Right, I thought I would start afresh with a new thread, as my old one hadn't been updated in a while and in my opinion was filled with too many irrelevant pictures (yes MY irrelevant pictures)
Sorry if this confuses anyone or makes people hate me, I thought it was a good idea at the time (and it wont happen again) Oh and thanks to all the positive things said in my old thread, I do hope I can inspire more people to make make looted dreads and other such awesome things!

Anyway back to the important stuff!

In case people had missed it, here's my WIP deff dread and Skorchabuggy again:

Here's some shoota boys I made up, I tried to get all of them to have at least 2 unusual things about them. I think on the modelling side they turned out pretty good.

Took forever thought >.<

Most importantly I FINISHED MY BIG MEK YAY! Here he is 95% done, wanted to take pictures before completely finishing 'cos you never notice quite everywhere you've messed up till its on camera ^^

There are a couple more pics of him in my gallery if you want to be extra nosey and/or are bored of painting your own little green men

Next up will be painting the deff dread, skorchabuggy, 12 'ard boyz, 12 shoota boyz, and making some burna boyz or kommandos or more shoota boyz. Might take a while :/ promise I'll update within 2 weeks this time though!

Soo... I've been doing some painting and its taking even longer than I had expected, to paint anything. However the deff dread and 'ard boys should be done soon.

In the mean time here's a WIP deff kopta.. PLANE! I think I'll only be making one of these and having the rest of the squad as normal deff koptas.

I promise the next update will be this week, and will be worth the wait

Unfortunately I don't have many bits which look at all like wings so these aren't really possible... yet

Not exactly

The plane is mostly the deffkopta bits, the wings are from the trukk, and the bits behind the pilot are from the boyz sprue - they cover up the hole left by sawing the helicopter rotor off. Ohh and the missuls are from an old airfix set.

Hopefully this will make up slightly for my absence

No its not quite finished :/ The pictures don't really do it justice so I'll do some more when its completely done and its sunny.
I think I need to do some highlighting on the end of the gun and most of the base isn't done obviously.. painting tips/suggestions would be nice, I've actually never painted anything this large before

(except a carnifex but it had fewer details/colours).

HUMPH you people are being quite recently...
Thanks grey_death though. I didn't realize it would be so hard to choose which colours to do which metal bits, in a couple of places it went silver, blue, black, transfer, then back to blue again... Oh and YOUR painting is fantastic, the ultramarines chaplain you painted is one of the best painted miniatures I've ever seen, I think

Well unless I decide to stick some static grass on the base... I'll take some pics when its sunny again.

New things!

I decided to make a new 'ard boy nob using one of the AOBR nobs as a base. Why I here you ask? Well 1, his pose was kinda boring, 2, the bottom of his 'uge chopper was too frail and too fiddly to pin, 3, I changed my mind and wanted a PK, and most importantly, he just didn't look 'ard enough! Here's the new one, and yeh he has a slugga behind the shield:

I'm making some kommandos before I paint the shoota boyz. What's that, your asking why again? Because kommandos are the awesome and I find modelling more fun than painting. :/ I got the kommandos box set and will be making >10 kommandos in total (so I have weapon options). One of the kommandos WILL have a SNIPER (counts as big shoota or maybe rokkit) and I have no idea how to model it and I can't find any pictures of orks with snipers... So It's a challenge. John likes challenge

EDIT: Ohh I found a sniper kommando by ancientsociety... now it's going to be even harder as it'll have to be completely different to his!

Before that though, I need answers! To stikkbomb, or not to stikkbomb? (Meaning I can't decide if this guys backpack is too big/small with/without the stikkbombz.)

Thanks for the suggestion MeanGreenStompa, but I already have the front of a dreadnought that I cut off my deff dread (and I'm not gonna be making more nobz for a while, I'm not even going to be using that one until I've played some games with the big mek leading that squad :/

BEFORE ya'all scroll down to the pictures... I need more ideas for conversions like this. I might do a land raider battlewagon one day, but would like a smaller project in the mean time which might get me some SM/IG armour that I can put on my boyz (I've run out of SM shoulder pads *sad* so I... I dunno actually, might have to buy a 10 man tactical squad or something.)

Deff dread finished pictures, have a look at my gallery if you want to see a few more. Also I couldn't get a very good picture of the base but I guess you get the idea. Also also, it does look "dirtier" in real life and the "WAAAGH!!!" looks better, no really it does

Some nice conversions here, I really like the trike/buggy. The dread is nicely painted, it looks quite well damaged and orkied up. I think that perhaps a bit more of a rusted look would suit overall. Otherwise, great work.

Because everyone seems to like the skorchabuggy and the plane, I might have to start painting them now (:
The 'ard boyz just need some touching up (lol that didn't sound wrong in my head) and paint on their bases and they'll be done, I guess I'll post pics of them soon.
I was making some kommandos, but I've run out of SM shoulder pads and other looted stuff to stick on them, so they might not be done for a while *sad*

May I just say 'WAAAAAGH!'

Very orky, I approve. Your painting and converting skills are commendable.

May I say however, that the Big Mek's gun is a little too large to be weilded single-handed, even if at rest.

I recommend adding a chain between his gun and shoulder plate, to take the weight.

I do this with all of my ork's large weaponry, it's a good look. (My warboss has this on both arms - an assault cannon and a power drill)

Still, it's amazing to say the least.

That's some amazing kitbashing, especially the deff-plane. A squadron of them would be fantastic if you can find the time, maybe get a red-baron [edit: make that the blue baron] theme going: imagine a deff-triplane for the skwadron leeda!
