Lets see what everyone thinks and has done about the "shocking" new space hulk set.

I preordered it, I started my GW addiction with Hero Quest and never had an opprotunity to play Space Hulk, Also, my two 40k Armies are marines and nids... so yea.

Got mine ordered.

Considering adding a second as Brothers Birthday pressie for November. Dunno yet though. It's quite a lot of bread that.

can`t decide, really. On the one hand I like Space Hulk and really enjoy that GW released new edition. On the other hand for this price I could get one (at least) of equally cool boardgames....

Yea, my deciding factor was the Genestealer models themselves, I am working on a stealer shock army right now, and throwing in those 22 + broodlord would be sweet. They look very nice IMO.

I would like to buy it but I can't justify splurging £70 which could buy me at least two other good boardgames like Settlers of Catan.

Not interested. I have the original and it will be interesting to see how the rulesets compare. But it's not £80 interesting.

I would like the figures though.

Woke up, purchased Space Hulk.

With the amount I played the original, even purchasing the expansions/the lame second version and additional terminators.
I probably still under a dollar a hour for the entertainment.

Though I will be blowing up those tiles to 40mm for the new base sizes and the anti-arm tangle.

Slightly OT... I speculate from the details released so far that the rules will consist of first edition with Deathwing and Genestealer expansions rolled into them.

also slightly OT, I am getting very excited about this now, and I cant wait to introduce a few non-40k players to Space Hulk as a gateway drug.

I love the look of it, and I'd buy it, if I had any disposable income at all.
And I fear by the time I get fully re-employed and solvent again, the "mystery box" window will close.

Ah well. I'll be playing it with friends.

Preordered it with 5mins of seeing the Space Hulk thread here on Dakka this morning.

Was actually 15mins late for work while I sorted it out. That'll teach me for popping onto Dakka just as I should be going out the door.

Space Hulk without Deathwing...it's a sad, sad day...

I've bought a few - I know people wont shell out 100$, but they will shell out some $$$ for a terminator... or few =)

I played the computer game back in the day, and that was sufficient for me. I have no use for Termies or Genestealers, and certainly not at the $100 price tag.

I'm debating preordering it. Does anyone know if GW's webstore will charge your card when you make the order or when the product ships? Don't get paid til the end of the month so this is quite key!

Regardless of if they charge right away or not, it will incur a pending authorization with your bank, so the funds need to be there.

Mine is locked in and I am looking forward to playing it with the wife & kids! Should be a lot easier to teach them than 40K.

Mmmmmmm, when's the last time you saw a BA army with 30 terminators, I guess not in this codex since you can't have more than five in a squad.....but wait-planetstrike!!

I would be interested if it wasn't a limited run and I actually had time to save up a whopping $100 for it. But nope. Either get it now or don't get it I guess, and if that's the game GW wants to play then I just won't get it.

That and I'm still bitter about "Everything you've been told is a lie"...

It doesn't cost 80£... The price on the GW website is 58.70£, a huge difference (to me).
EDIT: Oh, Maddoc beat me to it.

Anyway, I'm really tempted - I *love* the setting (movies like Alien or Event Horizon are pretty much my favorite genre as far as just casually watching movies go), but I dunno... I kind of want to finish my eldar army as well, and BFG is tempting. Ah well :]

I would like to add those Stealers to my Nids, because they are awesome looking models, but even if I wanted to play Space Hulk (I was not overly interested when it first came out) I would not shell out $160 for it. I can pick up a flipping Baneblade for $150!

Hmm lets see if I can justify SH's price solely on the models alone. I'll be using GW equivalent models when possible which means that there will be some metals invovled:

11 Terminators : Either have to buy AOBR or their expensive 5 man set for something similar, at 10 bucks a terminator the SH deal already doesn't seem as bad (already over a $100 worth of GW minis) however I'm not sure how much an AOBR termie goes for on Ebay.
1 Terminator Librarian : Costs around $10-15 for a metal equivalent
22 Genestealers : 8 for $30 normally; equaling above $60 worth
Dead SM on Throne
Blood Angels artifact
Cyber altered task unit : Not sure where GW sells objectives but at a modest $5 per item this would be at least $15 worth normally; however the SM on the throne would likely retail $15 if a metal counterpart was available
One Broodlord: About $20 for a metal equivalent

= At least $100-200 worth of GW minis? However this set doesn't include bitz and its all plastic; also the min's are new and limited.

**** Of course the other plastic sets come with more bitz but Space Hulk has its own advantages as well:

1. Limited edition mini's
2. Newer and looks to be more detailed if the pics are any indication of quality
3. You have enough to play a full game
4. This post didn't include the value for the rest of the SH stuff

So by mini's alone and with GW's retail prices; this set is actually kind of a deal and its got a lot of cool factors going for it like being limited edition, being a full game, and is a vessel for GW vets and newbies alike to play and enjoy.

I'm torn I can't decide, most likely I will not get it but, not 100% sure.

I've pre-ordered mine this morning, giddy as hell.

Price point is too high.

I pre-ordered one within 30 seconds seeing the box cover. Two other friends have ordered theirs as well.
