Today at the LA Bunker Vs. Chigago Bunker event over 4000 tanks participated in the event, allowing the US to take the record from England. The battle was brief and fairly one sided, with LA wiping out Chicago in their opening salvo.

On the plus side of things, It was the first battle I had been in that crossed state lines, with video feed from LA to Chicago and back, a very interesting experience, plus my side won.

It was a little disappointing that we spent more time setting up than shooting.

Hopefully someone else at the event took pictures, there were some amazing tanks there.

Did the USA use the correct method for being legit?

Were the tanks/MC's Fully built and painted? And were they actualy tanks? Last time i heard the US of A trying for the "most tanks" record they even counted bikes!!

hahaha no.... I didnt make it to the tanksgiving at LA bunker but trust me when I tell you that it wasnt even close to all painted... they allow gargantuan monsters, small walkers (killa kans and such) and didnt have a whole lot of guidelines... no bikes though I assure you

My Tyranid army has more tanks than that.

Not true - there is a painted Russ, two painted Land Raiders and a painted Vindicator in there. And a painted Dread and Land Speeder for that matter.

I was in Maryland, the rules were nothjing with a WS. So no dreads, MCs, bikes etc. Even defilers were out.

But they were not good at all about enforcing assembled/painted. The kid next to me had primed, turretless falcons he counted as Fire Prisms.

How exactly did the whole vid feed thing work? How was targeting/range/LOS determined etc?

No idea. In Maryland we just fought the other side of the room, occasionally we got calls that another store hit us with a missile or we hit another store with one.

I assume it meant something to someone.

I know we will the Manager at the NYC store.

There was no targeting, range, or LOS. The location or facing of vehicles didn't matter. Vehicles could've been left in their cases, or left at home, without having had any effect. Some players were using unopened vehicle kits as tanks, placed on the table.

-Everyone was BS 4, for simplicity.

-The goal was to roll to hit and penetrate an imaginary av12 target with all of your vehicle's weapons, as though you were firing at a vehicle within range of all your weapons.

-Each player recorded how many damage-inducing rolls (glancing or penetrating) they scored. There were no rolls on the damage tables, as there were no actual vehicles to damage- every glance or pen against the ghost you were "attacking" just got you one "hit".

After everyone had rolled to hit/damage their imaginary target, the total number of "hits" in the Chicago bunker were added together, and compared with the total of the LA bunker, who were also doing this.

Whichever bunker got the most "hits" (this was around 1-2 thousand hits) was the winner that round. There were two rounds.

No vehicles were ever actually damaged.

It wasn't really a battle, so much as a "which store can roll more 3's" contest. If there was a record for the biggest actual 40k tank battle, this event shouldn't be considered as a challenger to that record.

That is the most shameful, pathetic, sad excuse for a game I've ever heard. I'm disgusted to be part of the same hobby as the people who organized this. I think I'm going to sell all my warhammer stuff immediately and never play this game again...

...or not.

But seriously, that just sad.

No offense, but that sounds like a pretty lame event. It might not have been as bad if they were at least all painted.

As far as I know... except in painting competions and the like.... Fully painted armies is NEVER required at the LA Bunker for ANY events... Not even in tournaments are you required to bring a painted army... I dont believe the post that said unbuilt models still in box were played... But they should definitely make it a rule to be able to have your stuff painted to join certain events...

Here's the photos I took:

There were a couple models I wish I'd gotten shots of, but apparently I didn't. A great blue camo tank group, and a nurgle daemon prince with jet turbines on its back... oh well.
