Hail Dakka Dakka!

I last visited you with my plans to create a legion of Salamanders for the Great Crusade event at Warhammer World. Well that goal was achieved and the weekend was most enjoyable!

Here's a snap of the final line-up on the day:

Rather than further this force, as is not my nature, I have chosen to build a new army from scratch for the second event - the Horus Heresy. Combining my club's 'tale of' project with this effort, I have chosen to pursue the Martian Mechanicum, particularly the side that joins Horus, under Kelbor Hal.

My lists are not yet finalised, but certain units are definitely going to be involved:

1 The Kaban machine
2 The Red Angel
3 Kelbor Hal
4 Biologis Walker
5 Myrmidon Assault Walker(s)
6 Menials + COGs
7 Skitaari Hypaspists
8 Warden Sentinels

I am also taking advantage of allies, fielding some daemons and Sons of Horus where allowed.

First up, my Magos Prime. This may end up acting as Kelbor Hal on the day as I need to spend time on the rest of the list before building another Magos.

I have a whole jumble of models in the works, but don't really want to post old pictures, so I'll update when I get a chance to work on them some more.

Next up should hopefully be 2+4.

VERITAS NUMQUAM PERIT

Looks good so far, although im not a fan of the skinny wraith leg robes... it needs to be a bit more substantial i think.

question - where did you get that nice bendy wire? it doesn't look like guitar string.

Thanks for the kinds words. I appeciate feedback and criticism if you have any as that helps me strive to improving my models rather than becoming complacent with something 'OK'

I have started work on the Kaban Machine. I've chosen to use Battlewagon tracks, widened by about 2-3mm. It looks like most of this model's torso will have to be sculpted as I cannot see any bits from GW that suit it. I'd rather not fork out for more Rackhams models to butcher *chuckle*.

I don't like making blog posts without posting a picture, so here is a WIP Combat Ogryn. I replaced his puny pick axe with something more substancial and added some extra piping to his back. Only done the base metal and skin colour so far. Money permiting, I'd like 4-10 of these *dreams*.

I'm building the army for a Tempus Fugitives campaign weekend. ,so the rules are their own Cult Mechanicus and attached Warmaster forces.

HERESY! The Omnissiah condemns thee to an eternity of rust and leaking lubricant from embaressing locations.

I jest of course, this looks awesome The FW Chaos Ogryns have a really good look that I think links in well. You thinking of using any of the othr FW models like the Blood Crusher or Brass Scorpion as the basis for conversions? Think they'd fit the feel also

I bought a Brass Scorpion a while back to use for my Forge of Souls demons. If I can get a confirmation from the organisers, I may very well use it

Nice stuff, the heresy era is such an interesting time in 40K, and so rarely do we get to see armies from that time.

Nice work, I like the skin tone on the Ogryn. I have been eyeing those guys for a while, I think they could look really cool painted up on the battlefield. What did you use for the extra pipping? Is that guitar string? Does anyone know if there is a tutorial on how to use guitar string? I know I sound total noobish, but please humor me.

Thanks
Chris

It's great to see another exploring Mechanicus imagery. I look forward to following your progress.

I also thought Kreig Grenadiers would make great Skitarii. I have a photoshop comp on my project log which is similar to your model. Expensive but probably the best looking Skitarii possible with avaliable parts.
