Put a load of Warhammer stuff up for sale mid-January and it all sold. Posted most of it in one batch, but one guy paid a day later, so his got posted the day afterwards.
A month onwards, he is claiming it hasn't arrived.
Now, we're only talking about £10.00 here so I wouldn't be that bothered about giving him a refund if he's genuine.
On the other hand, I did post him the stuff. He also has 8 negative feedbacks (out of 200), one of which alludes to a similar situation.
I am also not that bothered about getting negative feedback as a result.
This is the first time I've had this problem. All the other people got their stuff (even the guy on a military base in Virginia received his Warhammer Dice Tin), so what do you reckon?

This is a tough spot to be in. I only buy from e-bay but never sell. I'll admit if a package didn't come that I payed for, I'd be pretty miffed. However I understand where you're coming from. Once you send the package there's nothing more you can do. The amount of negative feedback is a little worrisome, but I'd check if he received the feedback buying or selling. It's pretty tough to get negative feedback as a buyer as long as you pay. Also sometimes a package can get held up. I remember once having to wait almost 2 months for something I bought. Such a long delay is unlikely, but you never know.

It sounds like you should always send it registered mail, so that whomever receives it has to sign for it. That way, if it really arrived you could prove he was lying. Otherwise, you'll never know either way.

I had a similar situation happen to me the first time I sold something on ebay. I went ahead and refunded the guy his money; which he wound up sending back to me a week later after his shipment finally arrived.
I don't sell very often on ebay, but when I do I always use a shipping service that offers tracking on their packages. It costs the buyer a little more but it saves me a lot of stress.

I guess my question would be, how would you feel about the situation if, in two months, you get a returned package and you realise that you typoed his address or post-code.
I seriously doubt there are a lot of people out there who are 'scamming' 10 pound warhammer toys. If I was going to scam ebay, I'd be going after much bigger ticket items...
I'd assume that he's telling the truth and make right the situation.

But that's not to say, Redbeard, that every time something goes wrong with said "big-ticket" items that it's a scam.
I paid about $200 for a ton of Chaos models once and honestly never got them. I waited weeks for them and ended up filing a claim on PayPal right before my time ran out, because I simply couldn't lose $200 like that for nothing. I'm still not sure what the hell happened or if he even got DC/insurance. I've bought insurance for packages that were worth less than $50 (and often without it even being requested), so why someone would ship something that big without either one is baffling. In either case it was just a huge inconvenience for all involved...
Though oddly enough the same guy posted not long after that he was getting back into Chaos.

Not sure if you should give him neutral feed back. Because i know there are people that makes money
off seller that doesnt keep shipping proof. And if you see that he has done this before to others, its
better to give him a negative feed back.
When you sell / mail stuff you dont need ensurance [ you can ask him if the buyers want to pay insurance]
but always need confirmation number.

Yeah, I sold a bunch of death company to someone: they were some of my best models. Never had any problems until this guy came back a few weeks later and said they'd not arrived - I figured he'd thought I would have chucked my receipt by then, because paypal always pays out to the buyer. He was wrong, so he got his refund but I got my money back from the post office (they had no record of a successful delivery, but that is not to say they failed to deliver it...).
Proof of postage. And if over £36, special delivery.

Lol, because he waited a month before saying anything (despite the fact that I immediately marked the item as dispatched), I had thrown the receipt away. As I say, lesson learnt Cheers for all your thoughts though

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like you're screwed. Shipping anything to an ebay buyer without Delivery Confirmation or the equivalent is like leaving your wallet in a cab: you are counting on the other person to be honest and not profit off of you.

If they don't buy insurance or confirmation I always keep the receipt which shows the weight and destination of the package (here in the US anyway). Typically, especially if you don't have any negative feedback, paypal isn't going to assume you are mailing the correct size and weight package to the proper area for the full shipping price as a scam. If the UK puts that info on the receipt you need to find that receipt and point out the negative feedback showing a pattern of problems. You'll have a fighting chance. If you lose you were thinking of paying anyway, if you win, well you get to keep your money.

well having been on the other end of this kind of thing(ordered some assembled BC) after a few weeks of being late, i asked the ask what was happening, and after someone talking over ebay and about a week later, turned out that the package had been crushed, as he had put it, flattened by the postal gorillas lol, well communication seems to be the best bet between buyers and sellers, but there was this one guy, the item never showed up, they never answered my messages, and even with i opened a file with paypal, they left no answer through paypal, in the end i had to wait about another month to get my cash back just for them not answering, and nothing against you but i think i have learned from your mistake as well, i am trying to be a ebay seller so this will help me protect myself, sorry for the bad luck and hope it doesn't happen again

If you paid the shipping with a credit card, you have a record of the payment being made to the post office. And if that's the best you can do, use it. While it would be terrible if the other person really didn't get their goods - that's what buyer protection is for.
I've never been in the "you didn't ship me my goods!!" ebay position before. I've been on the "we're sending your $200 order next week, honest" trip twice and now I'm in the "The person who received your models is a regular who already left feedback, we'll leave it in God's hands to resolve the issue" drive.
The first two resolved in my favor with one user being suspended. The third one is a work in process.

For <$1, Delivery Confirmation is your best friend.
If his feedback is like that, I'd have banned his auction and just not done business with him.
But in your case, you're probably screwed.
With the amount of scam activity and high fee structure, I simply refuse to transact on eBay.

This is key. In the U.S. it costs just a dollar or two to send the stuff registered.

Sorry to really pee on your chips, but as a seller, you can only leave +ve feedback, regardless of the outcome of the auction, and regardless of what the buyer leaves you. Ebay chnaged their feedback policy so that Sellers are no longer able to leave anything buy +ve feedback. It sucks. I had a knob the other week who didn't pay for his item, so I never sent it, he then leaves -ve feedback, saying the item was not as described (even though he never recived it and never paid for it). I can only leave him +ve feedback.
P&P I ALWAYS get prrof of posting, in the UK this costs nothing, you just have to ask. Failing that send it recorded. If its overseas, send it Airsure which is tracked and costs an extra £4.50. I NEVER send ANYTHING to Italy. Things always seem to go missing or arrive incomplete with the packaging opened.

AMen to that. When I sell I ALWAYS get a confirmation number, at my expense. for 65 cents its the best money you can spend.
I had sold a bunch of those marine statues and one guy emailed back pretty pissed it didnt arrive or something. I just asked him his name/state and looked through the DC's till I found his. Turns out, they left him a note on the door and it was held at eth post office, but apprantly the note they left on the door blew away.
Another time I mixed up forgeworld books to two different people. The DC's proved I had sent them, and one guy tried being shady saying he ordered one the one I sent from forgeworld and it was his-in essence trying to get 2 of them. But since I proved it was from me with the DC's......he shipped it back.
65 cents for a confirmation number. ALWAYS get it, even at your expense.

Just like to point out if you use Paypal, Proof of posting slip from the Post office equals nothing, they only accept a Tracking slip number they can look on the Net with.
Learned this the hard way with two transactions, so now I send everything recorded, even overseas with International Signed for.

I've just been stung by this as well. Sent the product to Canada at the end of last year and kept the tracking information long enough to determine that the goods arrived plus a little bit of time for good measure.
Now the buyer has just contacted me telling me he has received nothing (6 weeks after they were sent and over 4 weeks after they were delivered) and of course I no longer have the tracking information telling me that he got it...

Open a non-paying bidder dispute. When you close the dispute, they get a strike. If they're a serial non-payer, they'll be booted... three strikes and you're out.
And if they fail to respond to the dispute, their feedback will be removed. It'll be removed anyway if they cop 3 strikes and they're only a new account.
