The Hellstorm squadron in the apocalypse reloaded rule book? What's the question you have about it? Not that I'm claiming to know the answer, but I've built a HS and don't want to have over-looked something.

I'll definitely have to run that datasheet! I've got 9 armored Sentinels painted and built a 10th last year for Emperor's Talon Recon Group. Painting on that model will definitely have to get bumped to a high priority thanks to Stompa Hunters; too much fun.

Still no sign of the Iron Saint, Build-a-Stompa, or all the other WD ones. I wish they wouldn't do that. Ok, looking over them: Rough Rider Company - Just like FW's Death Rider Company, except that GW didn't forget to give it special rules like Warwick did. It is as you’d expect, they get Flank March and a combined Furious/Berserk Charge-sorta rule. It works. Heavy Weapon Company – Super-silly fluff description, ‘The anti-tank guns shoot at tanks while the anti-infantry guns shoot at infantry!’ and then it gets a contradictory special rule that makes you shoot everything at a single target, so your anti-infantry weapons fire twice at the tank you want to kill, or your Lascannons fire twice at the huge Ork Mob you want to destroy. I don’t think that one was thought out very well. Could be fun to try that out with Mortars though, but who owns 36 Mortar Teams? If I add up just my Lascannon and Missile Launcher teams, I only get to 10-full HW Squads. I wouldn’t go and buy more, and I wouldn’t stick anti-infantry weapons in such a formation because the rules contradict the fluff! Uhhg! Sentinel Stompa Hunters – ‘S alright I ‘spose. The fire and then no move/shoot next turn isn’t anything to write home about, but the +1 penetration could be useful. Storm Trooper Strike Force – Ignoring the fact that Stormies are absolute junk in the new Codex… and the last Codex… and the Codex before that… this formation is actually quite cool. Then again, as I’ve always wanted to field my 6 Storm Trooper Squads in 6 Valkyries, I’m a little bias here. The shoot/move/shoot thing is an interesting bonus, but the Vital Objective thing is what makes it worthwhile. I like this one.

Hrm. So Stormtroopers are actually quite the kick-ass when brought in this formation (Making them almost worth their points too!). But other than that, there doesn't seem to be much reason to have 30 friggin' Stormtroopers.
The same can also be said for the Heavy Weapons teams, to a lesser extent.
GW using Apocalypse datasheets to move models they know no one really wants with the new rules? Conspiracy!! And it works... Imma gonna have to order up some more Kasrkin.
Can't really explain the other two (cept for maybe the fact that Armoured Lascannon armed sentinels are kinda scarily overpriced).

That stormtrooper one sounds good. I plan to invest in a valk squadron, so all I'd need is 1 more unit of stormtroopers eventually...
Does anyone besides HBMC own 12 HW squads?

Just for my praetorians I have 11 lascannons teams, 9 ML teams, 9 heavy bolter teams, 3 mortar teams, and 7 autocannon teams, so that's a little over 12 HW squads. Admittedly, that would strip all the heavy weapons out of my line squads, so in practice no, I do not.

I have 12 HW squads between two different regiments (Steel legion, and Cadian) but unless I'm planning on seeing a *big* titan I can't imagine dedicating them to one regiment. I'd lose a huge proportion of the orders I could give them as well just to gain twin-linked. Its a good alpha strike, but not much else.
For the Sentinels: Well, at least I get a consolation prize for having a full sentinel allotment from the last codex.

Man, the Stormtrooper Strike Force is BRUTAL. Have Valks fly flat-out and move 24" (right?), have Stormies (with the Aerial Assault thingie which lets them re-roll the scatter) drop out in rapid-fire range and have them STORM THE OBJECTIVE.
I think that is frickin' awesome. The cool factor alone makes me want to get three valks and another......wait......hah! i still have a Kasrkin squad in box!

Or even something CLOSE. These make them sweet, though - check the price tag - this datasheet is worth 1000points. This is, of course, with heavy bolter sponsons, hellstrikes, and lascannons for the valks and each ST squad has 2 meltas. Could be even MORE.

Just out of idle curiosity, how much Imperial Guard do you actually have serving the God-Emperor of Mankind? I remember seeing some pics showing parts of your collection but those clearly were just a hint of the total might at your disposal. So how many companies of tanks and infantry? Supported by how many super-heavies?

6 45-man Platoons (2 Old Cadian, 2 New Cadian, 1 Mordian, 1 Tallarn) + 17 additional HW Squads + 50 assorted extra plastic Cadians + several Company Command Squads. 3 10-tank Armoured Companies. 1 10-tank Artillery Company. 12 Chimeras (to ferry my two plastic Cadian Platoons + HQ) 1 10-tank Super-Heavy Regiment 2 10-walker Sentinel Recon Companies (+4 extras, going for three Companies eventually) 6 10-man Storm Trooper Squads (each w/Valkyrie Transport) And then there are all the attached inquisitorial units + extra things like Snipers, a load of various officers, SWS's, Cyclops Demo Vehicles, a Hellhound Squadron, and so on. 'Bout 600 models all up I'd say.

Yeah, at an extra 150 pts for the formation, requiring 3x 10 Storms and 3x 10 Valks...
480+ pts in overpriced Storms
360+ pts in Valks that want to be Vendetta gunships
+150 pts to shoot-run-shoot the S3 guns
= 1000 pts of non-Scoring stuff...
For the same points in Apoc, I would typically field 3 Demolishers, 2 Basilisks, and 1 Russ dropping pie every turn.
Now, Vital Objective is nice in Apoc, but not for 1000 pts, I think.

That's assuming you play that only Troops can score in Apoc, which is just laughable (especially when you consider Apoc was written for 4th, and Re-Load basically contains an 'Oops!' disclaimer encouraging people to ignore that bit of 5th and keep using the 4th Ed scoring methods).
