when you go through the basket.
Free Monster offer is "One per Backer" and limited to this project
The free monster offer is limited to one per backer; you cannot purchase multiple Alix of Carn Bran and gain multiple free monsters. You can still purchase more than one Alix if you wish, but you'll only get one free monster!
Alix uses living monsters only
In game terms, whilst Alix can only use living monsters within her command, constructs such as the Atalantes' Talos and the Albainn Goghu are included if you fancy those as your free monster.
point out that they can jump in for only £10 (which will get them access to the pledge manager),
and then up to a 'full sized' pledge if we hit the 300 backer target for the option to buy the sell sword and get the free monster (as long as they increase their pledge before the end of the project)
I wish the monster deal extended post Kickstarter, I would easily go to £500. Mierce always find a way to launch a kickstarter that ends at the most awkward time for me Also really liking Judas. Tempts me out of my Britain only preferences.
I'm more concerned that if we're not at or near that '300 backer' goal by the last day that we could see some serious backsliding on that pledge total.
I can understand *why* Mierce set it at 300, but I wish it was more like 275...or 250!
I'm not sure I'll be staying in at the full amount I've got in there now if that '300 backer' goal isn't reached.
I'll certainly still be in - but possibly not for as much now - though inevitably for much more later, in the PM!
Have patience guys - we'll get there, there's two days to go yet. It's the weekend, weekends are always dead. That total and backer total will start moving tomorrow afternoon.
Getting closer. We're £101 away from the £35k (and the Norse host) and are currently taking a vote in the comments for the next stretch goal to appear after the £40k Érainn goal. Also, we're 37 backers away from the 300 backer free monster goal...
Because she's being commissioned for this projects specifically so that needs to be paid for, art & sculpting & moulding/casting for both resin and metal version
the other individual human sized minis are already sculpted and in production in resin, so all that has to be paid for is the metal moulding/casting
Same applies for all the others. By that logic Alix will drop to £6 in the future, or all heros will be £15 in metal and resin (unless the art / sculpts / moulds for the others was free).
I've chipped in £10, I'm sure I'll find something. Besides, closer to 300 backers, the more likely more backers will join. Interestingly I dropped earlier preferring to wait for retail. But I'm impressed at what's been unlocked.
I'll stay in at GBP 10 (or 20, in the end) for the Fomoraic exclusive (and to not screw y'all on the Alix/monster stretch ) but since that Savrar stretch is not going to be even remotely within reach I can't really find a way to stretch to any free monster level, sadly.
You should definitely keep a toe in - but also keep in mind that what you end up pledging during the campaign will determine what 'freebie level' you get.
I'll definitely Pledge for at least £10, but I'm not sure what the incentive is to pledge for more during the campaign if I have no intention of purchasing Alix?

It's pure guesswork on my behalf! I try to look at who're they're currently using and are impressed by. I get the feeling the speed and quality of the Jute pieces surprised them quite a lot.
Ah, I thought you meant they had reshuffled the Savrar to that position - that would have been a lot more enticing!
I think this'll help though. And, I am quietly optimistic that the we will actually reach the Savrar. We're 18 backers away from the free monster stretch and, when that hits, we should see a lot of people boost their pledges. Also, all other "Bigger" Mierce Kickstarters did over £10k on the last days. Although this hasn't the total funding of the last bunch, I reckon we should see a good chunk pledged.

Me too - the Jutes stuff shown to date is amazing.
So much so that I've add yet another Kindred to my list!

Even if you don't actually want her, as long as you want one of the level 1 beasts you can pick you'll save money over all, £15 pair for her get you a £27 (metal) or £34 (resin) beast thus saving you £12 or £19, plus you have a mini to sell/swap/give away/stick in the bits box
(and if you ever play the game she looks to be a great character to have allowing you to bring a 'non kindred' beast to the fight
Quick, someone tell Mierce to get some lizard guys on the menu. RiTides needs to get enticed in so I can pile on his pledge for a beast mistress and monster.
JWBS wrote: Same applies for all the others. By that logic Alix will drop to £6 in the future, or all heros will be £15 in metal and resin (unless the art / sculpts / moulds for the others was free).
The resin and metal price is the same, which is odd. Maybe it was supposed to be £10 in metal like Uthred and the other LE sellswords? Either way, it's nto a big deal since they don't come with a £32+ monster. It's essentially subsidizing the beast during this campaign. If they offer her afterwards, maybe the price will drop.
298 backers and over 41k currently with 12 hours to go. Hopefully now that (when 2 backers join) the monsters are unlocked, we see some people boost their pledges (and more joiners) in the morning.
I think there's a very good chance of hitting 45k, but I'd love for this to explode and hit 50k. The deal for this is close to as good as any of the Mierce kickstarters (not much worse than Monstrous Mounts, but much more flexible).
Undead_Love-Machine wrote: I'll definitely Pledge for at least £10, but I'm not sure what the incentive is to pledge for more during the campaign if I have no intention of purchasing Alix?
Well, a free monster for 15 pounds seems like a fair deal. Yes, you might not want Alix but who doesnt one of Mierces big monsters? See it as a tax you have to pay to get something for free.

It's not quite 'free' as you have to buy Alix at £15, and then pledge at least £100 to qualify for a free monster.
Still a good deal, but just wanted to make it clear!
Wow, it's going to make it! Maybe to both Savrar units, but the first is the really cool one, imo. I just have a token pledge in but I am very much looking forward to following the sculpting progress here!
50K hit and the Savrar unlocked. Less than an hour left then it's free monster time for everybody!
(disclaimer - 1 Alix miniature must be bought for free monster)
I actually wound up dropping my pledge to £10 then giving my actual pledge money to my buddy, to combine into his pledge, allowing him to up his pledge to £300 so he could get a tier 5 monster (he's just gotten into Darklands after seeing my years worth of collection, so I figured I'd help him out)
Henry wrote: 50K hit and the Savrar unlocked. Less than an hour left then it's free monster time for everybody!

Disclaimer - you also have to spend at least 100GBP too!
That was an awesome finish, congrats to Mierce! Nice of them to unlock the variant Savrar unit, too (and makes sense if they're already sculpting one type). I'm interested to see how they look when designed for the smaller 30mm bases, hopefully still dynamic / not too small. Should be doable if they don't mind having their arms / tails extending off the bases.

Rob is back and has taken a brief break from email answering etc to pop a comment on the Metal Age KS comments
there are going to be some unavoidable changes to the shipment schedule, unavoidable for many reasons (some of which just not in our control). I will do this properly next week, when I do an update here, but here's a brief summation:
Albainn Gairlom: February 2016 - Valentin Zak is working on the Gairlom as we speak
Anglecynn Duguth: before Christmas 2015 hopefully - in production
Anglecynn Gesith: February 2016 - Gesith alternates required
Atalantes Oplites: February 2016 - unsculpted, but sculpting should begin at the end of November
Brythoniaid Teulu: February 2016 - Teulu alternates required
Brythoniaid Rhyfelwr: before Christmas 2015 hopefully - in production
Byzantii Legionarius: February 2016 - Legionarius alternates required
Byzantii Demilegionarius: February 2016 - unsculpted, In III Judas in progress
Érainn Tuanagh: February 2016 - all sculpted, Fen Beasts not received yet
Fomoraic Gabrax: February 2016 - all sculpted, Gabrax alternates not received yet
Fomoraic Warriors of Baalor: February 2016 - Warrior alternates required
Jute Wihtgar: February 2016 - all sculpted, 3D prints not received yet
Norse Holumann: February 2016 - Holumenn alternates not yet sculpted
Ysian Ax-Drunes: next week - except the Brutes, which will follow in metal later
Ysian Bow-Drunes: before Christmas 2015 - in production
As you can see, there's some other hosts in production where some have to be put back, and others are evolving quicker or slower than before.
Again, I'll make sure this is clear in the next update here.
You must bear in mind, here, that shipments WILL depend on your shipment items regardless of the above changes, so if you've not got enough shipment items, we can't guarantee a shipment on time.
Also bear in mind that Tim has to re-mould (from the master) every sculpt again so that we get perfect copies for the metal casters. This takes time, and impacts on other production! So even if we have everything with us, there's no guarantees we can get things done on time.
As always, please be patient - this metal lark is all new to us. We are getting there!
After a bit of a hiatus thanks to a holiday and being very busy afterwards, it's time for an update on progress for this project!
This week we have...
•sculpt work in progress images from Benoît Cosse, Yannick Hennebo and Valentin Zak;
•a list of what miniatures are currently being sent in their various waves;
• an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
The last stragglers from this project are getting done, and done well - by Valentin Zak and Benoît Cosse and Yannick Hennebo!
It's been a while since we've seen anything from Valentin Zak but the wait has definitely been worth it.
Who would think that hairy-arsed Picts could look so good?
Brusta is the champion of the unit and he is looking mean and moody...
He should be finished shortly.
The unit's bannerman goes by the name of Nectan and he's certainly grim!
Grim he may be, but what a miniature.
The Gairlom herald is one Fidaich...
He blows horn!
The first warrior of the unit is called Oinuist...
Another mean looking feller!
These Gairlom warriors look brilliant - see Smertae for evidence!
We're hopeful that these guys will be a Wave 10 shipment, but we'll see. There's the bannerman and herald alternates to do yet, too!
It's been even longer since we've heard anything about the lovely Rēoc's Pack... but, once again, the wait has been worth it. Taken over by Benoît Cosse, these wolves look the part for sure - although, as always with BN, his images leave a little to be desired...
The champion of the unit, Rēoc (pronounced "Ree-ok") is in great shape...
Yes, that's a 40mm round circle (well, technically 36mm, as of course the base has a surround)...
Brega (pronounced "Brey-a") is a nasty looking feller...
We're loving that fur!
The last warrior of the unit is Hædo (pronounced "Ha-doh"), and he's a bit snarly!
Rēoc's Pack should make it into Wave 10, we hope...
The fantastic sculptor known as Yannick Hennebo has completed the first miniature from the Demilegionarius unit... the champion, Judas!
What a sculpt. Breathtaking! Judas is everything we could have wished for, and more...
We're hoping In III Judas will be a Wave 10 shipment, but with four miniatures to go that might be stretching things.

Birds and Rats
After a bit of a hiatus thanks to a holiday and being very busy afterwards, it's time for an update on progress for this project!
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress images from Roberto Chaudon and Yannick Fusier;
•a list of what miniatures are sent in what waves, and that Wave 6, 7, 8 and 9 shipments have begun;
• a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
We've two miniatures to show you in this update, for the Norse (by Roberto Chaudon) and the Vras (Yannick Fusier)... both bloody brilliant!
It seems that one of Roberto Chaudon's great strengths is, well, birds! When we first gave him the Norse war birds we thought they'd be good, but now we'll never give any birdy types to anyone else... see Vaenhildr, our superb Fellhrafn, for evidence!
...and here's Vaenhildr in her natural habitat...
Vaenhildr will be a Wave 10 shipment, and of course this means Allan Carrasco will be sculpting Birna on Fellhrafn soon... we hope.
Yannick is cracking on with Blunt-Claw and his Goz-Horror... for this update, some armour plating and accessories for the Goz-Horror!
We do hope that he'll be a Wave 10 shipment, but Yannick is always busy around Christmas time as he does a lot of nativity work.
I love Roberto's work, but boy do I ever wish he'd wrap up some of the older outstanding sculpts he's got in his work que.
I wish that armored Mag Ap Mag had a *little* more armor. Maybe on his chest or legs or something. I still like the armored one more than the original, what with the big rock mallet and all.

The flappy birdy was basically the oldest thing he had in his work queue other than Srok, and he needed a good cast of frenzied Srok (done first as he has less armour) to base that on which I would think is one of the things Tim's not been able to get round to (until recently?) after his operation
I'll be excited when he can make a proper start on his big list from New Kindreds...... Dynwoccor and Demon-camels yes please

We have a lovely update for you today, on this fine Mierceday in November. This week we have...
•sculpt work in progress images from Roberto Chaudon, Yannick Hennebo and Valentin Zak;
•a list of what miniatures are currently being sent in their various waves;
• an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
It's the Valentin Zak, Roberto Chaudon and Yannick Hennebo show!
The amazing Valentin Zak has now completed the equally amazing Gairlom Unit, and we are ecstatic, because they're... well, amazing!
Again, who would think that hairy-arsed Picts could look so good?
Brusta is the champion of the unit and he is looking mean and moody...
He's now complete!
The unit's bannerman goes by the name of Nectan and he's certainly grim!
Nectan's complete now, too...
The Gairlom herald is one Fidaich...
...he blows horn, and he's done!
The first warrior of the unit is called Oinuist...
...he loves to run!
These Gairlom warriors look brilliant - see Smertae for evidence!
The Gairlom are now complete and will be a Wave 10 shipment! There's the bannerman and herald alternates to do yet, but they're for Darklands: New Kindreds so we'll ship the FE2 Gairlom out before them.
In our quest to get Yannick Hennebo to sculpt as much as possible, here's the next Demilegionarius in the Incaendium...
Yannick's done it again. Check out Nazarius! How something can be so grotesque and yet so beautiful we haven't yet worked out...
Again, we're hoping the whole unit will be a Wave 10 shipment, but there's still three miniatures to go...
The lovely Roberto Chaudon has now completed Srók! If you remember, he did Frenzied Srók first, as it's always easier to add a helmet to a sculpt than remove one.
Srók will be a Wave 10 shipment.

It's time for an update here, monstrous mount lovers!
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress images from Yannick Fusier;

• a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;

Let's begin!
Just the one miniature to show you this time, for the Vras... by Yannick Fusier!
Even though Yannick hasn't yet sorted out Blunt-Claw's... well, blunt claw, the mighty Vras Warlord is looking a lot happier now he's got all his cooking utensils!
We do hope that he'll be a Wave 10 shipment, but Yannick is always busy around Christmas time as he does a lot of nativity work.
Following on from the last update, here's another, on this fine Blaec Frīġedæġ!
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Yannick Hennebo, Luc Pinganaud and Valentin Zak;
•an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Here we go...
We have a new miniature from Yannick Hennebo this week, and some alternates from Luc Pinganaud and Valentin Zak!
Valentin Zak has completed work on the Cormac alternate, too - he is now standing on a big fat Gabrax he's just killed!
Cormac on Gabrax will be a Wave 10 shipment.
Luc Pinganaud has cracked on with the alternate bannerman and herald from the The Eye Ascendant, Warriors of Baalor Unit, and they're now complete!
Lalaan is the alternate version of the Warriors of Baalor banner bearer...
Luc's done a great job on this guy.
The alternate version of the banner bearer is the lovely Gaarnul...
The Eye Ascendant alternate warriors will be a Wave 10 shipment, of course.
There's always time for more Yannick Hennebo awesomeness. Here's his latest masterpiece, Bareheaded Ætulla for the Jutes... I think we can safely say that, as a range, the Jutes are our best work so far.
He'll be a Wave 10 shipment - and hopefully the hooded version of Ætulla will be, too...
Luc has also completed work on the alternate banner bearer and herald of the Hrafnen Crew, the Holumann Unit!
Sveinn is a lovely man and the brother of Snorri, the banner bearer...
He is looking great!
Ivarr is the alternate version of Gunnar, the Holumann Herald...
Another day for mierce to move stoically, relentlessly forward. Another day for Jeremy Creature Caster Glen to do **** all with the money I gave him some time in the first half of this decade.
At least I expect Creature Caster Jeremy to deliver at some point, unlike Jody Siegal of Imbrian Arts.
Anyway, does this mean that the original Eye Ascendant Warriors of Balor figures are finally complete? It seems like I've been waiting for them (and my order to ship) since the dawn of time.
so either you've run out of 'wave' shipping for that KS and are having to wait until it's totally finished (or you pay for another wave, email Rob and he'll let you know if that's the case)
or it's part of the 'tim's operation' roadblock that's been holding up a bunch of stuff
but some of the weapon shafts are pretty thin and fragile so for gaming I'd be looking to replace those with wire (the hands are pretty true-scale too)..
not a big issue with resin, but a bit of a faf
(they were digital sculpts and I don't think a physical sculptor would have tried anything that small)
Edit: it's good to see this isn't going to be an issue with any of the Jutes we've seen so far, all the stuff is chunky enough to be solid when cast

Thanks for the info, if they are a little too delicate I don't mind doing a few weapon swaps.
The Jutes look fantastic so far, I'm very much looking forward to receiving them too at some point!

Mine arrived on the 22nd August and still haven't been built! My initial impression of them was that the detail on the faces was a bit soft, so I fired off an email to Mierce who assured me it was down to the material (which is a darker colour to the usual stuff I get) and that the detail would show up fine once primed. I haven't got round to verifying that yet!
Get Trampling Maatmäg now - before it's too late!
Pre-ordering Trampling Maatmäg now is the only way to get hold of him, for once this pre-order offer ends - at midnight (GMT) tonight, Monday the 14th of December 2015 - it will not be offered again{I resume this is the low price, scenic base and £15 cashback to get another mini}. If you want something unique and fantastic for your collection or your host, get hold of Trampling Maatmäg now - before it's too late!
That will most likely be an absolutely spectacular mini but jeez £100 is a lot of cash. I'm also kind of wondering how many of these will actually be sold if it will truly retail for £150 - I can see people forking out that kind of money for enormous demons and dragons (Krull, Angrislaug), but is the mammoth market really that proliferative?
Is it a trick of the light or does the infantry base have a designated arc? Wehrkind has been making me custom ones of for a while (designed by Jin), but would love to see that become more widespread on small bases!
I find it difficult to keep up with the KS comment threads. I scanned and saw rumors of cavalry again? What are the teasers being tossed out for this next KS?
It should paginate so that you get facing pages on Chrome, but doesn't. It does it offline though, so I recommend you download it rather than view it in a browser.

Okay... here's (most of) the full rules document. I won't now have time to get an update done before next week, so you'll have to make do with a link here for now. Sorry guys - but Windows Update did for my plans this morning.
Okay, the rules...
Section 1 is missing as that contains background and you'll have to wait for the full rulebook for that. I have to keep your powders dry for something! Sections 2-6 are there. Section 7 will follow next week.
This PDF is pretty much as you see it (in the actual rulebook), except for a coloured background and each frame will be a scroll, as per the QuickStarter rules.
I would ask you to download the file rather than view on your browser; also, please switch to "double page view" on your PDF reader as its intended to be read like that. I'm no PDF wizard, maybe I can embed that as a default or something, too tired to find out right now.
The rulebook should be around 330 pages long, maybe a bit more as I have to add the reactions section which I haven't paginated yet. There'll be around 20 pages of introduction and background.
The rules themselves are nailed on, as you see them in the document; so these are the final rules for Darklands: First Edition. There will be a couple more examples and diagrams here and there if I get the time, as well as a bit of nice artwork on the blank pages you see.
Now, I will get a chance to correct any typos or errors before printing, which I'm afraid are inevitable; but you'd best be quick to let me know... or they'll be corrected in errata next year!
I think it is going to the printer sometime in January, and should be in our hands sometime in Feb/March, depending on where we all live, I think!
Master of timing, as always. I just hope they're using the same gorgeously purple descriptions for units that they used for the original bunch of miniatures.
Merry Christmas, one and all - and Happy New Year, too, because this is the last update before 2016 as we're off for a good rest. We think we deserve it!
'Tis the season to be jolly, so here's a few miniatures to be jolly over... this week we have: •sculpt work in progress images from Stéphane Camosseto, Benoît Cosse and Yannick Hennebo; •a list of what miniatures are currently being sent in their various waves; • an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
We have some miniatures for the Anglecynn (by Stéphane Camosseto and Benoît Cosse) and one for the Byzantii this week...
The fantastic Stéphane Camosseto has been hard at work on Armoured Hrōr, and we are very happy with the result. Werwulf Thegns have never looked better!
As we can only show head and left arm with shield, here's the original Hrōr so you can see how amazing Armoured Hrōr is going to be!
Armoured Hrōr should be a Wave 10 shipment.
Benoît Cosse and his protégé Martin Lavat has been hard at work on Reoc's Pack and - huzzah! - they're now complete!
The champion of the unit - the alpha, if you will - is Rēoc , and he is looking awesome...
Wave 10 for this fella!
The second Frēawulf , Brega, is equally awesome...
We're very glad we waited to get Benoît and Martin to sculpt these!
The snarly Hædo is the last warrior of the unit...
We can happily state that Reoc's Pack will definitely be a Wave 10 shipment!
There are few words that can describe Yannick Hennebo's work on In III Judas, the Demilegionary Incaendium. Stupendous is one of them...
Here's Martis, the third warrior of In III Judas, and possibly the most freakish of them...
Again, we're hoping the whole unit will be a Wave 10 shipment, but there's still two miniatures to go...
Monstrous Mounts has an update and it's Blunt Claw - it's pretty brutal. Here's the main piccie and I'll link to the rest:
Rob if you're reading this, what's up with mighty monsters 2? I backed this project in April and it was supposed to ship in August. It's already 4 months overdue and that was with an expected project length of 4 months if I read it correctly. Haven't had a shipment from you in ages.
Merry Christmas, one and all - and Happy New Year, too, because this is the last update before 2016 as we're off for a good rest. We think we deserve it!

Here we go...
It's all alternates this week, by Stéphane Camosseto and Luc Pinganaud!
The awesome Eoric's Pack is now complete as Stéphane Camosseto has brought his attentions to bear on the last remaining warrior...
The conversion of the banner bearer Sigebald into a warrior, Siweard, is done!
Siweard will be a Wave 10 shipment.
Luc Pinganaud is our current go-to guy for the alternate warrior conversions, as you've probably guessed. Here's his work on the Loyal Guard, Teulu Unit!
The alternate version of the banner bearer, Gryf, is complete!
He will be a Wave 10 shipment.
Iorwerth is the alternate version of the herald, and he's looking very mean.
Again, this guy - and so the Teulu as a whole - will be a Wave 10 shipment!
Luc has also completed work on the three alternates for Con I Modius, the Legionarius Contubernium!
A tricky one, this - converting a man into a woman - but Tiberia certainly looks the part!
She'll be Wave 10, we think.
Serena is a simple conversion of Severa, but no less cool for all that...
Wave 10!
Geraldus is a conversion of Gellius and he looks very cool!
The Con I Modius is now complete, with eight different warriors. Wave 10, here they come...

Merry Christmas, one and all - and Happy New Year, too, because this is the last update before 2016 as we're off for a good rest.
Unfortunately there's no miniatures to show off, but this week we do have:
This week we have:
an idea of what will ship, and when; a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project; ...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months. Let's begin!
Wave 8 and 9 shipments are ongoing
Thanks to Tim (our master moulder)'s operation, the recovery from which has not always been smooth, our moulding schedule has been put back by at least two months - which means Wave 8 shipments are ongoing and will be for some time, and we've also just started shipping the first Wave 9 items. There may well be a few stragglers for Waves 6 and 7, but we should clear those in January as long as the shipment items are there.
Tim Prow taking on Gary Morley's work
Unfortunately Gary Morley cannot now complete any of his remaining sculpts as he is ill, and so Tim Prow has kindly agreed to take over from Gary.
Unfortunately Tim has other commitments - not least his own Kickstarter project - and he will also be completing the Orcs for BaneBeasts Part Un; but once they're done he'll be starting on the miniatures from this project.
Now, we are looking around for more sculptors to help with this project, but it's difficult to find one who has availability right now and comes in at the right price. In short, we expect Part Deux to begin properly in early 2016, and we'll be showing some lovely miniatures as time progresses.
We'll keep this list updated every, er, update.
SHIPMENT WAVE 0: (complete): Existing miniatures. SHIPMENT WAVE 8 (August 2015): Stone Beast / Ettu - Ice Elemental / Skaadi SHIPMENT WAVE 11 (Aprl 2016): Phoenix Demon - Chimera - Demon Prince of War - Demon Prince of Pleasure - Phoenix Demon Prince - Demon Prince of Plague - Giant - Chaos Giant - Orc Giant Items in bold will DEFINITELY be sent in that wave as we have the sculpt; items in italics are in progress and should make it into that wave, but we don't yet have the sculpt.

The Ax-Drunes have shipped
The good news is that the metal Ax-Drunes (minus the Brutes unfortunately) have now completely shipped, as long as you had enough shipment items of course. If you haven't - purchase one and let us know!
The Duguth and Rhyfelwr have landed!
We've just (today!) received the production casts of the Duguth Infantry Starter Host and the Rhyfelwr Infantry Starter Host, and whilst we're now off for Christmas they'll ship to you when we get back... again, as long as you have enough shipment items of course.
Duguth Metals
Rhyfelwr Metals
Thus, from January the 4th onwards, you'll start receiving your Duguth and Rhyfelwr!
What's Next?
We're expecting the first sets of the Bow-Drune Infantry Host in January, as the casters have had those for a while.
The casters will be moulding most of the other infantry hosts in January or February - as almost everything for those hosts are sculpted - with only the Anglecynn Gesith (awaiting the new Æthelglyth and alternate warriors), Byzantii Demilegionarius and Atalantes Oplites infantry hosts definitely not ready for Wave 10.

Yeah, and the slippage isn't due to a casting backlog, but lack of getting things sculpted... same has been true of Monstrous Mounts (with different sculptors).
That said, man was Blunt-Claw ever worth the wait - that model is crazy! So much detail, I will be interested to see someone paint it up (although I think for myself I would pick up the simpler unridden version if I ever find a use for it )
GiraffeX wrote: A quick rules question can you have two monstrous beasts in the same army?
I have Khallas but Krekkek looks like a nice model as well and I wanted to know if I could use them together.
Thanks
Depends.
First, what's your size of battle? The bigger the battle, the more you are allowed. Next, have a look at the beasts Ubiquity (Uncommon/Rare/Mythic) in their muster and finally, take a look at the muster list, page 17 and look at the Ubiquity limits table.
For example, 500-999 gold is a skirmish and are allowed 0-1 rare 1000-1499 is a battle and they can have 0-2 rares

Thanks zed thats makes sense I had missed that table, I really hate pdf's. It has brought up another question though in the same area.
I have Thelliatiss who is a Gorgon leading my party
She leads my troops a Dawn of Khthon, Gorgórar unit, which are Gorgons.
Khallas has two kindred profiles so I'm guessing I have to choose Gorgon which makes him rare, if I could choose Ydron he would be Uncommon.
Krekkek also has two kindred profiles so I'm guessing I have to choose Gorgon again which makes him rare, savres is also rare.
So from that I can conclude I need to play at least a battle level encounter to include both rather than skirmish because I cant use Khallas from the Ydron realm as an uncommon. Is that right?
Edit: Reading on a bit more Thelliatiss wouldn't have enough authority to run all three of the above, hmm.

If you've run out of authority, that's when you look at breaking up the command. Now, I need to read up on Khthones rules a bit, but check out the Lady of Khthon rules "If a Gorgórix is mustered as the host's general, Khthones units from any realm may be mustered in her host as if they belonged to the Gorgon realm (so do not have to be allies)" as that might have an effect on choosing additional commands.
Alternatively, you could ally in a Ýdron host - commander and Khallas. That should allow you to field them all. Though, allies have certain rules (Page 20 of the muster doc)
I'm completely losing track of this whole project though.
Righto, time to update my project tracker post:

Armored Hror seems like he's taken a really really long time.
I'm completely losing track of this whole project though.
I'm not a big fan of the Legionaire conversions either. I had to do a double take on them as it's not often that I flat out dislike a mierce miniature.

I dislike them too. They look amateur at best, but Mierce want to charge high end prices for them.
I absolutely love a lot of Mierce's product, and anything larger than human infantry sized I'll buy based on concept art alone, and know I'll be very very happy, but with the Holumenn (sp?) and now the Legionaries I'm now thinking it might be better to look elsewhere for infantry.
Wow Zedmeister good work. Unfortunately all those outstanding minis along with the fact I still haven't received my wave 7 stuff suggests it might be time to put a rein on my Mierce spending. Maybe they could benefit from the same sort of analysis of work procedures that Antenocitis went through recently.
Exalt Zed! You are truly the meister in all things! ALL THINGS!
Because wow, that is a lot of things.
I am really down on the Romanesque sculpts too, which I am actually kind of shocked about. I usually love Roman style infantry and the like, and these just leave me cold. In fact, I think I actively dislike some of them, but I am having a hard time processing the feelings now. Logically I should love female Roman legionnaires, but I just can't.
Yeah, I think the infantry has been a little more hit-and-miss... love the recent Erainn and Jute infantry though (which is what got me to pledge for Savage Hordes, even though I don't think I'll be able to up it, they are just beautiful!).
Hey guys, can you help? I would quite like to buy this model. I guess it's part of an up coming Kickstarter. I've never bought from a Kickstarter and can't quite work out how to request him on this Kickstarter. Also what would the expected waiting times be, and how long until they become general release after the Kickstarter? Thanks :-)
This figure is part of a previous KS and a project exclusive too (so basically you can't get access to him now) and has not yet been shipped out to any of the backers (provisional date on that is somewhere in Feb 2016, although I suspect that may slip)
however fortunately those of us who backed the project can carry on adding on stuff until Mierce start sending stuff out
if you want to PM me I can add one to my order (£15 for the Resin Mini now) and get the shipping cost from you when it arrives and I send it out?
Yeah Bottle, your best bet for a model currently in production is to add it on to someone trustworthy's pledge (imo, Orlando would most certainly qualify, he's probably the most prolific "Kickstarter" poster in the UK). Waiting for retail is hard to know when a model will make it through the pipeline.
If that model is targeted for February 2016 to ship to backers, I'd factor in several months delay if I were you, as they have been running a bit behind. But it certainly looks worth it!
Speaking of this, have the Jute monstrous infantry been shown anywhere? I'm having trouble keeping track of what an entire faction has shown / released, since the links to bigger versions of the unlock maps on older projects don't seem to be working... but the Jutes are looking absolutely ace and I'll certainly be eyeing the pledge manager close date for them on Savage Hordes. Looks like that's not until summer so plenty of time, but I haven't been able to find the monstrous infantry sculpts anywhere and it seems like at least some must be shown by now?
Oh I forgot to mention there is going to be an non-exclusive version that will be cheaper (£10) where Aetulla has a hood on
I don't think Yannick has converted him yet as he'll need a master resin cast of the bareheaded version to work on, but here's the art
My guess is backers might get him at the same time or in the next 'wave' (April 2016), but this one will eventually hit normal retail too, (again I'm happy to add one to my order for you if you want)

I'm torn on whether I'd prefer those big guys in metal or resin - the one they showed in zed's pic (thanks for that!) is by far the least fragile - all 4 of the others have a hand with skeletal fingers splayed out, like this:
I know no one's received anything in metal yet (right?) since Metal Age wasn't projected until last month anyway and they're running behind, but what would folks recommend for these? The new (even bigger) Jute monstrous infantry in Savage Hordes are only offered in resin, but their hands are all firmly on their weapon handles, rather than splayed out like this.
Asking because I love the models, btw, not as a hater (and want to figure out the optimal material)
I've gone for the metals myself for the Dreaguthas and the skelly kelly's. Resin is a lovely material, but as you point out, brittle. Although at first glance, they look top heavy for metals, Mierce have said they'll be putting some craftily placed metal lips for the bases to keep them upright.
As an aside, the metals are already getting sent out. The Ysian Ax-Drune hosts are pretty much completely dispatched, minus the brutes.

That's very useful! I would definitely go metal on the skeletons, just a tossup on the Dreaguthas as they seem to be just about perfectly on the line size-wise between what I would want in metal or resin (or rather, their overall size is something I would want in resin - but those fingers seem like they'd survive better in metal).
I would love to see pics when folks get these, although I'm guessing it will be a bit yet for the Jutes at least?
Finally, could you elaborate on "craftily placed metal lips for the bases to keep them upright". Do you mean, like a small support where the cloak meets the base - or something else?
Gents, you're too kind. As long as helps keep the confusion down. Also, just noticed this:
November/December retail and trade releases:
MIGHTY MONSTERS AND MONSTROUS MOUNTS
We're late with the releases again this month, so we've skipped October to bring you November's beautiful BaneLegions and Darklands miniatures! Again, this means we've a few to bring you, from four different Kickstarter projects - Darklands: First Edition, Darklands: First Edition II and BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters, as well as the first releases from Darklands: Monstrous Mounts! These seventeen releases represent the eleventh, fifth, second and first set of releases from those projects respectively.
For BaneLegions, we have Gore-Fang - a huge driller killer Rat-Beast - as well as his companion, Master Converter Kemp-Kemp (designed by an old friend of ours, Wayne Kemp of Heelanhammer fame), a Rat-Warlock with some arcane contraptions strapped to his back! We have lots more for Darklands, of course: the Albainn get a hold of Ciniod on his Aurogg, a huge monstrous beast; the Anglecynn gain a superb new infantry unit, the Gesith, comprised of five warriors armed with sword and spear; another monstrous mount appears for the Byzantii, the amazing Erebius on Behema (sculpted by the master himself, Dan Cockersell); the Fomoraic get a combined hoof and mounted for Brunchaath the Vile, a beastman of ill-repute and smelly feet; the Khthones have themselves a superb new three-headed monster, Khallas the Hydrakh; and lastly the Norse gain another unit, this time monstrous infantry - the Hrafnmenn known as the Corpse Takers!
Sadly, we've not been able to get them painted in time for release, but the miniatures themselves are fantastic as always - and just like the previous releases, thanks to us being busier than busy bees we've just not had the time to get the release art and descriptions done; but you can still see some good images of each miniature on the website of course.
Another superb sculpt for the Albainn by the awesome Aragorn Marks (from the equally awesome artwork by Sam Lamont), Ciniod is a bare-chested, ginger-bearded warchief riding on a mighty Aurogg... which is perfectly able to trample all over his enemies!
With the release of the Gesith - sculpted by Stéphane Simon from the artwork by Danny Cruz - the Anglecynn now have a superb unit of elite, hearthguard infantry to complement the veterans known as Duguth. Armed with sword and spear and bearing heavy armour and a shield, the Wolfborn are led by the unit's champion, Egbert, and contains a banner bearer, Wulfric and a herald, Hrothgar, as well as two warriors, Cerdic and Wigstan.
It's been a while since a miniature sculpted by Dan Cockersell has been released, but let's rectify that right now with his latest masterpiece (originally drawn up by Stef Kopinski) for the Byzantii! Enter, stage left, Erebius the mighty Demiurion on his superb monstrous mount, the Behema!
A foot and mounted - well, hoof and mounted - release for the Fomoraic is Brunchaath the Vile (one of our oldest miniatures), sculpted by Benoît Cosse from the original artwork by Stefan Kopinski! Putting them both together as a single purchase ensures you save a little money from purchasing them individually, of course.
It's been a while since the last Khthones release, but the wait has been worth it because the three-headed Hydrakh known as Khallas (sculpted by Roberto Chaudon from the artwork by Tom Mahon) will give his enemies something to think about!
It's another unit for the Norse this month, and this time it's a monstrous infantry unit. The Corpse Takers are a fantastic unit of five Hrafnmenn - raven-men - sculpted superbly by Roberto Chaudon from the excellent artwork of Dan Warren. The five are led by the unit's champion, Gríminn (which was released a while ago now, as he was completed long before the rest) and contains four warriors - Ormrinn flying from a broken ship's mast, the female Agni, the awesome Oddr and the sneaking Kolskári. Fantastic miniatures all!
Converted by Tim Prow from Flint-Fang, using the artwork of Dan Warren, Gore-Fang continues the releases from the BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters project and is a cracking addition to the BaneLegions range. That drill looks like it could come a bit keen!
Designed by an old friend of ours, Wayne Kemp (of Heelanhammer fame), Master Converter Kemp-Kemp has been lovingly sculpted by Tim Prow from the excellent artwork by Wayne England. Need a Rat-Warlock with some arcane contraptions and a great big whip? Call Kemp-Kemp!
All of the releases above were officially released on the 7th of November 2015, and so you can order them right now.

As an aside, the metals are already getting sent out. The Ysian Ax-Drune hosts are pretty much completely dispatched, minus the brutes.
I received the first batch of my Ysians in the mail, which is the Ax-Drune starter host sans the Brutes.
I'm about halfway through assembling them, and I can tell you that the casts are of exceedingly high quality. I've seen my friend's resin Infernii and they needed some serious cleanup during assembly, but the metal ax-drune infantry have required very minimal cleanup.
On the flip side, they are also *VERY* fiddly to assemble. Resin bonds better with superglue than metal does (even with amble scoring to increase the surface area), so while metal may be more sturdy in some ways ways the joins are also quite fragile in a different way. For instance, each of my ax drunes have horns that must be *individually* glued on, and which seem to break off every time I look at them. I tried to use a bit of green stuff to strengthen the join but even that didn't help much. Same thing with the arms, which are each a separate piece and are further separate from the hands/weapon, all of which must essentially be glued at the same time to get them to line up properly. Very irritating.
So it really depends. If cost is an issue (Darklands models are fething *expensive*) then I'd say go with metal where available. If cost isn't much of an issue then I'd say consider going for the resin.
I hated assembling the resin ax-drunes- can't imagine trying to do the metal ones. I'm getting the metal Teulu so they will hopefully have fewer spindly bits.
I have to say that I hate assembling Mierce figures. I love the figures and the aesthetic and the quality and sharpness to detail, but they are often such a pain to put together and frequently come with huge gaps. They say the figures are for expert modellers, and I consider myself an expert modeller, but many of them are horrible to put together.
The reason I keep buying them, though, is because they are absolutley beautiful.
Thanks for both of those reviews, guys. That had been my criticism of some of the models as well (mostly the Agriosavra type, Mierce and even the master molder responded here about it). My hope was that as they gain experience they can make the models in less pieces, as while gluing on individual horns is possible, it's obviously preferable to avoid it . I think that is entirely possible without losing any dynamism or detail, given the resin models I have from other companies that are excellent and in less pieces, so I am hoping this improves!
So number of parts and how small they are would be a big factor in whether to get something in resin or metal. For now, I'll likely wait and see those models come out - quite a bit of resin to work through here as it is and then I can make a better decision if I decide to get them.

Old GW metals were just as bad. I still have nightmares about assembling my metal DA Sammael-on-jetbike and old (5th ed) Egrimm Van Horstmann on the oldschool chaos dragon. I literally used so much superglue on the second one that the front of my hair was white from the fumes by the end. Probably not very good for my lungs...
Plastic kits are just so much easier to assemble that we've all gotten a little spoiled and forgot how awful things were in the old days.
...that said, having to glue the fething horns onto each individual ax-drune's head is pretty ridiculous. Why couldn't the heads have been a separate piece, with the horns attached?
And the hands are just...ugh. I'm probably going to have to pin them all at some point.

I bought the Harryhausen style brass golem, and the werebear dude in both human and bear forms. Still not sure what they are for yet -- probably Song of Blades and Heroes, and Dragon Rampant. The golem can go with my Reaper brass bull, and the werebear can lead some Blood Rage vikings.
Mierce Miniatures wrote:you're looking at around the 18th of January mate.
definite end date will be the 9th of Feb; it may start before/after the 18th though.
Another three weeker then.
I really dont get going 30 days. Most of us are paid bi-weekly. With not much advance notice, its better to give a full 2 pay periods. i'll always put at least the min on any Mierce KS to get in on the pledge manager, but think they might be shortchanging themselves.
Well, most UK residents are salaried monthly, so as long as it runs over a month changeover, then it'll catch them (some are last working day, some are last instance of a given day etc, but they'll invariably all be near the end) so I guess they either don't know or don't care about the US methods.
Surely a large percentage of their customers are US based... I think it's more likely shorter to avoid mid-KS slowdown, and also to make it more manageable to run. Since they launch one every 3 months, having a full month to maintain each campaign would be pretty massive (4 full months out of the year).
I've also got a bunch of unused funds as well. I need to go through the Metal Age and Savage Hordes and grab some of the Jute stuff.
The other big thing is I'm trying to fully catalog my incoming Kickstarter models, and I'm trying to get a grip on what's done, what's WIP, and what's not started yet for the New Kindreds.
The only thing I'm looking for and having some trouble getting any concrete information on is any progress on the Norse Troll weapon alteration models. I vaguely recall seeing that Torleik, the new troll model was done, but I hadn't seen if that there had been any progress on the Great Axe Thórrir, Jöllu with Two Weapons, Vörtun Troll Kappi with Two Weapons, and the Cleaver Felltroll. In the most recent zedmeister listing, it was stated that Allan Carrasco and Stéphane Camosseto were the sculptors, but there was no schedule really present or a estimated time of completion.
I am stuck waiting for the changes to the Armoured Brutes, which I just know is going to be after the metal Jutes I have ordered. Wish I knew how much longer Olivier was going to take to do the modifications, I am hanging out to get them!
Darklands is a tabletop skirmish wargame in which you command the hosts of man and beast that your ancestors once did for glory, power or simple survival!
To play Darklands with our fantastic range of miniatures, you need the Darklands: First Edition rules as well as the Savage Hordes download which combines the Muster Rules (which show you how to build a host) and the various Kindred Musters (which give you all the warrior profiles for every single miniature we have produced or will produce).
Today you'll be able to download the latest version of the Darklands: First Edition rules, which is the final version before printing, but the Savage Hordes download will not be available until next week.
Last updated - 8th January 2016
The Darklands: First Edition rules are (just about) complete!
We have been working very hard to put the Darklands: First Edition of the rules together for you as a PDF download, and whilst this has taken a bit longer than we'd hoped they're now ready for public consumption.
Darklands: First Edition download
You can download the rules that are available now in one document:
Note that these downloadable rules are not in the same format as the printed rulebook and do not include the first section (1: Darklands, the Game), which contains background material and a general overview of Darklands battles. We've got to give you something to look forward to! Additionally, there will be a few more graphics and diagrams in the final version.
Open in a PDF Reader, not a Browser
It is recommended that you open the above document in a stand-alone PDF reader application to read it or print it, rather than reading it in a browser.
Hunt down grammatical errors!
In the meantime, feel free to hunt down typos, incorrectly numbered headers, passages that don't make sense or any other grammatical errors and e-mail us at kickstarter@mierce-miniatures.com. The more people that scour the rulebook for these errors, the more we'll find - and there's still a bit of time to do so!
Printing the rules
We have already begun converting these rules into print format with some nice graphics and images, and it will look similar in style to the Darklands: QuickStarter rules.
We do hope to have completed this task shortly and will pass the final version to the printers in time for our reserved printing dates in January. We hope to receive the printed rulebooks in February - and we'll ship them as soon as we get them!
no pictures of WIPs today, apparently sculptors get Christmas holidays too!
As we'll be sending eight more infantry hosts (from the Metal Age KS) off to the metal casters very shortly we thought we'd better give you all notice that you've just ten days to get hold of the
Albainn Gairlom,
Brythoniaid Teulu,
Byzantii Legionarius,
Érainn Tuanagh,
Fomoraic Gabrax,
Fomoraic Warriors of Baalor,
Jute Wihtgār
Norse Holumann
infantry hosts before they're removed from the Mierce Miniatures webstore forever!
If you can't see them, ask for access!
You will only see these items in the webstore if you have backed their parent project, of course, but if you do wish to join in to grab them, simply reply to this e-mail requesting access and we'll sort it for you.
Wave 10 Hosts removed on the 25th of January 2016
To re-iterate - the following hosts, together with their contents as individual purchases, will be removed from the Mierce Miniatures website on Monday the 25th of January 2016, at midnight GMT
I didn't back the KS, but now have the opportunity to buy some of the soon-to-be-gone metals. Am I right in thinking that if I order Wave 10 stuff, it'll ship pretty much immediately?
I would guess so, but since they are still a bit backed up with shipping i'd contact them and specifically ask if having them by a specific date is important
@Zed - so am I Zed. What I have lined up will blow your minds - especially for the Fomoraic...
Zedmeister about 4 hours ago
How are you structuring this one? Similar to the last one (host based) or more freeform?
Creator Mierce Miniatures about 4 hours ago
@Zed - it'll be like the last one, but more structured. You'll have £10k to £50k (in increments of £10k) stretch goals up front, so you can see what you're getting - I do think the last one suffered for that, i.e., you only saw a couple of stretch goals.
We've tried to run the last few projects as "running unveils" - i.e., we unveil the next stretch goal to aim at, rather than giving you loads at the start - but I believe that the £10k increment stretch goals right at the start work better, with unveils in between. I think it excites people more!
Ok, Some on the Kickstarter comments have requested pics of the Metal Duguth starter host that I just got in the mail today, from the 'Metal Age' campaign.
Here you go! (tried to embed the images, but it didn't work, hope the links work ok for everyone.)
Really nice looking casts - I am now not only really looking forward to my Metal Age stuff arriving, but to seeing what else Mierce will release in metal.
I'll be going to all metal for all of my human sized infantry from now on!
Looks great Skullking! I have 10 resin duguth from the 1st KS, but I'm definately adding the host w Reocs pack from savage hordes now. I wish I'd gotten my jutes in metal too... those spears seem so delicate in resin.
One minor niggle- there aren't any artists listed!
I love that about Mierce's campaigns!
Those new Fomorians look like Heath Foley artwork. Am I correct in that assumption? Or maybe someone else who has done art for Mantic?
Looks familiar.
That Fomorian host is a crazy deal if I'm reading it correctly. Only a 6 pound difference between getting the metal host or just the walrus men in resin? Tough decisions...

Heh, nothing tops the wihtax host, where you could get the spiders for 63, or the spiders, banner bearer and 10 dudes for 3 pounds LESS lol.
They are progressing along pretty well. I recently cataloged all that I've pledged for and for the most part almost everything is done.
I've got a massive shipment coming in in the next few days taking care of most of what I have been waiting for. After it arrives, I'll only have 9 more miniatures left out of the 47 total I've ordered through kickstarter (Not counting Savage Horses 1 and Metal age which will be shipping soon after), and 6 out of those 9 are currently in the process of being sculpted.
My worry levels about Mierce have dropped quite a bit.
Some yes, others no. Their mold maker had an operation that laid him up for a while, which can impact a small business. Monstrous Mounts in particular had a delay due to this, as they had to cast the beast, then send it back to the sculptor to add the rider/gear. Things seem to be moving forward on that again, and my recent additions have shipped and should be arriving soon.
One of the sculptors for the banebeast ones, Gary Morley, became seriously ill, so they had to reassign them. There have been a few other sculpting shuffles which have impacted other projects as well - I imagine Stephane Simon was tied up finishing Conan, which impacted his work for Mierce as well. Two of their newer guys, Yannick Hannebo and Valentin Zak, have been cranking out awesome sculpts at a fast pace, so that should help some of the backlog.
Essentially they have completed parts of a bunch of different KS, which are shipping, but not everything from all of their kickstarters has shipped. Zed has a master list somewhere of what is still outstanding that should have shipped (most of it from New Kindreds).
I can even afford to back it at the right level for once, rather than pledge a tenner and scratch around for the rest once the pledge manager goes live!
At this point I've still got those Monstrous Mounts holding up my orders. That big monitor lizard with Agriosavra on it and Srok are probably my most outstanding figures at this point.
I probably ought to check into that with Rob, come to think of it, as I'm pretty sure I have multiple shipping times paid for.
I hate to say it, but I am tempted to back this. Not that I need more figures and I still don't have the stuff I did pledge for back in the Jutes campaign. Some day, I'd like to actually get those figures.
As always stuff looks fantastic but kickstarter backlog/fatigue with Mierce has fully set in. Right now I don't need more stuff for a game I can't properly play.
You guys who have been following Mierce for a while, and since I've been out of the loop for a bit regarding spending money on new miniatures, what of these ones are re-sculpts of already existing miniatures?
Azreal13 wrote: I've not studied every unlock intently, but I'm pretty sure these are all new.
I was also thinking about about the "commanders". For example, Bow-Annik for the Ys is a pre-sculpted figure (can't remember the name on the top of my head, though). And I probably recognize Bowman-Urien, too, right? But are there any more?
@Grefven - there'll be a new Byzantii Auxilia Warchief (Quintus is a placeholder) and Kaarstan is new. The others are alternates; Bowman Urien is already done, mind.
Of the units, the Rogue-Drunes and Toxokolossi are alternates.
@Zond - you can play the game, there's a Darklands tournament in Sheffield next month - feel free to pop along! Go here for the full rules: http://mierce-miniatures.com/index.php?act=drm
The Ysian rogues are weapon swaps of the shadow drunes (I think only one of them remains unfinished). The piercing ones look to be mods of the mesokolossi (not sculpted). All the other units appear to be all new however.
I'm aware the game can be played. However it's difficult to drum up interest when you're still waiting on a full rulebook and there's always another kickstarter on the horizon.
Obviously your business model works fantastically for you and produces stunning miniatures. I just struggle to actually get others to engage with the game and I'm not going to travel to Sheffield for that.

Righto!
Will we be getting 'in between' goals every 5K once we get to 10K?
Honestly, I can commiserate with where @Zond is coming from. Sheffield is a long way from my home in Canada. A bunch gamers in the area are very excited for Darklands, but everyone is still waiting on the bulk of their forces to arrive...let alone the rulebook. Without fluff, a hardcopy of the rules, and an assembled and paint-in-progress force, it's tough to recruit further players. Even harder when there's no backer discount on existing miniatures.
The line I keep hearing is "I'll see how it looks once you guys have your minis and are playing games. Until then...I think I'll hold off."
I'm sure we'll be getting some curious folks at the club once we're all up and running playing games of Darklands. Say...in spring when there's the next kickstarter. But it's expensive, stores aren't carrying it yet, and ordering stuff online is a bit of a psychological barrier. The backer discount, even if small, provides an incentive for people to jump on board.
@PirateRobotNinjaofDeath - there is a backer discount, or will be, on existing miniatures for this project.
There'll be hosts (for metal and resin) that reprise those from Savage Hordes, and there'll be a discount on existing miniatures after the project on our website.
Regarding Sheffield being a long way, my point was that Darklands is playable, now - not about where you can play it.
The internet allows you to play it wherever you are... there are no barriers to playing Darklands, except the barriers created by oneself.
Ok I backed the original metal hosts KS for Jutes and Atlanties, missed out on the savage hordes I ks (the one with all the ranaged troops). If I back this one for two support hosts can I choose the Atlanties from this one and the Jutes ranged support from the previous KS from the store post KS?
Welcome to this, the first update for this project in 2016!
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress images from Stéphane Simon;
•a list of what miniatures are currently being sent in their various waves;
• an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
As this project is almost complete, there won't be many miniatures to show from here on in. Today we have just the one to show, from Stéphane Simon!
These guys have taken their sweet time but they're finally nearing the end. Here's the last warrior from the Shadows of Carn Bran, Shadow-Drune Unit, and as he's almost done, so is the unit!
The last warrior of the unit is also the unit's champion, Cador...
We do hope that these guys will be Wave 10, but it's unlikely. So they'll be Wave 11!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Monstrous mounts: One to go...
Lizards
Welcome to this, the very first update for this project of 2016!
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress images from Roberto Chaudon;
•a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
As this project is drawing to a close, there won't be many updates from here on in. This week we've just the one miniature to show you, for the Khthones... by Roberto Chaudon!
Roberto Chaudon has been hard at work over Christmas getting Ágriosávra to fit on his mighty Sávrakh, and the results are spectacular, we think!
Welcome to this, the first update for this project of 2016 - and it's a cracker!
This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Allan Carrasco, Benoît Cosse and Juan Navarro Pérez;
•an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Here we go...
It's mostly alternates from Allan Carrasco this week, but there's also a cracker from Benoît Cosse and an amazing horseman from Juan Navarro Pérez!
We start the Allan Carrasco show with Leaping Creoda, an alternate of one of our very first miniatures, Creoda. It's early days, but we can't wait to see how he turns out!
Hopefully Leaping Creoda will be a Wave 11 shipment.
Next up is Spike Qaano, a wonderful alternate of the original Qaano, of course...
Spike Qaano should be a Wave 11 shipment!
We interrupt the Allan Carrasco show with Aggrakk, the mighty Krokokh for the Khthones - sculpted by Benoît Cosse...
We do hope Aggrakk will be a Wave 11 shipment. He's going to be epic! Remember, he's on an 80mm base...
The original Knútr is awesome - but Bareheaded Knútr is simply superb...!
Wave 11 for this guy we think.
The lovely Jörmungand has a makeover, gaining another axe and a bit more armour - becoming Jörmungand Two Axe!
He'll be a Wave 11 shipment!
The Erilaz Víthar now has a Ravenhelm!
That concludes today's Allan Carrasco show - hopefully more next week with Birna on Fellhrafn!
We've not seen much from Juan Navarro Pérez for a while, so here's Danilo Cruz on Horse to redress that balance!

Excellent although if I remember right the discount is a timed thing that ends a few months after the campaign, so have the funds ready if you want to take advantage of it.

Obviously, the game being "playable" and there being "no barriers to playing" are not the same thing.
As an example, while folks could play Arena Rex early (maybe even while their campaign was running?) most folks wanted to wait until they had the physical models and rules in-hand. I think there are a lot of barriers still to playing Darklands - delivery time and lack of a physical rulebook being the primary ones.
The models are worth getting regardless, but there's a reason folks aren't playing (and it's not on them) that still needs to be made more of a priority to address than it has! It is hard to think of a game that is less accessible for new players at the moment. I'd love to see some sort of initiative to get people playing when the rulebook finally ships! That is by far the biggest barrier still to be addressed (with the backlog next).
I disagree with you utterly RiTides - there are no barriers for you to play Darklands.
Delivery time is only an issue for Kickstarter items - there are plenty of miniatures out there in stores in the USA, for example, which enable you to play. At the last count almost 300 Darklands miniatures are released to the general public, enabling you to play with eight kindreds effectively, and webstore orders on our website (for those released miniatures) are in stock and shipped within a couple of days.
The rules are downloadable and easily useable in this day and age of tablets and phones, which all support PDFs.
I take issue with the "It is hard to think of a game that is less accessible" - it's perfectly accessible, if you can be bothered. If you can't be bothered, don't moan about it.
Once the physical rulebook is shipped there'll be an initiative by ourselves to get people playing - it's already in its infancy here in the UK, as we'll be running tournaments regularly.
As I said, there are no barriers to playing Darklands - only those you create for yourself.
Welcome to this, the first update for this project in 2016! This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress images from Tim Prow;
•an idea of what will ship, and when;
•a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.
Let's begin!
It's a new year and a new start - Tim Prow has completed work on the foot versions of the Orc Warlord and Orc Feral Shaman, leaving just the Orc Warlord with Great Weapon and Orc Shaman variants to do.
Tim assures us these will be done very quickly, so we're hopeful of getting everything out to you in Wave 11 and putting a fork in this project, because it'll be done!
The fantastic Orc Warlord on Foot - the conversion of the rider - is now complete. The sword, topknot and shield aren't needed for the conversion, so they're not shown!
The Orc Warlord on Foot - and the rider and Wyvern of course! - will be a Wave 11 shipment.
The Orc Feral Shaman on Foot has bags of character! He's our favourite.
The Orc Feral Shaman on Foot - and the rider and Wyvern of course! - will be a Wave 11 shipment.
Tim Prow taking over Gary Morley's work
Unfortunately Gary Morley cannot now complete any of his remaining sculpts as he is ill, and so Tim Prow has kindly agreed to take over from Gary.
Unfortunately Tim has other commitments - not least his own Kickstarter project - but he's started to sculpt the Orcs and the remaining versions should be completed in early 2016.
We'll keep this list updated every, er, update.
• SHIPMENT WAVE 0: (complete): Existing miniatures.
• SHIPMENT WAVE 7 (beginning June 2015): Orc Warlord on Foot with Two Axes - Warlock, Wizard - Plague Priest - Master Converter Kemp-Kemp - War Demon - War Demon with Two Axes - Rat Beast - Rat Beast with Two Tails and Spine Shards - Rat Fiend - Rat Fiend with Mole-Rat Head - Ogre Drake - Unhelmed Ogre Drake with Axe - Ox-Gore - Ox-Gore with Club and Morning Star - Pleasure Demon - Pleasure Demon with Swords
• SHIPMENT WAVE 8 (August 2015): Plague Demon - Plague Demon with Eye and Cleaver - Dark Elf Lord on Dragon
• SHIPMENT WAVE 11 (April 2016): Orc Warlord rider - Orc Warlord on Foot - Orc Warlord with Great Weapon and Heavy Armour rider - Orc Warlord with Great Weapon and Heavy Armour on Foot - Orc Shaman rider - Orc Shaman on Foot - Orc Feral Shaman rider - Orc Feral Shaman on Foot - Wyvern
• Wave 11: items from Wave 11 will be removed from the website at the end of February.
• BEASTS: Ox-Gore - Ox-Gore with Club and Morning Star
• CHAOS: Warlock - Plague Priest - Ogre Drake - Unhelmed Ogre Drake with Axe - Pleasure Demon - Pleasure Demon with Swords - War Demon - War Demon with Two Axes - Plague Demon - Plague Demon with Eye and Cleaver
•DARK ELVES: Dark Elf Lord on Dragon
• HUMANS: Wizard
•ORCS & GOBLINS: Orc Warlord on Foot with Two Axes - Orc Warlord on Wyvern rider - Orc Warlord on Wyvern - Orc Warlord on Foot - Orc Warlord with Great Weapon and Heavy Armour rider - Orc Warlord with Great Weapon and Heavy Armour on Foot - Orc Shaman on Wyvern rider - Orc Shaman on Foot, Orc Feral Shaman on Wyvern rider - Orc Feral Shaman on Foot
• RATS: Master Converter Kemp-Kemp - Rat Beast - Rat Beast with Two Tails and Spine Shards - Rat Fiend - Rat Fiend with Mole-Rat Head

I can definitely vouch for this - it's how I've gotten most of my models from you! You even ship replacement parts really quickly, it is excellent
Mierce Miniatures wrote: As I said, there are no barriers to playing Darklands - only those you create for yourself.
Personally, I gladly buy your figures to use for other games- they feature prominently in my Hordes gator force, and soon will in the companion pig force I'm building as well!
But I think you do yourself no favors with this language, which basically amounts to blaming your customers for not playing. Right now, folks get interested, but realize the rules aren't out (soon to be remedied, thank goodness!) and that to get many models there is a long queue of Kickstarter backing they missed, and thus face a very high barrier to starting.
It's not a problem for me personally because I love doing counts-as armies for other systems, but I just thought it worth pointing out that your language here is imo both a bit untrue and blaming your customers unnecessarily. In the webstore, for instance, some kindreds have very few models available to them. It's not necessarily a problem - but acting as if there is no reason people can't pick up and play is a bit disingenuous is all. I hope the game does well and am looking forward to checking out the book myself when it's available for sale!

On a completely separate note, this was teased in the KS comments - has a neat Circle vibe to it!
Mierce Miniatures wrote: I disagree with you utterly RiTides - there are no barriers for you to play Darklands.
I have to agree with RiTides on this one. Here in the states, there are a lot of barriers to entry. The rule book not in print is perceived as a pretty big one. My local group that Ive known for a good long while, likes your minis Ive shown them. Interest vanishes when I mention downloading and printing the full rule book on our own. Before you ask, one of our group is a part owner of a small press book bindery. The perception is, an unpublished rule book = game not worth looking at. Im glad the rule book will be in hands soon.
Mierce Miniatures wrote: there are plenty of miniatures out there in stores in the USA, for example, which enable you to play.
Do you have a list you can publish? The only retailer I am aware of state side that carries more then a token range is Noble Knight Games. And they dont have what I would consider a lot of stock.
Mierce Miniatures wrote: I take issue with the "It is hard to think of a game that is less accessible" - it's perfectly accessible, if you can be bothered. If you can't be bothered, don't moan about it.
This type of statement should not be made to those of us in this thread who are largely your converted followers.

Ill be interested in seeing this develop. I hope it promotes the game and becomes well received here in the states.
There are no 'counts as' uses here for me - especially after WFB was killed off - all of these excellent miniatures will be used in games of Darklands for me!
Having said that, however, these fine miniatures do in fact have many, many 'counts as' applications across many game systems.
I do think that finally having the full rules out in a true book form will be a tremendous boost to the Darklands 'brand' and game though!
Hope I wasn't too negative above, just didn't like the idea of blaming folks who want to play the game for not being able to do so locally! I am really looking forward to checking out when the book hits
Looks good too. Still wish the Savrakh had a little more girth around his belly. Looks like he's a bit malnourished and skinny.
The Savra must not be feeding him enough humans!
Can't wait to finally get this guy!
Dang it! I have been trying really hard to avoid starting a new game but these lizard/snake people are really hitting all the right notes with me.
Anyone know of a group near North Seattle that plays so I can get familiar with it?

From the KS comments most US stores are getting stuff indirectly via Golden Distribution (formely Warpath)
but FRP games in California has been mentioned as having a good range of Darklands in stock

I had much the same thoughts as RiTides when I read that. Only mine were mixed with a dash of "Well, the rule book I ordered a while ago has yet to show up, along with the metals. And oh, I have been waiting on some kickstarter models for nearly 2 years now." So yea, I feel that there are a few barriers at the moment. I am rather hoping Mierce Miniatures pops on tomorrow and says something along the lines of "Sorry guys, I was totally blasted after work when I posted that reply from the pub's toilet." Your customers are telling you they feel like there are a lot of barriers getting themselves and others into the game, you should be listening to their concerns not telling them there are not any.
Hell, RiTides has been described as "The Mierce Sales Rep. for Maryland" by our gaming group. When he says "Yea, there's some issues," there are some issues.
---
If the sculptor can capture the awesomeness of that design (which knowing most of the guys Mierce gets to sculpt for them, they probably can), I'm going to have to add her to my Fomorians.
Which so far I've done really good resisting most human- sized Fomorians.
Of course if that Kaarstan figure ends up as bulky and imposing as his design art, I'll probably have to get him too... and then get the whole damned Fomorian host on offer... sigh.
