I can't decide wether I should collect Orks or Space Wolves.

Reasons for and against Orks...

For:
I like the models.
The Mega Dread.
I can paint Orks really really well.

Against:
Too many models to paint.
Very expensive army.

Reasons for and against Space Wolves...

For:
I have a codex and have a bit of knowledge on how to play them well.
I love the background.
Small Army.
Thunderwolves.
Canis.

Against:
Not enough variation in the models, but the new sprues counter this a bit.
I hate painting Grey - so a successor chapter is in order methinks.
Getting all those shoulder pads is expensive.

Little help?

Please do Orks, if only for the sake of not being another one to hop on the broken, SW, new codex bandwagon like GW wants you do. New codexes are always awesome cos they WANT you to buy them. Stick it to the man, play Orks and only buy off Ebay! Do it!

Also I am more a fan of Orks than SW but thats just me.

As i have yet to get a chance to seee the new codex, and i havent seen any old ones in a while, what is a thunder wolf?

Also orks can be fairly cheap to get your hands on. I just started them recently, picked up an AOBR set, 30 or so boyz, couple extra deffkoptaz, and a rhino (for looted wagon, thank god that was free) and so far i've spent around $80.00 USD so far, rounding up. What i did was buy off any orks people had out of AOBR who just wanted the marines for much less than buying each box individually. If you do go with orks be ready to get completely sick of painting boyz, I've only got 54 so far and im dreading painting any more.

I havent got to check out the wolfy codex yet so I cant really give my opinion on which army you should build, but what I do know is that if someone as poor as I am can afford orks, anyone can. You can pick up some pre painted boyz on ebay and strip the paint off with simple green if you like.

Do you really think orks can't win without nob bikerz? I'm still learing with em, but i thought using trukks and BWs or doing that kan gunline thing might work? I was kinda think about doin bikerz anyway, maybe it's a good thing i havent ran out and bought trukks yet? I would know this if anyone had replied to my army list thread.

Also, I'm still working on the voodoo magic, but I'm not quite there yet. I keep turning my dice into possums.

Ork Nobz on bikes are an expensive unit that can beat face better than almost anything else.

Thunderwolves are SW on giant Wolf Mounts.
They get an obscene amount of Str 5 rending attacks are cavalry and are just freekin awesome, especially with Storm Shields.

Downside there are currently no models for them (although I have it on good authoritah that Forge World have some due for release near Xmas) and with Storm Shields they are 80 pts each.

Oh ok, sounds like a fun conversion project for some people. I'm starting to think i should convert my SM to wolves, I havent even seen the codex yet but all i hear about it is how good they are.

Well the reason people say nob bikers is because it really can be a terror unit. If you plan on doing tournaments, then using them to death is pretty much a given. I dont play tournaments.
Ive only used nob bikers once. It was a REALLY expensive unit, and as luck would have it, I took a bad dice roll with a vindicator pie plate on them. Ive won many games using trukks/wagons and switching out from moving to foot slogging depending on what the game size it and so on.
Its true tho, painting all those boyz, makes you want to kill people. In fact Im wating till tax season to buy an airbrush kit so it takes time off the painting of them. Ive got 60 boyz down, and everytime I think about painting.... I get sick.
Orks actually have alot of builds you can do that are pretty effective (in non tournament play of course) Naturally Im saying go for green, because I love Orks. And yes, you can save ALOT of money buying them from ebay. ALSO if you convert things you can make bikers for WAY less then GW sells them for. Check out my gallery and youll see what I did.

I love both my Wolves and my Orks, but I say you should go Orks. Don't jump the bandwagon. If you still want to do the army in a few months, go for it, but I think it would be best to go the greenest route. You've got a mega-dredd as your avatar for god's sakes

Of course if you love Space Wolves as much as I love Orks you should play the Puppies. But it should be because you like the models and fluff and rules, not just because they are new and shiney.

I win alot with my Orks and I don't own a single bike. I made it into the Semi-Final of the 'Ard Boys with a 132 model foot-sloggin army .

Go Space Wolves they are very fluffy with alot of neat stuff. I kinda wish I started on 'em but I went Chaos instead.
There will be plenty of Ork players awaitin for yas.

I want to second that Orks don't need bikes to be successful. I had a friend go all the way to finals without any bikes.

My comment about bikes was more ironic than helpful. Of course people play Nob Biker armies - it's the Ork 'Dex's power build.

Play Orks. Honestly they're more interesting than most Marines (and I say this as a Marine player without an Ork army) and the new model range is just fantastic.

While I had fun painting my orks, it is a big investment, it dosn't have to be though.

Every ork kit you buy, you'll get parts you don't use right away, save those bits (like the burna tanks from the loota box) then if you go "Hmm I need some stormboz" then you've got 8-9 cylinders you can easily turn into rokkit packs.

I hate to break it to you, space wolves won't be any cheaper...but I'm all for you doing a successor chapter, I'd actually like to do that myself, I'm curious as to what you'd come up with. All in all, what drove the desicion for me (doing Orks) was I saw some ork info and I went "I'm so doing this!"

So look through the Ork and Space Wolf stuff, like Kult of Speed? Meganobs? Wolfguard? Thunderwolves?(lol, someone has to do it)

This is the problem...

I'm so on the fence for deciding what army to do and all the advice that has been given has been awesome, but I'm still no closer to deciding because the arguments for and against from the Dakka population has been that damn good.

Now I know how good Thunderwolves are, but are Nob bikers really that good?

You see, ATM the only units that I like from SW are TWC, LF and Canis.

Where as with Orks, I can write up a really long list. I even like Flash Gitz, just because I want to convert them.

Do Orks, as they are cheaper and far better for conversions. Also, the world doesn't need any more space wolf players.

If you want to win tournaments then go for Orks.
If you want a cool looking army then I'd opt for SW or whatnot.

I've got it! Build Orks, put topknots and wolf tails all over them, and use the Space Wolves Codex. Problem solved.

If you cant come up with reason why you should play SW then they are not for you. Why should we convince you to play SW. How about you try and convince us why you would be worthy enough to play them?
