Nearly finished this guy, just need to green stuff the areas in-between the armour and paint! Apart from that he’s done! Also got a 2nd hand metal predo kantor for £2.99 today too! Only the banner was missing-I didn’t notice that when I was buying but still a steal. He’s painted and will be stripped so should I paint him crimson fists convert him or use him in my army? The only problem is I now have too many pw fists in my army...

Got some sculpting done on this guy, just have right leg hip part, bottom of right leg (bionic leg) grip thing and right thumb left to do. Sorry that this update is later than expected I ended up revising all day yesterday as I have a rather important maths test next week. I did get something done yesterday tho! Started playing around with some bits and have kind of changed one of my sarges-nester. still has a Storm bolter its just different I also swapped his arm for a unpainted one same arm just a different shoulder pad, I may shave it down to look like a mk 5/6 pad as the studded pad is meant to go on the left arm not right! Lastly I made a new character guy, when playing around with some bits...Same again he’s just blue-taced together atm. Can you guess what model he is based of? Lastly heres my army list long overdue as ideally I should have shown this before I started the project, but got 'pre-occupied'.

Vik, thanks mate! Means alot, so should I use the fancy backgrounds again instead of the blank paper? Glad you like him, he currently has a basecoat on him atm so yea. The problem is I have updates planned but I've mislaid the lead for my camrea so I cant upload the pics onto the pc! :( When I figure out the ways of tecnolgy I'll post a finished wip of the guy and a current version later. However, I now feel that I have rushed him a bit and want to add more onto him, I'm thinking a scope for the storm bolter some grandes and a large ammo pouch? Once again its hard to see if theres no pics but any ideas for assories? Now is the best time to do it as only the baseocat has been aplied and not too much paintwork done to him yet...

Here’s the finished WIP for Sergeant Theron of the 'Range Finders', very pleased on how he has turned out as this is knida some of my most sculpting work that i have ever done before! One thing is getting to me tho; that I feel that I may of rushed him a little I've been playing around with some bits and I'm thinking of adding a scope to the storm bolter, give him some crack (grenades) and possibly some extra spare ammo for the storm bolter? I mean a Space Marine doesn’t go to war with one bolter clip and possibly 1 grenade?!?! I may also start to add spare ammo, grenades, blot pistols ect to my other marines as well... anyway hope you guys like, also is it me or do you keep seeing your FB profile pic on the liked bit on the homepage every time you log into dakka? I don’t know about you but its kinda freaking my out.

personally i like marines that come with more than one clip for their bolter and more grenades... tho you have to be wary for making the model look too busy... a thin line, eh?

as for the backgrounds... well... depends...if you just want to show some quick infos on your WIP i think blank backgrounds are the best choice... but if you want to spoil us with a finished model of yours... why not use a fancy background? i know weety and some other well known cracks of painting use these with great results...

oh... forgott... one thing i wouldn´t do for the bolter is the scope... reasoning behind: he has a big amo drum... so he is likley to be one of those screaming marines that´s schucking out pellets like anything... he´s definitly not the "aiming" type of marine then, if you catch my drift

Thanks for the reply vik! I guled the scope on yesterday and gs it. So I geuss it wont be coing off! But It does wake the gun way tooooooo thick! I think that I may then add the spare ammo still not sure about the granded atm tho! Ive taken some pics with fancy backgrounds but yea wip shots may just be some white paper I geuss...

Ah, marine mini conversion, just like the old RT days!

One photography tip Hazz, when showing off your plastic surgery awesomeness, lower the camera to miniature height. You are shooting at a downward angle, and it's difficult to see the leg, it looks like a stump from that angle. Get down

Hi guys,
I've managed to get a lot of painting done today! Finished the armour done the face twice (not that happy with it tho I guess that’s what test models are for eh?) does anyone have tips/tuts for painting faces cause I couldn’t find a decent one on you tube. He’s also now a Blonde Ultramarine! All that is left is gold, silver, decals (as I am having squad helrary), base then weathering and 2 weeks to do that in! Very pleased on the amount that I was able to do today. For the sergeant marking ~I wanted to mix old school (the stripe down the helmet) and new school (so white outline to mark him out as a vet). I need to tidy it up a bit more but apart from that that looks ok.

at first i thought the pics showed that you painted the face and gun in bronze...then i realized it was just black primer with a way too warm lighting LOL...

then my next near heart attack came when i saw the orgyn flesh was pic ... looked to me as if you´ve melted the face LOL...fourtunatly the later pics all put these first errors on my part into perspective^^

I've been getting lots of work done this week on Veteran Sergeant Theron! Re-painted the face for a third time and finally looks ok! I am a lot happier with it now, tho the eyes are a bit big! Nearly all of the metallic’s are done now as well the free hand on the helmet has been tidied up and looks loads better all that is left is the purity seal, markings, gold clean up, weathering/ chipping and the base! Because most of the mod was done at school I wasn’t able to take progress pics (its not very wise to take a £300 camera to school), but I'll put down the recipes instead down below (they are mostly the old colours with a few new ones mixed in);

Silver

Basecoat: Boltgun Metal

Wash:Badab Black

Highlight: Mitheral Siver, then Chainmail

Gold

Basecoat: Calthan Brown

Highlight: Burnished Gold then Shining gold (may add in a wash tho)

Blonde hair

Basecoat: Calthan Brown

Highlight: Snakebite Leather then add Dheneb Stone and some Bad Moon Yellow to the mix for a final highlight.

Face

Basecoat: Tallarn Flesh

Wash: Ogryn Flesh

Re-aply Basecoat and layer up Tallarn Flesh with more and more Dheneb Stone.

The red and white stripe down the helmet was Blood Red and White Scar.

i had a look up close to your model just now... i think there seems to be a slight assembly error on the shoulder arm section... it seems the arms are not glued to the right spots...

and atm i think the bionic leg looks a bit akward in its position... tho this could be fixed with a bit of warmth... lamplight for instance... and you could bend it a bit if you are careful... or...what exactly are your plans to the base? then maybe the running stance will be more in perspective...

oh and while i am at it... i think atm yon sarge is suffering from a mild sunburn... tho i dunno how to fix that...

No Facebook just did! Got a new reward system thing where you can buy stuff with it and someone said that they had 450,000,000. As for the face I'll do somthing. What do you mean about the arms? They have been reposed and sculpeted.

well mostly it is because of the shoulderpads... they are a bit far apart from the actual joints...at least i know my own marines have them more closer to the shoulders... if that´s understandable...

as for FB... ??? i guess i then have minus points...LOL...

Ha ha ha! Tbh I've only just got FB, As for the arms/shoulder pads I was trying to do it so he had his arms kinda out becking anouther challange while still gravely woundeed.

And a blub blub blub. Got my test model finished now very pleased with him! All I have done is battle damage, free hand; ammo pouch and snow here are the recipes;

Battle damage

Paint on ice blue

Then go over the top with 50:50 Scorched Brown and Abandon Black leaving only the ice blue on the edge

Ammo Pouch

Basecoat: Calthan Brown

Highlight: Graveyard earth

Highlights: Bleached Bone

Wash: Baddab Black

Freehand

Using Cremate White, plot points of what you want to freehand, then fill in tacking your time!

Snow

Mix Woodland Scenic’s Realistic water and Bicarbonate of soda and apply to where you want he snow

Then sprinkle Bicarbonate of Soda over the wet area!

Sorry about not being able to update for a month, it’s been rather hectic tbh! Unfortunately I wasn’t able to post an update before I had gone away to see some family however, I have managed to get lots done while up there! I have added many subtle conversions if it be adding an ammo pouch to a box standard AOBR marine or a head swap. I hope the pics are ok, don’t really wanna say that much as I feel that the pics show it off. The idea behind the squad is that they are geared up enough to battle i.e. a decent amount of ammo to last more than a clip, as well as advancing through the snow firing over each other to cover their squad mates while getting towards the objective. One idea that I have just thought of while typing this is to cut the legs of mid shin to emprise the idea that they are in waste deep snow. What do you think?

Its going pretty good thx. I've been trying to do the sculpting for these guys and it really isent working! I'm also waiting for some bits orders and other stuff to come through as well..
