Hey all, just a quick one..

My mate has got a Eldar Revenant Titan (800pts ish), if you were up against this in an Apocalypse battle...how would you take it out (using roughly the same points cost?)
For instance i play Tau so was thinking of getting a Tigershark with the Twin Heavy Railguna as it costs about the same..

Would be interested to know how you guys would go about it? Would you take a super-heavy vehicle/flyer and what would it be? or would you spend the points on regular tanks etc instead, and what would they be?

Well, Titans or other super heavies tend to have D strength weapons so they pop normal vehicles with ease. The best answer to a super heavy is another super heavy. If you were to buy the same points cost worth of normal tanks the titan could take out half of your firepower in one turn. A superheavy has various shields, structure points or damage control systems to keep them in the game a bit longer.

Your side is always the "will of the people" the other side is always fundamentalist, extremist, hatemongers, racists, anti- semitic nazies with questionable education and more questionable hygiene. American politics 101.

I seem to remember there being a space marine formation you could take that included a special character and a whole bunch of TH/SS Terminator Squads. It allowed you to either deep strike directly onto the carapace of a titan or to deep strike and assault a titan. Not sure about the points, but if you could get 15 TH/SS Terminators assaulting the Reaver before the Reaver can shoot at them, that would be something like 45 S8 attacks that bypass the shields....

Having played many apocalypse games and fielded the Revenant, the way it dies is that you shoot everything you have that can hurt it at it. What you really hope for is any result that keeps it from moving. If it can't move it won't get it's shield save. after that it's just hitting it enough to take away it's structure points. You don't have to have Superheavies to counter other superheavies but it helps. Concentration of fire is the key, shoot everything you can at it and you can take it down in a turn or two. Usually it will be fairly crippled after the first turn of firing having lost structure points, weapons getting destroyed/shaken, lost movement, etc.

The same things goes for other superheavies/titans, if you want it dead you may have to ignore other smaller threats to make sure it dies. There's not really a trick that's gonna get you an easy kill, freak things happen but concentrating a huge amount of fire on it is really the only sure way to get it.

Titan Hammer squads don't teleport directly onto a Titan's carapace just inside the range of void shields, it's relatively simple in apocalypse games to keep a bunch of units at your titan's feet preventing the hammers from getting into combat. In addition Titan's don't get locked into close combat, at the end of the round all models engaged with them are pushed back 1" so they can simply walk away or in the Revenant's case jump away and those terminators will never catch it. The biggest threat they may pose is that they come with a vortex grenade, which while no guarantee can be a help in bringing big things down. Most of the time they mostly just scare the crap out of whoever threw them.

Terminators with Chainfists

I dropped a warhound titan with 2 chainfist terminators in 1 turn from an undamaged state.

now, these were wolf guard bodyguard with chainfist/stormshields, and 6 attacks each on the charge.... but you know.... yea I would be fielding 6 or 7 of them vs a revenant.

Apocalypse allows for some pretty broken combos.... Ragnar leading Wolf Guard Bodyguard, with Logan Grimnar and Pedro Cantor right next to them.... 2 base, +2 for charging, +1 for pedro, +1 for logan.... give them wolf pelts and laugh when the enemy charges you.

For the Tau you can get 3 full 3 man broadside units fully decked out. They all have TL rail guns. use marker lights. 9 shots at BS 5 says 7.5 S10 AP1 hits. Then after it goes down soon you can target other threats. Wraith Lords HATE rail guns. hehehe.

Wrong. While the callidus makes it move up to 6" in the direction of the Callidus's controller's choice, the controlling player of the target chooses its facing. Nice way to get it out in the open though.

I agree with many railguns and markerlights. Or chainfist Termies, although that option doesnt really help as you play Tau.
So, railguns railguns railguns!

From the front or sides, Psycannons can glance a Revenant to death (S6 + ignores invul vs AV12 + invul save). From behind ... well, it's best left unsaid.
