Subject: FW: New Ork tank variant and Valkyrie heavy lifter spotted at the Frenzy -- pics in first post

Photography wasn't allowed, so pardon the lack of images, I'd rather not have my camera slapped around by preying GW staffers.
Anyway I've seen the Valkyrie heavy lifter, which is a Valkyrie with the rear compartment left off, instead there are four hydraulic arms. A bit like that Sykorski heavy lift chopper. The wings sported rocket pods, didn't get a glance at the right cheek though, so I can't say if it comes with a ML or LC as well. It is a single seat aircraft BTW, just a lone pilot, no second crew station.
Second big reveal was a massive Ork tank, larger than a Land Raider, which was dubbed the "Kill Bursta" by the FW staff. Lovely tracks with nicely detailed road wheels, a huge big dozer blade, a massive hull-mounted main gun, perhaps a siege weapon of sorts. Has two smaller turrets up top with limited traverse, one with a skorcha and the other with twin-linked heavy shootas. Also comes with a gun toting Ork tank commander.
Lastly, I briefly spoke to Simon Egan and asked him about any future Elysian releases. Currently the Elysians are only getting the heavy lifter, Tauros and seated Elysians for the Valkyrie. He wants to do other stuff, but as of right now that's all that's on the list. I asked him about drop commissars and the other heavy weapons that were mentioned in the past, which he admitted he wanted to do, but as of right now it's not know what will they will get in the future.
IA8 will be expected late Q1 of this year.

Nice! I hope with GW's new business model that these tanks may make it into the next Ork codex in a few years time.

Any talk about what else might be coming for Raven Guard?
A rather disappointing list over at Warseer mentioned:
Power Armor Shoulder Pads
Terminator Shoulder Pads
Rhino Doors
Land Raider Doors
Dreadnought (already seen)
So, in other words, nothing unexpected...
Any rumors about 'unexpected' stuff?

Not much on the Raven Guard sadly, thye just had the unpainted Venerable Dread on preview, minus arms.
Unexpected stuff? Not really, Simon was very straight forward and told me that they didn't keep anything secret like the big company, their main focus was on IA8 and IA9 for now. Best bet is to keep an eye out for the newsletter as always.

Okay, so Elysians aren't getting much, and Raven Guard aren't getting much. Looks like a really naff IA release for the Imperials.

Imperials don't really need a big release. They get stuff in every IA book, whereas the other races get one book to themselves (Chaos got 3!). Orks have been a long time coming as far as a major update of their IA rules, plus new stuff. Ditto for Eldar (who will hopefully be in the next one).
Which brings me to my question - Brook - their main focus is IA8 and IA9. Any info on what that book is? Is IA8 a 'Part 1' deal, with IA9 being the follow up, or are these standalone books ala Taros and Anphelion?

IA8 and IA9 will be a two-parter, released shortly after one another according to what I've been told, but it can deviate. As for actual contents, no previews were present (no Eagle Claw lander either) or any solid info on what the books would tackle.
All we do know is that 8 tackles three of the major clans and 9 tackles the other three big ones.

OK, now that is very, very cool news!
If I can get some Blood Axe and Bad Moon stuff out of this, I'll be quite happy!

IA8 has the Goffs, Evil Sunz and Deathskullz, so IA9 will feature the Snake Bites, Bad Moons and Blood Axes.

Well, that's disappointing for Elysian players. I was hoping they'd re-do the infantry so they were less convoluted.
It is nice we're getting a few more things though.

I'm betting that they'll redo the molds for Elysians, at the very least, given how popular they are and how old the molds are.

Just my luck!
IA9 will end up being a bit expensive for me, I'm guessing...
Will it still be the Raven Guard in IA9 too?
Grimstonefire wrote:I'm guessing the answer is no, but any fantasy stuff on the horizon?
There's going to be a "Fantasy Forge World" eventually, which is, allegedly, where the Chaos Dwarfs will make their triumphant (and expensive) return.
When?
No idea...

No kidding. I was hoping at least for a small pack of new arms and legs that could be used with the infantry kit. Guess not though. Not even a Commissar. Maybe one day.

Just a tiny, tiny bit disappointed that they didn't split the clans into Goffs, Snakebites and Blood Axes / Bad Moons, Evil Sunz and Deathskulls to recreate the 'Ere We Go/Freebooterz division.
