Well after facing some tough lists, the Templars reigned supreme. The top 3 players from Sci-Fi City in Orlando, FL first round are:

1st: Erich Schoenholtz - Black Templars
2nd: James Prestidge - Eldar
3rd: Players name unknown - Tyranids

I didn't catch the Tyranid player's name. So if anyone has that info that would helpful. I am bad with names. I do know that he is from out of town though.

At the end of the day I ended up with 69 battle points and over 13,000 VPs.

This was out of 18 players

This is a summary of qualifiers from several tournaments.  A lot of the usual suspects made it to the regionals.

  1. Greg Sparks (me)
  2. Bill Kill - Centurian99
  3. Mike Mutscheller
  4. Peter Elias (the Equalizer)
  5. Brad Chester
  6. Jeff Chua
  7. Hank Edley
  8. Chris Merschedt

Others that I know of include the following:

  1. Jon Willingham
  2. Jeff McConnell
  3. Brian Huttenga
  4. Paul Steiner

The cool thing is that three out of four members of Casus Belli are in and all of 2 Oblit 2 Quit 2.  Go, go AdeptiCon teams.

Game Empire Pasadena:

Out of 14 players

1st- Thousand Sons 2-0-1
2nd Place-Eldar Go me! 2-0-1
3rd place- Godzilla Nids

After 2 massacres I fought the Thousand Sons player on a city fight table. I never saw so many cover saves made, and I barely was able to eek out a tie. Glad that I will never see that army again.

There were 18 armies, but suprisingly no Godzilla Nids or Mech Eldar. I'm sure the competition willl increase at the next event.

It looks like nearly all the armies have some form of representation, although Chaos seems to be on the heavy side. Only Orks have yet to be named (unless I missed it).

Id just like to add that anyone and their brother can 'qualify'. There was an 'Ard Boyz tournament in Roseville CA that had 4 people, go figure...I wouldnt put too much stock into any of this until the regionals, and then I expect a general repeat of the GT results.

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling, which thinks that nothing is worth war, is much worse. The person, who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

At Games Plus in Illinois:

1. Fred Fortman (Marines)
2. Jeff Chua (Godzilla)
3. Tyler Cooley (Lost and the Damned)

40% of the lists were Godzilla. Do we have a specific semi-final location or can we choose the semi-final location we want to go to? I see the Ohio boyz are all splitting up their semi-final location. We figure we'll flood one of their locations and take someone out before the finals. ;-)

I agree with Blackheart above. If you know you obviously won with a weak/er list, don't bother going out of your way when regionals hit. Save yourself the time of traveling there. Doesn't matter how Blackheart placed. We all know 'nilla marines are out.

However, I will say that if you won with a weaker list you should still go as a spoiler army. Take the metagame into account and screw the eldar/nids from winning. That'd be easier with Necrons who could generate lots of glancing 6s, though.

Really, was this comment productive?  I'm one of the local godzilla players, and the local Mech Eldar and Tau players played at another store, but we face off regularly so it's not like I'm unfamiliar with the lists and their difficulty.

I was surprised to see the Space Wolves Player come in 2nd, but the necron player is using almost a carbon copy of the max destroyers/max immortals/min warriors list posted on dakka which can be pretty good if played well.

From some of the above comments obviously there are people here who don't play on GT and other circuits. You can't discount any army here with some of these missions played.

In round two when you could bring troops on from a board edge of your choice (and started in reserve) even bolters could glance Eldar skimmers and those Nid lists were much easier to take down with no little bugs in the first turn.

'Ardboyz is a lot about objectives and reacting to situations you would not normally encounter. Good players who are comfortable with thier armies are going to do well. I know in some of these areas nidzilla and mech eldar have gone down to armies that "shouldn't win" due to luck, missions, and poor planning by good players.

And if you are a big talker show us you were number one in your area and tell us your battle points.
