Deep in the Woods

So today I was working on unpacking some more of my carp, since I got my desk fixed. Well I seem to have boxes and boxes of bitz. So I decided I need to orginize these bitz, so I know what I have and can stop buying more stuff, since I could probably make just about anything I wanted out of all the stuff I have right now. So I started opening various boxes to see what I had in them. Well mostly I have a TON of marine and chaos marine stuff along with fantasy, ogers, old guard, etc etc etc. I did however find a few real treasures. An original full box of Legion of the Dammed, old school Laz tarantula, rapier lazer destroyer. old marine jetbike(both a built one and one still in the box). But the real golden egg at the bottom of this nest was 2(yes I said two) original Land Raiders, one is partialy built(but looks like all the parts are there to finish it) and the other is still on the sprue. So now I have a deliema. I thought of a cool conversion the other day, whitch i need two old school LR's for, I was going to search ebay for some old junkers, but should i use these 2 pristeen ones instead?

Anyway.. What have you found at the bottom of your bitz box that made you go "Yippy!" when you found it?

About 60 ork boyz in various stages of assembly. And I'm not kidding.

In the dark future, there are skulls for everyone. But only the bad guys get spikes. And rivets for all, apparently welding was lost in the Dark Age of Technology. -from C.Borer

Old-school land raiders in good shape go for a lot; sell those, and convert from new.

On the subject of "interesting" - I've got about 30 metal horse heads (just the heads), courtesy of the great GW bitz warehouse disaster sale of...'02? Something like that.

The best thing I sold from a bits box was an early terminator 'Exo-armour' space marine. Went for over £20 on eBay and it wasn't even in good nick.

I have a box of 'sprues' I've kept and added to through the years. I knew I had two Leman Russ' in there but recently I found a third! I don't even remember buying it! I was pretty happy. When I get to assembling my 'looted wagons' I'm gonna have a blast because I'm only doing two and I have all those extra parts! Can you say double guns? How about double turrets? Hee hee!

A while ago, I found a metal marble, a bunch of cardridge cases, and a bag of nuts and bolts.
Just perfect for fixing the russ demolisher I fethed up and making the turret stay put.

Nothing like raiding your dad's reloading station for some bitz eh? I like using those plastic wads for shotgun shells as a cheap material for scratchbuilds.

Heroes of the Adeptus Astartes was probably my favorite "holy crap I forgot I had that" find. A few weeks ago I found some Warmaster boxed sets that I thought for sure were worthless. I threw them up on ebay, anyway, and made some decent cash. Today I put together almost all of an ork chariot out of parts that I found. I couldn't find the yolk that fits over the boar's, though...

Enough Man o War stuff to host games using Dark elves, Dwarves, Empire or High elves. I say host because the likelyhood of a pick up game down the local GW is somewhat slim!

I found what might be an original Abbadon, or just a Chaos Terminator in general. But it is OLD.

I didn't paint it either. The more I think about it, I have no idea where it came from.

To the best of my knowledge there has only been one Abbadon model - the current one that we got back in 2nd Ed. Could just be an RT-era Chaos Terminator. I've got one of those - had an Assault Cannon, and is so tiny!

Yeah, this thing is pretty puny. Has a neat sword though.

It has what I think is a storm bolter with ammo clips coming out the top and bottom. Looks weird.

Yeah, ok, I can picture it. The sword is quite wide right?

9 all-metal Thousand Sons from around 1992, and an old Noise Marine with an electric guitar, platform shoes and a giant mohawk coming out of his helmet.

Also enough guys to make a Space Marine command squad out of RT models, but they're at least primed.

The coolest thing I found recently was a FW Titan tech Priest I had probably bought at Baltimore Games Day 5 or 6 years ago. Very nice sculpt, I really should paint him up!

Hmm...where to start:

1. Four 1990 GW Tech Gangers

2. 1980s Ork Dredd (looks like a retro robot)

3. Old chaos pillar of skulls (think I'll use it for Mordheim)

The secret to painting a really big army is to keep at it. You can't reach your destination if you never take any steps.

I build IG...lots and lots of IG.

Found three rogue trader powerfists (the blue ones). Couple of RT lasguns. An ancient techmarine.

Not so recent but pleasant none-the-less. Starting back up on a Tau side army now that I've finished my Deldar, and low and behold I have 12 firewarriors, some kroot, drones, and get this TWO broadsides! Bonus!

Forever alone

A soggy jam sandwich from two days before. I forgot I left it on top of my bitz and it had sort of oozed down to the bottom. It tasted like paint, but it was still edible.

And that's how I first experienced vomiting out of my nose.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.
