Snipers in the tower so I went up to see how my boys are doing.. Harker gave me a fun fact on our way up.. He said, " These boys are the best the Imperium has to offer as far as snipers go.. out of all of our fights..my sniper are responsible for 71% of our kills.. Most of the, time the enemy is dead before I can even see them..."

More snipers moving out to secure an over watch position on a hill.. I was very impressed with the stealth Sergeant Harkers men displayed..

We then started out on a patrol to a shrine where vendetta gunships spotted eldar forces the day prior.. The patrol was quiet, The squads returned to clover safely and are ready to be brought back to battle group HQ for some down time.. Here are some pics of the patrol..

You guys have done some great stuff, and its awesome to see fellow soldiers with a passion for the hobby, I really like your forest terrain pieces, high speed stuff there.

I just recently retired as of xmas, and have been trying to get motivated to continue painting, so I will use your example to get my rear in gear.

yup more time less money , but will do, I will try to do some stuff in the style you have already established, will need to get to work on my terrain, it took a beating during the move off post.

Don't be in to big of a rush to get retired, I was medically retired. (got blown up a few to many times) and now its dealing with the VA.

But any rate this hobby has been a godsend, and I got about 6-8 of my troopers into it as well.

Hey everyone,

One of my guys got back in town today ..hope to get a game on soon..maybe battle rep it.. I have been catching up on my terrain, and right now I am working on a experimental building technique. it was originally a scrap cardboard block about and inch thick. I glued some cellfoam down broken and spread out then I painted checkered tiles.. but then I came up with an idea..

I recently just but a photo printer..i thought why not download some pics, and use them as my own paper graphics! I downloaded a pic of an old decayed floor and used it between my broken tiles..The realism it gives off is awsome and saved me a ton of painting time..check it out.

On the outside I used ,downloaded pics of old decayed stucco, and old brick wall..

On the inside I used a red old decayed stucco, and or the small wall a pic titled old wall.. the outer walls are mad of thick cellfoam and the interior walls are a thinner cellfoam. I used an alternating mix of super glue and elmers glue...super glue as a tac, and elmers for the final hold.. The red stucco looks amazing..

Next I download images of old windows until I found some I Like. I printed them to the desired size..Them I elmers glued them to thin cellfoam and cut them out with a razor, traced my windows on the wall and cut the window hole and fitted them in.. they still need a shave and window frames to cover the gaps..but man I am more than happy with how it is turning..

Brilliant idea, I will have to try this out on my printer, what size/scale were they in, and or site that you downloaded the pics for the "wallpapers", I am very impressed at the results.

Hey soo`vah`,cha..Scale really depends on your building and the scale of the pic you downloaded..I have been using 4x6,wallet size, and transfer sheet settings..

Check it out. I realized today after cleaning up my sprue that I had laying around that I have a buttload of unused bits. So I have an offer for bits for guys that are currently deployed.

I have bits for Codex: Space Marines, and Blood Angels(Sanguinary Guard, Death Company bits). Bits are free to any guy that can provide me an APO address that is in Afghanistan, or Kuwait. This offer stands until May 1st. PM me with what you need/want, and your APO address, and I'll see if I can scrounge up any pieces you might want. Only caveat is that you not request bits for completing models(like asking for legs, a chest, head, arms, shoulder pads, and backpacks). That will be a PITA to get to you, as I will be using a small envelope. Hopefully I can get the bits you need in the envelope using "free mail". If you are at FOB Apache or KAF I will hand deliver the bits to you. Its a shot in the dark that you're in RC south, but hey you never know. Unfortunately for non-deployed guys you'll have to buy your own bits, or wait until I get home and can fix my Paypal where I'll get it to you for super cheap. If any of your soldiers are deployed, please pass this on to them.


E, great looking stuff man. I have 5 assault marines to build and then I'm half complete with my 2nd Company. I ordered the second half, which should arrive at my house sometime next week. End state is about 10K worth of Ultramarines, but we'll see how much heart I have to paint blue for months on end.

Boom! Got motivated to throw some decals on after getting my case. Here they are. Still a bit of work to do, but the rest will have to wait until I make it stateside.

Fire head the space marines look great.. Good decal work! Every time I try to use the decals I jack it up somehow..lol I have a game against blood angels tomorrow.. Ill try to post a battle report.. Djdakka welcome to the thread .. Post freely! Where is 6th rtb stationed?

I've found that you have to cut the decals REALLY close to the actual image portion of the decal, then in the case of the ultramarines, i cut out a V or |_| shape in the center of the to get it to bend properly around a shoulder pad. Apply some decal solution to the surface, then on the decal. Let it dry for a bit, then apply some decal solvent to flatten it out once the solution has dried. Dry it off and press it flat with a paper towel/tissue and its good to go.

I'll take some parting pics of my work that I currently have completed before I put it away. Some bonus pics tomorrow(Sunday 27APR2013) as well

Obviously I never got around to taking pictures. I'm on my way out of country, and had to ship most of my stuff home(which I can say all my 40K stuff made it to my folks house, I just need to inspect it).

E, you've been very quite. Hows everything going with the modelling? I'd love to see more of your work. I have quite a bit of stuff on my agenda for when I get home, including some custom builds/scratch builds, and some fluff for my IG unit I'll be building after I finish my UM stuff.

Not yet man, I'm stuck here for a few more days while I wait on a flight out. Just doing internet shopping to fuel the fire until I step foot back into AZ.

Ok dakka it has been awhile since my last post. A lot of games have been played since then .. I have finally played my first apocalypse game.. It was so huge we only made it through two turns..but it was awsome.. In about a week my circle has to bid fare well to my good friend SPC. Aguayo.. He is our Tau player.. He will be shipping out to Korea .so if there are any players over there he will be looking for a new circle to join..

I also have two battle reports I'll be posting..

I went first and at the end of my shooting phase I fired every single weapon possible, I killed one lone space marine..
FIRST BLOOD BABY COUNT IT! One devastator down..

Blood angels turn one drop pod assault.. Reinforcements for the devastator squad I was harassing come bringing death from the skies..sturnguard veterans..

Sturnguard vets fire on SGT harker's squad killing Harker and a few guardsmen, using specialized ammo to take away their cover save...

Oh yeah space marines had moved to better defended cover.

Other then burning down some of harker's squad delaney's shooting phases did not produce many results..

On turn 2 my astropath's +1 to reserve rolls pays off.. All reserves enter the combat zone.. Two Valkyries loaded with a veteran squad each, a vandetta, one 5 man storm trooper squad and solid snake

My medusa fires at the occupied bunker..glancing the 14 armor killing a marine inside . My two storm trooper squads fire at the bunker killing another marine but not destroying the bunker ..

The griffon fires at the Sturnguard veterans and gets a couple..

Delaney rolls for reserves, his storm raven comes in loaded with his HQ and 20 marines .. It zoomed across the board towards my objective and fires at my medusa.. Shaking it.. His terminators stay in reserve..

Then the four remaining space marines fire at solid snake .. Nothing happens
