Well I think we know what the Legions Imperialis preview is going to be already...

Hopefully we get a wee bit more than just that rather glorious boxed set.

I mean, what else would you expect alongside a full army reveal? Other than an obligatory book?

More Marine tanks, duh.

I want my Superheavies.

This one I'm looking forward to...

Legions, I'm expecting the Mechanicum to be announced this Thursday( that cat is already out of the bag ), so maybe something else for this preview.

40K I think is Thousand Sons. Is that right?

Kill Team will probably a solo-coop product as thats the big new thing for the edition. Personally I'd like to see a new Harlequins team, which introduces the missing Troupe Master model for that range.

Underworlds should be a new season and Stormcasts vs Skaven.

With the nerfing of the Sacrosancts, 4th Edition has so far been a huge turn-off. I doubt there is anything special enough they could reveal to make up for it.

With Blackstone Fortress now seemingly discontinued, the "and more" will probably be a teaser for a new 40K-themed boardgame.

I'm fully expecting LI to be nothing more than the Mechanicum boxed set that we've seen a leak of.

If we get anything else its a book to go with it, but otherwise I'd expect that alone being the focus. We might hear/see that individual boxes are also coming for the models that make up that combined kit.

There's also a tiny chance those titan sets that were hinted and shown off ages ago might make an appearance too

I don't think they'll have much of anything in the hopper to swap in with unless it's just a campaign book for the mechanicum and no minis.

40K I think is Thousand Sons. Is that right?

Nope, we don't have any more 40k this year by GW's own admission which makes this weird, they also told us krieg are next, so if it's that then they're showing us them 3+ months out.

Current rumours are orks vs ratlings & ogryn.

Seems likely.

We know Daves to Darkness are next and they'll maybe get some more conan minis I guess?

With Blackstone Fortress now seemingly discontinued, the "and more" will probably be a teaser for a new 40K-themed boardgame.

That might be a good shout for the 40k slot never mind the and more.

That's definitely a step in the wrong direction.

Consequently I hope the model is a dud. It'll be less stressful if I'm not tempted.

I must say that a Votann would have been a perfect character for Blackstone Fortress. And a Zoat was a thing!

Space Hulk is a big possibility if its a new edition that uses the new models from the 40K range, instead of being unique. If it runs for a year or two, they could introduce Deathwing and Wolfguard terminators through expansions. Maybe Genestealers for Genecults? Not sure if they need it but Grey Knight terminators could also be an expansion...

I expect GW are giving a breather on the 28mm stuff - it's diminishing returns to drop everything at once.

They'll let people paint up the new shinies, release named characters / melee sprue / marine tanks, then do another wave of 28mm Solar & Mechanicum later next year. In fact GW might even be using the break to push LI Mechanicum, for anyone who needs more robots in their life or just didn't want to buy in at full size.

They used to be at least alright with the commemorative miniatures. releasing them as made to order for 2 weeks. Now it's just whatever stock is there so they'll probably end up being sold out and on Ebay by the end of the day.

Don't know why they wouldn't do them as Made to Order.

The latest SoB was only while supplies last too. She sold out fast but stores apparently had a decent stock so I got her eventually. This model tho? Who knows…

Warhammer Day 2024 @ 2024/09/23 17:02:31

Post by: Overread

In the past event models were often "whilst supplies last"

I'm guessing GW only has so many "made to order" slots they can go for. At least you know up front, as I recall the last Sister of Battle promotional model, a tie-in for a book, wasn't announced that it would be a one-time thing.

Normally GW makes it clear, but the only warning we got on that one was the notice on the product page on the store.

That said if you're aware its coming up normally GW has more than enough one-time stock for these. The real issue is if you can't budget/afford/be aware of it at the time it goes out and you come across it months/year later and want to get hold of it. Then you can end up either having to buy and paint-strip or hunting ebay and FB trading groups to either pay a LOT or find someone selling it on and get lucky.

Is it just me or doesn't he look like a fallen Stormcast? Very similar armor.

Is there such a thing?

Warhammer Day 2024 @ 2024/09/30 15:10:54

Post by: Overread

The armour itself could just be stolen, we've got Orruks and Khinerai running around with stolen bits of Stormcast armour on their models.

I think Stormcast can fall. At the very least they are capable of independent actions. About the only thing that really binds them is that if they die they get teleported back unless there's a block or another creature stealing their soul. Though it seems that such things take a lot of power to do so right now.

Haven't we had one already fall back to the services of Nagash (if only in part?).

I suspect a stormcast falling into full Chaos corruption is near impossible. One could fall into dark actions, but I don't think chaos corruption could work through them.

Wondering if this Warhammer Day is where they preview the Limited Edition Christmas or Boxing Day figure? Are we expecting another Red Gobbo this year or something different?

I imagine the Christmas figure will be later in the year. I'm sure there will be another variation on the Red Gobbo or White Dwarf as a fun Christmas figure.

If we are lucky, a set of new weapon sprues for the warlord, reaver, and/or warbringer in plastic since everyone can take allied titans.

But... its like that now. CSM recently had their book with the god specific units out and loads of funny unaligned "lost and damned" units for flavour. Just that EC have a pdf fto make thier list instead of a full codex..

They mean with god specific daemons going into the god specific books.

I can well see 40K following AoS and doing that; once Emperors Children are out I could see the next edition do away with the combined demon codex entirely and just having 4 god specific ones.

Honestly whilst its a shame to lose fully combined demon armies in AoS, you can ally but there are restrictions now that fit the lore; its actually been a great thing.

It creates so many slots for new models with god specific styles. Indeed one big hope I have is that we'll see new demon creatures appear over time as a result.

It's already allowed the mortal follower side to flourish into a whole variety of new models and options.

So while I dont expect a big EC reveal I could see this being similar to the initial sisters thing where they show a single model (if I was to guess it would be the classic crop top ec art inspired as he was in the lucius animaiton) and start a ec day each month to show new design process

The new models are great, but I think the cards look much worse with model photos than art. It’s a minor point all told but rubbed me the wrong way how they presented that as a positive, I think characterful art being replaced with glossy photos that are all over the place anyway is a bad thing.

That would’ve been nice, actually. I didn’t even consider resculpts.

Dark Mechanicum coming to LI, followed by 28mm HH later no doubt. Shows the plastic Mechanicum releases have been going down better than expected. Really happy to see HH getting another faction!

As for the Brutal & Kunnin KT24 box, that terrain is a must-have and indicates all the terrain in this season might be compatible with eatch other.. This is going to get expensive. I just wish they'd also sell the terrain separately, I dont really want any more teams (got 10+ teams already thank you very much!) but I do want all of that terrain for 30K/40K/KT2* games.

Happy to see eclectic teams in the box, but like I said, I dont need any more teams.. Tankbustas kit has mucho conversion fodder potential though

Watched that "vignette" just now. With Bandai/Namco money behind it, felt like a prolonged cutscene from some upcoming Deathwatch vs Necrons action BolterPron game. Might indicate more licenced stuff coming later on..

It doesn't, though. The plastic mechanicum only released a few months ago. It takes 2-3 years for miniatures to go from design to release, so it has no relevance to how well those kits are or aren't selling.

GW had no more money for their servers after they redid the website. Ten people visit the new website and it crashes, but afterwards they can market it as “so many people were excited about us that the glorious nee site crashed. Seems like we need another price hike!”

Kill team ratlings are all above board (rather than being deserters and thieves), so presumably they are sticking to Guard uniform regulations and still shave.

The sisters, crons and tau batleforces are distinctly... slimline on points and content. I'm assuming they'll be a similar price point and % saving? It just seems bizarre to me that the big expensive Christmas box with a huge saving still doesn't clear 700 points

My thoughts on what was shown (from what I remember, would check the site, but well...):
- Warhammer Underworlds: nice to finally see some update on this game, and the new Warbands are great looking (especially the Skavens), but very disappointed this is a full reboot. Not much of a fan of model art for cards, either.
- WH Day model: nice model, but already shown in great detail
- New S2D Wizard, Spearhead & Battletome: nice to see some new content for AoS.
- Battleforces: probably some nice deals in those, and I like that they are trying to align them to specific formations thematically, but none of this is new and deserves a reveal slot in the WH Day preview
- LI: I suspect the Mechanicum being spoiled early cut a bit of the wind from their sails, and that they had intended to have a big reveal here. Dark Mechanicum specific kits look awesome, though.
- KT: really strong showing here, both Orks and Ratlings look great. A lot of tank-busting stuff for a game without tanks, though.
- Christmas Ratlings: awesome model
- LarpHammer : I'm not really into this stuff, but it's probably great for people who are, so I won't complain
- DeathWatch Animation teaser: nice to get free WHTV content, more bolter porn, but well animated at least

I'm a little disappointed with the CoS battleforce because it has two units that are already in the spearhead box. I suppose some may like the extra knights and cannon, but it seems like better value to not duplicate their contents.

I really like most of the 40k battleforces. To the extent that I probably cannot justify spending the amount I would on them at once.

Underworlds seems a lot uglier in terms of it's card style, and I think losing the dual boards is a huge shame. I don't hate some of the more accessible nature though. I want a lot more information on what is being done to make old teams playable.

For some reason, it looks like the Aquila on the rifle on the Ratling Diorama miniature has absolutely no detail and is entirely flat?

Edit: Same with all the ones in the squad, actually. No detail at all. It seems that's how the blackstone fortress miniature's are too so i suppose it's intentional? Still seems a bit odd though

Having their community site crash on the day of a big bunch of reveals is kind of a bad look for GW. Granted it's (probably) not intentional, but somebody in their IT department might be looking for a job after this. Especially since it's been down all day.

Given that the human component of the Cities only has a handful of units that aren't re-purposed WHFB kits, I'm not sure there's much they can do about it.

It's not been "down all day", it was up all day in the UK and went down after the stream ended from what I can tell. The community site obviously isn't considered a tier 1 solution or it'd be back up by now. As it stands the logical conclusion is nobody is looking at it til tomorrow or monday. GW don't host their own web servers. Nobody's getting fired.

In the RoW it’s been down all day - might be bed time in the UK so it’s not an issue there, but it very much is in other time zones. GW is an international company after all.

For me the Warhammer Community site, news site, went down before the reveal that's why I couldn't see anything. Shame. The 500 internal server error on a black screen was frustrating. Lucky some kind hearted people here on Dakka gave the twitch location and screen shots of minis.

Btw there's some really cool figures coming, looking forward to their release.

Btw that 500 internal server error is still showing right now, by my count that's 12 hours plus counting.

Also btw has anyone been able to order that exclusive chaos sorcerer yet?

He's conspicuously absent from the Australia and New Zealand webstores, available everywhere else. Didn't see any mention of it being delayed in Oceania, but obviously there's no way to check WarCom right now to see if that was the case.

Our allocated limited stock will show up eventually without warning, I suppose. Hopefully I notice before it's too late.

EDIT: WarCom is back up, and the pre-order article does confirm the (fairly obvious) delay in Oceania
