You know the drill. State how you treat the dice and the dice gods. Any particular customs you follow?

Personally I store all my dice ones down. All the depressed emotions and heavy hearts of gamers fall to the bottom, weighing it down, allowing the sixes to come out on top.

I have one red dice with white dots that rolls a majority of the time 4,5, or 6. I try to stack my dice in a pyramid where that one is the highest with 6 on the top.

If I don't stack em, I'll leave him on the side with the 6 up. I'll only roll him when I really need a 5 or a 6.

If I roll a 1 or 2, I won't touch him for the majority of the game. He's basically my go-to dice.


(notice I said 'he' instead of 'it'. That's how much that dice has pulled through for me.)

i have 30 white w/ black pips, that i randomly rotate out different handfuls of.
i also have about 25 multicolored dice that i use for special roles(Hvy. weapon, special weapon, officer, etc...).
lots and lots of cursing too.

I have a habit of chastising the dice that fail me during a game...if I was really counting on a roll or series of rolls, each die that does not produce the expected results is cast to the side of the board for 2 minutes to feel shame. occasionally a die will make it back into the rotation, but usually they are banned for the remainder of the game.

in this way I hope that they will learn from their mistakes, as I rarely do...

Small dice ( cube of 36)

I have my Orange swirly dice with black numbers for to hits
Yellow swirly dice to wounds

large Orange swirly for Power weapons
YELLOW Swirly for wounds for power weapons


then i have ice blue one for Saves

black dice with white spots for drift and scatter dice.

Each army has it matching dice colors so my Nurgle army will have a Brown/green swirl and Beige/ yellow swirl for there dice.

Dark eldar Clear with black dots, clear with black, white dots, and ICe blue with white dots.

Army colored dice, very important. I also try and get two sets of differant smaller dice and one set of the larger ones to roll easier with multple weapons.

And army colored dice bags.

I kiss my die, yes I even once made out with one to please the die gods.

i keep my dice in a clear container that they came in and when i roll really bad with on i smash it with a hammer and put it back in the box to show the dice what will happen to them if they are bad

Ones up when not in use. That way they get bored of it and will land on anything else as if to spite me. That's right: reverse psychology on dice.

I have certain dice I use for the magic phase and my bigger "special dice" I use for my special stuff like character attacks and saves.. there not really special but they look cooler! I think Imma order some custom chaos/khorne dice though

I don't believe in fate or anything else. I simply roll the dice, and hope for above the average.

I don't personally do anything special with my dice, but I have a friend who "burns" his dice when they fail him. Though to be honest I don't blame him. He has terrible luck with his rolling.

I slay a deer and spread it's blood over my dice before every game.

If i play well enough, I'll roll enough dice to make the results i need crop up sooner or later. Superstitions just waste time and garner funny looks.

One friend, before each game, would roll all his dice, any 6's passed and are moved to the side, than he rerolls the rest, 6's off to the side again, and repeat until everyone rolled a 6

I store my dice in the clear containers they came in. but i have 1 black set and 1 white set, so they are stacked in each 50/50 alternating in the pyramid. (like white in the corner, than black ones touching them, than white ones touching them.)

There was one d20 that was flourescent orange and rolled criticals a little to often for my players preference, so it became the bully dice, breaking it out whenever they were getting 'uppitty'

There was a purple/black marble that did the opposite and they would slide it over a lot if they were in trouble.

If I'm rolling a bunch of dice for the same thing, I try to grab 50/50 black and white dice. If I'm doing riders and horses, the horses will get the black dice.

I'm sure there are more, I think I always use black dice for important saves too, but I don't remember

In all honesty though, make it so you roll lots of dice and then these are all just odd habits and probability does the rest.

Long ago I used to use the white dice that came with all the GW boxed games I'd bought. Those were absolutely abysmal dice after X years of using them, and my brother inherited the dice cup of tired dice when I left for college. Good luck to him.

I switched to multiple blocks of 12mm that cost $$ and matched my armies. Luck perked up, but quickly plateaued and/or plummeted. I decided tiny dice were not the solution.

Enter multiple blocks of 16mm dice that cost $ and still matched my armies. Luck definitely improved, but since I had switched to fantasy with fewer rolls overall, I was still getting owned by excessive 1's from these smallish round-corned dice ...

So I bought 25 big glowy green 20mm dice off eBay for $5, which look pretty much like monopoly dice and get made fun of from time to time for being so huge. Except that they kick a lot of butt some days, and I feel like for once the only cause for my terrible rolls (because they still suck!) is my own bad luck rolling wounds or saves or Ld tests, rather than little chance cubes.

Moral of the Story: I got my groove back by going to successively larger dice. Next step is clearly casino dice, but those cost $$$ and are a bit too 1337 for me

Only other thing I do is try to get my hands and dice warm before I roll them. I find that cold hands and cold dice roll, well, really cold, hence my luck only works out late in games, when things are mostly dead ... I rarely remember to pop a handful of (now huge) dice into my pocket to warm up, which is especially bad now as Endless Winter has set in to Albany

I don't do anything much, I occasionally roll all the dice I have to see if I don't get a 6, that way I know the next lot will have at least one 6 in.... I think

I believe that there is a dam dice god. For some odd reason i have pink dice that rolls better than any other dice that i own. I think that my dice god is either a little fruity or playing a joke on me

I play guard, and I use orders. I roll enough dice that the majority can come up as ones, and I still score enough hits to kill something.

Although I do buy army matching dice...ya know...just to help.

I have about 36 red dice and 20 green dice. I use my red dice for WFB magic, combat, and 40k close combat, and psyker tests. People always look bug eyed when I dominate the magic phase with all my successful casts .

Also if someone borrows my scatter die, I lick it before I give it to them.
