I actually did that once... in a room full of people I screamed out a "NOOOOO!", we were playing on tables and the top of one had come loose, we were packing up and sliding the tables back to where they had been (this was a University classroom) and some guy slid the top of the table off, catapulting my *open* army box onto the floor and raining models galore!

Fortunately only ONE Marine broke... a heavy bolter, I thanked the Emperor that day.

Anyhoo, I want to hear some cringe-worthy stories!

I`m used to my predator breaking, but that`s mostly the sponsors ( ). What really ticks me is once after i had taken my army to the FLGS, my predator had the metal hand from my chaplain stuck between the two lascannons (TL). Me and my friend thought it was kinda funny, so i played the game with my chaplain stck on my tank (his unit was right at the tanks side). I was going to move the squad to take the last objective, but my chaplain was stuck. So i tried to pull it a little (note: not very hard). Both the cannons broke and flew to each side of the room (kinda like an eksplosion). It was fixed with a dab of glue though (luckily)

Anything that breaks between the toe and ankle. I have about 10 Necrons, 2 Space Marines, and 4 Guardsmen that have broken in said location. They are IMPOSSIBLE to save without looking awful.

I've never seen a model break at the feet... is that not very rare?

...I guess Necrons are more brittle?

Best and worst breakage of a model I have seen? Me and two buddies are playing fantasy in the Dallas GW GT in early 2000's.

My buddy is unpacking his undead about 2 tables down from me, and he has them all magnetized on their trays. They are all standing upright in a tool box and he takes the top tray out and then promptly drops it into the box on top of about 6 regiments of skeletons. All the regiments are squashed into stacks of bone pieces.

For like a radius of 10 tables around him all you could hear was a gasp and then a complete hush fell over the room. He took it in good spirit and cheerfully cried out for glue, but he ended up playing that game with a lot of half skeletons.

I had this one old heavy bolter Marine from back when they were hybrid kits. He managed to get knocked down and broken every single game. The worst that happened to me was probably a predator that got knocked off my table. Both heavy bolter sponsons broke and I have no idea where the turret went.

I remember reading a story in a thread like this once where a guy had an Eldar windrider host, with nothing but jetbikes. Someone walked by, and when they were putting their coat on, managed to knock the guy's entire army onto the floor.

I think the best story like this I've heard was a Grey Knight player accidentally leaving his army case on the train. Some concerned citizen saw a strange black box with a Nazi looking eagle on it, so they called the bomb squad. The bomb squad detected metal in the case, so they detonated it.

All my necrons glued together and set on fire by angry ex girlfreind.... true story it was just twenty necrons i was starting a army up.... but it still hurt to watch those cron go up in a blazed....

Here's one for your amusement. I managed to knock over and break a Forge world warhound titan, at forgeworlds first open day down at Nottingham, in front of the guy who
designed it.

The other day I walked to The Other Gaming Store in town to play 40k. When I open my cobbled-together box, I've broken off a few boltguns and a torso. During the battle, I manage to:

-Lose a Tac Marine after dropping a whole squad on the floor
-Pop a Dev-squad Lascannon's arms off after dropping it on the floor
-Break a lascannon sponson off my Predator
-Break a stormshield off a Terminator after dropping IT on the floor
-Break off an Assault Marine's jetpack after ... guess. JUST GUESS.

I have never butterfingered so many models in my life. I techncially dropped my sniper scouts too, but they're all metal so they didn't break.

Related to this and other model-molestation threads: I treat someone else's models with the same rules as religious tools. I don't touch them without permission or unless necessary, I treat them with respect, and handle them CAREFULLY.

I dropped my Nightbringer onto the floor while deploying, sending parts flying all over the FLGS. Played the game with a pair of floating legs, and ended up having to green stuff a scythe and repaint most of the model.

Worst would have to be in my LFGS .
Basically , he was using GW plastic case placed ontop of his jacket , with bottom of the army case wedged against the game table.

The problem is , the game table of course is coated by layer of pva glue to help protect the flock that was on it ( hence making it hard and (slippery?) so the plastic army case just slid off the table along with his whole army.

It seems traumatic to him as he desperately try to "salvage" what he could off the floor , 20 mins later he gave up and just threw everything in his bag and went home.

Worst Break? hmmm there are a few during painting.

First thing you have to no is that I have 2 cats, and well...you no, their cats soooooo:

I just finished painting my FWs (12 of them), and went up to sleep and left my models on the kitchen table not a good idea...

After having a good night sleep I went down to check on my new creations, I ran into the dark kitchen (not for the models, I just ran), and before I could utter a scream....*crunch* crunch*crunch*

Those 3 poor FW 'failed their armor save' in a way, and when I turned the lights on in the kitchen the FWs are scattered over the floor...To add insult to injury, the cats were still batting them around.

Yikes... Were the models alright? Being plastic and all?

I got in a wreck once and watched in cinematic slo-mo while my painstakingly painted armorcast Eldar Revenant Titan flew out of the window and down into a culvert, shattering into countless pieces. By the time the police arrived, I was so hoarse I could barely talk and totally red in the fase. The rest of the army was scattered all over the highway. Just because a spare tire fell off of an SUV and I ran into it. What sucks worse is that the army was worth more than the car that it flew out of. That's why I hate Eldar to this day. (That and Wave Serpents.)

This happened earlier this month. We had just finished a game at our tourney and i had my army bag sitting under the table with my defiler on top.
I then went to use the bathroom came back and got half way back to the table and watched a guy moving towards my table and kick the hadle of my bag and send it crashing violently to the carpeted but unpadded concrete floor. Broke three bottom legs off and the gun hull clean off.
Luckily for him it went together alright. But when it was kicked off you could have heard a SM model scream FOR THE EMPEROR!

My AOBR warboss was about to take on some tau, when my younger brother touched it, his arm fell off, while fixing that his head fell off, then his arm fell off again. . . . just great

but the worst was my younger brother, he place a battle suit on the floor(god knows why) and didn't look then stepped on it about a minute later, battlesuit parts went all over the basement. . .

I think I would start crying at that point.

I haven't seen many broken models (And some of the stories here are enough to make you weep) but my friend, who doesn't yet play the game, constantly manages to snap off an arm or leg of another friend's marines during our weekly gaming sessions. It's gotten to the point that I jokingly told him to get a holster to carry around his glue, because he always needs it. (Still looking for one to fit it into, though)

Oh, and I can back up Wildeyedjester's words - at my FLGS, which has a tiny room for playing games in (But it has some really, really nice boards in it) someone inadvertently knocked over a metal lunch box full of Assault Marines. They were padded with foam, but the lid was opened just enough to send several of 'em flying out onto the store floor. I don't think there was a single person in the room who didn't gasp and freeze in silence at the dropped models. Thankfully, the owner of the models didn't care too greatly, as he had stopped using them for the most part, and was trying to sell them off.

warpcrafter, I weep for you and your lost models. Words can't describe how much that must have sucked.

Crisis suits are a big fan of breaking at the ankles - they have really thin joints there.

I have two stories:

1. During an apocalypse game where I had a tower full of broadsides (about 10 broadsides) looming 72" worth of death at anything that would come into range, I knocked a crisis suit onto the floor and his arm broke off, and he broke off the base. I cursed and bent to pick it up and hit the table with my head, knocking over the tower full of broadsides, while rained onto the floor and there was much breaking and sadness.

2. I was packing up after a game (my Tau again) and put everything into the GW case. Either I didn't shut it right or it came unlatched...when I picked it up and headed for the door my case opened and my entire army spilled onto the floor. I had a lot of bases break off of my sniper drones, some pathfinders lose arms and bases (damn metal models) some crisis suits break legs, some firewarriors break apart...vehicles came unglued with landing struts broken loose (which I still haven't fixed)....it was bad.


And finally, at a store I used to play at, there were some guys being really stupid with hot sauce, and after one bold youth decided to prove his masculinity by taking a mouthful of what is apparently the world's hottest hot-sauce, he took a trip to the ground, but not before slamming into the table where someone had been assembling their Eldar walker Titan, which met the floor in pieces.

Due to renovation, my flgs had a HUGE block of boxes of lego stacked right up to the roof, maybe 3 feet by 5 feet across. This wasn't a problem because it was stacked so that it leaned against the wall, away from the tables with some shelves in front of it. Well, like 2 kroot rapid firing to take down a hive tyrant, 6's were rolled. the shelves were moved out of the way to put another table in on a tournament day and someone drove their truck into the back wall of the store. It didn't really damage the wall, but it did shake it enough to topple at LEAST 50kg of lego stuff all over 3 tables of miniatures. Thank (insert deity) that we were all at the front getting the results.

The FW were ok,

yet I have another involving these notorious cats.

I had just finished painting my broadsides and left them on the kitchen table to go to the bathroom(I should really learn...), In the bathroom I heard my cats get on the table...I started sweating.

Then, Thump!, the sound of metal hitting hard wood. (or was it my heart dropping to my stomach?) I hurried as fast as I could dare and ran out to see wat happened. And alas, on broadside now equals 5 different broadsides pieces. This broadside was promptly glued back together. Now everytime i play something falls off, the broadside would not be considered 'pretty' anymore.

Interesting about the cats. I have one as well despite her sitting on my lap while i do any sort of modeling or painting, she has not mauled any minis. She does often want to stand on my painting desk to watch, and the swishy tail isnt a good idea

As for worst break.... i have had a few but my breaking nemisis is Be'Lakor. That damn sword hand falls off every time i look at the bastard. What is his freaking problem?

I was cleaning up my shelf (which was full of my Warhammers) and was just put my new books on the shelf. I go to get my other stuff while I hear this creaking sound.

I turn around to see the whole shelf tipping over and immediately push it to keep it from falling.

Sadly my action made everything on the shelf fall out...everything.

After my Orks stopped raining down, I slowly back away form the shelf, only to step on a Trukk and fall on my back....

Back in high school my room was having new carpet put in, so I had to take everything out and then put everything back in. When I put it back, I wasn't that particularly careful. My dark eldar army ended up on the floor next to my bed, and my desk ended up about 6 inches farther from my bed than it used to be. See, I had been using my desk as a quasi bed side table, so my alarm clock was on it. So, the next morning the alarm goes off like it always does and I roll out of bed to hit it and turn it off. But I just keep rolling, thanks to my desk being just THAT much farther away. Ended up on the floor in a pile of broken dark eldar and blood. I was picking those stupid plastic spikes out of my side all morning.
