Here's a Wip for ya. Anyone want take a guess as to what these are for?
I'm sculpting some bigger legs & feet based of those of the new Seeker models. I planning making some alternate fiend models that actually look fast.
I'm also still working on the Soulgrinder:
I'm getting better at hiding the seems between parts. By breaking the model down so much I'll be able to make the molds smaller, simpler, and more cost effective.

Hello,
I am axiously awaiting her casting ), I saw the seeker legs, I like the fiend idea, as it can look more like a seeker that way, keeping with the tone and feel of a unified army. I must admit I liked your seekers to begin with

Hey Ghiest1,
It won't be much longer before she takes a silicon bath. I'm just getting her nice and smooth, at this point I've actually had dreams where I sanding.
On to other things:
Fiends:
I'm thinking a cross between this:
and this...
So, um yeah...I don't know how it'll turn out either. My first attempt was this:
Which, was mostly a failure...so yeah.
Seekers:
These are still in the planning stages. While I love the new plastic models, they aren't really dynamic looking. They appear to be out for a leisurely walk? I'm talking about the mounts here not the riders, which are a universally acknowledged failure.
Compare that to the last generation seekers:
The actually appear to be charging.
So, thats what I'm aiming for. They'll also be armed with Dark Elves lances and shields, as the oversized claws the come with look stupid on daemonettes. Although they look great on GW Fiends:
Other Things:
I need some giant tentacles...well...just because. Some thing like these:
1. Its Slaaneshi
2. Tentacles bursting out of the ground, fits the armies deep striking theme.
3. Their giant tentacles, whats not to love?
I also bought this yesterday, I have no idea what to use it for yet though:
An objective maybe? something for apocalypse?
Anyway I'm supposed to be casting....later!

Heh, heh, Tentacles. I see where this is all going. Anyway, I agree that these current seekers really have no speed to them, though I personally fancy the idea of damonettes just on a leisurely stroll down Main St. of Imperialville. But, I am at the same time excited about what you might do for some different seekers, as, though I have yet to buy your work (funds are down, but once I have some....), I really do love the skill you have in putting ideas into action and the beautiful monsters you've created so far. Keep doing what you do, and I will be glad.

Wow awesome stuff so far man. What model is that at the end there? And where did you get it? And can you PM me the links to where you buy those?
I definitely agree with you on the superiority of the older seekers. I think their long, leaning look really adds to the sense of motion, as they look like they are trying to be sleek and leaning forward a bit as they move. GW seems to have forgotten that people/animals only stand directly upright when they are standing still, and lean forwards when they run.
That is good inspiration from WAR as well... makes me want to pick the game back up and run some raid content in a way that WoW's critters never did.

I love that soul grinder.
I just want to know, will there be a gun barrel coming out of the hole in her belly? Or is that the barrel itself?
As for the daemonettes around it,maybe have one with a calice to catch the tears and blood of the big momma.
Or maybe a Daemonette with a Hookah pipe somewhere on the throne. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh and just one last thing, might I suggest you use the White Lions from the High Elf chariot for your Fiends.
Maybe add horns and tentacles.
I was going to get two, keep one as a pet for my Slaanesh Lord, and with the other give it goat horns,a snake as a tail and a pair of small feathered wings, and make a nice Chimera.
OH I KNOW. Something like that could make a great Slaanesh Flesh Hound or maybe as Karnak and have normal lions as Flesh Hounds.

I must say good buddy, that I was a little worried with how that keeper was going to turn out, but you, my friend, have proved me wrong in my predictions. The peice is really quite beautiful, the musculature in the legs and the final head composition. My only criticism would be this: I wish the head was looking more towards the floor (and that may be due to the fact I am seeing it at eye level and not on a table, which messes with perspective considerably. Good to see your stilll at it, keep it up!

Wehrkind:
The worst part is that we waited so long, for them and they should have been better.
Melkhiordarkblade:
I intended the current hole to be the functional barrel. However, I'm open to re-designing it. Maybe something eldar-ish? I'll be using your chalice of tears and blood idea for sure. The Daemonette with a Hookah pipe will be included as well.
The Chimera idea is brilliant as well, I've even seen a blog that had daemonettes riding white lions. Hmmm...must investigate further.

Considering making my Necrons the same way, finding a way to blur out the mouths and noses on their faces, make them just a pair of eyes staring out of a skull-mask. Maybe even no eyes for the more elite units.
Hmm.
You know, maybe some masquerade masks for some of your demons, a lá Eyes Wide Shut, would add a further creepy feel? Perhaps a small squad of bemasked daemonettes around a couple of guardsmen who don't know what to do. Though I suppose then we're getting more into diorama territory rather than individual models...

Hi Guys,
Just a quick little post on what I'm working on at the moment.
I've started working in wax. Went out bought a melting pot, wax pen, tools, etc. This stuff is very cool! I've already cast the KOS in wax, and I'm going with heated tools to carve in new details and buffing the smooth areas to a glass-like finish. I'm molding the Soul Grinder so I can cast it in wax as well. Oh the things you can do with this stuff.
I've started using wax for the sprues in my molds as well. you can form the wax tubes into any shape you like by hand and then just melt the sprue to the part with the wax pen.
Here's what the waxer looks like:
Here's a close up on the pen tip:
Basically its just a metal box with a transformer in it. When you depress the stub on the pen it completes the circuit and heats the pen tip so you can carve, or draw on lines of melted wax. It comes with lots of different tips for different applications. Lots more on this later.
Here I'm cutting up some old silicone molds to use as filler in new molds. I'd never tried this before but is work great and can save you a ton of money. I ended up using a 2/3rd's less silicone by just cubing and old mold and filling the mold boxes with them. Also the silicone chunks helped stabilize the parts in the mold so they don't move around when the silicone is poured and the mold vacuumed.
The molds before:
With silicone cubes:
I figure if I can recycle my mold molds at least once I've reduce my silicone cost be half. Anyway I got fly but I post up some more stuff tonight.
More Later!

Awesome! I DEMAND a full on wax tutorial! I have ~50 pounds of the stuff laying around for waxing leather, which is about 30 more than I could possibly need, so a second use for it would be great! Good call on cutting up old molds too. I do that a lot now, especially because I always have about half again too much silicone mixed up. I just keep an empty blister pack or two nearby and fill them, then cut the resulting silicon bricks into chunks. Also, what sort of vacuum system are you using? I am actually in the process of pricing out and buying stuff to pull vacuum on my molds and possibly castings, and would LOVE to find out how you are doing it. Plus, put my name on a Soul Grinder I suspect that will be my Hellcannon Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, for those of you thinking of getting one of his demon princesses, here's a link to some WIP pics of mine. Post by: Sersi
Remember what I said about chopping up silicone and reusing it in molds. Well is works great on smaller molds as they can have all the air vacuumed out of them very easily. With bigger molds like this one.
Its not quite as effective... Voids, air pockets, and bubbles...Oh my! The one plus was that there were no tiny air bubbles. No the choice. I could cut the Soul Grinder out and recast the whole thing over wasting $30 worth of silicone or try to fix it possibly wasting silicone as well.
I decide to build a new mold box out of foam-core around the mold leaving a 5mm gap on all sides, and made the box much taller than before. Next, I felt the mold to ind any soft spots, and then cut away the silicone in those areas to open the voids to the molds surface.
Then, I poured liquid silicone into the box, in the space surrounding the mold. making sure to cover it by at least and inch. I then vacuumed out as much air as possible, using my vacuum pump and then put the mold in one of my pressure pots and cranked the pressure up to 60 psi for 15 minutes, to force the silicone into all the open areas.
Here the salvaged mold after cutting the original part out. Success!
So, lesson learned. In the future with bigger molds I'll pressurize them to force the liquid silicone into the crevices.

Post by: Wehrkind
Bummer on the bubbles! I have had some issues with that when reusing chunks, but I never used them that completely, so I guess I dodged that bullet :( Good job fixing them up and making it work out though!

Here's an update on the Chariots:
The face on the second chariot will have stylized tentacles that spread out across the chariots front.
Here's the chariot scaled against a Pleasure Seeker.
Seekers of Slaanesh:
I don't like the big claws on the Seeker models so I substituted WF Dark Elf lances and shields.
Daemonette Nipples:
So, I cut and scraped smooth the chests of the daemonettes and sculpted on exposed breasts of various sizes and degrees of perkiness; from natural to silicone. I used Aves Sculpt so that I could get the basic forms really smooth with a bit of light sanding. I intended to use GS for the actual nipples but even using a small stamp I made from styrene in was taking way to long. I have 150 or so daemonettes, all needing between 2-6 nipples each.
So, I was reading a tutorial today were the guy used a tooth pick to stamp freckles on his daemonettes, and I thought...if only I could do that with the nipples. But what to use...how about super glue? but that flowed to much, so I need something thicker. Then I remembered that you can mix talcum powder into superglue and use it as a filler. It worked great! and hardened up fast as well. Apply multiple applications to get the size and diameter you want.
[u]
Oh yeah...let them dry with their breast pointing down. Like so.
Wax Casts:
Ahhh...molten wax.
Just giving the cooling wax a finally stir to mix the components.
Here I am ladling wax into the molds. The molds were first heated in a microwave to help the wax flow into the recesses of the mold. I also butterfly the molds open to pour wax into the bottom of the mold. You couldn't do this with resin and it'd be messy and wast a ton of resin.
But with wax I don't really care if it overflows the mold. I have a bowl lined with aluminum foil to catch any spillage. When done I place the bowl in the freezer for a few minutes to harden the wax so it comes off easily. Then back into the melt pot it goes.
My melt pot is a $20 multi-cooker from Walmart.
Here are the molds in one of my pressure pots. Pressure casting ensurs that the wax gets into the molds details, and it makes the the wax harder and more dense.
Here's the pot pressurized to 60 psi, alot more than necessary. But the higher the pressure the harder the resulting wax will be.
And the results:
Admittedly, the casts of the grinder aren't perfect; but that's due to the flaws in the mold that I show earlier. They cleaned up very nicely.
The main benefit of using wax besides it being reusable, is that its very easy to smooth and to carve fine details. With my wax pen I can also draw on fine details as well. So, once I gat the her smooth and tollerance the surface on the sculpt. I be drawing on the belly veins, and carving in a complex Henna pattern like this one:
or this:
On second thought maybe I should just doe the pattern in micron pen once she's painted? Maybe something like this custom Lord of Change buy Metal Fingered Villian:
Oh yeah, I cast this guy too. He'll be getting some additional detailing as well.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
A quick size comparison of my various Slaaneshi Daemons. Hmm...just realized the every mini in the army it topless. Breast and wings everywhere. It just needs some biscuits and a side of potatoes and gravy.

Really love the nurgling miniature Daemonettes. With you sculpting clay (that is what Aves Sculpt is correct?) on the 'nettes do you plan to paint them up with the Aves on them? Also, how robust is it to normal wear and tear of play?
I've used GS before and been happy with its durability, but I have avoided materials that seem more brittle.

Hi Guys,
I've been working on new stuff, as well as cleaning up and in some cases replacing some of the older sculptures and conversions. I gotten a bit better since I started this project and a few things were falling behind. The important thing is that I'm learning...I guess.
So, first up I when back and replace all the riders on Pleasureseekers.
They all have lances and shields. The models with extra kit, such as the Alluress and musician have their shields strapped on their backs. Anyway these are ready to paint now.
Parts List:
Bodies - Seekers kit
heads - Seekers and Daemonette kits
claws - Seekers and Daemonette kits
humanoid hands & arms - WF Vampire Counts - Ghouls kit
Lances & swords - WF Dark Elves - Cold One Riders kit
Shields - WF Dark Elves - Cold One Riders kit
Mount - WF Warriors of Chaos - Slaanesh Lord kit
Wings - WF Brettans - Pegasus Knight kit
Daemon Princess:
I also re-sculpted the tentacle hair on the Daemon Princess. I just didn't like how stiff it looked. So this is more like the original version I sculpted way back. Much more dynamic and layered. Plus, since its in sections like the hair of the new Dark Elf - Supreme Sorceress it should much easier to cast.
More later!

Yes, I'm still using aves for conversion. It's great stuff, very durable. While very hard it is not brittle like Milliput and other epoxy putties. It also sands like a dream.
shingouki:
Thanks with the molding issues I had I wasn't expecting much, and was pleasantly surprised as well.
FantasyBob:
Yeah the superglue nipples is a hack. But they get the job done and look quite perky in my opinion.
The mini next to the flute player is my stand in for the changeling in my counts as Horror squad. When done she'll be sporting a Commissar cap and jacket, with bolt pistol.
The Fiend will have several heads, torso's and arms. The legs will be common to all, as their based off the Seeker mounts. I'll vary the poses though from crouching to rearing. I want to have at least 5 variants.
I'm also working on a Slaanesh conversion kit for the standard issue Soulgrinder/Defiler.
Lhunara:
I've already got the head molded. I'll be re-working it in wax. When its done any new DP casts I sell will have it rather than the old tentacle head.
Ralin Givens:
Thank you.
A Black Ram:
Thanks! I really do have to get painting on these, I already have a intimidating mass of plastic and resin to power through. I'm still shoppong around for a paint scheme so if anyone has some suggestions, please post them.
Bangbangboom:
Thank you.
Okay stuff:
I have a week off from work starting tomorrow, so I want to post up the first part of a wax sculpting tutorial, I'm making on the Soulgrinder. I also got all 30 seekers completed, although I might boost them to 3 units of 12 to keep them divisible by "6". I also gearing up to do some Slaanesh and possible other God's symbols and icons in brass etch. I got my tank and laminator and most of the gear. So, i'll be posting a tutorial of that eventually as well. I'll be a game day this weekend as well.

Okay I finished my 1st Damon Princess the former eldar harlequin Sor'dia'del. She has the DP#1 body, the new tentacle head with some additional sculpted tentacles.
I really like the new tentacle hair. It's much more dynamic and layered.
After looking through my Slaanesh reference images I saw a few things I wanted to added. She was seductive as all things Slaanesh should be but not monstrous enough. So I decided to add some elements from current GW KOS model and this image:
Note the spiky bony plates growing out of the rib-cage and cradling the breasts. I used spare horns from the seeker mounts to recreate them here. Actually I've used those horn bits several times in the army: the Gluttons, KOS, DP's, chariots, Pleasure seekers and of course Seekers all have them added is different ways. I'm using it as another unifying design element like the wing motif, tentacles and nudity.
She's got some additional spikes piercing the skin at the hip joints.
She just needs a bit more clean up and then she's just need painting and some Slaanesh brass-etch symbols.
Heralds:
These all still need names and backgrounds.
More Later!

A few close ups on the Heralds:
The first one are pretty much just kit bashing. The second the same with a slight repose. The last one is a Frankenstein combining a Reaper vampire mini, with daemonette and seeker bits, plus weapons hands taken from two different Dark Elf kits. she less top heavy than the others, so I compensated with a bit more junk in the trunk.
I've never really liked the Masque mini. How could the same guy who sculpted the older metal daemonettes sculpt that thing? She has two breast but instead of being next to each other their on above the other? Really? Anybody no who sculpted the new plastic daemonettes and seekers? Anyway, here's my converted version. I kept what I felt were the best parts the hair and skirt. The face was weird so I replaced it with a bald daemonette head and sculpted the transition from the new head to the hair. I also used a seeker torso and daemonette legs to get her proportions closer to the plastics. The banner is from the WF Slaanesh Lord mounted on a Boobworm. The other herald has a WF Dark Elf sword and one of the Masque's missing arms.
Updated to the KOS:
So after looking at my reference pics:
I decided add some additional bling to the model.
Let me tell you trying to bend those tiny little links that hold the chain to the larger rings was a real #$%!. The chain and two shorter strands attached to the lower eventually hold a brass-etch Slaanesh symbol in place. Oh, he also got two additional stubby little horns, to bring him up to the sacred number of "6".
The Slaanesh symbol around the neck is from the Chaos Space marine icon, just cut down.
I wanted to add something to the open hand. So I thought how about a nice pimp glove made from supple Eldar skins. The gem on the glove is part of an Eldar infinity circuit. The trapped souls within are always available to torment for his amusement.
Lastly looking at the reference pictures; you guys were right he needs some eyes. The face just doesn't emote without them.
speedfreek:
Thanks, you guy keep me motivated.
ceorron:
I picked out elements that I like from different chariot pics a researched on Google. Your may even have been among them. Please post up a picture or link when you get the chance I'd like to see them.
Lhunara:
I originally bought that mini to be the leader for my metal seekers; but it turned out to be a non-heroic scale 25 mm mini, its super tiny. She a Parkinson Masterworks - The Summoner - Female Sorceress. Cost me around $9 when I got her a few years ago.
So, tiny nude woman...what to do with you? Hmmmm......I got it a hood ornament!
Ghiest1:
Yeah, I really like it. I might by some Reaper nymphs to use in a similar way.
FantasyBob:
Yeah, it doe look a little odd in those pictures. I think it might be the angle though.
Phototoxin:
I was a game modeler, but at the moment I work in advertising. At least until my oil painting and figure sculpture work takes off. I hope!

I just received one of your Keeper of Secrets about 9 days ago (and have been working on it. Might post some pics in the future in another topic), and as I've watched its progress before I even knew it would be casted and for sale. I must say it's a very wonderful model (not sure if mini is the correct word for this guy ) and it definately was a must-have when I discovered it, as I always wanted my Keeper of Secrets to have a more monstrous look than the rest of its lesser kin, and something that makes this one better is that is almost (if not) as large as the FW Bloodthirster (I like the FW KoS, but it's not very different from its lesser kin and I'm not the biggest fan of the GW one's big hands and head that makes the rest of it look small in a bad way).

Love the work as usual. It is interesting that you added a Slaanesh symbol necklace to your KoS. I added one to the Daemon Princess I got from you last year using GS, nestled right down on her chest.
Naturally though I lack your sculpting skills with my rendition though.

first of all i would like to comment on an ealer post.
armor is always awesome for sculpts and would look great but deamons dont wear armor really so it should be for showing off well you can figure that out. to enhance breast and female endowments
as for tails...well they are hard to get to look good
as for naughty bits =) always make them
though while deamons don't wear armor the drawings you did were amazing
i can honestly say that what you do is art
...have you ever thought of doing your art for a chaos nurgle army?

This thread should not be!

Wow! Your soul grinder looks absolutely amazing! I wish I had a model like that in my army, so beautiful and kind of hideous at the same time, like something out of Silent Hill.
Can't wait to see your models fully painted

Really like the flute playing Daemonette - very striking and natural pose - but the one next to it looks like its wearing a sailor hat....?
The chariots are brilliant.
The greater daemons don't do as much for me, (though they're well beyond what I could do). I think even more bling is called for....

EninOfChaos:
Hey, thanks for buying one. I agree with you as mucha as I love my FW KOS, she just doesn't seem as imposing as even the GW Bloodthirster. The GW KOS is as tragedy however.
Calypso2ts:
I want to add more Slaanesh symbols as well. I'm still working on making brass etch ones though. Once I get that done I get alot of mileage out them. More diverse chariots, lots of bling for my future True-scale Emperor's Children.
Marmaduke:
Thank you for your comments. I have to disagree regarding daemons wearing armor though. While they don't wear it much in 40K, in WF there is literally a hoard of source material for armored daemons. Even Slaaneshi ones, though admittedly with then its more along the lines of women and lingere. Sometimes, its more sexy to be less naked?
Chuckwilliams:
I know...I know.... Anybody got any ideas for a unified paint scheme?
Flachzange:
Thank you. Chaos is seductive isn't.
B0B MaRlEy:
But is that so wrong?
Ghiest1:
Hey thanks for posting that. I have parts for more chariots than I'll ever use so I'll be putting up at least 2-3 more soon.
Squigsquasher:
What has been seen can not be un-seen... But hey what did you expect when you cliked the link. "Slaanesh Theme Army" pretty much say it all. But if it disturbed you I'm happy, because it was meant too.
Hey...at least I didn't rape your eyes with erect schlongs and stuff... Ha!
TheSinfulRapture:
Thank you. Silent hill is definitly a favorite of mine, along with Clive Barker and Japanese horror films.
Kestral:
Thanks. I've wanted to add a flute player for a while now but have not gotten around to it until recently. The daemonette with the "sailor hat" will be wearing a Comissar cap and will stand in the "Changling".

I see you're asking for a paint scheme, and I've already started to work on my KoS.
For its skin, I've been working on a more humanoid skin tone rather than the pale, purple-ish one of the new Daemonettes or the white with the pink shades of the previous edition of the Daemonettes and the *inserts at title so terrifying to behold that it will make the human eye crack and bleed* GW koS... For its horns, a generic bone-like tone. I haven't really been thinking of the loin cloth and claws yet, and I must say, I'm really fond of painting this beast, though it's a pretty big model.

Those are immense. I love the lance-armed cavalry and your Changeling/Commissar especially, but the flute player made me chuckle (Irish heritage :-) ). The chariots look brilliant, very other-worldly.

Sersi, I have been fallowing this thread for an few years now off and on, I do my own commission GS sculpting and am thinking of dabbling in resin casting for my armies now that I have my nerve up ; )
First, thank you for sharing so much knowledge on casting with resin!
Now I was just curious if at some point you could do a simple run through (step by step) on the use of the machines like the vacuum and pressure pot during the casting process, sort or a run through of how the instruments should be handled so I don't blow my arm off ha ha... I am not sure how long to run the machines or to leave them closed in the vacuum for example, do I vacuum the air out of the rubber then relieve the pressure chamber with a valve? I know your busy and have shared so much and I am truly grateful as I have been digging to find information on this process but it is very difficult... Even a link or book title would help a lot, thanks again! love the army!
