I'd like to know just that extreme circumstances could lead to such a thing.

I have not (orks sneeze on fire warriors and they die), but I did see a rather bad-luck charge by a small unit of battle sisters strike some fire warriors in cover. The sisters rolled like ****, enough 1s to make baby jesus cry, and the firewarriors killed two of them. Sisters weren't fearless and ran, Firewarriors swept and killed the last three when they tossed a 6. It was rather nauseating; I like the sisters and it was not their finest hour.

i have a story about no firewarrior but pathfinder.
one of DH players uses his Stern with 1W to charge some pathfinders maybe 5 of them. Stern kills 2~3 pathfinders. pathfinders strikes back score 1 wound. Stern rolls 1. and he dies by the hand of a pathfinder. that was just hilarious.

i so heard some other player uses 8 howling banshees to multi-charge 3 squads of fire warriors and lose.

I had a combat squad hit a group of firewarriors and proceeded to lose 2-3 straight combats, even breaking on one... AND getting caught for a few more no retreat wounds. It was embarrassing

I had a 2-3 man squad of TH/SS Termies get killed over 2 assault phases by a crisis suit too.

Sure, when dice are involved, anything can happen. Callidus assaulted 5 Fire Warriors, totally whiffed and then they beat her down with 5s to hit and 5s to wound.

Only once have I ever seen FWs win in CC. Seven warriors sitting in cover, a squad of GKs charge through with no grenades, and the Fire Warriors punch one out.

Granted, they still lost that combat, but still. Made most of their points back in a single swing.

i had an assault squad (power fist sarge and 1 flamer marine) charge up to fire warriors to tie them up so they wouldn't shoot me off a nearby objective. The marines lasted two rounds of assault before finally dying.

One of my gun drones fought off 2 Plaguebearers for about 3 turns. I have mad respect for drones now.

My Shas'O took on an 8 man group of Plaguebearers and won. Took about 5 turns to finish them off tho.

Firewarriors? Apparently N'Drasi Tau aren't as well trained. My Firewarriors are like snacks to everyone else...

Happily I can say I have never lost to Fire Warriors in close combat. I once had a lone Death Company Marine destroy a team of battle suits, Hammerhead, Skyray and big squad of Kroot in one game versus Tau. He was elevated to the rank of Sanguinary High Priest.

I've had a unit of ten guardsmen beat up a unit of Striking Scorpions and live to tell the tale. I think they died to something really stupid after that but I don't remember.

This is two turns after 2 Drones broke a Seer Council and chased them off the table.

Alas this is true. Last edition the joke was that Lictors would look at guardsmen and firewarriors and muse how they have found a challenge worthy of their skills to combat, all anime style.

Many times have the stocks of pulse rifles beaten mine to death. This edition will see vengeance.

Yep happened to me.

IG trounced by CHARGING fire warriors in a last gasp attempt to claim an objective.

Not much of a David Vs Goliath battle but 7 FW's vs 10 vets 1 dead FW 8 dead IG. Plus a couple of drones tied up my command squad for a few turns!

You had to laugh.

I'm more bitter about my last ever 2nd ed battle my chaos dread being rolled by a swarm of gretchin!

Never underestimate the following unit types in CC

Fire warriors
Drones(of any type)

I've had 2 fire warriors defeat 2 ork nob bikers on the charge. I've also had a shield drone headbutt to death a deffcopter ;p

assaulted with stealers and rolled so many ones and 2's the guy took a freaken photo, i was laughing so hard then he goes and takes out half of them, the brood was shot (old ed nids btw) and then got caught by fire warriors (i rolled a one he rolled a 6!)

Ain't that the truth. I have nothing but contempt for the Tau, but nothing but respect for their Drones. Their Drones have enacted more miracles than any other unit they have combined.

I still remember the first time I faced drones, so cocky I was with my big stompy Oblit - no way I'd lose to these guys. That Oblit was there for the rest of the game, he never got to shoot, he never got to do anything except take the odd armour save. Man Drones are annoying...

I know it's not in CC, but I did have a miracle with a Gun Drone shooting. He was mounted on a Devilfish, and fired at the AV10 side armor of a Chimera. Five to hit, 6 to pen, 6 on the vehicle damage. That is one lucky carbine shot.

Oh, and never underestimate the power of a battlesuit in CC. Shas'os kick some serious butt (And for no good reason! Why do they have four wounds and four attacks base?)

Back in 3rd I had 10 orks assault 12 fire warriors, I killed 2 he killed 4. I Ran and got chased down. :(

I had an Inquisitorial Assassin get killed by them. It was the one that explodes when it dies (the name escapes me at the moment).

Assassin charges into melee, gets ZERO wounds. Barely even hits.

Fire Warriors strike back, getting 4 or 5 hits and a couple wounds.

Fail both saves.

Assassin explodes, taking 2 of them out.

I was officially NOT IMPRESSED with the Effectiveness to Points Cost Ratio.

Right when Tau came out I got a small force of them together. First game I played was vs. DA Termi list. Five termi's charge a squad of FW and FW hit and do 5 wounds, he rolls five 1's.. I nearly died laughing.

He on the other hand was not so amused.

You'd think when Fire Warriors charged, you shouldn't be concerned....

But when you're an imperial guardsman, with paper thin armor? It's as deadly as an ork charge.

My infantry squad was slaughtered to a man, by a unit of firewarriors after 2 rounds of combat.... Wasn't nice :(
