Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

Update your flash player Vik.

I only have the real one on VHS, and no VCR anymore

They're the reason I don't get rid of my VCR

Dave's new Hobby Adventure thread | More buildings for the Building God! @ 2013/03/17 09:51:36

Post by: Viktor von Domm

well... i still have my VCR copies if the first, true films... but the films are way overused... so plenty of errors and such stuff^^...

hmmm... that video problem might be indeed related to the not updated flash player...

and i still use IE... yeah... but what else should i use? will my link list travel with me the way i want/need it when i change my browser???

Dave's new Hobby Adventure thread | More buildings for the Building God! @ 2013/03/17 12:37:36

Post by: Ruglud

I'm on IE9 and no problems with the embedded videos - if you do change to Firefox (other browsers are available) then as far as I know you favourites go with you - I did this on my laptop before the hard-drive died and didn't lose anything - but since I had the new HDD I haven't moved away from IE9, although obviously everything was wiped so am starting from scratch again

Dave's new Hobby Adventure thread | More buildings for the Building God! @ 2013/03/17 12:42:05

Post by: Viktor von Domm

well...i make no big story out of my fear to loose everything due to a change of browser ...(fear is irrational...) so i am atm sticking still with IE8...yeah i know...i should do something about that...

Dave's new Hobby Adventure thread | More buildings for the Building God! @ 2013/03/17 13:02:37

Post by: Ruglud

Upgrade to IE9 - you won't lose anything... Should also sort out your youtube issues

BTW, by happy coincidence - my boy out of the blue decided to put Star Wars IV: A New Hope on, so we're just settling down to watch it over a good hearty roast beef Sunday lunch - good days

ahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! i settle for your lego creations every day mister!

what makes me wonder is the brightness of the main structure of the deathstar... somehow i would have thought they would have used the drak grey bricks for that build...Hmmmm...

the more to the theme pics were a pleasure for my sore eyes... but the true icing of the cake... that were the funny pics... leaque of evil...LOL... love it! and my kids will go wild when they see the bathing suit stormtrooper... in the game lego star was the complete saga there is an easter egg scene where you jump in on two stormtroopers in bathing suits... hillarious!

that darth maul of the christmas calender kit i instantly recognized... but i burst out laughing when i finally (after your mentioning) recognized the chicken... every body cower before the evil chicken!!!

great story telling... and i imagine you have spiced up the scenes with many soundeffects accordingly??? i bet you did^^

also... the decapitated gungan is a nice nod towards justice... tho i long for a lego mini of lucas top put on that" maintance" desk of the droid maintanace centre^^

Fantastic!
I went into work this morning only to find out I no longer have a job. In a rare change for Corporate America, they gave me a generous 4 weeks severance pay. I'm actually relieved, I hated my job in a way.
Well, this means no new hobby purchases for awhile, however I have plenty stockpiled to do already.

Thanks a lot guys! The support is much appreciated. The thing is, Corporate America doesn't want resourceful people that get the job done, they want the equivalent of Zombies, unthinking, unchallenging, and brainwashed into the corporate doctrine. I'm just not that guy. I find and fix problems, but sometimes those problems are the cause of someone else not doing their job. Well, when you correctly identify the part in the machine that has failed, it becomes political, usually because some manager is afraid to admit one of HIS/HER people fethed up. All I need to do is find work that I love in an environment where they REALLY do want me to find and fix the problems, not just shut my mouth.

Well that job might be a hard one to find after all management love incompetence it makes them look like they are needed, I am sure you will find something whether you like it or not is another question LOL but hey at least you got your hobby

If it gets really bad we will have to start the" Dave hobby fund charity " where you can provide funds, gift vouchers for the major hobby outlets/manufactures and of course model and miniatures donations.

Dam that would be a pretty cool job but I would imagine the demand levels could be quite high, after all you're building for someone else's designs or visions.

All you need is someone to build Necromunda Fall Out World, hell you would be quids in LOL you could employ the league as your support and design team or at least for the riveting

I just can't imagine very well or something..

I don't see how humans, living on frontier worlds would have time to make everything in geometric shapes, so that means it needs to be clean-ish..high-tech manga-super-city...not much room for weathering? I dunno

Yes, see your point as to the clean geometric styling, but it could have been a high-tec manga-super-city that was on the border of the frontier worlds (you know to encourage settlers for developing new land) with a bloody large wall around it.

However the walls have fallen from constant fallout storms, regular frontier worlders interference and ongoing attacks by scavengers and other gangers.

This has left the area deserted, looted and ransacked leaving the dwellings in a dilapidated state, these have been taken over by squatters mobs using them as gang houses.

actually for the very same reasons i haven´t even considered to buy micro arts terrain stuff in the slightest... way to clean looking... soulless for me...(taste is very subjective... so no reasoning needed here^^)

as for the modelling job... just the other minute my wife asked me how you are... and what your plans are... and we both thought... why IT... gods damn it... hy not modeling for profit?... now you come with such a cool job offer...well... you could at least tell these gentlemen your name and show them some of your stuff.... after all you now have some time on your hands... you never know... the roads in life are twisty and bendy...

Good luck finding a new job.

I'm with LDD on the buildings, Just because it was built as a high-tec manga-super-city, the recession could have hit, everyone important left for somewhere better and the whole area boarded up and left to decay...

HA HA HA recession yes gets us all eventually even in the necromunda world.

Look I even gave you the back ground for it, it is such a common one as well

Dave you can do it

Vik think about it the hives and underworlds will be crappy badly built make use of whats their, but the upper crust will have there polished soulless clinical abode.

Plus Dave can ruck them up a bit smash a few pieces, weather them a bit of blood splatter yada yada you get the jist

You don't have to do it old and decayed.
It might be nice to see you do a really clean and new looking piece, might be a nice challenge...
or, Or (thinking as I type) at least lived in like bag end, not neglected but not new.

The point was, that just because it looks like it was built all high-tech and manga-crisp & clean, doesn't mean it has to stay that way. Look at the Fallout universe... That corvega of yours was once clean and new.

I said it earlier, make models for money! You got the mojo.

Concerning the appartments, I remember a nice sub-story in the early days of Perry Rhodan, where a colonisation company shipped settlers to new planets, dropped an installment, all shiny and complete out of the box, then just skimmed the cream and forgot about the poor sods in every other way. I think that stuff would be perfect for such a scenario, slowly failing high-tech solutions replaced with what-we-have like sliding doors that are wielded shut and a new, hinged door cut into, annexes made from standard freight containers, chimneys for hard fuel cremating heater solutions (so called "ovens") later on patched onto the walls and / or roofs, grand bright advertisement panels praising the "company" and decorated with hate graffiti... basically a phase of the ruin before the squatters settle in, a bit like a space "Tombstone" after the silver starts to get rare.

Interesting idea love the ingenious use of parts , good old void minis, now I am thinking Kromlech sword and Micro Art heads am I correct ?

The pose is about spot on for her stance as well , there is hassle free miniature that reminds me of her as well but this is better

Will there be anymore of the gang arriving ?

I gather by the chains she will be accompanied by ex boyfriend and friend ? Minus arms and bottom jaw of course .

Dam you stole my idea I was thinking something along these lines myself, we'll at least you will do a good job on it.

This was the one I was thinking of using, but I think yours is better now

The only thing is the VOID mini was from the 90's, and thus hip-hugger pants apparently were not invented yet Yep, she'll have a couple of jawless, armless geeks with her

The sword is from the Warlord greatcoats I think, and yep, you called the MAS head. You're a bitzmaster LDD< I even forgot the company name

This is a helpful reference pic for sure

Honestly, I don't remember LDD, she was hefting this huge rifle

And what looks like a mold-line running down her right arm was an implanted cable. And she had a long pony-tailed head, which flew across the garage and landed who knows where when I clipped it off
The POny Tail ran all the way down her back and ended on the left cheek of her ass, which I had to clip and file down- I probably should work those areas some more. If all else fails, primer will show me if I got it all, failing that even, Vik will surely point any of that out

LMAO I wondered what the hell the first pic was for then I realised when I saw the second pic

I think I know the mini pretty dam sure I think I might own a copy of her myself some where

The dreads look pretty cool the idea was a good one wire and LGS must remember that for future work

Yes, a little on bouffant but otherwise still cool looking, maybe in hindsight filing the head back first then added the hair but no biggie.

But once the paint job hits her I am sure it will not be that noticeable, love the last pic it like she is saying " this action figure sucks it looks nothing like me Hasbro must die "

Great work keep up the productivity

Is this her ?

The only thing I would suggest is add a little more ripped skin to the torso but brilliant I just cant wait to see this finished with the other walker now.

Now how about building the prison and yard

Vik you really need to watch it mate it can get a little stagnant at times but over all it is an amazing show, it is more about human nature than the dead rising to be honest.

Dam you me on that one, well I am sold mate and the time scale I swear you get quicker each time ]

Dave would you mind if I borrow this idea mate, I want to add this to my APOC project they look just to cool not to be added

not doubting... not doubting you...obviously not... that would be tantamount to heresy...

but i have my doubts about the head...or better the face... the actress is a real stunner...and the head of yours... it is a bit too much cro magnon... and too male looking for me... a thinner, more female looking one would have made my thoughts evaporate

tho i admit the bum is mightier than the sword

and since i have no idea really about the show.... she uses these Z´s as mules... cut off their arms and jaws... now (H-)armless these get dragged along? is there in the story line hapening something with these Z´s still or are thy just mere morbid tools till the end?

Just use them imagining before they died.

Bit late to mention how they seem to have lower jaws still, but I really like this and can't wait to see more anyway.

I'm hoping there might be a diorama based on that scene at the start of the series with the tank. But, that might be a bit crazy.

Heh..Michonne didn't cut the entire jaw out, she just cut out enough of the jaw that they couldn't eat.

And you can see how the prosthetic needed to fit over the actor's jaw too

Where there is Michonne, there will be Andrea

Here she looks badass with a sawed-off shotgun, but she is best with a pistol and knife (and the mini's pose doesn't lend to a shotgun IMHO)
A simple right hand/weapon swap on a Reaper Chronoscope Zombie Hunter mini, the pistol is stock

I just don't have very many miniatures/bits of men wearing plain clothing, so Not much in stock for Rick, Merle, Daryl, Carl, Hershel (but hershel would be a fun conversion!) etc. No baseball cap for Glen, I have several female miniatures, mostly wearing Wild West attire though, so not really suitable.

I have a Hasslefree Sadie B that will work as a Maggie, but comes with a shotgun, and Maggie is more of a rifle chick, so that'll take some conversion work as well.

Maggie Carries a bigass knife, so finally the Catachan Fang will be in scale for something
As much as I'd love to convert all the cast of the show, this little project will go on the back-burner until such time as I can throw resources at it again.
i.e. I'll finish it later.
But it was fun so far.

well i am impressed at the replicas of the show. I never watched it because i have a abnormally high phobic response to zombies. I not squishy around blood, or dismemberment or anything of the real deal, but something about the cannibalism, and that it is dead just drives me to insane amounts of fear levels. Other factor, zombie games dont scare me; only shows/movies. So i don't get it... In the end of my needless rant, well done really love the models.

Andrea needs to die she is a pain in the ass (ex lawyer ) but the model does fit the bill just stick a couple of zombies chomping on her neck

Maggie hubba hubba the hassle free mini is a fine match like the use of arms but are you going to bulk them out a little they seem a bit thin.

Don't worry Dave you will be buying new models soon enough, you can use this time to slim out the back log

Hazzer it is to cover her scent from other zombies, she keeps them close to her so masks the smell, thats why they have no arms or bottom jaws so they cant attack her.

Apparently (in the comic book) it mentions that they have become subdued over time, thats why they behave in a less erratic way.

So, not really a new method per se...but more of an improvement in rivet handling efficiency

1. Prepare a set of pre-cut rod lengths (these are .75mm- very small around and long enough to handle) tape one end, LIGHTLY brush liquid cement across the bunches

2. Cut the rivets!

3. They will come off in these easily transported strips

4. If you brushed the liquid cement on LIGHTLY enough, you can crumble them apart in your fingers, if not, use a knife

5. RIVET!

LDD!- spoiler that bit!

The prison would need a LOT of mesh..I don't have that much. It'll have to wait..or be modular in nature.

ATM I'm finally painting my Brotherhood of Steel minis.

If you did do the prison it may have to not be to scale as he main feild is so large and theres not really that many places that you always see througout the sirse. You could do the cell block and other room where they keep the food/old eating area with ease. Possably the cafteria, you could do both the feild and the other space which leads to the main building (the one that they fall back to in episode 9 or 10). That part could have the main gate house and the destoryed building. Mind you there would be a lot to grass tufts to be purchased! And then the wire mesh could be costly too!

I've also been thinking about Fallout miniatures, and I've realized the most common type of armor in FO:3 and vanilla New Vegas is the Combat Armor

Whether it;s Reilly's Ranger's ...

Those Talon Co. clones

It's a pretty adaptable armor color scheme-wise too, hence the plethora of recolor mods out there

Stylish too

So I have determined I must convert something similar
also..I NEED this mini....NEED

Any ideas for that?

Dave's new Hobby Adventure thread | More buildings for the Building God! @ 2013/03/25 15:44:21

Post by: Viktor von Domm

hmm... for the standard combat armor i would start with cadian bitz... a bit of PC for more articulated shoulderpads...

as for that other gear... maybe start with those heretics of the new 40k starter kit... the leader of the humans... and then add a suitable head?... i think RW made a good commissar conversion of this one that might hint some clues as to what to do...head looks mre russian to me... so maybe some gasmasked heads there?

Dave's new Hobby Adventure thread | More buildings for the Building God! @ 2013/03/25 15:50:39

Post by: dsteingass

Vik..I was thinking Cadian too..but I'll be damned if I can find any ..somewhere around here I swear..

I've got some Pig-iron (I think) heads

with almost suitable helmets, except that ridge would need clipped/filed off...maybe?

Without shoulderpads here, of course

Dave's new Hobby Adventure thread | More buildings for the Building God! @ 2013/03/25 15:57:50

Post by: Viktor von Domm

i think the heads are perfect... you are no 100% guy with your conversions... so a bit of indiviuality is fine!

and well... thought you were a bit more sorted

also... i expect you could even use cadian heads... add some rebreathers of the old command set?... if you have any? ...these could work if you sand down some of the more typical cadian details of those helmets...

hardest part is as always the long coat......or maybe you have some medival or witchhunter minis? or western looking ones?... they could work too...

Some of the artillary models are quite nice and could be remodelled to be holding a more appropriate gun?
Just an idea.

I have tried GS cloaks and they are ok but come out very "thick", even if I mix GS and miliput for added strength. Having said this your skills are way above my primative efforts.

yup, those are the pig-iron helmets.

also, DKoK commissars are possibly the most badass models ever released by anyone in the history of everything ever. ever.

*actually, the DKoK rough rider commissar is more badass, but was sadly limited edition... and to think, I went to the games day which he was sold exclusively in, and didn't get one... (no moneys)

Ahh thanks mates! nope, not my usual scale, this is 1/72, or Braille scale as it's affectionately referred to.
It's a brilliant modular design..lots of possibilities for customization, but I'm feeling like making it per the instructions, it's for an IPMS-USA review, and all my HO train stuff is packed away back in Ohio somewhere..

1/72 is such an odd scale for me. I love it and I hate it. I have a lot of soldiers and tanks from 1/72 that I wanted to use in Command Decision but no one else wanted to play 1/72. Anyway, I'm not really sure what I'm trying to say here. In any case I'm glad to see you modeling.

I like 1/72 because it's cheap to build an army, but painting soft plastic figs sucks. I use a ruleset called "Flying Lead" (A Lot like necromunda) and the games are all played on a 2x2' board. I also have the Command Decision ruleset, but I've never used it.

Cute puppy there Dave, now you'll get some breaks taking her walking, etc.

There are some definite rules that can be used for 15mm/25-28mm scale minis

so you are growing yourself a familiy there...watch your step... and you will be shopping for pampers next

and if it is possible (i know it is ridicúlous to think so even...) i would have to say... rivet is a cool name for such a sweet looking puppy!

that will be an intense time the next weeks and months^^

If I ever catch anyone punting any dog, I'd shove a running chainsaw up their ass! There is no sense for that kind of cruelty..ever.

They named her JuJu Bean at the shelter..I dunno, that may stick I look forward to the adventures of Puppy-raising again!..It's been a looong time since I raised a puppy.

LOL @ Vik...human children are for "other people"

Jst as funny as me running the over with my car. I like dogs, love cats, but allergic to all of them. I have enough fun with three kids. I keep telling my wife that when we retire were getting 5-10 wiener dogs which I will train to follow around me in a pack. They will growl on command and bare only one tooth when intimidating an onlookers.

Looking back on it I think I've put way too much though in it.

Yay Dave's joined the furry kid club with MEEEEEEEEE! :-) Rivet is pretty damn cute dude! and the Basenji isn't a very common breed either, although she has the stronger attributes of the terrier showing! does she have the curly basenji tail and the lack of bark? they date back to the 1930's and were reported to originate from Zaire, arriving in Australia and shortly after in America! they're a very nice and loyal dog Dave, hard to train and quite naughty, but they are reward enough themselves :-) did you know that their name means 'Bush Thing'? and the African villagers used them to flush out game for hunting but carried them around their neck like a scarf when they weren't working! :-)

Dave's new Hobby Adventure thread | More buildings for the Building God! @ 2013/04/11 15:12:02

Post by: dsteingass

I've been learning a lot about them, her tail is more terrier, and it whips back and forth like a propeller She has a bark..so I think she has more terrier in her than Basenji. I lost my 13 year old Shi-Tzu last summer, so I'm very excited and ready for her As far as hunting goes....You can see I am feeding these little guys corn in the backyard, so she'll have plenty to chase

Stuff is starting to get green here on my side of the globe

well.... this is not often i use this word... but she is a cute one...!

and i know understand that cruel term you discussed earlier... i had a feeling it would mean something like this...

our family currently lives in a three room apartment...four peeps... three rooms...not really much more room to spare for either dog and cat... i think it would be good for the kids... but honestly... cats are out of tzhe question... as i really hate the flying hair... mind you, some dogs have loose hair too...

well mostly we rejected the pet idea because of no space and it would be too cruel to have a dog here with us so cramped as it is...

but for everyone out there with a house of their own and a garden too.... i think any pet is a good way to give it a good home!

and i don´t really want to talk about humans (animals just aren´t reknown for their ability to inflict harm out of mischief) like those that act ...that....way...

Self aware kinda dog, cool!
I used to work at vet clinics a few years back, the neglect and abuse cases made me think, maybe the Chines got it right, take out back of the Police precinct and administer a 9mm pill for their particular sicko behavior, hate seeing what was inflicted on those dogs and cats, Some we could save, others, well, their suffering ended, and their owners got reported to the Police. If I described some of the horrors I saw inflicted on these pets, you all may have trouble reading the internets

This is our pup. She's about 11 or 12 years old and has a recurring cancer that keeps coming back on one of her paws. We're worried that it might have spread at this point. She also has cataracts and is starting to have joint problems. It may not be much longer, but she doesn't seem to have anything too terribly serious at the moment.

Thanks Dave I think so the one looking up is Jack a real lap dog but has small dog complex, thinks he can take on any dog no fear or brain

The one sleeping is Tosh friendly but independent dog lets you share some time with him when he wants you to, but if you have a ball he is your best bud

My Shi-Tzu had one eye (from trying to catch a golf ball off the Tee!), had Bladder stones twice, had to have half of her tongue amputated from dehydration waiting for the bladder surgery, and she ultimately died from kidney failure. The breed is so fragile health-wise, but they are also the biggest sweethearts.

Bloody hell she was a trooper and some, pedigrees suffer from health issues due to escalated defects from the over breeding and close relations.

Well, her mother was an abused breeder, when she was rescued, she was pregnant with the litter, so there was probably some in-breeding, but she really was a trooper

We had a beagle Labrador mix ht my wife rescued from the pound before we met. She was great even after we started having kids. She was protective of our babies as she would have been of her own if she had any. Sadly due to cancerous rumors she was put down years ago. My twins were two at the time and my oldest was four. No six years later they still say "I wish sunny was still alive", here it every day or two. We tried getting another dog (2 actually, brother and sisters that we rescued), but they kept nipping our twins, so we found another home for them together.

While I'm typing this my kids are playing quietly in the other room, and one of them is pretending to be sunny . They loved her as much as I did. Crazy 40 lb dog that would sit on the top of the chair (like a headrest) I would sit in.
