Ha ha ha ha!!! Your sooo funny snow in the UK!!! Twice a year!!!!! I doubt that it will tbh It is only often around for a week once a year than thats it...
Wow Dave, I have to come back for a proper look soon but I couldn't log off without saying 'Holy Feth that all looks awesome!' I love the Gangster diorama! the details are perfect and the Cylon base is cool, especially as you based it on the image of the shuttle bay!
Thanks Monkey!- working on that now
@Nerd- thanks bud...I was hoping to find hazard stripes on the Galactica, but found these instead. I just needed something to put there
Like the fact you used the ship bay for the cylon display base LOL nice job on the airbrushing work as well
The gangster base looks just brilliant the way everything fits in is just tops, I could not believe it when I saw that you addd the brick work to the outside as well
Dave you are just getting better and better (i really wish you wouldn't though LOL) Great job mate really impressed and love the fact you posed him looking out the window as well.
Two thing though needs an ash tray (as mentioned by Vik I think ) and a bin, I hate an untidy room
if someone thinks this isn´t ace... then he is due for a kickin´...
awesome looking dio! the whole scene could be straight from the untouchables...where they tried to intimize the clerk of capone? remember that scene? connery shooting a dead mobster in the head to scare the clerk? lovley!!!
back to yon dio...the floor looks really well used but scrubbed too... and the wallpaper...brilliant idea... same goes for the windows...this one has it all!
THERE'S all my readers! Thanks a lot guys..PLEASE don't tempt me with 1930's/1940's large, American automobiles with long, sweeping curves, two-tone roofs, spoked rims, bulbous windshields, and the sense of Individual freedom and vitality!
both the bae and diroma are lokking grate! For the diroama I'd add some bits of paper or letters on the shelf thing as that would add some more character to it as well!
Thanks Vik!- The ultimate Sexiness of the era is by far the 1950 Mercury IMHO This is the Coupe
This is the more common 4-door sedan with suicide doors My ex-father-in-law restored one of these, I've ridden in it, but never got a chance to drive it.- He painted his a red that was so dark, it looked black. It was beautiful!
But those curves are far beyond my plastic-bending abilities And I can't find any die-cast, or plastic kits in either (die-cast common scale) 1:32, or this scale 1:35 (common military kit scale)
See, I don't think Europeans realize how much chicks dig cars
@Hazz- thanks man- I've been thinking about that too, but I'm afraid real paper would be too thick, I'd need to use a fine, crispy tissue paper methinks..

Having just got back from the Cavalier wargames show in Tonbridge, I dare say that I should begin a sci-fi thread with all the gubbins I bought.
Unfortunately, my 2 essays and my Geography questions for tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday respectively seem to disagree... woe for the work-weary
Yep Vik- it just makes more sense for Fallout Miniatures @Lord, starting a thread is really easy! Some proper dents added with a metal poker and a bic lighter Old-Skool modeling.
Dave, a friend of mine from work imported a chopped 50 Mercury hot rod for 50 grand and re painted it mat black with white wall tyres and red and moon centres on the rims, it sat on the ground with the bags out and was barely above the tarmac when cruisin' :-) man he looked the gak when he drove it! he is 6'3 about 125 kilo into the Rockabilly scene covered in appropriate tats and is a state kickboxer! and the car was just perfect! something we've never seen in these parts before and just about everyone knew it :-)
That's as usual some mighty fine work with the car dave! the colour is cool and you just seem to have a knack for weathering that makes things look more real than others! I honestly would love to spend a week with you just learning the tricks and seeing first hand the processes you go through when building, perhaps you can write an e-book for us? :-)
i'll see if i can scrounge up a pic or 3 of that Merc for you!
and a little ot but in my thread you mentioned choc chip camo, I googled for tanks schemes but it doesn't have any? should i just use the striped and no bone on the tanks?
Thanks Rogue! Appreciate it man!
@Vik You like that little touch then?
@LDD- I used Vallejo UK Mediterranean Blue, and then UK Azure as a highlight (all RLM military colors believe it or not). I'll need to take better pics, because it looks much bluer this morning now that it is dry. As you can see it was first painted entirely in aged rust, then there are MANY light coats going on there built up in light layers. I tried to leave the rust colors around the panel lines, but I added more a-la pre-shading technique (like an airplane model). ANd yes I used GW Rhinox Hide with a sponge for the big chips. I could work that rust some more It's hard to tell, but I painted tiny strips chrome, then added them to the car as trim and then weathered and rusted them as well. Chrome trim gets an especially grungy, pitted look when it rusts through the chrome, and that's what I was shooting for.
Hey Dave! I'm so late to the party with this one :S Don't know how I missed it- its Hobbit related!!! I'm just catching up atm but the Hobbit stuff at the start looks great, I'm subbed- will look through the rest now xxx

Nice technique and effective so light spray on to the rust section building up gently, did you thin the paint down or just reduced the flow rate ? sorry to be a pain but I can use this technique for a couple of things
I thought you had added some extra strips to the side panels, I gather you sprayed plastic half round strips chrome then.
It looks great any way plus the colour looks perfect for the type of car, I think I need to get them as they would be perfect for my gang cars project
@LDD- I was using the Renegade Krome with the small needle for the smallest possible consistent pattern, so yeah, I thinned it probably 25%- just a few drops of each in the color cup and gave it a swirl it just takes a bit of fiddling with the pressure and needle limiter to get the right dot.
No, they are just little flat strips that come with the Evergreen metal roofing sheets (what I used for the diorama wainscotting)

I've been wondering about the possibility of doing more than 1 thread, for different projects also. Different threads means you will get whats advertised in the title, but it will be updated less frequently as the random stuff will go in a different thread.
I think for your thread dave its better to stay with 1 because of the community that lives in it

lol... i thought the "standing on the street" thing only aplied for big cities like new york und suchlike? i didn´t knew all americans are scavangers^^... tho... here in germany these kind of humans have the decency to only go about their business in the darkest of night^^
oh... you also need to add a before and after pic... for maximum effect...^^
Haha Rivets unite people, as well as steel plates... what can I say?
Well, I'm slightly dissapointed, as the Coffee Table we picked out specifically for it's LEGO-building usefulness had a broken locking mechanism, so we have to wait another week for a new one to be ordered This is what SHOULD be in the room too.
But, we have Rivets!
All recline, and is the first NEW couch I've ever owned in my entire life!
The old FUGLY couch is still out by the street, now soaked with freezing rain -
And for those of you who were gonna ask about my background stuff
This one is zoomable
My $5000.00 Yamaha Piano I bought for $75 and rented a box truck to get it home for $30
It sat in a climate/humidity controlled Commercial basement for 25 years, barely used.
that was pretty clear to me when i saw your piano... sersiously... you are so out of depth of the stereotype of an american with that one...i am actually nonplussed!
you have in that zoomable pic a lennon/beatles shrine...spiced up with a lego VW van...(*drools*)
a ?micromachine? vader head? in your bookcase...
for my sins i can´t really tell for sure if it is a poster of elvis or the man in black johnny chash...(the latter gets full marks )
and that B-wing model would get my son into a full wolfy roar...(tax avery of course)...
beside... colonial comfyness and sobre colors are in secret my second choice for a living room...unfortunatly we have so little natrual light coming in that we couldn´t afford dark furniture...so instead we opted for pine wood wich is lotsa fairer in color...but lacks style of course in heaps
well having a piano is sort of more than we often get to see what americans might be interested in... guitars are fine... but being interested in piano... that is old world kind of style...
and i thought this might be of the "walk the line" movie...^^
a candy jar! we don´t get these cool jars here... ours we have lying around are made to look like santa, a snowman or something more easter related... like beatles or bunnies...
OIMBSD....i think i am suffering from that too... ouch...not even only related to hobby stuff...even i like regular shopping... doing groceries and such like too... and going shopping when possible with my wife for some nice clothes too...ohoh...
No, I already explained how old and ugly the old sofa was, it was also uncomfortable- sitting in it hurt your back. LDD's is talking about himself..buys but never paints

Yes but I will have to start soon as the money is running thin I did get my Dreamforge drop the other day though £57 custom charge and the next order to arrive from them is even more costly But I have to say the kits look great and worth the custom charge
Vik no you do not have OIMBSD …… your just bloody gak crazy
Well after the last few posts here in the wonderful world of Dave, and seeing the regal lounge and piano, the beatles refrences and bookshelf with actual books on it, I now cannot stop imagining Dave looking just like the Zulu guy he painted up for his tank! :-) sitting properly smoking a pipe and gazing at his possesions whilst whispering "yes,.... I own you all....you are mine and no blasted scoundrel shall take you from me, not you vader cookie jar, not you lego combi van, and not you walk the line poster"
and dave...that´s smelling like necro terrain agian... i can tell by the ragged line on that surface ...or failing that... fallout terrain ...which means...we are finally back on track!
It just came to me in a moment of clarity. It's the only thing I can think of (read, remember) from fallout that had that kind of construction and it looks a similar size to the car.
Vik your mind is to dark and twisted to stay in for long
Dave we may all suffer the same syndrome but boy you have it the worst LOL and that is friggin awesome I have no need to play fallout dave is building it for me
I thought you was building some kind of food tray at first no it looks great and the lights to light up the build board is a really cool touch.
O yes can I have it I have always wanted a billboard.
Thanks guys!
Points to LDD for noticing the lights! I dug through all kinds of bitz boxes to find the perfect old-looking shade bitz, only found 2, so the third light just has wires hanging out I'm not even sure what they are, some 1/35 bitz from sprues.
I'm afraid that the cracked asphalt surface may take as long to do as the car did
Speaking of the Corvega Dealership in-game, did you know the only useful things in that building are 9 shotgun shells and 1 bobby pin?
and look forward to seeing what you do paint on it Dave, I didn't think you would have left it blank.
I know but it tied in so well

Yes, they did bring that something extra to it, that is the usual type of detail that is over looked but when done makes all the difference.
The asphalt looks great, but using the you beam for curb was a stroke of genius.
The car looks different again now, its turned more blue.
that billboard is freaking awesome and so much cooler than a showroom scene!!! i am eager to see how you will use the white embossed plasticcard sheats and how you cope with those angular cracks inbetween them... the base of the billboard already looks *loss for words...*
Thanks Vik, but I glued those panels in wonky on purpose! so that the when the paper was soaked in PVA it would hopefully conform to those panel lines
Very, very WET here It can probably use more washes once it dries, but this is the general idea here.

Oh you mean the pavement? I'm not sure about that, completely experimental at this point. I may yet smear on spackle or plaster on top, not sure.
I'd like to recreate this type of eroded pavement chunks, but it's a long shot, the pattern is very random, yet somehow uniform.
To me, the cracks seem like they almost belong, as if it's the order they originally laid the blacktop.
Great!, just great! now my steingass Rivets billboard I'm working on will PALE into INSIGNIFICANCE! I mean come on Dave that looks absolutely amazingly cool! i'm guessing the Taurade billboard on Terragenesis and the fallout ones in your game blended the inspiration? I was originally going to suggest scafolding for a rock concert stage but you work too freakin' fast for me to follow sometimes! sheesh man let me catch up!
Yeah well you better hang on tight 'cos Dakka's about to get real! you on vacation and me with 6 days off work! :-) our hobby bro's are going to be overloaded with paint and awesome!
do you know that moment when you see something that is so good looking you are just able to utter hushed swear words... well this happened to me seeing the billboard with the converga "mural"...
but i agree... at least one more wash... needs to look more stained... it atm looks brighter than ingame... ingame graphics always left me with this sticky carpet feeling...the need to have my hands washed from all the filth you accidently touched and so on...
Can't fault it anywhere, but one thing you could add would be some discolouration to the tarmac where the car is sitting. Will make it look like it has been sitting in one place, decaying, for a very long time.
someone actually making a hand shaped brush...can you believe it? for those nasty marks of gore and spatter effects... IF you want to go down that line of course... but lets face it... FO3 is rather gory in parts... all that raider crimes...
Haha Vik..they sell these little clear resin boots on pegs in 1/35 scale, boot prints for every army boot from every country from every war. They sell them JUST for putting the correct muddy boot prints on tanks and stuff. Gangster Dio pics:
That billboard is …... well just ……… you know …………… what a ………. I am lost for words the ground work needs adding to though looks to clean in comparison.
Add some rubble a oil drum (you always have an oil drum) some other crap maybe a chunk out of the road as well
I am absolutely in awe... you seem to master really everything. Wow...
Yet you asked for ideas to get even better. So I humbly offer this: 1. on the billboard: bullet holes. Not too much, just lets say one magazine full of stupid-idiot-wants-fun pumped into the board. 2. on the gangsta diorama: stacks of paper sheets in the desk and cupboard files, in between bundles of greenbacks, a couple of pencils, an ink vat with a pen, a contemporary typewriter, also a bottle of moonshine (hidden), wet rings from the bottle and glasses on the desk, plus an ashtray (overcrowded with stumps). Also a pack of ammo in that drawer. I want to see your magic making it happen, so that I can once more drop my jaw...
Naw, no master, this is all experimental. Bullet holes are a good idea. I know the gangster dio could always use more, but I'd like to be done with it for now. It was just the furniture kit review that got out of hand
Sorry I've not been on much, but damn have you been busy! Love what you've done as always, especially the little details on the fallout stuff like the broken glass- top notch!

Base is looking great Mr StainedGlass! ;-) i'd love to see you do a city board using the theme from fallout and all your mad skills! very impressive man!
Oh Nerd, how I'd LOVE to do that! I've been walking around in-game, specifically the Fairfax ruins area, taking tons and tons of screenshots, studying not just the buildings, but everything. Unfortunately translating that stuff into models poses a lot of problems. And the terrain is hardly flat either, many of the roads are angled, while the buildings are up on raised foundations
Which would totally kick ass on a model, but presents a lot of "how to build it" problems. That geometric concrete pattern intrigues me, I'd like to find an easy way to replicate it, and in mass quantities. Something like laser=etched wooden panels ala MAS Infinity stuff.
Now that is just stunning the ground work is much better and ties it in together, the billboard is just a work of art can we have a how to on the picture part ?
The only small gripe I have I know can you believe it but the car, it needs a little debris around it IMHO maybe a few car part looking bits lying around as if it is being stripped slowly.
@LDD- I printed it on a laser printer first, then designed the billoboard construction around that, constantly holding it up as a reference. then when the billboard was painted, I pressed it against all the glue drops on my cutting mat for embossed bump texture, then used a scriber to start scratching cracks and tears in the paper and started tearing corners and edges with my finger. Once you slather it with PVA glue, the scribed tears become 3d, the uneven panel cracks make the paper conform and you can work them while the glue is still wet. Finally add light washes of brown all over, and black only where I wanted the darkest shadow in the tears. I also used in-game screenshots as a reference as to approximately where the tears might be.
put a glass dome on it and then head off to the museeum!!!
brilliant!
seeing all your earlier masterworks that now fit so neatly together to build this whole scene of awesomeness... spectacular! and you do know that it is in the ned inevitable to go down that route and you will come up with more excuses to build small(ish) scenes of FO3 and one day you will realize that you secretly built a whole jigsaw of scenes that together then would make the afore mentioned whole table...regardless of all the atm seen obstacles... one day it is finished...wether you want it, plan it or fear it it will happen... actually i can see it happen not too far from now
Thanks for the how to thorough and in depth did not realise how much was involved well worth the effort mind.
As to the car I can see your point but could you not build an area of rubble for the car to just sit in, that way you can still remove the car in its current condition
wouldn´t underestimate dave´s knowledge of FO3 ingame graphics and settings and mechanics there... i bet he has so much time spent in this game... our complete times spent in this one wouldn´t have a chance to compete^^
I'm seriously considering going back to FO3. Maybe once I get bored of Skyrim again. I tried to go back to NV but got fed up of it crashing all the time, so went to Skyrim.
O.k this is how it's going to work Dave, next year I'm off to Hawaii with NerdWench, the year after I'm going to Sweden for a week to hang out with Pyriel, so the next year I'm coming to your place for a week! and what are we going to do? yes, build a board that uses your Fallout knowledge! (and you can show me the game!) so, take a week off work and get ready for the REAL Nerdfest! Dave & Damo style lol!

I totally agree!
The billboard is simply fantastic!
I probably have as many, if not more hours into building Fallout miniature stuff than I do playing the game though And I only heard about it a year ago What can I do in another year??
Very nice work, Dave; I really love the diorama. Very cool idea using the old car model in a sci-fi setting.
Forgive if I missed this somewhere previously, what scale model is it? 1/48? And for that matter, what model is it? Looks kind of like a '57 Chevy Bel Air?
Thanks Yellowbeard!
It's scratch built, from the game Fallout 3, 40k scale, Heroic 28mm
Imagine atomic-powered cars were really built
I can't begin to tell you guys how happy it makes me whenever someone thinks it's a kit!

I haven't played any of the Fall Out (?) games, but the screenshotsare inspirational, might have to check it out just for some terrain ideas. Last inspirational game I played was 'Soldiers - Heroes of World War Two', got some of my WW2 scenarios and terrain pieces directly from this game.

Ah.... Hogs of War defined my late PS1 playing period, and much of my early PS2 playing period, as well... good times. Unfortunately I have lost the game :(
I love the Cylon Dave. Do you reckon the miniature would be of reasonable scale to be converted into a Titan of some sort?
Ah the Playstation or PS1 era... I've still got my original Playstation somewhere (also got my Megadrive which still works after years in the garage). My most played games where Medal of Honour, MoH Underground and the Syphon Filter series... Good days
It was called the Sega Genesis here is the States..many many fond memories thar! There is a collection of the old games for PS3, streets of rage, sonics, etc.
Day 3 and the Fething SimCity servers are still broken! I think I've started regions on every goddamn server now, only to get kicked off after an hour or so.
Sim City - crikey I remember playing that on on my Amiga 500, along with Populace, Warmonger and Championship Manager - many happy hours spent on the greatest console known to man. God, how I miss the Amiga 500...
Masochism would imply self torture. EA got their money already..user forums are blowing up with folks complaining and wanting their money back. It's reaching critical mass worldwide
I think it being Origin exclusive and requiring constant internet connection is putting me off getting this Simcity. I like the look of it, but what's with these always online games and their servers dying for about the first week at launch.
At least it got a very nice looking multiplayer aspect to it. There's some vids of a playthrough down in the video game section. The filmer's friend had no residential in his city pretty much while the guy filming had a bunch of it. As soon as his firend finally added residential to his city, thousands just walked out of their houses got in their cars and drove off to the highway as one big long snake of cars.
Yeah it's amazing what the game can do. Despite Internet reports, Origin is just the delivery/authentication mechanism, the real problem is with EA's (lack of) server architecture and planning. Now that it has launched in Europe, and they've added more servers, maybe it'll start to work properly.
Yeah, it's finally working!- But saturday we went to a LEGO show in Indianapolis, yesterday we watched the Walking Dead and built LEGO on our coffee table that we finally got for the purpose. Needless to say, I spent my hobby budget and splurged a bit more on a very large LEGO set ..A Technological Terror, so to speak
seems you´ve been quite busy^^... we... we´ve been spending money on a fleamarket...again^^... tho... some useful bitz have been aquired...as usual^^...
aye... tho i probably would b bursting of joy if i ever found actual warhammer stuff there... which has never happened to me...ever... and i´ve read of this from peeps here... tho these were brits and americans and probably from your side of the world too
According to this article you should be able to get a free game from EA as compo for the hassle... Nice to see a company who actually take their customers seriously...
Yeah, I saw that, it's pretty decent of them, although they should've known all those pre-orders would try to play at the same time
@Vik- so far it still looks pristine in it's huge shipping box Not my pic, but Ladygeek says you should've seen the look on my face carrying this giant box I used the money I loaned to the Federal Government interest-free in 2012
Automatically Appended Next Post: BTW, this only needs one more vote, I'd appreciate it I'm actually quite proud of this, even surprised myself.
I'm gone for a couple weeks and this thread is (1) on page 28, and (2) so far OT that I think a rift in the time / space continuum opened and it is actually 2011 again.
There's no way I'll be able to dig through all that, so I'll just keep up from here.
I want to see a Hobbit w/ a Railway Rifle! Get to it!
i was glued to a plexi glass display at our biggest department store in berlin... they had the kit fully built in that dome...for everybody to gobble at...and boy we did gobble^^
also... did i tell you my wife and kids and me bought a year ticket for the lego discovery centre here in berlin?
the last two times we´ve been there it was these star wars events...
(well the second even got cosplayers...but they´ve ruined the scenery then quite a bit...)
the last quotes escaped me... as i saw the movie only in german... i thought i woulnd´t get that british humor in english^^... seems i have to review it again^^
No, you didn't tell me, but that's really great! Our nearest one is in Chicago, with a minifig-scale model of downtown Chicago.

Most of those are on Sonic's Greatest Hits for PS3
Vik, you come out with some corkers - double entendres everywhere
Dave - man am I jealous, we've got a Lego store in the local shopping centre (Bluewater) and there's an empty box on the shelf for that glorious and expensive model- it's been mauled by many hands and much the worse for wear, but I always gravitate to it - that and the Millenium Flacon, R2D2 and all the other Star Wars goodies... Thw wife would never let me buy that unless we were to win the lottery... Will have to take a visit to Legoland Windsor when the sun decides to show its self (we have snow at the moment - snow in mid March for feths sake, it's supposed to be Spring with Easter round the corner... I nearly didn't make it home tonight, the roads in the South east are crazy slippy, including the main A roads and mortorways..)
BTW, does your death star have a canteen, where Darth Vader can chill...
@ Vik, keep scouring the flea markets mate... I found a still-wrapped original starter set for mordheim last time i went, for just 5 euros... the guy was askin 20, but because i'm a fan i got it cheap, he wanted to be sure it was going to be used. And it is... the skaven are being necropocofied as we speak
I might be late to the party but the wear and tear on that billboard is fantastic, that whole scene in general perfectly reads fallout to me, great job!

i guess it is related to the status of the hobby... really... whatever your stereotypes of that hobby are... i´ve seen always peeps in the shops that freak out at the sight of a woman... for this reason i go as often with my wife inside such shops... the guys here freak out and my wife feels somewhat spooked and approved ...
and on fleamarket the most i´ve yet seen was some heroclix of LotR... nothing more... a crying shame...^^

How long will the Death Star Take??I have no idea. probably quite a few evenings
and rightly it should... as this is a once in a lifetime buy... so it has to be enjoyed to the fullest!!!

I've often heard that, but over here we normally get a girl or two drop by most days (gamers, that is, not wanderers/taxis :p).
dsteingass wrote:"Many Bothans died to bring us this information."
LOL... priceless... you need to make a poster out of this together with a WIP of yon deathstar^^

well...i´d be lying if i say i haven´t seen girls in the shops... but those...well...they don´t come to mind when you think about the classic look of females...if you catch my drift...
Thanks Novelist! I really appreciate the feedback!
Automatically Appended Next Post: As far as the Death Star build...I'm nearing the end of Bags 2/3 from box 1/4! -This is going to be a very large, very long, very satisfying build! It's got the most minifigs of any non-minifig specific set ever, AND the only Ultimate Collector's Edition set that has playability. I'll take a WIP tonight so you can see, I think the Trash Compactor will be done by the time I get to bags 3/3.
I'm at about 1:09 in this video- although, I don't know where this person is getting the turntable base from, perhaps later in the instructions? Perhaps he/she built it specifically to keep the build in one place for the video? It would be very useful at this stage to have that nice solid base. As you can see, the floors are three plates thick, very solid! It needs to be to support the upper weight.
You'd better hurry, I'd bet it's almost on it's way out of production.
They never announce a set going OOP, it's just out of stock on their website one day, then it sort of fades away.
That happened to me with the Imperial Flagship set, I wanted it for a long time, then one day, it was suddenly out of stock, luckily I found one on Amazon that was still in stock and before the profiteers raised the price 100%
i told that my wife too... and she actually is half willing to get all of us the set... probably an all family one haul early christmas present... atm i am playing the devils advocate... my work atm is not as stable and fulfilling as i like...and such big "needless" buys would come out of my purse rather than draw money away from the essential stuff...
the light up lightsabe is according to the lego minifig referrence book (my kids use this as a bible^^) oop...didn´t knew there were still some out there...
by the way... i am also hesitant of that deathstar buy as we have still a tiefighter lego set in our bedroom stored in the cupboard...soon oskar has his fifth birthday and he just loves tiefighter pilots...

Automatically Appended Next Post: see the lightsaber handle? dunno how you refill if the batteries have run out...but i bet that would be an awesome mini to have around^^
lol... yeah... that tiefighter was a three in one set... you gotta love these... the sandskiff, tiefighter and the droppod... for 70€s all together... that was a bargain and a half... tiefighter is usually alone 40€s
That sounds like a great deal! Were they all still in the boxes, sealed? Speaking of great deals, I found a Badger Sotar 2020 Airbrush on Amazon for $75!!- It's the Cadillac of the Badger line, normally priced over $300! I don't need it really, but I couldn't pass up the deal.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and I finally got the Brickworld Indy pics uploaded too:
Yeah, it was more of a show. The guy who had the big LST also had a booth selling self-made kits of those tanks, and custom Minifigs, and weapons. The tanks were priced at a sharp $100+ pricetag though, I passed.

Looks like it was made from Atlantis sets - my boy has some of those and the colours/pieces seem to be the same - but yes, it's Lego so expensive is par for the course I guess - although I do find that some great bargains can be picked up at boot fairs (similar to yard sales in the US - i think...)
I do like your progess though on the Death Star, have you got to the detention centre yet?
"Uh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh... everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?"
You gotta find the right ones tbh - generally those at schools are good as parents are trying to clear out old toys, the big fields full of open car boots are bad - too many traders...
eBay has also somewhat dampened the market though as people get more savvy on what stuff is actually worth, but there's always those who just want rid of the clutter and can't be bothered to go through the hassle of listing everything - it's all down to luck
Oh and don't go on a sunny warm day (if they exist in the UK), if you go when it's cold and wet you can get better bargains as the sellers are fed up and just want to go home... At least that's my experience

I see your hardcore booter then LOL sunny whats that then
The chances of finding LEGO like that are rare, IF you find some, they will mostly be primary color bricks, which usually don't help builds like that. No there is an entire secondary market for LEGO, www.bricklink.com, buy, sell, trade by the piece. That's the only way to go other than getting lucky or buying sets just for parts.

that sounds like you know your trade!!! and you are totally right... that´s how fleamarkets work... and i always try to get to look into stuff from middleaged women...there is big bargains to be made... trust me... they are likley to want to get rid of their stuff in a hurry...not really looking forward to bring all their unseeled stuff back home... thats your winning ticket!
It has a Cargo bay with working lift
And defenses
I'm pretty certain this thing is bigger around than the Cobra Terrordrome playset of my youth
Of course, the Internet found someone who had to build one to scale
OMG! G.I Joe for the massive win my friend! I love those toys! I used to collect them in my youth and am slowly picking old ones up as i find them so I can be a kid again and rappel across my couches finding hidden Cobra caves beneath cushions!
They also made perfectly-scaled fortress walls for GI Joes
