I've order Chimera in Maelstorm games weeks ago.
I had plan to start Mechanized IG. So I need a five chimeras.

Today,suddenly,This mail came.

In reference to order #xxxxxxxxx, we have refunded £85.00 to your Moneyback, for the item Imperial Guard Chimera.

We have done this because item was withdrawn from sale by Games Workshop.

We have refunded to your Moneyback because it is quick and easy and has the additional benefit that it reduces bank charges for both sides. If you would like us to refund to your original payment method, please let us know and we will be happy to do so.

What happend my order? Games Workshop stop selling chimeras?
Or just something happen to Maelstorm Games?

There is no anger for this. But what happend?
No more order because of New Chimera?
Or just Maelstorm Games cant have chimera anymore? But I've order Russ,Vindicator and other IG&marine & chaos marine things same time. There is no mail for them. Strange is "only for chimera."

Anyone have encountered similar situation?

That's because there's a new one coming in March or April (right?).

But don't worry, you'll soon have the all new and improved Chimera. It'll be slightly more expensive than the current one and you'll have to buy the accessory sprue separately at an exorbitant price, but GW is a premium company after all. It's fair.

It could be that either Maelstrom has been shafted by GW (unlikey), that Maelstrom has outstanding bills with GW that it hasn't paid, and so aren't receiving new stock (very unlikely) or that GW has stopped casting new Chimeras due to a new sprue release along with the new Missions book (most likely).

Well, there's always religion to take up for filling that tiny void.

But in all seriousness, those forty days are over in no time at all.

Or you could just go on ebay, or shop around, try wayland games and other online retailers to see if they've still got stock.

The Hellhound box doesn't have the back parts for the Chimera, i.e. the troop carrying bits.

I'm guessing we'll get our pre-orders soon enough, probably early February. So sit tight.

Since the release of 5e IG codex, chimeras had often be in short on webstores.

The reason is written in the rulebook.

Wayland is out of stock. I'd been wondering about buying their box set with 3 Chimeras and a few army bits and it was there on Monday but it's gone now and there's no option to buy a Chimera from them.

Can I suggest skipping forward 10 years to the age where you don't really care about what people say on the internet. Studies show that it decreases your anger about life in general by 37%. - Flashman

For those that have the new hellhound, how does it compare size wise to the old chimera chassis? The reason I ask is that I have an old griffon metal mortar (with the floor panel etc), and i'm wondering if i'm going to have to track down an older chimera before they disappear for good.

On one hand I think "New Chimera, yay!!!"

On the other I like track guards on all my vehicles so I think "Chimeras are gonna cost £10 more EACH!"

and at that price I may as well buy Valks

I had the exact same thought about the track guards!

Lucky I've since moved on to squadron.com for 1/35 scale tank accessories. For something like $20 or $30 it seems I got the equivalent of several GW sprues and the stuff is much better detailed. No track guards though.

Track guards would be pretty easy to make out of some plastic channel if worst came to worst.

I'll have to take a look at squadron.com. I use some tamiya 1/35 WW2 accessory sprues for adding bits to my ork vehicles currently.

Tamiya is good and so is a Korean company called Legend- currently I'm parcelling out bits from that accessory box onto several Chimeras and a Trojan, though the GI steel pot helmets and boonie hat will find their way onto crewmembers eventually. Also- resin igloo cooler and 60's AM/FM Radio, nuff said.

The M4 Sherman I also bought looks very promising but I'm working through one kit at a time.

So it seems that production has stopped while a lot of people are building a mechanised imperial force.

I understand this kit replacement as being mostly driven by cost cutting, and modernization of their plasturgic equipment.
The actual Chimera kit is made of no less than 7 spues of various dimensions (mostly small). It uses 15 years-old conception molds. GW managed to squeeze current Demolisher and Hellhound kits to only 2 large sprues, thanks to much optimized bits space occupation. I expect exactly the same for Chimera. It will be much cheaper to produce, so a cost increase is unlikely.

But I will miss the vehicle uprgade sprue, and these nice track segments surplus, wich could be used as reinforced armor, or to build vehicles from scratch and so on...

I just got a new hellhound, and just from looking at the hull it's the same shape as the old chimera hull but has a bit of floor grating. It's clearly the same hull that will be used for the artillery tanks. It doesn't have a real interior but there is more than the old chimera had, and it looks like what a griffon would have or maybe a salamander.

Maybe, and unlike GW it's for free.

But consider that Chimera costs already 5$ more than their SM/ork counterparts, given that production costs will drop, where is the point about rising retail price for basically the same product ? Risking to lose sales ?

In continental Europe, Demolisher and Hellhound old kits were @ 50 euros IIRC, new kits are 39 euros. So I don't worry about Chimera.
