Not much to say really, all of these are WIP and need alot of GS work done to them, mainly to smooth out areas and add a few details where needed.
They have all been put together with tac for now just for the pics, plan on painting them in parts so nothing is obscured from the brush.

Anyway, enough talk, heres a few pics to start off: (i apologise for the pics, the cam shows them great, but when i uploaded them they seem grainy and low quality)

Work to be done::

Alpha: Just a few new carapace plates here and there, mainly building up a hand guard for the swords.

Tyrano: Need to blend in the back arms with the gun/carapace, just general odds and ends to fix it up.

Harpy: needs the wing joints added in, tail section built up to cover the join, need to add a spore cluster to its chest aswell.




Do also have a trygon, but forgot to get pics of it with this lot, ill add that into my next update since its no convertion work, just a bit of painting.
Also have to add in pics of 3 lictors and 3 raveners i have, along with some rippers.

Should have another update soon with GS work and some painting, and with any luck my next order will turn up

Harpy looks dope, but I hate the flying stand. I'd go to town on a scenic base; have his tail resting on a rocky outcrop/ ruined building. It's a centerpiece model and deserves the time

Mag - Problem is, a scenic base isnt practical for me
Will be getting back into gaming alot, and will be moving them about a fair bit.
Rather just have a stand like that with a single pin so i can take it on and off when i need to.
I may later on find a bit of 5m steel rod to use instead, in which case ill build the base up a bit and deck it out more

The harpy looks amazing. Top notch work there!

I have to disagree here, I like the fact that she's up in the air... unless you did a very large tower, with her tail wrapped around it, a la king kong and the empire state building

Yeh, a scenic base works best with a display model. But soon she will be a display model coz people will be running with fear, not gaming. She is AWESOME!

Just got back from work to find my order has arrived
So i now have 24 termigants and 3 hive guard to add to the army.

Ill try and get some work done tonight with some updates for everyone


Also, still trying to decide on my HQ.

Flyrant - points heavy, not the best choice, but looks good.

Tyrant - nice model, but limited in its game use, would like a unit of tyrant guard though.

Swarmlord - tempting, just a shame he is slow and chews up alot of points.
Would be a nice choice from a convertion point of view though.

Parasite of mortex - May have to build one regardless of his not so amazing profile.
Cant resist a giant flying ripper that spawns rippers

prime - Have one at the moment, he may get replaced, in which case he will just be a basic warrior.




Anyways, need to get some stuff done then if i have time ill get on with some painting / assembling / GS'ing and get updates done.

Those are AWESOME! Especially the harpy! The prime and the tyrano each have one thing that bother's me -

Prime - I would give the boneswords some form of hilt (if there are hilts forgive me, it's hard to make out), I think a little continuity through the spinefist would give it more continuity and camouflage the source-bits a bit more.

Tyrano - Everything is great but the guntube itself, too regular and symmetrical, it looks almost mechanical. Maybe something a little more meat and bone through a little GS-fu?

Needed some gant box's for the carapace

Not much so far, but ive put together 1 box of gants and have another still boxed.

Got all 3 hive guard together though, and what a pain in the arse they are

Was thinking of doing a similar thing for my boneswords, but I'll probably wait to see what chapterhouse has. Love the work so far, and I can't wait for more!

Sorry about the time its taken for another update, life has been getting in the way :(
Managed to get some more stuff ordered in to get an army together now.
working for a 1,500 list to start with.
Once i have that painted up ill start to expand again.

Quick rundown of the list:



HQ:

Prime: Bone swords, Rending claws, Adrenal - 100

Elite:

Troop:

12 Termigants - 60

Fast attack:

Harpy: cluster spines - 160

Heavy Support:

Trygon: Prime, Adrenal - 250
Tyranofex: rupture cannon, cluster spines, Des. larv. - 265


All that comes out at 1,610.
But to get it to fit ill cut a lictor and some swarms to drop it to 1,500.




Might be able to get a game soon against marines.
Only problem is that i dont know his list, all i know is that he likes Dev. squads.




Anyways, army pics now, no paint really except the start of the trygon, but now i have everything i can get painting

Not a problem

I initially made one for the simple fact i wanted a large flyer in the army lol, the convertion work wasnt hard, but it turned out pretty effective.
The great rules for them are just an added bonus lol.

Should start getting some of this painted this week.
Ill more than likely finish off the trygon and get working on the mid sized units. (aswell as finishing off the GS on the harpy and tyranofex)

You may have already mentioned it, but how did you make the Harpy's tail? Obviously the Trygon tail curls around flat on the base, so how much cutting and GS work was needed to make it into what's on your Harpy?

Awesome model by the way, really looks nice.

I love what you have done to make that tyranofex (Spelled wrong?) I could see that being the center piece of your army.

Cool Harpy, and I love the Tyrannofex, but what did you use to make the cannon?

Neith: Tail section is simple.
It comes in 4 parts. (main body, mid tail, tail tip, then tail end)
Simply miss out the mid tail section and glue the rest together.
It will need a bit of GS to smooth out the step, but if done right you shouldnt have to make any carapace to cover the join.



Rose: Going for a priority list, so it shouldnt be a problem.
Trrops will be held back until i need them.

Just need to find my GS to get the 1st one finished lol.
Also, i think the harpy will end up standing out more.



Karl: Thanks, its actually an old pen casing i hacked up lol, once again, i need to start GS'ing it a bit more, going for the look of the origional biovore cannon.

Quick question, how did you make your bone swords?

Sorry about the long time gone, had to let the blog die for a little while so i could get on with work.

But yea, back up and running now
Also got new paints sorted out since alot of mine had died on me.



Snap: Bone swords are simply talons cut from the arms and added to spinefist arms.




Updates: Sorry for no pics just yet, but ill get some up tomorrow

So far: Doom has been made in 100% plastic and awaiting paint.

Swarmlord has been put together with some hacked apart talon swords ive been making (along with GS work on them)
Just need to add the 2nd tail section to him which ill be doing via GS tomorrow before/after i put up some pics.


Also added another trygon to the army for some fun.





Managed to get 2 games in with the army so far.

1st was a KP game, which i won, even with the harpy being killed in a DS mishap :(

2nd game was a 3 way battle, which saw it more like 2 1,500 marine armies against my 1,500 lol.
Was a KP mission with a single objective in the middle.
Managed to scrape 2nd thanks to the harpy stealing a KP on the last turn (lonely ironclad walking about), and then contesting the objective aswell.

Doom of Malantai:







Need to drill out the back sections on him still and add a bit of GS here and there, but hes 95% finished now.




Swarmlord:







A little bit of work left before he is ready for paint.
Need to add the 2nd tail section which ill make from GS, also need to fill in gaps since there are tons.
Model would not fit together too well so i had to scrape and file parts away to make it fit, so it needs patching up.

Flicked through various settings and these were about as good as they got, think the lighting is the main problem.

I can't wait to see this army finished and painted just curious what is your plan for the color scheme if you said it earlier i must have missed it. Any background on your nids?

Im torn between 2 colours so far lol, hence why painting has stopped on the trygon.
Should have a few more pics up of the alpha later tomorrow in a different scheme.

1st scheme: see trygon above.

2nd scheme: going for a cartoon style ink shading effect all over since it looks great.
Will be going red skin with black carapace mainly.
Possibly blue detailed sections like the bone swords, but they will have to be a black - blue blend.


In terms of getting the army finished, i dont plan on ever finishing it lol, will just keep on going and see where it ends up.
Have promised myself a few FW orders though once i hit the 5k points mark. (around 2k at the moment)
