So I think that the eldar aren't dying out at all.

Because they send they're troops out with no armour and a ninja-shotgun, they sacrifice they're best warriors to their god and they are always getting killed, there also BS 3, which goes to show how much training they provided to them. You drive a tank and your BS 3, you have every technological advancement ever and a 20 year old guardsmen in a sweaty caustraphobic leman russ shoots as well as you?

What actually happens is there are only so many flats on a craftworld, and because the eldar breed like rabbits theres no housing.

So the farseer (who is in charge of pop control) goes "Oh look orks, they will kill our craftworld in 1000 years if we dont divert them now!" The army goes in, a bunch die, the orks are not stopped in any obvious way. But now there are flats free for the next generation.

What about Iyanden? why dont they just keep breeding, well un fortunately Iyanden lost all its women.. Only old women left.. so yeah.

Why dont they settle new worlds? See the thing is Eldar are truly fussy whingers, and refuse to settle new worlds. It would be like asking a city person to live in the desert in a hut, they'd rather die or let poor people die instead.

Why dont they build new craftworlds? Well this one is simple, cause the farseers won't let them. If Ulthwe built a new craftworld then everyone would leave Ulthwe.. because the Farseers are so annoying.

So there you have it why the eldar fight like fools in the 41st millenium, because there are only so many flats and Eldrad is a dick.

Forever alone

I think Guardians should be squatted. A DYING RACE sending its civilians IN WAVES at the enemy doesn't make any sense at all.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Their race is dieing and some Craftworlds are forced to send in the civilians in addition to the Aspect Warriors because they simply do not have enough for a proper fighting force. Every time an Eldar dies it gives strength to Ynnead, the god of death.

Lexicanum wrote:Ynnead represents the last hope of the dwindling Eldar race. They believe that when the Infinity Circuits hold all the spirits of their race, all of the Craftworlds will unite into one Infinity Circuit, and the collective spirits of the Eldar will join to form a new Power in the Warp that will battle and subdue Slaanesh, so that Eldar spirits may once more be able to merge with it and form a single, balanced entity. By doing so, if such a thing is possible, they hope that this will allow the Eldar race to be reborn into a better form. Meanwhile the Craftworlds and the spirit stones must be guarded from harm and continue to survive, so that all Eldar can see and form in their own minds a concept of the Eldar virtues that will enter along with their spirits into the Infinity Circuits.

Ynnead itself (the God of the Dead) is supposedly a nascent Eldar god growing in the collective Infinity Circuits of every craftworld, from the souls of dead Eldar. It has yet to manifest itself, as it has yet to attain enough power to fulfill its purpose: to destroy Slaanesh and free the Eldar. Its relationship to Kaela Mensha Khaine is unclear.

As Eldar die and their souls become part of the Infinity Circuits, the god grows in power. A few Eldar Seers believe that once every single Eldar has died, Ynnead will awaken and have the strength to defeat Slaanesh forever.

you're kidding right?

In the absence of any actual standing military, small forces will institute civilian conscription. The Eldar don't want to fight, but they know they must. And I concur, this thread appears to be a "hur hur, space elves is stoooopid" thread. Probably a Spehss Marine player... lol

Actually I play eldar too..

Im sorry they just dont make sense.. this is how I think of them. Farseers are dicks who send everyone to die.

If you really could farsee, then you should win most of your battles, but in the fluff they dont. If anything Tigurus is the greatest farseer ever by fluff.

Also their tech is crap, bs3 on tanks, catapult, no assualt vehicle.

Now you may say rules arent fluff.. no gak, but they should atleast reflect fluff remotely.

Thats my opinion. cling to you eldrad propaganda about dying race, cause it doesn't make sense.

Actually, the Farseers undertand that time is mutable but some events cannot be avoided, only delayed or changed. Admittedly your bound to get a Farseer who is, as you put it, 'a dick' however, the idea of civilian conscription to help an addled and dying military force is far more realistic, and alot better formed than the drivel you speak sir.

Not that i's like to admit that the eldar are dying out (because they are obviously the best race in the 40K world) the fact they send out guardians is proof theyre dying out ( ), they dont have enough aspect warriors so they send in the civilians.

Viva la Eldar!!!!!

I agree partially with the OP.

The problems I have with the Eldar are they're 60 million years old, the most technological race in the galaxy. You'd think they'd have the technology to increase the BS of their tanks, and make their shuriken catapults a lot better.

Their Guardiands don't make much sense in that they have short range weapons when the unit is mostly deisgned for defence, thus you would give them weapons with greater distance, better armour, and technology to increase their BS (such as Tau).

Their weaponry and armour for the Aspect Warriors also don't make much sense. They all have a 4+ save but you'd think for a race 60 million years old they would have developed armour that would give them a 3/2+ save, weapons that increase the range and strength, a varity of different tanks and walkers.

I also believe Farseers and Warlocks should have more powers and there should be a class that is a warrior/psyker but alas there is none.

Eldar also don't tend to colonize worlds very much (infact I have never read any fluff to support they do) along with doing anything to increase the birth rate of their race. If they were truley dying then they would have robots to do most of the fighting for them.

The impression I get from Eldar is that they're simular to Imperical Guard with smaller numbers and dedicated units to a specific role. Hopefully at some point they will make Eldar more realistic.

The joy of 40K fluff is that you can make it what you want.

In your personal fluff Biel Tan are such a presence because they've "got back on track" and have decided to quit ebing emo. Their aggressiveness belies their growing capabilities. Like an economy they've been in a racial trough for 10K years but have hit bottom. The first "greenshoots" pardon the pun are being seen in the new Biel Tan resurgence. The time of the eldar is coming again.

Well, on the other hand, a fully trained IG trooper is the equal (in skill terms) of a conscript Eldar citizen, who very well could be, in their "day job" a dancer or a poet or a chef!

Compare an IG conscript to a Guardian.....now what do you think! Not to mention, the Eldar Guardian gets to drive a tank, operate a weapons platform, pilot a walker, and fly a jet bike! An IG conscript gets given a direction, a torch and a t-shirt!....

Yeah, I can see why Eldar are stupid ?!?!?

There is a huge difference here.

The Eldar have the technology and resources compared to the Imperium to train the Guardian much better. An Eldar is physically superior to a Human in every way along with 60 million years worth of technology to enhance them.

Not really, the Eldar live on spaceships and have no need to stand and fight anyone. The whole lot of them could pick up their toys and sod off to the next galaxy until they got their numbers back up. It sounds like the farseers are a waste of space as they're not capable of changing anything - arrrgh we're all doooomed! Then why do we fight? To delay the inevitable... Huh, isn't that an oxymoron? Look, keep this to yourself but I'm not always right. So we're not doomed? Well arrr, maybe, yes I'm sure we are but best not to commit mass suicide just in case. Sanguinius knew he would die when fighting horus, but he did so anyway simply to do his duties.
Just because you know and dont like the outcome does not mean it shouldnt be done.
Just because they know a battle will be lost it does not mean they wont gain from it, be it intelligence or even an artifact.

Suffused with the dying memories of Sanguinus, the warriors of the Death Company seek only one thing: death in battle fighting against the enemies of the Emperor.

Then surely their game plan should be to engineer the destruction of the Dark Eldar and then kill themselves. Anything beyond that is pointless.

I've actually posted about the Eldar god of death in this topic, scroll up a bit. By the looks of it the souls need to be captured by the infinity circuit to effect the god of death. Dark Eldar don't do that and their souls are captured by Slanessh if I remember right. So only all the normal Eldar need to die to maybe make a new god that might be able to defeat Slaneesh.
