I had a guy give me negative feed back for over charging him $1.40
the auction closed I said shipping was 4.00
I Paid 2.60 for shipping and about 3.00 for the box I sent it in
He said I over charged him, I said no I didn't it was 2.60 for shipping and 3.00 for handling (buying the box) I under charged you.
He said the auction only said 4.00 for shipping nothing about handling and wanted the 1.40 back, after realizing what a tool this guy was i actually refunded him the money. and he still left me bad feedback can you believe?
I'd hate to play this guy!

Somewhere in south-central England.

It's called 'Signed For' delivery. Costs 65p I think, on top of the usual postage.

There's also 'International Signed For' which is £3.50. That isn't as good because once the package goes out of the Royal Mail's hands, it can't be tracked any more. However if it did 'get lost' you could use the tracking number to get an official enquiry made.

For a £10 package it's better to save the 65p, get a receipt for the package and make a claim if it gets lost. You can make a claim for up to a modest amount (£35 ?) even without tracking.

This thread reminds me of a bloke I used to work with. His parents ran a Bed & Breakfast in Tenby (a seaside holiday resort in Wales.)

One time he was telling his girlfriend how people sometimes wrote after their holiday to say how much they enjoyed. One year, someone wrote a letter but they didn't know the address so they wrote on it something like "Mrs Jones, B&B with a red front door, on top of the hill near the beach, Tenby."

And his girlfriend asked if the letter ever arrived.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

As much as boxes cost, i never include that into the S&H for that specific reason.

If im worried about the box cost will actually tip the worth of the auction, i wouldnt have

sold it at that price in the first place. ( reserved price )

So let me get this straight:
- you listed an item with a flat price of $4.00 for shipping
- after the auction closed, you hit him up for an extra $1.40 in undisclosed charges
- he took exception to you changing the terms of the deal after the auction closed
- you're complaining that he's holding you to the terms of the auction that you listed

Is that right?

So far, the Negative seems fully-justified.

Unless I've completely misunderstood, he didn't charge extra. The buyer was complaining about paying $4 for shipping when the actual postage cost was $2.60... overlooking the fact that the box also cost something.

A lot of buyers do this. They think that the shipping cost should be the actual postage cost, and that packaging and handling should be ignored. They will often complain about completely trivial amounts... I had a buyer once leave negative feedback over a $2 (Australian pretend money) shipping charge, saying that it was too much for the size of the item. (Actual cost being $1 to post and about 60c for the padded envelope, plus 10c or so for a zippy bag for the bits)

But then, he also complained that what he received (40K bits... I think heads off something or other) was a different colour to those pictured... so may have just been on drugs.

I would remind him that mail fraud is a federal crime, (at least in the u.s.) and see if he keeps saying he never got it. If that doesnt really apeal to you just give him the money, its not a ton.

I think he is trying to say he charged the guy $4 p&p

When the parcel arrived it said $2.60 on the front the reciever wanted his $1.40 back. The cost of packing and fees what not are obviously not an issue for the guy.

I sell stuff on ebay and people often expect the same standards they expirience with sites like amazon and other shops. Fast postage, quick response to questions etc.

Personally I am happy for people to charge what they like for P&P as long as the overall price to me is attractive I dont care how they split it up.

I regularly buy stuff for a penny or a pound from hongkong with 10 - 15 pound P&P - ebay may not be quite so happy about it.

What did the auction say: Actual postage or $4 flat rate?

ok guys sorry if i was a little confusing in my last post.

The auction was listed with 4.00 shipping.

When I sent the package out the postage was 2.60 the actual box was 3.00 I paid a total of 5.60 to get the item to him.

When he got the package he complained and said that the shipping was only 2.60 and wanted 1.40 back.

I explained to him that yes the shipping was 2.60 but the handling (buying the box) was 3.00 so technically he owed me 1.60 but i wasn't going to sweat it.

He said the auction said SHIPPING was 4.00 there was no mention of handling so he isn't going to pay for it.

I said the handling is implied and you got it cheaper than it was no big deal, he responded with no the auction only specified shipping not handling that i was inviolation of auction rules whatever. Then he opened a dispute, so i refunded him the 1.40 he closed the dispute and left bad feedback.

Then I told him jeez it's a good thing all those models were recasts! (just kidding folks)

Excuse me?

Don't make such claims. You don't know WTF you're talking about.

When posting that comment, I had NO INTENT to scam. Please, show how it's a scam or STFU.

He said that ten UK Pounds was "not that much." I was making the point that, if it really IS "not that much," he could give it to me.

No scam there.

So, like I said... proof or STFU with your accusations.
