of having an entire battle company! about 40 of them are painted so far, 75 assembled, but I have them all. I also have 4 rhinos and a razorback for transports! maybe get some drop pods for the rest (if needed), bulk up on my terminators section (I only have 10) and i'll be ready to scratch build a thunderhawk and start playing some apocalypse madness!

update... I have the full company together... summary on last post.

Also, request this be moved to the blog section? This probably doesn't belong in general.

Good luck. It's a some what daunting task painting a full Company.

Not one single Guard army, no. But I do own 4 of them(thanks to there not being a LatD list anymore).

I find Marines are way easier. They for 1 don't have flesh showing unless there Seargents. And the over all have less detail on the them unless its like sterguard or something.

I take the painting of my marines very slowly.... here's a sample of them I posted a few weeks ago... half an assault squad:

I like the paint scheme! (Not such a fan of the unsanded bases, though I like their general concept).

We need pics of the whole company!

oo aurora chapter very nice good to see someone playing a non home-brew but not widely used chapter. Great in macharian crusade campaigns and very nicely painted.

No way. Model for model, Marines are easier than Guard due to Guard inherently mapping back to RL. Guard want camo patterns and faces, while Marines are smooth armored shapes.

My company thus far... its missing 6 assault marines, 10 dev marines (the bolter guys, got the sarges + heavy weapons), and the command squad.

This is captain punchy... dual powerfists and a bad attitude.

Chaplain McGrumpypants.... he rapes and murders babies for fun.

Not bad, tho if you click on my Ragnarok Einherjar IG, you'll see that I'll need to paint more stuff, and I've chosen to paint camoflague to make my life even more difficult.

BTW, when you talk about a full battle company, are you also including a full set of 11+ Transports, along with support artillery (WW / Vindi)?

I now want to make a company sized khorne warband (SW count as WE).
How much points is a SM company?

A full company?

2x Command w/ Razor [400] = 800 (Captain & Chaplain)
6x Tactical w/ Rhino [250] = 1500
2x Assault [250] = 500
2x Dev w/ Rhino [350] = 700
= 3500 pts total.

Add Company assets of 1 Dread, 1 Landspeeder, & 3 Tanks, and you're pushing 4000 pts, easy.

Add Librarian, 10 Termies w/ 2 LR from 1st Co & Scouts from 10th, and you're definitely 5000+ pts.

IMO, a demi-company is a better starting place for regular games of 40k, as it leaves more room for other stuff to add flavor & variety.

john, you should note that in the new edition of space marines, you can't have 2 command squads unless you have 2 captains... so the chaplain would join the captain's command squad.

You CAN fit a company into 2500 points, but its not geared out as well as it could be. its probably around 2750 full geared.

What loadout are you giving the devs? 350pts!?

In all the W40K Books Ive read, they barely ever use rhinos. So I think they can be taken out, make the devs cheaper, make the command squad cheaper.

It might all fit into 3000 points.

How would I do a company sized warband..hmmmm.

In all the W40K Books Ive read, they barely ever use rhinos.

Technically, per the Codex Astartes, every Dev squad is 10 men strong with a Rhino.

Weapons-wise, I assumed 4 Plasma Cannons - because only the Loyalist SM can take them!

[I have the models for 2 such Plasma squads]

So it's a n00b Company, hence lots of BCs, no Long Fangs & no Wolf Guard?

OK, that's fine, but the 3x Wolf Lord looks off - maybe make one a Rune Priest?

as this is for apocalypse, and my friends run eldar with a strong air force, I think i'm going to have to chuck in some anti-air... what do you think ? Hyperios missile platforms or Hyperios Whirlwinds? Thats pretty much the only options I have (he has 2 freaking vampire hunters....)

Its SW count as WE warband, so no rune priests :(.
BCs are Khorne Berzerkers, long fangs are pretty crap.

They look good on paper but there too fragile.
