Aliens (2) is my favorite movie among the 4 .
Did you guys know , aside from the hormagaunt / queen rip off from GW old tyranid design , there is actually something else that no one ever noticed?
Look inside the Dominatrix's "cradle" there is another alien strapped in it. and the large cannon.
Answer: Space Jockey!

Wow thats cool. Actually realized it before I scrolled down and saw the Alien pic.
By the way, what was that thing? Did the explorers realize what it was when they saw it? I remember seeing that scene again later and being blown away that they kept going after seeing that.

I think it was an alien explorer / farmer / scientist that harvested the aliens ( hostile ones ) apparently the eggs hatched and broke lose in his ship and killed it during it's sleep.
Then it crashed into the settlement in Alien1
Its UGLY , but i have always been intrigued by Giger's art and design how he can meld organic into metals.

It's usually referred to as the Space Jockey and no information has ever been given on it. In the scene with the crew in their spacesuits walking near it that is actually Ridley Scott's children and Christian Bale (yes that one) in tiny space suits. I love both Alien and Aliens quite a bit. When I was younger I liked Aliens better but as I have gotten older the original has taken the edge. Alien3 I like for the atmosphere and cinematography if not the specific plot points.
Their is a prequel in the works so maybe we'll get some info on the Space Jockey. I would prefer to keep it a mystery as it is much more interesting as an enigma.

Did some wikipediaing. You are right, it is kids walking around a large prop.
Something else wierd...I dunno, that Space Jockey has always given me a wierd vibe. There is something underlying it that gets my attention and makes me feel off. I see it and I feel there is something not right. With the Aliens I am just grossed out but with the Jockey its like a kid seeing porn for the first time. You are spooked but enjoy looking at the same time. That may be a bit wierd of me to go on about it, but in the wiki page it says of all the props at the premiere, a religious group burned the Jockey because they thought it was the work of the devil.
So there is something underlying about it I just can't figure out what. I do come from a very spiritual upbringing.
And I do agree, the first Alien is something you love with age. It has its charm.

The Aliens series is somthing that will always stay in the back of my mind.
Primarily because of the wealth of background and side stories that have gone on outside of the movies (primarily Dark Horse comics, but a host of book series)
But a big part of it was the design of the aliens and their hive thanks to Hr Giger.
his work is "disturbing" while engrosing st the same time.
Though a big portion of it is over-sexualized, his design and airburshing work is fantastic.
I didnt know about the religious groups burning the Space Jockey prop tho, makes sense I guess.
I actually wish that GW would borrow more from the Aliens design as its just so sinister and lethal looking (I.e. get rid of the Hooves!! )

I have the original Aliens Vol 1 from Dark Horse and it was a good read. I found out now that they changed all the names because it contradicted what happened in Alien 3. Originally it had Hicks, Newt, and Bishop a little while after Aliens.

Some of the "canon" books said that the Space Jockey was a member of an alien race that created the aliens as bio weapons but began to regret that when they didn't die off as planned. It also said that they researched the aliens in order to speed up their own reproductive process. Aliens are like rabbits with acid blood, a mouth on their tongue, claws, inhuman strength and speed, and to top it off, a tail.

Aliens is classic Cameron (ie pre-Titanic).
I think there is Alien- which scared the crap out of me when I was 7 and saw it for the first time.
Then Aliens. There are reports of some other knock-offs using th e same IP- but I think my sub conscious rejects their existance
I've toyed with hte idea of making a Colonial Marine IG force, thier APC's are easy Chimera equivalents....and with the Valkrie, you have a use for the UD4L Cheyennes.....
I better stop now lol
But, considering that its 23 year old movie- and is still damn cool- thats saying alot. It won a couple Oscars and was nominated for seven- including a best actress. Thats really rare for a sci fi flick.

Alien and Aliens are very differnt films but both classics
Alien is a pre-eminent terror film. What's that? Fear of the dark and creatures/spirits within.
Aliens is classic sci fi adventure. Its a suspense/action rollercoaster.
I love both of them.

Aye first two where amazing, three was okay if not for the horror hatchet job it did on the surviving characters from 2. (Damn they worked hard enough to escape that nightmare.)
Ressurection, although not eveyones cup of tea, is quite an enjoyable Sci-fi film, and is partially saved by some of the characters within it.
Tbh Ron Pearlman has a chance to save nigh on any movie he's in, no matter how pants the rest of it is.

According to canon, the space jockey used alien eggs as living bombs in their wars or something. Drop on enemy trneches, then just wait a few months and waste the planet from space. Apparently before this specific attack, the eggs hatched before they could be dropped. I really find myself drawn to Gigers art, the whole creepy grimdark fell it's got. EDIT: Pulled this off of a website, should explain some stuff. Wikipedia Sez wrote:The Alien production team nicknamed the creature aboard the derelict ship "The Space Jockey". H. R. Giger, who designed the derelict and the Space Jockey, as well as the titular Alien, originally named the Space Jockey "The Pilot". Aliens director James Cameron also called the creature the "Big Dental Patient".[1] According to the writers, the scene inside the derelict's interior with the Jockey pilot was essential. Although the Fox production company wanted to pull the scene for cost reasons, the filmmakers won and the scene was filmed. The full-scale Space Jockey prop was 26 feet (7.9 m) tall. A smaller version of the prop was destroyed by arsonists while on display at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood. In an application of the special effects technique of forced perspective, Scott dressed his own children in scaled down Nostromo spacesuits and filmed them walking around the Space Jockey's dais to make the whole set appear twice as large as it actually was." The Book of Alien notes that the actors and crew felt instinctively that the Space Jockey was a benign creature, though they could not say why. In the bonus materials of the special edition Alien DVD, director Ridley Scott expresses the opinion that a film exploring the backstory of the Space Jockey would be an interesting direction for the series to take. The Space Jockey is discovered in Alien when the commercial starship Nostromo sets down on the unsurveyed moon LV-426 to investigate an unknown signal. The crew finds a crashed derelict spacecraft with its fossilized pilot -- the Space Jockey -- inside. The derelict ship contains several thousand alien eggs. Scott suggests in his Alien DVD commentary that the Jockey's ship was a "bomber": alien eggs could be dropped on an enemy planet, and the aliens would proceed to kill the population as they spawned. According to Cameron, the Space Jockey's craft picked up alien eggs and the pilot became infected by the dangerous cargo; the ship landed on LV-426 and the Space Jockey transmitted the signal as a warning.[1] John Mollo and Ron Cobb's "The Alien Portfolio" and Alan Dean Foster's novelization of Alien state the Space Jockey encountered the aliens on LV-426. In Foster's Alien novelization, Ash describes the Space Jockey's race as a noble people and hopes that mankind will encounter them under more pleasant circumstances. It also states that they were larger, stronger and possibly more intelligent than humans. Foster's novelization states that the Jockey was trying to warn humans away from the aliens.

I think that's a false rumour, mainly because Christian Bale was only six years old at the time and Scott's children were about twelve. I can't imagine he was that tall at six. I have heard it was actually Tom Skerritt's son.

I think alot of the Dark Horse stuff is considered to be cannon KK.
I really liked their Alien vs Predator comics, like the one that took place on Ryushi and had the gal that got included into the Predator's tribe. Something they kinda took for the movie which was a disapointment to me after the AvP and AvP 2 games, and the comics.

Well the first series had Hicks and Newt surviving which was contradicted right away by Aliens 3 (aka Aliens - Let's kill this franchise DEAD).
Personally I regard it as more canon than Aliens 3 but the rights holders might disagree.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Cheesy did you know that when they did the scene only the Ripley/animation crew and Kane actor knew what was going to happen. Al the other actors were kept in the dark. Look at the scene again and look at those freakout faces-those are real reactions.
