Where do you buy your miniatures?
I am not a big fan of buying from the internet and now it seems like the GW stores have forced all the other stores from selling minis. So I am forced to buy at full price. I haven't found an alternative gaming, hobby, or collectable store close by that sells minis. Any suggestions.

Even though you don't like the internet check out thewarstore.com great service, amazingly cheap shipping, and 20% retail=happy times. Plus you need to tell us where you live if you are looking for flgs

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House! |

Have you been put off by bad experiences of interwebz shoppes?
There are plenty of decent sites available, probably giving better service than some 'physical' stores. There are plenty of sites that give huge discounts off GW RRP's so don't discount the discounters!

well for you their are several great places the best used to be the emporers hq, but that closed down so games plus in mount prospect is an amazing store I visit whenever I see the family in chicago. Great atmosphere with TONS of selections. Also if you mail order ever from them 10% (thats tax) off or 10% in store if you are military. Great customer service makes them tops in my book.

I now tend to buy at my flgs. They prvide me with a wide variety of models (maxmini, privateer, microarts etc.) and have another store where you can play conveniently at the weekends. Because I want to support this service, I buy there. They have seasonal discounts (15% "zwischen den Jahren" discount) and if you buy over 100€, you get a 10% discount.
And they show me a new tyranid codex before official release.

My biggest problem with the internet is they don't take cash. lol
I usually save up my extra cash and buy with that. This allows me to only spend money that is extra and keeps it somewhat on the downlow from the wife. I have also read somewhere that most identity thefts have been linked to online purchasing with paypal being mentioned.
Anything farther west, closer to Aurora?

90% of my gaming purchases are done at the GW store in Glen Burnie Maryland. I've been going there since they were a tiny little corner of the building next to them. Personally never had a bad experience there.
The other 10% is through e-bay, where I buy my bits for any conversion work. Hoard_*_bits is pretty much the man on E-bay for me. Always has what I need.

For Flames of War and 40K, I go to The War Store.
For AT-43, I go to Miniature Market.
I can't remember the last time I paid full retail for anything other than a pot of paint at the FLGS. I make my small purchases there which aren't worth incurring a $5.95 shipping cost for, but any large orders go to TWS or MM because I save a lot when you total up the discounts from MSRP.
Sorry FLGS, but this crap's too expensive and I want too much of it.

I shop second had as much as I can. Rogues Market, Bartertown, here, Ebay.
Then the Warstore for the majority of anything new.
I still spend a good chunk at my local B&M too. Paints, brushes, plus models to help support the store. But the bulk 75%, I get used or discounted new.

Mostly on http://www.bartertown.com.
I also buy from http://www.miniaturemarket.com. They offer 20% off.
They're a great store and, fortunately, are my F "L" GS. The "L" is in quotes because they're about an hour away from me.
I've bought from "Art's Game Store" and "The Warstore" online, also. Excellent service from both.

I buy from a somewhat local store. The owner is super cool and always has a HUGE selection of miniatures from 40k, fantasy, FoW...and a few others I can't remember. Plus, he gives a 15% discount on GW products and if you buy a bunch of stuff for the same army (such as two b-foce boxes, 3 russ' and 3 chimeras) he'll knock a little bit more off the price. And on the rare occasion he doesn't have something, he'll order it and send it to you, no shipping charged.

@OP,
I would recommend that you create a paypal account, you can fund it directly from your checking/savings account and that way you have a budget that you stick with as well as protection from identity theft.
Personally, I do 90% of my miniature shopping on e-bay but many web retailers accept paypal as well.
